Lucha Underground was indeed a cult hit when it was on television and the Lucha Brothers want to charge up that nostaglia for fans of the defunct series.
Rey Fenix along with Penta El Zero M are going to but hosting Republic of Lucha 7: Hit The Lights and it will take place at the old Lucha Underground Temple.
Fenix and Penta will join quite the list of names set for the event including Konosuke Takeshita, Brian Cage, John Morrison, Nic Nemeth, Thunder Rosa, Lio Rush, Nick Wayne, Speedball Mike Bailey, Alex Windsor, Dante Martin and more. The event currently doesn’t have an air date but it will take place on Triller TV.
It will be this upcoming October when the show will celebrate its ten-year anniversary since it first aired on El Rey Network and ran four seasons with a total of 127 episodes. The Temple was located in Boyle Heights, CA.
While the series may be over, the legacy of Lucha Underground happens to live on through Major League Wrestling. It was years ago when MLW introduced Cesar Duran to the company as they made an indication that Duran was Dario Cueto (the owner of Lucha Underground) going under a new alias.
MLW has also reintroduced other players from the program including Mil Muertes and Jeff Cobb, but they also have put their own spin on the show. In less than two weeks, MLW will host AZTECA Lucha, their own solitary event featuring many lucha libre talent competing against one another. AZTECA Lucha is actually MLW highest-selling gate event in league history as they sold out Cicero Stadium in Chicago.
Penta El Zero M is looking jacked in a recently posted photo.
One-half of the Lucha brothers alongside his real-life younger brother Rey Fenix, the former AEW World Tag Team Champion took to Twitter to share a picture on his Twitter account showing off his physical appearance.
“Puro zero miedo……#luchabrothers @AEW @luchalibreaaa,” wrote the 37-year-old as the caption to the mirror selfie in a gym. Check out the photo below:
Penta El Zero M made the rounds on social media recently when he superkicked Tay Conti at AAA’s TripleMania: Monterrey event on April 30 in Monterrey, Mexico.
After the main event which saw the Young Bucks defeating Hijo del Vikingo & Fenix, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti ran down to the ring to join the Young Bucks. Penta came out to clear the ring and hit a superkick on Conti. Penta’s unconcerned attitude went viral on pro wrestling Twitter. You can check out the video below:
Earlier, Penta El Zero M debuted his new character, Penta Oscuro on the February 23 edition of AEW Dynamite. The character had first appeared in Lucha Underground, and after weeks of teasing, Penta debuted the darker side of his persona on AEW. Known as Pentagon Dark in Lucha Underground, Penta Oscuro has a more aggressive side and goes after his opponent’s limbs with his arm snap.
AEW did an injury angle with Pentagon Jr during last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite but latest report confirms that it wasn’t the original Pentagon behind the mask at the show.
Last week’s episode of Dynamite saw the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers beating up the former Lucha Underground star in a backstage angle.
Some fans later noted that the man behind the mask wasn’t the real Pentagon because he didn’t have the cero miedo hand tattoos which the real star has.
The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter provides some update on the situation and it confirms that it wasn’t the real Penta El Zero M behind the mask featured during the segment at the show and someone else was wearing his outfit.
According to the Newsletter, the Mexican star is currently sorting out a visa issue and he is expected to be back on AEW TV when it’s taken care of.
There has also been some speculation about the former tag champion being injured but the report confirms that while the high flying star was injured for a while last year, he has recovered from the injury and is no longer hurt.
A return date for Pentagon Jr is not known at the moment but these recent reports suggest that the angle was done to explain his absence from TV during the visa issues and he will not stay away from action for very long.
A big independent wrestling event took place last night in Poughkeepsie, New York. Local promotion NorthEast Wrestling has been making waves in recent months for bringing in top-talent to their shows. Last night’s card was headlined by Jon Moxley returning from his recent G1 performance in Japan taking on Pentagon Jr.
Moxley would pull off the victory in the main event. He would unmask Pentagon in the bout’s closing moments, allowing him to hit Dirty Deeds.
The event was actually held in the very same building where nZo had his final WWE match in. He defeated Brian Pillman Jr in his first match in 572 days last night. nZo sent out the following on Twitter after:
BADA BOOM REALEST FAMILY IN TJE ROOM!!! Y’all were amazing! Thanks for the support, people like you are the reason why I can’t have a bad day! #Gratefulhttps://t.co/pEgkTES6HF
Mexican promotion AAA held their Verano de Escandalo event last night.
During the show, the Lucha Brothers, Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr., would defeat The Young Bucks in tag team action, reclaiming the AAA World Tag Team Championships in the process.
The Young Bucks won the titles from the Lucha Brothers earlier this year. They would successfully defend the belts against Fenix and Pentagon Jr. during All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) recent show, Double Or Nothing.
Working Relationship
AEW, who have a working relationship with AAA (as well as several other promotions worldwide), posted the following to their Twitter account following the victory:
“#AndNEW @luchalibreaaa World Tag Team Champions @PENTAELZEROM and @ReyFenixMx #LuchaBros”
This relationship between the promotions will probably see the two teams continue to feud as AEW continues to grow. They are scheduled to face off in 6-man tag team action at AEW’s next event, Fyter Fest.
— Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (@luchalibreaaa) June 17, 2019
Fyter Fest
At the time of writing, the current Fyter Fest card is as follows:
Pre-Show Hardcore Match
Michael Nakazawa vs Alex Jebailey
Main Card
Cody vs Darby Allin
The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson) vs Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr., Rey Fenix), and TBA
Jon Moxley vs Joey Janela
Adam Page vs Jimmy Havoc vs Jungle Boy vs MJF
Christopher Daniels vs Cima
Yuka Sakazaki vs Riho vs Nyla Rose
Fyter Fest takes place on June 29th from the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is taking place alongside the Community Effort Orlando (CEO) fighting game event.
