Whether it’s good or bad, Ring Of Honor has gone through some changes since being acquired by Tony Khan and the latest is just ahead of their PLE this weekend, Final Battle.
While hyping some stars for the brand, ROH changed up the color scheme to its logo, using white fill in their lettering instead of the conventional black that they’ve been utilizing. However, the match graphics for Final Battle stick with the black logo. In addition for that, the ROH acount still has the black logo for their profile picture.
Below are some examples of the new look in comparision to was fans have been accustomed to.
Dig what I'm sayin'? Former #ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Righteous @NoNamexVincent & @DEATHxWALKS will be in action on #ROH TV!
Even if they haven’t fully adopted the new look for the brand, ROH has put in an effort to make Final Battle feel newsworthy.
Athena is set to defend her ROH Women’s Championship against Billie Starkz as the two have been involved in a long-term story that is set to culminate in the two’s clash.
There will also be a Survival Of The Fittest Match featuring Dalton Castle, Komander, Lee Johnson, Kyle Fletcher, Lee Moriarity and a mystery opponent.
Wheeler Yuta will put his ROH Pure Championship on the line against MLW’s Filthy Tom Lawlor. Yuta will be pulling double duty as he’ll team with Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley to face FTR and Mark Briscoe in six-man tag action.
Tony Nese will take on Ethan Page in an I Quit match, El Hijo del Vikingo will defend his AAA Mega Championship against Black Taurus, Keith Lee will fight Shane Taylor. ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships are on the line as Mogul Embassy faces TMDK and The Von Erichs will make a special appearance on Zero Hour to face The Outrunners.
ROH Women’s Champion Athena posted on Twitter that she had sustained a broken nose. That was cause for alarm, but she stated that she would still be participating in next week’s Ring of Honor Final Battle pay-per-view.
Later on, Athena removed the tweet, but PW Insider reported confirming the authenticity of the injury. The current ROH Women’s Champion is injured, but that won’t keep her from wrestling.
It seems that Athena incurred the injury during last week’s Collision and Ring of Honor taping in Montreal. She will be featured on the upcoming ROH episode on their streaming platform. While engaged in a scuffle with Billie Starkz, it is believed that Athena suffered the broken nose, possibly from being thrown into a guardrail or a ring post.
Athena’s deleted tweet mentioned that she had just received X-ray results confirming the broken nose. It appears that she will still wrestle Billie Starkz at Final Battle despite that setback.
We’re hoping that Athena has a speedy recovery, and it doesn’t cause too many issues for her upcoming match. You can check out the card for ROH Final Battle below.

8 Best Moments from ROH Final Battle
It was a rough way to start the PPV but the rest of the card was strong enough to overcome a letdown of an opener. Rush attacked the referee and apparently has been “suspended” for the attack at Final Battle.
Jose the Assistant took to Twitter to announce they have been “suspended” for a week by All Elite Wrestling. Jose noted that Preston Vance was not suspended because he wasn’t “too involved”.
RUSH “assaulted” a Referee. We got fined $$ for using chairs. We’ve been SUSPENDED for a week by #AEW. Preston didn’t get too involved and isn’t suspended. You can’t fool the fans, they know the match ending was BULLSHIT. #ROHFinalBattle #LaFaccionIngobernable

ROH Final Battle 2022 Preview
Two title matches were announced for the PPV this Saturday on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Dalton Castle competed in the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale but came up short. The match was eventually won by Ricky Starks, who will face MJF for the AEW World Championship and the Dynamite Diamond Ring next week at Dynamite: Winter is Coming.

