Roman Reigns’ Fans Overflow Into Samoa Joe Signing Area At WrestleMania Axxess (Video/Photos)

Roman Reigns’ VIP autograph signing event at WrestleMania Axxess in Orlando reportedly had fans lining up an hour and a half early. Recent RAW signee Samoa Joe didn’t attract as many fans at Axxess, and Reigns’ lines were so long that they used Samoa Joe’s autograph area for the overflow. Joe’s signing ended a half-hour early. Nikki Bella’s line also reportedly had fans waiting over an hour in advance.

The autograph sessions were at 8 AM on Saturday, just one day out from WrestleMania 33.

As previously noted, Reigns is currently the top merchandise seller of WWE’s full-time performers.

Looking At Roman Reigns’ Strong Merchandise Sales

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has noted that Roman Reigns has been the top merchandise seller of all of the full time talent on the WWE roster and that there is nobody ready to take his place. There has been speculation about the WWE possibly turning Roman Reigns heel due to the negative reaction he has been receiving from WWE crowds. Even though the crowd reaction to Reigns is mostly negative, the WWE also believes that he gets the biggest reaction out of anyone in the locker room. Triple H recently did an interview with Sports Illustrated and discussed the fan reaction to Roman Reigns. It doesn’t appear that the WWE has any plans to turn Reigns heel and Triple H argues that he already is a heel.

Triple H on Roman Reigns turning heel:

“People can look at Roman Reigns and say, ‘The failed attempt that is Roman Reigns,’ but Roman Reigns sells tickets,” said Levesque. “Roman Reigns gets one of the loudest reactions every night, whether that reaction is a boo or whether that reaction is a cheer. The fans who say, ‘I don’t understand why they don’t turn Roman Reigns heel!’ Isn’t he already?

“If you believe what you believe, and you’re saying, ‘How can they not turn him heel? There is 70 percent of the crowd booing him out of the building!’ If that’s your belief, then isn’t he already the biggest heel we have? If 70 percent of that crowd is booing him, then he’s a heel. We’re just presenting him to you in a different way that makes you hate him.”

Triple H Claims Roman Reigns is a Heel

Triple H spoke with Sports Illustrated recently, and addressed criticism the company has faced because of how they push Roman Reigns.

“Roman Reigns gets one of the loudest reactions every night, whether that reaction is a boo or whether that reaction is a cheer. The fans who say, ‘I don’t understand why they don’t turn Roman Reigns heel!’ Isn’t he already?”

Roman Reigns and John Cena Comparisons

The most natural comparison for Roman Reigns is John Cena. Similar to Reigns, Cena is pushed as a top babyface but receives a heel reaction from fans. Triple H addressed this comparison:

“I spoke with John in 2004 when I was going to work with him at WrestleMania, and he was a little bothered by the fact he was getting booed. I said to him, ‘Dude, it’s sold out. What do you care? You are the Yankees and the Red Sox in the same game.’ You cannot dictate to people anymore.”

Triple H continued to discuss problems the company faces when segments of their audience want to see different types of pro wrestling.

“Raw and Smackdown have to be pop music,” HHH told SI. “They have to appeal to the masses most. There is always a subset of people who’d rather listen to Metallica or Jay-Z, so we give those people NXT and 205. I give them the cruiserweights. Go to the U.K., it’s a different style with different talent. Now you can follow a local talent work his way from the U.K. all the way to NXT and to the main roster. Now you feel like you’re a part of helping that kid succeed.”

Roman Reigns Says The Undertaker’s Age Means Nothing To Him, Lilian Garcia On The Price Is Right

TMZ Sports recently caught up with Roman Reigns, who asked The Big Dog about facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. During this brief interview, The Deadman’s age came up as Reigns got asked if he can still go at 51 (The Undertaker actually turned 52 on Friday).

“He’s The Deadman. You’re talking age with The Undertaker? That don’t make sense,” Reigns replied.

“Come on, man. He could be 80 and still go, I think. What he’s done and how long he’s done it for I think he can do anything. So I don’t even worry about age or anything like that.”

Reigns also revealed his best bench press, squat and power clean numbers, and what he thinks are the greatest WrestleMania matches of all-time.

– Former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia will appear as a contestant on The Price Is Right this Friday on CBS as part of a “College Rivalry” special between alumni from Clemson University and her alma mater, the University of South Carolina.

WWE Hyping Fallout From Mick Foley’s Firing & Reigns/Taker Final Push For RAW

WWE.com has posted a couple of previews for Monday’s episode of Raw. Last week, Stephanie McMahon fired Raw GM Mick Foley. It appears that the storyline surrounding the Raw General Manager will continue on Monday. Below is a preview posted on WWE’s official website.

This past Monday night, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon unceremoniously ousted General Manager Mick Foley, using the two words that seem to come naturally to members of her family: “You’re fired!”

Now, mere days before WrestleMania, Raw is left without a GM, and with so many high-profile Team Red matches at The Ultimate Thrill Ride on April 2, one wonders if Stephanie is looking for someone new to quickly fill the vacant position, or if she will take on the responsibilities of running the show herself, as she did on Monday after Foley was forced to leave the building. Either way, Raw’s management — or lack thereof — should prove interesting in Philadelphia this Monday night.

