Video: Roman Reigns Handed Something Before “Bleeding” On RAW

The show-ending segment of last night’s WWE RAW saw Triple H deliver a vicious beatdown to his WrestleMania opponent, Roman Reigns. At one point Triple H slammed Reigns’ head into the announcers table nearly two dozen times, leaving Reigns a bloody mess.

Footage from ringside has been posted online that clearly shows Byron Saxton handing Reigns something to create the effect of blood. Based on the footage and the blood pattern we saw on RAW, it appears to be a blood capsule that Saxton slips to him. Here’s the footage, courtesy of Facebook user Jamez Wood:

The Rock & New Day’s Segment Praised, Jericho On SportsCenter & More

Editorial: The Curious Case Of Roman Reigns And The Royal Rumble

“This is the thing. You’re just sitting there talking. You’re just sitting there yapping. Yap. Yap. Yap.”

“I thought Irishmen had potatoes. It looks like you’re just smuggling some tater tots.”

Roman Reigns is the WWE World Heavyweight champion and will put his belt on the line at the Royal Rumble in the Rumble match. It’s the first time in WWE history that the title was defended in that match. Despite what some may think, the title was vacant in 1992. Ric Flair won the match and the championship.

At first glance, the way WWE officials came up with the match deserves recognition. Then again, even if they didn’t have Reigns defend the championship in the match, the outcome would still be the same. Triple H is still winning the Royal Rumble match.

Triple H hasn’t been on WWE programming in several weeks. He’s selling the injuries he sustained at the hands of Reigns on WWE Raw. A couple of episodes later, Stephanie McMahon told Reigns he’d get what is coming to him soon enough. How long will they wait to let HHH get revenge? This Sunday will be that day.

Everyone’s expecting Triple H to come out at no. 30 and eliminate an exhausted WWE champion to win the Rumble and the belt, which will set up a main event match at WrestleMania 32. Here’s what is wrong with that scenario: not many people want either man to win the match.

As agreeable as it may be when WWE fans want someone new on top, Reigns’ main roster career isn’t that long. He’s only 30-years-old and can bring in a younger audience, which is who they are targeting. There’s already a Twitter account called, “Reject Roman Reigns” and it has over 1700 followers.

With the WWE’s current booking strongly in mind, who else is able to win the Royal Rumble match? Triple H and Brock Lesnar are two viable options, but it appears Lesnar may head towards a WrestleMania match with Bray Wyatt.

Wyatt isn’t a logical choice because he didn’t do enough to warrant a WWE championship opportunity. Sure, the Wyatt Family defeated the Dudleyz a few times, but when was Wyatt’s last big victory? He had a losing streak at PPV’s close to the double-digits.

Unless they turn Dean Ambrose heel, while aligning with the Authority, and he captures the WWE championship, the WWE doesn’t have many options.

Keep in mind that WWE’s booking is in the conversation right now.

They don’t have many major stars. Seth Rollins, John Cena and Cesaro are all out with an injury. When they lost these men, new stars weren’t created. Which is odd, because Sasha Banks and Paige got hurt and WWE officials built Becky Lynch to be the next-big female babyface.

Either way, this situation with Reigns is one that can’t be fixed overnight. Actually, they almost did it at the TLC pay-per-view, but he went back to his old-self the week after. Would that be something fans can stay in to for a long-period of time?

Reigns as an absolute destroyer seems like that’s best for business. However, to be the top man in the company, mic skills are apparent and necessary. Imagine Cena doing appearances and entering feuds with all that he has without cutting a promo past one minute. Lesnar can get away with it because of Paul Heyman.

Heading into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view this Sunday, the WWE has two options.

  1. Roman Reigns retains his WWE championship and Triple H wants a match at WrestleMania 32 in the main event.
  2. Triple H wins the title and Roman Reigns is granted a match at WWE Fast Lane. If he is victorious there, he faces HHH for the belt.

As a fan base, the question should most-definitely be asked, what now?

