– WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is currently in California after returning from Japan over the weekend, where he was in town for an All Japan Pro Wrestling show. Flair was scheduled to wrestle on the show, but was not medically cleared after doctors found a blood clot in his leg during his pre-match physical. Flair was replaced by his son Reid (who was already booked to wrestle a separate match on the card) and watched the match from ringside.

Despite the dangers of taking a 7+ hour flight with a blood clot, Flair was adamant about not wanting to be checked into a Japanese hospital and took the flight anyways.

WWE wanted Ric Flair at this week’s television tapings, but it’s unknown whether he’ll be in Sacramento tonight for SmackDown. Flair is still scheduled to do autograph signings in Las Vegas later this week.

Ric Flair’s In-Ring Return Cancelled Due To Health Concerns

Just hours before he was set to wrestle for All Japan Pro Wrestling, it was announced that Flair would be unable to compete due to medical concerns. During Flair’s pre-match physical, doctors found “suspicion of deep vein thrombosis of the left foot.” There was concern that the blockage could have spread to his heart or brain if he competed and All Japan made the decision to pull him from the show.

Flair was replaced by his son Reid, who was already scheduled to wrestle on the show. Reid and Keiji Mutoh (Great Muta) lost to Tatsumi Fujinami and Seiya Sanada after Sanada hit his This Is It finisher on Flair. Ric Flair was ringside for the match and did get physical at one point, hitting Sanada with his signature chop to the chest.

A lot of fans at the arena were said to be upset over Flair not wrestling as advertised and were asking for refunds.

Ric Flair & Rey Mysterio Not At Monday’s RAW, Talk Of Miz Getting YouTube Show

– With Zack Ryder and Dolph Ziggler’s YouTube shows recently ending and WWE making some changes to their YouTube content offerings, there has been talk of The Miz getting his own YouTube show.

– Speaking of The Miz, his new mentor, Ric Flair, was not at Monday’s RAW from San Jose, California as expected. As of last week, Flair was booked for the show, however the only sign of Flair on RAW was during a video package recapping Flair’s appearance on Miz TV last week. It’s possible that WWE kept Flair off the show because The Miz was booked to lose to Dolph Ziggler in a Beat the Clock match, but that’s just speculation on our part.

Flair was also scheduled to work tonight’s WWE SmackDown tapings from Sacramento before heading to Japan to wrestle for All Japan Pro Wrestling later this week, but it remains to be seen if he’ll appear tonight.

– Rey Mysterio was also not at Monday’s RAW from San Jose. He tweeted the last night that he was headed home to watch RAW with his kids after taking a yoga class. Mysterio worked Friday night’s WWE live event, but is still not considered to be back with WWE full time. His status for the Royal Rumble remains up in the air, despite previous reports that he and Sin Cara would be at the PPV.

The Rock’s WWE Title Win Chances, Ziggler Headed To Australia & More

– WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair tweeted on Thursday, “Loved talking to the kids at Chickamauga Elementary School this morning. Keep up the good work!”

* Comment Below and tell us what you think a “Ric Flair talking to elementary school students” conversation would invovle …

– After Monday’s RAW, Dolph Ziggler will be flying to Australia to do promotional work for WWE.

– On Monday’s 20th Anniversary RAW, we saw The Rock swear to God that he will defeat CM Punk at the Royal Rumble and capture the WWE Championship. Typically, when a babyface guarantees a title win (especially in such dramatic fashion), they do win, so this is a strong indication that The Rock will be victorious next weekend.

As we’ve been reporting in recent weeks, WWE has been considering several different scenarios of how to get the WWE title on the Rock so he can defend it against John Cena at WrestleMania. It was proposed that Punk would retain the title and The Rock would then win it at Elimination Chamber, but now it’s looking like Punk’s title reign could end this month.

The Latest On Ric Flair’s WWE Status & Why He’s Working With The Miz

Following his appearance on Monday’s 20th Anniversary RAW, Ric Flair is still working for WWE without a contract in place. WWE is interested in signing him and it’s possible we’ll see a deal made in the coming weeks. TNA has also sent out feelers to Ric Flair about a possible return, but he’ll will be appearing for WWE over the next few months.

Flair is currently booked next week’s WWE RAW from San Jose, California and the following night’s SmackDown tapings from Sacramento. After that, he heads overseas to Japan for his coming match for All Japan Pro Wrestling.

As for Flair’s appearance on Miz TV, it was done to solidify The Miz a babyface and for Flair to “give” The Miz his Figure Four leg lock as a new finishing move. Flair reportedly joked to The Miz backstage, “I hope they let you beat people with it because I never did.”

A WWE source says we haven’t seen the last of Flair and Miz appearing on television together.

