Ric Flair Wishes He Didn’t Call Nashville Show His ‘Last Match’

Ric Flair wishes he didn’t call his match in Nashville his “Last Match.”

Flair competed in what was advertised as his last match ever on July 31. He teamed up with son-in-law and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Andrade against the team of Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.

The match ended with a win for Flair and Andrade, seemingly concluding the two-time WWE Hall of Famer’s iconic professional wrestling career at 73-years-old. During a recent edition of his podcast, “To Be The Man,” Flair reflected on the matchup.

“The Nature Boy” admitted that he wishes he didn’t advertise it as his last match, suggesting he’d like to wrestle yet again. He then mentioned his recent appearance for The World Wrestling Council’s 49th Anniversary Show in Puerto Rico.

Flair appeared there as a manager for Andrade, and took a few punches and a headbutt from Carlos Colon. The promotion actually wanted him to wrestle, but he declined.

“I wish I hadn’t said it was my last match. That’s gonna get heat. Hell, they wanted me to wrestle in Puerto Rico on Saturday night.

“I said ‘Guys, I cannot get in the ring one week later.’ And the guy looked at me and said ‘Well, you know what, could retire in Puerto Rico can’t you?’ No, no, no that’s not the point.”

Flair also mentioned during the show that he actually passed out twice during his match in Nashville. With that being said, it’s likely not a great idea for the 16-time World Champion to compete inside the ring again.

There was already enough public push-back for the 73-year-old to compete in Nashville in the first place. Although Flair did promise beforehand that the match would be his last, given his recent comments, it will be interesting to see if he sticks to the decision.

Ric Flair Says He “Passed Out Twice” During His Last Match

Ric Flair claims he “passed out twice” during his Last Match last month.

The 73-year-old had the final match of his career on July 31 in Nashville. Flair teamed up with his son-in-law and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Andrade against Jay Lethal and fellow Hall Of Famer Jeff Jarrett.

When it was all said and done, Flair and Andrade emerged victorious from the bout. Now, speaking on his podcast, “To Be The Man,” Flair admits that he actually passed out twice during the match.

“I don’t think people realize that I passed out twice,” Flair said. “What happened was, my regimentation for training was so strict that I kept my weight on. I wanted my perfect weight to be like 220lbs going in.

“So, the last day and a half, aside from all the work that we had planned for me to do, I didn’t hydrate cause I had it in my mind that I had to weigh 219lbs. So anyway, I went to the ring at about 217lbs.

“What happened during the body of the match, I just became dehydrated. While I was standing on the apron, I looked at Jay which started the whole wheel of motion.

“I said, ‘Man, I think I’m getting sick because I was getting lightheaded, nothing to do with my heart, nothing to do with my intestines, just getting lightheaded.”

Ric Flair after his last match

There were a lot of health concerns from fans, media, and peers alike as the 73-year-old Flair prepared to compete in the ring. Given his history of health issues, many were against the idea of Flair competing in the first place.

However, Flair noted that he consulted with doctors before the match who gave him the green light to compete in the bout. Flair is also adamant about the match being his last, but did note he’s still open to doing work in professional wrestling as a manager.

Although he may be done as an official in-ring talent, there’s no getting rid of “The Nature Boy” from professional wrestling altogether.

Ric Flair Reveals Thoughts On His Final Match

It’s been one week since Ric Flair wrestled what was advertised as his final match, and now the man himself has spoken about what he thought of the performance.

Flair’s final match was part of an entire weekend of events in Nashville that was broadcast on FITE and promoted in conjunction with Conrad Thompson’s Starrcast V. Flair’s match, wrestled under the Jim Crockett Promotions banner, saw him team with son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to take on Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in a winning effort.

In a new interview with Lucha Libre Online, Flair gave his thoughts.

“I’m very happy with it. I needed to give it one more shot. I feel like I didn’t go out the right way, and to have the relationship now that I do with Andrade, with Charlotte, to have a son-in-law like him to be a tag team partner, for him to tag with me and have the whole family there and his family who I’ve gotten to know well, it was big for all of them,” Flair said.

