All In Main Event Cut Short, PPV Almost Went Off Air Before Finish

During the main event of last night’s All In pay-per-view, voices could be heard yelling “Go home!” as the wrestlers scrambled to ensure the match ended before the feed cut out.

The main event Trios match featuring the Golden Elite vs Rey Mysterio, Bandido, and Fenix had to be cut short. The match was supposed to go just under 30 minutes but ended up going less than half that time.

“The main event got cut from 28 to 12,” Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer radio. “I guess the Hangman Page match went long and the Marty Scurll match went long.”

All In Main Event Cut Short

As the match was on traditional pay-per-view in addition to streaming services, the show had a strict window within which to work. During the match, it was said they were hoping to get the finish in with 2 minutes to spare but in the end, the finish came with only seconds to go.

Alvarez and Meltzer lamented that had the 6 performers had the full 28 minutes to perform, it would have been a heck of a match.

“It’s too bad because there was an incredible amount of talent in that match,” Meltzer said. “They didn’t get a chance to show what they can do by any means.”

Rey Mysterio Expected To Return To WWE Soon

Rey Mysterio is expected to return to WWE very soon.

The Mexican star has been rumored to return to the company for the past several months. Mysterio made his return to WWE in January as part of the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

The following April he returned for the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. Mysterio has reportedly been negotiating for a return ever since.

Recently, signs have indicated that Mysterio’s return to WWE is inevitable. Last week Mysterio pulled from a Northeast Wrestling appearance due to his “upcoming contractual situation with WWE.”

Rey Mysterio Expected To Return Within A Month

PWInsider‘s Mike Johnson is now reporting that Mysterio will in fact be back with WWE within the next month or so. Johnson is unaware if the deal will be full-time or part-time, however, his return seems to be eminent.

Mysterio will compete at September 1st’s “All In” event. Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks are self-funding the historical show. The action goes down live from the Sears Centre in Illinois. Mysterio will team up with Fenix and Bandido.

Rey Mysterio’s WWE Negotiations

Rey Mysterio and WWE have been discussing a possible deal for several months now. He’s made one-off appearances for WWE at the Royal Rumble in January and the Greatest Royal Rumble in April.

He recently spoke to the Miami Herald about his negotiations with WWE.

“We started off with the Royal Rumble at the beginning of the year in January,” Mysterio said. There was another offer on the table to do the Greatest Royal Rumble, and in between those two events, we’ve been going back-n-forth in conversations, trying to work out the right deal…It’s still up in the air. Nothing secure, yet.”

Rey Mysterio Opens Up On Talks With WWE, Being Featured In WWE 2K19 Commercial

Rey Mysterio continues to make the media rounds while talking all things pro wrestling including how WWE negotiations are going. He spoke about the ongoing talks in a recent interview with the Miami Herald.

The former WWE star is booked for another match for New Japan Pro Wrestling at Budokan Hall on August 12th, the ‘All In’ event on September 1st and Chris Jericho’s upcoming Rock n Wrestling Rager At Sea. The belief is that once he finishes up those commitments then he should make his WWE return.

“We started off with the Royal Rumble at the beginning of the year in January. There was another offer on the table to do the Greatest Royal Rumble, and in between those two events, we’ve been going back and forth in conversations, trying to work out the right deal. It’s still up in the air. Nothing [is] secure, yet.”

It’s well known by now that Mysterio has been announced as the pre-order bonus character for WWE 2K19. 2K Games also revealed that WWE Champion AJ Styles will be the cover star for the game that will be released on October 9, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Mysterio also talked about being featured in the commercial for the game where he noted that it was very nostalgic and humbling.

“To see the amount of work that was put in by WWE to get this product out. To do things like they always do, top notch. My respect goes out to those who paid respect for Rey Mysterio. Whether it’s The Miz saying ‘He’s a pest,’ that’s a form of flattery from his end, a form of paying respect to what I’ve done for almost three decades. I was very happy with the end result. I was amazed as a matter of fact.”

Nixed Plan For Rey Mysterio’s All In Match

Rey Mysterio is set to compete in a 6 man tag match at the upcoming All In event but a recent report reveals that he was originally considered to be part of a big singles match instead.

According to Pwinsider, at one point Mysterio was being considered to be IWGP World Champion Kenny Omega’s opponent for the show but the promoters Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks decided against it.

Rey will now team up with Fenix and Bandido to face the team of the Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi. On the other hand, Omega’s match for this mega event is yet to be announced.

