Jim Ross Reveals When He Thinks Braun Strowman Should Cash-In His MITB

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross took to his podcast, The Ross Report, ahead of this weekend’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV). In one of the more pivotal match-ups of the night, Braun Strowman will defend his Money In The Bank (MITB) briefcase against Kevin Owens.

There’s a ton of speculation going around suggesting the winner will cash-in at the end of the night. WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will defend his title against Roman Reigns on the card as well.

Many are expecting Strowman or Owens to cash-in and leave New York Universal Champion. Ross discussed when he thinks Strowman should cash-in his MITB briefcase. Ross said he’d prefer to see Strowman win the World Title at WrestleMania:

“Ain’t going to happen. They’ve got the guy primed to be the man. And, quite frankly, what title in any company is hot right now? There’s about a million of them. Pick you out one. Good luck on it,” Ross said

“I think in time, and I do say this, now he [has] got the Money In The Bank briefcase, now he does, speaking of Strowman, throwing around that pronoun ‘he’. I still think he should be anointed at WrestleMania.

“If you want a guy to be eternally over, in the sense of given the chance to be eternally over, you make the transition at WrestleMania. That’s my looking at it. It doesn’t get any bigger.”

More Information On The Three Women’s Matches At MITB

WWE’s Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) this past Sunday featured three women’s matches.

First, Alexa Bliss won the Women’s MITB Ladder match. SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Carmella defended her title against Asuka. Finally, Ronda Rousey attempted to capture the RAW Women’s Title from Nia Jax but Bliss would cash in and leave Chicago with the title instead.

Thanks to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, we now have some more information on those matches. Tyson Kidd and Fit Finlay put together the Women’s MITB Ladder match, but Meltzer notes it was mostly Kidd.

WWE also took all of the participants off of the road this past weekend to rehearse the match. This is why there were no Women’s matches at live events beforehand, which upset some fans.

Fit Finlay put together Jax vs. Rousey, which had also been practiced over the weekend. It was noted that there wasn’t a rehearsal for Carmella vs. Asuka as opposed to their other two matches together.

What Was Originally Scheduled To Close MITB, More On James Ellsworth’s Return

What Was Originally Slated To Close Out MITB

Last night’s WWE Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) was closed out by the Men’s MITB Ladder match. That bout was eventually won by Braun Strowman.

PWInsider is reporting that the RAW Women’s Championship match between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey was originally scheduled to close out the show. This includes the subsequent MITB cash in by Alexa Bliss to win the title and walk out of Chicago RAW Women’s Champion.

Of course, eventually the decision was made to have the Men’s MITB Ladder match close the event instead – which reportedly didn’t sit well with some of the female performers backstage.

More On James Ellsworth’s WWE Return

As for the return of James Ellsworth, which occurred during the SmackDown Live Women’s Title match between Carmella and Asuka, it seems that has been discussed as far back as the Greatest Royal Rumble. There were reportedly talks of having him re-appear as early as during the Greatest Royal Rumble match.

Backstage Reaction To Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax

The RAW Women’s Title was on the line last night during WWE’s Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) when champion Nia Jax defended her title against former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

It was Rousey’s first singles match on WWE TV. To many’s surprise, both Rousey and Jax performed quite impressively. The action was fairly entertaining and well executed, with the exception of Rousey accidentally falling outside of the ring through the ropes.

Of course, their success was short-lived as Women’s MITB briefcase holder Alexa Bliss cashed in after attacking both Rousey and Jax. She won the RAW Women’s Title after hitting Twister Bliss on Jax.

According to sources backstage at the event, both Rousey and Jax received standing ovations when coming back through the curtain after their match.

Both Jax and Rousey certainly put on the best performances of their respective careers. Jax did an exceptional job of guiding Rousey through her first singles match, and The Rowdy One certainly impressed for it being her first one-on-one opportunity inside the squared circle.

Discussion: How did you feel about Jax and Rousey’s match last night?

WWE Women Reportedly Upset With Placement On MITB Card

As opposed to the expectations of some, the Women’s Money In The Bank (MITB) Ladder match did not main event last night’s WWE pay-per-view (PPV) event. The men’s MITB Ladder match, eventually won by Braun Strowman, took those honors.

The Women’s Ladder match took place earlier in the card and was won by Alexa Bliss. Little Miss Bliss cashed in her briefcase later on that night in the middle of the RAW Women’s Championship match between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey.

Bliss attacked Rousey before focusing her attention on Jax. She cashed in her contract and hit Twisted Bliss for the three count and the RAW Women’s Title win. Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that there were some women backstage who were ‘disgruntled or bummed’ about their placement on the card.

It seems that some women thought they were going to close out the PPV event with their Ladder match. Of course, that wouldn’t have made sense since Bliss needed cash in her contract later in the night to win the RAW Women’s Title.

Discussion: Do you think the women should’ve been featured in a way that would’ve closed out the PPV?