He continued, “It was especially big for me because my entire family was there and the only person to get an opportunity to do that twice. Once in 2008 with Shawn Michaels (at WrestleMania 24) and now with my son-in-law in Nashville. It was big.”

Flair Appears At Puerto Rico Wrestling Event, Gets Physical

Despite his final match, Flair isn’t done appearing at wrestling events. And by the looks of it, he’s not done getting physically involved at wrestling events.

Flair joined Andrade Saturday night in Puerto Rico at the WWC Aniversario 2022 show. Andrade wrestled Carlito, and during the show, Flair confronted Carlito’s father, the legendary Carlos Colon.

As you’ll see from the photos below, Flair took a blow to the head.

Photos: Ric Flair Gets Physical at Wrestling Event in Puerto Rico

Last month, Ric Flair competed in his final match, bringing his legendary wrestling career to an end.

Flair teamed with Andrade El-Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett, in the main event of the ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ Pay Per View.

The match came eleven years after Flair’s previous bout (a TNA 2011 loss to Sting) and the 16-time World Champion has made it clear that he means it with this retirement.

Getting Physical

Ric Flair may indeed be officially retired from wrestling, but the “Dirtiest Player in the Game” isn’t afraid to still get physical when it matters.

Last night, Flair joined his son-in-law in Puerto Rico, as the AEW star and former WWE NXT Champion faced Carlito at the WWC Aniversario 2022 event.

On Twitter, Flair shared some photos of him confronting Carlito’s father and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon.

In the first image, Flair can be seen removing his jacket to confront the Puerto Rican legend, while the second image shows Flair taking a shot to the head.

The match, which was the main event of the show, saw Carlito defeat Andrade with Puerto Rico’s Ray Gonzalez acting as special guest referee.

After the show, both sides were more civil and posed together for a photo.

In addition to Carlito, Andrade, Flair and Colon, Charlotte Flair, daughter of Ric and wife of Andrade, and Carlito’s brother Primo joined them for the picture.

Ric Flair’s Last Match Attendance, Live Gate & PPV Buys

Last week, Ric Flair competed in his final ever match, teaming with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.

While the show was named after “The Nature Boy” Flair’s final ever wrestling match wasn’t the only bout on the card.

The total 13-match card also saw the Impact World and Knockouts World Championships be defended, as well as Jonathan Gresham be crowned the number-one contender for the PROGRESS World Championship.

The Event

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the show was a big success as an attraction, with over 6,800 fans in attendance.

The show drew a live gate revenue of $448,502, the second largest for any indie event of this generation. PPV buys are still being tabulated, but early estimates have them at around 20-25,000.

The show is certainly the second-most successful gate in North America, only being beaten by 2018’s ALL IN event.

That show, run by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, saw 10,541 in attendance and a live gate revenue of $458,525.

Reviews

The Ric Flair’s Last Match event has received mixed reviews, with the production quality and overall presentation of the show being praised.

Many have called the match of the night the fatal four-way between Bandido, Laredo Kid, Black Taurus and Rey Fenix, which Fenix won.

As for Flair’s match, which was also the main event, the match drew criticism for how poor Ric looked in the match.

The Sportster said how the match showed that “Ric Flair should not have been in the ring whatsoever,” while Bleacher Report called the main event “one of the most unusual, at times uncomfortable, watches in recent memory.”

Ric Flair’s Last Match Was A Success—Should Other Legends Follow Suit?

The Ric Flair’s Last Match event over WWE SummerSlam weekend, branded as part of Starrcast V, presented a surprising situation for wrestling fans. First of all, there was the matter of 73-year-old Flair wrestling at all, which defied the expectations of most people around what kind of activities a senior citizen could take part in. From there, the sheer interest in the card was remarkable.

On the side of wrestlers, the event took on a unique flavor with matches representing a wide variety of promotions taking place on the card. On the side of fans, there was enough interest to move from a small-scale event at the Nashville Fairgrounds to a full-fledged, more conventionally staged show at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

The event became the talk of social media and a draw on pay per view. Based on the success of what happened, questions arise about whether the same formula could apply with a different featured legend.

