Ric Flair Says He’s Not Slowing Down, Will Never Grow Old (Video)

Ric Flair was forced to withdraw from “the Roast of Ric Flair” which was to be featured at Starrcast II last weekend. Flair underwent heart surgery last week and was advised against traveling from Atlanta to Vegas for the convention.

Flair recently published a video on his YouTube channel, updating fans on his condition, and promising not to slow down.

“First of all, thank you to my beautiful family, to all my friends, to all the doctors, nurses, everybody that brought me back again,” Flair said. “It’s a miracle again!”

Ric Flair Is Not Slowing Down

Flair promised this recent health scare will not slow him down.

“I’m living here to tell you that the kiss-stealing, wheeling-dealing, limousine-riding, jet-flying, son of a gun, is not going to change, slow down, I’m moving forward. I got autographs to sign, commercials to make, pictures to take, friends to have a cold beer with, and I mean 2 cold beers if it’s Stone Cold.”

Flair then went on to say he knows who had his back and who did not. He added that he’ll answer more questions on that later. He then turned his attention to his daughter, Charlotte.

“I’m also not going to be afraid to tell you that the Queen is the greatest wrestler in the history of the female division, that’s just a fact,” Flair said.

Ric Flair Returns Home Following Surgery

Ric Flair underwent successful surgery this week and has returned home. The Nature Boy posted the following on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon:

Flair and Starrcast were forced to postpone the Roast of Ric Flair to a later date. Flair is expected to make a full recovery, however, and will be back to his normal routine shortly.

Ric Flair Returns Home

The situation with Flair was addressed recently by Conrad Thompson in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

“When Ric and I spoke last week, he assumed his procedure would be a one-day surgery. When the complications became apparent, my first thought was for my family, not a convention. At the same time, it felt premature and poor taste to make an announcement about the event before we knew the extent of his health situation.”

Thompson stressed the event is postponed and not canceled.

“It’s not canceled, but it is postponed,” said Thompson. “This is not the last you’ve heard of ‘The Roast of Ric Flair.’ We’ve invested too much time, effort, and energy to ever cancel, but unfortunately, it will not be happening this weekend in Las Vegas.”

Thompson continued to say Flair will be back to his normal routine in short order.

Ric Flair Undergoes Successful Heart Surgery

We have some positive news to share regarding WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair as TMZ reported on Monday evening that the legendary pro wrestler is currently recovering after undergoing successful heart surgery earlier today.

Flair’s wife Wendy Barlow told the media outlet that the operation was a success. She took the time to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time for their family.

It was added that Flair’s doctors are optimistic that he will make a full recovery. Despite this setback, he’s been good spirits over the past few days as he has spoken with some of his friends including Offset, who is a rapper.

Flair’s hospitalization all started last Thursday when he had a medical emergency. This led to him suffering complications that they were working around and the surgery being postponed until today.

As a result of this surgery, the pro wrestling legend had to back out of the Starrcast II weekend and “The Roast of Ric Flair.” He wasn’t healthy enough to make the trip by Friday evening to Las Vegas, Nevada.

As of this writing, there is currently no word yet on if the roast will be re-scheduled. We wish Flair a speedy recovery.

Ric Flair To Pull Out of Starrcast Roast, Update On Condition

Ric Flair is expected to undergo a medical procedure today. He was originally scheduled to have the procedure done last week but it was postponed due to complications. According to a report from TMZ, Flair is in good spirits and expected to make a full recovery but he has had to pull out of the planned “Roast of Ric Flair” scheduled for Starrcast this weekend.

“A spokesperson for Flair tells us … unfortunately, Ric won’t be healthy enough by Friday evening to make the trip from Atlanta to Vegas,” the report reads.

As of this writing, Starrcast has yet to confirm the news.

Ric Flair Health Update

TMZ originally reported last week that Flair had been rushed to hospital due to an emergency medical situation. This was later refuted by Conrad Thomspon and Wendy Barlow, Flair’s wife and son-in-law. They stated this was a planned medical procedure.

