The current belief within WWE is that if things go as planned with the filming of the WWE Studios film “Lockdown,” that Dean Ambrose will make his return doing a run-in either at the Night Of Champions pay-per-view on September 21st or on RAW the next night.
We have been reporting for weeks that there was a strong possibility that Ambrose could appear at the Night Of Champions show and now it seems that WWE is actually planning for that, or as noted, for him to return the next night on RAW.
– The top two possibilities for matches on the WWE Night Of Champions “Kickoff Show” right now appear to be either Bo Dallas vs. Jack Swagger or Adam Rose and The Bunny vs. Titus O’Neil and Heath Slater.
– As we reported on Tuesday, Diamond Dallas Page noted during a recent interview that he received a text from Chris Jericho where he claimed he broke his toe during a “Lionsault” spot in his steel cage match with Bray Wyatt on this week’s RAW. Apparently that was a simple case of miscommunication, as Jericho reportedly told DDP that he “almost broke his toe” during the match. Jericho himself quipped via Twitter that he “jammed his toe” during the match.
There is talk in WWE right now of Bray Wyatt feuding with Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Intercontinental Championship as his next program.
The steel cage match Wyatt had on RAW with Chris Jericho was said to be the blow-off to their program.
As far as Wyatt’s status for Night Of Champions is concerned, there is talk that while he may not compete in an actual match on the show, he may shoot an angle of some kind to set up his next feud.

– The season three premiere of WWE Total Divas on E! this past Sunday night drew 1.23 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. The show faced strong competition in the form of NFL’s Sunday Night Football, which drew 21.20 million viewers. By comparison, the season three premiere edition of Total Divas drew along the lines of what the past seasons have drawn, as the season one premiere drew 1.3 million viewers back in July of 2013 and the season two premiere drew 1.072 million viewers.
– WWE is advertising Dean Ambrose for the September 22nd edition of RAW in Memphis, Tennessee. That is the post-Night Of Champions edition of the show, which has led to additional speculation that Ambrose may appear at next Sunday’s pay-per-view. As noted in the past, Ambrose is currently off filming the WWE Studios film “Lockdown,” which wraps up the day before Night Of Champions.
It was announced on Monday’s “season premiere” of WWE RAW that on next week’s show, which is the WWE Night Of Champions “go-home” edition of RAW, Brock Lesnar will return live.
Also announced on RAW in an excellent promo segment in the ring between John Cena and Paul Heyman, it was revealed by Cena that if Lesnar didn’t show up to RAW next week, that Cena would beat up Heyman. So, you can likely expect some sort of confrontation between Lesnar and Cena on the final RAW leading into their rematch at the Night Of Champions pay-per-view,.
Finally, it was announced on RAW that on this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown, an “International Arm-Wrestling Contest” will take place between Rusev and Mark Henry.
The following are highlights from the latest Jim Ross blog:
On WWE Night Of Champions: “WWE’s Night of Champions PPV in a few weeks headlined by Lesnar vs Cena in the rubber match for the WWE title is by far the strongest match on the card which provides Sheamus vs. Cesaro US Title bout and/or Ziggler vs. Miz IC Title bout a dark horse chance to over achieve what is expected of them and turn heads. Their only enemy is to be saddled with not enough time to tell a viable story.”
On Jerry Springer and Michael Sam: “So, Michael Sam is out and Jerry Springer is in next week on RAW. Nice payday and exposure for the 70 year old talk show host who actually tapes his TV show in Stamford, Ct. Unfortunately some fans will ‘damn’ this segment before it even airs which isn’t fair but it’s reality.”
On pro wrestling announcing: “As I said on a recent Ross Report Podcast, I’m of the mindset that WWE would serve its self well if they had separate announce teams for RAW and Smackdown. I’ve expressed this sentiment for months. I’m reluctant to talk announcing because it’s often times thought that I’m angling for work which is laughably ridiculous. It’s just my opinion that WWE shows need different sound tracks to give each program some exclusive identity. I’d have @MichaelCole anchor the flagship RAW broadcast with @JCLayfield and @JerryLawler and utilize @WWETomPhillips to anchor Smackdown perhaps with @ReneeYoungWWE before another network nabs her. Adding a third member of the Smackdown crew would be fine too as it’s good to experiment to see where the chemistry exists.”