Ric Flair’s Last Match Represented A Unique Set Of Circumstances

Ric Flair And Conrad Thompson

Ric Flair is one of wrestling’s biggest legends and greatest talents, and has in some ways traded on being a crazy old man for the last 25 years-plus. It’s with these factors in mind that building a whole card around him having one more match could draw fans and fellow wrestlers alike.

It would not work to plug just anyone into such a spot. With all due respect to retired stars like Buff Bagwell or Marc Mero, they simply wouldn’t be able to command an audience like Flair.

Moreover, Ric Flair’s Last Match traded on family and tradition. The event was promoted by Flair’s son-in-law Conrad Thompson and featured another son-in-law, Andrade El Idolo, as The Nature Boy’s tag team partner. The show also tapped into the Jim Crockett Promotions name—branding synonymous with Flair’s heyday, and a brand there are plenty of fans in their thirties or older still have a lot of nostalgia for.

There Are A Handful Of Legends Who Might Pull Off Something Akin To Ric Flair’s Last Match

Hulk Hogan And Mick Foley

Tthe list of mostly-retired stars who could draw like Ric Flair is small, and there’s no one with as intimate a relationship to Conrad Thompson to work his marketing wizardry on putting the event together. There are, nonetheless, a handful of legends who conceivably could have an event like this built around them, too.

Hulk Hogan is the first name that comes to mind, who could likely pull off a performance at a comparable level to 73-year-old Flair, playing the greatest hits (albeit with fewer bumps), and tapping into a similar demographic of fans age-wise who were WWE stalwarts. Bret Hart comes to mind as well, as not quite the same level of cross over celebrity, but someone with an enormous following, particularly if such an event were to be staged in Canada.

For better or worse, most of the other candidates range from unlikely to impossible, be it for for clear lack of interest or ongoing connections to WWE, and WWE likely not being interested in promoting a show like this. Those stars include Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels. The Rock might also qualify, but his level of celebrity make him all the less likely to do something away from the WWE spotlight in wrestling.

The more realistic candidates may include legends like Mick Foley, Jerry Lawler, or Diamond Dallas Page (who all appeared at Ric Flair’s Last Match); Chris Jericho also seems like someone who could draw, though for now, that would be under the AEW banner.

A Show Like Ric Flair’s Last Match Could Be Built More Around The Supporting Cast

Rey Fenix And Josh

While advertising a show as the last match of any lesser star than Ric Flair probably wouldn’t be as much of a draw, it’s conceivable that a match like that could still be the main event, or at least a featured bout on another independently promoted, stand-alone event. After all, Ric Flair and Andrade El Idolo vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett may have been the match that drew fans in Nashville, but it certainly wasn’t the objective best match of the night.

So, someone like Mick Foley wrestling one more match could draw, while top stars from AEW, ROH, Impact, or New Japan—or perhaps a crossover, “forbidden door” encounter like Josh Alexander vs. Jacob Fatu could close the show, especially if a promotion were willing to pull the trigger on a title change at such a show.

In the end, it may be for the best that Ric Flair’s Last Match remain a stand-alone, unique event in wrestling history. It probably shouldn’t become a pattern for geriatric wrestlers to risk their bodies or lives, and the precise circumstances surrounding this event probably won’t repeat themselves. However, when one event succeeds in wrestling, as in so many walks of life, there’s always a temptation to do it again or for imitators to arise. It will be interesting to see if this unprecedented event were to become a new template.

Backstage Update On Ric Flair’s Health After Bloody Last Match

Ric Flair’s final match was everything fans expected and more. The wrestling veteran gave one of the best performances of his life and won the bout.

However, he also took some scary bumps during the fight and was a bloody mess coming out of it. This only added to the concern of fans who were already worried about his health going into the event.

PWinsider provided some early updates on his health following his match. They noted that two doctors were waiting for Flair in the locker room and he was checked immediately after he returned.

According to a source, the former world champion was ‘great’ after the bout. He was spent after the outing but he took some rest. After being checked out by the doctors, Ric Flair said that he was starving and wanted to go eat.

As scary as the bout was, the news coming out of the show is that the Nature Boy is fine, and he was headed out to enjoy the rest of his evening in Nashville.

The 73-year-old had been talking about his health issues openly before the PPV. It’s a good news for fans that he appears to have come out of the match relatively healthy.

