Riddle: Roman Reigns Wasn’t Happy With ‘Needle-Mover’ Remark

Matt Riddle admits that Roman Reigns was none too pleased with him over a recent remark.

Riddle has been known to ruffle some feathers. We’ve heard reports of stars such as Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and even Randy Orton at one time take issue with the former UFC fighter. The good news for Riddle is that it appears both Goldberg and Orton are on good terms with him these days. Reigns and Lesnar may be a different story.

Needle Mover

Ahead of this year’s WWE Summerslam event, Reigns told Ariel Helwani for BT Sport that he didn’t feel CM Punk was as good or as over as The Rock or John Cena.

Riddle responded to this during an interview with Bleacher Report, claiming that Reigns himself isn’t a needle-mover.

“When he’s saying ‘Acknowledge me’ or ‘I move the needle,’ no, you don’t” You’re related to The Rock. Shut up. Like, I’m not impressed, I can beat you up in a real fight. So, shut your mouth. You’re not moving needles. I’m the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we’re moving the needle, and that’s it.”

Riddle continued, “I don’t want to say too much, I’m not trying to get in trouble. Hey, hats off to him. He’s amazing at what he does. I do like what he does, but at the same time, it’s like, get off your high horse. You’re in that spot for a reason. You’re not a bro. You’re second generation. I’m first generation.”

Roman Reigns’ Reaction

Riddle appeared on the Cheap Heat podcast with Peter Rosenberg and Stat Guy Greg this week and revealed Reigns didn’t take too kindly to that comment.

“Well ya know, I’ll do this. I’m trying not to talk too much trash anymore. I don’t wanna upset the higherups. I said something about, I’m not gonna mention an exact name, but he’s a ‘Chief of Tribes.’ I said something about him recently and he wasn’t too happy. Like I said, I’m not saying specific names. That could be anybody, that could be anybody. But he wasn’t happy. I talked some trash about me moving the needle and selling merch, and he didn’t like what I said. I thought it was hilarious but not everybody thinks like me.”

Riddle vs. Brock Lesnar? There’s Still Work To Do

Riddle went on to say that while he’d like to share the ring with Lesnar, he made a promise to Brock that he wouldn’t call him out in the media.

“I still want the match with Brock but I promised him I wouldn’t call him out anymore. He asked me not to a couple of years ago at a Royal Rumble, so I respect your wishes Mr. Beast. I won’t call you out.”

Riddle Hopeful About Goldberg Match In 2022

Riddle has not given up on a potential encounter with Goldberg and the outspoken star is hoping to finally step in the ring with the WCW veteran in 2022.

One-half of the current Raw tag team champions recently appeared on the Cheap Heat podcast. He discussed things such as getting heat for his remarks on Roman Reigns, still wanting a match with Brock Lesnar, and more.

Speaking of Goldberg, Riddle claimed that he has grown on the former WCW champion. He is hoping that the encounter between the two will finally happen in the coming year because it will sell tickets:

“I’ll be honest, I think I’ve grown on the guy. I think he’s grown on me a little. I think that match can possibly happen. We both went to Saudi. We were both on the same airplane. We bumped into each other quite a few times on that airplane.

I think we can get that match. I think we pull that one out. No promises but I’m hoping by 2022, we get Riddle vs. Goldberg. It will sell tickets.”

The former UFC star also discussed the difference between the preparation of MMA and wrestling. He said that wrestling is different as it requires nonstop preparation.

Riddle explained that you have to look the part and be ready to recite a whole paragraph or two on live TV anytime. Though he claimed that once you get competent enough, it’s almost like a therapy session because you get to express yourself.

Tag Team Title Match Signed For WWE Crown Jewel

Another title match has been added to the WWE Crown Jewel event.

WWE will be making its way back to Saudi Arabia on Oct. 21. The show will feature the highly-anticipated WWE Universal Title match between champion Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. A triple threat match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship between Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, and Sasha Banks will also be featured at Crown Jewel.

We now have another title match added to the mix. Raw Tag Team Champions Riddle and Randy Orton will put their gold on the line against AJ Styles and Omos in a rematch. RK-Bro defeated Styles and Omos for the tag team championships back in August at the Summerslam event.