Wendy Barlow released the following statement regarding Flair’s condition:

“Due to ongoing health complications, Ric was taken to the hospital and is expected to undergo a procedure tomorrow morning, after which he expects to fully recover.”

She would later address the procedure’s postponement.

“Ric’s surgery has been postponed until Monday to address some complications that needed to be taken care of first,” Barlow’s statement reads. “Thanks for all the well wishes.”

Conrad Thompson had the following to say regarding Flair’s condition yesterday:

“Ric was not worried about this,” said Thompson. “Ric did not think this was going to be reported or on TMZ. It’s all systems go. The Roast of Ric Flair is still happening”

Ric Flair Medical Procedure Postponed Due To Complications

Ric Flair’s wife Wendy Barlow recently released a statement regarding the medical condition of the 16x World Champion.

“Ric’s surgery has been postponed until Monday to address some complications that needed to be taken care of first,” Barlow’s statement reads. “Thanks for all the well wishes.”

Ric Flair Medical Procedure

There were some conflicting reports regarding the 70-year old’s condition yesterday. The initial report from TMZ stated that Flair had been rushed to an Atlanta-area hospital due to a serious medical emergency. Conrad Thompson would later refute the severity of the Flair’s condition, however. Thompson stated that the procedure was planned ahead of time. He also noted that Flair was looking to have it done before he is roasted at Starrcast II next week.

“Due to ongoing health complications, Ric was taken to the hospital and is expected to undergo a procedure tomorrow morning, after which he expects to fully recover,” a statement from Wendy Barlow released yesterday reads.

It is not clear what procedure Flair is having done. It has been mentioned that he has been dealing with some heart-related issues, however.

“Ric was not worried about this,” said Thompson. “Ric did not think this was going to be reported or on TMZ. It’s all systems go. The Roast of Ric Flair is still happening”

Ric Flair’s Wife Releases Statement On His Hospitalization

Earlier yesterday the reports of Ric Flair being rushed to the hospital made some headlines and left fans worried about the Nature Boy’s health.

Later reports, thankfully, suggested that the 16 Time World Champion’s condition was not that serious and now a new statement seems to be backing these claims up.

Ric’s wife Wendy Barlow released a statement to TMZ in which she revealed that Flair’s complications were ongoing and he expects full recovery after the procedure:

“Due to ongoing health complications, Ric was taken to the hospital and is expected to undergo a procedure tomorrow morning, after which he expects to fully recover.”

This report is in line with Ric Flair’s son in law Conrad Thompson’s update on the matter who had said that the situation was not as serious as it was made out to be.

According to him, Flair’s procedure was pre-planned and the former WWE Star intended to get it done before his roast at Starrcast II in Las Vegas next week.

While not all the details regarding his health are available, it’s said that the former World Champion has been dealing with some heart issues and the procedure is expected to address that.

We wish a complete and speedy recovery for Ric Flair.

Ric Flair Hospitalized For Medical Procedure

TMZ Sports reported this morning that Ric Flair was rushed to an Atlanta hospital for a medical emergency. In an update to this situation, Conrad Thompson spoke on his father-in-law Ric Flair’s condition during today’s Starrcast media call. He noted that the situation is not as serious as first reported by TMZ. Thompson noted that Flair planned to have the medical procedure done before his roast at Starrcast in Las Vegas.

Although details on Flair’s procedure are not available, Thompson noted that Flair has been dealing with some heart trouble as of late and the procedure was being done to address that.

The original report from TMZ Sports can be viewed below:

Ric Flair’s 2017 Medical Scare

Flair was hospitalized back in 2017. He suffered a ruptured intestine and was placed in a medically induced coma for 11 days.

Flair was in critical condition at the time and was fighting for his life, at one point being given a small chance of survival. However, the 16-time World Champion pulled through. In the subsequent months, Flair looked to be in great health, even marrying his longtime girlfriend Wendy Barlow.

“The Nature Boy” also celebrated his 70th birthday on an episode of Monday Night RAW, participating in a big angle to set up Batista and Triple H’s WrestleMania 35 match – which he was also briefly involved in.