Cody Rhodes Appears Via Video At Ric Flair’s Last Match PPV

A WWE Superstar made a video appearance during the pre-show of Ric Flair’s Last Match.

Ric Flair Teases Blood During Last Match

In just a few hours, Ric Flair will step into the ring for one final time in his 50-year career. Flair will team alongside Andrade El Idolo to take on Ring of Honor star Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.

Flair spoke to TMZ Sports, and he hinted that he will be getting color in tonight’s match.

“I know people think all I have to do is get in the ring and strut around and go ‘wooo’ and do this [holds hand up to forehead]. I’ve got to give them a lot more than that to satisfy myself and to have you guys saying on Monday, ‘Holy shit. What the hell just happened? How can that guy be 73?’

That’s my goal right now. On Monday morning for you guys to be going, ‘What the shit. How did he ever pull that off?’ Brother, I’ll have one [a blade] tied to my finger a mile long. [Makes blading gesture].

When all else fails [laughs]. I’ll take a lot of pressure off of myself the minute I get to that. For years I couldn’t work without it.”

No matter what the result is, Ric Flair’s Last Match will be a spectacle that will most likely be talked about Monday morning. The action begins with the preshow starting at 6:05 p.m. Eastern on FiteTV.

Ric Flair Talks About His Health Going Into His Last Match

Tonight Ric Flair’s 50-year career will come to an end.

Flair is set to compete in his last ever match in professional wrestling, as he teams with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. It all goes down at 6:05 p.m. Eastern at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Flair spoke to TMZ Sports about his health going into his final match.

“You know, in the last couple weeks, I don’t know whether it’s psychological, but I mean, I thought I had pneumonia. I got sick from, I think I was working out too much and then driving in the air-conditioned car in a wet shirt.

“And then they thought I had covid, and I got plantar fasciitis at the bottom of my foot, which is brutal. But yesterday, everything was A-OK, five days out. I’m good to go, man. Good to go.”

When asked if Flair had ever considered postponing the match, he replied, “I would never postpone it. They’d have to kill me for that. So many people have contributed their time and effort to make this happen. I just wanted to be at 100% of what I can be now.”

When asked if doctors feel confident about him competing, Flair said “I haven’t asked anybody since I started training. No one has told me no. Outside of being treated for the plantars, I haven’t been back to the heart doctor. I feel great.

“My heart, at my age with the pacemaker, you’re supposed to never take your heart rate 50 points above your age. I should never take it over 130. Yesterday, riding a bike, I got it to 193. If there is something plugged up, it hasn’t backed up on me yet. I’ve had it up to 203.”

“I’ve been doing 500 free squats and shit like that, like I used to. 500 in 12 minutes. They think I’m counting from 490 and making a joke. I’ll be doing 500 again tomorrow, take a day off, 500 on Friday, and probably ride the bike Saturday and Sunday and enjoy it.

“I guarantee I’ll be drinking every night. I don’t do good when I don’t drink at night. I’m like Lawrence Taylor.”

Charlotte Flair Shot Down Planned High Spot For Ric’s Last Match

Charlotte Flair apparently shot down a planned high spot in her father Ric’s upcoming last match.

Ric Flair will wrestle his last professional wrestling match ever this Sunday from Nashville, Tennessee on pay-per-view (PPV). He’ll be teaming up with his son-in-law and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.

There has been a lot of concern about Flair wrestling at his age of 73, as well has the fact that he’s going into the match with an injury. However, Flair will press on for one last dance.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Charlotte Flair discussed her father’s upcoming bout, noting she actually shot down the idea of him doing a high spot off of the top rope.

“A lot of our men and women in all companies miss those all the time. I was like, ‘No, not needed, not necessary. Wasn’t necessary in your prime, isn’t necessary now. So, no.’”

Ric Flair Accompanied By Big Card

Aside from Flair’s headlining bout, there will be several other talents competing on the card from promotions such as Impact Wrestling, MLW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and AAA.

The current card for the show is as follows:

Watch: Ric Flair Gets Candid About His Last Wrestling Match

Ric Flair is getting candid about his last professional wrestling match later this month.