The WWE supporters who loathe Reigns, then don’t root for him. For those that think they could book a better show than the WWE, by all means go ahead. Vince won’t see it.

Wrestling isn’t always going to be good. Even in the prestigious Attitude Era lied horrible storylines and mediocre wrestling. In fact, the wrestling today is eons better than it was 20 years ago on a consistent basis.

At the Royal Rumble this Sunday, the WWE may do something that could make anyone curious. AJ Styles is supposed to appear in the match.

Stephanie did say on WWE Raw that someone could win it that the WWE Universe has never seen before.

Kind of makes you curious, doesn’t it?

Roman Reigns On What It Will Take For Him To Lose On Sunday, NXT Stars Possibly Appearing, Sting

Speaking to Mike Jones of Washington D.C. rock station DC101, Roman Reigns talked about this Sunday’s Royal Rumble, what will happen if NXT Superstars show up, being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Sting being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and more.

Reigns called being WWE World Heavyweight champion a dream, an honor and a great responsibility. Now that he’s reached his goal, he plans to continue pushing himself and reaching heights he never thought were possible.

This Sunday, he’ll put that title on the line against 29 competitors in the Royal Rumble match, the first time in history a reigning champion has had to do so. The odds are unfairly stacked against him, but he’s not going to let anybody else take what’s his. “They’re going to have to knock me out and drag me out of there,” Reigns said. “Brock’s going to have to German me into the stands to get me out.”

With more than half of the Royal Rumble entrants still unannounced, there’s always the possibility that we’ll see NXT competitors get a chance to shine in front of the WWE Universe. Reigns likes that idea. “You got your Finn Balors, your Samoa Joes, your Sami Zayn, those journeymen, the guys who have been at it in this business for such a long time. It’s such a great opportunity for them to sink their teeth in and reap the benefits of all their hard work.” That being said, no matter which NXT stars compete in the Rumble (if any), Reigns plans sending them flying over the top rope to the floor.

Reigns Reacts To Drawing #1 In The Rumble, New Day On SportsCenter & More

– On Monday’s RAW, Roman Reigns’ luck may have run out when he ‘randomly’ drew the #1 spot in Sunday’s Royal Rumble match. Reigns, who puts his WWE World Heavyweight championship on the line against 29 other Superstars, tweeted:

– The New Day will be appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter with Jonathan Coachman on Tuesday night at 9pm EST.

– The following items have been announced for Thursday’s WWE SmackDown on USA:

  • WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns vs. The League Of Nations in a 4-on-1 handicap match
  • Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens will appear on Miz TV ahead of their match at the Royal Rumble

Why WWE Pulled Roman Reigns From Sunday’s House Show, Dreamer’s Contract Expires

– Saturday and Sunday marked the final two dates on Tommy Dreamer’s contract with WWE and he’s now a free agent. He appeared at the 1/16 house show in Charleston, WV and then on 1/17 in Canton, OH to fulfill his contractual obligations. Dreamer will be working on his own promotion, House of Hardcore, and will be working as a backstage agent for TNA’s upcoming UK tour.

– Some fans were surprised when Roman Reigns didn’t appear at WWE’s house show in Canton, Ohio on Sunday. The WWE World Heavyweight champ was advertised for the show, but WWE decided he should replace John Cena on their tour of India, and Reigns was on a flight back to the U.S. on Sunday while the Canton show was taking place. Cena is currently out with a shoulder injury.

Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens headlined the Canton event instead of Reigns.

Roman Reigns Says The Rock Better Stay Away From Him In The Ring

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns spoke with The Times of India to promote this past week’s live events in New Delhi, where he replaced John Cena as the face of the tour. He was asked how it feels to fill the shoes of the world’s most popular wrestler.

“It’s a great honor. John Cena has been the standard-bearer of professional wrestling for the past 10-12 years, and to follow in his footsteps is a great opportunity. I just want to give my best and represent my family and my people,” said Reigns.

