WWE had hyped that Edge vs. Randy Orton in a singles bout would be the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. Despite the hype, it was hard to live up to those expectations.
The match between the two former WWE Champions took place at the WWE Backlash pay-per-view event. WWE did a cool thing when they had the old school MSG microphone repel down with the voice of the late great Howard Finkel doing the ring announcing.
There was piped in fan noise for the audio track. It was a slow-starting match that continuously intensified.
Orton was busted open just above his eyebrow after getting headbutted. Towards the end of the match, they hit some signature moves in addition to the Pedigree and Rock Bottom. Orton connected with a punt kick for the win.
Orton lost to Edge in a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36. Many considered this to be the end of their feud that had started the night after Royal Rumble, but WWE had different plans.
WWE restarted this feud on the May 11th episode of RAW when Orton issued a challenge to Edge to a wrestling match.
Things got interesting when WWE had Charly Caruso state that if it did happen it could be the greatest match of all-time. Clearly, the match was booked despite the tease of the tagline.
Edge later accepted the challenge and the two had been trading words on the weekly television show ever since then.
Randy Orton will face Edge tonight in what is being billed as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.” Orton took part in an interview with CBS Sports recently and spoke about both his upcoming bout with Edge and the one they had at WrestleMania this year.
“At WrestleMania, I think we stole the show. At WrestleMania, I think we had the best story going into it, which definitely helped,” Orton said.
“Now, at Backlash, are we doing to have ‘the greatest wrestling match ever?’ Eh. That’s subjective. I kind of painted myself into a corner and the pressure is definitely on, but if anybody is capable of it, it’s myself and Edge.”
Orton also spoke about the criticism some had regarding the length of his match with Edge at WrestleMania.
“You ever read a book in 3 minutes? Watch a sitcom or a movie that lasts 3, 4, 5 minutes? No. It takes time. For the fans that want to sit down, grab a bowl of popcorn and get ready for some seriously good f—ing wrestling? I’ll see you at Backlash. For the ones that want to go see a 3-minute match with five of the same moves back-to-back-to-back-to-back? Don’t tune in.”
The full interview with Randy Orton can be read here.
It’s a long-standing tradition in wrestling for younger stars to ask permission from a veteran if they want to use any of their signature moves and Randy Orton recently revealed the story of one such interaction with a former NXT star.
The former World Champion was the guest on the latest episode of After The Bell podcast and the company recently posted a clip of his interview on YouTube.
In the clip, Orton recalled a recent trip to WWE Performance Center. He revealed how Austin Theory came to him seeking permission to use a move similar to RKO and explained that he was taken aback by this gesture:
“I was down in the PC and Austin Theory comes up to me to shake my hand. I could tell he was new, he was young and he was trying to not say the wrong thing. But he asked me, he goes, ‘Hey I want to start doing this move and it ends up in a similar position, kind of like a cutter.’
I was so taken aback that this kid took the time and had the respect and the wherewithal to ask me if it was OK with me for him to do that.” said Orton “Before I could even think about what the right answer should be, I said, ‘Yes! Oh my god! Are you kidding me?’ He came to me and he asked me. I don’t know if that’s ever happened,”
Austin Theory has since been called up to the main roster and he recently joined Seth Rollins’ faction after being kicked out of the team of Andrade and Angel Garza.
Randy Orton is currently scheduled to face Edge in a one on one match at Backlash and he is not ruling out the possibility of a match with Tommaso Ciampa afterwards.
Randy Orton has been a top of the class performer for WWE for almost two decades and he does not plan on stepping away from the ring anytime soon.
The Viper recently took part in a media call to promote the Backlash PPV during which he talked about his twitter feud with Tommaso Ciampa among other things.
Discussing the highly physical wrestling style of NXT stars, Orton said that it worries him because they wear and tear your career. Randy then went on to explain that he plans to continue wrestling for at least another decade:
“I’ve been doing this 20 years and I’ll do it another decade. I just turned 40 and my plan is to just keep going until my 50th birthday and I think I would be able to do that and I would be able to support my family for 30 years of wrestling under Vince McMahon because of the way I tell stories in the ring.”