Pentagon and Fenix are said to be suffering injuries following AEW Double or Nothing last night. Lucha Libre promotion Lucha Empire was forced to cancel a scheduled event for today in Houston that was to feature the tag team. The promotion noted that Pentagon and Fenix were banged-up following Double or Nothing and not able to travel.
6 Takeaways From AEW Double Or Nothing
The promotion posted the following to their social media accounts:
EVENT CANCELLED. Last night during AEW show "Double or Nothing" the Lucha Brothers @PentagonJunior & @ReyFenixMx got injured and were not able to travel today. If you bought your tickets online @Ticketon please call 1-800-668-8080. pic.twitter.com/AbL8NcANvc
There is no word on the nature or extent of their injuries.
Lucha Bros AEW
The Lucha Bros are likely finishing up with Impact Wrestling and MLW in the near future. It was reported recently that they will be exclusive to AEW in the United States while still working with AAA in Mexico.
In Impact, Pentagon and Fenix dropped the tag titles back to Santana and Ortiz at the Rebellion PPV in Toronto. The Lucha Bros won and lost the AAA Tag team championships in short order at Rey de Reyes in March. The Young Bucks appeared unannounced shortly after Pentagon and Fenix won the titles which led to an impromptu match that the Bucks then won.
Matt and Nick Jackson got some revenge on Pentagon and Fenix last night. In the process, they also made a match between them official for AEW Double or Nothing.
The Lucha Bros attacked the Young Bucks at the recent AEW rally in Las Vegas but the Bucks repaid the favor last night at an AAW show in Chicago. It is the first time the Young Bucks had been back in Chicago since All In on September 1st.
The Lucha Bros were defending the AAW tag-team titles against LAX when the Bucks interfered.
The interference by the Bucks allowed LAX to secure the victory over Pentagon and Fenix and win the AAW tag-team championships. The Bucks then challenged Pentagon and Fenix to a match at Double or Nothing and the Lucha Bros accepted.
Impact Wrestling presented a taped show from Mexico City last night on Pursuit and Twitch TV. It was the final show before next week’s special “UnCaged” branded show and also featured a tag-team main event between LAX and the Lucha Bros.
Here are 9 Takeaways from Impact Wrestling 2/8
The Lucha Bros Win The Impact Tag Team Championships
Pentagon Jr. and Fenix are the new Impact Wrestling World Tag Team Champions after having defeated LAX in last night’s main event. The teams are now 1-1 against each other in bouts with the titles on the line.
A rubber match between the two teams seems likely.
Fatal 4-Way For Impact World Championship Next Week
Next week's four way match seems to be giving @MrGMSI_BCage and @TheRealMorrison a shared sense of being screwed. #IMPACT
After Moose and Killer Kross defeated Johnny Impact and Brian Cage in tag action last week, they were both added to next week’s title match. Now instead of a rematch between Brian Cage and Johnny Impact, it will be a fatal 4-way match with the World Championship on the line.
The Lucha Bros vs RVD & Sabu Scheduled For United We Stand
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX_o019g9Vs
Not only did Pentagon Jr. and Fenix win the tag titles last night, their opponents for United We Stand were also announced. In what will be the night’s main event a dream tag match between the Lucha Bros and RVD & Sabu has been scheduled.
United We Stand takes place April 4th at 11 PM from Rahway, New Jersey and will air live and for free on Twitch TV.
Taya Valkyrie (c) vs Tessa Blanchard – Street Fight Title Match Next Week
Next week on Impact Wrestling, Taya Valkyrie will look to defend the Knockouts Championship against former champion, Tessa Blanchard. This will be the 4th title match between the two and it has been booked under street fight rules. Anything can happen when these two clash for the Knockouts title once again next week.
Kiera Hogan Pinned Dark Allie Again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6JBcpTOSZM
Kiera Hogan pinned Allie again last night. Previously, Hogan pinned Allie in a tag-team action but this week Hogan got the win in one-on-one competition. Rosemary has been haunting Allie as of late and she appears rattled. When Su Yung disappeared from ringside, only leaving her mandible claw glove on the apron, the distraction was enough for Hogan to hit a fisherman suplex for the win.
Sami Callihan Will Reveal Rich Swann’s Secrets Next Week
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np4TsEJEJLk
Sami Callihan has been telling the world that Rich Swann owes him for taking him in as a homeless teenager. Swann said in a promo recently, however, that all Sami wants from him is to be his 3rd guy watching his back. That’s not what family is according to Swann. This week Swann teamed up with Willie Mack and defeated the Crist Brothers. Next week, however, Sami Callihan has promised to reveal even more secrets about the X-Division Champion.
Sami Callihan Gains Momentum For Team Impact
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swE03UJmlQg
Sami Callihan will also take part in the 2019 World Cup between Impact and AAA next week. This week, however, in a preview to the 4-on-4 elimination tag match, Callihan took on Puma King and picked up the win with a piledriver.
Trey Beats Rohit Raju
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFADmm__0bU
The Rascalz got in the win column this week as Trey Miguel, the Fresh Prince of Midair, defeated the Desi Hit Squad’s Rohit Raju. Trey missed out on becoming X-Division champion at Homecoming but will move back up the division’s rankings with this win.
Lineup For Impact Wrestling’s UnCaged – Next Week
NEXT WEEK – We present Uncaged on Pursuit and Twitch!
Impact Wrestling’s big show over WrestleMania weekend will be United We Stand on April 4th. The Lucha Bros will face RVD & Sabu in the show’s main event. The match was made official during last night’s broadcast of Impact Wrestling on Pursuit and Twitch.
United We Stand will air live and for free on Twitch.Tv/ImpactWrestling.
The Lucha Bros vs RVD & Sabu – United We Stand – April 4th, 2019
“Rob Van Dam and Sabu will face Pentagon Jr. and Fenix in a must see dream match!” an Impact press release for the match reads. “An instant classic if there ever was one! RVD and Sabu return to IMPACT Wrestling. We can’t wait for this tag team clash.”
The show starts at 11 PM from the Rahway Recreation Center in Rahway, New Jersey.
