    — Ricky Steamboat is still recuperating from a capillary burst of the brain at his home in Charlotte, North Carolina. When the WWE Hall of Famer returns to work, he is expected to assume a role at Florida Championship Wrestling as a trainer.

    — Last week, WWE pushed Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton as their first encounter in a singles match on Monday Night Raw. That is incorrect, as on the July 5, 2004 episode of Raw, Orton pinned Jericho following interference from Batista.

  • Orton Comments On ‘BS’ Rumors; Hardy’s Split Personality, More

“Whatever u read saying I’m unhappy as a face is bs. Haven’t felt that way since I turned.”

We reported what we heard, but take that for what it is.

    — Matt Hardy has launched a second Twitter account via twitter.com/THEMATTHEWBRAND. He tweets back and forth between both personalities.

Regarding the second account, Matt explained, “Like I promised you all earlier, no more character stuff on my personal Twitter or YT pages, can’t say the same for @THEMATTHEWBRAND sites..”

Matthew Hardy is a ‘cold-blooded’ version of himself. Matthew’s bio reads: “The Cold-Blooded version of MMH, MATTHEW M HARDY.. Doing whatever I choose to, however I choose to, while speaking the Cold-Blooded Gospel!”

  • JR Blog: Orton As WWE Champion, Jericho’s Future, HHH, Cole

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com.  Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Orton as WWE champion: “Randy Orton becoming WWE Champion is a positive in my view. Orton appeals to the young, male demo better, arguably, than any one in WWE. Orton’s demeanor and in ring stylings are somewhat ‘Attitude Era’ oriented of which many fans miss. The pressure of being the WWE champion is pronounced and how the competitive Orton handles that stress and the demands on his time will help define this title reign. I really enjoy Randy’s work and hope to see him in some viable, one on one bouts going forward. If he is still the WWE Champion come WM27, Orton’s contributions to the biggest PPV of the year will be significant. One can almost see the wheels turning as to who the WWE Champion might face for the title in Atlanta…if his reign lasts that long. TBD.”

Jericho’s Future: “No I do not think that Chris Jericho is leaving WWE for good but I do think that Chris will continue to focus on Fozzy not to mention promoting his upcoming, 3 disc, WWE DVD (Awesome BTW) which might necessitate that he not appear on weekly TV on a regular basis. Stepping away from the weekly grind isn’t a bad thing for anyone and allows one to recharge their batteries and enjoy the fruits of their labor.”

HHH: “Had a great talk with HHH in Chicago who is also looking good but I do not know his future plans re: returning to the ring. The Game has a very bright, insightful mind for the business. I like his personal business philosophies on wrestling.  HHH was interested in my upcoming trip to FCW this week as the future of WWE rests largely inside the four walls of the FCW Training facility.”

Michael Cole: “Most people understand that Michael Cole is changing his on air persona to become more of an antagonist and more caustic. That’s simply the creative direction that he’s moving and I actually feel that if and when he masters that dynamic that it can add something unique to the TV presentation. Conflict at the announce table is entertaining to me as some of my best days doing PXP were when the King was a villain and Paul Heyman was simply being himself….and I mean that in a positive way. Think of how effective JBL was on commentary and he certainly never positioned himself as a ‘good guy.’ Point is that controlled conflict helps facilitate most broadcasts as long as the talent and what we are seeing on our TV screen remains the focus and it doesn’t become about the broadcasters.”

  • Orton Pulled From Match Sunday, Fans Brawl Over Cena T-Shirt

    — Randy Orton was dealing with a sore neck and shoulder following last night’s Raw live event in Wildwood, New Jersey, where he faced Sheamus in a Lumberjack Match with Nexus. He was therefore placed in a Six-Man Tag Team Match at today’s Raw live event in Newark, New Jersey so he could have a lighter workload.

The advertised main event was a Steel Cage Match between Orton and Sheamus, while John Cena was scheduled for a Six-Man Tag Team Match against Nexus. An angle was conducted at the beginning of the show where Sheamus attacked Cena and Nexus attacked Chris Jericho, leading Orton and Daniel Bryan to perform a run-in.

Orton sparingly wrestled during the match and did not perform the RKO. He did, however, strike Michael Tarver with a punt to the head in the aftermath of the bout.

Orton’s injury is not immediately being considered serious, but he will likely have it checked out tomorrow.

    — A brawl broke out amongst fans at today’s Raw live event in Newark, New Jersey over a T-shirt John Cena had thrown to the crowd just before his Steel Cage Match with Sheamus.

According to a fan who witnessed the incident, the melee lasted approximately 15 minutes before Prudential Center staff broken it up. The correspondent also noted that over 10 people were ejected from the arena and some children were hurt during the brawl.