The former World Champion went on to explain that the NXT stars should try to work smarter and improve on their ability to tell a story in the ring because wrestling is a business and they need to make money doing it to pay their bills.
Randy Orton is currently scheduled to face Edge in the ‘Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ at the Backlash PPV from Performance Center this Sunday night.
There have been a lot of speculation about a potential match between Randy Orton and Tommaso Ciampa after the two got into a heated twitter exchange recently.
The Viper took part in a conference call to promote the upcoming Backlash PPV and during the interview; he also talked about a potential match with the former NXT Champion.
Orton said that he would be open to wrestling Ciampa if that’s what Mr McMahon wants him to do before claiming that there are a few things he can help the NXT star with:
“Yeah, as I was saying earlier, whatever Vince gives me to do, whatever my job is in that particular situation, I’m gonna do it.
If it’s working with a Tommaso Ciampa, then I’d be all for it, because I think he’s very talented and I think that theres a few things that I can help him with.”
Randy then mentioned how the former DIY member has been plagued with injuries in his career. The legend killer said that he would like to help Tommaso get a little bit out of his character and slow things down:
“What I worry about Ciampa in particular, is that with all these big injuries he’s had, and we’ve all had injuries, we’ve all worked hurt, we’ve all woke up stiff after a big fight,
But he needs to learn how to tell stories and slow it down and not think that the fans want to see him kill himself.”
Randy Orton will be facing Edge at Sunday’s Backlash PPV from the Performance Center and WWE has been dubbing this match as the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.”
The recent twitter feud between the former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and Randy Orton have given fans hope of seeing a match between these two in near future.
However, the latest reports on the matter suggest that this dream match is not going to take place in the foreseeable future as it’s not in the cards right now.
Bryan Alvarez discussed the exchange between Orton and Ciampa on Wrestling Observer Live and he reported that the tweets were not setting up a match between the two.
The exchange could be a shoot or something the two stars organised themselves but it was not set up by the company and they are not part of any creative plans.
This does not necessarily mean that Tommaso Ciampa is not headed to the main roster but the tweets between the two WWE stars are not an indication of the things to come.
Randy Orton is currently scheduled to face Edge in a match at Backlash and there is no news on if the company is planning to continue this feud after the upcoming PPV.
On the other hand, Ciampa lost to Karrion Kross in a short match at NXT Takeover: In Your House PPV this past Sunday night and there have been rumors about a possible main roster call up for him after this bout.
Tommaso Ciampa and Randy Orton had an interesting Twitter exchange in the fallout of last night’s NXT In Your House event. Orton took to Twitter and gave what could be interpreted as a sarcastic complement to last night’s show.
“Heard #WWENXT#TakeoverInYourHouse was great! Slappin my leg for you guys. Sincerely #legslap,” Orton Tweeted.
A wrestler slapping their leg to make a striking move sound good is sometimes looked down upon amongst some wrestlers.
Former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa offered a reply to Orton’s comments.
“My daughter has been having trouble sleeping. Luckily I found a remedy. Randy Orton matches. Better than NyQuil. Sincerely #AnEntireLockerRoomWhoBustedTheirAsses,” Ciampa Tweeted in reply.
Orton fired back with another dig at Ciampa and the NXT brand:
Looks like I hurt the feelings of the self appointed lockeroom leader of a wrestling school. Let me know what time #legslap class starts so I can take my game to the next level. https://t.co/c2ECCKL44f
Randy Orton will take on Edge at Backlash on Sunday. The match is being billed as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.” According to comments Edge recently made to ESPN, he was surprised by the way the match is being billed.
“I just laughed because I didn’t think it was serious,” Edge said. “Then I realized fairly quickly it was. Then my reaction was, is this wise, because anytime you say something the greatest ever beforehand, you’re setting yourself up for failure. And I don’t ever want to think that way. I need to think the opposite of that, I can’t control the court of public opinion. I need to do and be proud of the work that I put in.”
