WWE Officially Announces NXT TakeOver: WarGames 4

For the fourth straight year, WWE is bringing back WarGames as an upcoming NXT TakeOver special.

During Wednesday’s episode of NXT, the company announced that the NXT TakeOver: WarGames 4 event is slated to go down on Sunday, December 6th.

WWE aired a video package featuring Shotzi Blackheart. She also was included in the video package for Halloween Havoc that served as a special themed episode of NXT TV last month.

What’s interesting is that Shotzi stated in the video that both she and Candice LeRae will be going to war. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if they will be featured in a Women’s WarGames Match, but it’s possible.

Blackheart and LeRae have been feuding in storylines dating back to before the NXT Great American Bash event. LeRae and Indi Hartwell took out Blackheart on NXT after LeRae had picked up a victory over Toni Storm.

WWE has yet to announce a location for the show, but it’s expected to take place in Orlando, Florida at the Capitol Wrestling Center.

Last year’s show was headlined by Team Ciampa (Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic & Kevin Owens) defeating The Undisputed ERA (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong).

The gimmick match was originally used in the NWA and later held annually in WCW.

Before the match, Mia Yim, who was slated to compete, was attacked backstage and replaced by Dakota Kai. There was a heel turn during the match as Kai attacked Nox in the holding cell, which marked her heel turn.

The company set up this match when a big brawl involving these stars broke out on the October 30th episode of NXT on the USA Network. NXT General Manager William Regal came out and yelled WarGames, which made the match the official between the heels and babyfaces.

When the contest featuring the women was announced, many fans thought it would serve as the main event of this show as the match would be historic.

WWE decided to bring the match back for NXT TakeOver event that took place on November 18, 2017 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames III event while a change has been made to a top match.

During Wednesday’s episode of NXT on the USA Network, WWE announced that Matt Riddle vs. Finn Balor in a singles match would take place.

Riddle was slated to be part of the Men’s WarGames Match at this same show. However, Riddle has been replaced by Donovan Dijak in the contest.

Originally, Balor was expected to wrestle Johnny Gargano at this event but due to a neck injury, Gargano is now on the sidelines.

Bobby Fish Injury Update

At last night’s NXT TakeOver: WarGames event from the Staples Center, Los Angeles, the War Raiders, Ricochet and Pete Dunne defeated The Undisputed Era in a WarGames match.

After the match, fans expressed concern over the status of Undisputed Era member Bobby Fish, who reportedly had to be helped out by officials.

During the conference call after the event, Triple H provided an update on Bobby Fish’s health condition. He said in the conference call that Bobby Fish was just fine and nothing serious happened.

Fish had just returned to the squared circle after several months as he was out with a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee in March. He underwent surgery for his knee and was out of action for six months. He returned to NXT in October and assisted his fellow Undisputed Era members in their match against The War Raiders.