WWE Adds Kenny Omega Match To Network, Kurt Angle On One Of His Favorite Undertaker Matches, MITB

WWE Adds One Of Kenny Omega’s Matches To The WWE Network

We’ve recently noted that WWE has been mentioning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega quite a bit recently to promote The New Day vs. The Elite (Omega and The Young Bucks) at E3 in a Street Fighter V video game tournament.

It seems like WWE is taking things a step further, adding an old WWE match of Omega’s to their Network. Omega was signed to a developmental deal with WWE several years back in the early stages of his career.

WWE has added Kenny Omega vs. Cru Jones from Deep South Wrestling in 2006 to the WWE Network. It’s under the “Hidden Gems” collection on the application. WWE’s YouTube channel posted the following preview:

Who Has The Most MITB Appearances?, WWE Star Teases Brand Switch

Who Has The Most MITB Appearances?

Later this month (June 17, 2018) WWE will holds its Money In The Bank (MITB) Ladder match in Rosemont, Illinois. Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, The Miz, Rusev, Bobby Roode, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and a member of The New Day.

WWE recently posted an Instagram photo showing which of these competitors has been in a MITB Ladder match the most. The Miz leads the way with three, Kevin Owens has two, and if Kofi Kingston is the New Day member selected to participate he’ll lead the way with six:

WWE Star Teases Brand Switch

TJP has been teasing a brand switch lately after recently working an enhancement talent on 205 Live before cutting a promo on General Manager Drake Maverick. TJP has teased a possible move to SmackDown Live or Monday Night RAW as he feels Maverick doesn’t appreciate him. Check it out here:

Why Daniel Bryan Wasn’t Booked In The MITB Ladder Match

Earlier this week on SmackDown Live, a Triple Threat match took place to determine the final participant in the men’s Money In The Bank (MITB) Ladder match next month in Chicago.

Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan and Big Cass battled it out for the opportunity. In the end, it was Joe who emerged victorious and earned his spot at MITB. Many fans were disappointed that it wasn’t Bryan who earned his way into the match.

It turns out there’s a good reason WWE decided to hold Bryan out of the match. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the reason the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion is being held out of the MITB match is because Ladder matches increase the probability of neck injuries and concussions.

WWE’s primary focus seems to be keeping Bryan healthy. In addition to this, it looks like the feud between Bryan and Cass will continue on as a match between them has already been advertised for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV).

Discussion: What are your thoughts on Bryan being left out of the MITB Ladder match?

Possible Spoiler On When Carmella Could Cash-In Her MITB, Scott Hall Gets Heat From Late Wrestler’s Family After Recent Tweet

– It’s been quite some time since Carmella won the first-ever Women’s Money In The Bank briefcase. Many fans have been wondering when “The Princess Of Staton Island” could be cashing in her Women’s Title opportunity. Brad Shepard of BodySlam.net is reporting that he has heard rumblings of Carmella cashing-in at WrestleMania 34 unsuccessfully.

Given that Charlotte Flair will likely take on Asuka at “The Show Of Shows,” and assuming the former NXT Women’s Champ’s streak continues on, it’s unlikely Carmella breaks the streak with her cash-in:

“Carmella, I’m told could very well cash in her Money in the Bank at WrestleMania and lose.”

“Well apparently from what I heard she’s okay with it. She’s down to do it. She basically knows Asuka is going to be champ and she doesn’t have a chance of winning the championship from her so it’s kinda like, ‘you might as well make the most of losing. Why not WrestleMania?'”

With Alexa Bliss likely defending her RAW Women’s Title against Nia Jax at WrestleMania, perhaps it’s possible Carmella could attempt to swap brands and cash-in on that match’s winner?

– WWE Hall Of Famer Scott Hall recently took to Twitter and issued a controversial statement about Lex Luger & Davey Boy Smith. A fan said the following on Twitter:

“Lex Luger & Davey Boy Smith were everyone a kid from the 90s wanted as a tag team.”

Hall responded by saying:

“You mean failed single wrestlers.”

Bulldog’s daughter, Georgia Smith, and wife, Diana Hart-Smith, furiously responded to Hall’s Tweet – which he has since deleted:

Original WWE MITB Winner, WWE Wants Superstar to Lose Weight

    – Inside WWE sources are reporting the original plan, for Money In The Bank, was to have Chris Jericho win the match, becoming the first person to ever cash in the briefcase unsuccessfully that night after Daniel Bryan and CM Punk’s match.  The Main Event of Money In The Bank would have been CM Punk vs. Bryan as the main event.

The week of the event, WWE went with Cena winning instead. The thought process on then moving the MITB mach to the main event was that officials felt that the ending would lack impact if it had ended with Punk winning and no one cashing in the briefcase.

At first WWE wanted to have him stay on developmental TV in an On Camera role, since while recovering for six months WWE has decided that he should take the time off, to rest up The company also wants him to watch his diet and lose weight.