“It’s unfortunate that John couldn’t be here because of the injury and we all hope he will be fit again soon. I for one, can’t wait to square off against him. But then, you have to remember that I’m the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. There is a certain weight to that, a certain standard. Like John used to say, ‘The champ is here and in the end, that’s all that matters!'”

Reigns was also asked if he expects Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to challenge him for the title at WrestleMania 32.

“I expect The Rock would want to keep his pretty face intact for Hollywood. He better stay away from me in the ring,” Reigns said. “But honestly, anybody who wants to get into the ring with me and take the world title, just try!”

Reigns also discussed his rivalry with Big Show, visiting India for the first time, WWE matches being scripted and more. You can check out the interview here.

WrestleMania 32 Main Event Plans

In an update on The Rock hyping his upcoming appearance at WrestleMania 32 in April, which he confirmed in December, as things stand right now he will not be wrestling at the event despite bold claims of having plans to make “all-time WrestleMania history” at this year’s show.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while there’s enough time between now and WrestleMania 32 that it’s certainly possible an arrangement can still be made, The Rock won’t be wrestling an actual match on the show for the same reason reported in the past regarding issues with concerns from the insurance people involved in the “Baywatch” movie he is working on.

As of this week, WWE has a full card in mind for WrestleMania 32, which takes place on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and while whatever The Rock is doing is indeed scheduled to be a big part of the show, he is not included in any of the matches and is not expected to be added to any of them.

Currently, Triple H vs Roman Reigns is the main event WWE has in mind for the show, and with The Rock being related to Reigns and endorsing him in the storylines at last year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view, coupled with the fact that he was expected to wrestle Triple H if he did work a match on this show, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that it’s possible he will play a role in that match.

The Rock Presents At Golden Globes (Photo), John Cena Thanks Roman Reigns For Filling In

– WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns replaced the injured John Cena on the WWE tour of India, which kicks off this coming weekend. Cena took to social media to thank the champ for filling in for him on short notice, and to apologize to the fans for the fact that he won’t be there as advertised. Cena tweeted the following:

– Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appeared as a presenter at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday evening. The Rock presented the award for “Best Supporting Television Actress” alongside Jennifer Lopez. The award was won by Maura Tierney for her work on “The Affair.” Below is a photo of The Rock and J-Lo presenting the award last night.

Updated Betting Odds For The 2016 WWE Royal Rumble

With two weeks to go until the 2016 Royal Rumble, online betting sites have picked a favorite to be the last man standing as WWE World Heavyweight Champion – Roman Reigns. The odds are stacked against him, but the fans putting their money on the line see Reigns retaining. After Reigns, Triple H and Brock Lesnar are considered the most likely Superstars to win the Rumble.

2016 will be the first time in history that the reigning WWE Champion must put his title in the Rumble match. WWE has not yet addressed how the WWE Champion’s challenger for WrestleMania 32 will be determined, but we will probably know after WWE Fastlane in February.

Roman Reigns On SmackDown On USA Network: “Not Too Much Has Changed For Us”

While many WWE Superstars who made the media rounds to promote Thursday’s premiere episode of WWE SmackDown on the USA Network went above-and-beyond to find ways to describe why the change is going to be a big deal for the program and for WWE itself, the new franchise player for the company took a bit of a different approach.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns spoke with the Associated Press and was refreshingly honest about the “changes” that came with the show switching their weekly cable home.

“I wish I could say (USA Network) makes a huge difference and it’s a super positive move and everyone’s so pumped about it,” Reigns said to The Big Story’s Dan Gelston. “But as a competitor, all I need is the ropes and hopefully people show up in the arena. From a wrestling standpoint, not too much has changed for us.”

After Gelston pointed out the fact that in the past stars such as John Cena and the McMahon family would rarely appear on SmackDown, giving fans the perception that it was WWE’s “B-show” that could be skipped while RAW was the “A-show” that had can’t-miss storylines, Reigns was quick to give a very brief opposing opinion.

“I don’t look at it as any less of a show, it’s pretty much the same talent,” Reigns said.

