NWA owner Billy Corgan has confirmed that NWA Power is making a return. As reported earlier, the NWA will be returning to PPV with the show “Back for the Attack” in less than 3 weeks. The show was spotted in a listing on FITE TV. Now, Corgan has said in a recent interview that NWA is in a deal with FITE TV but NWA Power is also making a return as the show starts taping episodes soon.
The first episode of NWA Power will take place on March 23, two days after Back for the Attack. The episodes are set to air at 6:05 PM on Thursday nights. Back for the Attack is listen on FITE TV for a cost of $19.99 USD.
In a bizzare turn of events concerning fans of the promotion, NWA took down all their content from YouTube, leaving the entire channel blank. Power was previously hosted on NWA’s YouTube channel so fans were left wondering about the future of the company at the time.
“What I didn’t anticipate was how much people would love the format and want more of it and not less of it,” Billy Corgan told Associated Press in an interview. “In our downtime, we did a fan survey and the No. 1 thing was, don’t get rid of ‘Power.’”
Corgan said that NWA is now taking the steps that they intended to take a year ago. “I feel like we’re finally taking the steps we were hoping to take a year ago. We were never in any financial peril,” Corgan added. “We were totally on a growth pattern. The plan for last year before things kind of hit the skids was to start pivoting. We were in discussions with Live Nation about running live events to help bring in revenue and expand who was watching the product. It was more about growing pains stuff, but we didn’t have any problems internally with the product.”
It was reported this week that NWA would resume TV tapings this month. The last set of tapings for Power took place in January 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the promotion had to cancel its planned Crockett Cup 2020 PPV.
Fans of the National Wrestling Alliance will be pleased to know that the company plans on resuming television tapings later this month. This comes on the heels of the promotion mysteriously removing all of its content from YouTube. What’s next for the NWA was addressed recently on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“So, this is the situation with the NWA. I don’t know why they pulled all their videos from YouTube but they are going to be taping March 21st to 24th and I was told it will come out in the next couple of days why they did it and it will be a positive,” said Dave Meltzer.
The NWA is expecting to make a public announcement in the next few days.
The last set of TV tapings the company held was in January of 2020. Upon the onset of the pandemic, the promotion was forced to cancel its planned Crockett Cup 2020 PPV event that spring. The NWA was loosely affiliated with the UWN shows at Thunder Studios last fall, however. Those shows were shut down in December.
NWA Mourns Loss of “The Question Mark” Joseph Hudson (aka Jocephus)
Unfortunately, it is a sad time for the NWA. Last week, Joseph Hudson (The Question Mark, Jocephus) passed away suddenly. The NWA’s wrestlers, staff, and fans have been paying tribute to the Mongrovian Karate expert online.
The National Wrestling Alliance is currently promoting joint PPVs along with David Marquez’s United Wrestling Network. All 3 major NWA singles titles have been defended on the first 3 PPVs. Recently, however, NWA owner William Patrick Corgan announced that the company is working on bringing back NWA Powerrr soon as well.
“One year ago, we shot our first episode of NWA Powerrr,” Corgan wrote. “Suffice to say it’s been a crazy ride ever since. From trending #1 world wide on our debut to successful PPV’s to having to stop many plans (including the Crockett Cup) due to the plague, to Rosa appearing with the NWA Women’s Championship on @allelitewrestling to now adding our voice to the collective that is Prime Time Live on the @unitedwrestlingnetwork, I can only say to our great fans ‘hang in there.'”
Corgan continued to detail his plans for NWA Powerrr to return soon.
“We are currently talking about brining back POWERRR very soon, even if it means we can’t have fans in the stands because we just want to get back to work. But it’s nice to see our friend and former champion Tim Storm here. If anyone can lead us out of this, it’s a man or woman like him: who gives it all he or she’s got even when the chips are done. That sounds more grim than I mean it, ’cause yeah: still here, still kicking, and ready to get ready to rock…”
The NWA was forced to cancel its planned “Crockett Cup” PPV in March due to the ongoing pandemic.
The relaunched National Wrestling Alliance is currently in a state of limbo. The brand was beginning to build a solid viewer base for the NWA Powerrr YouTube series.
The league suspended operations and restructured its executive management team after NWA Vice President Dave Lagana was accused of sexually assaulting female wrestler Liz Savage. The NWA cut ties with Lagana, leaving the company scrambling.
Pursuant to allegations made by pro wrestler Liz Savage on her Twitter account, 6/18/2020, NWA VP David Lagana has resigned his position, effective immediately. As well all production of NWA content is temporarily halted, pending a restructuring of executive management positions.
With NWA’s future uncertain, a new report from Fightful provides new information on a few NWA talent contracts and departures:
Ricky Starks was offered upwards of $1000/month from NWA for a new contract offer before he left the company, per a report by Fightful Select. Starks is now with AEW, after answering the open challenge for Cody Rhodes’ TNT Championship.
Former NWA Television Champion “Outlandish” Zicky Dice was reportedly offered only offered $250 per month at one point, this was also rejected.
Thunder Rosa is also apparently now signed with the company.
Allysin Kay ‘still plans’ on working with NWA going forward.
NWA Powerrr commentator Stu Bennett recently appeared on Busted Open Radio to discuss his move to the YouTube based brand. During the interview Bennett would give his rundown of some of the next breakout stars to come from the revitalised National Wrestling Alliance programme.
“Obviously when I turned up I wasn’t familiar with Thunder Rosa at all” Stu Bennett began. “She’s the NWA Women’s Champion so I was very new to learning curve. But the very first time I clapped eyes on her, I knew immediately this girl is gonna be box office she she’s so good and that’s an obvious one.”
Bennett would also praise the former NWA Television Champion, Ricky Starks. “I think Ricky Starks is another one. It’s very obvious he’s kind of earlier on the curve than Thunder Rosa at the moment but he’s on this build, this growth cycle. At the moment where he’s gonna go? I think he’s really going to go to that kind of A List level, eventually. But again he’s on the build.”
The former WWE Superstar was also quick to praise some of the more quirky characters in the company, including the Question Mark and current Television Champion Zicky Dice. “There’s other people who organically, just randomly get over” Bennett stated. “You never would anticipate the Question Mark thing. It’s utterly bizarre. But it just works, people love it, the storytelling is crazy, it’s ridiculous. Another guy who I wasn’t familiar with probably four or five weeks ago, is a guy called Zicky Dice. And it was like a kind of an 80’s sleazeball character, but I fell in love with him almost immediately. He’s a fantastic character and another guy you can’t take your eyes off of.”
You can check out NWA Powerrr every week via their Official YouTube channel.