The WWE also posted a preview for Monday’s episode of Raw that discussed the Roman Reigns/The Undertaker storyline. Monday is the final episode of Raw before Wrestlemania 33. The WWE is asking the question, has The Undertaker gotten inside Roman Reigns’ head?

The Undertaker emerged in Brooklyn to strike fear into the heart of Roman Reigns, but The Big Dog was ready, delivering a thunderous Spear that left The Deadman dazed … but only for a moment.

Like a scene out of a slasher flick, The Undertaker snapped up from the supine position and rose to his feet, letting The Big Dog know, in no uncertain terms, that it will take more than a Spear to keep The Phenom off his feet. As an eerie mist surrounded him on the entrance ramp, Reigns gazed awestruck at his otherworldly WrestleMania opponent. Perhaps this isn’t Reigns’ yard after all.

Roman Reigns Talks About Fans Booing Him (Video)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzgFKjTuY6c

Roman Reigns recently appeared on CBS Sports’ Boomer and Carton where he discussed the mixed crowd reactions to him that we hear every week on RAW. One of the hosts brought up that Reigns is a “good guy” character who gets booed, and asked Reigns if the fans are rebelling against what they know WWE’s writers want.

Reigns replied that it’s about what the fans want and if that entails booing him, so be it. “I’m a grown man, I got kids,” Reigns said, borrowing a phrase from Heath Slater. “I can handle it.”

The former World Heavyweight Champion says the fans are nicer when face-to-face, and that he’s never met a “hater” in person. Reigns also talked about his football career during the interview, which you can listen to at NewYork.CBSLocal.com.

WWE Monday Night Raw Recap & Reaction (3/13)

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw kicked off with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman in the ring. The crowd chanted “Suplex City” as Lesnar laughed in the ring. Heyman stated that Wrestlemania is the night that Brock Lesnar causes the announcers to scream “down goes Goldberg!”. A “Goldberg” chant started to echo throughout the arena. Half of the crowd tried to drown them out by booing. Heyman announced that Goldberg was not there this evening and the crowd cheered. Heyman told the fans chanting “Goldberg” to shut the hell up. Heyman bragged about Lesnar hitting an F-5 on Goldberg last week on Raw. Heyman claimed that when Lesnar wins the Universal Champion at Wrestlemania 33, it will go down as the greatest championship comeback in sports entertainment history.

Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley were shown backstage. Stephanie McMahon instructed Foley to scour the Raw roster and find someone to fire. Stephanie stated that Foley makes things too personal and needs to think more like a business person. Foley agreed to do it but looked nervous.

Sasha Banks vs Dana Brooke

Bayley and Charlotte were ringside for the match. Dana Brooke started off in control of the match and beatdown Sasha in the corner. Charlotte was yelling out orders to Dana Brooke from beside the ring. Sasha fought back and hit the Double Knees for a two count. Banks then rolled up Dana Brooke for an easy victory. Corey Graves tried to claim that Sasha cheated by grabbing the tights.

After the match, Charlotte grabbed a microphone and scolded Dana Brooke. Charlotte called Dana a disgrace and stated that she doesn’t deserve to be by her side. Charlotte said that she is finally get rid of Dana Brooke. Dana then attacked Charlotte and beat her down in the ring. Charlotte rolled out of the ring but Dana followed her and beat her down some more.  The crowd then started to chant “Dana” as Charlotte retreated backstage.

Winner: Sasha Banks

Akira Tozawa & TJ Perkins vs Brian Kendrick & Tony Nese

Tozawa knocked Kendrick out of the ring. Tony Nese went to check on his tag team partner but was interrupted by Perkins who hit him with a Hurricanrana outside the ring. Raw went to a commercial break with Tozawa and Perkins in control of the match. When Raw returned, Kendrick had Tozawa in a Chinlock and Neville was shown watching the match backstage. Tozawa went to tag in Perkins but Kendrick dragged TJ off the ring apron. Nese then went for a cover in the ring but Tozawa kicked out at two. Tozawa finally tagged in Perkins and he planted Nese with a springboard DDT but Kendrick broke up the pinfall. Tozawa hit Perkins off the ring apron. Tony Nese then shoved Tozawa into Perkins and Tozawa fell out of the ring. Nese then rolled up Perkins and grabbed his tights. The referee didn’t notice and Kendrick and Perkins picked up the victory.

Winners: Brian Kendrick & Tony Nese

Reaction: The first hour of Raw was good. Paul Heyman cut a great promo to kick off the show. The most surprising moment of the night was that the crowd actually chanted “Dana!” after she attacked Charlotte. Dana Brooke has struggled mightily on the main roster. Many of her matches have contained several botches. Having said that, I’m glad that she got that reaction simply because the Women’s division on Raw is incredibly thin. Bayley, Sasha Banks and Charlotte are the only ones that get any reaction from the crowd. Nia Jax should be in that conversation but the fact is that she has just not connected with the WWE Universe in any capacity. It could just be a one night thing, but Dana Brooke did get a reaction from the crowd. Hopefully she continues to improve in the ring and is able to provide the Women’s division on Raw another viable talent. There has been zero evidence on the main roster that she can provide that, but hey at least the crowd responded to her tonight.