We’ll keep you updated on Flair’s condition as more information becomes available.

AJ Styles Sends Warning To Seth Rollins, Interesting Ric Flair Trademarks

AJ Styles Sends Warning To Seth Rollins

It didn’t take AJ Styles long to find himself in a championship match for the top title on the flagship show of WWE, Monday Night RAW.

Styles is slated to challenge WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins for the strap at the upcoming at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event. The former WWE Champion took to his official Twitter account to comment on the contest by writing:

Ric Flair Offers Advice To AEW Executives

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has given some advice to the executives of AEW (All Elite Wrestling) officials while preparing for their inaugural event.

The promotion, which launched back in February, is set to hold Double or Nothing the event, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25, 2019.

Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho in a rematch from their contest at Wrestle Kingdom in 2018 and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) vs. Lucha Bros. (Penta El Zero M and Rey Fénix) are being billed as the top two matches.

While taking part in an interview with CBSSports.com, the legendary pro wrestling made it known that he thinks AEW is a good thing for the pro wrestling business. His mindset is that if there is an opportunity for guys to work who are qualified and have been trained properly in a position to be somewhat successful in their attempt to work for either company, then he’s all for it.

“I don’t think [AEW] should focus on the competition [with WWE] as much as just developing their own product. Their success will come from that. The word competition is great. People love that part of time in the world, but this will be the first time someone with the kind of money that [Jacksonville Jaguars co-owner] Tony [Khan] brings.”

Flair praised Tony Khan for being a sophisticated, intelligent, well-bred version of himself with money.

“Now that he has the joint over in England [as co-owner of the Premier League team Fulham FC], I’m sure he has kissed girls all over the world and made them cry. If I had Tony’s bankroll in the ’80s, who knows where I would have been.”

Ric Flair Reveals His Reaction To Charlotte’s WrestleMania Entrance

Ric Flair recently had an interview with CBSSport in order to promote the upcoming Roast Of Ric Flair special which will be headlining Starrcast II in Las Vegas.

During the interview, Flair talked about a number of things and revealed that he cried during WrestleMania when his daughter Charlotte Flair recreated one of his most iconic entrances during the show.

Charlotte Flair arrived in the arena in a helicopter which was a callback to Ric’s iconic entrance at the inaugural Great American Bash in 1985 and according to the 16-time world champion, he cried for the whole week since it first came about:

“I probably cried the whole week; I’ve been crying since it first came about, I’m so thankful to WWE, from Vince [McMahon] to Hunter [Paul Levesque] and Stephanie [McMahon] and all the powers-that-be who put that together and taking that step forward with the woman.”

Apart from this Ric Flair also talked about the recently launched All Elite Wrestling promotion, saying that the company should focus on developing their own product rather than competing with WWE.

Continuing on the topic, Flair compared the promotion’s president Tony Khan to
himself, saying that Khan is a “sophisticated, intelligent, well-bred ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair with money.”

Starrcast II will take place on Friday, May 24th at the Cesars Palace in Las Vegas NV, during the AEW Double Or Nothing weekend.

The Roast of Ric Flair to Headline Starrcast II

The Roast of Ric Flair has been announced as the headline attraction of next month’s Starrcast II convention in Las Vegas.

The Nature Boy will be in the hot seat Friday night, May 24th at Cesars Palace. Comedian Ron Funches will host. The pay-per-view event will stream live at FITE.tv.

Flair will be roasted by some of the biggest names in professional wrestling and comedy. The 16-time-world champion has cleaned up his hard-partying ways, but he still has fond memories of running wild in Sin City.

“I’ve got a lot of history with Caesar’s Palace,” Flair tells CBS Sports. “Oh God, it was a regular stop in the 80s and 90. I’m lucky to be here and every day is a blessing. But one of those reasons is Las Vegas. I’ve had a couple of drinks in that town!”

