The Undertaker Gives Roman Reigns His Flowers After Historic Championship Run Ends

The Undertaker has given Roman Reigns his flowers for an incredible championship run, after helping put an end to it.

The Dead Man talked about his WrestleMania 40 experience on the latest episode of the Six Feet Under podcast. During the episode, he revealed that his surprise appearance during the main event match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns helped him get closure for his own wrestling career.

What A Phenomenal Run: The Undertaker

Speaking about the backstage environment after the main event match, The Undertaker said that emotions were running high. He then praised Roman Reigns for his historic run, mentioning how you have to go back to the era before the internet and social media to find a comparable record:

“Man, there was a lot of really emotional moments backstage. You can imagine Roman coming back and after just…what an amazing run as champion. If you look at it, and put it in today’s market, what a phenomenal run.

It’s not going to go down to the record books as the longest world title run but when you look at it in actuality with as much coverage, as much media, as much exposure that you have now. I mean, you have to go back to someone like [Bob] Backlund’s run and Hogan’s early run. They didn’t have social media. They didn’t have as much live TV or they didn’t wrestle at all on TV.”

Kudos To Everyone Involved

The WWE Hall of Famer discussed how to keep the interest of the audience at a time when you are overexposed to wrestling is a huge achievement. The Undertaker praised everyone involved in the angle for the great storytelling through the whole run:

“The biggest part of that is to be able to maintain and keep the people’s interest in that storyline for that long. I mean, absolutely [best storyline we have seen in years] there were so many layers to it.

But kudos to him and everybody that worked on all of that because that’s difficult to do. Really difficult to do and do well. There was some really, really good storytelling involved in that.”

The Last Outlaw was one of the legends involved in the WrestleMania 40 main event match between Rhodes and Reigns. He made a surprise appearance to stop The Rock from interfering in the bout. This allowed The American Nightmare to finally finish his story. If the latest reports are to be believed, however, the spot was originally planned for a different legend.

Tables, Ladders, Chairs & The Undertaker?! Wrestling Gender Reveal Match Goes Viral

A unique gender reveal party recently went viral as two wrestlers fought to reveal the sex of a couple in attendance at the match.

The match starts with two wrestlers, donned in pink and blue and despite the size disadvantage, blue dominates the early portion of the match. Pink turns the tide by introducing a table and the two competitors would introduce a steel chair and a ladder shortly after.

A glass bottle to the head of Pink saved Blue from being pinned, and he’d muster an Undertaker-inspired comeback to get the win. After the match, the expecting couple celebrated that they were having a boy. While officials tried to stretcher Pink away, his weight proved to be too much for them.

You can check out the hysterical gender reveal match below.

When Wrestling Goes Viral

This gender reveal isn’t the first time that the world of professional wrestling has gone viral outside of a traditional wrestling promotion. In March, a fan of WWE arrived to his own wedding with a Bloodline-inspired entrance, in which they served as the Roman Reigns of the group. Reigns would even react on Twitter to say that the union had been “acknowledged.”

Showing your love for wrestling on your big day has happened multiple times over the years. During a wedding a few years ago, the bride arrived to Becky Lynch’s music and set the tone for the ceremony with some kendo stick shots.

Weddings and gender reveals are huge moments in people’s lives and giving them a wrestling twist is a fun play on the traditional. And we imagine that the couple’s future son may be interested in professional wrestling once he arrives in the world.

Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins’ WrestleMania 40 Storyline Arc Explained

The word ‘cinema’ has been thrown around a lot to describe WWE’s storytelling over the past year, particularly the gripping Bloodline saga involving Roman Reigns, The Usos, Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman. As great as all that has been, the main event of Sunday’s WrestleMania XL spectacular delivered perhaps the greatest masterstroke of all.

Nearly a decade after the breakup of The Shield, Seth Rollins delivered on his promise to serve as Cody Rhodes’ ‘shield’ by sacrificing himself to bring down the Tribal Chief. Reigns was nearly unbeatable, but Rollins placed a winning bet on the belief that his former ‘brother’ would be unable to resist exacting revenge, one of the msot al seven deadly sins.

Apart from Cody Rhodes finishing his story, the tension between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns was one of the talking points. There was no shortage of drama or layers of depth to dig into. The former Shield members have a long history together and WWE played out an angle beautifully that has been in the making for over ten years.

Seth Rollins is one of the key figures who helped in building what could be regarded as one of the greatest stories ever told in WWE. After all, he is ‘The Architect.’ He was among many superstars who came to the aid of Cody Rhodes, who dethroned Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Let’s take an in-depth look into the angle between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, thanks to Mith Gifs Wrestling.

Reopening old wounds

Roman Reigns’ decision to exact revenge upon Seth Rollins cost him everything

‘The Visionary’ is a master of playing mind games and he got into the head of ‘The Tribal Chief.’ Reigns had the chance to hit Cody Rhodes with a steel chair to win the match but he ended up deciding to hit Seth Rollins in the back, mirroring Rollins to dissolve The Shield back in the day.

Reigns certainly got flashbacks of the betrayal and couldn’t help but get his payback. However, at the cost of the title which he held for 1,316 days.

Seth Rollins, who was partly responsible for the creation of the ‘monster’ knew that Roman would be unable to contain himself long enough to exact revenge on his former Shield brethren. ‘The Architect’ did what was necessary to bring down the monster he helped create.

The Hero’s Shield

After what went down at WrestleMania 40, fans soon recalled what Rollins told Cody Rhodes back in February. During a fateful promo on WWE Raw, Rollins said:

“When it comes to fighting Roman Reigns, there is only one man on earth, who is uniquely suited to be your shield.”

Well, Rollins is a man of his word. He took the bullet for and protected Cody.

