The Lucha Bros Won’t Be In WWE Any Time Soon

Wrestling fans excited to see The Lucha Bros. crossover to the WWE Universe will have to wait a while before that comes to fruition. Recent reports that Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix had signed multi-year contracts with WWE, and merchandise was already being created, were false — they both remain under contract with AEW.

Due to Rey Fenix missing ring time due to various injuries in recent years, Dave Meltzer reports that Tony Khan is tacking on nearly a year to Fenix’s existing contract to make up the lost time.

As for his older brother Penta, his contract still has a few months remaining before it expires. Negotiations with WWE haven’t taken place yet, but Penta intends to explore that option once he’s able to.

WWE has reportedly sent overtures to Penta that they’ll make competitive offer, solidifying his decision to leave AEW. Penta has expressed that his primary goal is to provide for his family as he moves into the later stages of his career. Meltzer also noted that Penta’s departure is driven by several factors, including growing frustration with AEW.

Both Fenix and Penta have recently trademarked three different properties, fueling further speculation about their AEW futures.

While Penta has remained quiet about his contract status, he has stated that he is currently enjoying his time with All Elite Wrestling. However, back in August, Fenix withdrew from an independent wrestling appearance, leading many to believe that he may be WWE-bound.

Penta El Zero M & Rey Fenix Trademark Names As AEW Contracts Wind Down

Penta El Zero M & Rey Fenix may be covering their bases as their current AEW deals are set to expire.

At the very least, The Lucha Brothers are protecting their creative properties as they move forward in their wrestling career as both Fenix and Penta have put in for three different trademarks apiece.

On August 1, Penta filed for the names of “Cero Miedo,” “Zero Miedo,” and “AN1MO” are for the meaning of entertainment purposes. Meanwhile, his younger brother Rey put in for “King Fuego,” “Rey Fuego,” and “Fuego” all on the same date for the same reason.

Penta confirmed that his AEW contract would run out this year and that WWE has expressed interest in his talents. The thought is that Fenix is in a similar situation contractually and that the brother tag team could test the free agent market.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported back in June that Penta El Zero M is open to leaving AEW if the price tag fits because at the age of 39, the luchador has a lot of people relying on him.

Both Fenix and Penta have been with All Elite Wrestling since the very beginning and it would be a very significant shift in the two companies if the brothers were to bounce from AEW to WWE. If they were to do that, Penta and Fenix would join a notable list of names to do the same including Cody Rhodes, Jade Cargill, Ethan Page and Shawn Spears.

Latest On Penta El Zero Miedo As Contract With AEW Ticks Away

More has come to light regarding Penta El Zero Miedo as his current deal with All Elite Wrestling continues to tick away.

It was recently reported that Penta’s contract with AEW will expire between August and September of this year. Penta joined the All-Elite promotion in February 2019. He is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion with Rey Fenix and the pair are also former AEW World Trios Champions alongside Pac.

Latest On Penta El Zerio Miedo In AEW

Penta is open to leaving AEW and going where the best financial offer is, Dave Meltzer reports. It’s noted that Penta believes that his next contract will be “probably his last big money deal” as the masked wrestler is currently 39 years old. Penta is also said to have “a lot of people counting on him” which has left the talented wrestler with a very difficult decision to make.

Penta On WWE Interest

Should Penta leave AEW for a better financial offer, it’s likely that nowhere else would offer him more than WWE. Speaking on COMIENDO CARNITAS, Penta was coy when asked about whether WWE has its eyes on him.

“I prefer to focus on my present and my present is currently with AEW. If any company like WWE wanted to offer me something, I would need to evaluate because there is a lot of interests on the way.”

Ultimately, Penta El Zero Miedo will do what he feels is best for himself and those who rely on him. Time will tell whether we one day call him a WWE Superstar, but for now, the masked star is focused on his work with AEW.

Penta El Zero Miedo Addresses AEW Status & WWE Interest

Penta El Zero Miedo has an AEW contract reported expire this summer, but would The Lucha Brother go to WWE?

Lucha Libre Online reported this month that Penta’s current AEW deal is done sometime in August or September and that WWE is interested in scooping the luchador up.

Penta was a guest on COMIENDO CARNITAS, and addressed the matter, stating that the WWE interest was only a rumor. Miedo confirmed that his contract did indeed end in August or September (noting his agent had to remind him). Penta makes clear that AEW is currently where his alliegance stands and prefers to focus on the present.

“There isn’t anything tangible. If there was to be anything tangible, we would need to evaluate it, check what is more convenient both financially and in-ring. Someone told me that it was like playing for Barcelona while you should play for Real Madrid. I can see that perspective, but I am not that young and it would be my last big contract.”

Penta makes clear he has no problems with either company and was asked if he’d be interested in going to WWE.

“It would be a good episode in my career, but I do not like to fantasy book. If it happens, it happens. I am focused on AEW and I am happy where I am at right now. Of course there is some complaints like more focus on the projection and rivalries, like it happens with every wrestler and company.”

