Nikki Bella Fires Back At Ronda Rousey For Recent Comments

Nikki Bella and Ronda Rousey continue to promote their upcoming clash at WWE Evolution. The pay-per-view (PPV) will be the WWE’s first all-female show in history. It all goes down from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on October 28th. Recently, Bella revealed that she and Rousey’s match at Evolution will headline the PPV.

Rousey will defend her RAW Women’s Title against the longtime WWE star. Initially, Rousey and The Bella Twins were allies on WWE TV. They even teamed up to defeat The Riott Squad at WWE Super Show-Down in Australia. However, on the following episode of Monday Night RAW, Nikki and Brie attacked “The Rowdy One.” It was later announced that the former UFC champ would face Nikki at Evolution.

Recently, Rousey took to social media and called Nikki and Brie “DoNothingBellas” in an Instagram post:

“No exaggeration these pictures were taken only minutes apart. That was my mistake. I should have known better than to trust the backstabbing Bellas….

“Don’t miss #RAW tonight cause @thenikkibella and @thebriebella are gunna learn betraying me was the stupidest thing they ever could have done. And considering their extensive record of idiocy, that’s really saying something. #DoNothingBellas”

Bella Responds

Bella didn’t take too kindly to this, posting a lengthy response to Rousey’s not too long after. Here’s what she had to say:

“In response to your post @rondarousey You may think I’m a “DNB” but that’s because you been here for what maybe 20 RAW’s? I’ve been here for almost 12 years. Since day one I have wanted change for the women at WWE.

“This “DNB” has been in the ring with Victoria, Natalya, Krissy Vaine, Shantelle Malawski, Taryn Terrell, Brooke Adams, Michelle McCool, Layla, Vickie Guerrero, Melina, Mickie James, Maria, Katie Lea, Jillian Hall, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Gail Kim, Candice Michelle, Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Awesome Kong, Naomi, Cameron, Eva Marie, Jojo, Summer Rae, Kaitlyn, Tamina, AJ Lee, Paige, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Riott Squad and more.

“I defended a championship for 301 days, I have executive produced and starred in two reality shows, one about women’s wrestling, while on the road wrestling, I even broke my neck for this business. Mickie James Talks Ronda Rousey’s Progression in WWE

WWE Women’s Division Superstar and veteran Mickie James recently spoke to The Hype Magazine. James gave some interesting comments on RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and her WWE progression thus far.

The WWE legend stated that “I think she’s come a long way since she debuted on WrestleMania. It’s tough because you go from being in the ring with Kurt Angle, Triple H, and Stephanie [McMahon]. Stephanie has so much heat. Fans love her and hate her and want to love to hate her.” James clarified her comments further by claiming that “you’re in there with the best of the best and then go from that platform into the women’s division, which is a whole other animal of the family.

Adapting To The Locker Room

James also discussed how Ronda has adapted to the road and locker room, stating that “In terms of the locker room and on the road together and us always working together to create these moments and matches. While trying to understand that cycle, but I think she’s working hard and she’s trying hard.” Mickie also felt that “it’s a different world for her and I think it’s a different dynamic in the sense of that we’re all competitive, clearly, but we’re also all a family and we all must work together. You are only as good as the person in there lets you be at the end of the day. Hopefully, they are professional enough to let you do that.”

Comparing MMA to Pro Wrestling

James also compared Ronda’s career in Mixed Martial Arts to Pro Wrestling, saying that “I think that’s probably the biggest difference for her, that and to understand that nobody is out to get her.” I think that she’s trying hard and I’m sure that it’s a different world for her to get adapted to and she’s recognizing that this is a whole different animal. I think she loves it here in the WWE.”

Ronda Rousey Sends Warning To Bella Twins, Vince McMahon Remembers Dusty Rhodes

Ronda Rousey Sends Warning To Bella Twins

WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey recently stated in an interview with TMZ.com that the Bella Twins are a couple of “untrustworthy bitches.” This is, of course, a storyline-driven comment by Rousey as she’s slated to make her next title defense against Nikki Bella at the upcoming Evolution pay-per-view event on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network. Although there’s no word yet on which match will headline this show, there’s speculation that due to Rousey’s popularity, this could be the main event.

Rousey was asked about the big angle that WWE booked on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Rosemont, IL at the Allstate Arena on the USA Network where Nikki and Brie attacked Rousey after they had beaten The Riott Squad in a six-woman tag team match on the show. You can see the interview here:

Vince McMahon Remembers Dusty Rhodes

The official Twitter account of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon remembered the late WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes as today would have been his 73rd birthday. Rhodes passed away from kidney failure back on June 10, 2015. You can see McMahon’s tweet here:

The Bella Twins Comment On Why They Attacked Ronda Rousey

Nikki and Brie Bella attacked Ronda Rousey on Monday night in Chicago. The twins and the Raw Women’s Champion had just defeated the Riott Squad for the second time in a row when the attack occurred.