Kevin Owens & Samoa Joe vs Sami Zayn & Chris Jericho

Owens cut a promo in the ring before the match. He had a spotlight on him and the crowd started to chant “Y2J”. Owens showed footage from last month where attacked Jericho at the Festival of Friendship. Owens claimed that Jericho never considered him his best friend either. Owens said that Jericho was just trying to get close to his Universal Championship. Owens claimed that he simply stabbed Jericho in the back before Jericho turned on him. Owens bragged about outsmarting Chris Jericho and said that Goldberg wouldn’t have won at Fastlane if it weren’t for Jericho interfering. Owens said that who needs best friends when you’ve got a destroyer and Samoa Joe came down to the ring.

Jericho and Samoa Joe started off the match. Jericho connected with a Dropkick off the second rope for a one count. Sami Zayn was then tagged in and connected with a couple of punches. Joe fought back and landed a kick to the side of Zayn’s head. Owens was then tagged in and he stomped on Zayn several times and taunted the crowd. Owens then kicked Jericho in the head and he fell off the ring apron. Zayn knocked both Joe and Owens out of the ring and then Moonsaulted onto both of them. Zayn grabbed his knee after the move, but powered through and rolled Joe back in the ring. Owens followed them and targeted Zayn’s knee.

Owens and Joe then beat the hell out of Zayn in the ring. The referee then disqualified Owens and Joe because they wouldn’t stop. Joe applied the Coquina Clutch and Owens stomped on Sami’s chest. Jericho got back in the ring and knocked Joe out of the ring. Jericho then went for the Walls of Jericho but Joe got back in the ring and broke it up. Joe then held up Jericho and Owens punched him in the face several times. Owens then hit a Pop-Up Powerbomb on Jericho.

Winners via DQ: Sami Zayn & Chris Jericho

Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley were once again shown backstage. Stephanie McMahon suggested that Foley fire Sami Zayn. Nia Jax interrupted and said that she should be in the Women’s Championship match at Wrestlemania. Stephanie McMahon then made a match between Bayley and Nia Jax later tonight.

The New Day were backstage and were promoting the new Jetson movie with WWE Superstars. The Big Show showed up to talk about the film but was quickly interrupted by Titus O’Neil. Titus shoved the Big Show because he was not a part of the movie.

Reaction: The New Day hold the record for longest tag team title reign. There was a point where I thought that they were one of the most entertaining aspects of Raw. Now, they are consistently thrown in crappy segments to sell ice cream or DVDs. They went from being the best tag team on Raw to a group of salesmen. Woods, Big E and Kingston are incredibly talented. I have no idea why they are in this role, but hopefully after Wrestlemania 33 they will return to performing in the ring.

#1 Contenders Match: Cesaro & Sheamus vs Enzo & Cass

Cesaro hit Big E with a Dropkick right when the match started. Big E shrugged it off and planted Cesaro with a slam. Cesaro fought back and tagged in Sheamus. Cass and Sheamus traded punches in the corner. Cass slammed Sheamus to the mat and tagged in Enzo. When Raw returned, Enzo was predictably stuck in the ring and was getting his ass kicked. Sheamus applied a Chinlock as Enzo desperately reached for a tag. Enzo got out of the Chinlock and Sheamus tagged in Cesaro. Enzo tagged in Big Cass and he leveled Cesaro with a couple of shoulder blocks. Cass then hit a Fall Away Slam and followed it up with a Splash onto Cesaro in the corner. Cesaro tagged in Sheamus but he was hit with a big boot that knocked him out of the ring. Gallows and Anderson then appeared and attacked Sheamus and Big Cass outside the ring. Gallows and Anderson then proceeded to beatdown Cesaro and Enzo. Gallows and Anderson hit the Magic Killer on Cesaro and posed in the ring.

Foley then confronted Gallows and Anderson backstage. Foley announced that Gallows and Anderson will defend the Raw Tag Team Championships against Enzo & Cass and Sheamus & Cesaro at Wrestlemania 33.

Roman Reigns vs Jinder Mahal

Reigns was beating Jinder down in the corner and the gong from The Undertaker’s theme music went off. Jinder used the distraction and kneed Reigns in the face. Jinder went for a pinfall but Reigns kicked out at two. Reigns connected with a Superman Punch and then pulled Jinder up and hit another one for the victory.

After the match, Roman Reigns grabbed a microphone and called out The Undertaker. Shawn Michaels came down to the ring for his annual “do you know what you are getting yourself into?” speech about The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Michaels stated that Reigns was already distracted and that The Undertaker is going to eat him alive at Wrestlemania 33. Reigns said that it should be The Undertaker that should be worried about him. Michaels claimed that he was on Roman’s side. Reigns said that The Undertaker retired Michaels and that Reigns is the guy that is going to retire The Undertaker. Reigns left the ring but was attacked by Braun Strowman on the entrance ramp. The crowd chanted “thank you Strowman” as the segment ended.