WWE SmackDown now airs every Thursday night on the USA Network at 8pm EST.

Former WWE Writer: Roman Reigns Should Not Win The Royal Rumble

Former WWE Attitude Era, WCW, and TNA writer Ed Ferrara recently discussed some current events in WWE on the BS With CSR podcast. One topic was Roman Reigns, who will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship in the 30-man Royal Rumble match.

“If I’m writing the show Reigns isn’t winning, that’s for sure,” Ferrara said. “I’m not sure who I’d put over. I feel like Brock Lesnar has to be in the main event of WrestleMania. He’s their only legit monster who has a mystique that fans believe in. One of the main problems with the creative lately is the lack of unpredictability. I’m not sure how I would book it but I know Roman wouldn’t be going over so the fans would get that unpredictable finish.”

Ferrara described the process of writing the 30-man Rumble matches, from the perspective of the creative team. He credited Pat Patterson for being the man behind the bulk of the match.

“From my perspective it was easy. We knew who was going over and how, because that was our ticket to WrestleMania. Other than that we booked a few spots and left everything else up to Pat Patterson,” Ferrara explained. “Pat would lay out the entire match.”

He mentioned some NXT performers who catch his eye as top prospects for WWE’s main roster in 2016. Here’s what he had to say:

“The first guys that jump off the page to me are Enzo and Cass,” said Ferrara. “The fact that they are so over and have so much personality they are ripe for the picking for the main roster. They’re kind of floating down in NXT right now because I think it is just a matter of time before they do come up.”

“I’d like to see Finn Balor come up because he’s not a 22-year-old kid. He needs to come up in his prime when he can make the most money he can. I love his presentation and his character. His work is unbelievable.”

Ferrara wrote for the WWF from 1998-1999, for WCW from 1999-2001, and for TNA in 2002, and then again from 2009-2010. He famously imitated Jim Ross as the character Oklahoma in WCW, and won the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

“Superstar” Billy Graham Says WWE Should Turn Roman Reigns Heel And Give Him A Mouthpiece

WWE Hall Of Famer “Superstar” Billy Graham recently posted a lengthy blog on his official Facebook page to address the recent push of Roman Reigns to WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the guy carrying the company on top.

Ahead of tonight’s RAW main event for the WWE Title between Reigns and Sheamus, with Vince McMahon serving as the special guest referee, “Superstar” Billy Graham explains how that could be the perfect set up for his own fantasy booking idea heading into WrestleMania 32 in April.

Graham also explains why WWE should turn Reigns heel and give him a mouthpiece to cut promos for him from now on. The WWE Hall Of Famer posted the following Facebook on Sunday.

WWE Script Writers

Actually, script writers are not a bad thing to have for 99% of the WWE roster, the Rock being the exception. Even the the Rock is handed a script for his movies and told, “hey, here is your script, now get it memorized and lets make this movie.” I mean, do you think Arnold came up with that famous line “I’ll be back” ? No, plus Arnold is a horrible actor to this very day. Jesse Ventura was far better than Arnold when he was in his movies especially with that great line “I ain’t got time to bleed”. Jesse didn’t come up with that line, a script writer did. These writers of today would have spelled death to me because I, along with Dusty, were able to come up with our own lines and we could think for ourselves. The success of reading a script is all in the ability to deliver that line. Cena proves that. After all wrestlers are like Broadway actors, who are handed a script. As a Dylan lyric goes, “You’re just an actor in a plot and that’s all that you got.” It’s all in the delivery folks.

With no interest by the WWE to have me or anyone else help Roman Reigns with his verbal skills, I suggest after his matches with Triple H they turn him heel and find a mouthpiece for him. What I would like to see happen is after their first match, go for a return match in a cage with Shawn Michaels as the special ref at mania 32 in Dallas. They need some more star power for this coming mania other than the Rock cutting another promo. With Vince as the ref for tomorrow nights RAW in the Reigns vs Sheamus match, ratings will go up, then back down the next week without Vince on TV. This RAW match tomorrow night with Vince is a perfect spot to get Triple H involved. Anyone out there have a better idea?

