John Morrison Announced For MLW: Never Say Never

Sports Illustrated broke the news on Monday that former WWE Superstar John Morrison is coming to MLW: Never Say Never. This is the ‘big name former WWE Superstar’ in talks with MLW that we reported here exclusively last week.

Morrison will team up with MLW: One Shot main eventer Shane “Swerve” Strickland in a tag match against Jimmy Havoc and Darby Allin in a hardcore match.

The backstory for the match is that Strickland and Sami Callihan were attacked at MLW: One Shot out by hooded assailants, later revealed to be Darby Allin and Jimmy Havoc. Strickland reached out to Morrison to help get revenge.

Morrison told SI, “I’m preparing for this match the same way I prepared for John Cena and Randy Orton, or the same I would prepare to wrestle Kenny Omega or Tetsuya Naito. I’ve got all this experience and I’ve wrestled for all the major companies in the world, but the way that Strick, Havoc, and Allin think about wrestling is new to me and I’m ready for that challenge.”

Visit SI.com to read the full interview.

MLW: Never Say Never takes place on Thursday, December 7th from Orlando, Florida at GILT nightclub. Tickets are now on sale at Eventbrite.com.

Former WWE Superstar In Talks To Appear At MLW: Never Say Never

We’ve got some new information regarding Major League Wrestling’s upcoming Never Say Never live event, which takes place on Thursday, December 7th from Orlando, Florida at Gilt Nightclub.

SEScoops.com has learned a ‘major’ former WWE Superstar is in talks with MLW officials to appear at the show. We’ll provide an update when we get more information on this developing story.

Already signed for MLW: Never Say Never is Matt Riddle vs. “Filthy” Tom Lawlor. A

Another developing angle for the card involves an ambush that took place following MLW One-Shot earlier this month. Shane Strickland and Sami Callihan were attacked outside the venue, with one of the two assailants identified as Darby Allin. The identity of the second attacker remains unknown. Allin is teasing a “Halloween surprise” for Shane Strickland.

Earlier today, it was also confirmed that MVP will be at the show. At One-Shot, MVP unleashed his unique brand of Ghetto Strong Style when he defeated Sami Callihan in one of the best matches on the card.

Matt Riddle Accepts “Filthy” Tom Lawlor’s Challenge

It looks like we’ve got the first confirmed match for the upcoming MLW: Never Say Never live event.

Earlier this month at MLW: One-Shot, “Filthy” Tom Lawlor defeated Olympian Jeff Cobb in a very physical and hard fought contest. Afterwards, Lawlor called out another popular grappler with UFC experience: Matt Riddle.

MLW confirmed that the “King of Bros” was in talks about signing the match for Never Say Never. On Thursday, they released a video of Riddle formally accepting Lawlor’s challenge.

The news of this money match comes just days after the Orlando Sentinel reported that MLW is seriously considering running monthly shows in Florida.

MLW Exploring Monthly Live Events In Florida

Major League Wrestling appears to be gearing up for a ‘full-time’ return to the independent wrestling scene.

Following the success of of MLW: One-Shot earlier this month, the company announced the upcoming Never Say Never event on December 7th from Orlando, Florida.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, MLW has even bigger plans in the works. MLW CEO Court Bauer told the Sentinel that MLW is considering running monthly shows in Florida.

“We were really happy with the first show at Gilt [nightclub],” Bauer said. “We see the chance to grow in Florida, and using Orlando as a base of operations makes sense.”

From 2002-2004, MLW ran shows throughout Florida. With the overwhelming success of One-Shot, the demand is there to hold future live events throughout the state. “If we expand beyond Orlando — Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville are in the crosshairs,” said Bauer.

MLW: One-Shot is now available for on-demand streaming over at MLW.tv for only $4.99. The show features Tony Schiavone and Rich Bocchini calling the action, with both men signed to return for Never Say Never.

Tony Schiavone Returning For MLW: Never Say Never

Following his return to the announcer’s table at last week’s MLW: One-Shot event from Orlando, MLW has confirmed that Tony Schiavone will be calling the action at their next show, MLW: Never Say Never.

Schiavone be joined by his One-Shot broadcast partner, the former Voice of NXT, Rich Bocchini.

While no matches have been announced for Never Say Never as of this writing, Matt Riddle vs. “Filthy” Tom Lawlor appears to be in the works. Lawlor called out Matt Riddle after his win over Jeff Cobb at One-Shot and Riddle is confirmed to be in talks about appearing at the next show.

MLW: Never Say Never takes place on Thursday, December 7th from Gilt Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Matt Riddle In Talks With MLW, WWE Superstars Backstage At One-Shot

– WWE Cruiserweights Rich Swann Kalisto were backstage at last week’s MLW: One-Shot event from Orlando, FL. From what we saw, Swann and Kalisto really seemed to enjoy MVP vs. Sami Callihan and the main event featuring Shane Strickland vs. Ricochet. The ‘Living Legend’ Larry Zbysko and a few Impact Wrestling Knockouts were also in attendance.

MLW.com has confirmed that former UFC welterweight Matt Riddle is in talks with the promotion about appearing at an upcoming show. Following his big win at over Olympian Jeff Cobb at One-Shot last week, “Filthy” Tom Lawlor was interviewed in the ring and called Riddle out. The “King of Bros” caught wind of the challenge and responded:

MLW CEO Court Bauer was quoted, “Matt is a phenomenal fighter and Lawlor is coming up fast and strong. Fans want this match and so do I. Hell, so do Matt and Tom. All I can say right this moment is… stay tuned.”

With MLW returning on December 7th with Never Say Never from Orlando, Florida – Riddle vs. Lawlor would make one hell of an addition to the card.

Bruce Prichard Claims TNA Got Him in Trouble with the IRS Over Unpaid Taxes

This week’s edition of “Something to Wrestling With,” Bruce Prichard’s podcast on the MLW network, went up today, and the topic is Prichard’s time in TNA.  Late in the show, at the 2:37:30 mark, there’s a VERY interesting exchange between Prichard and co-host Conrad Thompson (they’re overlapping slightly at times, so I’ve removed any small interjections that didn’t go anywhere):

Conrad: “Do they owe you any money?”

Bruce: “[sighs] You know, they did something that was really bad. I had some financial issues, and they were supposed to pay to the government, and so on and so forth, and they didn’t do it. They garnished things from my check…”

Conrad: “Your withholdings from the federal government…”

Bruce: “Right. ”

Conrad: “That TNA kept, that weren’t included in your checks, but then they didn’t actually pay the government.”

Bruce: “Correct. Then the government came after me for [not] paying them.”

Conrad: “So they stole your money. How much money did they steal from you?”

Bruce: “Oh, that was about…it was only about $10,000.”

Conrad: “Still…”

Bruce: “But still, the arrogance…”

Conrad: “And you never got it.”

Bruce: “Well, it wasn’t coming to me, but the government finally got it. Because it was the government coming after me for the money.”

Conrad: “And you showed them proof…”

Bruce: “I show them proof! ‘Here’s where they took it…'”

Conrad: “‘I did my part.'”

Bruce: “So, I don’t know, ’cause I never heard the end of it, other than the government was satisfied. And…it was just those kind of little petty things that didn’t have to happen, that made you kind of feel dirty at the end.”

With everything that has come out about TNA as of late, it’s a very interesting allegation. Especially since, as we first reported a week ago, the state of Tennessee has a lien on TNA’s assets for unpaid business taxes. We’ve reached out to TNA for comment on Prichard’s allegations, and will update you if we hear back from them.

Kevin Sullivan Reveals Hulk Hogan Paid Jimmy Hart In WCW

On the next edition of MSL & Sullivan, the weekly podcast on MLWRadio.com, former WCW booker Kevin Sullivan brought up a previously unknown wrinkle to the complicated relationship that Hulk Hogan had with the company. In a passage sent out in advance (the episode goes up tomorrow, October 23rd), Sullivan is quoted as saying the following about legendary manager Jimmy Hart:

Besides him getting a payday from WCW, he was getting paid by Hulk. So I was inclined to use Jimmy because of the creative control. He wasn’t getting a percentage. He was getting a flat fee. Every January 1st or 2nd he got a check written to him. Six figures.

When co-host Mister Saint Laurent asked why Hogan put so much faith in Hart, Sullivan explained their relationship:

Out of all the people Hulk had, he felt more secure with Jimmy because Jimmy had no vices. I think it happened in Memphis when Hulk first got there. Jimmy probably got him rides and he would ride with Hulk. When you finished Memphis, you had to go to Louisville, which was a brutal ride. 380 or 400 miles. He would get him a ride. He knew the places, this was the deep south, this was Kentucky Fried Chicken, Jimmy would talk the guy into grilling Hulk a dozen chicken breasts. That kind of thing. I think it started from there.