“Again, I honestly say that @MichaelCole is much better suited to navigate today’s sports entertainment presentation than I ever was. I was a wrestling play by play guy of which there’s little demand for these days on the biggest stages. Times change and it’s challenging for some WWE broadcasts to sound more like an infomercial than an entertaining, ‘sporting’ event with so many agendas and masters to serve.”
“I sincerely wish all the talents broadcasting wrestling in today’s world the best because those days were the best of my life within the wrestling biz but, again, I will reiterate that I have no desire to re-engage. Just too many new, irons in the fire. Nonetheless, someone will turn what I’ve said here into some sort of covert message or accuse me of not being truthful but don’t waste too much of your time on that concept and finish your homework or jump back on the internet.”

WWE has reportedly come to terms with Brock Lesnar on an agreement that will allow the company to book him as frequently as they want – for a price.
Previously, Lesnar was committed to work a select number of appearances and WWE would have to map out the storylines and dates to work around Lesnar’s schedule. WWE is now able to book Lesnar for RAW shows and pay-per-views whenever they want to use him, on a a pro-rate basis, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Lesnar will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against John Cena on September 21st at Night of Champions.
As things stand right now, the only matches officially set for the September 21st WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view in Nashville, Tennessee are Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Sheamus vs. Cesaro for the WWE United States Championship and Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
According to reports, two additional matches that are all but confirmed are The Usos vs. Goldust and Stardust for the WWE Tag-Team Championships and Mark Henry vs. Rusev.
The plan right now for the WWE Divas Championship match on the card appears to be a four-way with Paige defending against AJ Lee, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella, as all four were linked together on all of WWE’s television shows this week.
Another match likely for the show, although it may not be a pay-per-view match, is Bo Dallas vs. Jack Swagger.
The key Superstars left without matches that are expected on the show are Chris Jericho (in his final match of his current run with WWE), Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.
It appears WWE is going with a Reigns vs. Rollins match, so they may go with Jericho vs. Orton since the Jericho vs. Wyatt and Reigns vs. Orton matches are set for next week’s RAW to combat the season premiere of Monday Night Football. However, they could either way, with one final Jericho vs. Wyatt “blow-off” match, as well as another Reigns vs. Orton bout.
As noted in the past, the WWE Studios film “Lockdown,” which Dean Ambrose is off filming, is set to wrap up on the Saturday before Night Of Champions, so he could end up on the show if WWE chooses to go that route.
According to those within WWE, there are two main options as to how the company will book the finish of the main event at the Night Of Champions pay-per-view.
While at this point this is only speculation, one idea is for Brock Lesnar to defeat John Cena when someone screws Cena over, leaving Cena to then work with that person coming out of the show while Lesnar works with other Superstars until facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31.
The other idea is for Cena to defeat Lesnar, while Seth Rollins loses to Roman Reigns, if they go that route with those two, and then have Rollins cash in his “Money In The Bank” briefcase on Cena.
The latest Michael Cole weekly sit-down interview, which once again features WWE COO Triple H, is now online.
During their discussion this week, “The Game” talks to WWE’s lead announcer about next week’s “season premiere” of WWE RAW, the ongoing drama between The Bella Twins, John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar II at the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view and more.
You can watch the complete Michael Cole and HHH interview above.
– WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler is expected to defend the gold against The Miz at Night of Champions later this month. Not a major revelation there, since the two have continued their feud since Ziggler won the title from Miz at SummerSlam. However, on last night’s RAW pre-show, Alex Riley spoke as if the match has already been announced, which it has not.
Dolph Ziggler will be on Miz TV tonight on Main Event, so it’s possible the challenge will be issued there.
– Damien Sandow tweeted the following teaser about this week’s #Sandow60 web series:
Watch and pay attention to this weeks #Sandow60 . Mark my words , I meant what I said. Patience is a virtue. You will never see it coming.
For those wondering, Brock Lesnar is not scheduled to appear at tonight’s edition of WWE RAW in Des Moines, Iowa.
Lesnar’s next scheduled RAW appearance is at the September 15th edition of the show, which is the final RAW before the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view. That is not to say, however, that more pre-taped footage of Lesnar and Paul Heyman will not air on the RAW shows that he does not personally attend.
It’s worth noting that the recent pre-taped Lesnar/Heyman interview that aired on RAW last week was actually originally scheduled to air on tonight’s show.
– With no WWE live events this weekend, several WWE Superstars and WWE Divas are on a rare vacation. For example, noted WWE couples Cody Rhodes and Eden, as well as Rusev and Lana have been in Hawaii this week.