Reaction: I enjoyed this segment and the attitude of Roman Reigns during the promo. It will be interesting to see where Braun Strowman fits in here because as of now he isn’t in a match at Wrestlemania. I guess it is possible that he gets added to the Reigns and The Undertaker match if the WWE wants to take some of the stress off of The Undertaker for health reasons. It is also possible that Reigns beats the hell out of Strowman for a couple of weeks and then Braun is in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania 33.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Foley and Stephanie McMahon were once again shown backstage. Foley still hadn’t made up his mind about who he will fire tonight. Stephanie McMahon informed Foley that he had one hour to make a decision. If he didn’t fire someone within the hour, Stephanie would make the decision and Foley won’t like who she chooses to fire.

Austin Aries vs Ariya Daivari

Daivari controlled the beginning of the match and launched Aries out of the ring. Aries hit the ring apron on his way down. The match returned to the ring and Daivari leveled Aries with a Clothesline. Aries battled back and connected with a discus elbow for the victory.

Winner: Austin Aries

Big Show vs Titus O’Neil

Big Show hit Titus with three Chokeslams to win the match. It was announced that Big Show will be a part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania. I guess his rumored match with Shaq will not be happening.

Winner: Big Show

Bayley and Sasha Banks had a conversation backstage. Sasha told Bayley to ignore all the haters. Bayley didn’t know what Sasha was talking about. Sasha Banks described the haters as people that don’t view Bayley as championship material. Sasha then said that Bayley can defeat Nia Jax and then focus on Wrestlemania. Banks and Sasha then shook hands and Sasha walked away. Bayley had a confused look on her face as Raw went to a commercial break.

Chris Jericho was shown backstage icing his neck. Jericho announced that there will be a special edition of the Highlight Reel next week and his guest will be “the real” Kevin Owens. Jericho then called the interviewer Tom Phillips even though it wasn’t him. Jericho then added Mike Rome to the list for not being Tom Phillips.

Bayley vs Nia Jax

Nia controlled the match early and threw Bayley out of the ring. Bayley fought back and Raw went to a commercial break with Nia frustrated outside the ring. When Raw returned, Nia Jax was back in control of the match. Bayley battled back and tied Nia up in the ropes. Bayley connected with a Dropkick to the backside of Nia and she fell out of the ring. Back in the ring, Nia launched Bayley into the turnbuckle. Bayley went for a Crossbody off the second rope but Nia caught her. Bayley escaped and went for a DDT but Nia threw her across the ring. Nia then beatdown Bayley in the corner and the referee disqualified her because Nia wouldn’t stop. Nia then hung Bayley up on the turnbuckle and went for a Splash but the referee got in the way. Nia then dragged Bayley out of the ring and slammed her into the barricade.

Winner via DQ: Bayley

It was announced that Braun Strowman will face Roman Reigns next week on Monday Night Raw.

Stephanie McMahon came down to the ring and the “CM Punk!” chants started immediately. Raw GM Mick Foley then came down to the ring to announce which WWE Superstar he has chosen to be fired. Stephanie asked who it was and Foley stated that at first he couldn’t think of one Superstar that deserved to be fired. Foley then claimed that he had came up with a name and thanked Stephanie McMahon for giving him this oppurtunity to make Raw better. Foley then said the name he came up with was Stephanie McMahon and the crowd erupted into a “yes!” chant. Foley said that Stephanie was the only one on the roster that deserved to go because she doesn’t treat WWE Superstars like jokes rather than human beings.

Foley said he was looking into Stephanie’s eyes and all he sees is a really good liar and a really bad person. Foley accused Stephanie of colluding with her husband Triple H to get what they want in the WWE. Triple H then came down to the ring with a smirk on his face. Triple H called Foley a “fun little nostalgia act”. Triple H said that he worked so hard on creating the future so that he doesn’t have to look at “pathetic has-beens” like Foley. The crowd started to chant “CM Punk” once again. Foley said that the Raw Superstars envy him because he doesn’t have to pretend to like Triple H. Triple H then threatened to fire Dewey Foley and crush Noelle Foley’s dream of being a WWE Superstar. Triple H then told Foley to get the hell out of the ring and do whatever Stephanie says from now on.

