Omos Relinquishes GHC Tag Title, Announces WWE Return

WWE’s Omos is on his way back to programming, close to two years after his most recent televised singles match. At Pro Wrestling NOAH’s latest event, Omos and Jack Morris retained the GHC Tag Team Championship. After the match, Omos relinquished his title to Daga. Sharing his future plans, Omos revealed that he will be leaving the promotion for the time being to go back to WWE.

“I’m going back to WWE so I’ll give this belt to Daga. Please increase the value of this belt. The champs are now Jack Morris & Daga. I don’t know when but I’ll come back”

Omos and Morris captured the titles at the start of January, making the Nigerian the first contracted WWE main roster talent to win NOAH gold. Throughout his reign, Omos had remained in Japan where he learned plenty about the culture and cuisine.

Omos’ return to WWE will come close to two years after his most recent singles match on TV. That match came at WWE Backlash 2023, where he was defeated by Seth Rollins. His most recent match for WWE was as part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal during the April 5, 2024, edition of WWE SmackDown.

With Omos’ announcement coming mere days before the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble, fans are speculating as to whether he will be a part of this year’s Men’s Rumble match. Whatever is planned, Omos is ready to bring his giant frame back to WWE and lay waste to opponents.

WWE Giant Omos Declares Himself Wrestling’s ‘Super Mega-Weight’

Since the beginning of the new year, Omos has been making waves in Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan. Teaming up with Jack Morris, he secured the GHC Tag Team Titles, solidifying his presence in the promotion. Following the latest Pro Wrestling NOAH event, Omos delivered a bold promo, declaring himself “the super mega-weight.”

“My dominance continues. I said it in the video, I did dominate. Every match, I have done nothing but dominate. Don’t forget that the moniker is now the super mega-weight, and there’s nothing no one can do about it.”

Omos in Japan

Omos has made a significant impact in Japan over the past month, marking his debut in Pro Wrestling NOAH at their New Year 2025 event on January 1. The 7’4″ giant teamed up with Jack Morris to challenge for the GHC Tag Team Championship, facing the reigning champions Naomichi Marufuji and Takashi Sugiura.

In a surprising turn of events, Omos and Morris emerged victorious, capturing the GHC Tag Team Titles in Omos’ first match with the promotion This victory marked Omos’ first championship win outside of WWE and his first title since losing the RAW Tag Team Championship in 2021.

His appearance in NOAH is part of WWE’s ongoing collaboration with the Japanese promotion. Omos is set to remain active in Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH until at least January 19, 2025.

Omos Opens Up On Wrestling In Japan, Culture Shock & Food

WWE Superstar and GHC Tag Team Champion Omos is enjoying his time in Japan and recently opened up about his experience overseas. This week, the Nigerian Giant was stopped for an impromptu interview in which he gave insight into his time abroad.

Favorite Thing: Omos appreciates how people in Japan have been “super nice” to him since he arrived in the country.

Dealing With Food: It took Omos some time to handle the Japanese cuisine given that this is his first time in the country. Omos is now “beginning to figure it out” and now loves yakiniku. The term refers to bite-size pieces of meat and vegetables that are grilled.

Culture Shock: The biggest shock for Omos has been that there are a lot of social rules in Japan compared to his time in the U.S. Adapting to Japan’s gyms, which feature both indoor and outdoor facilities, has also proven to be different for the seven-foot wrestler.

Highlight Of The Trip: Unsurprisingly, the highlight of Omos’ time has been wrestling at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. At Wrestle Kingdom 19, Omos captured the GHC Tag Titles with Jack Morris, making him the first-ever active WWE talent to hold gold in Pro Wrestling NOAH. Omos also hyped up his upcoming matches as part of the Japanese promotion.

Omos’ time with NOAH demonstrates the current management of WWE being far more open to working with other promotions. It remains to be seen when we’ll next see Omos in a WWE ring, but the GHC Tag Team Champion is certainly making waves in Japan.

Omos Set For More NOAH Shows As WWE Hiatus Enters 9th Month

Fans can expect to see much more of Omos in Pro Wrestling NOAH, following his victory at New Year 2025. At the January 1, event, Omos won the GHC Tag Titles with Jack Morris, making the Nigerian Giant the first active WWE Superstar to win NOAH gold.