Mind Games

Last year, it was Sami Zayn who backstabbed ‘The Trible Chief’ in a similar fashion, which still haunts him to this day. Betrayal has been Roman Reigns’ worst fear and Rollins was well aware of that.

Rollins could get into Roman’s head like no one else and from time to time, he has messed with his former Shield teammate. This is something ‘The Tribal Chief’ couldn’t escape and thus Rollins managed to outwit his former friend despite getting attacked.

Well, this is not the first time Rollins reopened Reigns’ old wounds. At the Royal Rumble in 2022, Seth deliberately messed with Roman when he walked out to the Shield’s old music, wearing the Shield’s old gear ahead of the title match.

During their match, Seth mocked Roman and even offered the Shield fist bump which caused Roman to snap and got Rollins in a guillotine choke. It was comprehensible enough that Rollins controlled Roman’s emotions. With rage and trauma getting the better of him. Roman Reigns refused to relinquish the hold and that night Rollins won the contest via DQ.

The Next Chapter

Seth Rollins had dropped the World Heavyweight Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 40. Meanwhile, with Roman Reigns returning empty-handed as well, there is a huge possibility that we could witness another feud between the two down the road.

Will they ignite a new rivalry to settle the dispute once and for all? With Triple H at the helm of this new era, wrestling fans can rest assured that it’s safe to invest in these longterm stories.

Roman Reigns Breaks Silence, Has Finished Mourning WrestleMania 40 Loss

Roman Reigns has finished ‘mourning’ his recent defeat and has taken the first step to rising to the very top of WWE once more.

The now-former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion lost the title to Cody Rhodes in the main event of WWE WrestleMania 40: Sunday. The title change marks the end of a historic 1,316-day reign for Roman Reigns who had dominated for three-and-a-half years.

Taking to social media, the Head of the Table made clear that he has mourned for his title loss and has embarked on ‘Day 1’ of the next chapter of his career.

What’s to Come for Roman Reigns?

Reigns is expected to take a break from WWE programming and is not expected to appear at WWE’s next Premium Live Event, Backlash: France. Reigns is similarly not being advertised for the upcoming WWE Clash At the Castle: Glasgow event that will see the roster return to the UK. He is expected to appear at WWE SummerSlam this August in Cleveland, Ohio.

While Reigns won’t be appearing on TV for some time, there are said to be big things in the works for the Tribal Chief. On the post-WrestleMania 40: Sunday press conference, WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque said that a “whole new story” for Reigns is coming that will take him “to a whole ‘nother level.”

Reigns has also earned praise from Cody Rhodes despite their on-screen issues. On the Pat McAfee Show, Rhodes called Reigns an “exceptional champion” and hopes he “can be half the champion Roman Reigns was.”

Triple H: The Next Chapter In Roman Reigns’ Story Is Going To Blow People’s Minds

Triple H is promising that the story of Roman Reigns is not finished after WrestleMania 40.

The run of The Tribal Chief since his heel turn in 2020 has been one of the most epic storylines WWE has ever produced. Now that it’s over, there has been a lot of curiosity on what’s next for the now former Undisputed Champion.

The WWE Chief Content Officer talked about Reigns in the post show press conference after WrestleMania 40. He claimed that after the latest run, Roman is for certain one of the greatest of all time:

“Before I talk on Cody, let me talk about Roman. There’s a lot of banter about greatest of all time. You can make arguments for a lot of people in that and there’s a lot of metrics that you could measure that by, or opinions or whatever that is. If he is not the, he is one of, absolutely for certain – the greatest of all time.

To do what he has done, to overcome all the things in his career. The positioning and the stuff that he had to get through and hung in there to get where he needed to be. To deal with his physical issues and his health issues to overcome, the pandemic to overcome.

Just everything that he has had to deal with, on the way here. Then to go out there and put on a run like nobody has ever put on before. A run of just epic, epic moments, epic storytelling. I see that word cinema thrown around a lot but it really is.”

Roman Reigns Is Going On A Whole New Story: Triple H

Triple H discussed how Roman Reigns has changed the business in many ways through his run. Though he proclaimed that his story is far from over and teased that The Head of The Table is going to take things on a whole nother level:

“There’s few guys that come along in our business where you say, during that period of time that they were in it. They changed the industry. He changed the industry. I mean that in front of the camera, I mean that behind the camera, he’s changed the industry. He’s that good. I can’t say enough good stuff about him.

Then to do what he did tonight with Cody Rhodes, it’s not completing the story. It’s just getting to the end of this chapter. Because he’s gonna go on a whole new story now that is going to blow people’s minds I think. I know he’s going to take it to a whole nother level, but I can’t tell you how much respect I have for Roman Reigns.”

The last time Triple H promised something like this was when Cody Rhodes lost the WrestleMania 39 match against Roman. He claimed that Cody’s story wasn’t finished and it led us on a year-long journey that concluded tonight. A promise similar to that suggests that there are some plans already in place for the former champion and we should gear up for another epic ride.

Watch What Happened With Roman Reigns After WrestleMania 40

The story has finally been finished and Cody Rhodes can go home to his family with the Universal Championship, but the nightmare is only beginning for Roman Reigns.

The Tribal Chief’s unbelievable run as the top champion of WWE came to an end at tonight’s WrestleMania 40 from the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The match was easily the most star-studded bout in the history of WrestleMania main events. Bloodline rules allowed outside interference which means apart from Cody and Roman, we also got to see names such as John Cena, The Rock, and even The Undertaker getting involved.

In the end, it was Rhodes’ resilience that did the job. He finally overcame the odds to defeat Roman Reigns and present the title to his mother as he had promised.

What Happened After WrestleMania 40

The show ended with The American Nightmare celebrating the biggest win of his career with his family as well as a number of top WWE stars such as CM Punk, Randy Orton, and even Triple H.