The professional wrestling legend will be teaming up with his son-in-law and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal on July 31 from Nashville, Tennessee on pay-per-view (PPV).

Flair was recently interviewed by TMZ Sports to preview his upcoming match on the Nashville show. “The Nature Boy” was asked if there was ever any hesitancy to jump back into the ring at this point in his life.

The two-time WWE Hall Of Famer admitted he did at first, however, over the past few weeks of training and seeing his physical ability improve, he’s feeling much better about everything.

“It did until the last couple of weeks. It was so hard to go from just regular working out to getting in shape to doing this. But I’ve basically done everything in the ring that I can do in the match.

“For me it was a question of picking up the pacing, you know, I needed to be able to get up and down faster. So I’ve worked on that, I’ve had plenty of time – I’m probably in the best shape I’ve been in my life since I was 35. Even before I wrestled Shawn [Michaels].”

Many seem to be skeptical as to whether or not Flair will stay true to his word about staying retired after this match. At 73-years-old, and reportedly dealing with injuries heading into the match, there are concerns with Flair competing at all.

However, Flair promises to his fans that this will be the last time he wrestles, as he doesn’t want to let anybody down by continuing.

“It’s because I would really disappoint a lot of people if I did,” Flair said. “I’ve already been offered $100,000 by three different promoters to wrestle. And I’m not saying I won’t get back in the ring as a manager, but I absolutely – I owe this to my fans. I will not wrestle again.”

Ric Flair Accompanied By Big Card

Aside from Flair’s headlining bout, there will be several other talents competing on the card from promotions such as Impact Wrestling, MLW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and AAA.

The current card for the show is as follows:

  • Ric Flair’s Last Match: Ric Flair and Andrade El Idolo vs. Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal
  • IMPACT World Championship Match: Josh Alexander vs. Jacob Fatu
  • Impact Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace vs. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Rachael Ellering
  • The Wolves vs. The Motor City Machine Guns

Steve Austin On Ric Flair’s Last Match: ‘It’s Gonna Turn Out Great, I Can’t Wait To Watch It’

Steve Austin has weighed in on Ric Flair working his last match over SummerSlam weekend at the ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ event at Starrcast.

The WWE Hall Of Famer is set to team with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in the show’s main event.

Austin, who came out of his retirement and worked his first match in 19 years against Kevin Owens in the main event of WrestleMania 38 Night One, noted in an interview with SportsKeeda’s Bill Apter that he’s looking forward to the match.

“Well, it’s gonna be his final match, so I guess he’s in the mood to have one more go and to prove he was the man,” Austin explained. “I’ve said before, I think he was the greatest traveling world champion that there ever was. There’s a reason he had the belt as many times as he did, because he was that damn good. He lived the lifestyle on the road to the nth degree, let’s say.

“For him to have his final match, I wish him nothing but the best. I hold him in the highest regard and have the highest respect for him,” he continued. “I’m behind everything he does in the ring. So, I look forward to seeing it. I wish I could be there in person. Again, I’m not traveling anywhere right now, but I wish him all the best and I know it’s gonna turn out great and I can’t wait to watch it.”

Ric Flair Reveals WWE Superstars will be at His Last Match

Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair shared that several WWE superstars will attend his last match.

Wrestling fans are looking forward to seeing Flair have the final professional wrestling match of his career. Starrcast shared on Twitter on July 18 that Flair will team with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo vs. Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal for his last match.

Flair appeared on Busted Open on Sirius XM with Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca on July 19 to promote the event. During the interview, Ray asked Flair if Charlotte Flair would be at his show. Flair responded that she will but that he wasn’t sure if she would appear on camera. He also revealed that more WWE talent would attend the show.

“She’ll be there, but I don’t know whether she will be on camera or not, said Flair. He continued, “…If it weren’t for me, I mean, I don’t think she’ll miss it even if Andrade wasn’t involved. She just might not be on camera. A lot of the guys are coming, (Rey)Mysterio is coming, Apollo(Crews) is coming, Pat McAfee is coming.”

Is it Possible That More WWE Superstar Will Attend Ric Flair’s Last Match?

After Flair revealed that some of WWE’s talent would attend his show, wrestling fans may speculate who else may appear. His event would take place on Jul. 31 at The Fairgrounds Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee. WWE will have SummerSlam at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Jul. 30.