Edge vs Randy Orton at Backlash this weekend is being billed as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.” This has led lots of wrestling fans to wonder what exactly WWE has planned for Backlash. Edge was recently interviewed by ESPN and said that when he first heard his match with Orton being billed that way, he didn’t think it was serious.
“All I can do is take it as if this is all just a bonus and in a weird way, a compliment. Or it’s a giant rib. I don’t know.”
Edge continued to say that he would have preferred the match not be billed in such a way.
“Would I have preferred they not billed it as that? Absolutely. But I also know there are times where heels get dug in the sand and there’s no changing it.”
Edge and Orton met at WrestleMania in a Last Man Standing match that went all over the WWE Performance Center. For Backlash, however, Orton challenged Edge to a traditional wrestling match.
FTR, the former Revival, made an appearance on Jim Cornette’s podcast where they spoke about their time in WWE.
During the interview, they recalled how Randy Orton was not only a good friend but an even better top star to them as he would go and pitch to work with the former WWE Tag Team Champions on television.
“With Randy, who has become one of our mentors and one of our really close friends, we talked to him every single day. He fought for us so hard to get us on TV with him every single week because he believed in our work ethic and he believed in what we brought to the table.
We watched him go to Vince every single week, or Hunter or whoever, and say, ‘we gotta keep this up’.”
It was added that there were other WWE stars in addition to Orton who pitched McMahon about working with them. If an idea go through then they would do it for a few weeks then have it taken away without putting any juice on it.
The Usos, Roman Reigns, and Shane McMahon were mentioned as guys who wanted to work with them and went to management about working together.
A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Backlash PPV and it’s Edge vs. Randy Orton.
Two weeks ago when WWE aired a video package hyping the returns of the WWE Hall of Famer and former WWE Champion for last week’s show, there was speculation as to whether this was a typo. It turns out that it wasn’t.
Instead, WWE is moving forward with their feud. Of course, Orton lost to Edge in a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36 last month. Many considered this to be the end of their feud that had started the night after Royal Rumble when Orton attacked Edge.
Last week’s show ended with Orton issuing a challenge to Edge to a wrestling match at Backlash. It ended with Edge not giving an answer and Charly Caruso stating that if it did happen it could be the greatest match of all-time.
Monday’s episode of RAW opened with Orton demanding an answer, which brought out Edge to accept the challenge and make the contest official.
WWE presents the Backlash pay-per-view event on Sunday, June 14, 2020 in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center that will air on the WWE Network.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has praised Edge and Randy Orton’s recent segment on Monday Night RAW. Bully Ray called their promo work “phenomenal” during a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio.
Bully Ray stated how their mic work on RAW was “the best I’ve seen from the both of them, and Edge had no mic work, and that’s so great.” He explained how, without saying a word, he was able to see Edge’s emotions clearly and “felt the self-doubt in Edge’s heart.”
“[…] when Randy brought up the word ‘wrestling,’ it looked like it struck fear in Edge,” Bully Ray said. “Because a wrestler who’s been retired for nine or ten years knows ‘I can get by in a Last Man Standing Match, but damn, a wrestling match? Can I legitimately go move for move with Randy Orton? No man, I don’t think I can do it.’ That’s what you got from Edge last night: self-doubt.”
Randy Orton challenged Edge to a wrestling match at WWE’s next pay-per-view, Backlash. The two previously clashed at WrestleMania 36 in a Last Man Standing Match. After a grueling clash, Edge would eventually beat his former Rated RKO tag team partner. It was his first singles matchup since returning from a career-ending injury, which forced him to retire back in 2011.
It appears that WWE is loading up next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, which will serve as the post-Money in the Bank edition.
First up is a commercial that aired during Monday’s show that got fans talking, which was that Randy Orton and WWE Hall of Famer Edge would be returning. The ad noted that Edge would be hunting Orton before asking if the hunter will become the hunted.