Last month, Impact Wrestling and Major League Wrestling announced they would work together to stagger their shows so fans would be able to attend both:
“Due to the New York curfew preventing us from starting at 11:00 p.m. ET, we have moved our live event to New Jersey,” stated Impact’s Scott D’Amore.
“We want to thank our partners at WrestlePro for facilitating this collaboration on April 4th and also thank House of Glory and stress that we couldn’t make this happen for our great fans without their cooperation.”
In Atlanta, this weekend, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix accepted the Young Bucks offer to come work for them in AEW. According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Radio, however, the Lucha Bros are not free to commit to AEW on more than a per-match basis.
“They are on a per match deal with AEW because they cannot sign them because they are under contract with Lucha Underground,” Dave Meltzer said.
“They will have plenty of offers and make a lot of money,” Meltzer continued. “But it’s not happening until they get out of that Lucha Underground contract.”
The report continued to state that Pentagon and Fenix will still end up working with Impact Wrestling, however.
The only wrestling promotion with more people trying to leave it than WWE at the moment is Lucha Underground. Numerous talents have expressed frustrations recently with the terms of the contracts they signed with the company. Joey Ryan and Ivelisse have both stated the company told wrestlers they would be granted their releases if requested.
“I back Ivelisse 100% on this. Prior to S4, we were told anybody who requested a release would be granted one,” Joey Ryan Tweeted in response to Ivelisse saying she felt held hostage by the promotion. “Some did and left after the tapings. Others showed faith in the product and now seems are being punished for it. With no S5 in sight, it’s petty to keep anyone locked up.”
All Elite Wrestling has been going all out and pulling no stops to acquire as much talent as possible from the independent scene and without much surprise Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Hangman Page and SoCal Uncensored were present at McAloon Productions’ Come Hell or High Water event in Atlanta, GA last night.
In the main event of the pay-per-view show, the current Impact Tag Champions The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix) defeated SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Christopher Daniels), after which they were met with a thankful speech from The Young Bucks who said that they are grateful to the Lucha Brothers for keeping tag team wrestling alive.
The Jackson Brothers then proceeded to offer an All Elite Wrestling contract to the Lucha Brothers. Although the offer did not involve any official paperwork, the Young Bucks said that a handshake agreement would do just fine for now.
Before the Lucha Brothers could respond, they were met with an attack from local wrestlers who were part of the event. SCU came to the rescue of the Lucha Brothers and they along with the Young Bucks fended off the attacks.
Pentagon Jr. and Fenix then agreed to join AEW, by shaking the Young Bucks’ hands.
Major League Wrestling will air live from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday, February 2nd on BeIN Sports. An MLW press release confirmed the news that the promotion’s second live episode of Fusion will take place next month.
“Major League Wrestling and beIN SPORTS are excited to announce that on Saturday night February 2nd at 8pm ET, the 2300 Arena will host the next MLW Fusion LIVE on beIN SPORTS.”
One match for the live special has been officially confirmed. Pentagon and Fenix will defend their MLW World Tag Team Championships against the Hart Foundation team of Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Teddy Hart. The Hart Foundation will also have Brian Pillman Jr. in their corner.
MLW Fusion Live: February 2nd, 2019
Philadelphia PA, 2300 Arena
The current card for MLW Superfight on February 2nd includes:
MLW World Heavyweight Champion Low-Ki (c) vs Tom Lawlor
MLW World Tag Team Champions Pentagon and Fenix w/Konnan vs The Hart Foundation (Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Teddy Hart) w/ Brian Pillman Jr.
The last episode of Impact Wrestling on POP TV aired last night. It was also the go-home show for Sunday’s Homecoming PPV. Impact has promised an edgier product to go along with the move to a network more suited for it.
8 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 1/3:
Johnny Impact and Brian Cage Square Off Before Homecoming
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8SPepgPqck
The Lucha Bros defeated Johnny Impact and Brian Cage
In the night’s main event, Pentagon and Fenix defeated the World Champion and #1 contender. Following the match, it appeared as though Cage and Impact were going to agree to settle things in Nashville but Johnny appeared to change his mind just as Cage went to leave. The champion motioned for Cage not to leave the ring and the two brawled through security to end the show.
Raven & Tommy Dreamer United Against Eli Drake
Eli Drake cut a promo this week hyping his Monster’s Ball match with Abyss on Sunday. Tommy Dreamer came out to attack Drake but just as he was going to stomp his head into a chair, the lights went out. When they came back on Raven was in the ring. The two long-time enemies stared each other down before teaming up to beat up Drake. Raven and Dreamer might have a vested interest in Abyss vs Drake this Sunday.
There Are No Friends In War Between LAX and Lucha Bros
This is passion. This is fire. This is what the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles mean to @Ortiz5150 and @SantanaLAX.
The Lucha Bros and LAX each cut backstage promos this week about their Impact tag-team championship match at Homecoming. LAX said they will prove they can win without Konnan, who has said he won’t’ be in the corner for the match.
Pentagon and Fenix said backstage that the two teams aren’t allies and it will not be a friendly match in Nashville.
Sami Callihan Vs Willie Mack Added To Homecoming
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PAHGGVl760
Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Dezmond Xavier, Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz defeated Sami Callihan, Dave Crist, Jake Crist, Matt Sydal & Ethan Page
Sami Callihan and OVE are the reason Willie Mack isn’t wrestling for the X-Division Championship at Homecoming. This week Callihan again antagonized Mack by attacking him after the Rascalz, Mack and Rich Swann defeated OVE, Ethan Page, and Matt Sydal.
4 of the wrestlers in this match, Jake Crist, Ethan Page, Swann, and Trey, will compete in the Ultimate X match on Sunday. Meanwhile, after Callihan and OVE attacked Mack after the match, Impact officials made the match between Callihan and Mack official for Sunday.
