AEW President Tony Khan recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio. Khan discussed a number of topics on the show ahead of this Sunday’s AEW Revolution PPV, including the ‘surprise Hall of Fame worthy talent’ that will be signing with AEW on Sunday.

“It’s one of my all-time favorite wrestlers” Tony Khan stated on the show. “I’m very excited about [it]. I’ll say one thing, it’s one of my all-time favorite wrestlers. I tipped this on Unrestricted, I tipped the gender — it’s a male. He’s coming.”

“He’s going to do great things for us” Khan continued. “He’s committed, he’s going to sign a contract on Sunday at Revolution on PPV.”

There of course have been rumors flying from all corners online. Two names that have been mentioned on multiple occasions are Kurt Angle and CM Punk. The Straight Edge former WWE Superstar Punk confirmed recently via Twitter that he was not the star showing up on Sunday.

Jon Moxley Explains Why He & Kenny Omega Are The Best In The World

Jon Moxley challenges AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in an exploding barbwire death match this Sunday at AEW Revolution.

Moxley spoke to Steven Muehlhaisen for DAZN this week about his chemistry with Omega, the high stakes of Sunday’s match and more.

Many people regard him and Omega as two of the best pro wrestlers in the world. Moxley said he agrees with that sentiment, but wrestling is not exactly like pro sports, where one championship game (or series) determines the best in the world.

“In wrestling, that’s not necessarily the case. It’s different,” said Moxley. “You can be one of the best. The most important thing is how do you say who’s better: Shawn Michaels or Ric Flair? You can’t pick. If your favorite wrestler growing up when you were a kid was Big Van Vader or Ahmed Johnson, then they’re the best wrestler in the world to you. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter who drew more money or who had people think had better matches. The most important thing is you just got to be the best you.”

Jon Moxley & Kenny Omega

Moxley said that he and Kenny Omega are being the best versions of themselves in AEW. They’re not being held back. They’re not being overproduced. AEW allows them to ply their craft and executive their visions.

“You’re getting the best version of Kenny Omega, the best version of Jon Moxley on a weekly basis on Dynamit,” he continued..” I don’t think anybody’s doing it at a higher level than me and Kenny are right now. We’re both in our prime, both at our peak, both just really hitting on all cylinders.

We’re in a position with AEW where we just get to go out there, be given the ball, and get a chance to score touchdowns on a weekly basis. Nobody’s doing it at a higher level than us two right now.”

Tony Khan Comments On “Huge Huge Star” Debuting At AEW Revolution

Paul Wight dropped a bombshell at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite. During his first appearance for AEW, Wight revealed that a ‘Hall of Fame’ worthy star will debut this Sunday at AEW Revolution.

AEW President Tony Khan appeared on this week’s AEW Unrestricted podcast and provided some new information about this signing. Khan said, “It’s true. There’s going to be a major star in the world of wrestling, a huge huge star, is going to sign a multi-year deal at the pay-per-view.”

You can listen to Tony Khan’s comments in the player embedded below:

Khan confirmed there will actually be two debuts at AEW Revolution: Paul Wight’s mystery man, as well as the 6th and final competitor in the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match.

So, who is the “huge huge star” who has signed a multi-year contract with AEW? Khan’s “It’s true” remark has some fans guessing Kurt Angle. Other possibilities could include Christian, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk or Batista.

Batista Says It’s Not Him

Speaking of Batista, he denies that he’s signing with AEW. In response to a fan on Twitter, Batista reiterated that he is retired from pro wrestling.

https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/1367349588970123267

So, just how “done” is Batista with pro wrestling? Back in 2019, Batista told Chris Van Vliet that he would go broke before wrestling another match.

”This is a real wrestling retirement. I am done. My in-ring career is over… I will not have another wrestling match. I will go broke before I have another wrestling match, and I will not go and wrestle for another promotion. It’s not going to happen.”

CM Punk: It Isn’t Me Either

Former WWE Superstar CM Punk is also urging fans to not get their hopes about him being the AEW signee. Punk held a Twitter Q&A on Thursday afternoon told people flat out – “no, it’s not me.’

Shaq planted Cody with a Powerbomb but Rhodes hopped up and slammed Shaq to the canvas for a near fall. Cody then hit a Crossbody on Shaq that sent him through two tables next to the ring. Red Velvet hit a Spear but Jade was able to kick out at two. Jade then hit her finisher for the pinfall victory. Shaq was put in an ambulance but was not in it when Tony Schiavone opened the door.

Opinion: Tonight was an impressive debut for Cargill and I thought this match was way better than I thought it was going to be. I was not expecting to see Shaq hit a Powerbomb and take a bump through two tables.

Young Bucks Attacked Inner Circle

Inner Circle came to the ring for a Town Hall Meeting. Jericho & MJF vowed to beat the hell out of the Young Bucks this Sunday at Revolution. Conrad Thompson came to the podium and asked if Sammy was going to be let back into Inner Circle. MJF called Conrad “turkey tits” in response to the questcion. Barstool’s Brandon Walker showed up and then Bischoff returned to Dynamite.

Bischoff asked about the condition of Papa Buck after their attack last week. Jericho said that they don’t care about the condition of Matt and Nick’s father. AEW Tag Team Champions Young Bucks interrupted and made their way to the ring.

Matt and Nick said that their father is the greatest and did all the things that MJF & Jericho’s fathers failed to do. Young Bucks added that their dad taught them to stand up for themselves and a brawl broke out. Matt and Nick then put Santana and Ortiz through some tables to end the segment.

Shawn Spears Returned

FTR & Tully Blanchard squared off against Jurassic Express tonight on Dynamite. J.J. Dillon was ringside for the match. Ryo Mizunami Earned A Title Shot

Nyla Rose faced Ryo Mizunami in the finals of the AEW Women’s Elimination Tournament. Nyla dominated the action early but Ryo battled back and sent Rose the corner of the ring. Rose planted Ryo with a Backbreaker and went for the cover but Mizunami kicked out at two.

Rose went for a Senton but Ryo got out of the way and Nyla crashed to the canvas. Ryo hit Nyla with a Leg Drop on the ring apron and Rose fell to the floor outside the ring. Back in the ring, Rose connected with a Samoan Drop and hung up Ryo across the top rope.

Nyla climbed to the top turnbuckle and hit a Knee Drop but Ryo somehow kicked out at two as Vickie Guerrero flipped out ringside. Ryo hit a German Suplex and followed it up with a Spear. Ryo then hit the Guillotine Leg Drop for the pinfall victory. Ryo will face Hiraku Shida for the AEW Women’s Championship this Sunday at Revolution.

Opinion: I’m glad it is not Nyla Rose again, but I don’t know how I’m supposed to be excited for this match. Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker are usually featured on Dynamite every week and are not in the title picture. I’m sure it will be a good match but AEW didn’t do enough to get a lot of people invested.

Ricky Starks Interrupted Sting

Sting was interviewed by Tony Schiavone once again on Dynamite. Ricky Starks interrupted and told Sting that he saw fire from him last week. Starks added that he is also man enough to admit that Sting has still got it. Ricky told Sting that he still isn’t an icon and slapped Starks across the face. Sting sent Ricky to the corner and hit the Stinger Splash.

Sting then locked in the Scorpion Deathlock but Hobbs and Cage broke it up. Brian Cage tried for the Powerbomb again but Darby Allin made the save to end the segment. Sting & Allin will face Ricky Starks & Brian Cage this Sunday at Revolution in a Street Fight.

Max Caster Qualified For The Ladder Match At Revolution

Max Caster faced 10 from Dark Order tonight on Dynamite. The winner of the match will qualify for the Face of the Revolution match this Sunday at Revolution. Before the match, Caster rapped and included a line about Lady Gaga’s dog walker that was shot four times. Caster then won the match after Jack Evans interfered.

Hangman & John Silver Picked Up A Win

John Silver & Hangman Page faced Matt Hardy & Marq Quen tonight on Dynamite in the main event. Hardy and Quen dominated the action early as Dynamite went to a commercial break. When Dynamite returned. Hardy bounced Silver’s head off the apron and went for the cover but John kicked out at two.

Matt leaped off the turnbuckle but Silver caught him with a knee strike. Silver hit Sliced Bread and finally was able to tag in Hangman. Page leveled Quen with a Clothesline and followed it up with a massive Spinebuster in the middle of the ring.

Page hit Quen with a Fallaway Slam and then hit Hardy with a Crossbody outside the ring. Back in the ring, Hangman planted Quen with a Death Valley Driver for a near fall. Matt tagged in and hit Page with a Neckbreaker for a two count.

Hangman battled back and connected with a Back Suplex. Page knocked Quen off the apron and tagged Silver back in. John hit Matt with a Spear and followed it up with a Brainbuster for a two count.

Quen hit Silver with a cheap shot and then tagged back in. Marq climbed to the top rope and hit Silver with a Dropkick. Page tagged in and hit Quen with a Powerbomb and Silver followed it up with a Clothesline. Hangman then connected with the Buckshot Lariat for the pinfall victory.

Matt attacked Hangman after the match but Dark Order rushed the ring. The rest of the tag teams in the Casino Battle Royal on Sunday rushed the ring and a massive brawl broke out as Brodie Lee Jr. watched on from the stage. Matt escaped from the ring and traded words with Brodie Jr. to close the show.

Opinion: Dynamite was another solid show this week and did a good job of hyping up the PPV this Sunday. There are several matches I am looking forward to this Sunday and hopefully Revolution turns out to be a great show.

Shaq Challenges Cody Rhodes, Tag Match Expected For AEW Revolution

Shaquille O’Neal threw out the challenge to Cody Rhodes to a wrestling match.

It happened when the NBA Legend released a short video promo ahead of Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It was directed at the top AEW superstar where he insulted him then told “the American Nightmare” that any time or place he wants to fight he’ll be there.

“Cody Rhodes, you little punk. You want a battle? You just name the time and the date. I’ll be there. You little punk, with your little blonde hair…look like a little girl. You want some of the Shaq-attack… let’s do it in March. How about that?”

With Shaq bringing up March, which just so happens to be when AEW holds its Revolution pay-per-view event (reportedly March 7th), many fans quickly came to the conclusion that the former NBA star was teasing a match at this show.

Rhodes wrote on Twitter, “(deep breath) Let’s be serious here…with the utmost respect, I would eat this guy alive in the ring.” He added he would address Shaq on Dynamite and that’s exactly what he did.

On Dynamite, Cody Rhodes came out with Arn Anderson for a promo. Midway through, Arn Anderson introduced Red Velvet. AEW Revolution Date Pushed Back To March

All Elite Wrestling is reportedly looking at pushing back the planned date for the 2021 Revolution PPV. The originally planned date for the event had been February 27th, 2021 but according to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the date is being pushed back. No official date has been announced for the event as of yet, however.

“We’ve heard possible dates of either 3/6 or 3/7 at Daily’s Place. The original date of 2/27 has been talked about as possibly a Jake Paul PPV,” wrote Dave Meltzer. The report would continue to say that the potential Jake Paul boxing fight is not official and may not happen, however.

It was also noted in the report that AEW’s lowest-drawing PPV, 2019’s Full Gear, went head-to-head with a Jake Paul fight on PPV.

“The lowest AEW PPV, Full Gear on November 9, 2019, even with a Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega unsanctioned match on top, went head-to-head with the second Logan Paul vs. KSI fight.”

The first match confirmed for the event was announced yesterday. Following weeks of feuding between Sting, Darby Allin, and Team Taz, a street fight has been scheduled. It will be Darby Allin and Sting teaming up against Ricky Starks and Brian Cage. The match was announced officially yesterday after having been teased this week on Dynamite.

Sting & Darby Allin vs. Team Taz Street Fight Signed For AEW Revolution

All Elite Wrestling has announced the first match for AEW Revolution and it’s a biggie. Sting will make his debut alongside AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin. They will face Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a Street Fight.

Darby Allin commented on the news that he will be Sting’s tag team partner at AEW Revolution. He posted the black and white match graphic on Instagram with the caption, “Legendary”

Sting & Darby Allin

Sting and Darby have been at Odds with Team Taz in recent weeks. On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Sting and Darby talked about “taking it to the streets” against Taz’s henchmen. You can see video of that exchange in the player embedded below.

Darby Allin will be Sting’s first tag team partner in AEW, but he recently commented on the possibility of wrestling against him. “I don’t know what his health’s like, I don’t know what he wants to do,” Allin told Sportskeeda. “If he wants to get in the ring with me, good luck, that’s what I would say, I’m ready. If he’s ready, I’m ready. I have no clue if he’s actually going to be ready. Everything’s up in the air.

Darby has also addressed comparisons to the WCW legend:

Opinion: Allin and Sammy had an awesome match tonight. The Coffin Drop is easily one of my favorite finishers right now and Allin’s completely fearlessness in the ring is impressive to watch.

Opinion: This match was everything I wanted it to and more. It was thirty minutes of flawless tag team wrestling and it is going to be pretty much impossible to follow this match tonight.

Statlander planted Rose with a Superplex and went for the cover but Rose kicked out at two. Statlander went for a Hurricanrana but Nyla caught her with a Beast Bomb of the second rope for the pinfall victory. Nyla Rose is still the AEW Women’s Champion.

Opinion: Rose and Statlander were put in an impossible position trying to follow the epic Tag Team Championship match. They did the best they could to get the crowd invested in this turned out to be a solid match. The lack of build and poor placement on the card made it pretty much impossible for the crowd to be invested in this match.

MJF and Cody finally squared off tonight at AEW Revolution. Downstait played Cody’s entrance theme live at the PPV.

Cody whipped MJF with the belt before the referee grabbed it. Cody shouted let me have one more and referee Paul Turner let him have do it. Cody launched the belt into the crowd as MJF cowered to the corner of the ring. MJF crawled to Cody’s foot and started crying. MJF then hugged Rhodes in the ring before spitting in his face. Cody hit MJF with two Cross Rhodes and set up for a third but MJF used the Dynamite Diamond Ring and punched Cody in the face. MJF fell onto Cody for the pinfall victory.

Opinion: I don’t think this match lived up to the hype but it still was very solid and felt old school. I liked the finish and it was the right decision to have MJF get this win. MJF is going to be a huge star in AEW for years to come and a victory over Cody will only that.

Opinion: This match was fun as hell and the crowd added so much to it. There are plenty of people that cannot stand Orange Cassidy’s shtick but I find it hilarious.

Jon Moxley Captured The AEW Championship

moxley jericho aew revolution

Chris Jericho defended the AEW Championship against Jon Moxley in the main event of AEW Revolution. Santana and Ortiz accompanied Jericho to the ring as a choir sang Judas (Jericho’s theme) on the entrance ramp. Aubrey was the referee for the match.

Match Recap: Moxley went right after Jericho to start things off and sent him over the barricade and into the crowd. Jericho and Moxley battled through the crowd as Aubrey elected not to end the match in a DQ. Jericho grabbed a camera and filmed himself giving the middle finger to Moxley.

Jon responded by biting Jericho’s face where the stitches were from the headbutt on Wednesday night. Jericho slammed Moxley’s face into the ring post as Santana and Ortiz cackled in his face. Moxley was busted open and Jericho capitalized with a few punches to the face. Jericho Powerbombed Moxley onto the timekeeper’s table and posed in the ring.

https://twitter.com/AEWrestling/status/1233967137435398144?s=20

Moxley got back into the ring and Jericho beat him down while shouting that Jon was a piece of sh*t. Jericho rang the bell and declared himself the winner before returning to the ring to stomp on Moxley in the corner. Jericho pulled down his knee pad and hit a Knee Drop to Moxley’s face off the second turnbuckle. Jericho went for the Judas Effect but Moxley dodged it and hit the Paradigm Shift. Jon took off the eye patch to reveal that his eye was fine. Moxley hit another massive Paradigm Shift for the pinfall victory. Jon Moxley is the new AEW Champion.

After the match, Jon Moxley grabbed a microphone and said he loved this sh*t. Jon added that it has been a hell of a year and said that the wrestling fans have been driving AEW forward. Moxley added that the crowd is the energy that drives AEW forward and they are bring pro wrestling back to the people. Jon said that the title belongs to everyone in Chicago and all the AEW fans around the world. Moxley thanked the fans that have stuck with him through the all the ups and downs. Moxley’s music played and Jon told them to shut it off. Jon said that he fight anyone at any time but right now it is time to knock back some whiskey.

Opinion: Jericho and Moxley had a very good match tonight and it is great to see Jon rewarded with the AEW Championship. I enjoyed the storyline of Moxley getting one over on Jericho by pretending his eye was still injured. Omega, Page, and the Young Bucks completely stole the show but the rest of the card was great as well. Overall, AEW Revolution was a great PPV and I’m already looking forward to Dynamite this Wednesday night.

MJF Beats Cody Rhodes At AEW Revolution

Cody Rhodes vs. MJF finally happened.

Rhodes didn’t go over MJF as he got his revenge at Saturday’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL. The finish saw MJF counter a third Cross Rhodes by hitting Cody in the face with a diamond ring for the win.

The promotion finally announced the match after the February 19th episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT in Atlanta, GA when Rhodes beat Wardlow in a Steel Cage match.

This comes after Rhodes completed all of the stipulations that MJF demanded. These stips included lashing Cody and Rhodes beating Wardlow.

After months of MJF acting like he was Rhodes’ friend, he turned on the fan-favorite last November.

Chris Jericho retained as AEW World Heavyweight Championship over Rhodes in the main event of the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event.

The stipulation coming into this title match last November was the fact that if Cody didn’t beat Jericho then he would never allow himself to challenge for the AEW World Title again.

MJF threw in the towel while Jericho had Cody in the Walls of Jericho, which resulted in the finish. After the match, MJF kicked him in the nuts and stood over Cody. Since then, the two had been exchanging words to build to this moment.

Kenny Omega & Adam Page Retain AEW Tag Team Titles At Revolution

Kenny Omega and Adam Page will, in fact, keep the AEW Tag Team Titles.

Omega and Page took on The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view event. This is where Omega and Page successfully retained the titles over the fan-favorite tag team.

AEW booked a Tag Team Battle Royal on the February 19 episode of Dynamite in Atlanta, GA. The stipulation going into the match was that the winners would become the new #1 contenders for the straps.

The Young Bucks vs. SCU vs. Private Party vs. Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus vs. Best Friends vs. Santana & Ortiz vs. The Butcher & The Blade vs. Jack Evans & Angelico vs. Alex Reynolds & John Silver vs. Cima & Michael Nakazawa were featured in the match.

The Young Bucks ended up winning the contest. Thus, earning the right to challenge for the AEW Tag Team Titles against Page and Omega at AEW Revolution.

Page and Omega beat SCU for the titles on the January 22nd episode of AEW Dynamite that was taped the night in the Bahamas on the Ship of Jericho on TNT.

Jake Hager Wins His AEW In-Ring Debut At Revolution

Jake Hager vs. Dustin Rhodes is in the books.