Here’s the official word from WWE:

“At WWE Crown Jewel, WWE Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro will go head-to-head with former titleholders AJ Styles & Omos in what is sure to be an explosive WWE Raw Tag Team Title rematch.”

Orton has missed a few dates as of late. It was reported by PWInsider that he hadn’t been cleared to compete. It seems that whatever issues Randy Orton had have been resolved.

WWE Crown Jewel will also feature the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown finals. While it hasn’t been announced, Goldberg is expected to meet former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley in a rematch at Crown Jewel.

Riddle Thinks He Had To Earn The Respect Of Goldberg

Riddle once had beef with Goldberg but it appears the two are chummy now.

Riddle has been known to ruffle some feathers in WWE. In particular, he got on the bad side of Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. Goldberg wasn’t happy with Riddle’s comments about his in-ring work. Goldberg confronted Riddle backstage during their first run-in.

These days, however, Riddle and Goldberg have buried the hatchet. Here’s what one-half of the Raw Tag Team Champions told Ryan Satin about his latest interaction with Goldberg.

“I’m pretty sure Goldberg [didn’t like me], he gave me a hug the other day at SummerSlam. There was one time that guy wanted to rip my head off and then you earn a certain level of respect. I think that’s what I had to do.”

Goldberg returns to the ring at WWE Crown Jewel on Oct. 21 in Saudi Arabia. He will collide with former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. This will be a rematch from their SummerSlam showdown back in August, which was won by Lashley.

As for Riddle, he remains in a feud with AJ Styles and Omos. Riddle was without Randy Orton this past week, who reportedly isn’t cleared to compete at the moment.

Riddle Gives His Thoughts On NXT 2.0

As one of the final stars to be called up to the main roster before the rebranding of NXT, Riddle likes the revamp of the brand. He thinks they are doing a good job of pushing new talent. One-half of the current Raw tag team champions recently made an appearance on the After The Bell podcast. He discussed topics such as the biggest thing he has learned from Randy Orton and more.

Giving his thoughts on the re-design of WWE’s third brand, Riddle said that he likes the new colors. Though he is not so sure about the 2.0 moniker:

“I like the colors, I like the colorfulness, but I don’t know about the 2.0, I don’t think they needed the 2.0, but hey, I get it, we’ve evolved to the next level of NXT. I like it. I feel like, right now, they’re doing a great job of catering and pushing newer talent. Instead of getting guys with huge independent reputations and just putting them in the forefront, it’s really good that they’re building stars.”

Riddle Compares Bron Breakker To Goldberg

The former UFC star also gave his opinion on the fastest rising star of NXT 2.0, Bron Breakker. Riddle claimed that the son of wrestling veteran Rick Steiner reminds him of a young Goldberg with the way he moves around the ring:

“Bron Breakker, dude’s a house, guys pretty stacked, you know? I mean, right now, he reminds me of a younger Goldberg. I feel like him on the mic, he’s very short, very intense, and then in the ring, he’s not doing a lot of dips and dives, but he definitely gets the job done. The guys a ball of muscle, that’s all I can say.”

The Raw star continued by saying that he thinks of Bron when he thinks about up and coming future guys. He claimed that the heavyweight star could be fighting for the world championship in three years. Riddle admitted that only time will tell whether this actually happens, but from what he has seen, Bron Breakker seems to have a bright future ahead.

Riddle Confirms Backstage Heat For Roman Reigns Comments

Matt Riddle recently confirmed that there has been a little heat on him backstage in WWE for comments he made recently about Roman Reigns. Riddle was being interviewed by the Bleacher Report and said that Reigns “doesn’t move the needle” and this reportedly rubbed some the wrong way backstage in the company.

During a recent interview with the International Business Times, Riddle confirmed that his comments were met with a negative reaction in WWE.

“I’m not trying to rub anybody the wrong way or say anything [wrong], but I made some comments [and] I’ll say this: I think they were all factual, just so you know. Kind of like I said, [I am] kind of telling the truth here. But I think, maybe, even if they were factual, they weren’t the most professional things to say, especially with me being on the Raw brand and him being on SmackDown,” Riddle said.

“I think maybe I got a little too big for my britches, you know what I mean? Maybe I got a little backstage heat. Maybe a tiny bit.”