During the attack, the Raw commentary team speculated as to why the Bellas would attack Rousey. After the show, however, WWE cameras caught up with the pair to ask them why they did what they did.

When asked why they would attack someone who had been standing beside them in recent weeks, Brie offered up the following response:

“Been by our side? You mean taking up our space,” Brie said. “Standing in front of us, taking our shine, is that what you mean?”

“Brie and I are here for evolution but we’re here to remind everyone, even Ronda Rousey, that this is a ‘Bellalution’,” added Nikki.

Nikki and Brie Bella’s “Bellalution”

Both Nikki and Brie are former Divas Champions. Nikki held the title twice and Brie on just one occasion. Nikki’s 301-day title reign with the belt is the longest in the now-retired championship’s history. AJ Lee still holds the record for most combined days spent with the title at 406, split between 3 reigns. Unless the title is brought back, AJ will be the all-time record-holder in that category.

Ronda Rousey posted this on Instagram in regards to the attack:

Bayley Wants To Wrestle Ivory At Evolution, Ronda Rousey Thanks The Riott Squad

– WWE Evolution is only three weeks away and Bayley would like to wrestle a WWE Hall of Famer at the all-women’s pay-per-view event.

On Saturday, Ivory tagged Bayley in a tweet complimenting her arm drag with the hashtag “#Evolution.” Bayley responded, “Let’s wrestle.”

Ivory responded, “Can I have a year to get in shape, first?!” Bayley then said, “How about I give you until Oct. 28?” — Evolution takes place on October 28.

There’s a personal connection between the two as Bayley met Ivory when she was 12 years old and the then-WWE star asked her if she’s going to see her in the ring one day.

“I remember having the opportunity to meet Ivory as a kid, and she was the first woman’s wrestler that I met. She looked at me and said, ‘I’m going to see you in the ring one day aren’t I?'” Bayley said in an interview earlier this year.

“I took that sign that I was going to make it and then I met her again at Wrestlemania 30 or 31 as a member of the WWE roster and told her that story.”

– At WWE Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia, Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins beat The Riott Squad in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match. The match ended in a unique fashion as Rousey made Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan submit simultaneously to a double armbar. Rousey took to Instagram on Sunday to thank Australia, The Bella Twins and even The Riott Squad.

Rousey wrote, “Yesterday moved me to my core. Thank you Melbourne. Thank you Australia. Thank you everyone who smiled back at me at #WWESSD … thank you @thenikkibella and @thebriebella for having my back in the ring last night…. And thank you #RiotSquad @rubyriottwwe @sarahloganwwe @yaonlylivvonce for being the force we had to reckon with.”

The Bella Twins Comment on Evolution of Women’s Division

Nikki and Brie Bella have made their opinions clear on the evolution of the Women’s division. The WWE Superstar’s official Twitter account sent out a tweet over the weekend. “ev·o·lu·tion The gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form. Development, advancement, growth, rise, progress, expansion, unfolding, transformation, adaptation, modification, revision. Women honoring empowering & uniting other women at WWE.”

Smackdown General Manager Paige and Carmella commented on an article online earlier this week on the original ‘Divas’ division. The article (entitled How the Divas are damaging the Evolution) was heavily criticised by both Superstars. Paige commented that the Bella Twins were “the OG ladies to help kickstart the #givedivasachance trend” and that “They deserve to be apart of everything and more.” Nikki and Brie’s comments on the tweet appear to be a direct reaction to the article in question.

Brie and Nikki will be teaming with Ronda Rousey in October. The Twins will face the Riott Squad at WWE Super Show-down on October 6th in Australia alongside the RAW Women’s Champion. Brie Bella is also scheduled to face Ruby Riott on this week’s RAW show.

Nikki also recently reacted to the Bella Twin’s return to WWE, mentioning that “I can’t believe I’m going to be tagging with Ronda Rousey. I feel very blessed right now with my life.”

Rumor On Ronda Rousey’s Wrestlemania 35 Opponent

There is an interesting rumor going around about Ronda Rousey’s WrestleMania 35 opponent. For months, there has been speculation that the RAW Women’s Champion was on a collision course with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte. Wrestling pundits and fans alike have speculated that this bout could be the first women’s match to ever headline a WrestleMania.

Rousey vs. Charlotte could still very well happen. However, another name has surfaced as a potential challenger to Ronda Rousey on April 7th, 2019. It would be the culmination of a longtime feud that even UFC could not make happen. The latest rumored opponent for Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania is none other than UFC Women’s Featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. Cyborg called in to Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show and commented on the possibility of working with Rousey at WrestleMania.

