Pro wrestling legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper continues to tease something coming up this Monday on his official Twitter account. While there isn’t any concrete details as to what the “Hot Rod” is referring to, you can draw your own conclusions from his latest tweet, which reads as follows:
THERE WILL NOT BE A MONDAY NEXT WEEK!!! #rodsadumbass
ps. but I got a good one for you!
Speaking of the WWE Hall Of Famer, he sent this tweet out today talking about training with the legendary “Judo” Gene Lebell, and mentioning the possibility of having UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey in his corner at WrestleMania XXX:
To the Dojo to spar with Judo Gene Lebell in my corner! Lets see what I've got! May get @RondaRousey in my corner for WMXXX! #nowthatscool
As previously reported, WWE Hall Of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper is teasing something for this Monday on his official Twitter account. Since his first tweet, Piper has posted another one regarding the Monday tease. The following is his latest tweet:
@RyanClarkWZR HAA!! I never lie to you Ryan! Monday could be a rough day for all..including myself! No more teasing, don’t want to hecks it!
Speaking of Piper, he has also been tweeting about the rumors that he will be competing against fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania XXX. The following are those tweets, both of which Piper posted today:
Dare you to put Hogan vs Piper! Separate the men from the Boys!
– Sports Illustrated released their list of the 50 greatest athletes of all-time. It should be noted that not one single professional wrestler, past or present, was featured on the list. The only mixed-martial arts athlete that was included on the list was UFC Hall Of Famer Royce Gracie.
– Two days after the WWE Network announcement was made in Las Vegas, “#WWENetwork” continues to be one of the top trending topics on Twitter.
– WWE Hall Of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper recently posted the following cryptic tweet on his official Twitter account:
I know something you don't know!! It happens Monday!! YOU WILL LOVE IT!! Hot Rod won't!! #HINT
– According to one source, WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan has been spotted in Las Vegas over the past couple of days. Whether or not his being in Vegas coincides with WWE making their “groundbreaking announcement” about the WWE Network tonight is unknown.
– Apparently WWE Hall Of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper forgot one of his main talking points during his “Piper’s Pit” segment on Monday’s Old School RAW show. Additionally, Piper reportedly had notes for his promo written on his hand.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about Monday’s Old School RAW:
Piper’s Pit: “Thought it was one of the better Piper’s Pit segments that we’ve seen over the past few years. Succinct, cut to the chase content, etc. Nice rub for the Shield. Roddy endorsing Punk did nothing but good as well.”
Brock Lesnar’s Segment With Mark Henry & Big Show: “No issues with Lesnar/Henry/Show but for anyone to think that Lesnar is as hot right how as he needs to be isn’t looking at Brock through honest eyes. His absence was long and Brock wasn’t red hot when he left. The former WWE and UFC champion is an amazing talent but he’s got little traction from where I sit and needs to promoted aggressively and soon if he’s expected to sell PPV’s at WM30. The good news is that it can be done.”
Daniel Bryan & The Wyatt Family: “I’m still confused as to where the Daniel Bryan/Wyatt Family storyline is headed. I’m trying to like it as I’m a big fan of all the men involved in the equation but I don’t know much more about their relationship or issues than I knew last week. As a fan, I needed a little more concrete info or a viable tease from these four men than I was provided.”
Jerry Lawler’s Health Scare: “Good to hear that Jerry Lawler is fine after Monday’s health scare. Sounds as if King had a stomach virus or food poisoning but NO heart issues Monday in Baltimore. I hope to have a conversation with King this week if he can work me into his busy schedule. It’s not easy being a combination of a superhero and Larry Flynt. :)”
Jake Roberts’ Surprise Return: “The final surprise of Jake the Snake Roberts was a good surprise. Jake looked good and he was well received. Via @DDPYoga and making smart, personal decisions, Jake has gotten himself healthier and the alternative if he had continued to travel his former road was bleak.”
With WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper scheduled for tonight’s Old School RAW, SEScoops.com can confirm that a special edition of Piper’s Pit is in the script for tonight’s show. His guests will be The Shield.
The segment will be used to continue teasing dissension among Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.
WWE United States Champion Dean Ambrose recently spoke to The Fairfax Times about being compared to WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper:
“I don’t see how you could not take that as a compliment,” Ambrose said. “He was a legend and a hall of famer. He was a guy who stirred the pot and drew a good amount of money. I feel like I haven’t really done anything yet. Not that I’m holding back — right now I’m just working as hard as I can in the role that I’m in. I still feel like I have a LOT of stuff in my back pocket that when the opportunity strikes … there’s a lot more to me than people have seen yet.”
He also talked about the impact The Shield has had in WWE since their debut, calling them the “backbone” of the company:
“We feel like we’re the backbone of the company,” he said. “We go out there every night and show off the work ethic that rubs off on everybody we work with. We go out there every night to have the best national show — whether it’s one or two matches, you got to work twice or whatever it is — we never take a night off.”
At this point, most in WWE feel that Hulk Hogan will be involved at WrestleMania XXX in some form or fashion.
WWE is considering a number of ideas on how to use Hogan at the big event. One idea has Hogan teaming with John Cena in a tag-team match against The Real Americans.
WWE officials are also discussing bringing in “Rowdy” Roddy Piper for WrestleMania XXX. Ideas involving Piper include Cena and Hogan against Piper and another heel in a tag-team match, Hogan and Piper together against The Real Americans, or a “Legends Match” featuring Hogan vs. Piper one-on-one.
AN APPEARANCE BY A LEGEND & TWO BIG MATCHES SIGNED FOR NASHVILLE! SATURDAY, JAN 4TH, 2014 – NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS
Ring of Honor’s first television taping of 2014 is less than two weeks away! On Saturday, January 4th, all the stars of ROH will be in Nashville. This event will host the first rounds of the 2014 Top Prospect Tournament. We can now confirm an appearance by a LEGEND and two more giant matches for
Nashville!