Matt Riddle Comments On Backstage Heat For Roman Reigns Comments

Riddle has made headlines for comments he’s made about top WWE Superstars in the past as well. He made several statements regarding wanting to retire Brock Lesnar that led to the two having a backstage altercation at the Royal Rumble in 2020. Riddle has also made several statements regarding Bill Goldberg, referring to him as unsafe.

“Unfortunately, I said some things that some people may not have liked and I’m not going to mention names, but they didn’t like it. I won’t say it again. I get it,” Riddle continued.

“Right now, all hail the Tribal Chief. Good for Roman [Reigns]. Acknowledge him. Everybody, acknowledge him, okay? That’s all I’m saying.”

Riddle and his RK-Bro teammate Randy Orton are the current RAW tag team champions. They defeated AJ Styles and Omos for the belts at SummerSlam. It is the second title Riddle has won on the main roster. He is also a former United States champion. He won that title at Elimination Chamber in February but then lost it to Sheamus at WrestleMania.

Backstage Update On Riddle’s Comments About Roman Reigns

RK-Bro’s Matt Riddle has reportedly rubbed some people the wrong way backstage in WWE with his comments about Roman Reigns. Riddle recently said in an interview with the Bleacher Report that Reigns doesn’t “move the needle,” and isn’t a draw.

The reaction to Riddle’s comments was addressed recently in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. “There was a lot of heat in certain circles on Riddle for comments on Bleacher Report on Reigns. This was definitely not storyline related,” wrote Dave Meltzer.

“It was very much considered a negative by many with the basic theme that Riddle is incredibly talented, more so than he gets credit for, but he’s not very astute politically in the WWE jungle,” Meltzer continued.

Riddle has rubbed several WWE power players the wrong way. He’s had public feuds with Brock Lesnar and Goldberg, to name two. There’s no question that Riddle is a talented in-ring performer and fits the mold of WWE’s brand of Sports Entertainment. However, he could hinder himself by getting heat from the likes of Roman Reigns.

Riddle’s Comments About Roman Reigns

During the interview with the Bleacher Report, Riddle said Reigns doesn’t “move the needle.”

“No disrespect to Roman, he seems like a swell fella, but at the same time, it’s like when people say they’re a good parent. You know what? If you were a good parent, your kids would be telling you you’re a good parent. When he’s saying ‘Acknowledge me’ or ‘I move the needle,’ no, you don’t. You’re related to The Rock. Shut up. Like, I’m not impressed, I can beat you up in a real fight. So, shut your mouth.”

Riddle and Randy Orton won the RAW tag-team championships from AJ Styles and Omos at SummerSlam. They’ve since defended the belts against MVP and Bobby Lashley on this week’s edition of WWE RAW.

Riddle Sends Message To Roman Reigns: You’re Not Moving Needles

One half of the Raw Tag Team Champions, Riddle, is well aware of recent comments made by Roman Reigns on moving the needle.

Reigns made some headlines when he discussed the return of CM Punk. Reigns told Ariel Helwani of BT Sport that Punk was never as over or as good as John Cena or The Rock.

Riddle caught wind of that interview and told Bleacher Report that Reigns himself isn’t exactly moving the needle.

So, shut your mouth.

“You’re not moving needles. I’m the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we’re moving the needle, and that’s it. I don’t want to say too much, I’m not trying to get in trouble. Hey, hats off to him. He’s amazing at what he does. I do like what he does, but at the same time, it’s like, get off your high horse. You’re in that spot for a reason. You’re not a bro. You’re second generation. I’m first generation.”

Riddle has been known to ruffle some feathers. He’s had backstage run-ins with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. When it comes to Goldberg, Riddle seems to have been able to ease tension between the two. The incident with Lesnar was reportedly due to Riddle constantly calling him out in the media. It’s said that Lesnar told Riddle to stop talking about him because they’ll never share the ring.

As far as Reigns goes, he and Riddle aren’t likely to cross paths unless this year’s Survivor Series PPV has cross-promotional matches. Riddle has hit his stride on Monday Night Raw with Randy Orton as his tag team partner. Reigns is also on a roll with his “Tribal Chief” character on Friday Night SmackDown.