ROH Final Battle 2022 is this Saturday night at 4 PM EST at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
There are currently only four matches on the card but presumably more will be added on Dynamite and Rampage. Chris Jericho will defend the ROH Championship against Claudio Castagnoli in the main event. Jericho defeated Claudio at Dynamite: Grand Slam to win the ROH Championship.
ROH Final Battle 2022 Preview
Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, AEW President Tony Khan hyped up the PPV this Saturday.
Tony was asked how Final Battle will stand out from previous ROH shows this year and here was his response:
Well, the ROH PPVs have been excellent for in-ring wrestling. I think so far we’ve seen at Supercard of Honor, at Death Before Dishonor, this new iteration of Ring of Honor you are going to see some of the best wrestlers in the world having some of the best matches in the world on these PPVs. Trying to build a consistent rhythm of great shows, and we are two for two so far. [09:21 – 09:46]
Tony then hyped up this Saturday’s main event for the ROH Championship between Chris Jericho and Claudio Castagnoli.
Now at Final Battle, it is the final major wrestling PPV of this year, and a lot of the big scores are going to be settled. Of course, it doesn’t get any bigger in Ring of Honor than the World Championship match. Chris Jericho versus Claudio Castagnoli.
Two great World Champions, and really we are seeing two men on top of their profession, two guys with completely different approaches and opposite philosophies to pro wrestling. But frankly, the issue has gotten very personal.
Not only are their approaches very different, but if Chris Jericho wins this match, Claudio Castagnoli has to join the Jericho Appreciation Society and go back to applying his trade as a sports entertainer.
He (Claudio) has been in a tag team with Jake Hager in the past. I see Jake has got a second bucket hat with Claudio’s name on it. That is what is in Claudio’s future if he cannot beat Chris Jericho this weekend. [09:47 – 10:47]
Tony praised Chris Jericho’s run as ROH Champion and noted that he’s going for “The Ocho”, his 8th straight victory over a former Ring of Honor Champion at Final Battle.
If you use any quotes from this article, please credit The Battleground Podcast with a H/T to SEScoops for the transcription.
Ring of Honor Final Battle will air on December 10th from College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
Chris Jericho will defend the ROH Championship against Claudio Castagnoli in the main event. Mercedes Martinez will defend the ROH Women’s Championship against Athena at the PPV.
Another title match was added to the card during tonight’s edition of AEW Rampage. Former IWGP Champion Juice Robinson appeared in a video promo during Rampage and challenged ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe. Juice noted that Joe may be the “King of Television” for now but he will dethrone him.
Samoa Joe captured the TNT Championship as well at AEW Full Gear on November 19th. Former TNT Champion Wardlow interrupted Joe on this past Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite and warned him that he’s coming for the TNT Championship. It was also announced that Samoa Joe will be defending the TNT Championship against Darby Allin on next week’s Dynamite.
Renee Paquette interviewed AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed tonight on Rampage. They said they wanted to fight the best and the crowd chanted “FTR!”. Gunn Club, Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, Satnam Singh, and Jay Lethal interrupted but The Acclaimed ignored them. ROH Tag Team Champions FTR made their way to the ring and shook The Acclaimed’s hands. It was later announced on Rampage that The Acclaimed will defend the AEW Tag Team Championships next week on Dynamite against FTR.
Another title match was set for Ring of Honor Final Battle during tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
ROH Final Battle will be held at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas on December 10th. The show has a special start time at 4 PM. NXT Deadline will air later on the same night from the Capitol Wrestling Center (WWE PC) in Orlando.
During tonight’s episode of Dynamite, Renee Paquette interviewed Jericho Appreciation Society’s Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Jake Hager, and ROH Pure Champion Garcia, as well as Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta in a backstage segment.
Claudio Castagnoli said he was going to prove that he can win the big one and defeat Chris Jericho for the ROH Championship at Final Battle on December 10th. Jake Hager claimed Castagnoli is a sports entertainer at heart and tried to get him to wear his patented giant purple hat.
Castagnoli stormed off out of frustration as Daniel Garcia laughed and claimed the Blackpool Combat Club is falling apart. Wheeler Yuta then went on a rant about Garcia and challenged him to a match for the ROH Pure Championship at Final Battle.
ROH TV & TNT Champion Samoa Joe also cut a promo tonight and referred to himself as “the King of Television”. Wardlow interrupted and said he’s coming after the TNT Championship. It will be interesting to see if Joe defends the the title at the upcoming PPV or possibly at Winter is Coming on December 14th.
The KING of Television, @SamoaJoe! But @RealWardlow has not forgotten, and has Samoa Joe in his sights.
A vignette for Powerhouse Hobbs was immediately shown after the Wardlow and Samoa Joe promo. Joe defeated Hobbs and Wardlow in a Triple Threat match at Full Gear to capture the TNT Championship.
Chelsea Green is set to appear on the end of an era ROH Final Battle 2021 PPV card tonight, in what could end up being Ring of Honor’s final ever pay-per-view event.
Green will be teaming with The Hex to take on Miranda Alize and The Allure on the actual card itself.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Chelsea Green is currently on a per-appearance deal with the company, meaning that she will likely not be getting any live event pay from ROH until at least 2022.
Fightful noted: “Chelsea Green confirmed to us that she’s on a per date deal with the company.”
Green does also work independent dates as well as being part of the IMPACT Knockouts division.
It is not confirmed if Green will be returning to ROH if and when they come back from their hiatus, but it is clear that she will not be getting paid by the company unlike other contracted stars who have deals that run until the end of March 2022.

Several issues have already plagued the card, with the ROH Championship match between Bandido and Jonathan Gresham having already been pulled due to Bandido testing positive for COVID-19.
Having said that, there are still a number of big matches on the card and some “surprises” coming that could be exciting for fans watching the show live or on-demand.

Despite being injured and unable to officially compete, Danhausen is reportedly making his way to the site of ROH Final Battle 2021 today.
It was recently confirmed by Fightful Select that the “Very Nice, Very Evil” star was set to be travelling today, and it looks as though he will be making somewhat of an appearance on the PPV tonight.
Fightful noted that “we’ve also learned that despite his injury, and signing in Chicago this weekend, Danhausen was slated to travel to the site of Final Battle.”
Again it is unconfirmed at this time if Danhausen will be appearing on the PPV itself, but it would certainly make sense for the injured star to do so if able.

ROH presented their final pay-per-view event, Final Battle, of the year on Friday night (December 18, 2020) from the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
The main event saw ROH World Champion Rush vs. Brody King. After a back and forth encounter, Rush emerged victoriously.

Rush’s current deal with ROH is set to expire at the end of this year while Dragon Lee has interest from other promotions. Ring of Honor Chief Operating Officer Joe Koff told PWinsider.com earlier this week that “conversations are ongoing” with both Rush and Lee about their future in ROH in 2021 and beyond.
ROH holds its Final Battle pay-per-view tonight (December 18, 2020), which marks the first special in months. Ring of Honor is slated to hold the show at the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The main event will see ROH World Champion Rush vs. vs. Brody King.
There will be changes made to a few matches on this card such as ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions Mexisquad vs. Shane Taylor & The Soldiers of Savagery and EC3 vs. Jay Briscoe. ROH has already confirmed that EC3, Flamita and Bandido were pulled due to COVID-19 protocols. EC3 has actually announced he tested positive for the virus.
It’s been reported ROH will announce the new competitors to replace these three stars during the pre-show.
ROH Final Battle can be purchased via traditional pay-per-view and the FITE app. The show will be four hours long with the first hour airing for free at 7 pm ET on ROH Facebook Live, FITE TV, and traditional PPV while the main card will begin at 8 pm ET.
