Eva Marie Update, Roman Reigns Vest Petition Trends

Despite serving a 30 day suspension from WWE for violating the talent Wellness policy, Eva Marie is still permitted to work on WWE’s Total Divas series. She’s been in the Bahamas along with her husband Jonathan, The Miz and Maryse filming scenes for the upcoming season. Not a bad way to serve a suspension.

– There’s a ridiculous Roman Reigns petition at Change.org, thanks to a user known as “Mike Huck.” He’s petitioned Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Jack Tunney, Mick Foley, John McCain, Tony Cardenas, Barack Obama, Francisco Aguilar, and Elijah Cummings over Reigns’ “illegal” vest. The petition has made it to Facebook’s trends list and currently has almost 4,000 supporters. Below is the description:

Require Roman Reigns to remove his ILLEGAL vest during the course of WWE competition.

Roman Reigns has been systematically breaking the rules of Admiral-Lord Mountevans Unified Rules of Professional Wrestling through the use of illegal body armor to protect himself during the course of matches with legitimately dressed competitors, and has been doing so throughout his career.

We require swift action that prohibits the use of this body armor in all future WWE contests by Mr. Reigns and anyone else.

What Happened After RAW With Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns (Video)

After last night’s WWE RAW from Kansas City went off the air, Chris Jericho and WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens teamed up to beat down Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins ran down to ringside to make the save for Reigns, but wound up getting a spear from Reigns. The show ended with Reigns celebrating to a mixed reaction from the crowd.

Rollins coming to the ring to help Roman Reigns getting beat down by two heels is certainly a babyface move. Rollins wrestled Jericho on RAW and challenges the heel champion Kevin Owens in the main event of Clash of Champions. All signs are pointing to a full Seth Rollins babyface turn, which we can’t complain about. Many people were pushing for Rollins to return from his knee injury as a fan favorite, especially with the great WWE 24 special focusing on his road to recovery. Finn Balor’s SummerSlam injury at the hands of Seth seem to have put Seth on course for a big run as the top babyface on RAW.

Here’s footage of Reigns spearing Rollins:

Roman Reigns Tops This Year’s PWI Top 500 List

RAW Superstar Roman Reigns topped this year’s PWI Top 500, the annual list ranking the the world’s best professional wrestlers. During the 12-month period covered for this year’s list (July 2015 through June 2016), Reigns captured the WWE Championship three times and headlined WrestleMania 32. This year’s top 5 includes:

  1. Roman Reigns
  2. Kazuchika Okada
  3. Finn Balor
  4. AJ Styles
  5. Jay Lethal

Reigns spoke to PWI-Online senior writer Dan Murphy about the honor,  “I give a lot of credit to the WWE Universe. I rub people in a weird way, it seems, but the fact is they’re emotional and that’s a connection we have. If I’m on a show, I’m going to tug on those emotion strings one way or another. Whether you love me or you hate me, I dig it. But sometimes it is hard. At the end of the day, I want to go out there and entertain, to have fun, to provide for my family, remain healthy, and do this 52 weeks a year. I’m a human being. I have things going on in my personal life. Sometimes it can be hard. But I always say, I think that’s why God gave me broad shoulders, so I can carry that load.”

As you can imagine, there’s already a lot of backlash surrounding Reigns being ranked the top pro wrestler in the world. PWI is running a poll asking fans who else from the Top 5 should have been ranked #1. Let them know by voting below:

Reigns tweeted the following, telling his haters to “go and cry” about his success.

Roman Reigns’ Suspension Led WWE To Completely Change Summer Booking Plans

New information is coming out regarding the impact Roman Reigns’ wellness policy had on the entire landscape of WWE. It’s actually pretty staggering how much changed. Here’s what was planned, courtesy of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

Prior to Roman Reigns’ suspension, the WWE Championship was going to be on RAW and the Universal Championship would have been the SmackDown title. Reigns and Rollins would have battled for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam and Finn Balor was scheduled to face Chris Jericho.

Finn Balor wound up as the first Universal Champion, but the original plan was for AJ Styles to hold that distinction. Based on what transpired, it appears Dean Ambrose winning the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank was somewhat of an ‘audible.’

With Ambrose defending the title against AJ Styles at Backlash, and Styles’ big title win derailed due to the fallout from Reigns’ suspension, there seems to be a good chance The Phenomenal One will be wearing gold in the near future.

Roman Reigns is still a favorite of management and has a bright future ahead. However, the extent to which his infraction forced WWE to change booking plans gives some insight into why he’s now working a mid-card feud and was not part of the top matches at SummerSlam.

Vince’s Birthday, Sasha Still Advertised For China Show, Cena Wrestles After SmackDown

– WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon is celebrating his 71st birthday today. The billionaire boss of WWE was born on August 24, 1945.

– WWE announced on Tuesday that recently signed Chinese Superstar Bin Wang will face Bo Dallas in his WWE debut on 9/10 from Shanghai. It’s worth noting that Sasha Banks is still being advertised for that show. The former Women’s Champion is out of action with a lower back injury and isn’t scheduled to return to the ring until late September. It’s possible Sasha Banks will make an appearance without getting in the ring. The lineups are always “card subject to change” but it’s odd she’d be included in a press release issued after her injury and time off were already made public. For more information, visit Corporate.WWE.com.

– While John Cena did not appear on tonight’s SmackDown Live, he did appear after the show for the dark main event. That match saw Cena, Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Dean Ambrose defeat Seth Rollins, Erick Rowan and Bray Wyatt.  The ending saw Cena hit the AA on Wyatt, Reigns spear and hit the Superman punch on Rollins, and Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds on Rowan for the pin.