Riddle Reveals If He Prefers To Wrestle Brock Lesnar Or Goldberg

Riddle has a preference if he had to choose between a match with Goldberg or Brock Lesnar.

Riddle has been known to ruffle some feathers backstage in WWE. While some have grown to like his personality, others didn’t really have a great first impression of the former UFC fighter. Two of those athletes were Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

Back in 2019, Riddle and Goldberg had a backstage run-in. Goldberg let Riddle know he didn’t appreciate some comments made by him about his in-ring work. Riddle also reportedly had a run-in with Brock Lesnar where Lesnar told Riddle to stop talking about him because they’ll never share the ring.

At the very least it appears Riddle and Goldberg have smoothed things over. It’s gotten to the point where Riddle told the folks on The Bump that he’d prefer to face Goldberg over Lesnar.

“I’ll say this: I don’t want to talk too much trash, but both Brock [Lesnar] and Goldberg are premium competitors. Mr. Beast [Lesnar] came back. Mr. Beast came down to the ring and did his thing. I’m not a huge fan of Mr. Beast’s man bun. I’m a fan of his work and caliber of athleticism. So, good for him.

“Then, you’ve got Willie G., Goldberg. He was doing his thing. Him and Gage, they bring it; they’re a packaged deal. Honestly, Bill’s been kind of cool with me lately. Not too cool. Not that cool, but he’s been cooler. [Ryan Pappolla shouts out, ‘Building bridges’], Yeah. You know, the bridge was already destroyed. It got blown up. So, right now, we’re throwing some stones, and you can walk across the water.

“But if I had to pick a match between the two of them, if I’m going realistically, I’m thinking Goldberg. Goldberg at ‘Mania, I think that’s a possibility. I think I might convince him to actually wrestle me.”

Goldberg recently fell short in his bid for the WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam. On the same PPV, Riddle won the Raw Tag Team Titles with Randy Orton.

Riddle Talks Whether Or Not Adam Cole Can Succeed On Main Roster

Riddle has weighed in on whether or not he believes Adam Cole can succeed on the main roster.

The WWE future of Adam Cole has been a hot topic in the world of pro wrestling. Cole has been a top star on the NXT brand since 2017. As of late, however, NXT has reportedly been in the process of major changes. On top of that, Cole’s brief contract extension is set to run out soon and as of now, he has not re-signed long-term.

The general consensus is that if Cole decides to stick around with WWE, he’ll be brought up to the main roster. Speaking to Sportskeeda, Riddle discussed whether or not Cole can shatter the glass ceiling.

“Adam Cole is amazing at what he does. He’s one of the best wrestlers in the world, in my personal opinion. He’s very charismatic, has a good look, everything else. I don’t know, the main roster’s the main roster. A lot of people dread going up there because they don’t know what’s gonna happen to them and as they should be. The indies is like a small pond, and then NXT is like a small ocean, and then when you get to the main roster, you are in the ocean with all the wild animals and the currents and everything else. It’s just a different beast, and sometimes you get lost in the shuffle.

“You really do because there’s so many people, and it’s not like nobody’s talented. Everybody at this level is somebody. Adam Cole will be successful wherever he goes. He’s too good not to be. He cares too much. He’s too passionate. If he goes to RAW, he’ll be successful. If he goes to SmackDown, he’ll be successful. If he stays at NXT, he’ll be successful. He can do whatever he wants.”

Riddle has been able to find success on the main roster. In fact, he’s currently involved in his most high-profile angle to date. Riddle is teaming with future Hall of Famer Randy Orton and fans of Raw and SmackDown have taken a liking to him.

How do you think Adam Cole would fare on the main roster?

Riddle Comments On Heat With Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch

Riddle has become one of the bigger stars on RAW every Monday night. His RK-Bro team with Randy Orton has become a focal part of the show even when Orton’s not there. The UFC fighter turned WWE Superstar recently spoke to Talk Sport and the topic of backstage heat he had with Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch was discussed.

The Original Bro told Alex McCarthy, “I’ll be honest, I’ve met Seth multiple times and he’s met me and I don’t think we’ll ever be best friends I don’t think we like one another, we’re just two different people. We both love wrestling.”

The conflict between Riddle and Rollins started after Riddle’s partner posted some comments online about women on the WWE roster.