Starrcast II is the wrestling convention taking place in Las Vegas, NV during AEW: Double or Nothing weekend. For more details on the convention, visit Starrcast.com.

WWE “Watch Along” With Ric Flair To Air During WrestleMania 35

Think WrestleMania would be more fun if you could hear Ric Flair’s thoughts about it live in real-time? WWE will present “Watch Along” tomorrow night live on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter during WrestleMania 35.

The show will be hosted by Pat McAfee and include guests such as Ric Flair, the Big Show, Candice LeRae and the newly crowned NXT Champion, Johnny Gargano.

“Ever wanted to watch WrestleMania with Ric Flair?” A WWE press release for the show reads. “You’ll get the chance on Sunday night when WWE Watch Along streams live on WWE’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitter during WrestleMania 35!”

WrestleMania 35 Watch Along

Considering his daughter is in the main event, Ric Flair might even give his live thoughts as Charlotte Flair takes on Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey.

Charlotte Flair Reflects On Her Father’s Reaction To WrestleMania Main Event

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is set to make history as she will step into the ring with Becky Lynch and WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. This Winner Takes All match will serve as the headliner of WrestleMania 35.

Flair recently did an interview with Sporting News to promote WrestleMania 35. During the interview, she talked about the way that her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, reacted to the match and the position that WWE has put them in.

This is a big deal considering that WWE has never booked women in the main event of their biggest event of the year.

“My dad is my biggest fan, my biggest supporter, my best friend. He truly understands what it has been like in the journey, with the ups and downs and helping me every day in how to get better, what I need to do to get better, what I did to get here. He’s been so connected with what it has taken me to get here that … he just said, ‘You deserve it, and you did it all on your own.’ He emphasizes that every single day that ‘You did this all on your own. This has nothing to do with me.’ And just, ‘I’m proud of you.’”

WWE presents the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium that will air on the WWE Network.

Ric Flair Undergoing Surgery Today

During last night’s halftime show for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks vs. Denver Nuggets game, Charles Barkley revealed two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair will be undergoing surgery today (Fri. March 15, 2019). Barkley offered well wishes to Flair before his operation, which was followed by some “Whoos!” from the crowd.

PWInsider confirmed this with a report, saying Flair is, in fact, undergoing surgery today. The nature of Flair’s situation remains unknown, however. It’s unclear why exactly Flair is undergoing surgery today, or if it’s related to his 2017 health scare. The 16-time World Champion had a significant piece of his bowel removed after an intestinal blockage.

Flair was hospitalized for over a month after the surgery. There was a point where doctors gave “The Nature Boy” a slim chance at survival. However, Flair returned to full health several weeks later. He also had an external pacemaker inserted in order to help his heart beat normally. We’ll keep you updated on Flair’s status as more information continues to be made available.

What are your thoughts on Flair undergoing surgery today?

Batista Responds To Ric Flair’s Warning

Batista has responded to the warning that was sent out earlier today by WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion took to his official Twitter account where he wrote his response, which was, “Party’s just gettin started my man.”

https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/1100518364412370944

Before the legendary pro wrestler was able to walk out to the ring for his birthday celebration on Monday’s episode of RAW in Atlanta, GA at the State Farm Arena, Batista attacked him in his locker room and dragged out to the hallway.

“The Animal” is one of the most successful WWE Superstars of all time as he has won six WWE World Titles, a four-time WWE Tag Team Champion, and a two-time Royal Rumble winner (2005 and 2014).

Before this return and appearance on SmackDown Live for the 1000 episode in October, he was not seen on WWE television since late 2014. During his time away, he had expressed interest in a potential match with Triple H one more time.

It appears that he’ll get his wish granted at WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium and airs on WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network.

This angle is likely the start of the program between Batista and Triple H that will ultimately lead to a match at the biggest event of the year for the WWE.

Ric Flair Reacts To Batista’s Attack on RAW

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has broken his silence on the storyline attack by former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Batista during Monday’s episode of RAW in Atlanta, GA at the State Farm Arena.