Fatal 4 Way Will Determine The Next WWE Universal Champion

A Fatal 4 Way match will be held on next week’s WWE RAW from Houston, TX to determine the next WWE Universal Champion.

As seen on RAW, Finn Balor was forced to relinquish the championship due to a shoulder injury which could keep him out of action for 4-6 months.

After a series of qualifying matches were held, it was determined that next week’s Fatal 4 Way will feature Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Big Cass. Tune in next week to see which of these 4 men is crowned the new WWE Universal Champion.

Sasha Banks, Roman Reigns & Kurt Angle Respond To Conor McGregor Trashing WWE

McGregor comments on WWE at the 17:30 mark

During Friday’s UFC 202 media conference call, Conor McGregor trashed WWE Superstars, saying most of them are messed up p*ssies. He respected that Brock Lesnar got back in the Octagon, but slammed him for being “juiced up to the eyeballs.” He respects The McMahons, Triple H and The Rock, but “the rest of them are “f*cking p*ssies.”

As you can imagine, McGregor was met with a strong backlash on social media from WWE’s rabid fanbase. “The Notorious” clarified that he wasn’t insulting WWE fans, but doubled down on his position regarding WWE Superstars.

Several current and past WWE Superstars have since responded, including Sasha Banks, Roman Reigns, Big E, Kurt Angle and MVP.

Seth Rollins Comments On Roman Reigns’ Suspension, Wrestler’s Court

Seth Rollins appeared on the Bailey and Southside morning radio show (Atlanta’s Rock 100.5) and commented on Roman Reigns’ recent suspension.  When asked if Reigns had to endure “wrestler’s court” he said he’s never experienced a trial and doesn’t doesn’t think the tradition is practiced anymore. Back when wrestlers were “put on trial” for backstage infractions, Rollins said the sentences “could be a little harsh” but that was before WWE went public and the days of social media.

Regarding reports that Roman Reigns was made to apologize to the WWE locker room for violating the Wellness Policy, Rollins disputed that report and said it was blown out of proportion.

“No no no, that’s misunderstood,” he said. “Roman addressed the locker room, just as a locker room leader, he was a guy who wanted to talk about the situation. That was not a Wrestler’s Court situation at all. The Wrestler’s Court is more of a lighthearted affair, this was strictly a professional thing between him and the company.”

Other topics discussed include his role in Sharknado 4 & the Brand Extension.

What Happened After Tonight’s WWE SmackDown Involving Rollins & Reigns

RAW Superstars Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns appeared after tonight’s SmackDown went off the air in Buffalo.

The dark main event saw Reigns and WWE Champion Dean Ambrose defeat Rollins and Bray Wyatt when Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds on Rollins.

The RAW Superstars wrestling in the SmackDown dark March main event is similar to what fans who were in attendance at last night’s RAW saw, when SmackDown stars John Cena, Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollkms wrestled after RAW went off the air. It remains to be seen if this will be a regular occurrence or if the cross brand involvement ends once the dust settles from the Brand Extension.

We have a full report from tonight’s SmackDown at this link.

Roman Reigns Reacts To Battleground Loss, Kurt Angle Working With The Rock

– After coming up short last night at WWE Battleground and getting booed during his WWE television return, Roman Reigns is keeping a positive attitude headed into tonight’s RAW. Reigns tweeted on Monday afternoon:

Wrestler Involved In Recent Fight Given Time Off, Sunny’s Botched Cosmetic Surgery, More

– The official website for independent presidential candidates Gary Johnson and William Weld have both Kane and Sean “X-Pac” Waltman listed as celebrity endorsements.

TMZ reports that Sunny has contacted the producers of reality show “Botched” as she looks to get her nose repaired. Her nose is so bad that there’s “nasty scar tissue build up” that has caused “weird bumps” on the bridge of her nose. She also mentioned possibly getting liposuction because of belly issues she’s had since having surgery for cervical cancer.

– It’s now confirmed that Simon Gotch was given time off due to the backstage fight at SmackDown with Sin Cara. As noted, Cara pretty much destroyed Gotch in the one-sided fight from last Tuesday afternoon. PWInsider reports that Gotch is not scheduled for this week’s WWE TV tapings but he’s set to return to the road next week.

Report On What Drug Caused Roman Reigns To Violate WWE’s Wellness Policy

Roman Reigns’ 30-day suspension for violating WWE’s Wellness Policy concludes this week and we might finally know what got him in trouble.

The word going around backstage is that Reigns tested positive for Adderall, a stimulant prescribed to treat ADHD. It’s also used as a cognitive performance enhancer, but is often abused as a party drug. According to Google, Adderall is an amphetamine that cause rapid or irregular heartbeat, delirium, panic, psychosis, and heart failure. It’s unknown if Reigns had a valid prescription for the medication.

Reigns was drafted to RAW and returns to action this Saturday at WWE’s live event from in Wildwood, NJ. The following night, he’ll compete for the WWE Championship against Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins in the triple threat main event of WWE Battleground.

Report: Vince McMahon Still Upset With Roman Reigns Over Failed Drug Test

It sounds like Roman Reigns’ violation of WWE’s Wellness Policy may have lasting effects on his career.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that Reigns is still in serious hot water with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Meltzer reports that Vince is very upset with Reigns for failing his drug test after giving Reigns the ball to run with on WWE programming.

Meltzer expects that while Reigns will still be a main character on TV, WWE will no longer push him as the top guy.

Reigns was suspended by the company on June 21st for 30 days as a result of his first violation of WWE’s Wellness Program. It’s unknown what substance he tested positive for.