There was another side of this story however and in the post-show footage that has surfaced, we can see Paul Heyman consoling his Tribal Chief on the stage after his big loss:

It’s anyone’s guess what WWE has in store for The Head of The Table after this historic run has come to an end. Though The Rock has suggested that his involvement with WWE will continue beyond WrestleMania 40.

The intrigue of a singles match between the two cousins is still there. While The Great One is likely to step away for some time due to his other commitments, it won’t be a surprise if we see him back into the WWE ring sooner or later.

Roman Reigns Confirms His Leukemia Is Still In Remission

Roman Reigns has revealed that he is still taking oral chemotherapy for leukemia and it’s a battle that he is going to have to continue fighting for the rest of his life.

The Tribal Chief teamed up with his cousin The Rock in the main event of WrestleMania Saturday to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. During the bout, Pat McAfee on the commentary noted that Roman Reigns is still battling leukemia.

This revelation concerned people due to Reigns’ history with the disease and he was asked about it during the post-show media scrum. The Undisputed Champion confirmed that he is still in remission. Though he also revealed that the oral chemotherapy is likely to continue for the rest of his life:

“Well, I’m still on oral chemotherapy. It’s a medication that I’m going to have to remain on my entire life most likely. So yeah, that’s just a part of my personal battle. It doesn’t affect…thank God, I’m still able to perform. I think anybody in my position would say, health is wealth. And as long as I can continue to perform, then you already know that that’s at bay, so we’re good. We’re still in remission. But it is something that is still a part of my life.”

Roman Reigns originally intended to make a career in Football and his promising early performance led to his signing with Minnesota Vikings in 2007. However, he was released by the team only a month later when he was diagnosed with leukemia during the team physical. He went into remission about two years after the initial diagnosis.

After retiring from Professional football in 2008, Reigns began his journey to the top of the professional wrestling world when he signed a development contract with WWE in 2010.

In October 2018 he revealed that the leukemia that had been in remission all these years had returned and he would have to step away from WWE programming for an indefinite amount of time. Reigns returned to TV in February 2019, revealing that his leukemia was once again in remission.

Roman Reigns Is Already Thinking About Main-Eventing WWE WrestleMania 41 in 2025

Roman Reigns will break the record for the most WrestleMania main events at WWE WrestleMania 40: Sunday, but the Tribal Chief is already thinking about what’s next.

At WWE WrestleMania 40: Saturday, Reigns teamed with The Rock to defeat Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes in the evening’s main event match. This was Reigns’ ninth time headlining a WrestleMania and during the post-show press conference, Reigns was asked about being a staple of the WrestleMania main event scene.

“I’m already thinking about 10. I’m thinking about the next one. I’m going to smash tomorrow night and then we’re going to move on. That’s how it is. That’s what greatness is. You know what I’m saying? We’re worried about the next goal.”

Roman Reigns in the Main Event

Reigns made his WrestleMania main event debut in 2015 at WrestleMania 31 where he would lose in his WWE Championship match with Brock Lesnar, albeit thanks to Seth Rollins cashing in Money in the Bank. Reigns currently boasts a 6-2 win/loss record in the main event of WrestleMania spot.

WrestleMania 41

Reigns intends on headlining WrestleMania 41 but little has been confirmed about the upcoming event. Breaking from tradition, WWE has yet to publicly confirm the date or location of the event, though it is expected to be hosted in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If so, the show will almost certainly take place at the U.S. Bank Stadium. Local legislators recently teased a huge event coming to the city in 2025 that will provide an economic impact second only to the Super Bowl.

The Rock & Roman Reigns Defeat Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins At WrestleMania 40

WrestleMania 40 promoted the main event of night one as the biggest tag team match of all time. It certainly delivered on every level.

Cody Rhodes is set to battle Roman Reigns during night two of WrestleMania 40 for the Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Title. Seth Rollins will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre tomorrow night as well.

The main event of WrestleMania’s first night included a very special stipulation. If the Bloodline won the match, then it would be Bloodline Rules for Cody Rhodes’ match against Roman Reigns during the second night. If the babyfaces won, then the Bloodline would be banned.

In the end, The Rock pinned Cody Rhodes’ shoulders to the mat at WrestleMania 40 Saturday. This means it will be Bloodline Rules for the title match at the end of WrestleMania Sunday.

The Match Finish

This match got going slowly as fans took in the scene in front of them. The Rock tagged in eventually, where he squared off against Seth Rollins first. It didn’t take much time for Cody to take the tag, where he put some boots to The Great One for making him bleed.

The referee started counting to 10 as they brawled on the outside of the ring. Then The Rock threatened to fire referee Chad Patton if he ended the match via countout. “I don’t f*ck around,” he said. This allowed everyone in the match to brawl throughout the stadium for a while.

They returned to the ring eventually, where Reigns and Rollins battled it out. Roman was able to tag The Rock, but they didn’t let Cody tag in. The beatdown on Rollins continued after that.

Finally, The Rock latched on a sharpshooter, and Cody ran in the ring to slap him in the face. Seth finally landed a Stomp on Rock, but he didn’t pin him. He did finally make it to Cody Rhodes for the tag as Roman tagged in to give a teaser for the WrestleMania Sunday main event.

Roman Reigns’ nose was busted open during the brawl, and Cody avoided a spear. Then Roman kicked out after a splash when Rhodes tagged in Rollins. As they kept going, it all climaxed in Cody Rhodes putting The Rock through the announce table with a Rock Bottom as Roman speared Seth Rollins through the barricade.

Roman and Cody ended up in the ring, where they traded shots. Then, Cody nailed two Crossroads, and as he was going for a third, The Rock nailed him with his weight belt. Then Roman Reigns nailed a spear before tagging in The Rock.