Edge beat Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36 in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center on the WWE Network last month. This marked Edge’s first singles match since he retired.
It should be noted that this type of commercial aired during WrestleMania season to further hype their program. There is some speculation that the promo was an error on the part of the USA Network as WWE didn’t tweet out the promo. If so, that’s very unusual.
What is confirmed is that RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will be appearing on next week’s RAW to confront the winner of the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
Shayna Baszler, Asuka, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, and Carmella are the participants in the match. The men’s and women’s ladder matches will be taking place simultaneously.
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair believes that Randy Orton is the “number one guy” in WWE right now. Speaking with talkSPORT, “The Nature Boy” addressed Orton’s work and his recent feud with returning Superstar Edge.
Flair explained how nobody is a bigger fan of Orton than he is. He pointed to Orton’s recent rivalry with Edge as some of the best work he’s ever done. Flair then pointed out how long Orton has been a part of WWE, adding how “every time he says something, it’s the truth.”
According to Flair, Orton’s level of ability and his current health has helped him reach the top of his game. This, in his opinion, makes Orton the number one guy in the company.
Ric Flair Thinks Charlotte Is The “Female Orton”
Having expressed his high opinion of Orton, Ric Flair then juxtaposed Orton’s ability to his daughter, Charlotte Flair. He admitted that, although people may consider him biased, he believes Charlotte to the be “female Orton.”
“Younger, less time in the business, but she’s picked it up. The art of being able to make somebody look good and make the match the priority rather than what you are capable of doing or not doing is what separates the good from the great. She’s been in that conversation as the greatest ever since, I think, [WrestleMania 32].”
Ric Flair argued that this conversation point is strengthened with every subsequent match she has. He revealed how Charlotte was excited for her WrestleMania 36 bout with Rhea Ripley. He noted how she didn’t “look at it as a step-down.” Instead, she viewed it as an opportunity to wrestle an up-and-coming, talented Superstar.
There was a questionable spot during the Edge vs. Randy Orton Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36 that many found disturbing.
The match featured Edge and Orton doing battle all over the WWE Performance Center. Once the fight hit the gym, Randy Orton used a weight cable to choke Edge, reminiscent the method Chris Benoit used to killed himself back in 2007. There was immediate criticism for the incident on social media.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, some people in WWE were troubled by the visual. Everybody is WWE familiar with the details of the Chris Benoit situation. Especially with Benoit back in the headlines from the excellent Dark Side of the Ring episode covering the murders, many people made the connection and it was seen as a ‘questionable’ decision at best.
Aside from the criticism the match received for the choking spot, its duration was also criticized. The 40-minute Edge vs. Orton match is now the second-longest bout in WrestleMania history, right behind Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart from WrestleMania 12, which was an Iron Man match that lasted over an hour.
Edge eventually defeated Orton in their match with a conchairto. Orton was unable to answer the 10 count after Edge crushed his skull with a steel chair. It was “The Rated-R Superstar’s” first singles match in nine years.
Edge Comments On His Return At WrestleMania, Praises Randy Orton
After months of building, Edge vs. Randy Orton took place.
It happened at the WWE WrestleMania 36 pay-per-view event in Orlando, Florida in a Last Man Standing Match that saw the WWE Hall of Famer go over.
The two stars fought all over the training facility. From the backstage area to the weight room. Orton at one point hit a DDT on the back of a truck. Edge jumped off a structure to send Orton through a table after hitting an elbow drop.
At one point, they climbed up onto an equipment truck where Edge hit a spear. Moments later, Orton hit an RKO on top of the truck. The finish saw Edge place a chair pinned under Orton’s head and then smashing it with another chair. The match went for nearly 40 minutes.
The Edge vs. Randy Orton feud kicked off when Edge competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match from the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas back in January. He entered at #21 and made it to the final three but was eliminated after nearly 25-minutes.
The following night on Monday Night RAW, the former WWE Champion was attacked by Orton. This led to Edge being off TV for several weeks after receiving the beatdown.