    – WWE brought its NXT contestant total to five this week, officially eliminating Lucky Cannon from the show.

While Cannon’s elimination was reasonably expected, the NXT Poll was not entirely in line with predictions–Alex Riley, considered a frontrunner to at least make it to the final elimination, dropped to number five in the poll, falling behind even Husky Harris.

The poll results were as follows:

    1) Kaval
    2) Michael McGillicutty
    3) Percy Watson
    4) Husky Harris
    5) Alex Riley
    6) Lucky Cannon

Two wrestlers will be eliminated next week.

  • Reason For Orton Being Upset With The Miz During 7/26 Raw

    (source: www.pwtorch.com)

In a shades similar to past incidents with Kofi Kingston and Ken Anderson, Randy Orton was visibly upset with The Miz following his match against Jey Uso during the July 26 Raw.

After hitting the RKO on Sheamus, Miz entered the ring to tease cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase. “The Viper” then hit the RKO on Miz and was unable to hide his frustration. The word coming out of the show is that Orton felt Miz was positioned in a manner that indicated he was about to be hit with the signature maneuver.

Similarly, Orton angrily reacted during a bout with Kingston last January when the Ghanaian grappler messed up the timing of the finish. Orton was seen on-camera shouting “stupid,” among other obscenities, towards him. It is said that Kingston’s “main event” push at the time was single handedly derailed due to the incident. Likewise, Anderson’s untimely dismissal from World Wrestling Entertainment last year was largely attributed to Orton, as a result of the former Mr. Kennedy inadvertently dropping “The Viper” on his head with a back suplex. Orton later admitted to complaining to management about Anderson’s in-ring work, which was the primary reason for his release from the organization.

  • HBK Backstage At Last Raw Taping, Match Announced For Monday

    — Shawn Michaels noted today on his newly launched Twitter account that he was backstage at Monday’s Raw television taping, which took place in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. He said he watched the show backstage with “The Boss,” while his family sat ringside.

“It was great 2 C all the wwe cast & crew monday nite in SA. Momma & the kids watched from ringside & I sat w/the Boss in back,” Michaels wrote.

It was his first visit to a WWE show since retiring in March.

    — The official WWE website announced this evening that Randy Orton will square off against The Miz during Monday’s Raw broadcast.

    — Kevin Dunn, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Television Production, sold 29,787 shares of WWE stock for $479,975 on Jul. 21. He now owns 141,224 shares, which is approximately worth $2.3 million.

  • Orton Expects Ex-WWE Star To Return, Comments On Anderson

Since opening an account on Twitter last week, Randy Orton has made numerous comments of note. For starters, he was asked to give his thoughts on Bryan Danielson as a performer as well as his sudden firing from World Wrestling Entertainment.

“I understand why it happened. But he def deserves to be there, I’m sure he’ll b back,” Orton responded. “Very talented in my opinion.”

Orton also continues to bring up former WWE performer Ken Anderson’s name, whom he recently ranted about on a message board post in regards to claims concerning his dismissal from the company last year. He laughed at a fan noting he already had more Twitter followers than Anderson and threatened to send the former WWE star after an Orton poser if he didn’t shut down his account. However, it would appear that Orton has since had a change of heart in regards to the current TNA star as he now feels that last year’s incident was a misunderstanding.

In response to a question this morning asking if he would ever make peace with Anderson, he wrote, “I think what happened is a misunderstanding and at this point there is peace. Hell……we used to ride together.”

Finally, Orton revealed that he will have a new shirt out within thirty days.

    — Three weeks ago on Raw during the ceremony honoring Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Mike Rotunda told the WWE Hall of Famer that it was unfortunate that they never wrestled each other. “CeNation. I have told Randy about the overwhelming demand 4 him on Twitter. What he does now is up to him,” Cena posted this morning. Later that afternoon, Cena tweeted, “The Viper lurks. [Orton] is seriously considering joining very soon.”

    — Regarding the John Morrison vs. Ted DiBiase program, it is expected to be prolonged through at least September as tentative creative plans call for the two Raw Superstars to face off at Night of Champions.

  • Latest Update On HHH, Playboy Publishes Photos Of WWE Diva

    — It would appear that WWE officials did not want word of Triple H’s recent surgery to surface. Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Dirk Hayhurst, who broke the news of the WWE Superstar’s surgery on his Twitter account last Thursday, has since removed the posts.

It was later disclosed that Triple H underwent surgery to repair a torn muscle tendon in his arm, which will sideline him for several more months.