NWA had an unfortunate situation on Tuesday night that resulted in an edit being made to its latest episode of Powerrr.
The promotion had to temporarily pull the latest episode of the show because of a comment made by Jim Cornette, who provides color commentary for the show.
In the episode, Trevor Murdoch was battling NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis in a match. This is where Cornette’s comment was made that offended fans.
Cornette stated, “Trevor Murdoch is the only person who can strap a bucket of fried chicken to his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia. Trevor Murdoch can take care of himself!”
NWA Vice President David Lagana took to his official Twitter account where he issued a statement and an apology for the comment.
Lagana tweeted, “On tonight’s episode of NWA Powerrr airing on November 19th 2019, one of our talents made comments which some viewers found offensive. We deeply regret the error and apologize. We have temporarily taken the program down while we correct this error.”
The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) has been receiving praise for their show, Powerrr, since it first premiered on YouTube. Many people have pointed to its old-school aesthetic as providing something different compared to other options. Now WWE Hall of Famer Edge has praised the show.
Taking to Twitter, Edge wrote “I love #NWAPowerrr it’s a love letter to 70’s and particularly 80’s wrestling, which is when I fell head over heels in love with this colorfully insane beast. The promos, the action, the lack of dives. Ahhhhh. Good job @Billy Good job @Lagana Good job everyone else involved.”

Powerrr has received positive feedback from other wrestlers including Mickie James and NXT United Kingdom Champion WALTER. WWE commentator Corey Graves has previously said it was a “Really fun throwback presentation. Old school in a good way” while Bully Ray praised the talent, adding that NWA Powerrr had “Good character development and storytelling.”
Even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has given the show a chance, enjoying what he saw. He congratulated the team behind it, reflecting on his time growing up within the territory system as he pinpointed the show’s “cool vintage feel.”
“Congrats Jim, the boys, crew etc. Stumbled across this show last night and enjoyed it. I grew up in territories and started my career at channel 5 in Memphis so I have a lot of love/respect for small scale, crowd tv shows. Cool vintage feel. Keep working hard boys. Rock”

Aron Stevens comes out next where he reminds Marquez to tell everyone they are not allowed to make eye contact. “Silence! I am here to announce I requested a rematch.” He calls Starks’ victory a fluke. “You can call it ring rust, you can call it whatever. Bottom line… I am better than him.”
Stevens goes on to say, “I am going to reveal something, I am the great great great great grandson of William Shakespeare himself. And I am now going to share a quote. Are you booing Shakespeare? A man may die but once, and I have just coined a quote a man may fall but a thousand times.” as the crowd chants “You got beat!” and boos. He says if NWA doesn’t make good on their promises, he will just go back to Hollywood as he holds a script.
NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship holder Nick Aldis in an ad for RetroMania Wrestling available for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 is set to be released in 2020.