The following is an early preview for Monday’s 20th Anniversary RAW special:

– Jim Ross will be at the show, tweeting the following on Saturday:

– WWE Divas champion Eve Torres will defend against Kaitlyn. A Lumberjill match between these two is rumored for the Royal Rumble, so it’s possible we’ll see Eve get intentionally counted out to set up the Rumble stipulation.

– WWE.com has an interview up with Ric Flair, teasing a confrontation with WWE Champion CM Punk on Monday’s RAW, which is what we reported here earlier this week.

– It was announced on Friday’s SmackDown that The Rock will host a Rock Concert on RAW. Here’s a video promo hyping the concert:

Ric Flair Calls Today’s WWE Product “Average” & Talks About Working For Vince McMahon

2-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Falir spoke to Wrestling101.com this week. Here are some highlights of what Flair said about:

Working For Vince McMahon

“Vince again is a great guy, he’s very honest and to the point and truthful. He is brutally honest and it takes a lot for someone in this day and age to be brutally honest but Vince is and I respect that about him.”

“He’s the man, there is no one like him and no one has ever compared to him in this business, he has put things together that no one ever has, he’s a genius.”

“But don’t piss him off! I’ve pissed Vince off plenty of times but oh boy did he make me aware of it and at the end of the day Vince always wins.”

The Current WWE Product:

“I think the current product is average but that’s because you can’t replace guys like The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair, it’s very hard to replace all of those great guys, but the WWE is still the best wrestling product there is.”

“The WWE really misses that whole attitude era but you’ll never get that back because it is just so hard to establish new names over night, you can’t just take a generation of people and try to replace them to make it better because it is a very tough and difficult business.”

Current WWE Superstars That Stand Out To Him:

“The first three that come to my mind are John Cena, Randy Orton and Big Show, I really like Rey Mysterio and I think Dolph Ziggler can be great. There are a lot of good guys there right now but it’s just not what it was when you had the likes of Steve Austin, Triple H, Kurt Angle, I think Kurt is awesome, right now he is the best wrestler in the business.”

Ric Flair Scheduled to Confront CM Punk Next Week On RAW

Next week’s 20th Anniversary edition of RAW is shaping up to be a big one, with several surprise appearances planned by former WWE superstars.

F4wonline.com is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is scheduled to appear on the show and the current plan is for him to confront WWE Champion CM Punk.

WWE legends rumored for next week’s RAW from Houston, Texas include the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin. It’s also expected that WWE will announce the first member of the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013.

RAW’s 20th Anniversary special will be the first time WWE is not head-to-head with football on a Monday night in several months. Without that competition, another advertised appearance by The Rock and the big returns that are planned, WWE has a great opportunity to build on the momentum of this week’s strong RAW rating headed into the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season.

Ric Flair To Wrestle In Japan Later This Month

Following up on our earlier report about Ric Flair appearing for All Japan Pro Wrestling later this month, it has been confirmed that the 16-time World Heavyweight champion will indeed be stepping into the ring to compete.

Ric Flair will team with Keiji Mutoh (Great Muta) against Tatsumi Fujinami Seiya Sanada. The match will take place on January 21st at AJPW’s live event from Ota, Japan.

The match has some historical significance, as Flair has history with both his partner Mutoh and his opponent Fujinami. Flair feuded with Mutoh in the NWA back in 1989 and the two have never teamed up together. Flair had also a memorable feud with Tatsumi Fujinami, with the two squaring of at the very first WCW Superbrawl pay-per-view back in May 1991.

Major Update On Ric Flair’s WWE Return: Kept Secret, Original Plan, Punk Feud

With Ric Flair’s surprise return to WWE RAW on Monday, it’s believed that TNA’s ongoing lawsuit against WWE is the reason that Flair’s return was not promoted in advance and why Flair has not signed a contract with WWE.

Flair has always been a strong ratings draw and Monday was no exception. When Flair was on television, RAW viewership rose from around 4.1 million viewers to 4.7 million viewers, with big spikes in the key male demographics.

Flair’s return has been planned for several weeks. There have been several angles discussed regarding how to reintroduce the 2-time Hall of Famer, including one where he would introduce his daughter, Ashley, who is currently training at NXT as Charlotte. Originally, Flair was not supposed to do anything physical, but those plans went by the wayside.

When Flair arrived in Philadelphia, he was ordered to undergo an EKG to make sure his heart was healthy enough for him to get physical on RAW with Punk, Heyman and The Shield.

* VIDEOS of RIC FLAIR’s Return On RAW – WHOOOOOO!!

Even though Ric Flair told WWE.com after RAW that he could be ready to wrestle CM Punk in 60 days, there is virtually no chance of Flair wrestling in a WWE ring again. That said, Flair will be doing an on-air angle with CM Punk (presumably after Punk’s program with the Rock is over). With CM Punk adamant that he’s the Best in the World and the most dominant pro wrestling champion of the past 25 years, there’s plenty of material for Flair and Punk to work off of.