Allie & Su Yung vs Kiera Hogan & Jordynn Grace Added To Homecoming
Allie defeated Kiera Hogan
Dark Allie defeated her old ally, Kiera Hogan, in single’s competition this week. After the match, Allie and Su Yung continued the beat down on Hogan until Jordynne Grace made the save. Later in the show, a tag match featuring the four involved was made official for Homecoming.
Killer Kross Put Trevor Lee Out Of The Territory
Killer Kross defeated Trevor Lee
Earlier in the show, Trevor Lee was seen telling management he was sick of sitting on the sidelines. Impact management booked him in a match with Killer Kross as a result. Kross not only beat Trevor Lee, he then sent him out of the territory by smashing a cinder block over his head.
Kross has been trying to tell Johnny Impact as of late that Johnny needs to have Kross watch his back. It’s possible Kross decides to get involved in the main event of Homecoming.
Not match happened this week in the Knockouts division. The rivalry between Tessa Blanchard and Taya Valkyrie will see match #3 take place on Sunday. Blanchard won the first match, albeit there was some controversy as the referee had been out of position after Valkyrie hit the Road to Valhalla. Blanchard was then DQ’ed in the rematch. With Gail Kim assigned as the special referee for this one, the Knockouts title match at Homecoming could steal the show.
Scarlett Bordeaux Scouts KM & Fallah Bah
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12daRQ3HbXU
Scarlett Bordeaux continued her talent search this week as well. She seemed somewhat impressed with the team of KM and Fallah Bah, who were victorious over the Desi Hit Squad this week.
Quick Results:
Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Dezmond Xavier, Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz defeated Sami Callihan, Dave Crist, Jake Crist, Matt Sydal & Ethan Page
KM & Fallah Bah defeated The Desi Hit Squad
Allie defeated Kiera Hogan
Killer Kross defeated Trevor Lee
Fenix and Pentagon defeated Brian Cage and Johnny Impact
Homecoming PPV Lineup
Impact World Championship
Johnny Impact (c) vs Brian Cage
Knockouts Championship
Tessa Blanchard (c) vs Taya Valkyrie
X-Division Championship Ultimate X Match

Impact Tag Team Championships
LAX (c) vs The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix)
wXw has announced the next name for 2019’s 16 Carat Gold tournament. The company has confirmed that Pentagon Jr will be making his way to Germany. The former Lucha Underground star will be appearing in Oberhausen March 8th-10th to take part in the prestigious event. The other confirmed name for the event is Big Japan’s Daisuke Sekimoto.
Since leaving Lucha Underground Pentagon has been heavily featured on the international independent scene. The Lucha star had a critically acclaimed bout against Kenny Omega at the ALL IN event earlier this year and has been seen on cards across Europe, South America and beyond.
wXw’s 16 Carat Gold tournament is currently regarded as one of the most prestigious in European wrestling. Several top WWE/NXT stars have appeared in and won the event. These include Aleister Black, Sami Zayn and Kassius Ohno. WALTER and Zack Sabre Jr are also synonymous with the event.
The 2017 and 2018 iterations of the tournament are widely regarded as two of the greatest in European wrestling history, you can check them out now on wXw’s on demand service, it certainly matches up to the annual New Japan G1 and PROGRESS Super Strong 16 tournaments on quality.
Impact Wrestling presented their 3rd episode from the Las Vegas tapings last night. Last week, however, the promotion only aired one new match with the rest having been flashbacks to previous Thanksgiving specials.
This week, the promotion was back to building towards Homecoming on January 6th, 2019 in Nashville.
Here are 10 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 11/29:
Two weeks ago on Impact, LAX told Konnan they want to defend their belts against Pentagon and Fenix. Konnan said he didn’t like that match just yet but LAX challenged the Lucha Bros this week anyway.
Pentagon and Fenix had just defeated Willie Mack and Rich Swann to open the show when LAX came out and challenged them. The title match was later made official for Homecoming.
Later in the show, Konnan told LAX that once the two teams went head-to-head there would be no turning back, and no being friends after and that’s why he didn’t want the match to happen yet.
Killer Kross Is Still Trying To Protect Johnny Impact
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyQwX1Wo07Y
Killer Kross wants to help Johnny Impact. Kross again offered to help Johnny “do whatever it takes” to beat Brian Cage at Homecoming this week. It sounds as though Kross is trying to bring out a different side of Johnny, one he believes is more capable of beating someone like Brian Cage.
One has to wonder if Kross is going to take it upon himself to influence what happens between Cage and Johnny at Homecoming.
Eli Drake Goes Hardcore On Tommy Dreamer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IitXAhkUMv4
Eli Drake defeated Tommy Dreamer – No DQ MATCH
Eli Drake wants to rid Impact Wrestling of hardcore matches and wrestlers like Tommy Dreamer. Ironically, Dreamer actually beat Drake via count-out in the night’s main event, only for the match to be re-started as a No DQ match by Impact management. Once playing under Tommy’s rules, Drake managed to get the victory.
Dreamer kicked out from the Gravy Train, the first person in Impact to do so. This left Drake needing to take things a step farther to get the win in last night’s main event. He wrapped a steel chair around Dreamer’s head and bashed it with a boat ore before pinning him for the win.
Taya Valkyrie Adds A Submission To Her Arsenal
Taya Valkyrie defeated Ray Lyn
At Bound For Glory, Tessa Blanchard needed to break out a new move to defeat Taya Valkyrie. After Taya kicked out from the Buzzsaw DDT, Blanchard broke out “Magnum”, a top rope codebreaker named after her step-father, Magnum TA.
This week Taya broke out a new submission move to get the win over Ray Lyn. It wasn’t the only new wrinkle added to the Knockouts title match at Homecoming, however, as Tessa Blanchard’s conflict with Impact referees continues.
Tessa Blanchard Will Strangle Referees/Gail Kim Does Not Condone
Taya vs Tessa II at Final Hour ended when Blanchard punched the referee to get purposely disqualified. The referee then visited Blanchard in the back this week and explained that in the ring, he stands for law and order. When Blanchard hit the ring after Taya’s match this week, she ended up punching the referee yet again. She would continue to strangle him until his face was flush red.
