I went to a cardiologist friend who told me that when your heart pumps, it expands like a rubber band. But mine was doing it too much. Initially, I thought that steroids might be responsible, but the doctor dismissed this theory. My heaert was fluttering from thirty-fivbe years of hitting it hard.

WWE producer Michael Hayes visited Flair in the hospital on Sunday and also asked for people to keep Ric Flair in their thoughts and prayers.

The wrestling world is obviously shaken by the news, with several past and present WWE performers showing their support for the one-and-only Nature Boy.

Styles, and Seth Rollins before going on to explain his picks:

“It’s one of four people: Randy Orton, A.J. Styles, my daughter, and Seth Rollins. I didn’t even have to think twice about that”

“Orton is just one of the most gifted guys I’ve ever seen. Orton brings the whole package. He’s 6’4?, phenomenal body, he’s a good talker and a phenomenal in-ring performer. Seth Rollins is the same, just a little bit smaller. A.J. is close to being Shawn Michaels in terms of work ethic. He’s really good and his interviews have gotten better. And then, my daughter…I’m not pushing her. She doesn’t need me to push her. You’ve seen her, she’s real good. The other girls just have a hard time keeping up with her.”

DDP On Ric Flair’s Generosity, Terry Funk Wrestling Again, Scott Hall & Jake Roberts

Diamond Dallas Page recently spoke to CBS Sports about DDP Yoga and a few wrestling topics. Below are some of the highlights:

Terry Funk wrestling again at 73 years old:

[Laughs] “I’m going to call Terry. You know, one of my biggest supporters is Gerry Briscoe. He’s 70-ish now. He’s a former world champion and wrestled since he was six years old and had a really beat-up body. The last time I saw him at WrestleMania, he looked like Tommy Lee Jones. He looked like a million bucks. He’s the biggest advocate, along with Mick Foley. And Chris Jericho, he’s 46 and bumping around like he’s 23. Now, as much I love Terry, no one bumped around anymore than he did, but he ain’t going to be bumping around like he’s 23. It’s just because he misses it so much. He could get away with it his whole life because he’s so believable. He’s one of the nicest guys on the planet and another Hall of Famer. If there’s a way to see it on the internet, and he’s going to get in there, I’m going to watch. I’m going to call him and tell him I’m going to send him my DVDs, because I know they can really help him.”

Scott Hall & Jake Roberts:

“Scott still has bumps along the road. Even though he did really well with his transformation, but he never really wanted to stop drinking. He did, and he still will, but he doesn’t want to. Jake does. Probably since the movie (The Resurrection of Jake the Snake), he’s fallen once or twice. Technically he’s been sober for five years and without a bump for two or three years. Jake realizes that he doesn’t want to be that guy and Scott occasionally forgets that.

I feel that it’s part of finding yourself. I’ve seen Scott at that point, and a lot of people have seen friends and family there. They’ve seen the person so close, and they’ve been sober for so long, and then they fall. Well, sometimes there are some little twitches or something that sets them off. Or, like I said, they don’t want to quit drinking. I could never have helped either one of them at the time if they didn’t want to. All I know is that it enabled them to both wind up where they belong which is in the Hall of Fame.”

Ric Flair’s generosity and an epic story:

“I made sure Ric knew how thankful I was to him [at the WWE Hall of Fame]. Even though Ric and I have had adversity with each other over the years and said some things we probably both wish we could take back. We’re in a really good spot today, and I think the world of him. I wanted him to know that him putting me over for that world title, I know it put me one step closer to that Hall of Fame podium, and I will never forget it.

Ric and I, we had such a good time when we were up there. I ran into him a couple times at the Hall of Fame. On the last night before we were going, he asks what time my wife and I are leaving. He asks what time our flight was and I said 7:30.

Now, we’re both at the bar, and it’s 12:30 and I’m getting ready to go crash. He said, “Woo! Who made that reservation?” I said it wasn’t me. He goes, “Forget that. I’ve got a Learjet. You’re coming with me. You and [your wife] Brenda.” I said, “Ric, I’ve got so many bags” and he said, “FedEx them home. You’re not taking that flight!”

So, Mr. Limousine Riding, Jet Flying us home in his Learjet. Then when he found out it was the day before my birthday, he took us both out to his favorite restaurant. We both live in the Atlanta area. He fed us and then sent us home in a limousine. It was the perfect punctuation to an unbelievable career and Hall of Fame weekend. It was amazing.”

Ric Flair Doesn’t Think John Cena Will Break His World Title Record

Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair recently did an interview with WSVN-TV Entertainment Reporter Chris Van Vliet to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics. During the interview Flair claimed he doesn’t think John Cena will break his 16 time World Title record, who he thinks is the most talented Superstar on the WWE’s roster today, and how different his career would have been if he was in today’s era. You can check out what he had to say here below:

If he thinks John Cena will break his 16 time World Title record:

“No. Randy Orton is close, so is Triple H. I think John is kind of winding down. He’s got so many other things going on. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not a host on Good Morning America or The Today Show. I mean he loves wrestling but he’s got so diversified now that I don’t think I’ll see him chasing the Championship realm. But if he does, I’m all about it.”

Who he thinks is the most talented Superstar on the WWE roster:

“Well gosh I think my daughter’s the best male or female they have. I like AJ Styles, I like Randy very much. I like Seth Rollins, I think he’s very good. I love Dolph Ziggler. They have a lot of great talent and it’s hard to pick just one. I have a lot of respect for them and they work really hard.”

How much different his career would have turned out if he broke into the business during this era:

“They wouldn’t be able to afford me. If I was 25 right now and came along, there’s not enough money. He’d have to give me part of the company. If I could walk in like I was in the 80s, make no mistake, he’d have to give me part of the company.”