The Rock nailed a Rock Bottom on Cody Rhodes before hitting a People’s Elbow for the clean win.

Special Entrances

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins received their standard entrances for this match. If they get a special presentation, it will likely be for their title matches tomorrow night. That being said, the “WOAH” during Cody’s entrance was incredible.

The Rock’s entrance included an epic light show with his Final Boss theme. He also came out in the middle of a flaming Brahma Bull logo with the People’s Championship over his shoulder.

The Rock’s Schedule Shifting Gears After WWE WrestleMania 40

The Rock is back for the road to WrestleMania 40, but The Final Boss is still a Hollywood juggernaut, and he will have to get back to Tinsel Town after the bright lights of Mania are switched off.

The Rock will start filming his next movie, The Smashing Machine, immediately following WrestleMania 40. This will impact his schedule, reducing his availability in the upcoming months.

Dwayne Johnson’s involvement in the WrestleMania 40 night one main event and top storyline has garnered significant attention. Despite teases and fan hopes that they will see him in singles matches against Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns, that is not expected in the near future.

WrestleMania 40′s main event on April 6 will see The Rock team up with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins. That match will directly affect the main event contest on night two, where it will be Bloodline rules if the heel team wins. WWE fans might not see much of The Rock after the show of shows.

Nick Khan Confirms The Rock’s Plans

WWE CEO Nick Khan confirmed on The Town podcast that The Rock will be taking off after WrestleMania 40. He has to shoot The Smashing Machine, and that will be a rare project for The Great One, as it is not a big budget production.

“[His next film] Smashing Machine. So it’s his first, I think from what I understand, like not a hundred million dollar picture since he’s become a big megastar. So he goes into that a week or two after WrestleMania. Yeah. And then goes into live Moana after that, which knock on wood should be a big hit.”

It was later confirmed to ESPN that his influence will continue within and outside the wrestling world. He emphasized his ongoing role on TKO’s Board of Directors, ensuring his impact remains within the company.

“I’m not off the Board after WrestleMania. I’m still on the Board, and I will always be a part of this & we are in it now. This is our thing & will forever be our thing.”

Roman Reigns Likely Taking Time Off Too

Additionally, Reigns is rumored to be taking time off after WrestleMania 40. He has not been advertised for their Backlash event in Germany on May 4. We will have to see how long the Tribal Chief’s break is after Mania this year.

Roman Reigns’ schedule has decreased significantly over the last few years. He only wrestled 11 matches in 2023, and 3 of those contests were at house shows. The Head of the Table has also only wrestled once in 2024 so far, as he successfully defended the Undisputed Universal Title against LA Knight, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles in a fatal four-way match at the Royal Rumble.

Roman Reigns Vows To ‘Close The Book’ On Cody Rhodes

WrestleMania 40 is right around the corner and the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is brimming with confidence that he can finally put an end to Cody Rhodes’ story for good.

Roman Reigns and The Rock made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote this weekend’s event. ‘The Tribal Chief’ minced no words when asked about Cody Rhodes trying to ‘finish the story.’

The reigning champion feels Cody is ‘reading the wrong book.’ In addition to this, he highlighted the cutthroat pro wrestling world where everyone thinks they’re number one – taking a shot at his upcoming opponent in the process.

“I think Cody’s reading the wrong book at this point, because we don’t care about his story,” Reigns quipped. “It’s a funny thing because [turns to The Rock] you told me this a long time ago. In the wrestling business, there’s no call sheet. There’s no, ‘He’s number one, he’s number two.’ So everybody in our roster believes they’re number one. So it’s just a shark tank.”

This is Cody’s second attempt to dethrone Roman Reigns but the latter is determined to ‘close the book’ on his arch-nemesis.

“Everybody’s trying to take each other out. This guy’s been chasing me for two years now. I’ve beaten him, we’ve crossed this bridge already. So this is where we close the book completely on this guy, Cody Rhodes, and we display what the most powerful family in pro wrestling is all about. That’s what this weekend is all about.”

Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns saga

‘The American Nightmare’ has been relentless in pursuing Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Last year, Cody came close to beating ‘The Tribal Chief’ for the title at WrestleMania 39 but the champ had the last laugh.

Now, the stage is set at WrestleMania 40 for Cody to pen the final chapter of his story and put an end to this rivalry once and for all.

However, it’s a daunting task at hand for the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble winner. On WrestleMania Saturday, he will join forces with Seth Rollins to face The Rock and Roman Reigns. The outcome of the match will determine whether it’s ‘Bloodline Rules’ when he faces Roman Reigns for the Universal title the next night.

Roman Reigns Announced for NFL Madden 24 Ultimate Team Mode

EA Sports NFL Madden 24 Ultimate Team mode has been bolstered by the addition of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

After being a part of the WWE games for several years, now ‘The Tribal Chief’ will be featured in an NFL Madden 24. The official Twitter/X account has revealed that their Ultimate Team mode will include Roman Reigns as a right-end player and will make his debut on Thursday, April 4.

Reigns will be joining the legendary actor Burt Reynolds as part of the Reel Deals program. This news comes ahead of this weekend’s WrestleMania 40 where Roman Reigns will headline both nights.

Before transitioning as a full-time pro wrestler as Roman Reigns, Leati Joe Anoa’i had a successful football career. He initially played for Pensacola Catholic High School and then Escambia High School.

Roman Reigns’ football career

He attained further success when he started playing for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team. He eventually signed with the Minnesota Vikings but his run with the franchise soon ended when he was diagnosed with leukemia.

Later, Roman Reigns joined the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, he was let go in less than a week. Following his release from Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL, he decided to hang up his boots prematurely in November, 2009. He then transcended into the world of pro wrestling and the rest is history.