It’s possible more WWE talent could attend Flair’s last match. However, it may be difficult for some wrestlers because Monday Night Raw takes place on Aug. 1 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

The only name Flair mentioned that is booked to wrestle at SummerSlam as of this writing is McAfee. While it’s likely that other WWE talent may show up, fans shouldn’t expect to see people like Charlotte Flair appear on camera. However, WWE could make some exceptions for the two-time Hall of Famer’s final performance.

You can watch Flair’s last match live on FITE for $34.99.

Why is Jeff Jarrett Competing in Ric Flair’s Final Match?

On July 31, Ric Flair will compete in his final ever match, bringing his impressive wrestling career to an end.

This week, it was confirmed that “the Dirtiest Player in the Game” will team with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to face Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.

The match will take place at the appropriately titled ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ event, as part of Starrcast V.

Jarrett’s Double Booking

The weekend will certainly be a busy one for Jeff Jarrett, who will be appearing at Summerslam the night prior.

Jarrett will officiate the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title match between The Usos and The Street Profits.

The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion was confirmed for the Premium Live Event during last week’s edition of SmackDown on FOX.

Double-J is also in charge of WWE’s live events division, leading many to question how he’s allowed to work the Starrcast event.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that Jarrett is not under a talent contract with WWE, so the company allowed him the chance to wrestle Flair.

Ric Flair’s Last Match

While the highlight of the event will be the titular final match of the 16-time World Champion, that’s not all for the ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ card.

The show will also see the Briscoes face the Von Erichs, while WWE alum Harry Smith will take on Killer Kross.

Titles will be on the line as Impact Wrestling World Champion Josh Alexander will face Jacob Fatu.

Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace will put her title on the line against Rachel Ellering and Deonna Purrazzo.

Ric Flair Addresses Injury Ahead Of Last Match

Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair addresses his injury ahead of his last match later this month.

It was recently reported that Flair was dealing with a foot injury ahead of the Nashville, Tennessee event on July 31. Appearing on Busted Open Radio recently, Flair addressed the reported injury and the potential concerns about competing with it.

Flair admits that the foot is very uncomfortable but doctors will soon be injecting him with medication to numb the pain.

Flair says he’ll deaden the foot if he has to, and the fact that the match is a tag team match should definitely help things, as he’ll be able to hide it a bit better.

“The Nature Boy” will be teaming up with his new son-in-law and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Andrade El Idolo to take on the team of Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. The show goes down from the Municipal Auditorium and will air live on pay-per-view (PPV).

Ric Flair Accompanied By Big Card

Aside from Flair’s headlining bout, there will be several other talents competing on the card from promotions such as Impact Wrestling, MLWNew Japan Pro Wrestling, and AAA.

Ric Flair’s Last Match Revealed

The main event for Ric Flair’s Last Match has been revealed.

It was announced tonight that Flair will team with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal with Karen Jarrett in their corner in a tag team match. There was a bloody angle shot to set up this match.

When news broke of Flair wrestling again, it was rumored to be a six-man tag team match with Flair and FTR taking on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. However, Steamboat turned down the match.

Flair made disparaging remarks about Lethal on his podcast after claiming Lethal’s frustration when he found out he wouldn’t be booked for the show. They have a history going back to their time in TNA Wrestling.

Regarding Jarrett, Flair began poking fun at him during a press conference to promote the event and went as far as to hand him a pair of free tickets to the show.

Ric Flair Moves Tickets

In his heyday, Ric Flair was the arguable top star of all professional wrestling, and many fans are still excited to see the 16-time World Champion in action.

The show had originally been scheduled to take place at the Nashville Fairgrounds but is now set to happen at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium due to tickets selling out very quickly.

The Nature Boy’s final farewell will be the headline attraction for Starrcast V, which will also include stage shows and meet and greets for fans.

SEScoops will be live in attendance providing up-to-date coverage from Starrcast V.

Ric Flair Reportedly Dealing With Injury Ahead Of Last Match

Ric Flair is reportedly dealing with an injury ahead of his last match ever.