Find Out More About Omos’ Historic Championship Win

Yesterday, January 2, Omos was in action once again as he, Morris, and Yu Owada defeated El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Galeno Del Mal & Saxon Huxley. Now, NOAH has confirmed that Omos will be in action at least three more times in January 2025.

This schedule is certainly different than what fans have seen of Omos in WWE, or rather, what they’ve not seen. The former Raw Tag Team Champion has not been used on TV since April 2024, when he competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Omos’ most recent singles match on TV saw him earn a squash win in May 2023.

The Undertaker Shares Praise & Bold Vision For Omos In WWE

Omos has his supporters in WWE, but there’s no word on any plans for his return to the largest wrestling promotion on the planet. In the meantime, the GHC Tag Team Champion will continue to represent WWE in NOAH, where he’s quickly become a featured attraction.

Jack Morris & WWE’s Omos Win GHC Tag Titles At NOAH New Year 2025

WWE Superstar Omos has kicked 2025 off to a strong start by becoming one-half of the GHC Tag Team Champions. At Pro Wrestling NOAH’s New Year 2025 event, Omos teamed with Jack Morris to end the reign of Naomichi Marufuji and Takashi Sugiura. The new champions were joined by former WWE Superstar Yoshi Tatsu.

This match marked Omos’ in-ring debut for NOAH, who last competed in WWE during the April 5, 2024, edition of SmackDown as part of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal.

After the match, Morris and Omos celebrated their win, with the duo declaring that they would hold the titles forever.

Omos’ involvement with NOAH is the latest example of WWE being willing to work with other promotions. In 2024 alone, WWE partnered with NOAH, Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport, Marigold, and TNA Wrestling. However, Omos is the first WWE Superstar to win a non-WWE championship since the Sports Entertainment juggernaut began working with other promotions.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Omos, now that the Nigerian Giant has the GHC Tag Team Championships in his colossal clutches.

Omos Set For Pro Wrestling NOAH Debut Amid WWE Hiatus

Omos might be heading to Japan.

Pro Wrestling Noah is set to present The New Year 2025 special from Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan on January 1. One of the matches on the card is Naomichi Marufuji and Takashi Sugiura defending the GHC World Tag Team Championships.

Jack Morris has been confirmed as one of the challengers for the tag titles but his partner has been kept a mystery. Morris has promised that he’d bring ‘the biggest X in history’ to challenge the current champions.

This surprise was apparently spoiled by the promotion as Omos when they accidentally added the current WWE star to their official roster page early:

Update: NOAH has since official confirmed Omos’s debut for the New Year special:

WWE US Champion Shinsuke Nakamura will also be appearing on the show, competing against 35-year-old Ulka Sasaki in a singles match.

Omos was regularly featured on WWE TV under the Vince McMahon administration after signing with the company in 2019 and making his main roster debut in mid-2020.

He has mostly been kept off TV since 2023 after Triple H took over creative, however. His only 2 televised matches this year have been battle royal appearances in Royal Rumble and Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

The unexplained absence has resulted in all kind of rumors about Omos’ WWE status but hopefully, the NOAH appearance will pave the way for his return to the Endeavor-owned promotion.

WWE Star Wants To Work With Bron Breaker – When He’s More Established

WWE star Omos has reckoned that the WWE Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker needs to be built strongly like former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, before facing him in a match. Omos, the 7’3 powerhouse had battled Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39. Though he suffered a defeat, Omos posed a massive challenge for ‘The Beast Incarnate.’

During a recent Q&A episode on Undertaker’s Patreon, the gigantic wrestler said that he believes he could lock horns with Bron Breakker but he wants him to build more equity to make the clash exciting. Omos explained:

“My personal opinion, and maybe you can agree or disagree with me, I think [he might need] some more building him to that point, because I just remember wrestling Brock last year. I think people are going to expect that, but I think Brock had so much equity that he made sense and I think before you put him with me, you want to give him a lot more equity first.

So that way he’s people feel like he’s on top of the world like he’s gone through everybody, he’s become the unstoppable machine that he is, and they say, ‘What are you going to do with a giant?’ That makes for an even better story overall.”

Omos’ last appearance before hiatus took place at the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Meanwhile, Bron Breakker has been going strong on the main roster and became a two-time Intercontinental Champion and has defeated the likes of Sami Zayn and Jey Uso to remain a champion. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker shared his thoughts on Omos.