Most recently, Roman Reigns stated that hadn’t his football career ended prematurely, he wouldn’t have stepped foot inside the squared circle. Luckily, he did and we are witnessing one of the greatest championship runs in WWE history.

Roman Reigns Doubts WWE Run Would’ve Ever Happened If His Football Career Hadn’t Ended

Leati Joe Anoa’I would have never become the dominant Roman Reigns in WWE had his football career not come to a premature end, the Tribal Chief has claimed.

Years before he entered the ring, Reigns played football and made it to both the NFL and the CFL (Canadian Football League.) Speaking to ESPN, Reigns admitted that had his football career not ended, he doesn’t believe he would have tried for pro wrestling. Reigns added that he wanted to be an athlete fans could look up to just as he had looked up to others.

“I wanted to have an impact on young men. I wanted to be the way Emmitt Smith and Michael Jordan and Joe Montana and the stars of when I was a child, the way they made me feel. I wanted to make other young athletes feel that way.

“But no matter what, it was either you’re going to be a wrestler, or you’re going to be a football player.”

Roman Reigns in Football

Reigns played for Pensacola Catholic High School and later at Escambia High School. He would go on to play for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team. In 2007, he was signed to the Minnesota Vikings but was diagnosed with leukemia and swiftly released.

After the Vikings, Reigns signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars but was released less than a week into his deal. In 2008, he played for the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL and played a handful of games before his release in November 2009. He proceeded to retire from professional football.

The Bloodline & Football

Reigns is hardly the only member of his family to have stepped foot on the gridiron. The Rock played college football for the University of Miami Hurricanes and later played for the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders. He was cut from the team two months into the 1995 season.

Like Reigns, Jimmy and Jey Uso played football at Escambia High School in Pensacola before becoming linebackers for the University of West Alabama. Jimmy played for the 2003 season while Jey played from 2003 to 2005.

Paul Heyman Recalls Being Confronted By Nick Bockwinkel

Along with Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman is getting comparisions to the legendary pairing of Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan, but ‘The Wiseman’ doesn’t want to hear any of that.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Heyman was asked what he thought about being in that echelon of superstar and manager. Instead of comparing Heyman stated that he’d like to “set the standard” with Reigns so others will be looking at them as the measuring stick.

Heyman went on to talk about his admiration for Bockwinkel, noting that he left WCW just before Nick arrived. However, Paul did recall when their paths briefly crossed all the way back in Verne Gagne’s AWA.

Nick Bockwinkel was on commentary for the broadcast on ESPN and Heyman decided to take the initiative.

“I walked over to the commentary position and said, ‘I know why Greg Gagne gets to commentate on ESPN, but exactly who are you related to?’ It was an off-script, impromptu line.”

After the show, Heyman was approached by Bockwinkel, who told the young mananger what he thought of that move.

“Nick came up to me and said, ‘Young man, it took a lot of balls to challenge my position that way.’ I thought he was really pissed. I said, ‘Yes, sir. Seizing the moment, sir.’ And Nick looked at me and said, ‘I admire the gumption it took to do it.’ And then he walked away. I figured if he walked away without slapping me, it was a victory.”

Bockwinkel never made it to the WWE, but he was inducted into the Hall of Fame back in 2007 as his star really shined in the AWA as a heel champion, feuding with Hulk Hogan and Verne Gagne.

Paul Heyman Will Be Inducted Into The 2024 WWE Hall of Fame By…

The man who will induct Paul Heyman into the WWE Hall of Fame this Friday was revealed during the April 1, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.

Heyman was the first name announced for this year’s class of Hall of Fame inductees. The honor is richly deserved given Heyman’s success in multiple roles in the world of wrestling. Heyman has served as a manager, a producer, a promoter, and as a member of WWE’s creative team throughout his lengthy career.

Paul Heyman’s WWE Hall of Fame Inductor

During a backstage segment on the April 1, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, Heyman, The Rock, and Roman Reigns were seen conversing. Reigns had to leave early to work on his ‘speech’ for the Wise Man. Heyman then made clear to anyone who hadn’t figured it out that Reigns would be inducting him into the WWE Hall of Fame.

WWE Hall of Fame 2024

Heyman is hardly the only notable name to make up this year’s class of WWE Hall of Famers. The US Express will also be inducted this year, the only tag team as part of the 2024 class. Bull Nakano was announced as a WWE Hall of Fame inductee. The Japanese star is a former WWE Women’s Champion and is currently the commissioner for the all-women’s Sukeban promotion.

Thunderbolt Patterson has also been confirmed as an inductee. The late Muhammed Ali will be posthumously inducted for his contributions to the world of Sports Entertainment.

The final inductee is Lia Maivia, one of the first female wrestling promoters and a trailblazer in her own right. Her induction was announced by her grandson The Rock and will come 16 years after her husband ‘High Chief’ Peter Maivia was inducted in 2008.

Roman Reigns Gets Emotional Hearing Words of Support From Late-Brother Matt ‘Rosey’ Anoai

Roman Reigns may be a cool customer on WWE TV but the Tribal Chief couldn’t help but feel emotional when hearing from his late brother Matt.

During the recent WWE and A&E Biography: Legends episode on Roman Reigns, the Tribal Chief was presented with a WWE.com interview with Matt Anoa’i. In the interview in question, Matt speaks about his brother’s dedication to excellence and predicts big things for Reigns.

“He had something special… That specialty was something to do with athletics. Just his focus in the gym, focus all through high-school and college, he knew. Joe was set for something great. He’s setting the bar for our family that much higher.”

Reigns was visibly overcome with emotion hearing the words from his brother as seen in the clip below.

Who Was Matt Anoa’i?