Flair’s return was kept a secret from most of the WWE crew. There was some buzz that he might be appearing, but he was kept in a trailer away from everybody else. Even as names were leaking out on Monday about who was at RAW (Billy Gunn, Boogeyman), WWE did a good job of keeping Flair’s return a surprise.

Jim Ross Blog: Ric Flair’s WWE Future, The Shield’s Performance At TLC & More

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRSBBQ.com with his thoughts on Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view, Monday’s Slammy Awards edition of RAW and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

The Shield’s Performance at TLC: “The Shield rocked at TLC in the 6 man tag but one cannot forget that they did not perform alone. Kane, who is a future HOF talent, Daniel Bryan, who may be the best all around performer in WWE, and newcomer of the year Ryback obviously added to the equation. Bottom line is that the 6 man tag was memorable, exciting to watch, and next to impossible to follow.”

Monday’s RAW: “RAW was a fun experience. I didn’t know that I was needed until Sunday evening but was excited and pleased to get the call. It’s always good to see old friends and there were many on hand in Philly Monday. I had no idea that Ric Flair was at the arena as I did not see him until he went out to present the Slammy for Superstar of the Year. We caught up after Raw late into the night along with Mean Gene, Pat Paterson and a handful of other friends. I do know that my 4:30 am wake up call came much too early to enable me to take the first flight out of Philly back to OKC.”

Ric Flair’s future: “Not sure of Ric Flair’s long term future with WWE but I’m assuming that Naitch wants to land back in WWE for the long haul. Ric has great value and name identity and in the proper role can obviously contribute to WWE. Assuming Ric never wrestles again, his verbal skills and long established persona can be an asset. The smartest WWE talents will use Ric as resource and with reverent respect. The others will be sorry of the missed opportunity.”

Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff Weigh In On Ric Flair’s Return To WWE, Can ODB Make The List?

– Monday’s Raw saw the return of the Ric Flair to WWE, who presented the “Superstar of the Year” Slammy Award and encountered CM Punk, Paul Heyman and The Shield. The legendary grappler’s former TNA Wrestling colleagues, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, weighed in on his return via Twitter.

“Great to see Flair doing his thing again,” Hogan wrote shortly after his Raw appearance.

Bischoff noted that he is “Very happy for Ric Flair.”

– ODB attempts to make “The List” in this week’s show. The synopsis states, “Robbie E has ODB waiting for her spot on the list and being in the holiday spirit he decides to make a deal with ODB.”

According to f4wonline.com, high-placed sources in WWE have indicated that Flair has not signed a contract with the company and last night was simply a guest appearance.

The door remains open in the future for Flair to make more appearances for WWE, but for now, there’s no deal in place.

Videos: Ric Flair Returns To WWE At The Slammy Awards

Among the former WWE stars that made cameos on Monday’s Slammy Awards edition of RAW were the Boogie Man, the New Age Outlaws, Tommy Dreamer, Mene Gene Okerlund, Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair.

Flair’s return has been long awaited, with the 2-time WWE Hall of Famer presenting John Cena with the Slammy for Superstar of the Year. Cena would go on to present the award back to Flair, who then went on to have physical altercations with CM Punk, Paul Heyman and The Shield. Flair aligned himself with Ryback and Team Hell No, with the 4 men celebrating in the ring after disposing of The Shield.

At this time, it’s not known if Flair will remain on WWE television or if last night was a one-shot appearance, but

Ric Flair Talks About His Favorite In-Ring Moment, His Daughter Training At NXT & More

WrestleNewz.com has published Part 2 of their exclusive interview with Ric Flair. Flair talks about a WWE return, his daughter being in WWE developmental and lots more. Here are some highlights:

His favorite moment in the ring:
“The greatest moment in my life was wrestling Shawn Michaels for my retirement. No lie about that. But he carried me in that match. The little smart-ass actually told me to keep my mouth shut in the ring and follow him! (laughs). I didn’t do shit.”

His daughter, WWE developmental Diva Charlotte:
“She’s doing fabulous. She’s in Tampa right now training and she’s doing incredible. She is literally unbelievable.”

Did he try to talk her out of joining WWE?
“No, no, I wanted her to do it! She came to WrestleMania with me in Miami, when I got my second Hall of Fame ring with the Four Horsemen, and she just fell in love with the whole scenario.

Is he teaching her to be the dirtiest Diva in the game?
“No, But I’m just trying to make her understand that it’s a very intense business. It is. Everybody takes care of themselves in that business. I mean, don’t misunderstand me: Vince takes care of people. Vince takes care of everybody. But it’s a very competitive business once you’re in the door.”

Flair also discusses his new girlfriend, his #1 goal for a WWE return and how his daughter fits in, plus more. The full interview can be read at WrestleNewz.com.