The Undertaker Shares Bold Vision for Omos’ WWE Future Despite Absence

The Undertaker Shares Bold Vision for Omos’ WWE Future Despite Absence

WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker isn’t giving up on Omos despite the former Raw Tag Team Champion’s ongoing absence from WWE programming. During a recent Patreon Q&A, the Phenom said he was “optimistic” about Omos’ future in WWE, and WWE “using him judiciously” has left him “excited.”

“At some point, I believe he becomes like the guardian of the castle, basically like I used to be. Anybody, any giant monster, anybody that ever came down the pike, I always got them.”

Later on, The Undertaker reiterated his belief that Omos will play a key role in WWE storylines going forward, and is hoping to see talent who can go toe-to-toe with the seven-footer.

“He will be the one that decides who comes and who goes in a storytelling aspect. I just hope that we get some guys coming down the road that actually can pose a physical threat to you.”

The Undertaker certainly has high hopes for the Nigerian Giant, who he has previously compared to Andre the Giant, but Omos’ role, or lack thereof, over the past year has sparked doubts over his future.

Despite once being pushed heavily, including a title win in his first main roster match, Omos hasn’t competed since the Andre the Giant Battle Royal in April. His last singles match on TV came at Backlash 2023 against Seth Rollins, while his most recent win televised win was a squash match on the May 1, 2023, edition of Raw.

Ironically, Omos was not eligible in the 2023 WWE Draft, with the explanation that WWE wanted to keep the Giant as a spectacle across Raw and SmackDown. With his manager MVP now a part of AEW, questions remain as to what Omos’ future will look like, but having the endorsement of a WWE icon can’t hurt the 30-year-old Superstar.

Nikki Garcia, Rey Mysterio & Omos Featured In Netflix Hot Dog Special

History was made in the Netflix Hot Dog special and Nikki Garcia, Rey Mysterio and Omos had a front row seat to witness the gluttony.

Famed competitive eaters Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut took part in a live Labor Day special on Netflix where the two went head-to-head in eating hot dogs and one man broke the record. Chestnut came out the victor eating an unprecedented 83 hot dogs in 10 minutes to defeat his longstanding rival who could only down 67 dogs, and there were two WWE Hall of Famers on hand in Bella and Mysterio to be apart of the prestigious face-stuffing.

Along with comedian Rob Riggle, Garcia was the host to the event while Rey Mysterio presented Chestnut with the championship title after out-eating Kobayashi. Chestnut got his own WWE gold courtesy of Mysterio, who was the presenter for Chestnut while Omos was “Team Kobayashi.”

The event had to have felt like a breath of fresh air for Garcia after the unfortunate week she had as her husband Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on a felony corporal injury charge Thursday. Chigvintsev was released on $25,000 bail and through her representative, Garcia requested privacy after the incident. Garcia was noted to not be wearing her wedding ring during the Netflix special as she was photographed boarding a private jet with her son Matteo over the weekend.

Chigvintsev called 911 following the domestic dispute along with claiming that Garcia threw shoes at him. Police noticed injuries to Garcia and then took Chigvintsev into custody.

Wrestling World Reacts To John Cena Announcing 2025 In-Ring Retirement

The wrestling world has reacted to John Cena’s announcement that his final match will come at WWE WrestleMania 41 in April of next year.

At WWE Money in the Bank 2024, Cena surprised the fans in Toronto with an unannounced appearance at the event. The 16-time WWE World Champion spoke openly about his career before sharing the news that he plans to retire from in-ring competition next year. The topic of Cena’s retirement has been broached several times in recent years, as John has been well aware that his days in the ring have been numbered for some time.

Reaction To John Cena’s Announcement

Cena’s announcement understandably had the wrestling world abuzz with many taking to social media to share their reactions. On Twitter, Baron Corbin made his claim to face Cena in what will be John’s final match.

Corbin isn’t the only Superstar with their eyes on John Cena. Former Raw Tag Team Champion Omos also wants a piece of Big Match John.

‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor reacted to Cena’s retirement by using the same verbiage that John used to announce the death of Osama Bin Laden after WWE Extreme Rules 2011.

WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, who spoke highly of John after Money in the Bank, shared a video of the pair backstage following Cena’s announcement.

Cena’s announcement has surpassed the realm of professional wrestling. On Twitter, the Orlando Magic wished John a happy retirement.

The MLB also praised Cena and thanked John alongside an image of the 16-time World Champion throwing a pitch.