As seen at Saturday’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL, Hager beat Rhodes in this contest that marked his in-ring debut with All Elite Wrestling.

In order to build up to this match, AEW had to lay some back story between Rhodes and Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger from his time in WWE.

During the build-up for the AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho-Cody Rhodes match last year heading into Full Gear, Rhodes took a beat down from Hager.

AEW did an angle where Rhodes’ arm was broken after Hager smashed it in a car door.

It was revealed that Hager had signed with the promotion when he made his on the October 2, 2019 episode of AEW Dynamite from Washington, D.C., at the famed Capital One Arena on TNT.

On this show, Jericho, Santana, and Ortiz beat The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega in a six-man tag team match. After the contest, Hager walked out and helped the heels beatdown the babyfaces.

He’s been aligned with the heel group, named The Inner Circle, on television since then.

Chris Jericho Talks About AEW Building New Stars, Jon Moxley Feud

Cody Rhodes Says Revolution Could Be AEW’s “WrestleMania”

Cody Rhodes says that while AEW has never designated one event as its most important, Revolution may end up being the promotion’s WrestleMania level event. The AEW EVP spoke with Newsweek about the upcoming PPV.

“A lot of people ask us, ‘What’s your WrestleMania? What’s your big event?’ We’ve never designated one event as the big event out of our four pay-per-views,” said Rhodes. “But just kind of going with what my gut is feeling and seeing the marketing element, the thematic element, the staging element, I think Revolution may end up being the big one.”

Revolution marks the fourth and final pay-per-view of All Elite Wrestling’s quarterly PPV calendar. The current roster of AEW pay-per-view events includes Double or Nothing, All Out, Full Gear and Revolution. The promotion also holds occasional ‘special events’ including shows like Fyter Fest, Fight for the Fallen, Bash at the Beach and the Jericho Cruise.

Cody is scheduled to take on Maxwell Jacob Friedman Saturday night in Chicago. The relationship between the former close friends imploded at Full Gear (November 2019) when MJF threw in the towel while in Cody’s corner for his title match against Chris Jericho. The action not only cost Cody the match but also the ability to ever challenge for the AEW World title again.

“If I’m wrong,” Cody continued, “that means one of the others is the big one, so it’s OK. But I have just such a good feeling about February 29th.”

Head over to Newsweek.com to check out their full interview with Cody Rhodes.

Below, you can catch up on the entire rivalry between Cody and MJF.

AEW Dynamite Headed To Houston, TX In April

Cody Rhodes vs. MJF Is Official For AEW Revolution

Cody Rhodes vs. MJF is official as AEW (All Elite Wrestling) has confirmed the match booking.

The promotion did so on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT in Atlanta, GA at the State Farm Arena. This comes after Rhodes completed all of the stipulations that MJF demanded including lashing Cody and Rhodes beating Wardlow in a Steel Cage match.

Chris Jericho remained as AEW World Heavyweight Champion when he successfully retained the title over Rhodes in the headliner of the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event.

The stipulation coming into this match was the fact that if Cody didn’t beat Jericho then he would never allow himself to challenge for the AEW World Title again. This was when the rivalry started between MJF and Cody.

MJF threw in the towel while Jericho had Cody in the Walls of Jericho. Post-match, MJF kicked him in the nuts and stood over Cody.

Jake Hager vs. Dustin Rhodes Signed For AEW Revolution (2/29)

All Elite Wrestling has announced a new match for their upcoming Revolution pay-per-view.

Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger from his time in WWE, is slated to take on Dustin Rhodes in a singles match at this show. This will mark Hager’s in-ring debut for the promotion.

There is some history with Rhodes and Hager as during the build-up for the AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho-Cody Rhodes match last year heading into Full Gear, Rhodes took a beat down from Hager.

In fact, AEW did an angle where Rhodes’ arm was broken after Hager smashed it in a car door.