Wrestling Observer Radio is reporting that Flair is dealing with an injury as his last-ever bout approaches at the end of the month. Dave Meltzer reports that Flair is dealing with a foot injury ahead of the bout.

The show is slated for July 31 in Nashville, Tennessee from the Municipal Auditorium that will take place live on pay-per-view (PPV). Flair has noted that he’ll be competing with a pacemaker, which has draw some concern from many within the professional wrestling community ahead of the bout.

However, “The Nature Boy” claims he has consulted several doctors on the matter that have given him the green light to compete. Aside from his health, Flair’s age of 73 alone is enough to worry some about him competing inside the ring.

Ric Flair Accompanied By Big Card

Aside from Flair’s headlining bout, there will be several other talents competing on the card from promotions such as Impact Wrestling, MLW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and AAA.

The current card for the show is as follows:

Killer Kross Says That Wrestling On The Ric Flair’s Last Match PPV Is Surreal

During a recent discussion with SEScoops correspondent Steve Fall for NBC Sports Boston, Killer Kross talked about his feelings and emotions around competing on the pay-per-view centered around Ric Flair’s Last Match.

Ric Flair’s Last Match PPV

Killer Kross will compete against Harry Smith, the British Bulldog’s son, on the Ric Flair’s Last Match card. Ric Flair’s Last Match takes place on Sunday, July 31th at the Nashville Fairgrounds in Nashville, TN. This is just one of the live wrestling shows scheduled for Starrcast V during WWE SummerSlam weekend. However, it is set to headline the whole convention.

As of right now, the card is as follows:

  • Impact World Championship Match: Josh Alexander (c) vs Jacob Faty
  • Rachael Ellering vs Deonna Purrazzo vs Jordynne Grace
  • Clark Connors vs Ren Narita
  • Killer Kross (w/ Scarlett Bordeaux) vs Harry Smith
  • The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) vs Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)
  • Rey Fenix vs Taurus vs Laredo Kid vs Bandido
  • The Von Erich (Marshall & Ross) vs The Briscoes

Kross Is Grateful

Killer Kross spoke with SEScoops correspondent Steve Fall for NBC Sports Boston prior to competing on the Ric Flair’s Last Match pay-per-view. Kross spoke about what it’s like to be a part of such a legendary event.

He said:

“It’s pretty crazy man. You know when you’re a kid, you grow up watching these people on TV and to you they’re like the TV people. There’s all these people that you can run into when you’re a little kid at the park or toy store or school or something like that. You never see people in the TV, and then suddenly you grow up and you’re on their last show. You’re not really sure if you’re in the TV or if they’re out of the TV.

So, it’s a really cool, surreal, type of thing. It’s very hard to put into words, but I am very flattered and grateful to be a part of this event. I’m looking forward to putting my best work forward as always.”

Is It Really Ric Flair’s Last Match?

Kross was then asked to speculate if he really believes that this will be Ric Flair’s last match or not.

“Yeah, I mean it’s hard to believe and I don’t know he’s going to have to figure out what that is [an off day], unless he’s known this whole time and he’s working us. I hope he does, I hope he does some sort of podcast or some sort of television series or something because I think that he would still be incredibly entertaining especially as a television figure or something like a reality show. If that’s too invasive for the guy or too labourus or too much work or just not his cup of tea I think him doing a podcast would be awesome just to hear perhaps some of the stories that he’s never told.

There’s no way he could have told all the stories of going up and down the roads with all these guys. So, I would be personally interested in listening to something like that or watching something like that. Something episodic would be cool, something of that nature,” the former two-time NXT Champion said.

Backstage News On Ric Flair’s Final Match

Ric Flair has been enthusiastically preparing for what’s being built as his final match next month but an opponent for the Nature Boy has yet to be announced. Fightful Select provided some update on the situation after it was initially reported that the wrestling veteran would be teaming up with FTR for the match.

The original idea was for The Rock N’ Roll Express to team up with Ricky Steamboat to face this trio before Steamboat declined to be a part of the bout. Steamboat was actually ready for the fight and the two parties had a meeting about it. However, his asking price was ‘extremely high’ and they were unable to come to an agreement.