Bronson Reed Wins 10th Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal On 4/5 WWE SmackDown

WrestleMania 40 is a loaded show, so they held the annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the go-home SmackDown episode.

The 10th annual Andre the Giant Battle Royal was the first match on this week’s episode of SmackDown. The Wells Fargo Center was pumped to get things going. In the end, Bronson Reed won the big match to kick off WrestleMania weekend the right way from the big man from Australia.

Bronson Reed, Omos and Ricochet received special entrances, while all the other Superstars were in the ring already. Omos made his way to the ring last, and he had MVP with him.

Andrade, Ricochet, Chad Gable, Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura, Omos, Brutus Creed, Julius Creed, Ivar, Akira Tozawa, Otis, JD McDonagh, Apollo Crews, Veer, Sanga, Cameron Grimes, Kit Wilson, Elton Prince, Ashante Adonis, and Cedric Alexander were some of the participants in the match.

In the end, Bronson Reed and Ivar were the two final contestants. The two battled as fans chanted “meat.” Ivar missed a moonsault from the top rope, and then Reed nailed a rolling senton before clotheslining him over the top rope to secure the win.

Previous Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Winners

Bronson Reed’s name now joins a list of former winners, some of them are future WWE Hall of Famers.

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner list includes a few notable names. Sadly, the big win doesn’t always translate into a massive push. Past winners include: Cesaro, Big Show, Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, Matt Hardy, Braun Strowman, Jey Uso, Madcap Moss, and Bobby Lashley.

Stealthy Dominance: Omos’ Quiet WWE Streak Goes Unnoticed

WWE only has so much time on television, so they can’t fit every Superstar on the screen each week. Someone like Omos takes up a lot of real estate on camera, but he hasn’t been seen in a while.

Omos is still working WWE house shows. As a special attraction, he is doing his thing. He also racked up an impressive state in the process, as the big man from Nigeria now has 25 wins over Akira Tozawa in a row.

Omos’ Impressive Stat

Omos has not graced WWE television screens since his return at SummerSlam following a hiatus post-WrestleMania. Despite occasional appearances at live events, Omos’s television presence remains notably absent.

While speaking to SEScoops, Omos admitted that he is a special attraction, and he shows up when there is money to be made. He’s done some work in recent memory, but it’s been under the radar unless you’ve been at WWE live events.

During a WWE house show on Saturday, Omos continued to showcase his dominance by securing his 25th consecutive victory over Akira Tozawa, a streak dating back to last July. With a 15-1 record in 2024, Omos maintains an impressive track record following his notable 33-4 performance the previous year.

WWE’s Plan For Omos

As a special attraction, there are no concrete creative plans for Omos yet. While he occasionally competes in live events, Omos’s absence from TV programming persists.

I exclusively reported that WWE is holding Omos for the right time. I asked about Omos’ current creative status, and was told that WWE is “holding Omos for the right program for either him or an opponent who could use a big win.”

SEScoops will have more on this story, and so much more in the pro wrestling business. Please keep checking back for even more updates.

Omos In Holding Pattern: Creative Plans For WWE’s Nigerian Giant

WWE has a lot of Superstars on their roster who are champing at the bit for their opportunity to shine. Omos is a bit different, because he knows his value and understands how the company is using him. As a special attraction, WWE just needs to figure out a situation where he fits best.

Omos’ Current WWE Status (Exclusive)

Omos recently spoke to SEScoops‘ Scott Fishman, where he admitted to his special attraction status. It seems that he is embracing it at this point, as he said that they will book him when the money is there.

I asked about Omos’ current creative status, and was told that WWE is “holding Omos for the right program for either him or an opponent who could use a big win.”

At this time, Omos is doing community events for the company, interviews, and other things. He also makes house show appearances, with his latest being on February 18, 2024 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, USA, where he beat Akira Tozawa during a WWE Road To WrestleMania event.

Who is Omos

Omos has a background in college basketball, and WWE was quick to sign him to a deal once they met him. He played basketball at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland after transferring from USF

As the tallest wrestler on WWE’s active roster, he stands out for his imposing stature. Now managed by MVP, they are categorized as “free agents,” granting them the flexibility to appear on both the Raw and SmackDown brands. As of this writing, fans are still waiting to see the 31-year-old Nigerian giant re-appear on television for either side.

SE Scoops will have more on this story if there are any further developments.

