Original Plans For Mystery Partner In Night Of Champions Six-Man Tag-Team Match

As reported this weekend, WWE is teasing a six-man tag-team match with a mystery partner at the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view.

Originally, the man expected to fulfill the role as the third “mystery” member of the team of Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose to take on The Wyatt Family trio consisting of Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Braun Strowman, was “The Icon” Sting.

Instead, as noted in our original report, the leading candidate at this point as the mystery member of the Reigns-Ambrose team is none other than former Wyatt Family member Erick Rowan.

It should be noted that until further notice, this should be taken strictly as speculation at this point.

Charlotte Talks About Becoming #1 Contender, Living Up To Her Father’s Legacy & The Divas Revolution

Charlotte was Michael Cole’s guest for this week’s sit-down interview at WWE.com to discuss her upcoming Divas Championship match against Nikki Bella at Night of Champions.

Charlotte said the past few days do not seem real. She only started at NXT 3 years ago and she remembers watching Paige and Emma at NXT Arrival and wondering how she would ever reach that level. She never pictured herself in this position and she’s honored to have this opportunity.

4 years ago, she was a personal trainer and got emotional when revealing that it was her little brother who made her believe in herself and made her realize that this was a dream of her’s.

Michael Cole asked about her father and what it’s been like coming into this business as the daughter of the legendary Ric Flair. She joked that she’s crying right now and her father has always been an emotional guy. A lot of pepole think that doors have opened easy for her due to her family lineage, but it’s also put a lot of pressure on her to live up to his legacy. She is so proud of her father and she wants to carry on his legacy. She thinks a lot about what people think about her and questions if she’s only here because of who her father is.

All she knows how to do is work hard. Whether it’s been volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, gymnastics, track, diving, tennis. All she’s ever wanted to do is be the best. At the end of the day, she just wants to make her family proud.

Cole brought up Nikki Bella’s comments to WWE.com this week where she stated Charlotte isn’t ready for this and should go back to NXT. Charlotte says she loves NXT and would love to go back whenever she can. She’s disappointed that Nikki doesn’t look at her as competition. She wasn’t raised that way and looks at everyone fairly. Especially with the Divas Revolution, it makes her feel that Nikki doesn’t take her seriously. Nikki doubting her makes her blood boil and fuels her to become champion.

Charlotte was asked what the Divas Revolution means to her. She said she’s been through a lot, she’s seen a lot and the movement is not about fancy clothes or magazine covers. It’s about empowering women all around the world and she hopes that little girls and women around the world look at her as inspiration and follow their dreams.

WWE To Unveil Seth Rollins Statue On RAW?, Update On Sting’s Return

It looks like we may finally get to see the Seth Rollins statue that was never officially unveiled in the ring at last Monday’s post-SummerSlam edition of WWE RAW.

WWE is teasing that on Monday’s edition of RAW in Tampa, Florida, the Rollins statue may finally be revealed.

As noted, WWE has also announced that Sting, who attacked Rollins last week, setting up the Night Of Champions title match between the two, will be kicking off Monday’s show.

WWE posted the following teaser regarding Sting and Rollins, as well as the potential unveiling of the Rollins statue on RAW:

After beating both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, absorbing some serious punishment from The Beast Incarnate at WWE Battleground and defeating John Cena for the United States Title at SummerSlam, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has grown pretty fearless as of late, which is probably why he seems unfazed by Sting’s sudden re-emergence in WWE — a return that led to a one-on-one World Title clash between The Architect and The Vigilante at Night of Champions.

Rollins oozed bravado on SmackDown, where he wrote Sting off as an “artifact” and vowed to finish what The Cerebral Assassin started at The Show of Shows by crushing his “old bones to dust.” Is The Architect underestimating the WCW icon?

Plus, there’s still the matter of Rollins’ missing statue, which was to be unveiled last Monday night before Sting’s ambush. Will “The Future of WWE” reclaim his bronze likeness this week?

WWE Announces Another Match For Monday’s RAW

WWE also announced a first-ever “Divas Beat The Clock Challenge,” where Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch will compete to see who wins a WWE Divas title shot against Nikki Bella at Night Of Champions.

On Sunday, WWE announced that in addition to the opening segment with Sting and the “Divas Beat The Clock Challenge,” Dolph Ziggler will go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev.

WWE Announces Sting To Kick Off Monday’s RAW

WWE has announced that Sting will kick off this coming Monday’s edition of WWE RAW in Tampa, Florida.

WWE officials decided on the match last week just days before SummerSlam, according to a report at PWInsider.com.

Backstage Update On The Dudley Boyz’ WWE Return, Plans For Their Future

As seen on Monday’s post-SummerSlam edition of RAW, legendary tag-team The Dudley Boyz made their WWE return, taking out WWE Tag-Team Champions The New Day.

The Dudley Boyz are now back full-time with WWE, and will be going on the road with the company for pay-per-views, television and live events. There’s talk that both Bubba Ray Dudley and Devon Dudley have signed multi-year deals with WWE, however that has not been confirmed as of this writing.

The Dudleyz were kept hidden before coming out on RAW on Monday night, as practically nobody knew they were there until they came to “Gorilla Position” before going out to the ring. Top WWE officials were obviously aware of the fact that they were back, as they had pyro, music and new merchandise ready.

It appears that The Dudley Boyz will be facing The New Day, and possibly The Prime Time Players, who they squared off with on RAW as well, at the September 20th Night Of Champions pay-per-view.

Seth Rollins To Pull Double-Duty At WWE Night Of Champions PPV?

As reported on Monday evening, the Sting vs. Seth Rollins match at WWE Night Of Champions will be for Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that Vince McMahon has not signed off on Rollins defending his WWE United States Championship at Night Of Champions yet. It was also noted that it’s believed that Rollins will pull double-duty that night, defending his U.S. title in one match, and his WWE World Heavyweight title in the main event against Sting.

It’s worth pointing out that the current angle involving Rollins as a double-champion and the rumors that he will be pulling double-duty is similar to what was just done recently in Ring Of Honor with ROH World Champion and ROH TV Champion Jay Lethal.

Backstage Update On Plans For Sting’s WWE Return

As recently as last month, there had been talk of Sting competing at SummerSlam, teaming with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against the Wyatt Family.  One of the reasons WWE decided not to use Sting at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view is due to the fact that the card is already loaded with stars like The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, actor Stephen Amell and others.

With that said, it’s possible WWE is waiting to use Sting as a hook to sell the WWE Network in September for Night Of Champions, which takes place in Texas, where Sting currently lives.

If Sting is used in September, it’s possible he will work the previously rumored six-man tag-team match with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. A big factor in this match happening is Erick Rowan’s status, as he’s currently out of action due to injury and might not be back until November.