– Below is the “SmackDown Fallout” for this week’s show, which features WWE United States Champion Sheamus, who talks about his upcoming title defense against Cesaro at WWE Night Of Champions.
WWE has confirmed the rumored WWE United States Championship match between Sheamus and Cesaro for the Night Of Champions pay-per-view on September 21st. Cesaro became the number one contender by defeating Rob Van Dam on Monday’s edition of RAW.
As of right now, the only other confirmed match for Night Of Champions is the WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch between Brock Lesnar and John Cena.
As noted recently, Dean Ambrose could potentially work the upcoming WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view, as filming for the WWE Studios movie “Lockdown,” which he stars in, is scheduled to wrap up the day before the WWE pay-per-view.
It’s also worth noting that Ambrose is scheduled for both the RAW and SmackDown shows after Night Of Champions.
– Although Dean Ambrose is scheduled to miss a few weeks of WWE television while he is off filming the new WWE Studios film “Lockdown,” it is still possible that he will make an appearance at the September 21st WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view. Filming for “Lockdown” is scheduled to wrap up on September 20th and Ambrose is actually being advertised locally for Night Of Champions.
– Above is an exclusive clip of the WWE Studios film “See No Evil 2,” which features actress Katharine Isabelle and Kane.
– It looks like Goldust and Stardust may have turned heel on this week’s edition of RAW. After winning a WWE Tag-Team title match via count out, Goldust got on the microphone and accused The Usos of getting counted out on purpose. After demanding a rematch right then and there, Goldust and Stardust instead attacked The Usos in heel fashion, focusing on the injured knee of Uso and attacking it violently.
– As noted last week, WWE filmed some footage and interviews with Brock Lesnar backstage at last Monday night’s RAW. The footage is scheduled to air on some of the week’s that Lesnar isn’t scheduled for television. On this week’s edition of RAW, the first of those segments aired, which featured Lesnar talking about his destruction of John Cena at SummerSlam while clips were shown of their match. They also touched on the scheduled immediate rematch between the two at the upcoming WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view.
– Cesaro became the new number one contender to the WWE United States Championship by winning a number one contender’s match against Rob Van Dam at this week’s RAW. Because of that, it is expected that Cesaro vs. Sheamus for the U.S. title will take place at the upcoming WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view.
– Throughout Monday’s RAW, WWE advertised that the first 100 hours of WCW Nitro will be added to the WWE Network starting next week. There will also be new episodes of the new Monday Night War series.
As noted last week, the current working plan in WWE is for Roman Reigns to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at next year’s WrestleMania 31 event in Santa Clara, California. Apparently, the decision for Reigns-Lesnar was decided upon shortly before or immediately after this year’s WrestleMania XXX event in New Orleans. While plans are always subject to change, especially in WWE, the direction right now still appears to be Reigns-Lesnar at the next WrestleMania.
Originally, Lesnar’s SummerSlam and Night Of Champions matches were scheduled to be against Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The idea was that Lesnar, after breaking Undertaker’s streak, would continue to break the hearts of wrestling fans by killing Bryan’s big moment, continuing his dominance until Reigns saved the day and ended Lesnar’s reign at WrestleMania 31.
Obviously the plans were changed to Lesnar-Cena when Bryan went down with an injury, however the rest of the story seems to be still in place.
WWE RAW takes place tonight at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The main focus on this week’s show is the first televised appearance by John Cena since he was destroyed by Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam.
Also advertised for tonight is a Hall Of Fame segment, which will include Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels talking about the upcoming Lesnar vs. Cena rematch at WWE Night Of Champions.

– WWE Chairman Vince McMahon celebrates his 69th birthday today. McMahon was born on August 24, 1945.
– As noted earlier this weekend, WWE has announced a segment for Monday’s RAW that features Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels all commenting on the upcominng rematch between John Cena and Brock Lesnar at WWE Night Of Champions. One of the reasons WWE is loading up this Monday’s show is because it is the first time in history that WWE will be going up against the Emmy Awards on NBC.
As noted earlier today, WWE announced that a “Hall Of Fame” segment will open this coming Monday’s RAW, as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels will comment on the upcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch between John Cena and Brock Lesnar at WWE Night Of Champions.
Hogan tweeted the following about the segment:
You can't bring legends together w/o me brother.Got some stuff to say about MY champ @JohnCena, see you Hulkamaniacs at #Raw on Monday HH