What are your thoughts on Edge going over Randy Orton? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.
WWE Hall of Famer and co-host of the Hall of Fame podcast Booker T recently commented on the upcoming WrestleMania 36 bout between Edge and Randy Orton. With the unique nature of this year’s ‘Mania, Booker T believes that a ‘theatrical’ element to the match will be able to push it beyond the confines of standard wrestling fare.
Booker T on Edge vs Randy Orton
“This is a moment man, this is a moment that these guys can actually be able to go out here and really tap into their creativeness” Booker T began. “Looking at guys like Edge, he’s perfect for this moment, because he’s a guy who not only loves the wrestling business; but as soon as he got out to the wrestling business he went right into acting.”
“I like the analogy, it [WWE] is Rocky, it is Shakespeare, it is Romeo and Juliet.”
Booker T
Booker T would elaborate further, discussing Triple H’s recent comments that WWE is more “like the Rocky movie and not boxing.” “I like the analogy, it [WWE] is Rocky, it is Shakespeare, it is Romeo and Juliet. It seemed like these guys have said ‘hey man, we’re gonna be in this [coronavirus] state for a while, why don’t you let us be creative? You don’t write anything for us. and just let us go out here and talk about it. Let us feel it?’ It actually looks that way to be. When I watched The Undertaker go out and cut a promo? That was as real as I’ve ever seen The Undertaker.”
Final Hype for Edge vs Orton
Booker T would finish by discussing the history between Edge and Orton. “And now [for Randy] to go out and dance with Edge? A guy who he’s got history with? These guys know each other very very well and respect each other, a whole lot. And now they’re gonna get a chance to go out and you know create magic for the world, in front of an empty arena. Mano a mano and now it’s going to be, you know, a fight that we got to create like we never have before, just because of the circumstances that we’re in. We’re really gonna get a chance to see Shakespeare.”
Edge vs Randy Orton will be taking place this weekend at WrestleMania 36. The show will be available to purchase on PPV, FITE TV as well as the WWE Network.

After several weeks of speculation, WWE has indeed confirmed Edge vs. Randy Orton for WrestleMania 36. The company did so on Monday’s episode of RAW as Orton accepted Edge’s challenge to a match at the biggest event of the year.
This came after Edge addressed Orton’s attack on him and his wife on RAW last week. Edge’s challenge to the former fellow WWE Champion was a Last Man Standing Match.
A few weeks ago on RAW saw Orton attack Edge’s wife and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix in the final segment of the show.
This match was expected as Edge has been off TV for several weeks after receiving the beatdown by Randy Orton after making his return to the ring in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match.
WWE presents the WrestleMania 36 pay-per-view event as a two-night event on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5 in Orlando, Florida.

WWE Superstar Randy Orton is preparing to face off against his former-Rated RKO tag team partner Edge at WrestleMania 36. Fans may not know it, however, looking at the recent posters advertising the event.
WrestleMania 36 will now take place across two nights. WWE shared an image to their social media, hyping the news. Newly announced Host of WrestleMania, Rob Gronkowski, is presented front and center. Randy Orton, however, is missing. Other Superstars featured include John Cena, Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre. RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and the WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar are also present.
Taking to his Instagram account, Orton shared his thoughts on being overlooked, writing: “Well ain’t that some bullshit. #letmecounttheways”
This past week on Monday Night RAW, Edge challenged Randy Orton to a Last Man Standing matchup. Despite being planned to continue without an audience, the two are expected to clash on the “Grandest Stage of them All.”
Originally meant to emanate from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, WrestleMania 36 will now take place across April 4 and April 5 from multiple locations. The WWE Performance Center has already been confirmed as being one of the sites.
This decision was made due to the current coronavirus pandemic, which has affected events, conventions and sports worldwide.
WWE Hall of Famer and co-host of Busted Open Radio Mark Henry recently discussed the ongoing feud between RAW Superstar Randy Orton and Edge. Henry has previously praised Orton specifically for ‘carrying’ the feud singlehandedly whilst Edge is off of television ‘recovering’ from the chair shot he took on January 27th.