After Ricky Steamboat’s denial, the chances of FTR making it to the show are starting to look thin as well. Per the site, the AEW owner Tony Khan was yet to give them the clearance to work the show as of Thursday afternoon. While the reason why Khan has not approved this appearance is not known, it’s worth noting here that he had a falling out with Flair following Dark Side of The Ring’s Plane Ride From Hell episode.

The wrestling world had bashed Flair for his conduct on the flight. Ric’s former podcast co-host Mark Madden has hinted that Tony even disinvited the wrestling veteran from his birthday party this year. Despite the controversies, people’s interest in Ric Flair’s final match seems to only increase as the date comes closer. The event was recently moved to a much larger venue after they sold out the arena initially booked for the show.

Ric Flair’s final match is scheduled to take place from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium on July 31.

Ric Flair Loses it After AEW Star No-Shows his Podcast

Next month, Ric Flair will have his last ever match, bringing his incredible in-ring career to its final end.

Flair has been training with AEW’s very own Jay Lethal ahead of his last match, and fans may remember their infamous interactions in TNA Wrestling many years ago.

Given that the pair are training together, you’d naturally assume the duo is close, but things got tense this week.

Lethal No Shows

Lethal was scheduled to appear on Ric Flair’s podcast this week but didn’t appear in any capacity.

In his response, Flair went on the show to claim that Lethal has an “attitude,” which has caused friction between them (via WrestlingNews.co.)

“Is he gonna hear this, if I say it? I don’t care. He’s got an attitude. He wants to be part of the show. And I said it ain’t gonna happen. You know how that happens all of a sudden and everybody’s feelings are hurt. You know, this is what we discussed, some people’s feelings are gonna be hurt.

“I’m not saying anything bad. I don’t have the authority, even though [I am a] co-owner of this venture. I don’t have the authority to put him on the card. So I think he’s upset about that, but he’ll get over it.

“They can block this out but you can’t make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t.”

Ric Flair, on Jay Lethal no-showing his podcast.

Lethal hasn’t responded publicly to Flair’s comments at this time.

Ric Flair’s Last Match Moved to a Much Larger Venue

Ric Flair is still a draw, brother.

The Nature Boy is scheduled to wrestle his final match on Sunday July 31st during Starrcast weekend. After selling out the Nashville Fairgrounds in less than 24-hours, event organizers (Jim Crocket Promotions) made the call to move the spectacle to a significantly larger venue.

“Ric Flair’s Last Match” will now take place at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, which can accommodate over 7,000 fans.

According to a press release sent in to SEScoops current ticket holder’s seats will be honored, and communication on the changes will be emailed to them this week.

Additional tickets go on sale Friday, June 24 at RicFlairsLastMatch.com.

Ric Flair and JCP Comment

“On July 31, I’m still going to walk that aisle and style and profile as only I can,” said Flair. “But now, a bigger crowd, brighter lights! ‘The Nature Boy’ can’t wait to do what I do best. WOOOO!”

“Like so many times before, having Ric Flair’s name on the marquee has the wrestling world buzzing,” said Jim Crockett Promotions President, David Crockett. “On Sunday, July 31, we look forward to bringing the fans at Nashville Municipal Auditorium, and our worldwide audience, a night of professional wrestling that they will never forget.”

“When we announced that STARRCAST was coming back, with our partner Thuzio, we knew the last weekend in July was going to be a celebration for wrestling fans. The party’s main event has now moved to a bigger room,” said STARRCAST and AdFreeShows.com founder Conrad Thompson. “There will still be numerous events and experiences happening throughout the weekend at The Nashville Fairgrounds, who have been wonderful to work with. However, the demand for Ric’s last match to move to a bigger venue was one we couldn’t ignore.”

“Due to the overwhelming demand by fans to be in the building for ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match,’ we have made the decision to move this once-in-a-lifetime show to the Nashville Municipal Auditorium,” said Jared Augustine, CEO of Thuzio. “Once the initial batch of tickets at the Nashville Fairgrounds went so quickly, our team immediately started to look for a larger venue, and the Nashville Municipal Auditorium is an ideal solution.”

“Ric Flair’s Last Match” will stream live on FITE 6:05 p.m. EST on Sunday, July 31.