WWE Star Omos Addresses Special Attraction Status, Says WrestleMania Changed His Life (Exclusive)

WWE has different uses for Superstars on their roster. Although Omos hasn’t been seen a lot, he is still around, and he understands his status as a special attraction. With WrestleMania 40 coming up, he also knows that this is a season where magic things can happen.

WrestleMania is Special for Omos

Omos appeared during Royal Rumble press events with a Rumble jersey from the Tampa Bay Rays. Although he didn’t appear in the Rumble match, he was happy to be around the atmosphere.

While speaking to SEScoops‘ Scott Fishman, Omos mentioned the show of shows, and how much it means to him.

“To be honest, WrestleMania literally changed my life. I made my debut at WrestleMania. You know, with AJ Styles and the tag team titles, I will never forget it for the rest of my life, like that is in my brain. Although I didn’t know I would be booked, the next year against Bobby Lashley in Dallas was tremendous, just me on my own, which I think was my 3rd year in the business to then do it with Brock, that was just every year it just keeps going higher and higher. To me, WrestleMania holds a special place in my heart.”

Omos Addresses WWE Absence

Omos was also asked about his absence from WWE television. He did not provide any clue that he is coming back soon, but the Nigerian did admit that he is a special attraction that requires a payday.

“You know, I’m an attraction, they call me when they need to make the big bucks, that’s when they call me when they need me.”

Omos went on to say, “When they wanna see me on TV, man, cash those checks when you see me on TV.”

WWE hasn’t made a lot of use of Omos in recent memory, but he has been paired up with MVP at recent live events. As of this writing, that pairing has yet to make their real debut on WWE television, but you never know what can happen on the road to WrestleMania 40.

Tyler Bate Wants To Airplane Spin Omos At WWE Royal Rumble

WWE superstar Tyler Bate is looking for his big moment at the WWE Royal Rumble this Saturday. Since joining the main roster, Bate has looked impressive, showcasing his strength and technical in-ring ability. However, he plans to have his most ambitious showing on the main roster at the expense of ‘The Nigerian Giant.’

Bate spoke recently with TNT Sports’ Chamatkar Sandhu about being on the WWE Friday Night Smackdown brand and his year-long goals. The former WWE NXT United Kingdom Champion said he wants to win the tag team championships with Pete Dunne and potentially end the Judgement Day’s(Damian Priest & Finn Balor) title reign. He also admitted wanting to showcase his strength in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble Match against Omos.

“…We also have the Royal Rumble coming soon, and for the past seven years, I’ve been a part of the WWE, I’ve been saying that I want to get into the Royal Rumble and I want to Airplane Spin the biggest guy in the middle of the ring. So Omos, if you are listening,” said Bate. He added, “…I’ve been saying it and it’s going to happen. It’s going to happen at some point.”

Although Bate wants to compete in this year’s match, WWE has yet to announce if he will be an entrant in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble Match.

Tyler Bate’s Status In The The Men’s Royal Rumble Match

Currently, WWE has only advertised seven participants in the men’s match, including CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. For the past few years, the company has shared most of who would be involved in the match before the event. It’s unclear if that has changed, and fans will have to wait to see who makes an appearance.

While there is uncertainty, it’s possible Bate could be one of the other competitors involved in the 2024 Mens Royal Rumble Match. He has been featured since jumping to the main roster, and the company would seemingly want to showcase the former WWE NXT United Kingdom Champion.

For now, fans will have to wait for a full reveal of who will have a chance to main event WWE WrestleMania 40 in April.

Omos Unveils the Shift in His Training Journey from Basketball to Pro Wrestling

WWE Superstar Omos recently talked about the changes to his workout regime which he has implemented over the years.

Standing 7 feet and 3 inches tall, and weighing 416 pounds, Omos remains to be one of the giants in the company. For those who are unaware, he played college basketball, before signing with WWE in January 2019. He is a former RAW Tag Team Champion with AJ Styles and has competed in three WrestleMania events. Well, he has improved over the years and continues to maintain a good shape.

Omos outlines how his pro wrestling workout regime is different from Basketball days

‘The Nigerian Giant’ recently joined in for a conversation with Men’s Health magazine and said that he kept his weight at around 315 pounds for college basketball. However, he reached over 400 pounds while continuing his pro wrestling career. In addition to this, he revealed trains his whole body with dedicated weekly workouts.