ROWDY RODDY PIPER will make a very special appearance Saturday, January 4th for the fans in Nashville. This will be a rare chance to meet a Pro Wrestling Hall of Famer. Autographs will be available for a fee.
“Mr Wrestling” Kevin Steen vs. Chris Hero
Finally, we know Chris Hero’s first opponent as he returns to ROH – Kevin Steen! While Hero has already been announced as part of a major tag team match at Wrestling’s Finest in Pittsburgh, Nashville will host his very first match back in Ring of Honor. At Final Battle, Kevin Steen defeated Michael Bennett in a brutal brawl that destroyed the ringside area. While an incredibly talented wrestler in his own right, in recent years former ROH Champion Steen has tended toward ring apron power bombs and steel chairs over trading holds with his opponents. Nashville is going to see a huge styles clash as he welcomes the technically savvy Chris Hero back to ROH.
Chris Hero has made clear he has his sights set on Adam Cole and the ROH World Championship. His return matches to Ring of Honor will be his chance to prove he is still one of the best wrestlers on the planet, and Hero knows all eyes are on him. A collision with Kevin Steen could derail the comeback before it’s even started – or it could be the catalyst that sends Chris Hero barreling straight toward Adam Cole and Matt Hardy.
ROH World TV Championship
ROH World TV Champion “Sicilian Psychopath” Tommaso Ciampa vs Silas Young
At Final Battle 2013, Tommaso Ciampa finally captured what has eluded him his entire Ring of Honor career: the ROH World TV Championship. He defeated longest reigning champion Matt Taven and destroyed the HOT at the same time. Ciampa has persevered a through horrifying injury and rehabilitation to begin 2014 more motivated and dominant than ever before. In Nashville, he makes his very first TV Title defense against Silas Young!
Nigel McGuinness is awarding Silas Young a TV Title opportunity after his Final Battle strap match victory against Mark Briscoe. Young has been building momentum in ROH and no doubt sees a title victory as a fitting way to kick off the year. Meanwhile, now that he finally holds ROH gold, there is no way Ciampa is losing his title without an all out war to defeat him. Be there in Nashville to see a huge match between two of the most intense, hardest hitting athletes in Ring of Honor!

-The following is another excerpt from the recent John Cena interview with the New Orleans Times-Picayune. This time, Cena discusses his recent matches with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania:
“I really got to live a dream the past few years having some big marquee matchups with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. And when you rub elbows with a guy like The Rock, you truly are in the company of the greatest of all-time. It was like watching a prize fight where everyone is just throwing haymakers. For us to be interactive over a 2 1/2 year span, it was pretty impressive, especially in this day and age. It was a dream scenario for me.”
You can read the complete interview online at NOLA.com.
-There will be a number of adult WWE Halloween costumes set for release this year, including WWE Hall Of Famers “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, The Iron Sheik, Sgt. Slaughter and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Rob Van Dam
Fandango
The Wyatt Family
The Uso’s
Curtis Axel
The Bella Twins
Among the WWE legends not included in the “30 Years of WrestleMania” mode, Roddy Piper stands out as one of the top names not featured in the game. WWE was reportedly hoping to feature the WrestleMania 1 main event in the game, Hulk Hogan & Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorf. 2K Sports reached out to Mr. T, but they could not reach an agreement, so WWE decided to scrap the match.
It’s still possible that Roddy Piper and the other main roster stars not included in the game will be released as downloadable content at a later time.
– Former WWE Diva Lisa Marie Varon (Victoria, Tara in TNA) was backstage at Monday’s WWE RAW from her home town of Chicago. She tweeted the following photo of herself with Paul Heyman and Layla:
The following are highlights from a recent interview with WWE Hall Of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
How he was drafted into the Klondike Celebrity Challenge: “I don’t know. It was pretty cool. If you go to the Klondike Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Klondike) you see what these people would make Roddy Piper do for a Klondike bar. The Klondike people were pretty smart because was they did was you go to the Facebook page and people come up with different ideas like hit someone with coconuts, chew bubble gum, fight Hogan again.
“But whoever comes up with the idea that gets picked, they have to do the idea also. So this guy named Eric — who is a nice guy but said he wanted to wrestle ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper — (laughs) I don’t think he heard the rest of the rules. I just came right through the door. I didn’t even open it! OK bud here we go! He did OK but I think they next day he had a tremendous amount of respect for pro wrestling as he limped in.”
Getting heat as a heel in his time compared to now: “Oh, they’re not even the same animal. I’ve been stabbed three times, the last one an inch from the heart in Raleigh, North Carolina. You know, we were pretty serious about what we were doing back then. It was more like gun fighters I guess. In 1982, 3, 4 the WWWF which was run by Vince McMahon, Sr., he called us all rebels who would work anywhere. And when you came into that locker room there was Hogan, (David) Schultz, (Don) Moraco, Andre (the Giant), Tony Atlas, Bruno Sammartino. It’s a pretty heavy-hitting crowd. Back then, they stabbed you. Now they don’t. I think that’s the difference.”
What it means to have been in wrestling for 45 years: “It’s done this. I’ve given me four of the most beautiful children in the world. Today is my wife’s birthday and on October 12 we’ll married 31 years. It gave me a family I never had. When I got to pro wrestling, I considered them my family. And because of that family I got my own family. And that’s the greatest gift of all.”
WWE Hall Of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has officially been added to the lineup for the WrestleCon festivities, which will take place during the big WrestleMania 30 weekend in New Orleans. “The Hot Rod” will be appearing to sign autographs and take photos with the fans in attendance at the event.