It was hyped to be a night where the company was celebrating his life and career but before he was able to walk out to the ring, Batista attacked him in his locker room and dragged out to the hallway.

Flair took to social media to thank everyone for throwing him a ‘wonderful birthday celebration.’ He also addressed Batista directly.

“I Want To Thank WWE For Throwing Such A Wonderful Birthday Celebration With Some Of My Closest Friends. As For Batista … Be Careful Whose Party You Crash, Big Man! #WOOOOO.”

This appears to be the start of the program between Batista and Triple H that will ultimately lead to a match at WrestleMania 35, which is the biggest event of the year for the WWE. This show goes down on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium and airs on WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network.

Triple H’s reaction to this attack is expected to be aired on next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

WWE Filming New Documentary at RAW

WWE will be showcasing a new documentary on Hall of Famer Ric Flair at some point in the near future. WWE Network cameras were on hand for last night’s RAW show in Atlanta. The Network team were filming material for the new Nature Boy documentary as Flair celebrated his 70th birthday, according to PWInsider.

WWE reportedly conducted sit-down interviews with several personalities during the afternoon. Several top names were brought in for the Flair birthday celebrations, including Sting, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Shawn Michaels. Others who would likely appear on the documentary are Batista and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Regular roster members will also likely be playing a part in the upcoming programme. Although we do not have confirmation of who will be taking part as of writing.

Speaking of ‘The Animal’ Batista, he appeared in a backstage segment and attacked Flair. This was to kickstart the feud between Triple H and Batista, which will likely lead to a bout at this year’s WrestleMania. Both men appeared in an Evolution segment for Smackdown Live’s 1000th episode back in October.

Former WCW Champion David Arquette was also at this week’s show. Flair tweeted an image with Arquette and his wife Wendy Barlow backstage.

Sting, Shawn Michaels Among Stars Appear For Ric Flair’s Birthday Celebration

WWE held a birthday celebration for WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair on Monday’s episode of RAW in Atlanta, GA at the State Farm Arena.

There were several notable names that made an appearance on this show for the segment. Those names include Shawn Michaels, Sting, Ricky Steamboat, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Kurt Angle, and Batista.

It all started with McMahon and Triple H walking out to the ring that had a cake and balloons where they would introduce guests as well as Flair. A video package aired to show some of the biggest moments from his legendary career in the pro wrestling business.

They also created a custom World Title Belt. Just as Flair was about to walk out to the ring for his celebration, we see Batista dragging a cameraman to the locker room of Flair and he pulled out the pro wrestling legendary who had been attacked. He asked Triple H if he got his attention and then left. This closed the show.

Flair was last seen on WWE television when he appeared on the SmackDown 1000th episode for an Evolution appearance back a few months back alongside Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.

It’s always great to see “The Nature Boy” considering the major health issues that he suffered in August 2017. The most serious complications were kidney failure, necessitating dialysis treatment and ongoing hospitalization. Flair had surgery in Georgia to remove an obstructive piece of his bowel back in December.

New #1 Contenders For RAW Tag Team Titles

There are new #1 contenders for the WWE RAW Tag Team Titles, which are currently held by Bobby Roode and Chad Gable. During this week’s episode in Portland, OR at the Moda Center, Heavy Machinery defeated Lucha House Party, The Revival, and The B-Team in a Fatal 4-Way Match to become the top team to challenge for the straps next.

As of this writing, WWE has yet to confirm when Roode and Gable will defend the titles against the main roster newcomers. But it could come as soon as the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event that takes place on February 17, 2019 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Charlotte Flair Wasn’t Allowed To Act Like Her Father In Developmental

Charlotte Flair has had an extremely successful career with WWE thus far. The 32-year-old started her professional wrestling career back in 2012. She signed with WWE and was sent to developmental in NXT. Throughout her years in the company, Flair has already established herself as one of the best female competitors of all time. The former NXT Women’s Champion is also a former Divas Champion, a four-time RAW Women’s Champion, and a two-time SmackDown Live Women’s Champion.