Foley pulled out Mr. Socko and applied the Mandible Claw to Triple H. Stephanie then hit Foley with a low-blow and Mick fell to the mat. Triple H then approached Foley and Seth Rollins’ music hit. Rollins limped down the entrance ramp with his crutch and Foley rolled out of the ring. Rollins dropped the crutch and ran into the ring. Rollins and Triple H traded punches in the ring. Rollins then connected with a kick and knocked Triple H out of the ring. Triple H then got back into the ring with Rollins’ crutch. Triple H hit Rollins in the knee with the crutch and the crutch bent. Triple H then applied a Knee Bar hold to Rollins and Seth screamed in agony. Raw went off the air after Triple H hit him in the knee one more time with the crutch.

https://twitter.com/WWE/status/841487806530707457

Reaction: It looks like the Triple H and Rollins match is back on at Wrestlemana 33. That is a good thing because that is one of the only matches on the card that I’m really looking forward to. I’m assuming that Mick Foley is also done as Raw GM after he attacked Triple H. This could mean the return of The Authority with Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe being the ones that do Triple H’s dirty work. I find it odd that the WWE is making Nia Jax look like a monster, yet she is not a part of the Raw Women’s Championship match at Wrestlemania 33. Overall, Monday Night Raw was decent this week. There is at least things that happened on the show that are worth discussing in the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw? Let us know in the comments below.

Discussion: Do You Expect The Undertaker To Lose To Roman Reigns At Wrestlemania 33?

The Undertaker has been in the biggest match at Wrestlemania for years now. His matches may not always be the main event, but they almost always feel incredibly important. I was one of those that believed that the streak should have never been broken. I thought that if the streak were to ever come to an end, it would be in The Undertaker’s final match and The Undertaker would lose it to someone that the WWE wanted to make into a star. Instead, Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30 and the streak was over. Brock Lesnar wasn’t a bad choice to end the streak, I just did not see it coming at all.

The Undertaker will be facing Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania this year. The Undertaker has had health issues all year and it is impossible to predict if that match will turn out well or not. I’m not going to doubt The Undertaker and I’m sure the match will turn out just fine. Having said that, this is the first year in a long time where I haven’t felt like The Undertaker match is that important. This is also the first year I’ve ever went into a Wrestlemania expecting The Undertaker to lose.

The streak has been over for a few years now and the WWE is heavily invested in the success of Roman Reigns. It will piss everyone off but I would be surprised if Roman Reigns didn’t get the win at Wrestlemania 33. Fans often complain about Superstars of the past showing up during Wrestlemania season and stealing the spotlight. There are tons of people in the WWE Universe that are annoyed that two part-time performers, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg, are headlining Wrestlemania this year. I happen to be one of those people. However, I am also not interested in seeing Roman Reigns defeat The Undertaker.

There lies the inconsistency with wrestling fans, including myself. Everyone wants to see the next guy get the win over the star of the past, unless you aren’t really a fan of the next guy. There really is no reason for The Undertaker to defeat Roman Reigns at this year’s Wrestlemania. It is wildly inconsistent to complain about Goldberg defeating Kevin Owens and then hope The Undertaker defeats Roman Reigns. I just am not looking forward to seeing it because I grew up a fan of The Undertaker. The fact is that a lot of the WWE Universe view Roman Reigns as the future of the WWE and The Undertaker only has a few matches left in him. A victory over The Undertaker at Wrestlemania will only make Roman Reigns an even bigger star than he already is.

Road Dogg Calls Roman Reigns’ Haters An “Anti-Establishment Minority”

WWE producer “Road Dogg” Brian James recently took to Twitter to comment on the love/hate relationship between Roman Reigns and the WWE fans.

James saw a clip of Reigns hitting a spear at an untelevised live event and noted the crowd’s reaction. James referred to Reigns’ detractors as an “anti-establishment minority,” and says they don’t want the other fans to know that Reigns actually gets cheered when they aren’t there.

When a fan replied to James that he felt the crowd was mostly compiled of kids, James wrote “Their parents bought tickets too…. get it?!”

Do you think James is right with his estimation that fans who boo Reigns are the minority? Join the discussion in the comments below!

Breaking Down Everything That Was Wrong With Last Night’s Monday Night Raw (Editorial)

Opening Segment: Kevin Owens Cuts A Promo On Goldberg

Kevin Owens opened up Raw alone. There was no Chris Jericho by his side, nobody to hide behind. Instead, he sat in a chair and stated his strategy for defeating Goldberg at Fastlane. Owens vowed to outlast Goldberg. He said it is common knowledge that the longer a Goldberg match goes, the more likely it is that Goldberg will falter. Owens was going to address his attack on Chris Jericho last week but opted to drop the microphone and leave the ring. Two weeks before WWE Fastlane, the WWE wants you to take Kevin Owens seriously. He has spent months relying on others to help him win matches. If he drops the title to Goldberg, he was officially a paper champion. If he retains due to outside interference, he is the same old Kevin Owens. If he defeats Goldberg clean, then all of Goldberg’s mystique is gone heading into his match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

Enzo & Cass Become #1 Contenders For The Raw Tag Team Championships

After months of meaningless feuds, Enzo and Cass have finally been thrust into the Raw Tag Team Championship picture. They defeated Sheamus & Cesaro and will now face Gallows & Anderson for the titles at WWE Fastlane. Sheamus & Cesaro won the Raw Team Championships by defeating the New Day. The New Day were the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history. Sheamus & Cesaro then did nothing with the titles and promptly dropped them to Gallows & Anderson on the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show. After the match, Sheamus leveled Enzo with a Brogue Kick outside the ring. Cesaro congratulated Sheamus on laying out Enzo. Are Sheamus & Cesaro now heels? I guess those backstage segments with Bayley the last couple of weeks were pointless.