Below is a great shot provided by my personal friend Mike from Florida. This photo shows how close the fans could get to us back in the day. Very dangerous era, enjoy the photo.

Steve Austin On Roman Reigns Winning WWE World Heavyweight Title: “It’s Put Up Or Shut Up”

WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently appeared as a guest on Wade Keller’s PWTorch Livecast and shared his thoughts on Roman Reigns winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, as well as the responsibility that comes with the title belt. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On Roman Reigns winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the pressure that is going to come with it:

“With him being champion, it’s going to remain to be seen how they book this guy. You’re talking about a guy whose work has really improved, but he’s got to be more aggressive and he’s gotta have a sense of urgency. Now, he’s defending that belt, not chasing it, but he’s still pretty green in that regard, especially with respect to holding a championship belt. Man, he’s really got some pressure on him with the fact that now he is the champion. Right now, he is their number one guy.

“All of a sudden when you become that top guy or get that belt, it’s put up or shut up. It’s always good to have a goal, but when all of a sudden you’ve been kind-of prematurely pushed and kind-of rejected and then all of a sudden you’re the guy, now the pressure is on more than ever. All he’s got to do is shine, but the bottom line is he’s got to shine. He’s got to make chicken salad out of chicken scratch.”

On the fact that as champion, Reigns needs to step up his in-ring skills and deliver his end of a match regardless of his opponent:

“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who you put him with, he’s got to shine and he’s got to do his half of the match. You know, you can book him with anybody, but now you’ve got to put on your big-boy trunks and have a badass match. Wanting to be the top guy is a goal that everyone should have, and wanting to have that championship belt is something everyone wants to aspire to.”

Roman Reigns On Next Week’s RAW Main Event, New Theme For Del Rio?, JBL

– JBL recently spent some time on Twitter fielding questions from wrestling fans. During his Q&A wih fans, JBL noted that he believes the best announcers of all-time are Jerry Lawler, Bobby Heenan, Gorilla Monsoon, Michael Cole and Jim Ross. He said either Lawler or Heenan would have to be considered the best color commentator of all-time, and that Cole is the best he’s ever worked with. You can follow JBL on Twitter @JCLayfield.

– Following Monday’s RAW, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns has vowed he will emerge successful in his title defense next week, where Vince McMahon will serve as the special guest referee. Reigns tweeted the following about the first RAW main event of 2016:

– In addition to the new tights he wore in his match with John Cena at the WWE MSG live event on Sunday, Del Rio came out to new theme music. As seen on Monday’s RAW, Del Rio was back to wearing his usual trunks and coming out to his regular theme music. Whether or not he will eventually change to the new look and come out to the new music on television remains to be seen.

Vince McMahon To Special Referee Reigns vs. Sheamus Title Match On RAW Next Week

Following a wild opening segment that saw Vince McMahon get arrested for losing his cool with one of the police officers in the ring, the WWE Chairman managed to make bail and return in time to get the last laugh as the last RAW episode of 2015 faded to black on Monday night.

McMahon came out after a post-match angle in the RAW main event between the returning John Cena and WWE United States Champion Alberto Del Rio to announce a rematch between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and former champion Sheamus on next week’s RAW.

To make matters worse for Reigns, McMahon also announced that he will be serving as the special guest referee for their title showdown on what will be the first episode of WWE RAW in 2016. The show takes place next week from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Roman Reigns Warns Vince McMahon Heading Into WWE RAW This Evening

As noted, just two weeks after his WWE television return on RAW, Vince McMahon has been officially announced for tonight’s RAW at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and Roman Reigns is already sending subtle warnings to the WWE Chairman.