Winner: The Dawsons
Interview
The Dawsons make their way to the interview podium following the match. They begin, “We’ve already beaten the number one contenders. So I say along with my brother, we need a tag title shot! Every single team we have been in that ring with, we have bulldozed through them. We deserve a title shot!” as the crowd boos each statement made.
The crowd begins clapping as Eddie Kingston and Homicide walk onto the set. The crowd chants “Eddie, Eddie, Eddie!” He begins, “I’m not here to bitch and moan. There was no disqualification. You guys won, pat yourselves on the back. Make ur money. But let me tell you something right now. If you guys want that title shot, if you need the title shot, why don’t you guys come wrestle us again. I’ll tell you why. The reason I’m saying that is we still have a chance at the tag team title shot at the NWA Tag Team Champions. We are willing to put that on the line if you are willing to fight us.”
The Dawsons reply, “We beat you guys already, but you know what, we’ll think about it.” As the they walk off set, the crowd chants of “You suck!” can be heard. A confused looking Homicide and Kingston watch The Dawsons as they walk off.
It is announced that Thunder Rosa will make her in-ring debut later tonight, and that Tim Storm is up next when we return to NWA Powerrr.
NWA returns to pay-per-view on December 14, 2019 on Fite titled “Into The Fire” which is already sold out, followed by NWA Powerrr on December 15, 2019 which is also sold out. Last, NWA Powerr coming to Atlanta, Georgia on December 16, 2019 still has limited tickets remaining.
Tim Storm Pre-Taped Interview
Tim Storm being interviewed ringside before the show. The interviewer begins by Eli Drake saying Storm has had his ups and his downs, lately more so on the downs. Drake asks what’s going through his mind and if he plans on hanging up his boots for good, to which Storm responds, “There’s a lot going on in my mind right now. I never thought about it at the time, but part of being on that mountain top, I guess, is you can’t be there forever.”
Storm goes on to say, “I’ve been in a valley. I really have. It’s been difficult. I kinda saw this as an opportunity, to not just climb back on the mountain top, but to kinda redeem myself. Obviously it didn’t work out the way I thought it was going to. I don’t regret anything. I don’t regret taking the challenge. Nick Aldis is an incredible champion. I will hold my head up high. I’m proud of the effort I put in to this match. I don’t know where it’s going to go from here. A lot of decisions to still be made.”
“Just hearing you say (the 10 pounds of gold is off the table) is heartbreaking. Hearing you say it’s not within my grasp. I knew it was a possibility.” Drake goes on to say Storm could go after other championship titles to which Storm responds, “Every championship in the NWA is important. I would be honored to hold any of those titles. I just don’t know if that is the direction I am going.” Storm is interrupted as he is escorted away by Nick Aldis mid-interview.
The camera zooms in on both Storm and Aldis who had moved to another corner outside of the ring to speak privately. It can be heard saying, “It’s not my place to tell you what to say or what to do. But I just wanted to stop you before you said something you couldn’t take back. Look around you. None of this happens without you. It doesn’t happen without you or me. We built this house. Don’t let people like Eli Drake waltz in here and start telling you things or putting things in your head that you don’t believe. You know who you are. Everything is possible. I’m not going to let you walk away from this. Ya know? This is your house, just as much as it’s mine. You know who you are.”
Storm is left looking around the empty arena with tears in his eyes, left to think on Aldis’ words.

Belle continues “She knows how hard I have fought, in so many companies, not just alongside her…” Allysin Kay makes her way out, interrupting the interview.

This ain’t Dr. Phil…” as Kay is interrupted by Thunder Rosa with an elbow to the back of the head of Allysin Kay. Rosa smiles and sticks out her tongue as she throws Kay into the ring. National Wrestling Alliance’s President Billy Corgan recently discussed the company’s new wrestling show NWA Powerrr, and revealed that he was overwhelmed by the unexpected support from fans for the show.
Speaking to PWInsider, Corgan said that the show is doing “20 times further along” than what the company expected. Corgan attributed this success to the new alternative wrestling scene.
“We’ve just been blown away,” Corgan said. “We certainly thought we would do fine, but the numbers and the feedback from the fans has just been overwhelming. I mean, we’re 20 times further along than we thought we’d be at this point. So, it showed that the last couple of years investing and working with different companies and building relationships in the business have really paid of. Word of mouth got around, and certainly, to AW’s credit and of course many others, New Japan. What’s called this alternate universe, this non-WWE universe professional wrestling is kind of kicking into another gear. We’re able to ride that wave at the same time as well.”
Corgan also talked about the creative freedom that the company gives their talent. Corgan revealed that NWA gives full freedom to the wrestlers, they just tell them what they’re trying to accomplish, then set the wrestlers free to do whatever they can do to get the story across.
“Sure. Okay. So, let’s just pretend we’re talking about an imaginary wrestler. I would pull that wrestler aside, and say ‘Here’s what we’re trying to accomplish. Here’s where we’re going. Here’s the in and here’s the out. You’re on your own.’ And literally, we’re not even giving people time to use … We’re letting them run free. Absolutely. The only sort of stopgap measure is, we tell Galli or Marquez, ‘If you think it’s going long, you pull the plug on the fly.’ But that’s it. So, if an Eli Drake or an Aaron Stevens or a Nick Aldis is on fire, they can run as long as they want to go. There’s limits on our talent. Literally, the only thing we’ve said is let’s try not to curse, because we don’t think that’s necessary for what we’re trying to get across. But beyond that, talent has literal freedom as long as they’re within the lanes of the angle.”
NWA Powerrr debuted its first episode on October 8 on the company’s official YouTube and Facebook. The company said they wanted the show to be freely available for everyone to watch around the world without any restrictions or paywalls. The show airs every Tuesday on the company’s online platforms.