Impact Hall-of-Famer, Gail Kim, had to come out and pry Blanchard off of the referee. Management may have to take action against the Knockouts Champion. Will Gail Kim play a further role in the Tessa v Taya rivalry?
Eddie Edwards Is Staying At Shady Acres
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJ6513ph24k&t=7s
Eddie Edwards is staying at a mental institution which shares the same name as the one from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Somehow, his doctors seemed to think it was a good idea to allow Alisha Edwards to berate him for several moments before then allowing Moose to read to him from his own children’s book.
Moose mentioned Edwards’ book didn’t mention Moose power-bombing him on the ramp or any of the other beatings he’s given him. Edwards will likely be released from Shady Acres before Homecoming, and we’ll possibly see him and Moose renew their rivalry then.
Kiera Hogan Pleas For The Old Allie To Come Back
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KiMJO8V6MY
A new Allie has returned from the undead realm, one now aligned with James Mitchell and Su Yung. This week Kiera Hogan made a plea for the good Allie to return. Hogan believes the darkness hasn’t fully consumed Allie. She said Allie could have really hurt her two weeks ago but didn’t. To Hogan, that makes her believe good Allie is still alive deep within this new dark Allie.
Jordynne Grace Is Very Strong (Still)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZVoE-WU_o8
Jordynne Grace defeated Katarina
Jordynne Grace has started her Impact Wrestling career by defeating Katarina twice in a row. Katarina seemed to get in a bit more offense then she did last time out but the end result was the same: Grace squeezing her opponent in a bear-hug so tight the tap-out comes almost instantly.
After Homecoming, it’s likely a new challenger for the Knockouts title will need to be declared (assuming there are no further immediate Tessa vs Taya matches). Grace is someone who could rise to the top of the division quickly as we head into 2019.
The Rascalz Have Arrived
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoWe7pscr7o
Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz defeated Mike Sydal & Chris Bey
Trey Miguel, Dezmond Xavier, and Zachary Wentz have arrived in Impact Wrestling. They’d each participated in tapings before but now it’s clear the trio are about to make a splash in the promotion. All three have impressed many on the independent scene and look primed to do the same thing in Impact Wrestling.

LAX (c) vs Pentagon and Fenix
Impact Wrestling’s Final Hour aired last night. The branded-episode featured an Impact World Championship match between Johnny Impact and Killer Kross. It was the final episode before the promotion heads to Las Vegas next week for 3 nights of tapings.
Here are 8 Takeaways from Impact Wrestling 11/8:
Johnny Impact Successfully Defended His Championship Against Killer Kross
Impact World Championship – Johnny Impact (c) defeated Killer Kross
Johnny Impact defended the Impact World Championship for the second consecutive time at Final Hour. He defeated Killer Kross with Starship Pain to close the show. The two built-up their main event match earlier this week on Impact Press Pass.
It wasn’t an easy victory for the champion, he survived a Razor’s Edge from the entrance ramp to the ring, several big suplexes, and a Straight-Jacket choke attempt to get the victory. It was the first time Kross has been pinned or submitted in Impact. The win means Johnny will head to the Las Vegas tapings still the champion.
The Lucha Brothers Defeated the OGZ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7hEYjU91Sw
Pentagon and Fenix defeated Homicide and Hernandez w/KIng
The Lucha Bros took out the OGZ this week, defeating them in the opening contest. In the back, Konnan congratulated Pentagon and Fenix and invited them to an after-party. LAX showed up and also congratulated the Lucha Bros but then seemed confused as to what Konnan was inviting the luchadors to. Konnan told them it was an after-party to celebrate LAX’s win over the OGZ but the tag champs brought up that match was a month ago. Could there be dissension building between LAX, the Lucha Bros, and Konnan? Time will tell.
Sami Callihan’s Army Of Minions Beat Up Brian Cage In Anonymous, Ohio
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7rM_-hvQFY
The real Brian Cage went to Ohio this week but he got more than he bargained for. After Cage had asserted his dominance over Callihan, an army of Ohio-based minions came to defend OVE. Cage was simply out-numbered. Can Callihan’s army subdue the Machine? As Impact heads to Las Vegas, an X-Division title match has been confirmed between the two.
Allie Has Aligned With James Mitchell
Allie left her soul in the undead realm at Bound For Glory. Now she is consumed by a dark force. This week, James Mitchell offered to help Allie “heal”. Allie agreed to go with Mitchell if he agreed to leave her friends alone. Su Yung then magically appeared alongside Mitchell and the two of them led Allie away as Kiera Hogan protested.
When we see Allie again, it’s not clear if she will even resemble the person she’d been previously.
Moose Broke Eddie Edwards
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0j6sQzchEY
Moose defeated Eddie Edwards
Moose may have won the match but did he go too far? In the closing moments of his match with Eddie Edwards, Moose power-bombed his opponent onto the entrance ramp. He followed that up by giving Edwards a spear inside the ring and pinning him. It’s a big win for Moose who re-establishes himself at the top of the men’s single’s division and also sends a message to the rest of the roster that he’s a dangerous man to mess with.
Jordynne Grace is a Strong, Strong Woman
Jordynne Grace defeated Katarina
Jordynne Grace made her debut at Final Hour last night. She defeated Katarina via submission due to a vicious bear-hug. The rest of the Knockouts might be advised to be on the lookout for Grace, who could rise up the rankings pretty quickly by the looks of it.
Eli Drake Attacked Joseph Park
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaR3BeZpMiI
Eli Drake cut a promo last night. He said he has officially retired the Open Challenge and is filing suit against Impact Wrestling for unsafe work conditions. Joseph Park then said there were others who were going to join the lawsuit as well but when he turned around to introduce them, Drake low-blowed him. Drake then beat him up while cutting a promo which acknowledged Park is also Abyss, the man who attacked him at Bound For Glory. He blamed Abyss for the state of the wrestling business and hardcore plunder-based wrestling.