Mark Henry on Randy Orton
“I’m gonna read something right now, I get a text yesterday” Henry began on the SiriusXM show. “‘Hey, man, I watched [WWE] Backstage, and I heard the kind words that you said about me. That sincerely means a lot my man.’ And that was from Randy. Randy Orton respects the fact that we [the performers] honor him. That we hold him at a high regard and justifiably so, he deserves it.”
“Arguably The Best Heel In The Industry”
Henry would also call Orton arguably the best ‘heel’ in the wrestling industry right now. “He’s arguably the best heel in pro wrestling today” Henry stated. “Work wise, promo wise, career wise. There’s nobody else on the planet that’s living up to Randy Orton’s excellence. Randy listens to this [Busted Open] show, and every time it’s not because it is about him per se. It’s about the fact that he lifts up the business. He cares about the business of pro wrestling, just like you and I. You’re the superfan. I was the superfan that became a wrestler. That actually got to come back in the media and relay that message. And I feel like I’m the voice of the wrestler that gets to respond to the fans. And I’m letting all y’all know that Randy Orton is relishing being the guy that he is today.”
“I’m looking so forward to next week that I just can’t even…”
Mark Henry would finish by saying that he holds Randy Orton in high regard. He also made it clear that he holds RAW above SmackDown in terms of quality television right now. “It’s much appreciated as a fan of pro wrestling. And as a former wrestler? I hold Randy at a high regard. And it’s going to continue to be that way. I’m looking so forward to next week that I just can’t even…I know I’m shouldn’t be pushing past Friday. I shouldn’t be pushing past Smackdown, I shouldn’t be pushing past the pay per view Elimination Chamber. But I’m so ready for Monday.”
You can listen to Busted Open Radio via SiriusXM. The podcast version is available via Apple Podcasts, Stitcher and PlayerFM.

Edge returned to WWE at Royal Rumble which was no one saw coming. After the Royal Rumble, Edge made his return after being nine years away from it.
But it was not all celebrations as Randy Orton brutally assaulted Edge on Raw a few weeks ago with a chair shot to the neck.
According to a report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning to have a match between Randy Orton and Edge at WrestleMania 35, and it will have a stipulation added to it.
Adding a stipulation to such an important match will make the match stand out more from the bunch of other matches on the WrestleMania card.
A traditional match would require Edge to take a lot of bumps, so maybe it’s WWE’s way of dealing with the situation by adding a stipulation that lets Edge work a longer match without risking his body too much.
Edge’s last match at WrestleMania XXVII was against Alberto Del Rio, where he successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship.
At WrestleMania 36, Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre. The Universal Championship will also be on the line with new champ Goldberg defending it against Roman Reigns.
Charlotte Flair will try to take on the NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, while The Fiend will go one-on-one against John Cena. Becky Lynch will defend the Raw Women’s Championship against whoever wins the women’s Elimination Chamber. It could be any one of these women: Asuka, Shayna Baszler, Ruby Riott, Natalya, Liv Morgan, or Sarah Logan.
WrestleMania 36 will emanate from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on April 5, 2020.
Randy Orton seemed conflicted on RAW this Monday when he apologized to and then attacked Matt Hardy. He sent out a Twitter message to Matt Riddle recently which seemed to be just as conflicted.
Orton sent out the following to his followers on Twitter recently:
I woke up at the crack of noon today and saw this, and I all I could think was “Randy is the Coolest! Also don’t smash my head with a chair bro” #viper#bro#stallionhttps://t.co/tfMV3L6kZX
Matt Riddle also put out what he is referring to as an official statement regarding Johnny Gargano’s actions from TakeOver: Portland. Gargano turned on Tommaso Ciampa in the main event, costing Ciampa the title in his match against Adam Cole.
Caught up in the celeBROtory festivities in Portland, forgot to comment on @JohnnyGargano’s actions at #NXTTakeOver.