Roman Reigns Beatdown Both Gallows & Anderson

For the second week in a row, Roman Reigns was able to beat the hell out of the Raw Tag Team Champions. There has really been no explanation as to why Gallows & Anderson insist on fighting Roman Reigns. These Handicap matches have done nothing but make Gallows & Anderson look weak. Roman Reigns looks powerful, but he always has. The problem is that he has never been able to connect with the WWE Universe the way that the WWE apparently wants him to. Instead of feeding a random team like the Shining Stars to Reigns, the WWE has instead made the Raw Tag Team Champions look even weaker than they already did before this “feud” with Roman Reigns.

The New Day Are The New Enzo & Cass

After dropping the Raw Tag Team Championships, the New Day have been in random feuds with Titus O’Neil and now Rusev & Jinder Mahal. The New Day were named the hosts of Wrestlemania 33, presumably because the WWE has nothing for them to do. The New Day are now protecting their blueprints to their ice cream that is coming out this year. Why every Superstar they face is obsessed with these blueprints I have no idea. Since losing the United States Championship, Rusev has been relegated to a comedy act. Rusev was once feared as this dominant force, now he is stuck in segments like the one we saw last night.

The Women’s Division On Raw Is The Same Thing Over And Over Again

Charlotte has never lost a match on a WWE PPV, yet is routinely beaten on Monday Night Raw. Last night, she tapped out to the Bank Statement via Sasha Banks. Last week, Charlotte lost her Women’s Championship to Bayley. It was announced that Charlotte will get her rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Fastlane. Instead of slowly building Bayley up, she was given the Raw Women’s Championship on a random episode of Raw. Stephanie McMahon wanted Bayley to relinquish the title due to Sasha Banks interfering in her match with Charlotte last week. If Bayley drops the title to Charlotte at Fastlane, that will make Charlotte a 5x Raw Women’s Champion in under a year.

I find it hard to believe that Charlottes undefeated PPV streak would end at Fastlane. It would make much more sense for that moment to happen at Wrestlemania. It also would have made more sense for Bayley to overcome Charlotte and The Authority and finally get her moment at Wrestlemania. Instead, we’ve already seen that moment of her winning the Raw Women’s Championship. The other option is for Bayley to retain and face either Sasha Banks or Nia Jax at Wrestlemania. The problem with that is that Nia Jax receives virtually no reaction from the WWE Universe. Sasha Banks has zero momentum right now and Wrestlemania is five weeks away. It just seems like the better story would have been to hold Bayley down until Wrestlemania. Charlotte could have screwed Bayley out of winning the Raw Women’s Championship until the biggest show of the year.

Roman Reigns Is In No Man’s Land

Roman Reigns has gotten his ass kicked two weeks in a row by Braun Strowman. Reigns will face Strowman at WWE Fastlane. If he defeats Strowman at Fastlane, people will be pissed off. If Reigns loses, what does he do at Wrestlemania? As of now, Roman Reigns is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemania. I’m not sure if the WWE thought that placing Reigns in Handicap matches would cause the audience to be more receptive to him. Whatever they were going for, it hasn’t worked at all.

Michael Cole made it a point to say that Roman Reigns sent a message after he beatdown Gallows & Anderson. I have zero clue what that message is supposed to be. Is Reigns going to face Strowman at Fastlane and then again at Wrestlemania? Reigns is a no win situation right now. If he gets thrust into the Universal Championship picture before Wrestlemania, people will get pissed off. If he is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemana, that feels like a waste. Say what you want about Roman Reigns, at the very least he generates a reaction from the WWE Universe. Right now, he seems to be in a position where the WWE Universe does not want him to succeed, yet the WWE still wants him to be a top guy.

John Cena Championship Celebration Scrapped, Joe vs. Reigns in Slow-Mo

– WWE Champion John Cena will be on this Thursday’s “Off the Top Rope” ESPN SportsCenter segment with Jonathan Coachman.

Cena achieved a major milestone when he tied Ric Flair’s record for the most world championship reigns by defeating AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble, but WWE did not make a huge deal out of Cena tying Flair’s record. We’ve heard from multiple people that a more elaborate celebration was planned, but WWE wound up writing it out of the show. WWE did acknowledge Cena tying Ric Flair’s record and Flair was on hand to congratulate the champ, but what we saw was far from the original plan.

Cena defends the WWE Championship this Sunday inside the Elimination Chamber and a short-title reign could be the reason for the lack of recognition at the Rumble.

– WWE posted this slow motion video from Samoa Joe’s RAW debut last night against Roman Reigns.

Speaking of Joe’s RAW debut, Triple H tweeted the following after Joe defeated Roman Reigns in the main event of the evening.

WWE Fastlane Matches Announced

It was confirmed on Monday’s RAW that Universal Champion Kevin Owens will defend against Bill Goldberg at Fastline, the final stop on the road to WrestleMania.

Also confirmed for the show is Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns.