Matt began his career in 1995 and after a brief stint in the original ECW and the Samoan-owned WXW, would join WWE in 2002. He debuted in July on Raw as Rosey, one-half of 3 Minute Warning alongside Eddie ‘Jamal’ Fatu (later known to WWE fans as Umaga. The duo served as ‘hired guns’ for Raw GM Eric Bischoff but split in June 2003 following Fatu’s release from WWE.

Rosey would later become the sidekick of The Hurricane who dubbed Rosey his ‘Super Hero In Training (S.H.I.T.) The pair won the World Tag Team Championships in May 2005 but lost the gold to Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch that September. Rosey was released from WWE in March 2006.

In January 2014, Matt Anoa?i was hospitalized due to congestive heart failure which was related to weight gain as he struggled to keep active due to a chronic knee injury. On April 17, 2017, Matt died due to complications related to CHF, mere days after his 47th birthday.

Roman Reigns Was Against The Shield’s Split & Face Run But “You Have to Be a Good Soldier”

The end of the Shield may have helped propel Roman Reigns to singles superstardom, but the Tribal Chief was no fan of splitting up the popular faction.

A year-and-a-half after their debut on the main roster, the Shield imploded during the June 2, 2014, episode of Monday Night Raw. 24 hours removed from the Sheild’s victory over Evolution at WWE Battleground, Seth Rollins betrayed his brothers and aligned himself with Triple H, becoming a part of the Authority.

Roman Reigns Was Against The Shield’s Split

The end of the Shield was a shocking moment that marked a change for Rollins, Reigns, and Dean Ambrose, but Reigns was not on board at the time. During the A&E Biography: Legends episode about him, Reigns shared his reservations about the split.

“I didn’t wanna break up The Shield. And I definitely didn’t wanna be a good guy. That’s exactly what was happening. I was so young on the rise. It’s not like I had a nest egg built up. It’s not like I had a whole bunch of options that I can just say ‘No I’m not feeling this.’ This doesn’t feel good to me or I wouldn’t say this. It was so hard to do that.”

“When you don’t have that backup, when you don’t have that ‘f**k you’ money. And you can’t just stand on your art and your family is depending on you. Your livelihood is depending on you. You have to just be a good soldier and do what you’re told.”

What Came Next?

Following the split, Rollins and Ambrose would feud for months with both men receiving new attires and themes for this post-Shield chapter of their careers. Reigns on the other hand continued to use the same theme song and the same attire for years after the Shield broke up.

Rather than enter the fray with Ambrose and Rollins, Reigns was quickly thrust into feuds with established names. This high-profile move to the main event scene would play a part in the fans’ rejection of Reigns that would continue for years.

Shield Reunions

While The Shield’s proper run ended in 2014, the faction would reunite over the years. The group saw reunions in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The final reunion saw the group go out on top as Ambrose’s final match for WWE saw the Shield defeat Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre. Ambrose would debut for AEW shortly after as Jon Moxley.

John Cena Believes ‘GOAT’ Roman Reigns Should Be Compared Only To Himself

John Cena has praised the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns as a Superstar who is without comparison to anybody other than the Tribal Chief.

Reigns has been one of WWE’s very top Superstars for close to a decade now and has dominated as Universal Champion for over 1,300 days. This title reign has seen him defeat the likes of Bray Wyatt, Bill Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, and Cena himself.

John Cena on Roman Reigns

As part of A&E Biography: Legends episode on Roman Reigns, Cena spoke candidly about his respect for the Head of the Table. In a tweet featuring a clip from the show, Cena went even further, saying that Reigns is, in his opinion, the greatest of all time.

“It is on the job training, no matter what. We learn the most from failure and Roman had his share of knocks. And finally, he was like ‘F*** it, I’m doing it my own way.’ And it has been a wrap ever since. It has been like [mic] drop, conversation over. There’s nobody like him. He should be compared only to himself.”

John Cena Vs. Roman Reigns

Cena and Reigns have shared the ring 15 times in WWE (not including Royal Rumble bouts.) Their first match took place at WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 and saw The Shield defeat Cena, Sheamus, and Ryback. The pair would later headline WWE SummerSlam 2021 in a match Reigns would also win.

The duo’s most recent match came on the December 30, 2022, edition of WWE SmackDown. The match saw Cena and Kevin Owens defeat Reigns and Sami Zayn, who was with the Bloodline at the time. The match also kept Cena’s streak going as the 16-time WWE World Champion has had at least one match on WWE TV since his main-roster debut in 2002.

WWE Superstars Share Their Predictions for Massive WrestleMania 40: Saturday Tag Team Match

The WWE Superstars have weighed in on whether it’ll be The Rock & Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes who will be left standing tall at WrestleMania: Saturday.

In a video shared on WWE’s YouTube channel, the Superstars were asked who they predict will win the much-anticipated tag team match on WrestleMania Saturday. The match will see Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes face Roman Reigns & The Rock to decide the stipulation of the following night’s Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match

Who’s Backing the Bloodline?

CM Punk said it’s hard to bet against the Bloodline (but easy to bet against Seth Rollins) and he expects Rock and Reigns to win the tag-team match. Jimmy Uso, unsurprisingly, was backing is cousin and the Final Boss in the upcoming match.

The Miz said he wouldn’t be surprised if The Rock & Reigns won and beatdown Cody and Seth to the point that their matches would be called on for WrestleMania 40: Sunday. The A-Lister admitted that these comments will leave fans very angry with him.

‘Michin’ Mia Yim was also predicting a Bloodline victory, acknowledging the 1,300+ day reign of the Tribal Chief and the legendary status of The Rock. Santos Escobar was immensely confident that The Rock & Roman would win, calling it a “spoiler.”

Carmelo Hayes is also predicting a Rock-Roman win on WrestleMania: Saturday, as is Shayna Baszler. Otis, The O.C. and Byron Saxton also predicted a Bloodline victory. R-Truth, Zelina Vega, and Trick Williams also expect to see The Bloodline stand tall on WrestleMania 40: Saturday.