Several Matches Announced For Las Vegas Tapings
Impact has confirmed a few matches which will take place at next week’s TV tapings in Las Vegas.
Johnny Impact vs Matt Sydal
X-Division Championship – Brian Cage (c) vs Sami Callihan
Tessa Blanchard vs TBD
LAX vs TBD
Quick Results:
The Lucha Brothers defeated the OGZ
Jordynne Grace defeated Katarina
Moose defeated Eddie Edwards
Impact World Championship – Johnny Impact (c) defeated Killer Kross
Impact Wrestling will present their third show since Bound For Glory tonight. The episode was filmed inside New York’s Melrose Ballroom. The main event will be a rematch from Bound For Glory when Tessa Blanchard defends her Knockouts Championship against Taya Valkyrie.
Impact is also just one-week away from their next branded episode, Final Hour. Johnny Impact will defend the title against Killer Kross on that show.
Impact Wrestling Preview 11/1
Knockouts Championship
Tessa Blanchard (c) vs Taya Valkyrie
Last week, Blanchard confronted Taya in the back. Two weeks ago, Taya had said she doesn’t respect Blanchard anymore after she used underhanded tactics to secure the victory at the PPV. Tonight, Blanchard wants to show she doesn’t need any help from the referees to defeat Taya.
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championships
LAX (c) vs Ethan Page and Matt Sydal
Despite losing at Bound For Glory, Ethan Page and Matt Sydal will get a title match against LAX tonight. The third-eye seeing tandem confronted Konnan and LAX in the back last week which led to them receiving a title match this week.
As for LAX, they might believe they don’t have to worry about King and the OGz anymore but King seems to have found a way to get to Konnan without going through them.
Pengaton Jr. vs Homicide
Kings’ OGZ have figured out they can get to Konnan without skirting the rules set out by the crime bosses in New York. To do so, they just have to get to Pentagon Jr and Fenix, the Lucha brothers. Tonight, former Ring Of Honor World Champion Homicide takes on former Impact (and LU) World Champion Pentagon Jr.
Willie Mack vs Rich Swann
Last week on Impact Wrestling, Rich Swann and Willie Mack were shown in the backstage area. They appeared to be celebrating their win at Bound for Flory when Mack said he wanted to face Swann in his single’s debut next week. His reasoning was that he wants to show everyone what the two of them can do. Meanwhile, the team they beat at Bound for Glory will take on the tag team champions tonight.
With just 10 days to go until Bound For Glory, Impact Wrestling presented their third show from the Mexico City tapings held last month. Here are 10 key takeaways from the show.
Impact Wrestling 10/4
Bound For Glory Came Early In The Main Event
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjBi_RdB1ZI
We are now just 9 days away from Bound For Glory but we got Brian Cage and the Lucha Brothers vs Sami Callihan and OVE tonight. The difference this week is that it wasn’t under OVE rules as will be the case at Bound For Glory. As a result of the difference in rules this week, the match was declared a DQ after Callihan pushed the referee. Not a bad move to get intentionally disqualified when you are in the ring with Brian Cage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01kI289R2ig
Dave Crist, who was kidnapped by the Lucha Brothers recently, has come under the belief that Pentagon and Fenix have magical powers. Sami Callihan does not agree but he’s really upset regardless.
Austin Aries Offer Johnny Impact A Spot In His Faction – Johnny Declined
Austin Aries promised he will go into Bound For Glory without the help of Moose and Killer Kross. Is he telling the truth? Or will he stoop to all levels to keep his belt on October 14th?
Johnny Impact knew Austin Aries was alone tonight in Mexico City. Eddie Edwards let him know Moose and Killer Kross were tied up with him. So Johnny called out Impact World Champion, Austin Aries.
Impact commended Aries on coming out by himself, even with his hand in a sling after Johnny’s attack last week. Aries promised he’d do the same at Bound For Glory because he’s the best wrestler in the world.
The Impact World Champion then offered Johnny a spot in his faction with Kross and Moose but obviously, Johnny declined. Aries then hit Johnny with the microphone and looked to soften up his upcoming challenger. Johnny got the better of the exchange, however, and ended the segment with Starship Pain.
Moose Kidnapped Alisha Edwards, Eddie Edwards Came To The Rescue
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn2QROyogrw
Moose kidnapped the wrong Bostonian woman this week. He opted to kidnap Alisha Edwards as if she was helpless or something. He did this to lure Edwards into a trap. Like most heels luring a babyface into a trap, Moose spent some time explaining to Edwards his motivation for turning on him. He talked again about how Aries was the only one to call him in the hospital after Slammiversary. Edwards explained he didn’t call Moose because he was just a few rooms down in the hospital as a result of what happened in his match with Tommy Dreamer.
Alisha attacked Moose and Eddie was able to get away from Killer Kross in the melee. This allowed both Eddie and Alisha to escape and Eddie to call Johnny and let him know Aries was by himself.
Su Yung Locked Kiera Hogan In A Coffin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PguGITAm8sk
Su Yung defeated Kiera Hogan
Former Knockouts Champion Su Yung picked up a victory this week over up-and-coming Kiera Hogan. She then motioned for the undead bridesmaids to bring the coffin down to ringside. Allie attempted to break up the attack but was simply out-numbered. Cameras caught Allie in the back reacting to what happened.
Petey Williams Teaches Scarlett Bordeaux The Canadian Destroyer
Several wrestlers were attempting to impress Scarlett Bordeaux in the back. One of the wrestlers, Petey Williams, attempted to teach Scarlett the Canadian Destroyer piledriver, a move I have a feeling we might see her attempt in Impact at some point.
Trevor Lee took offense to Petey’s actions and Scarlett suggested the two should take it up in the ring.
Murder Clown Got Revenge For Katarina
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfYditQjyh8
Murder Clown defeated Joe Hendry
Joe Hendry may have dropped a new music video this week but Katarina was the last one laughing this week.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tqyfw6lCAcY
Katarina has enlisted the help of Murder Clown in her quest for revenge against Joe Hendry and Grado. So far, her plan is working to perfection. Not only did Murder Clown defeat Joe Hendry, but he also delivered a splash off the top and through a table to end the segment.