Fastlane will take place on 3/5 from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

WWE Superstars Predict Super Bowl, 4 Things The Undertaker Hasn’t Accomplished, Who Is The Tom Brady Of The WWE?

The WWE uploaded a video to their YouTube channel of Superstars making their predictions for the Super Bowl. Nikki Bella, Kofi Kingston, Mojo Rawley and Sasha Banks picked the New England Patriots. Xavier Woods, Titus O’Neil, AJ Styles and The Miz picked the Atlanta Falcons.

The WWE posted another video entitled 4 things The Undertaker hasn’t accomplished yet. The four thing are have a match in NXT, defeat Vince McMahon, win the Intercontinental Championship or win an Iron Man match.

WWE.com is currently running a poll of which Superstar would you consdier be the WWE equivalent to Tom Brady (multiple titles, one of the greatest ever, polarizing among fans). 61% of the vote so far has gone to John Cena. Triple H and “Other” are tied with 15%. Roman Reigns is currently in last place with 9% of the vote. If you’d like to vote, click here.

Kenny Omega has taken the time today to respond to a few WWE fans who criticized him. Here is Kenny Omega’s original tweet that drew some backlash from fans on social media.

A Twitter user responded and criticized Omega for commenting on the WWE match.

Omega responded and basically called emoji-face-guy a fan boy.

Emoji-face-guy wasn’t too fond of Omega’s retort and let him know about it.

Emoji-face-guy then argued with more people but kept Kenny Omega’s Twitter handle in all of the tweets. Eventually, Kenny Omega responded again.

Finally, Kenny Omega retweeted the following post.

Wrestling LAD posted a compilation of people reacting to Roman Reigns coming out at number 30 during the Royal Rumble.

Discussion: Why Was Roman Reigns Even In The Royal Rumble?

Roman Reigns entered the Royal Rumble match last night at number thirty. There were rumors swirling around for weeks that there would be some big names showing up at this year’s Royal Rumble. Samoa Joe, Kenny Omega, Kurt Angle and Finn Balor were some of the names people were throwing around that might show up at the Royal Rumble. None of them did. That would be fine if Roman Reigns didn’t enter the match last night.

The crowd in San Antonio was ready to erupt for whomever came out an number thirty. They were hoping for a gigantic surprise and were ready to jump on their feet to celebrate. Everyone watching around the world on the WWE Network were ready to see who that last man was going to be. Who was going to go face to face with The Undertaker, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt to determine who would be main eventing Wrestlemania. The buzzer hit, there was a second of silence and out came Roman freaking Reigns.

It has become a yearly tradition. The Royal Rumble inevitably falls apart and the WWE Universe collectively loses their minds. The stakes are massive at the Royal Rumble and it essentially signifies the direction the WWE is going in. When Roman Reigns came down to the ring, there was a collective thought of “holy sh** here we go again”. I was completely shocked that Reigns was in the Royal Rumble and I started to just root for anyone to win the match besides Roman Reigns.

Roman Reigns lost his match with Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship last night before the Royal Rumble match. It makes absolutely no sense for him to be apart of the match. If he was there, why didn’t AJ Styles get a spot in the match? All of these thoughts were going through my head that I barely had any time to comprehend that Roman Reigns actually eliminated The Undertaker.

Randy Orton eventually own the Royal Rumble and I was just ecstatic that Reigns didn’t win it. I couldn’t believe that the WWE was once again going to attempt to shove Roman Reigns on the WWE Universe. Randy Orton wasn’t even on my radar of Superstars that I wanted to see win the Royal Rumble. However, I was happy that he did because I have absolutely zero interest in Roman Reigns main eventing another Wrestlemania.

In my reaction article, I said that the Royal Rumble was great. It was until Roman Reigns showed up in the Royal Rumble match. Then I was just happy that Roman Reigns didn’t win. I still think last night’s show was very good. Kevin Owens and Reigns put on a very good Universal Championship match. AJ Styles and John Cena stole the show and put on a terrific WWE Championship match. However, the fact that Roman Reigns was even in the Royal Rumble has been bothering me more and more as time goes on.

I thought it was a given that if you are in a match for a major title, you are not in the Royal Rumble match on the same night. Apparently those things do not apply to Roman Reigns. At this point, none of this negative reaction is the fault of Roman Reigns. He is who he is. I’ve always thought he would be best served to just come down to the ring, say very little and kick ass. Instead, the WWE is seemingly determined to have Reigns be something that he is not. He is simply not “The Guy” in my opinion. The only reason I can come up with that Reigns was in the Royal Rumble match was that the WWE wanted to annoy people. If that was the goal, then mission accomplished.

WrestleMania 33 Plans For Roman Reigns, Title Matches, More

With just days until the 2017 Royal Rumble, WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 33 are still being finalized, with several top stars still without certain opponents. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, here’s what’s currently being considered Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker is on the books as one of the headline matches.

The Observer also reports that current plans do not have AJ Styles and Kevin Owens going into WrestleMania with the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship. Styles is scheduled to defend against John Cena this Sunday at Royal Rumble while Owens will defend against Reigns.