Being the daughter of two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair, it’s no surprise how talented “The Queen” has been given her bloodline. Currently, Flair often pays homage to her father inside the ring on a regular basis. From regularly “Wooooo’ing” to utilizing her Figure Eight Leg Lock as one of her finishers, a play off of Ric Flair’s old Figure Four submission maneuver. However, Flair wasn’t always allowed to use any of her father’s old signatures.

Developmental Restrictions

Speaking to SportsBible recently, Flair revealed that she actually wasn’t allowed to act like her father in developmental:

“Truly that’s why I am here celebrating today because I am NXT homegrown. I know my dad’s Ric Flair but when I showed up at FCW/NXT, I didn’t know anything about wrestling – I didn’t watch it, I didn’t study it, I didn’t know the history of it – I just knew I liked my dad and he was a wrestler.

“If you take a clean slate like me, even though I played division one volleyball, the performance centre molded me. Yes, I had the last name but I wasn’t allowed to woo, I wasn’t allowed to chop and I couldn’t do the figure four.

“I couldn’t do anything like my dad, and I think they were like, ‘Wow she’s got the it factor, maybe she can carry the name’. They’ve molded a professional wrestler from nothing is how I look at it.”

What do you think about Flair not being allowed to act like her father in developmental?

WWE Hall Of Famer Reportedly Set For Raw (Potential Spoiler)

WWE could be bringing in another big name for this Monday’s Raw. According to a report from PW Insider, Ric Flair is booked for the show. WWE is bringing Hulk Hogan in for the show as well, reportedly as part of a planned tribute for “Mean” Gene Okerlund.

Ric Flair Pays Tribute To “Mean” Gene Okerlund

Flair is likely coming in to pay tribute to “Mean” Gene Okerlund. He paid tribute to his friend earlier this week as well. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Flair said the following:

“Friend would be too generic a term for us,” said Flair. “We were more than friends, we were brothers. We were tied to each other for years. If I was going somewhere, and I knew Gene Okerlund was there, I made sure I found him.”

“In my opinion, Gene Okerlund added more entertainment to the business than anybody. Gene made our product better. You can be good at what you do, but Gene was so good that he made the people around him better. Gene brought that to every segment he was on for his entire career. It’s hard to explain how much talent he had. Gene was entertainment-ready, witty beyond belief, sophisticated, and I’ve never seen anybody else like him.”

Ric Flair On Raw

This Monday’s show will take place from the Amway Center in Orlando, Fl. Also booked for the show is John Cena’s return to Raw. Cena was also on last week’s Smackdown. The Revival will take on Roode and Gable in a lumberjack match for the Raw tag titles this week as well. Alexa Bliss will also debut a new talk show “A Moment of Bliss” on this week’s show.

Bully Ray Discusses John Cena Breaking Ric Flair’s Championship Record

John Cena has accomplished an undeniable amount during his time with WWE. A multiple time champion, an irrefutable megastar, and now an up-and-coming actor in Hollywood, John Cena has done more than most could hope to dream of within the company. He’s been a trendsetter and a record breaker over the many years, acting as an almost constant mainstay within WWE’s main event scene.

There is, however, one thing Cena hasn’t broken: Ric Flair’s legendary championship record.

On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer, and current ROH wrestler, Bully Ray discussed the possibility of John Cena surpassing Flair’s long-standing record. The two are currently tied at sixteen reigns.

“There is going to be a large portion of wrestling fans who might not want to see John win since they don’t want to see Ric Flair’s record broken,” Bully Ray said.

“Listen, it’s tied right now, so the best way to get out of that is to have Flair endorse it, Bully explained. “You have that final sit down between John Cena and Ric Flair where John is torn whether or not he really wants to do this. Does he really want to break the record out of respect for Ric?”

“Then Ric is the one who talks to him and smacks him in the face and tells him, ‘You go out there and break that record.’ When he wins, Ric Flair hands him the championship. That’s a mega moment. That’s a WrestleMania moment!”

What do you think? Should Cena surpass this record, or are some things just too sacred?