McMahon was added to the show, which faces heavy competition from the NFL this week due to the playoff implications in tonight’s Cincinnati Bengals vs. Denver Broncos Monday Night Football game. The show isn’t helped by the fact that only half of the roster is expected to be available, as the other half will be working the WWE live event scheduled for tonight in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Reigns took to social media to post the following comment on the announcement that McMahon will be appearing on the show again this week, advising the longtime owner of the company to remember what happened to him the last time he was on the show, referring to the “Superman Punch” he took from the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Roman Reigns On Attacking Triple H, Tuning Out Negative Reactions & More

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns recently spoke with WWE.com about his road to becoming the champion, attacking Triple H and more. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his performance at WrestleMania against Brock Lesnar:

“I stand on that performance. That was a fight out there and the crowd knew it. Regardless of how they felt about me when I walked in, they certainly felt a definite way when I left, and I think that’s respect. I think that’s what’s helped me along this full year’s process. They can see I come out every single night and I’m not playing about this big-fight thing. I do it different than anybody else, because I’m willing to bang heads every single night. I don’t think anybody else could have gone out there with Brock Lesnar and do what I did. I stand by that and I’m proud of it. My father and my mother were in the front row watching and they got to see their son go toe-to-toe with Brock Lesnar. Not many people can say that.”

On if he finds it difficult to tune out any negative reactions to what you does:

“It’s something I’ve had to teach myself over the past few years, because I am a person that cares. I do. I wouldn’t be in this business and do what we have to do and go through all the stuff we have to put up with if I didn’t care. Sometimes I have to pull myself back [and remind myself] the world is a big place. Don’t focus on the negativity. Focus on the positivity and the people that want you to do well, then, do it for them and for yourself. Sometimes I do things for myself; sometimes I do things for my family; sometimes I do things for my friends. There’s a great system where I’m not doing this just for one dream, I’m doing this for a bunch of people’s dreams. I have a great crew and a great family that loves me.”

On his recent attack of Triple H:

“I haven’t been able to watch much of the stuff back I’ve done in the past few weeks. But one thing I notice is anytime me and H are in the ring together, there’s always that buzz. You can feel it, there’s a tingle in the air. Regardless, when you have that buzz, it’s going to get to the physicality, so that’s how it’s got to go down.”

Backstage Reaction To Roman Reigns Winning WWE World Title

On the whole, the the WWE locker room was very supportive of Roman Reigns winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

There have been instances of jealousy in the past when certain performers were earmarked for main events and shot to the top, but Reigns is well liked and respectful to everybody back stage. There was genuine excitement behind the scenes when Roman finally had his ‘moment’ on RAW last week and the acceptance says a lot in terms of how Reigns is perceived backstage.

As the WWE Champion, he does have to be a locker room leader to a degree and so far he’s off to a good start.

Jim Ross Q&A: Thoughts On Reigns & Ambrose, Eva Marie Getting By On Her Looks, More

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated the Q&A section at JRsBarBQ.com, fielding questions from fans on a number of topics. Below are some of the highlights.

On Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose:

“I like and support both Reigns and Ambrose. It simply takes a while for talents to get to their destination (Get over) and both these men are still on their journey to get there. Let’s give both time. Patience.”

On Reigns’ matches always looking the same:

“I don’t have any thing for you that’s going to make you automatically like Reigns or any one else any more or any less. Connecting with a talent sometimes never occurs and for others it comes immediately or over time. If you don’t like him, it’s not a crime. I know he’s doing his best to ger there but Roman is green an still evolving with miles to go before he reaches the Promised Land.”

On Eva Marie:

“Eva has a great look but how she matures as a performer is the key to her future. I think her look has been what has appealed the most to WWE thus far.”

On why WWE ring entrances aren’t as cool as they used to be:

“Even bigger than the entrance music, accompanying pyro, is for the stars to be over and many aren’t at this time. I don’t see this as a Lilian, entrance music or pyro issue whatsoever.”

On reason why WWE doesn’t have international photographers at ringside as much as they used to:

“I don’t know but it’s seemingly been long ago except for Wrestlemania or so I think. WWE likes to own and control all their own intellectual property.”