LA Parka Answered Eli Drake’s Challenge
LA Parka defeated Eli Drake via count-out
Scarlett Bordeaux joined Don Callis and Josh Mathews on commentary for this match. She’s holding her Global Talent Search to find the right wrestler to earn her services full-time.
Drake likely didn’t expect one of the most legendary and high-profile luchadors in Mexico to answer his call. As a result, Drake ended up abandoning the match and allowing La Parka to pick up the win via count-out. Bordeaux indicated she was shocked at what Eli Drake did and wouldn’t mind asking him in the back about what was going through his head.
Taya Valkyrie Promo On Tessa Blanchard
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxxGicQN7Qw
Arguably the biggest match to take place in the Knockouts Division in the new era of Impact Wrestling, Tessa Blanchard will defend her Knockouts Championship at Bound For Glory against Taya Valkyrie.
The returning Valkyrie cut a backstage promo this week.
Ethan Page Is Matt Sydal’s New Protege
Matt Sydal defeated Rich Swann
Matt Sydal and Rich Swann went one-on-one finally this week. Swann had been trying to get a single’s match with Sydal earlier but Sydal went to management and had them put together as a team first. When that didn’t work, the single’s match was finally scheduled for tonight.
Ethan Page wrestled a couple of matches for Impact last year under the name Chandler Park. He interfered tonight, allowing Sydal to pick up the win. Page would later announce he’s aligned with Sydal and is likely looking at things through his 3rd eye.
Page and Sydal will take on Rich Swann and a partner of his choosing at Bound For Glory.
The OGZ Tried To Bait Konnan And LAX
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmNZBn8gRxM
Last week, the OGZ burned Konnan’s mask but K-Dawg said this week he’s not taking the bait and not breaking the ceasefire. This week, King and the OGZ showed up again and tried to bait Konnan. They got in his face, grabbed the title belts, and tried to bait them into breaking the ceasefire. They did some shots and then left. Konnan seemed calm but the other members of LAX looked as though they wanted revenge.
Quick Results:
Matt Sydal defeated Rich Swann
Murder Clown defeated Joe Hendry
LA Parka defeated Eli Drake
Su Yung defeated Kiera Hogan
The Lucha Brothers and Brian Cage defeated Sami Callihan and OVE via DQ
We are down to the final two episodes of Impact Wrestling before Bound For Glory. The two episodes left will both be from the 2nd night of tapings from Mexico City last month.
Impact Wrestling 10/4
Rich Swann vs Matt Sydal
Two of the most innovative wrestlers there are will clash tonight. Sydal and Swann are two big reasons fans have to be excited about the future of the X-Division. Swann has rebuffed Sydal’s offer at being his mentor so Swann will want to prove he doesn’t need one tonight. I would have to imagine that whoever comes out of this program the winner would be the next in line for a shot at Brian Cage’s X-Division title. That will have to wait until after Bound For Glory, however.
Joe Hendry vs Murder Clown
Possibly the best-named wrestler ever, Murder Clown, has been enlisted by Katarina to help get revenge on Joe Hendry and Grado. Murder Clown is part of the clown faction in AAA, with Psycho Clown perhaps being the best known of the bunch.
Katarina is a woman-scorn and she wants revenge on Hendry and Grado. Murder Clown seems like a good wrestler to turn to with help on this.
Eli Drake Open Challenge
Eli Drake will issue another open challenge tonight. Anyone from the Impact roster or any luchador near Mexico City could answer the call.
Su Yung vs Kiera Hogan
Kiera Hogan picked up arguably one of the most important victories in her young Impact career last week. Hogan pinned former Knockouts Champion, Su Yung, in a tag match. Hogan and Allie defeated Yung and one of her undead bridesmaids. A win in a single’s match for Hogan could push her high up in the Knockouts rankings. Yung, on the other hand, could be out for revenge.
Scarlett Bordeaux Smoke Show
Last week, Scarlett Bordeaux announced she was holding a global talent search. The lucky winner will have Bordeaux’s mentoring services all to themselves. Perhaps we will find out more about her plans tonight.
On a side note, Scarlett Bordeaux’s AAA debut is one of the most watched things on YouTube for the promotion ever. She has certainly been winning over new fans as of late.
What Is Next For LAX?
Last week, King burned Konnan’s mask in an act of disrespect. King called Konnan one of the biggest myths in all of Mexican wrestling. Tonight, Konnan and LAX will have to adhere to the ceasefire but they might just have something to say with only 10 days left until Bound For Glory (wow, just realized that).
Knockouts Championship Tessa Blanchard (c) vs Taya Valkyrie
There doesn’t appear to be anything specific dedicated to this pending matchup on tonight’s show but that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything. Likely we’ll get backstage promos from both or a video package.
Sami Callihan and OVE Issue A Challenge To Brian Cage and the Lucha Brothers
As I was writing this, Impact posted the following video:

Concrete Jungle Deathmatch
LAX & Konnan vs OGZ & King
There has been a significant update in the ongoing saga that is the Pentagon and Fenix to WWE speculation.
Both Lucha Brothers have once again started to accept indy bookings in 2019. The rumors of Pentagon and Fenix going to WWE were kickstarted by the pair trying to free their schedule for next year.
The status of the Lucha Brothers was discussed in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
“(Pentagon and Fenix) have started making commitments to promoters for next year,” Dave Meltzer wrote. “Which indicates they aren’t planning on doing anything (in WWE) anytime soon.”
Pentagon Jr. and Fenix Rumors
The report continues to speculate it might be the brothers’ Lucha Underground contracts which prevent them from signing with WWE. It had previously been reported the pair felt they had an opt-out clause following the completion of Season 4 airing. The El Rey Network has already committed to the 5th season of the show.
At a recent PCW event, Pentagon addressed the WWE rumors by saying he’s not going anywhere.