Finishing the Story

While the majority of WWE Superstars expect The Rock & Roman Reigns to win this Saturday, not everyone believes this will be the case. Despite her differences with both Cody & Seth, Rhea Ripley expects the dream team will be standing tall on WrestleMania 40: Saturday.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria is also expecting a win for Rhodes and Rollins and believes the American Nightmare will at last ‘finish the story’ the next night. Liv Morgan is also backing Rhodes and Rollins “just because.”

Despite being dressed like 90s Rock for the video, Kofi Kingston expects Rhodes and Rollins to come out on top. Bianca Belair is also expecting the faces to win on WrestleMania 40: Sunday.

Drew McIntyre Responds

The final response was from Drew McIntyre who made it clear he doesn’t care who wins on WrestleMania 40: Saturday. McIntyre is instead only hoping that Rollins makes it through the match so they can have their World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 40: Sunday.

Roman Reigns Reflects On Infamous Moment with The Rock Ahead of WrestleMania 40

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has become one of the greatest superstars of all time. Since joining the main roster, his character has evolved multiple times. With his latest evolution, The Head of The Table has now matured into the widely accepted megastar the company always expected him to become.

‘The Tribal Chief’ has been a part of several Premium Live Events over the years. However, there is one event which he tries to forget – Royal Rumble 2015. But why?

Back in 2015, Roman Reigns was on the rise and entered the big leagues. ‘The Big Dog’ eliminated Rusev to win the Royal Rumble 2015 to secure WrestleMania headlining opportunity. It marked one of the biggest milestones in his career but it was totally ruined.

The Philadelphia fans were not impressed with what they witnessed and booed Reigns, who was a babyface back then. The Rock even joined in for the celebrations but that didn’t change anything.

Roman Reigns recalls the moment

In his upcoming A&E Biography, Reigns shares his thoughts on the night. Though it was supposed to be a memorable moment for him, he says that he tries to forget that year’s Royal Rumble. Here is what he said:

“I was booed, historically. You think about these moments. You dream about them, and the moment that it actually happens, it’s like they’re playing the worst soundtrack of all time over your moment, ruining your party. That’s how the Rumble in Philly felt.

“I try to forget Philly. I try to forget the Royal Rumble. There’s only one positive, and that’s the fact that it’s going to be able to tie all the way back around at WrestleMania 40.”

Roman Reigns will once again be faced with the tough Philadelphia crowd at WrestleMania 40. The Tribal Chief is expected to make a new record by headlining both nights of the Show of Shows.

On WrestleMania Saturday, he will join forces with The Rock to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The outcome of this match will determine the stipulation when Reigns faces 2024 Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes with the Universal title on the line the next night.

Done. Finished. Goodbye: Roman Reigns Believed He Was Retired During 2020 WWE Hiatus

Roman Reigns will headline WrestleMania once again next weekend, but WWE’s Tribal Chief was ready to leave the wrestling ring behind him four years ago.

Next weekend, Reigns will compete on both nights of WrestleMania 40. On the first night, he will team with The Rock to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The following night, he will put his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line against Rhodes. This will be the American Nightmare’s last opportunity to win the gold from Reigns, an edict made by TKO board member/Bloodline member The Rock.

Roman Reigns in 2020

In the run-up to WrestleMania 36, Reigns was poised to challenge Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship. Goldberg had won the title from ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt at WWE Super Showdown in February that same year.

In the days running up to WrestleMania though, Reigns pulled out of the show, thanks in part to the COVID-19 pandemic. As someone who was immunocompromised due to his past battles with leukemia, Reigns opted to prioritize his health over the risk of being infected at the WrestleMania taping.

Roman Reigns Was Ready to Retire

Reigns didn’t just miss WrestleMania 36 but would miss months of programming after the event. Speaking recently to Uproxx, Paul Heyman said that Reigns was ready to leave WWE behind at the time.

“He considered himself retired. He wasn’t coming back… I would ask, has anybody talked to him? Yeah, he says he’s retired. He’s not coming back. No way. Thanks a lot. Done. Finished. Goodbye.”

Heyman added that with this in mind, Reigns’ return to WWE and subsequent run as the Tribal Chief has been nothing short of “miraculous.”

What Came Next?

After months away, Reigns would return to WWE TV at SummerSlam 2020, attacking Wyatt and Braun Strowman. On the following SmackDown, Reigns aligned with Paul Heyman and would capture the Universal Championship he holds to this day at Payback 2020.

WWE Superfan’s Wedding Turns Into WrestleMania Spectacle with Bloodline Entrance

Pro wrestling fans are passionate about the sport, but some go above and beyond. A new wedding video has a lot of attention, and for good reason.

A fan recently acknowledged Roman Reigns on their own wedding day. The groom and his party made their way to the altar to The Bloodline’s iconic entrance music.

The Bloodline Meets Marriage

A fan named Bruins Hogan recently god married, and he used this day of celebration to let everyone know how much of a Bloodline fan he is. With Roman Reigns’ entrance music barring, his party came out, complete with a WWE Championship and an Ula Fala around the groom’s neck.

Wedding guests were encouraged to cheer, and then the groom’s party struck The Bloodline’s pose. They even got some pyrotechnics in the mix. It was quite a show.

You can check out the video below. We’re not sure how the bride’s entrance turned out, but the groom popped those wedding guests in a big way.

Pro Wrestling Weddings

We’ve seen fans insert pro wrestling entrances in their wedding reception in the past. Putting The Bloodline’s entrance into the actual ceremony is upping the ante.

It would also be irresponsible of us not to mention the epic table spot that went down during a wedding reception a couple of years ago. That also included the bride laying in some kendo stick shots after coming out to Becky Lynch’s entrance.

