Nyla Rose Storms Off From AEW Dynamite Post-Show Interview (Video)

Nyla Rose was not happy following her loss on Wednesday night to Riho on the debut episode of AEW Dynamite. Rose made herself available for a post-show media scrum but ended up storming off from the interview shortly after.

Rose refused to answer a question regarding the popularity of her opponent from Wednesday night and would leave the interview area entirely not long after being asked what is next for her now that she’s dropped the inaugural AEW women’s world title match.

Video of Rose storming off from the AEW Dynamite post-show media scrum can be viewed in the player below:

Nyla Rose Storms Off From Interview

Reporter: “Are you surprised by the reaction that Riho gets from people and crowds like this?”

Nyla Rose: “Who’s got a better question?”

Reporter: “What’s next?”

Nyla Rose: “I don’t know what’s next. Everything that’s happened since I signed with this company hasn’t been quite what’s promised. Women’s triple threat match, who comes sauntering down to the ring? Awesome Kong. Women’s title match, why on Earth is..”

Rose then grew increasingly frustrated, mumbled something about an “EVP” and then stormed off from the interview room.

Riho is scheduled to make her first title defence on the 10/16 edition of Dynamite from Philadelphia.

Riho Crowned Inaugural AEW Women’s Champion

The inaugural AEW (All Elite Wrestling) Women’s Champion has been crowned.

As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Washington, D.C., at the famed Capital One Arena on the TNT Network, Riho beat Nyla Rose to become the first-ever champion under the AEW banner.

These two stars earned this opportunity to compete for the title back in August at the All Out event at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL that aired on pay-per-view.

Rose won the Women’s Casino Battle Royale that took place on the pre-show. Competitors in the Women’s Casino Battle Royale included the following names:

Leva Bates, Faby Apache, Priscilla Kelly, Shelondra, Penelope Ford, Shazza McKenzie, Sadie Gibbs, Big Swole, Dr. Britt Baker, Tenille Dashwood, Ivelisse, Bea Priestley, Brandi Rhodes, Awesome Kong, Allie, Nicole Savoy, Teal Piper, ODB, Jazz, and Mercedes Martinez.

On the flip side, Riho beat Hikaru Shida in a singles match that took place on the main card.

The promotion has already confirmed that the Women’s World Championship will be on the line on this show in Philadelphia on October 16 at the Liacouras Center.

AEW Talent Discuss Commitment To Diversity And Inclusion

Ahead of All Elite Wrestling’s TNT premiere next Wednesday, several AEW talents and personnel spoke with The Post regarding the promotion’s core values including their focus on diversity and inclusion.

WarnerMedia’s Brett Weitz, who is the general manager for TNT, TBT and truTV, spoke about AEW’s aim for their product to “look like the world does.”

“We expect the ring to look like the world does,” Weitz said. “When you open up the prism and spread the lens out wider and show people that you as a consumer are represented here… that’s really empowering for people.”

AEW’s Chief Branding Officer, Brandi Rhodes, added to this. She explained that AEW doesn’t look at race, gender or sexuality, they judge the talent purely on their wrestling ability:

“[We’re] looking at everybody as a wrestling star,” Brandi stated. “Sometimes people see wrestlers for other attributes they have — their race, gender or sexuality — we just see this person as an incredible athlete, and we need them on our team.”

Safe Space

One AEW star who is grateful for AEW’s values is Nyla Rose. Despite being a transgender competitor, AEW has never made a point of it or turned it into a storyline. Rose admits this was “huge” for her.

“That was a huge thing for me,” Rose said, before adding, “transphobic critics who say AEW is shoving [her gender] down their throats couldn’t be more wrong. Nobody said anything!”

Commenting on dealing with daily hate, Rose said, “It’s a little hard to see such hateful, spiteful vitriol being spewed daily. It doesn’t cost you anything to use my proper pronouns. That’s how I identify, that’s who I am, that’s not a character, that doesn’t go away when the camera stops rolling.”

Ultimately, Rose is thankful that AEW has her back and are taking steps to make sure AEW is a “safe space for everyone, so everyone feels welcome.”

AEW: Dynamite premieres on TNT next week, October 2nd.

Nyla Rose Talks About Being AEW’s First Transgender Wrestler

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) intend to live up to their core value that AEW is for everyone.

The promotion signed Nyla Rose to a full-time contract earlier this year. This signing saw her make history, becoming the first out transgender competitor to be signed by a major U.S. wrestling company.

Speaking with SI.com, Rose discussed her journey to AEW, and what it means to her to represent the trans community on such a large platform, claiming to be willing to shoulder the backlash that may come.

“As much negativity that I do see, I do see much more love and acceptance,” Rose said. “It’s just that sadly negative things seem to get highlighted more than positive things.”

She continued, “”If I can bear the weight, if I can hold up all the hatred and everything and carry that on my back, I know that I’m strong enough to do it,” she said. “If the people out there need to beat me up and I need to absorb that so that the next generation, the youth, can have an easier time, I gladly welcome that.”

“AEW Has Felt That I Am Worthy Of A Chance”

Looking to the future, Rose hopes to be able to set the tone, inspiring future wrestlers to pursue their dreams no matter their gender or sexuality.

“I’m really hoping to set the tone and set the pace and create that environment that’s going to fuel the next generation,” she said. “Not just trans people, but inspire anybody to say, ‘Hey, these women lit that on fire. I want to be that. I want to do that.'”

“AEW has felt that I am worthy of a chance. All I can ask is that some of the people out there, the fans who might be a little bit tight-minded, just give me a chance to show you what I can do in the ring. That’s all.”

Despite signing and booking a transgender wrestler, All Elite Wrestling never made a point of it. None of their advertising or marketing revolved around Rose being transgender, focusing instead on the matchup at Double Or Nothing itself.