Penta signed with AEW back in 2019 wrestled on AEW television earlier this month against The Butcher, but hasn’t been in a prominent television storyline in quite some time.

While the series may be over, the legacy of Lucha Underground happens to live on through Major League Wrestling. It was years ago when MLW introduced Cesar Duran to the company as they made an indication that Duran was Dario Cueto (the owner of Lucha Underground) going under a new alias.

MLW has also reintroduced other players from the program including Mil Muertes and Jeff Cobb, but they also have put their own spin on the show. In less than two weeks, MLW will host AZTECA Lucha, their own solitary event featuring many lucha libre talent competing against one another. AZTECA Lucha is actually MLW highest-selling gate event in league history as they sold out Cicero Stadium in Chicago.

Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks defeated Death Triangle on September 4th at the now infamous All Out PPV. However, the EVPs were suspended, along with former AEW World Champion CM Punk, for a brawl that happened during the media scrum. Penta El Zero M made the rounds on social media recently when he superkicked Tay Conti at AAA’s TripleMania: Monterrey event on April 30 in Monterrey, Mexico.

After the main event which saw the Young Bucks defeating Hijo del Vikingo & Fenix, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti ran down to the ring to join the Young Bucks. Penta came out to clear the ring and hit a superkick on Conti. Penta’s unconcerned attitude went viral on pro wrestling Twitter. You can check out the video below:

Penta El Zero M Talks What Defeating Young Bucks At All Out Would Mean

Penta El Zero M and Fenix are going to All Out in search of some gold.

The Lucha Bros have earned the right to take on The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. The Lucha Bros defeated Varsity Blondes and then Jurassic Express to seal their spots on the All Out PPV.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Penta El Zero M discussed what defeating Matt and Nick Jackson would mean for him and Fenix.

“Matt and Nick Jackson are our greatest rivals, and we have so much history with them in AEW and from the independent world. We are both brothers, and we all have a passion for wrestling, but there is a difference between us and The Young Bucks. It is not for show. Winning titles means everything to us. We will fight to the death for that championship.

“Our biggest motivation is that we are indebted to all our fans. This time, we will show them it is different. This time, we are better prepared. We will show why we’re the best tag team in the universe.”

The Lucha Bros have yet to capture tag team gold in AEW. Back in Oct. 2019, they took on SoCal Uncensored for the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Championships. Penta and Fenix fell short in the match, which aired live on Dynamite.

The title bout between Lucha Bros and The Young Bucks will be inside a steel cage. Time will tell if the stipulation will be able to prevent interference.

Eddie Kingston Rips Into The Young Bucks Before Tag Title Match

AEW star Eddie Kingston recently spoke to Dominic DeAngelo of WrestleZone ahead of this Wednesday’s AEW: Road Rager event where he and Penta El Zero M will be challenging for the AEW Tag Team Championships.

Kingston discussed a number of topics during the interview, as well as making some scathing in kayfabe comments towards the AEW Tag Team Title holders, The Young Bucks.

“They’re the best tag team in the world, the Young Bucks are and that’s proven by being the World Tag Team Champions. That’s it, it proves it” Kingston began, before laying into Matt and Nick Jackson.

Eddie Kingston on The Young Bucks

“Have they done it not in their normal ‘hooray’ way? No, my biggest problem with them is because they’re both children, childs, babies” Kingston added, starting to move into a more kayfabe rant on the duo.

“Not because of what they do in the ring and all that other stuff that people want to bash on them. It’s because ‘being the EVP’ was too hard for them. That kind of annoys me, man” Eddie Kingston continued.

“People look up to them in the locker room and people look at them as the example of them doing it your way, you know what I mean?”

EDDIE KINGSTON on THE YOUNG BUCKS

“And then they’re going to come out here and ‘Oh, it’s too hard so we’re go start burying people’ and ‘oh now we’re just gonna start acting like a**holes and Don Callis, and us and Kenny, we’re the original club, and Bullet…’ and I don’t even know any of that stuff” the former IMPACT star concluded.

Injury Update On Penta El Zero M, Reason Santana Missed Dynamite

Last night on Dynamite, Penta El Zero M was scheduled to team with his brother Fenix and Lance Archer to go up against Eddie Kingston and the Butcher & The Blade. Early into the match, however, he was put through a table by the Butcher and taken to the back. According to a report from BodySlam, this was done because Penta is currently dealing with an injury. Penta reportedly suffered a leg injury while training a couple of weeks ago. The spot was done to explain his absense.

The Lucha Bros recently reunited with PAC as the Death Triangle. They are now in an angle with their former stable of Kingston and the Butcher and the Blade.

Also on Dynamite last night, Santana was absent from the Inner Circle’s ultimatum segment. Chris Jericho explained that he wasn’t there because of all the internal fighting that has been going on in the faction as of late. We’ve noted that Santana is dealing with a personal issue. He has since posted an emotional message on Instagram noting that his step-father recently passed away.

SEScoops sends our deep condolences to Santana and his family.

Wrestling Observer Radio posted early Thursday morning notes that he is expected back at Dynamite next week.