“Respect that I am the PCW Champion and no one is going to take that from me,” Pentagon said. “Thank you very much! And before I forget. I am not going anywhere. Penta will be in PCW for many, more years.”
Pentagon and Fenix teamed up last night on Impact Wrestling to defeat the Cult of Lee. The pair is also tag-team champions in MLW and will wrestle on the CMLL Anniversary show today.
We have more on the rumors suggesting Pentagon Jr. and Fenix are WWE bound.
Earlier this month, it was noticed that Pentagon Jr. shared a story on his official Facebook page suggesting he and his brother were heading to WWE. MLW also teased this in a recent Tweet. However, Pentagon himself quickly shot this rumor down at a PCW Ultra event.
Following a successful PCW Ultra Championship defense, Pentagon made the following comments:
“Respect that I am the PCW Champion and no one is going to take that from me. Thank you very much! And before I forget. I am not going anywhere. Penta will be in PCW for many, more years.”
Per a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix aren’t able to sign with any other promotion at this time. They’re currently inked to contracts with Lucha Underground. However, the opportunity may arise when the fourth season of Lucha Underground wraps up.
Currently, it’s unknown when the season will end. The 14th episode will air this week and last season featured 40 episodes.
There’s a strong feeling that Pentagon and Fenix could opt to sign with WWE once their deals are up. They could also decide to renew their deal with Lucha or sign with another promotion such as AAA.
Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk regarding the futures of Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix. At one point, it seemed as though the Lucha Bros.’ future appeared obvious: WWE. However, Pentagon Jr. stated over the weekend that he is “not going anywhere” any time soon.
According to Dave Meltzer, Pentagon and Fenix are currently tied up with their Lucha Underground contracts. He speculated that they might have an “out” clause after the current season ends, at which point they’d be able to negotiate with other companies. They very well might wind up in WWE next year, but you can be sure there will also be interest in the companies like Lucha Underground, Impact Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA and MLW.
Independent Living
With so much interest in them from such major promotions, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix have the rare opportunity to control their own destiny with their decision.
With The Young Bucks, Cody, and Kenny Omega having spearheaded a revolution, demonstrating that you don’t necessarily need the WWE to have a successful career in wrestling, all the wrestling world can do is wait in anticipation to see where they end up.
Championship Bros.
Pentagon Jr. has accomplished a lot on the independent scene. He has won the AAW Heavyweight Championship, AAA Latin American Championship, Impact World Championship, and Lucha Underground Championship.
Fenix accomplishments include the AAW Heavyweight Championship and currently, he is the AAA Mega Champion. He is also a former Lucha Underground Champion.
The Lucha Bros. currently hold the MLW World Tag Team Championship for Major League Wrestling.
There has been a lot of speculation over the current status of both Pentagon Jr. and his brother, Fenix. Rumours have been rampant that the duo are WWE bound, with neither taking bookings in 2019 – a move that is, according to Dave Meltzer, “usually a sign of going to WWE.” Pentagon Jr. has added another element of intrigue into the fray, however, in a recent video uploaded to YouTube by PCW Ultra.
“I Am Not Going Anywhere.”
The video took place after a championship match up between Pentagon Jr. (wrestling here as Penta El Zero M) and Hammerstone. In it, Pentagon thanks the crowd, reminding them that he is their champion:
“Respect that I am the PCW champ and no one is going to take that from me. Thank you very much!”
But before heading to the back, Pentagon had one more thing to get off his chest:
“And before I forget,” he said. “I am not going anywhere. Penta will be in PCW for many more years.”
Another promotion, Major League Wrestling (MLW), had previously added to this confusion over the brothers’ futures when they Tweeted out the following:
With so much evidence pointing towards the WWE, it’s interesting to see these teases and moments that contradict that narrative.
A new post from Pentagon Jr.’s official Facebook page is fueling speculation that he and Rey Fenix are in fact headed to WWE/NXT:
“According to multiple sources, WWE is interested in signing both Penta the zero fear and King Phoenix. The Company’s plan is to push them both as individual competitors in nxt and not as a couple. This way, pushing the Latin American market to see the product of the yellow brand. Should WWE send Penta and Fenix to NXt or should they send them straight to the main roster?”
Evidence Pentagon and Fenix Could Be WWE Bound
WWE generally does not permit new signees from publicizing their signing. If the rumors concerning the brothers are true, it’s likely they are unable to speak publicly about it. The evidence the pair are WWE bound is mounting, however.
Earlier this summer, the brothers told promoters dates they’d booked for 2019 are now questionable. They’ve also stopped accepting bookings for next year.
“The main thing is that both are not taking any dates in 2019,” wrote Dave Meltzer in mid-August. “Which is usually a sign of going to WWE.”
MLW also threw some shade on the ongoing rumors in a recent social media post:
Pentagon Jr. has accomplished a lot on the independent scene. He has won the AAW Heavyweight Championship, AAA Latin American Championship, and Impact World Championship.
Fenix accomplishments include the AAW Heavyweight Championship and currently, he is the AAA Mega Champion.
The Lucha Bros. currently hold the MLW World Tag Team Championship for Major League Wrestling.
Major League Wrestling (MLW) might have given the strongest indication yet that Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix are WWE bound next year. Following memorable performances at last weekend’s All In pay-per-view, the Lucha Bros. were in action at Thursday night’s MLW War Games event from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The MLW Twitter account posted the following before the show:
Did you spot it? Of course you did. There’s a reason this tweet has so many interactions. So, what is nxt for Pentagon and Fenix? As we’ve been covering, the brothers from Tijuana, Mexico are said to be on the radar of WWE.
Recently, it was noted in the Wrestling Observer that they are not accepting independent bookings beyond the end of the year. Many industry pundits have taken this as another indication they are will headed ‘up north’ in a matter of months.
In addition to working for Major League Wrestling, Pentagon and Fenix also have prominent roles with Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling.
What matches are you excited should Pentagon and Fenix sign with WWE?