ESPN’s Ric Flair ’30 for 30′ Premiere Date & Trailer

ESPN Films announced Wednesday that its 30 for 30 documentary on wrestling legend Ric Flair — titled “Nature Boy” — will premiere on Tuesday, November 7, at 10 p.m.

A press release for the documentary was also released.

ESPN Films’ Ric Flair 30 for 30 “Nature Boy” Premieres November 7

ESPN Films announced today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour (TCA) that its 30 for 30 documentary “Nature Boy,” on wrestling legend Ric Flair, will premiere on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN. Director Rory Karpf (“I Hate Christian Laettner,” “The Book of Manning”) will take an inside look at Flair’s story, including his triumphs, his tragedies, and his pivotal role in turning pro wrestling into mainstream sports entertainment.

Real or Fake? It’s a question that’s long shadowed professional wrestling. But for one of the industry’s most legendary performers, there’s never been any separation between the ring and the world around it. His story starts in the Midwest, when a young Richard Fliehr set his sights on rising to stardom in a unique world, and decided to do anything necessary to get to where he wanted. A character was born, along with a singular desire “to be the man,” and a drive that made him as popular and polarizing as any figure ever to step into the ring. The success took a considerable toll – on his body, and on his wives and children – and in 2013 came a tragic postscript. But today, Flair remains as defiant as ever, proud of his legacy, eager to remain in the spotlight. This is the story of a man, a character, and their unbreakable connection.

“This film was basically borne out of working with Rory Karpf on our ‘I Hate Christian Laettner’ documentary,” says 30 for 30 Executive Producer John Dahl. “Rory interviewed Ric for his take on sports villains and wanted to do a film on him next. After watching that interview for the Laettner film, we were convinced that Ric would be a fascinating subject to explore for our first feature-length 30 for 30 on a pro wrestler.”

“Nature Boy” features two in-depth conversations between Karpf and Flair over a 16-month span, surrounded by interviews with those closest to the man himself; including Triple H, Hulk Hogan, Ricky Steamboat, Baby Doll, Tully Blanchard, The Undertaker, Arn Anderson, Shawn Michaels, Sting and Road Warrior Animal as well as his first wife, Leslie Jacobs, and children along with others who know Flair best.

“I grew up a huge wrestling fan in the 1980s and I was captivated by Ric Flair,” says director Rory Karpf. “It’s been a personally rewarding experience to tell the story of arguably the greatest wrestler of all time. Ric’s story transcends the wrestling business, and my hope is that it will appeal to wrestling and non-wrestling fans alike.”

Ex-NWA Referee on The Time Ric Flair Had an ‘Accident’ in His Tights During Match

Legendary NWA and Jim Crockett Promotions referee, Tommy Young, was recently a guest on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast to promote the return of the Crockett Foundation Tag Team Tournament tomorrow night (Sat. July 15, 2017) in New Kent, Virginia. During the interview, Young told a hilarious story about the time two-time WWE Hall Of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair had an accident inside his tights during a match against Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.

Apparently Flair ate a little too close to match time and couldn’t ‘hold his load.’ You can check out what he had to say here:

“If you watched a Flair/Steamboat match, they rarely went home before the 40 minute time mark. These guys always wrestled for a good while and sometimes they’d go 45-50 minuets.

“There was a situation one time where Flair had an accident and he ate too close to the matches and I don’t want to get too graphic because I have talked about this before but I think we’ve all had a situation in our life where we couldn’t hold our load so to speak (laughing) and had an accident in our britches, it has happened to me and on this particular night it happened to Ric and we were in a SOLD OUT Charlotte Coliseum and about 12,000 people in there and it wasn’t like: “OH! Gotta go, gotta go.”

“They went another 7-8 minuets and needless to say things didn’t smell too good but it was a bad situation and the only time that it ever happened.”

Ric Flair Talks Partying With Randy Orton & Batista

WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair was recently a part of the WWE Network exclusive show Table For 3, alongside Randy Orton and Bruno Sammartino, to talk about his time in the industry. You can check out some of the highlights here:

Partying with Randy Orton and Batista during their days in Evolution:

“I used to be able to get him. Now, he’s all calmed down, when I was hanging out with him and Batista, I had more fun. Hunter was always kind of… he had his own thing, but [Orton] and Dave [Batista] had a whole different gig going on. Two young, handsome guys. I’d just take Batista to the bar and he’d take his shirt off for all the chicks!” Flair added, “I was living my life vicariously through these two guys!”

Wanting Orton to retire soon so he can get his third Hall Of Fame ring:

“Well, here’s the deal. I want you to retire as soon as you can. God knows you’ve got enough money, okay? So I can get my third [WWE Hall Of Fame] ring when they induct Evolution, okay?”

Ric Flair Comments On Being Thrown Out Of A Bar For Disorderly Conduct

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair called into the Dan Le Batard show on Friday and commented on the recent reports that he was thrown out of a Ft. Wayne, Indiana bar last week for disorderly conduct.

The bartender says, “Are you telling me how to bartend?” And Flair replied, “Not if I don’t have to, dumba–.”  The bartender questioned if Flair really just called him a dumbass.

“I can call you a dumba–, or a fat a–. Both work.”

Flair admits the manager approached him, but says he left on his own and wasn’t kicked out of banned. H/T to ESPN.com for the quotes.

Over the past several years, it’s become an annual tradition that WWE honors a wrestling legend with a larger than life sized bronze statue in their image. Past subjects include Andre The Giant, Bruno Sammartino, Dusty Rhodes and the Ultimate Warrior.

This year, it will be none other than 16-time World Champion Ric Flair being immortalized in bronze.