Playboy’s “Cyber Club” has published nude photographs of Maryse (under her real name, Maryse Ouellet). Furthermore, her image is being used to advertise the pictorial. However, it should be noted that the photos were taken several years ago ago, before she joined WWE. While WWE is not partnering with Playboy, the adult entertainment company owns the rights to the photos and thus able to publish and promote the photos at its discretion.

    — This week’s editon of the POWER 25 on WWE.com is headed by Randy Orton. He is trailed by WWE Champion Sheamus and John Cena. Meanwhile, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston ranks one spot ahead of World Champion Rey Mysterio at No. 4.

  • MITB Plans, RAW Guest Hosts Gimmick, Titus O’Neil

    – WWE creative is looking at having one of the two Money in the Bank winners cash their title shot by SummerSlam in August, reports f4wonline.com. This would be done so only one superstar would be carrying around a briefcase for the rest of the year.

    – On Friday’s SmackDown, 6 competitors will be announced for the World Heavyweight title Money in the Bank match. WWE’s website has confirmed that there will be eight participants in the match. The final two spots were planned for CM Punk and Drew McIntyre but Punk is injured and McIntyre can’t work due to his work visa expiring. No word yet on who will fill the two remaining spots.

    – WWE is reportedly losing interest in the whole RAW guest host concept. There’s been talk of only having one Guest Host per month or scrapping the gimmick entirely.

    – On Tuesday’s NXT show, Titus O’Neil was the first rookie to be eliminated from Season 2. Following the release, he wrote on Twitter:

“Just want to say to EVERYONE that Zack Ryder is one of the BEST people in the WWE & he is well worth following. I really respect him. He is a good man.”

  • WWE Star Retiring?, More WWE Stars Working Through Injuries

    — Goldust wrote a post Tuesday evening on Twitter saying he has retired.

“i am retired,” he wrote, adding, “byeeeeeeeee.”

Though it should be noted that in a previous tweet, he said he was very tired coming off the road and heading to the beach, so it’s likely he was joking.

The multi-time Intercontinental Champion has been largely relegated to Superstars since being drafted to Raw in April, having only competed once on WWE’s flagship program. He once again appeared on Superstars at Monday’s taping in Philadelphia, teaming up with Yoshi Tatsu to take on Zack Ryder and Primo.

    — In addition to Kelly Kelly, R-Truth and Cody Rhodes, both Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio were working through injuries this past week, reports F4WOnline.com.

In the case of Orton, he suffered a neck injury that prevented him from wrestling at Sunday’s live event in Wheeling, West Virginia. Meanwhile, Mysterio is dealing with a minor groin injury. Neither ailment is serious enough to keep the wrestlers from working through the pain.

    — Corresponding with storylines, the official WWE website announced Tuesday that Ricky Steamboat suffered cracked ribs, internal injuries and a sprained neck as a result of a clothesline by Skip Sheffield and a 450° splash by Justin Gabriel on Raw.

  • How Orton Dislocated His Shoulder, Possible Plans For Barrett

    (source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

    — Two days before Over the Limit, Randy Orton dislocated his right shoulder while attempting a dunk in pick-up basketball game in St. Louis. This explains why he was favoring the shoulder at the house show in Cincinnati the night before the pay-per-view event.

Orton’s had problems with the shoulder for years as it’s the third time in which it’s been dislocated. He plans to focus on physical therapy before deciding on whether to have surgery. An injury angle was done on Monday’s Raw where Edge hurt Orton’s shoulder to take him out of the evening’s main event. Hence, if he’s not healthy enough to compete at Fatal 4-Way, WWE will have a storyline explanation.

    — WWE has a few ideas in mind for Wade Barrett as there was talk of having the NXT winner team up with mentor Chris Jericho to go after the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship. There has also been talk of having Barrett face R-Truth or Kofi Kingston for their respective titles.

(sources: Pro Wrestling Torch, PWInsider.com, www.f4wonline.com)

    — John Morrison is currently nursing an ankle injury, thus explaining why he has not been featured on television as of late. It remains unknown the injury occurred, but he headed into the May 16 Raw live event in London, Ontario injured. That night, he worked a brief match with Vladimir Kozlov and was noticeably limping on his way to the backstage area. He was also favoring the ankle while signing autographs after the show.

There is no word yet on when he’ll return to action, but it doesn’t appear serious. He was backstage at Monday’s Raw taping and was said to be moving around well.

    – The tentative title for WWE’s planned DVD release on Randy Orton later this year is Randy Orton: The Viper Uncoiled.

    — It was Natalya’s birthday yesterday as she turned 28 years old.