Rey Mysterio Discusses ROH- NJPW MSG Show, Potentially Wrestling Daniel Bryan

Rey Mysterio recently discussed various topics while at the annual Florida Supercon in Fort Lauderdale, FL with The Roman Show.

The former WWE star is expected to make his return to the company later this year once the two sides can agree upon a deal. Until then, he is working for other promotions including NJPW on different occasions.

In this interview, Mysterio gave his take on ROH and New Japan Pro Wrestling holding an event at Madison Square Garden next year during WrestleMania 35 weekend where he stated that you have to think of the great talent that those two companies have as it’s unbelieve and a great roster. He added that he wishes him the best of luck with this upcoming show.

Mysterio also briefly commented on possibly working with Daniel Bryan in the WWE when he returns to the company.

“Anything can happen. I did two Royal Rumbles for WWE this year. If you happen to see me on a Raw or Smackdown and you want to see a certain match, then you already know. But if not, I am still going to be doing what I am doing out here in the wrestling independent scene.”

Mysterio noted that just next month, he is working another show for NJPW then working the ‘All In event come September, Chris Jericho’s cruise in October. Thus, there’s a lot of good things coming his way.

Update on Rey Mysterio’s Negotiations With WWE

Rey Mysterio and WWE are continuing to engage in contract negotiations but there are a few sticking points which might delay the luchador’s return to the company. Namely, Mysterio has commitments outside of WWE he would like to keep. One of those commitments is Cody and the Young Bucks’ “All-In”.

A recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is stating that the two sides have come close to a deal but Mysterio’s commitments are all that is left to be worked out.

“While Rey Mysterio has not signed with WWE, the discussions are close enough that they’ve talked about what commitments he has and doesn’t have left,” the report reads. “All-In is obviously a key thing.”

The report continues to say WWE would rather Mysterio not work the event.

Rey Mysterio at All-In?

Mysterio was announced as being All-In back in May. He appeared on Jim Ross’ podcast last month and spoke about the Chicago-based event on September 1st. Ross asked him who he thinks his opponent will be on the show.

“I don’t have a clue yet,” said Mysterio. “I’m sure they have something good cooked up because they’ve been doing this very methodical and just the way they announced the show, the way they’ve announced talent little by little. It’s a good strategy, so I’m sure they have a good show lined up.”

Rey added that he’s been in touch with Cody and The Young Bucks, who are giving him input regarding who he works with at the show.

619 Day In San Diego

On June 19th (6/19) the city of San Diego declared a holiday to celebrate one of their most famous residents. Media at the event asked Mysterio what his status with WWE is.

“I’m actually getting ready to go back to possibly a WWE contract, so – we’re talking about another three years if my body hangs tight and holds on.”

Rumor Killer On Rey Mysterio Signing A WWE Deal

It was reported earlier in the day that the former World Champion Rey Mysterio has signed a 2 years deal with WWE while the company was in San Diego recently.

However after the report went viral, WrestlingInc debunked the rumors and after talking to their source, the site reveals that the High Flying Star remains a free agent.

The last we heard about Mysterio’s future was when it was revealed that he was negotiating a 3 years deal with the company which will allow him to work a limited schedule.

After this, the Officials surprised everyone by announcing the former WCW Star as the pre-order bonus for the upcoming WWE 2K19 video game which is set to release in October.

In the past few years, stars who have been announced as the pre-order bonus for the 2K series video games have ended up returning to the company in some capacity and this news made many believe that Mysterio’s return is also imminent.

Since Officials are already trying to sign the stars expected to appear at the upcoming ALL In event, it’s not hard to imagine that they are pushing for Rey’s return as well and want to sign him before the show.

Though as of this writing, Rey Mysterio is still slated to appear at the indie event organized by Cody and the Young Bucks and considering the slow pace of negotiations, the possibility of his WWE return before ALL In does not look very bright at the moment.

More Information On Rey Mysterio’s WWE Status

As we’ve noted, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio has been announced as the special pre-order bonus character for the WWE 2K19 video game.

Per a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Mysterio has yet to sign a contract with WWE. He did note, however, that he does expect a deal between The Master Of The 619 and WWE to eventually get done.

The only thing putting a stop in the negotiations is the issues regarding money and dates on both sides, not to mention that Triple H is very busy and it’s hard to find time to negotiate.

The 43-year-old hasn’t worked for WWE as a full-time talent since 2015. His contract with WWE expired in February of 2015 and he decided to work the indies for a few years. Before his contract expired his run with the company lasted nearly 13 years.

