WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:
Terry Funk Inducting Mick Foley:
“Great choice by Mick Foley to select Terry Funk to induct Mr. Foley’s baby boy at the 2013 WWE HOF induction ceremony. The Funker is Mick’s mentor and idol. I think it’s pretty cool when a Hall of Fame inductee can actually have their all time favorite wrestler, their father like figure within the business and their role model as it relates to in ring style and approach to the game induct them.”
Ric Flair’s Medical Situation:
“Got a text from Ric Flair early this morning and Naitch is feeling great and has been provided medication to dissolve the blood clot that is in his leg. The doctor’s are highly optimistic that the meds will do the trick and eliminate a potentially, dangerous issue. Ric and I will get together Wednesday evening in Jersey to catch up which is one of our WrestleMania traditions.”
Fandango vs. Y2J:
“Fandango is a lightning rod right now because many or perhaps a few vocal ‘fans’ don’t like the TV persona even though they have yet to see it fully on display in a match of significance. I’m of the persuasion that I’ll reserve my opinions until I actually see the talent get it on bell to bell. Chris Jericho is the perfect opponent to perform with Fandango at WM29 because Jericho is all about stealing the show ala the great @ShawnMichaels no matter Y2J’s role. Fandango can also expect Jericho to beat the hell out of him along the way. Believe that!”
The Rock vs. John Cena:
“Enjoying the serious nature that the Rock/Cena rivalry has taken the past few weeks and it is a departure from 2012 or so it seems to me. Closing a WrestleMania with such high expectations and having a ‘different’ match than last year are tremendous responsibilities notwithstanding the fact that the match is for the WWE Title which should be the primary issue. Cena vs. Rock is a target of varying levels of controversy from some fans but pales in comparison to what their own peers will place upon the show closers in their own matches at WM29.”
After his reported hospitalization on Monday night, Ric Flair’s agent, Melinda Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent and Entertainment, released the following statement regarding his health:
“Ric is doing well, he feels great, and is home. WWE’s medical staff performed a physical on Ric yesterday, like they do all of their athletes, and recommended that he have a doctor take a closer look at his swollen leg.”
“Upon arriving back in Charlotte today he went to see his doctors and it was determined that there is a blood clot. He was not admitted to the hospital, rather released with medication, which the doctors are confident will work quickly causing Ric to completely heal soon.”
“Ric appreciates everyone’s concern and is looking forward to seeing fans at his next scheduled appearance in Hagerstown, MD on Friday and performing for WWE very soon.”

WWE.com has an article up looking at the “Triple H retirement” stipulation that’s been added to his match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 29. The article includes from retired WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels, who talk about the significance of the stipulation:
Ric Flair: “He’s too young to leave the business and has too much left to offer. If he doesn’t wrestle again, no matter how much time he spends in the office working with the company, he’ll be miserable. He needs to be in the ring. That’s who he is. Triple H is a student of this business and has studied and has loved it since he was a young man, and it’s reflected in who he is. And I think he needs to stay active and keep contributing in the ring. He can’t stay backstage or in the office. He’ll get bored with that real fast.”
HBK: “I certainly believe that he’s got plenty of other responsibilities that would keep him busy. I think he would be content. He’s always had a level head on his shoulders — more so than me — so from that standpoint, I think he would. Could he say, ‘absolutely no more, not even here and there’? I don’t know. I think that’s always the million-dollar question for all of us.”

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts on Saturday night’s big UFC fight between George St. Pierre and Nick Diaz. Here are some of the wrestling-related highlights from this entry:
Cruiserweights in WWE: Several asking about if I think that the Cruiserweight division will be returning to WWE any time soon. Answer is that I have no idea but if forced to speculate I’d give that one a no. many wrestlers feel that being labeled a Cruiserweight hampers there professional growth. Plus, it’s another title to attempt to establish which can be challenging.
Ric Flair: Got a nice call this morning from @RicFlairNatrBoy who was in great spirits and talking about how proud he was of his son Reid who is in Japan wrestling for All Japan Pro Wrestling and is apparently learning a great deal and doing well. I’d suggest Reid stay in Japan for a year or longer and really refine his game before attempting to make his mark in the USA. Tough last name to have and even tougher to step away from the shadow of one of the most influential and famous fathers in the history of the business. I’m looking forward to catching up with ‘Naitch’ in a social setting during WrestleMania week.
SmackDown Main Event: I hear that the bout between @RealJackSwagger vs. @IAmJericho this Friday night on Smackdown is a dandy. Anxious to watch it.
His Pipebomb Promo From 1996: Funny how some fans are just discovering my original ‘pipe bomb’ promo from 1996. It pales in comparison to @CMPunk but it was somewhat unique for the day. I remember wearing poor, Jerry Brisco out as we rode together from Philly to Hershey as he had to listen over and over to what I thought I would say.

WWE Hall of Famer (and today’s birthday boy) Ric Flair was at Sunday night’s WWE NXT live event form Melbourne, Florida to accompany his daughter, NXT diva Charlotte, to the ring for her match. During the match, Charlotte performed Flair’s signature figure-four leglock.
Flair told Florida Today that being in his daughter’s corner and watching her wrestle wasone of the most amazing moments of my life.”

Here’s a news report looking at the show, courtesy of FloridaToday.com:
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was interviewed by WTSP.com this week to hype his appearance at Sunday’s WWE NXT live event in Melbourne, Florida at the Melbourne Auditorium.. Here are some highlights of what Flair said about:
His Reaction To His Daughter Ashley Telling Him She Wants To Wrestle:
“She surprised me. I took her to Wrestlemania in Miami in 2012. All my friends have known her forever. She was playing sports in college, and she was an all-American cheerleader. I think just being around all the guys that weekend just sold her on it. Three months later she was in Tampa training. It’s very cool. It runs in the family; her brother is in Tokyo wrestling.”
If He Worries About His Children Getting Into The Business:
“If you worry about getting hurt, you can’t be in this business. They’re both pretty tough, mentally and physically. Ashley may be the best athlete I’ve ever met. All the things she can do, her athletic ability. To be a Division 1 volleyball player, cheerleading and a gymnast. She’s 5-feet-11, weighs 150 pounds with 13 percent body fat.”
How Much He Can Bench Press:
“Right now? Probably 275 or 300 pounds. I haven’t worked out in about 6 or 7 weeks. For my age it’s miraculous. In the old days I used to wrestle every day and work out. Literally 365 days a year, twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday.”
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has asked a judge for a domestic violence protective order against his estranged [4th] wife Jackie, claiming she’s an abusive drunk that has physically beaten him and endangered his life several times.
According to TMZ.com, Flair claims to be terrified of her and named one incident back in 2010 where she attacked him with a glass object and “shattered it over his forehead, cutting him severely, and requiring medical attention.”
Flair signed a separation agreement back in October — in which he promised to pay Jackie tens of thousands of dollars in spousal support. He wants that agreement voided, claiming that her calling him a cheating scumbag cost cost him lucrative wrestling and endorsement contracts, and now he’s unable to make the payments.
As evidence of her excessive drinking and reckless behavior, Flair referenced Jackie’s July 2012 DUI arrest, where she was found to have a blood alcohol level of .22, nearly three times the legal limit.
TMZ.com reached out to Jackie, who told them teh allegations are 100% false and Flair is simply trying to “avoid paying her the money to which she is entitled.”