Showing your passion for pro wrestling and your spouse on your big day is a theme that we can certainly get behind.

Paul Heyman Recalls Meeting Roman Reigns

Paul Heyman recently appeared on The Roku Channel’s The Rich Eisen Show, where he talked about a number of topics, such as getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, meeting Roman Reigns and working with him, and more.

Being active in the industry since 1986, Heyman has had an illustrious career as a professional wrestling manager, promoter, and executive. It was announced in March that Heyman will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 5, 2024. As for whether he’s got a speech prepared, Heyman said that he doesn’t, because he is going to “just wing it.”

“No, I’m going to figure this out as we go along. I’m going to take the pulse of the room that night. I’m going to wing this, because I don’t know really what the crowd itself is expecting from me. Is this a crowd that wants me to talk about the modern-day WWE, Roman Reigns, The Bloodline, the WrestleMania main event of Roman Reigns versus Cody Rhodes? Is this a crowd that in Philadelphia wants to talk about ECW? Is this a crowd that’s looking for some inspiration in a speech about pursuing one’s own dreams? I really won’t know until I take the temperature of the room that night, and as you know better than I, you always have to know your audience.”

Paul Heyman Says The Bloodline Story Could Have Some Extra Innings

Speaking about Roman Reigns, whom Heyman manages alongside The Bloodline on SmackDown, he said that Reigns would be the greatest star in the industry regardless of the generation he was in.

Paul Heyman also recalled his first meeting with Roman Reigns, revealing that The Tribal Chief was only 3 years old at the time:

“I first met Roman Reigns when he was three years old and his father Sika of the Wild Samoans brought him into the locker room at Panama City, Florida. Even at three years old, he had so much charisma. I thought he was going to become a child star like Ron Howard or whomever. Roman had so much charisma even at three years old. You look into his eyes and say, ‘Oh my god this kid’s a star and he’s three years old!’ He just had that intangible It Factor. You knew you were in the presence of someone or something special even though it’s a three-year-old kid running around.”

Heyman also spoke about how the partnership of him and Reigns came about together. While Heyman was with Brock Lesnar, a golden opportunity presented itself when the pandemic hit and Lesnar took time away from the WWE.

“Well, Roman and I had been talking about working together for many, many years. The timing was never right in that WWE was presenting him as The Big Dog, as the big hero, this WrestleMania main-eventer to follow in the steps of John Cena.

“And I was the advocate for Brock Lesnar, and just leaving that position would have been insane. I also then became the executive director of Monday Night Raw. Now the pandemic hits and Brock Lesnar wraps up his time in WWE and he goes off to Saskatchewan to hunt and kill whatever he puts on the family’s dinner plates.

“The entire landscape of sports and entertainment and sports entertainment was changing, and Roman Reigns had taken time off because his wife had given birth to another set of twin boys, and also because of the pandemic and his health concerns regarding staying safe for his family during this unfathomable health crisis that was gripping the entire world. So in August 2020 when I’m Brock Lesnar-free, I’m no longer the executive director of Raw, so I’m in the ocean of obscurity at that point, and Roman Reigns agrees to come back to WWE if he’s allowed to portray himself, and we get a chance to work together. He rescued me from the ocean of obscurity, pulled me onto the island of relevancy with him, and we have been together ever since.”

Heyman had previously said that The Bloodline was in only in the third inning, and speaking about that, Heyman said that there may be many extra innings in store for the faction.

“Every time I talk about innings, it gets shoved up my tuchus. Also, I’ve kind of gotten away now from baseball analogies because I’ve learned in my experience that baseball is fake.

“So whatever inning that we’re in, we’re dominating that inning, and it’s a game that I would suggest may go into many extra innings as well. And some of that, we have to give credit to The Final Boss, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, for adding a whole new set of layers, and therefore innings, to the story of the Bloodline.”

D’Lo Brown Doesn’t See a ‘Top-Tier Echelon Guy’ In Cody Rhodes

After a year of hardship, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes has found his way to a rematch against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. In their first encounter, the ‘Tribal Chief’ retained his title at WWE WrestleMania 39 on April 2. After winning the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, Rhodes aims to avenge his loss and “Finish his story” at WrestleMania 40 on April 7.

Since the match announcement, many wrestling fans have picked ‘The American Nightmare’ to defeat Reigns. Former WWE superstar D’Lo Brown recently shared his prediction for the match and believes the company has to give Rhodes the win at the ‘Grandest Stage Of Them All.’

Brown appeared on Sirius XM Busted Open on March 27 to explain why Rhodes must become the new champion at WWE WrestleMania 40.

“…You have to because I don’t know if his character could go another 365 days to a third WrestleMania. I don’t know if fatigue will play in,” said Brown. He continued, “It is hard to keep the interest of the fans and get them sympathetic with you. It’s even more difficult to do it for two years, damn near impossible to keep it up for a third year to finish the story, in my opinion.”

Despite believing Rhodes should win, Brown was also hesitant to say whether he had proven himself to be the company’s true leader.

D’Lo Brown Doesn’t See Cody Rhodes As The Guy

Brown shared that Rhodes is in his position because the company has set him up to be its most featured superstar. However, he is yet to think of ‘The American Nightmare’ on that level.

“He’s going to be the guy because that’s what the direction they are going. I look at Cody, and I don’t say this disrespectfully; I’ve never seen that top-tier echelon guy,” said Brown.  He added, “…They have made Cody since he’s come back over from AEW into that top-tier guy, so for the purposes of the story they are telling, he’s the guy.”

It’s unclear what Rhodes could do to change Brown’s position on him to see him as “The guy.” It’s possible a big win at WWE WrestleMania 40, and how he moves forward in the company may change his point of view.