He made returns for WWE at the 2018 Royal Rumble and at the Greatest Royal Rumble in April. Both were one-off appearances and both sides have been trying to negotiate a deal to bring the Mexican star back full-time for the past several months.

Rey Mysterio Announced As WWE 2K19 Pre-Order Bonus Character

Former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio has been officially announced as the pre-order bonus character for WWE 2K19.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in San Diego, CA at the Valley View Casino Center on the USA Network, a teaser trailer aired for the upcoming video game and it was revealed that Mysterio would be the bonus character.

Despite his recent appearances for the sports entertainment company this year, (competing in the Royal Rumble Match at the pay-per-view event in January and wrestling in the 50-Man Royal Rumble Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV) Mysterio has yet to agree to terms for a new WWE contract but is expected to sign a new deal that would see him return to the WWE later this year.

Just last week, it was revealed by 2K Games that WWE Champion AJ Styles will be the cover star for the game.

WWE 2K19 will be released on October 9, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As of this writing, 2K Games did not reveal a trailer for the game.

Rey Mysterio Explains Why It’s Hard For Heels Today To Get Heat

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio was recently a guest on Hall Of Famer Jim Ross’ podcast, The Ross Report, to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Mysterio first offered his thoughts on Chris Jericho, proclaiming Y2J a “visionary”:

“I’ve actually, without picking his mind that much, I’ve learned a lot about how he likes to roll and do his own thing.” Mysterio continued, “and I tip my hat off for him because he has worked his ass off. He has. He has been on the grind.

“He was the first guy ever to leave WCW, take that risk, go to WWF at the time, and look at him now. He has his rock band. He’s a visionary. He sees something, if he wants to go for it, he goes for it. And he’ll achieve it when he’s finished.”

The Master Of The 619 then explained why he thinks it’s difficult for heels today to get heat. In Mysterio’s estimation, fans tend to cheer on heels as if they were babyfaces in today’s professional wrestling universe:

“It is [impossible for heels to get real heat nowadays] because of the fact that, for the fans, if you have a rich history on your way to becoming one of the top heels, all-of-a-sudden, heels are loved. Why? Because you worked hard to obtain your spot.” Mysterio added, “it sounds weird, but you become a babyface in their eyes.”

Mysterio then stated that fans can’t cheer for both competitors inside the ring, the same way they can’t cheer for both football teams in the NFL, both competitors in a fight, etc.:

“You can’t go to an arena and cheer both fighters.” Mysterio explained, “in this case, you can’t go for Manny Pacquiao and cheer for Julio César Chávez. You either go for one or the other. And same for football. You can’t go for both football teams. You’ve got to pick one.”

Finally, Mysterio discussed his involvement in All In. He admits he doesn’t know who he’s facing yet but said Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks are looking to put together the best card possible:

“I don’t have a clue yet [about his All In opponent].” Mysterio said, “I’m sure they have something good cooked up because they’ve been doing this very methodical and just the way they announced the show, the way they’ve announced talent little by little. It’s a good strategy, so I’m sure they have a good show lined up.

“I’ve been in contact with both the Bucks and Cody, so they’re letting me choose as well. They’re throwing some stuff around. But, at the end of the day, whatever we think the fans are going to love the most, that’s what we want to give them.”

Rey Mysterio Reportedly Negotiating A 3 Year Deal With WWE

Rey Mysterio is currently negotiating a three year deal with the company which will allow the former WWE Champion to work a part-time schedule, according to LuchaCentral.

Mysterio has made a couple of appearances for WWE this year and he returned to the company after nearly 3 years of absence at Royal Rumble in January

He also wrestled in the 50 Men Battle Royal at the Mega Live Event in Saudi Arabia in April where he entered at #28 and was eliminated by Baron Corbin.

Rey has been negotiating a deal with the company ever since his return in January and Triple H is said to be the person in charge of the discussion between the two parties.

However, things have been moving slowly and after almost 6 months of his comeback at Royal Rumble, we’re still not sure when Mysterio may return to the company for a longer run.

Though these latest updates coincide with a previous report which claimed that the Masked Star wants to work a part-time schedule in WWE, opposed to the full-time contract Officials were offering him.

And after this report, it seems like Officials have agreed to his demand of a part-time schedule and it appears to be only a matter of time before Rey Mysterio is back into the WWE fold.

WWE Reportedly Still Interested In Rey Mysterio

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio made his return to the company for a one-off appearance in the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble match this past January. He later returned to work the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia this past April.

There have since been rumors that WWE is attempting to lock Mysterio down to a deal that will bring him back to the company. Dave Meltzer reports on Wrestling Observer Live that still no deal has been made as of last week. WWE and Mysterio continue to negotiate for a potential deal.