Another WrestleMania match in the works is Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt. Rumors have Orton winning the Rumble and and Wyatt winning February’s Elimination Chamber match, setting up their WrestleMania match for the WWE Championship.

As noted earlier this week, John Cena vs. Samoa Joe has been discussed in recent weeks, but is not confirmed. Whether nor not that match happens, Joe is due to join the main roster soon.

Kevin Owens & Roman Reigns Note, Goldberg Dream Matches, 6 Superstars To Watch In 2017

Last night, the WWE held a live event in Georgia that saw Universal Champion Kevin Owens losing to Roman Reigns in a United States Championship match. Owens has wrestled Roman Reigns in a singles match 18 times since the brand split and has won only two of them. His two victories against Reigns were at WWE Roadblock: End of the Line and on the September 12th, 2016 episode of Monday Night Raw. A lot of these losses happened at house shows. However, when Owens was wrestling Seth Rollins at live events after the brand split, Owens was winning regularly.  Owens usually only wins matches when Chris Jericho is there to help him out. Kevin Owens and Jericho will get another shot at the United States Championship this Monday on Raw.

The WWE has posted an article listing off five dream matches they would like to see for Goldberg. The names on the list were Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, AJ Styles, John Cena and The Undertaker. You can read the entire article by clicking here.

The WWE also released a new video of 6 Superstars to watch in 2016. The 6 names on the list were Bayley, Brock Lesnar, Jack Gallagher, Nikki Bella, Bray Wyatt and Tye Dillinger. You can check out the video below.

Championship Handicap Match Added To Monday’s RAW

WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns will defend against Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens in a 2-on-1 handicap match at Monday’s WWE RAW from New Orleans, LA.

Monday’s show will also feature WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker making their returns.

Discussion: What Did Goldberg’s Appearance On Raw Last Night Accomplish?

I’ve expressed my opinions on the Brock Lesnar and Goldberg match at Survivor Series before. To sum it up, I didn’t enjoy it. I thought it was done for shock value and that it made no sense for Goldberg, whom hasn’t been in a wrestling ring for over a decade, to dismantle Lesnar in 86 seconds. It was a snap judgement on my part. I found it cheap and was just done so that people would send out tweets about the match. Since Survivor Series, I’ve been proven wrong because the Goldberg and Lesnar storyline has continued and more weight has been put behind it. However, last night’s closing segment on Raw completely baffled me.

It was the debut of the Kevin Owens Show and his first guest was Goldberg. Owens and Jericho cracked jokes for a couple of minutes and Goldberg eventually joined them in the ring. Goldberg pretty much just said that he was going to win the Royal Rumble match and take the Universal Championship from either Kevin Owens or Roman Reigns. Paul Heyman then came out and said that Brock Lesnar was going to eliminate Goldberg at the Royal Rumble. Roman Reigns then emerged (without his United States Championship) and said that he was going defeat Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble and defeat whomever he has to face at Wrestlemania. Roman Reigns and Goldberg then had a stare down and Braun Strowman interrupted. Strowman stated that he was the one that was going to win the Royal Rumble match. The segment ended with Goldberg and Reigns hitting a Double Spear on Strowman. For some reason, everyone besides Goldberg then exited the ring and allowed him to celebrate in the ring.

I didn’t get it. The promo felt clunky and rushed. Chris Jericho also said that he was entering the Royal Rumble and Kevin Owens was upset about that. Owens was upset about that because he didn’t want to wind up having to defend his Universal Championship against his best friend, Chris Jericho, at Wrestlemania. There were just so many storylines and personalities crammed into that ten minute promo to close the show. Goldberg completely got lost in the shuffle and his presence didn’t feel special at all. I’m guessing that the WWE thought that the Double Spear with Reigns and Goldberg would be an epic moment but the crowd barely reacted.

Let’s breakdown Goldberg’s interactions to close last night’s Raw. Goldberg had a confrontation with Kevin Owens. Goldberg also threatened Chris Jericho when he announced that he was joining the Royal Rumble match. Goldberg then told Paul Heyman that he was going destroy Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Goldberg then had a stare down with Roman Reigns. Finally, Goldberg Speared Braun Strowman. My point is that there was just way too much going in that segment. Goldberg’s appearances are limited so they should feel special. There shouldn’t be multiple storylines all crammed into one segment that feature someone as established as Goldberg.

Roman Reigns Responds To John Cena, Says He Has No Clue

As reported earlier, Roman Reigns responded to a video of him breaking character while stuck in a Kevin Owens headlock at a WWE house show this week. Reigns was laughing at Owens yelling at fans about how much money he makes. Reigns responded to the video on Twitter and cracked a joke about Owens’ merchandise checks from WWE. This brought a response from John Cena, who pointed out how he was working out while Reigns was making fun of what people earn.

Reigns took to Twitter this evening and responded to Cena with these harsh words:

As of this writing, Cena has not replied but we will keep you updated.

For those who missed it, below is the original video with Reigns’ joke and Cena’s response:
