Former MLW World Middleweight Champion Myron Reed has hit the free market after being released by the company earlier this month. The 25-year-old was released from his contract on January 14, according to Fightful Select. The two sides parted ways amicably.
Reed began his wrestling career in 2016 initially doing backyard wrestling and putting it on YouTube. He then got a chance at Kentucky-based World Wrestling Alliance, where he went by the name Brother Reed.
On Tuesday afternoon, Reed confirmed that he’s a free agent. “The Young Goat” is ready for whatever comes next and says, “The stars and the sky is the direction!”
The high-flying star joined MLW back in 2018 and he had been part of the company ever since. He is one of the founding members of the Injustice group alongside Rich Swann.
Reed won the MLW World Middleweight Championship back in November 2019. He defeated Teddy Hart for the title and went on to have an impressive 424 days long reign with the belt before dropping it to Lio Rush.
Apart from MLW, Myron Reed has wrestled for promotions such as AAW and Glory Pro Wrestling. He was ranked at #84 in PWI’s Top 500 Wrestler list in 2021.
There is no word on what the former champion is planning for his future. At his age, he would be a great signing for all potential bidders including AEW and WWE.
Game Changer Wrestling kicked off their first event of the GCW Collective with Glory Pro Wrestling: Cemetery Gates. The event was held at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas.
GCW Collective features different indie wrestling promotions as well as their own. The event also had Impact Wrestling talent Josh Alexander face independent wrestling star Warhorse. The event aired on FITE and is available for $12.99 on Video on Demand. Overall Thoughts on the Glory Pro Wrestling: Cemetery Gates
Glory Pro Wrestling: Cemetery Gates had some fun matches that may interest fans in watching on VOD. The event lasted for about two and a half hours. Something vs. Max the Impaler had a very physical match and may also be considered one of the best matches of the show. The Alexander vs. Warhorse and Outlaw vs. Keith contests were also good. For $12.99, wrestling fans could enjoy watching this card if they haven’t already.
Major League Wrestling Middleweight Champion Myron Reed is defending his title at MLW Fightland. The event will take place on October 2nd at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
On today’s episode of Busted Open on SiriusXM, MLW CEO Court Bauer shared the news. Reed will defend the MLW Middleweight Championship against Tajiri, Arez, and Aramis in a Four-way match.
Myron Reed’s Difficult Second MLW Middleweight Title Reign
Reed will be making his first title defense since winning the MLW Middleweight Championship against Lio Rush. The match happened during the season finale of MLW Fusion on May 5th. The win also earned Reed the accomplishment of being the only two-time Middleweight Champion in MLW history. Unfortunately for Reed, he could not defend it due to MLW being on hiatus.
The company returned for MLW Battle Riot III on July 10th, where Reed competed in a losing effort in the 40 men battle royal match. He spoke with SEScoops’ Samira about possible opponents he’d like to face after Battle Riot III. In the interview, Reed said, “I see they got Lee Moriarty here. I want the smoke man.”
However, the company is taking a second hiatus until MLW Fightland. Reed will look to defend the MLW Middleweight Championship against three other competitors successfully.
MLW FightLand Card
The main event for MLW Fightland will be MLW Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu vs. MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone. The match was made official on September 1st when Hammerstone announced he’d challenge Fatu. The winner of the main event will take the other’s championship.
Besides the two title matches, MLW hasn’t revealed the complete MLW Fightland Card. The Opera Cup tournament will also start at the event. The participates so far are Moriarty, Tom Lawlor, Bobby Fish, Davey Richards, TJP, Matt Cross, and Calvin Tankman. MLW has shared that they will reveal more information regarding the Opera Cup and the Fightland card soon.
Major League Wrestling returned to live wrestling last Saturday night for their Battle Riot III from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
I was on-hand at the Battle Riot as a correspondent for SEScoops where I spoke with a few MLW wrestlers and one being Myron Reed.
When I asked how he felt when Lio Rush posted about his retirement, Reed answered how Rush was one of the guys he and others looked up to start wrestling at a young age.
“Lio was one of the guys when I was coming up that we looked up to because when I was younger, he’s a little bit older than me, so like he was making ways when he was really young. So, it made all of the younger guys that was like me, Jordan, like it made us like believe like okay he’s doing it, we can do it too. Like we don’t have to sit here and wait until we’re 30 or however old to start chasing goals and knocking down opportunities,” Reed said.
The discussion then moved onto me asking Reed what it was like being a part of MLW’s growth since he’s been with the company.
“It’s cool because not only is the company growing, but like you’re like growing with the company. Like you’re growing as an individual, so like I’m taking this as a learning experience and I’m just trying to become the best wrestler I can possibly become,” Reed said.
Other topics discussed include his strategies for the Battle Riot, who he hopes to wrestle in MLW by the end of 2021 and more.

You can watch MLW’s Battle III for free on July 24th with beIN SPORTS or on MLW’s YouTube channel at 10 p.m. EST.
It was a significant show last night for MLW. The promotion will be taking a hiatus until July 10th when they welcome back fans inside Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena. Last night’s Fusion was billed as the “Season Finale” and in addition to the big reveal of the former Dario Cueto, a major title change also took place on the show.
Myron Reed becomes the first person to win he MLW World Middleweight Championship twice as he defeated Lio Rush to regain the belt. Rush had defeated Reed for the title on January 6th’s Kings of the Colosseum event. Reed would kick out from Rush’s frog splash in the rematch, however, and pick up the win with his “No Cap Splash” moments later.
MLW World Middleweight Championship Statistics
Maxwell Jacob Friedman was the inaugural champion. He held the title for close to 3 months before vacating it. Teddy Hart then won the vacant belt and successfully defended it 6x over the course of the next 11 months. Hart then dropped it to Reed, who held it through 4 title defenses and then a pandemic before dropping it to Rush in January.
Teddy Hart (1x) 6 defenses, 330 days as champion.
Myron Reed (2x – current) 4 defenses, 424 days as champion.
Lio Rush (1x) 2 defenses, 120 days as champion.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman (1x) 1 defense, 141 days as champion
MLW presented its “Season Finale” show last night. The promotion will be taking a hiatus until they welcome back live fans on July 10th inside the 2300 Arena. On tonight’s show, there was a major angle and a big title change.

MLW Fusion 5/5 Quick Results:
Laredo Kid defeated Gringo Loco
Richard Holliday defeated Ariel Dominguez
MLW World Middleweight Championship Myron Reed (c) defeated Lio Rush (c) – New Champion
Dario Cueto Revealed As “El Jefe”
At the very end of the show, we got an update on Salina de la Renta. She was shown last week with a sack over her head being escorted into a car by a masked man presumed to be one of El Jefe’s handlers. This week, we saw a woman believed to be Salina escorted into an office where the former head of Lucha Underground, Dario Cueto, sat. Cueto was revealed as “El Jefe” and the man behind the Azteca Underground faction. El Jefe told the woman that he is starting a new temple, and that requires a sacrifice before the camera cut away.
Myron Reed Wins Back World Middleweight Title From Lio Rush
MLW fans were treated to Rush vs Reed II this week. Rush had defeated Reed for the title on the January 6th Kings of the Colosseum show before defending it against Laredo Kid and Brian Pillman Jr.
Reed would win back the title after a back-and-forth match that could have gone either way. Perhaps the turning point in the match came when Rush hit his Frog Splash on Reed but was delayed in making the cover. The momentary delay allowed Reed to kick out from Rush’s finisher. Rush became frustrated at this point and his next attack was countered by the challenger into his “Cappn Crunch” move followed by his springboard 450 splash for the win. After the match, Reed’s Injustice stablemates Jordan Oliver and Calvin Tankman came out to celebrate with him.
Contra Unit “Gatekeeping” Title For Jacob Fatu
National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone has been calling out MLW World Champion Jacob Fatu but it appears Contra Unit is gatekeeping title matches for the champion. Alicia Atout explained this week that while Contra does have the ability to determine who faces the champion, there is one exception to that rule and that is the Battle Riot event, where the winner is guaranteed a title shot. The 40-man rumble styled event didn’t take place due to the pandemic in 2020.
MLW Top-10
This week, MLW revealed what will be the final top-10 rankings until the summer.
MLW World Champion: Jacob Fatu (Contra Unit)
Alexander Hammerstone (Dynasty) (National Openweight Champion)
Richard Holliday made quick work of Ariel Dominguez this week. Following the match, Holliday was about to be interviewed by Alicia Atout but was interrupted by his former Dynasty stablemate, Gino Medina. Holliday defeated Medina recently on Fusion but evidently Gino is not done with him. Medina attacked Holliday from behind and gave him a DDT onto the stage area to close the segment.
MLW 2021 Draft
MLW announced on last night’s show that the promotion will be holding a draft in the coming weeks. Recent reports have stated that MLW is looking to freshen up its roster and bring in some new faces. It seems likely then that this draft is how the promotion will announce new additions to its roster.
Coming Up In MLW
MLW will be airing classic episodes for the weeks leading up to its return on July 10th from the 2300 Arena. Saturday episodes will also air on VICE TV. No matches have been announced for the show thus far but El Jefe revealed in the episode’s closing segment that he plans on being there on July 10th. Earlier in the show, Marshall Von Erich also promised Tom Lawlor and Team Filthy that there will be a reckoning in Philadelphia as well.