The 29-year-old said that there are particular training difficulties “as a giant,” entailing more concentrated mobility work and the replacement of barbell exercises with machine workouts. To appear his best in the ring, the Nigerian Giant is also committed to expanding the size of his thighs.

Omos claimed that he started working out at the age of 14, concentrating on developing his quickness and agility for basketball. Omos has added more power-building exercises to his wrestling routines, but he still incorporates some of those ideas. He disclosed that his main workout objective was to look nice in the ring.

“In basketball, I always had to cut weight, and for what I do know, I also have to look jacked and look good for what I need to do in the ring,” he said.

Omos last competed at SummerSlam 2023, where he participated in the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal, which was won by LA Knight.

WWE has made history in Madison Square Garden many times in the past. They ran the famous venue on December 26th, and their trend of historic moments continued. The event was already set to be memorable for many reasons, but they also broke a financial record.

“He Has to Start Giving Back” – WWE Legend Justifies Brock Lesnar vs Omos at WrestleMania

Some fans may be wondering why WWE has Brock Lesnar wrestling Omos at WrestleMania, but Lesnar’s former rival Kurt Angle knows exactly why the match has been made.

Lesnar has been one of the top WWE performers for two decades. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ has been featured in several blockbuster matches in the recent years. Lesnar had won the WWE Championship again in 2022 and lost the title in a Winner Takes All Match against Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38.

Following a rematch at SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar later entered a feud with Bobby Lashley, which continued till 2023. After a disqualification loss to Lashley at Elimination Chamber, Lesnar shifted towards a new challenge. He went on to accept up and coming WWE star Omos’ challenge to a match at WrestleMania 39 which is just a few weeks away.

Kurt Angle opens up on the idea of Brock Lesnar vs Omos

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic Gold Medalist shared his thoughts on the match and. ‘The Olympic Gold Medalist’ has stated that it’s time for Lesnar to start helping the company build other talent. He wants ‘The Beast’ to put over Omos at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All.’

“I think it’s a great idea,” Angle said. “You have to remember, Brock is near the end of his career, and Omos is near the beginning of his career. Brock’s always been these main event matches with all the top guys. I think now he’s at the point of his career where he has to start giving back and not being at the top level matches for world championships, but trying to build other talent. I think this is a great idea.”

Lesnar and Omos are set to face off on tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW. Omos will certainly reach a massive milestone in his career if he’s able to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39.

MVP Teases New Faction Backstage at WWE Monday Night Raw in Boston

MVP has been working for some time to try and reunite the Hurt Business, but the veteran Superstar could soon be introducing a new faction.

Upon his return to WWE in 2020, it wasn’t long until MVP rallied his own group of Superstars, including Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin.

MVP would manage every member of the group to championship gold, with the Hurt Business having won the WWE Championship, United States Championship, Raw Tag Team Titles, and 24/7 Championship.

New Faction

While MVP has been able to win over Alexander and Benjamin with a Hurt Business reunion, Lashley has proven to be unresponsive, given that MVP betrayed him on the Raw after WrestleMania 38.

Taking to Instagram this week, MVP teased that he has been speaking business with some names backstage, including his current client Omos, and the Street Profits, and NXT’s Carmelo Hayes.

Called Up?

Of all the names in the photo above, perhaps the most interesting is Hayes, who is yet to be called up to WWE’s main roster.

That’s not for lack of trying, as Hayes has in the past suggested that his time with NXT is coming to an end, and he is said to be well-liked by WWE management.

Hayes was at RAW last night for a match against Akira Tozawa during the pre-Raw WWE Main Event tapings.

During this week’s WWE NXT, it was confirmed that Hayes will challenge NXT Champion Bron Breakker at the Stand and Deliver event on April 1.

Brock Lesnar Nixed Idea for Huge WrestleMania 39 Match – Vince McMahon Involved?

Brock Lesnar will face Omos at WrestleMania 39 next month, but this isn’t the match WWE originally had in mind.

Last week, Omos laid out the challenge to the Beast Incarnate, who most recently competed against Bobby Lashley at WWE Elimination Chamber.

On this week’s Raw, Lesnar accepted the challenge and laid out MVP, Omos’ manager, in a message to the Nigerian giant.

Nixed Match

Fans have been surprised by WWE’s decision to go ahead with this match, which was not even being hinted at just a few weeks ago.

Prior to WWE Elimination Chamber, Bray Wyatt stated that he would face the winner of Lesnar Vs. Lashley at WrestleMania 39.

Fightful Select has learned that a match between Lesnar and Wyatt was pitched for the April two-night event, but Brock turned the idea down.

No specific details were given as to why the former Universal Champion refused the match with Wyatt.

It was confirmed to Fightful that Brock Lesnar personally approved the Omos match.

Other Options

In December 2022, it was reported that GUNTHER was being lined-up as Lesnar’s WrestleMania 39 opponent, and the two did have an altercation in the Men’s Rumble match.

Fightful adds that while GUNTHER was also pitched for Lesnar, this match was nixed and that the match had already been scrapped when news in December came out.

At the time that the GUNTHER-Lesnar match was a possibility, there was no mention whatsoever of the Intercontinental Championship being a factor in the match.

Bobby Lashley was also pitched as an opponent for Lesnar at WrestleMania, though the All Mighty will seemingly be facing Wyatt instead.

Vince McMahon

In a tweet, Wrestle Votes implied that Vince McMahon personally had a hand in making the Lesnar-Omos match a reality.

Fightful hasn’t confirmed that internally, but sources close to Lesnar had indicated that “could be true.”

While sources in WWE have stated that McMahon has no official capacity with the creative department, one anonymous talent has stated that they believe the Executive Chairman has more of an influence on creative than publicly believed.

Watch: WWE Star Meets Family After 14 Years Away

WWE Superstar Omos recently enjoyed a family reunion over close to a decade-and-a-half away from his loved ones.

The Nigerian Giant signed with WWE in 2019 and was called up to the main roster in 2020 as the henchman of AJ Styles.

A former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion, Omos’ most recent match saw him lose to Braun Strowman at last week’s Crown Jewel event.

Reunion

As a WWE Superstar (and previously a college Basketball star) Omos has spent much of his life in the United States and away from his native Nigeria.

This week, Omos traveled back home and was able to reunite with his family in person for the first time in 14 years.

TMZ was able to catch the emotional reunion and it is reported that Omos’ family had no idea he was going to be there.

It is also reported that Omos will be making an announcement in Nigeria at some point soon, believed to be related to WWE’s upcoming talent scouting in Africa.

Omos said earlier this year that he is confident WWE could fill a 100,000-seat arena if they held a Premium Live Event in Africa.

The Future for Omos

Omos came up short against Braun Strowman at WWE Crown Jewel 2022, but the future looks bright for the Nigerian Giant.

It was recently reported that WWE’s higher-ups were pleased with the match in Riyadh, especially Omos’ performance.

The feeling backstage is that the former Raw Tag Team Champion is improving quickly the more time he spends in the ring.

Omos has had 106 matches in WWE so far (including his run at NXT Live events) and boasts a 70-36 win-loss record.

MVP Thinks It’s “Foolish” to Compare Omos to The Great Khali

Omos is a far different kind of WWE Superstar to The Great Khali, at least according to his manager MVP.

At over seven-foot-three and weighing over 400lbs, it’s hardly surprising that fans have compared Omos to Khali, who was also seven-foot-three and tipped the scales at 420lbs.

Fans have often been critical of Khali’s wrestling ability, and on Twitter, MVP made the clear distinction between Omos, Khali and Giant Gonzalez, who was also limited in the ring due to his size.

Omos So Far

In January 2019, Omos was signed to a contract and was part of a class of seven athletes to train at the Performance Center.

The former basketball player made his NXT debut at a July 2019 Live event, and would debut on the main roster in June 2020.

Aligning with AJ Styles in October that same year, the two would capture the Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 37, in Omos’ first televised match and his seventh match ever.

After losing to Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 38, Omos would enlist the services of MVP, who manages him to this day.

What’s next for Omos?

Despite a loss to Braun Strowman at WWE Crown Jewel, the future looks very bright for Omos.

At last year’s Survivor Series, the Nigerian Giant won The Rock 25th Anniversary Battle Royal, a celebration of the silver anniversary of the Brahma Bull’s WWE debut.

WWE higher-ups are said to be pleased with the improvements Omos has made since coming to the main roster, and it is believed that he is getting better the more matches he has.

How WWE Felt about Omos’ Crown Jewel Performance

Omos battled Braun Strowman yesterday at WWE Crown Jewel. The premium live event took place in Mrsool Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Omos is typically accompanied to the ring by MVP but he was not allowed to be at the event. Braun Strowman hit MVP with several Running Powerslams on this past Friday’s edition of SmackDown as a way to write MVP off of the premium live event in Saudi Arabia.

Omos dominated the majority of the match and towered over Braun Strowman. However, the Monster of All Monsters battled back as the crowd got behind him. Strowman showed off his incredible strength and somehow was able to lift the Nigerian Giant up for a Powerslam to pick up the pinfall victory.

WWE Pleased with Omos’ Progression

Omos has had an interesting career in WWE thus far. He was the bouncer during the RAW Underground segments and has now established himself as a force on the main roster.

According to Mike Johnson of PW Insider, WWE management was “really happy” with the Crown Jewel premium live event. Several sources within the company praised Omos for his work against Braun Strowman at the premium live event and are happy with the progress he has been making as of late.

Omos’ manager MVP took to Twitter earlier today and scolded fans for comparing Omos to Giant Gonzalez and The Great Khali. MVP suggested fans that made those comparisons step on a LEGO while barefoot.

The Nigerian Giant’s opponent at Crown Jewel, WWE Superstar Braun Strowman, recently sent out a tweet that annoyed many of today’s wrestlers. You can check out the tweet and their reaction in the link below.

Jim Cornette Claims Match at WWE Crown Jewel is Going to be “Rotten”

Omos and Braun Strowman are set to battle this Saturday night at WWE Crown Jewel.

Braun recently returned to the company and was confronted by the Nigerian Giant on a recent episode of SmackDown.

Strowman and Omos stood face-to-face and it was revealed that Braun is several inches shorter. WWE advertised the match on social media as “two giants” and MVP claimed that it was false advertising because Strowman is significantly shorter.

Jim Cornette Previews Omos vs. Braun Strowman at WWE Crown Jewel

Legendary wrestling manager and promoter Jim Cornette discussed the upcoming bout between Strowman and Omos on episode 455 of The Jim Cornette Experience.

Jim suggested that they keep the match short because it will likely be rotten. The 61-year-old added that Saudi Arabia is a good place to have this match because domestic fans would ridicule it.

Saudi Arabia is probably the best place, no pun, no joke, and no sh**.

If you go back through wrestling history, a big show in a foreign, and I’m talking foreign to the United States, if you are in Saudi Arabia right now I’m sorry.

But a big show in a foreign market, two giants, the people are just thrilled to see live wrestling and thrilled to see the stars in person.

They get two giants and it looks great on a poster, or whatever. It’s going to be hopefully short, and not necessarily sweet.

They’ll be there for a good time but not for a long time.

A domestic audience would sh** all over this because they see wrestling on a regular basis and it’s going to be rotten.

Because how can it not be?

Backstage News On Kevin Owens And Others Being Absent From WWE Programming

Several notable names have been missing from WWE’s premier shows the last few weeks. This list includes stars such as Kevin Owens. The former Universal champion is considered a ‘Triple H guy.’ People expected him to be featured more prominently on WWE programming after the game took over the creative duties in the company.

However, Owens was not only absent from this Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, but he hasn’t been seen all that much in the past few weeks since the Money In The Bank PPV. Fightful Select provided some update on the situation. They claimed that they haven’t heard anything about an injury that would keep KO out of action. Instead, they’re told that creative plans are being ‘cooked up’ for him moving forward.

Another notable name missing from the shows is Lacey Evans. She was scheduled to face Aliyah in a match during the July 29 episode of SmackDown but the bout was cancelled. It was said on air that Evans wasn’t cleared to compete but there are no immediate creative plans for her. Her name wasn’t discussed for the women’s gauntlet match on SmackDown this week.

Lacey Evans was a personal favorite of Vince McMahon. The boss was very hands-on and worked directly with the female star after her return to Raw earlier this year. However, there were no solid plans for her in place, and her WWE return after pregnancy in April was described as ‘chaotic and directionless.’

Finally, Omos hasn’t been featured much on Raw the last several weeks. Though the Nigerian Giant has still been on the road, being managed by MVP. The Monstrous athlete faced Ezekiel on the Main Event tapings on Monday. There is no word on when he may return to Raw or SmackDown.

The report says that several talents are in the same boat and waiting to learn their direction under the new management. Some have had meetings directly with Triple H about it, but the details of them are unavailable.
