As previously reported, WWE NXT Diva Raquel Diaz (aka Shaul Guerrero) was released from WWE earlier this week. Because she was just recently paired up with Baron Corbin as part of a gimmick makeover, it’s being said that there were no definitive plans to release her from the company. Basically, her release was likely an impulse move made by the company.
It’s worth noting that Diaz had a reputation of not taking training seriously and was also someone who would consistently request time off. Additionally, she actually quit the company during her initial run, but eventually opted to make a return.
As of right now there is no word as to whether or not Corbin will continue to work under his new biker persona, a gimmick that Diaz was originally planned to be a part of.
As previously reported, WWE released five NXT talents earlier this week. Those five talents were Mason Ryan, Raquel Diaz (aka Shaul Guerrero), Shara, Danny Burch and Oliver Grey.
According to one source, several other WWE developmental talents are concerned about the possibility of being released. There have been rumors of additional releases within the developmental system, although nothing has been confirmed and no specific names are rumored at this point in time.
As previously reported, WWE released five NXT talents earlier this week. Those five talents were Mason Ryan, Raquel Diaz (aka Shaul Guerrero), Shara, Danny Burch and Oliver Grey. Of those five, two have made public comments about their release.
Danny Burch tweeted the following:
Had a great 2 years. Here's to the next chapter of Martin Sone/Danny Burch
WWE has released Danny Burch, Oliver Grey, Mason Ryan, Shara and Raquel Diaz (aka Shaul Guerrero) from their developmental system.
The majority of those talents were European wrestlers, while Diaz is the daughter of Eddie Guerrero and Vickie Guerrero, and at one point was featured prominently on the NXT roster.
NXT star Baron Corbin is apparently getting his character repackaged and is now being managed by Raquel Diaz, who used to perform under the name Shaul Guerrero.
The two recently did a photo shoot together where Baron is on a motorcycle. Both of them tweeted photos, which you can check out below.
WWE posted the following videos on their official YouTube channel for Women’s History Month with NXT Divas Paige, Eden, Devin Taylor, Raquel Diaz and Sara Amato.
Former WWE Superstar Chavo Guerrero appeared on AfterBuzz TV earlier this week. The following are some highlights from his appearance:
On Batista’s return at RAW: “If you guys know Dave, he’s got some massive legs. Maybe the [jeans he wore on RAW] weren’t skinny skinny jeans. Maybe they were normal jeans, but they look skinny on him…[Batista] looks like he’s shrink wrapped. I mean he’s so thin. The guy is in crazy shape… He’s like a genetic freak. He really is. You could work out as much as you want and never look like him. I mean, I don’t [look like him] and I work out a lot.”
On a memory he has about John Cena: “One time, and this is a true story, we were in South Africa and [Cena] started battle rapping. He started rapping with someone and it was awesome. He went five minutes just talking about things around the room. And we were like, ‘Oh my gosh. Where did that come from?’ Tommy Dreamer heard it and Tommy took it to Shane McMahon and Shane McMahon heard it and took it to Vince McMahon and next thing you know he’s a rapper on TV…and he had already been with us six months or so. Slowly but surely he just became John Cena the superstar.”
On Eddie Guerrero: “[Eddie] was told he was a great performer, was always really really good. But he was told, ‘You’re a cruiserweight. You’ll always be a cruiserweight.’ And then when he left and got clean and sober and then came back, the fans just related with him so much and it was undeniable. They had to use him. They had to push him and he became who he was…When he passed, I would be walking in the airport and people would stop and look at me and hug me. They would give me a hug. I remember a TSA agent one time looked at my ID, looked up and looked at me. He didn’t say anything he just grabbed me and hugged me.”
On Eddie’s daughter, Raquel Diaz in NXT: “It’s really cool to see her follow the footsteps of the family…I have given advice and I’m always here for her. I don’t want to coddle her because she needs to do it. But she could call me any day and time and place and I’d be there for her. I just want to see her succeed. She’s got that Guerrero blood in her and people tell me that she’s really, really good.”
Raquel Diaz, the daughter of Vickie Guerrero and the late Eddie Guerrero, resurfaced at Thursday’s WWE NXT live event in Tampa, Florida, according to Diva-Dirt.com. It is her first appearance for the developmental league since last year.
In September 2012, it was reported that Diaz, whose real name is Shaul Guerrero, had requested and was granted a release from her developmental contract—she later confirmed her departure on Twitter. Last month, Vickie Guerrero revealed on the social network that her daughter was moving back to Orlando, Florida to report to the WWE Performance Center. Diaz subsequently reactivated her character’s account on Twitter and stated that she was “back.”
Leah Van Damme and Devin Taylor also appeared on the show. Van Damme, a former Los Angeles Lakers and New England Patriots cheerleader who reported to the WWE Performance Center last month, participated in a T-Shirt giveaway with other NXT Divas. Taylor, a former model and freelance television reporter, had been sidelined since suffering a dislocated knee in July; she shared ring announcing duties with Becky Lynch.
In a trivia note, Van Damme is the daughter of former professional wrestler Paul Vandale, who sporadically appeared as a preliminary wrestler for the World Wrestling Federation from the late 1980s through the mid-1990s (coinciding with enhancement talent being phased out due to the promotion’s battle with World Championship Wrestling). According to ProFightDB.com, he did job duty in matches against Owen Hart, Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Mr. Perfect, Razor Ramon, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Big Bossman, among others. Van Damme noted on her Twitter account recently that her dad faced Razor Ramon in his first television match for the WWF. The official YouTube account of WWE posted footage of that encounter on Friday, which can be viewed here.
-WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley recently posted a blog on his official Facebook page where he shared his thoughts on the Goldust vs. Randy Orton match from Monday’s Night Of Champions “go-home” edition of WWE RAW in Toronto.

“Like many of you, I have found myself completely caught up in the trials and tribulations of the Rhodes family. From Cody’s heartfelt exit from WWE, to older brother Dustin’s ability to turn back the hands of time to participate in an outstanding, emotional match with Randy Orton, to the bitter disappointment displayed with his agonizingly painful post-match walk down the hallway: this Rhodes family saga has quickly catapulted from mid-card curiosity to must-see real life drama. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this scenario so captivating.”
-As noted previously, the daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero, Shaul Guerrero, is training at the WWE Performance Center for a return to the ring. Shaul recently brought back her old Raquel Diaz character to NXT and Twitter.