He did note that there’s a feeling Mysterio could return to WWE sometime around September, as he currently has commitments he would like to fulfill through this summer. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more…

Rey Mysterio Pitches Idea For Stable When He Returns To WWE

Rey Mysterio has pitched an interesting idea for a new stable in the WWE.

Despite his recent appearances for the sports entertainment company this year (competing in the Royal Rumble Match at the pay-per-view event in January and wrestling in the 50-Man Royal Rumble Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV) Mysterio has not agreed to terms for a new WWE contract.

His appearance in Saudi Arabia was a one-shot deal. It’s still expected that Rey will sign with WWE and that he’ll likely return to TV later this year after he finishes up his other commitments.

Mysterio recently spoke with Harry Ruiz of Telemundo Las Vegas and during the media appearance, he revealed that he wants to create a super stable when he returns to the sports entertainment company.

As far as the members of the group, he would want Sin Cara, Kalisto as well as former NXT Champion Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas.

“@ReyMysterio told me the only thing missing with the Latino talent in #WWE right now (@SinCaraWWE, @KalistoWWE, @AndradeCienWWE) is him, so that way they could form a stable. LWO 2.0 coming up? Do it @VinceMcMahon! #LuchaLibre.”

Rey Mysterio On Wanting to Work With Cody Rhodes In New Japan, Best High-Flyer In The World

Wrestling legend Rey Mysterio Jr. was Sean Waltman’s guest on this week’s edition of the X-PAC 1-2-360 podcast. You can Subscribe on iTunes and listen to audio of the full show at the bottom of this article.

During the broadcast, Waltman paid his respects to former WWE Superstar Nick “Big Bully” Busick, who passed away this week. Waltman knew Busick for their days together in Dallas wrestling for GWF. He called Busick a wonderful human being, a tough SOB and someone that had the respect of everyone due to the way he treated others.

Rey Mysterio joined the show and spoke about a number of interesting topic, including his son Dominic’s journey to follow in his footsteps, wanting to work with Cody Rhodes outside of WWE and more.

Here are some highlights sent in by the show’s producers:

Rey Mysterio On The Best High-Flyer In The World Right Now

“Oh, you got me there. I want to say, I guess this answer’s fair because they’re from different countries so I’m going to do one from each country. Mexico Rey Fenix, US Ricochet, and UK Ospreay. I would love to see them in a three-way.”

Wanting To Work With Cody Rhodes:

“I actually do hope to work with him and meet outside of the WWE, I think after you’ve been in the WWE and you know what the grind is like and at some point you feel that it’s not for you and you need a break, you need to speak up, be heard. And I think that’s what he did…but now he’s pretty much doing what he loves, he’s still wrestling.

He’s working with I’d say one of the biggest companies in Japan that is starting to make a big impact here in the U.S as well, but I truly hope to see him in the ring one day for New Japan.”

His Son Dominic’s Future In Pro Wrestling

“I’m very happy and honored to pass the torch on to my son, who’s actually training right now. He’s moving along with his training and there’s nothing that excites me and makes me feel proud as to what my son is doing right now, following in my footsteps. Being in the business as hard as it is and as rough as it is…you obviously hope that your kid would follow in your footsteps one day. And that day came about two and half years ago with my son. He’s actually doing a good job, going through his training phases. He started in Tampa last year with Jay Lethal…he’s back home now and in September he goes up to Canada to train with Lance Storm.

He hasn’t had a match, it’s funny how promoters book me and at the end of the conversation they’ll just throw out ‘Hey if you want to bring your son out here, if he wants to come out, we’ll take care of him.’ and I’m like nah he’s not ready yet. I’ll be the first to say he’s definitely not ready. He’s in the learning process but overall I have this mentality on how I want to prepare him to better than his old man, cause I know he will be, I am that positive that he’s gonna be better than his old man. And I wanna take him around and learn from different camps.

I wanna get him into a New Japan camp, they just opened in LA. Get him into Booker T’s school and I might even send him to Japan for a couple months. Hopefully within the next year and a half if he’s ready, I’ll be the last to take care of him. I’ll just finish it up and polish him to be ready to go.

The Latest On Rey Mysterio’s WWE Negotiations

Since making his return at the Royal Rumble this past January, much has been made about Rey Mysterio’s WWE status. He has had at least one meeting with Triple H regarding negotiations since the Rumble.