  • Orton Says His Injury Isn’t Serious, Virgil To Be Written Out

(sources: Pro Wrestling Torch, Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

    — Randy Orton has told friends he doesn’t expect his shoulder injury to keep him out of action for long. While he initially feared the worst when he suffered the injury at Over The Limit, it appears he will be healed in time for next month’s Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view, which he is advertised for.

Though Orton appeared to suffer the injury during his match with Edge on Sunday, he entered the match hurt. He worked a tag match with John Cena against Batista and Sheamus the previous night and was nursing the arm late in the bout. It doesn’t appear a bump caused the injury as after making a tag to Cena, he immediately grabbed his arm and held it in pain for the remainder of match.

    — Ted DiBiase suffered a concussion very early in his match with R-Truth this past Sunday night at Over The Limit when Truth slapped him across the face and knocked him loopy. An audible was called due to the injury, as DiBiase was tabbed to blame Virgil for his loss, subsequently knocking him out with the Dream Street. It remains unclear at this time whether Santino Marella hitting Virgil with the Vulcan Neck Pinch in a comedy segment the following night on Raw constituted his character being written off, or if it will happen within the next few weeks.

Regarding DiBiase, he won’t be allowed to wrestle until medically cleared. He is expected to be kept out the ring for a few weeks so he can heal.

  • Randy Orton Injured: Update On His Seperated Shoulder

WWE RAW superstar Randy Orton is currently nursing a separated shoulder during following his match with Edge WWE’s Over The Limit pay-per-view.

At the show, there were a swarm of medics checking him out backstage immediately after his match with Edge. As Orton was pounding the mat teasing the RKO, he could be seen noticeably wincing in pain. The referee then motioned the “X” signal and both wrestlers went outside the ring. Edge continued the bout by kicking Orton, avoiding working over his upper torso. Edge then tried spearing Orton, but Orton moved out of the way and Edge crashed into the barricade. The bout was ruled a double count-out. Following the ruling, Jerry Lawler speculated that Orton had suffered a shoulder injury, given that Orton has a history of shoulder problems.

After Orton got to the backstage area at Over The Limit, he reportedly went ballistic and wrecked the trainer’s room.

Orton appeared on RAW the following night and qualified for the Fatal 4 Way match against John Cena, Edge and Sheamus when Batista refused to wrestle him.

UPDATE: WWE Champion John Cena spoke about Orton’s injury on Twitter:

“I do not know Randy Orton’s condition so I really don’t want to speak on his behalf although I do hope he is well,” Cena said. “I have said it time and time again about him, he is one of the best I’ve ever seen.”

Jim Ross also wrote the following on JRsBarBQ.com about the injury:

“Randy Orton’s apparent shoulder injury, I can’t be sure if it is a shoulder or the seriousness of the injury, really had a profound affect on the PPV. The Orton-Edge match ended as best it could by most standards. Orton, obvious and excruciating pain gutted it out to his credit. After this match the show seemed to valley somewhat until the final bout.

“If, big if, it is Randy’s shoulder, it won’t be the first time that RKO has suffered shoulder issues. Officials will know more Monday regarding Randy’s status. Hopefully this will be a deal where Orton’s off for only a brief period of time and won’t require any surgery to tighten up the shoulder. OU, now Minnesota Viking running back, Adrian Peterson had the same issues his freshman year at Oklahoma but surgery took care of his issues and he did not miss that much time…

“I sure hope that Randy Orton is going to be O.K. as losing him especially hurts. Randy hit me with a text late Sunday night and he’s not even sure what the verdict will be until tomorrow. Raw is going to be an especially compelling, two hours of live TV Monday night.”

UPDATE 2: Randy Orton’s Shoulder Injured Before Over The Limit? (Video)

  • Randy Orton’s Shoulder Injured Before Over The Limit? (Video)

    – There’s a lot of speculation that Randy Orton’s shoulder injury actually took place prior to Sunday’s Over The Limit pay-per-view, but kept the injury under wraps hoping it would heal without him missing any ring time. Orton was seen favoring his arm backstage after his match at Saturday night’s live event in Cincinnati. As you can see in the following video taken the night before Over The Limit, Orton is seen clutching his arm at the conclusion of the match:

After further aggravating the shoulder at Over The Limit, Orton went ballistic backstage and wrecked the trainer’s room, according to f4wonline.com.

    – As seen last Friday on SmackDown, Dolph Ziggler attacked Christian from behind on the “Peep Show,” green-lighting a program between the two. Internally, the program is being seen as a demotion for Christian, but a promotion for Ziggler. Furthermore, advertised house show line-ups have Christian teaming up with Hornswoggle to take on Ziggler and Chavo Guerrero.

    – The May 14 edition of Friday Night Smackdown scored a 1.7 rating with 2.746 million viewers. The main event featured Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk.