Riddle and Pete Dunne are currently celebrating winning the NXT Tag Team Championships from Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. Riddle and Dunne are the 17th team to win the NXT tag team championships. They enter the title’s 20th reign in its lineage.
Kyle O’Reilly wrote the following about Undisputed Era dropping championships lately:
So what if we lost some gold, just means we gotta be the first 4X tag champs and 2X NA champ. Having a group of friends like this is worth its weight in gold anyways, and with the 4 of us here that’s AT LEAST 300 lbs of gold. https://t.co/khEisKrifA
Triple H recently addressed Matt Riddle’s possible heat with Vince McMahon at a press event for TakeOver: Portland.
“To be honest with you, I haven’t asked anybody about it. Vince didn’t express his disapproval of anything that was said, and I’m sure if there were an issue, he would’ve called me directly. He’s not shy about that.”
It appears that Randy Orton possibly suffered an injury while working a match at a WWE house show this weekend.
WWE held a live event on Sunday night in Hershey, PA at the Giant Center that saw the former WWE Champion face AJ Styles in a singles match.
The match was stopped after he landed awkwardly after trying to hit the RKO. The potential injury was so severe that the contest was ended and doctors immediately ran down to the ring once the referee threw up the dreaded X-sign to notify the medical team that Orton needed help.
Randy Orton Possibly Injured
As a result, the contest was stopped and Orton was helped back to the backstage arena. Fans in attendance noted that it appeared that Orton suffered a knee injury. As of this writing, there’s no confirmation on the injury. It’s likely to be confirmed on Monday as to what type of injury he suffered.
Obviously, with WrestleMania season right around the corner, this isn’t a good time to get injured.
Orton, who has been a top WWE star for over a decade now, would’ve been a key part in programs leading into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event next month and WrestleMania 36 come this April.
Over the past few weeks, Orton has been featured in a program with Styles on WWE television.
In fact, WWE had originally booked Styles vs. Orton in a singles match at the WWE TLC pay-per-view event in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center on the WWE Network earlier this month.
However, WWE officials felt it was the right decision to hold off the contest until the next night on Monday Night RAW on the USA Network as a way to help boost television ratings.
Minutes into his match against AJ Styles, Randy Orton is injured and can’t finish. He is now being helped to the back #WWEHersheypic.twitter.com/Lr2It5ArRQ
The former WWE Champion responded to that tweet with, “Legos>thumb tacks. The things #topguys do to get #over @DashWilderWWE @ScottDawsonWWE.”
Dawson commented on Orton’s post by writing, “We’re strugglin’ without ya #Help#FTRKO.”
Scott Dawson’s original tweet was referring to their loss to Heavy Machinery in a Street Fight on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center on FOX.
Pitched Group
Back in November, it was reported that Orton approached WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon to personally pitch for a stable between himself and The Revival.
However, the WWE boss turned down the pitch. Not only that but he split them up and kept The Revival on SmackDown while Orton was sent to RAW.
Now, it’s being reported this week that The Revival will become a spoof of a famous 80s tag-team, The Fabulous Ones, on WWE programming.
On the flip side, Orton has entered into a feud with former WWE United States Champion AJ Styles on RAW. In fact, WWE has already confirmed that The OC (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson) vs Randy Orton and The Viking Raiders will take place on Monday Night RAW this week.
This six-man tag team match was taped last Monday in Des Moines, IA at the Wells Fargo Arena.
WWE Superstar Randy Orton has shared his thoughts on the announcement that his former Evolution stablemate Batista is joining the WWE Hall of Fame.
Speaking with WWE.com, Orton shared that he felt it was “great news” when he found out. “The Viper” then reflected on the long history he shares with Batista going back to their time in WWE developmental.
“Dave deserves it. I’ve known him for 20 years; he was the first guy I ever ran into when I reported down to Louisville, Kentucky for developmental back when I was 19 years old,” Orton said. “I remember seeing this 350-pound, jacked-up man and just was thinking to myself ‘What have I got myself into?’”