“Calling several main roster divas over the past two weeks for being straight skinny jiggly fat (not to say they aren’t pretty, just to say SQUAT),” she said in a since deleted post.

Riddle continued to talk about how these comments impacted his relationship with both Seth and Becky.

“I know my significant other said something about Becky that they didn’t like and I also did not like or agree with,” Riddle continued. “Seth didn’t like me after that and I don’t think Becky liked me or my wife either, which is understandable. It is what it is.”

Riddle and Seth Rollins Talk Backstage At Survivor Series

Riddle continued to say that he and Rollins spoke about their issues backstage at Survivor Series.

“We talked,” Riddle continued. “I said ‘Hey man, what was said, I don’t agree with it. I thought it was bullcrap. It’s not cool. I just want you to know I apologise, I apologise on her behalf as well.”

“On top of that I think you’re a great performer and if you would ever have it in your heart to work with me, I would love that.”

Riddle said the two appeared to squash their beef then but things still aren’t friendly between the two of them.

“I said ‘Thank you for listening and giving me the time, bro. I hope we’re good now.’ And I will say this, we’re good enough to be working together, I don’t think we’re friends.”

Riddle Believes He Could Completley “Redeem” Goldberg

WWE Superstar Riddle believes he could completely “redeem” former Universal Champion Goldberg.

Speaking with WWE on BT Sport, Riddle confessed he thinks the only way he could Goldberg into a ring with him is if “he just gets to murder me and I have to let him—like I have to let him do it because he couldn’t do it in real life.”

Riddle confessed he would love to have a “sweet match” against Goldberg. He admitted he thinks he’s good enough where he could “redeem him completely.”

He added how he’s not saying he would have to win their match. Riddle highlighted how he’s “not that guy.”

“I’m all about the quality of the work. So, hey, if we could make quality work and you’d would be willing to listen to what I have to say, I’ll listen to what you have to say. I will. But I think it could be magical, and I think the fans would eat it up.”

Riddle continued, “And they would because, you know what? The guy really doesn’t like me, and you know what? I really don’t like his work, to be fair. From Universal Solider 3 and beyond, not a fan. But I get it: he’s got a presence, just like I have a presence.”

Riddle: “I’d Be Scared Too, Bro”

Despite his eagerness for a bout against Goldberg, Riddle remains unconvinced a match will ever happen. He noted how Goldberg “literally refused to acknowledge me on multiple occasions.”

Riddle then admitted he doesn’t blame Goldberg for his reluctance, joking how he would “be scared too, bro” about the idea Riddle may shoot on him.

Ryback Talks Matt Riddle’s ‘New’ WWE Name Being a Positive Move

Former WWE Superstar Ryback recently discussed Matt Riddle and his new ‘name’ in WWE. It was recently confirmed that the former UFC star will now just be going under the name ‘Riddle.’

This move was reportedly made as Vince McMahon was concerned about Riddle’s past allegations of sexual abuse coming to light, especially on the likes of a Google search. Ryback would state how certain talents with just one name, himself included, actually benefited from the move in WWE.

“I mean the the names you just named (co-host Raj Giri named Goldberg, Rusev, Elias, Cesaro et al) they all had have had nice careers in WWE” Ryback began on the show.

Ryback on ‘Riddle’

Ryback elaborated further, saying “[or] now they are being used consistently. It would make sense that if they’re doing that [for Riddle]? There’s a reason WHY they’re doing it. Typically they wouldn’t just do that to someone they’re leaving catering every week, if that makes sense.”

The Big Guy would actually agree with WWE’s reasoning for the move. Typically, name changes in WWE (like Ali losing the Mustafa part of his moniker) aren’t universally welcomed. “I understand that from a business standpoint. And from the Googling standpoint? That makes as much sense as anything I’ve heard in a long time from them [WWE].”

Ryback would finish by pointing out one flaw with WWE’s perceived plan, in that if Riddle were to become popular enough the search results would still contain a litany of reports of the legal issues. “With that kind of stuff? If he becomes popular enough? Even if you just Google ‘Riddle?’ The first thing that’s gonna pop up is everything MATT Riddle.”

Do you agree with Ryback? Do you think that this could be another sign that WWE are looking to strap the rocket to Matt Riddle? Let us know in the comments