There’s also indication that he’ll be making an appearance at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in less than a week in Saudi Arabia. A fan asked Dave Meltzer on Twitter about Mysterio’s WWE status, and he reports the former World Champion has yet to sign a deal:

Several Legends Reunite At “Legends Of Wrestling” Event

Several professional wrestling legends reunited in Detroit for their “Legends Of Wrestling” event. Those legends include two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Road Warrior Animal, Mick Foley, Sting, Jimmy Hart, and The Nasty Boys. Here are some photos:

WWE Spoils Greatest Royal Rumble Surprise Appearance

An Image on WWE’s official website has seemingly spoiled a big return/surprise for the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia later this month.

It was reported before that Rey Mysterio had agreed to a one-off appearance for the upcoming show as he continues his talks for a longer contract.

Though the company had not announced the addition of the former World Champion to their upcoming mega Live Event, as they probably intended to keep it a surprise.

However, as noted by several fans it appears that the surprise has been spoiled by WWE’s own staff via an image posted on the Network page of their official website.

The Greatest Royal Rumble will be broadcasted Live on WWE Network and the company recently updated the Network page on WWE.com to promote this event.

What’s interesting is that a poster featured on the page as seen in the screenshot below also includes Rey Mysterio among other stars. This ends any remaining doubt on Mysterio’s appearance at the upcoming event:

Rey mysterio GRR

Rey Mysterio last appeared for WWE during the traditional Royal Rumble event earlier this year. Since then, there have been reports of him talking to the officials for a longer run but things appear to be moving very slowly.

You can check out the updated Greatest Royal Rumble match card here.

Update On Rey Mysterio In The Greatest Royal Rumble

Rey Mysterio is the latest high-profile name expected to take part in the 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble match from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia later this month.

Mysterio made a surprise return to WWE back in January when he entered the Royal Rumble match. Since then, it’s been widely reported that the former World Champion was in talks bout a return to the WWE roster. During an early March appearance for Northeast Wrestling, Mysterio suffered a biceps injury which has kept him out of action ever since.

Word broke last week that Mysterio will be returning to a WWE ring at the Greatest Royal Rumble event, which led fans to wonder if this would be another one-off appearance or if Mysterio would be joining the WWE roster on a more regular basis. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter now reports that Mysterio and WWE are in talks about working together in a greater capacity. For now, the Greatest Royal Rumble appearance will be another one-shot deal.

In the event that Mysterio and WWE reach a new deal, it likely would not take effect until the summer, since Mysterio has commitments with New Japan Pro Wrestling and other independent promotions that he first needs to fulfill.

WWE has yet to confirm the news of Rey Mysterio competing at the Greatest Royal Rumble event on 4/27.

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion To Appear At Greatest Royal Rumble Event

WWE fans can expect to see one popular former WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event.

By now it’s obvious that the sports entertainment company is loading up this show to make a first good impression with their partners in Saudi Arabia.

PWinsider.com is reporting that Rey Mysterio is slated to appear at the event. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if he will be wrestling at the show.

If you recall, the former World Champion was set for a meeting with Triple H at WWE headquarters several weeks ago to finalize a new contract after his big surprise return at the Royal Rumble in January. However, that meeting did not happen due to the fact that Triple H needed to go to Saudi Arabia to finalize the new contract there that would see WWE produce live events.

Then it was revealed that Rey had suffered a torn bicep and was pulled from his match with Jushin Liger at NJPW Strong Style Evolved. Even though he didn’t wrestle at the event, the former WWE Champion did do an in-ring promo.

As of this writing, Mysterio has yet to make a deal with the WWE.

The WWE Greatest Royal Rumble event takes place on Friday, April 27, 2018 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah International Stadium and will air on the WWE Network with a special start time of 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT with the event airing one hour later. Ex-World Champ Being Rumored To Partner With Braun Strowman At WrestleMania

Braun Strowman is the number one contender for Cesaro and Sheamus’ RAW Tag Team Championships – without a partner.

Strowman won a Tag Team Battle Royal several weeks ago on Monday Night RAW to earn the opportunity. He now needs to find a partner to challenge for the titles at WrestleMania 34 against The Bar.

There has been a ton of speculation as to who Strowman could partner with, but a recent report from Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated suggests that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio could make his return to the company to be “The Monster Among Men’s” partner.

Vince McMahon is reportedly strongly considering the possibility as he likes the big guy and little guy dynamic that he has used in the past.

It was also noted that if Mysterio returned to WWE, it would be under a short-term deal. Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently noted that Mysterio and WWE are still in negotiations, but nothing has been brought up regarding a WrestleMania match.