Cyborg Call In

Ariel Helwani broached the subject of WWE wanting to bring Cyborg in to work with Ronda Rousey. “The WWE are considering trying to sign you to have you compete against Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania 35 next year in New Jersey, is this accurate?”

Cyborg was cryptic in her response, but seemed to be open to the idea, “I don’t know, I just heard this news today. If it is happening, maybe we can give all the fans the fight they’ve never seen…I think it would be great for all the fans that would like to watch but I’m not sure about that 100%, but…I’ll talk to my manager and see what’s going to be if its a good thing or not. I don’t know. Maybe it happens, maybe not.”

The topic ended with Helwani asking, “ So you’d be interested if the deal is right?”

Cyborg gave an responded with enthusiasm. “Yes, it would be great. I think it would be great.”

Ronda Rousey vs. Cyborg at WrestleMania 35?

Rousey and Cyborg actually have quite a storied history. Ronda arrived in Strikeforce in 2011, back when Cyborg was already a champion, before eventually carving a historic path in the UFC. It would take a while before the two women were once again in the same organization.

A dream match between the two competitors would never take place, unfortunately. The weight difference between the athletes is what was blamed for this, with the two women fighting at different weight classes and no catch weight bout ever successfully negotiated.

In the past, Cyborg has been critical of Rousey, believing Ronda was scared about facing her inside the octagon.

“[…] when you see her [Rousey] fight Holly [Holm] and Amanda [Nunes],” she said to The Ring Report, “you see why she ran from me. She didn’t want to fight me, for sure.”

Cyborg has also enjoyed poking light fun at her one-time potential opponent via Twitter:

If the match were to go down, it would be a coup for the WWE, bringing to a head a feud that has lasted many years, across numerous promotions, and even entirely different entertainment mediums.

Who would you rather see Ronda face off against? Charlotte Flair or Cris Cyborg?

“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey Debuts New Move (Video)

RAW Women’s champion, “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey continues to evolve in her new role within the WWE, as she debuted a new move into her arsenal this past Friday during a live event in Edinburgh, Texas.

Ronda has added a gut wrench powerbomb into her moveset, unleashing it during a house show match that saw her retain over former champ-Alexa Bliss, days before their championship rematch at tonight’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

You can watch Rousey execute the move in the video below:

Her love of pro wrestling and, in particular, her personal fandom of “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has been well documented, and she has done an impressive job so far in the role that has been given to her. Many were positively surprised after her debut match went down at this year’s Wrestlemania 34, where she teamed with Kurt Angle, defeating Triple H and Stephanie McMahon via submission.

It’s reaffirming to see Ronda Rousey endeavour to continuously apply herself as she continues to transition from former Mixed Martial Arts competitor into WWE Superstar. With a love for the product, a natural aptitude, undeniable athleticism, and a willingness to grow and change, Ronda could well be on her way to becoming one of the best in the business.

Bret Hart Honored By Ronda Rousey & Natalya Hart Foundation Tribute

Natalya and Ronda Rousey teamed up to give their opponents a “Hart Attack” last night. The move was the finisher for Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart for years when they were a tag-team.

Hart took the time to say how honored he was by the gesture.

Ronda Rousey then responded:

Natalya chimed in as well:

Ronda Rousey on Natalya’s Influence

Rousey spoke about Natalya earlier this summer while promoting the movie Mile 22.

“I’ve known Nattie years before I started wrestling,” Rousey said. “She teaches me so much technically, obviously but I was coming into a new environment, I was nervous and felt like the new kid in school,” Rousey said. “She really went out of her way to make me feel welcome and comfortable and part of the family. She’s been amazing since day one and I’m so lucky to have her as a friend.”

Ronda Rousey (c) vs Alexa Bliss

It took less than 5 minutes for Ronda Rousey to roll through Alexa Bliss when they met at Summerslam. Rousey is undefeated since joining WWE earlier this year. Including house shows, Rousey is a perfect 18-0.

On WWE programming she’s 5-0 with 3 singles victories, 1 in mixed tag-team action, and one last night in traditional tag-team action with Natalya.

Alexa Bliss On Her Initial Reaction To WWE Signing Ronda Rousey

WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey recently took part in a media conference call to promote the Hell In A Cell (HIAC) pay-per-view (PPV). During the call, Bliss talked about her ongoing rivalry with Ronda Rousey.

Rousey defeated Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship at SummerSlam last month. Now Bliss will get her rematch for the title this Sunday in Texas.

Bliss talked about WWE signing Rousey, their match at HIAC, and what she needs to do to end Rousey’s dominance in WWE. Here are the highlights:

Ronda Rousey’s arrival to the WWE boosted the women’s evolution. When did you know about Ronda coming to the WWE, and what was your initial reaction?

“I think it’s great. I’ve said it before, that I think if we can have any woman from any other background to come into the WWE, it makes it better for the performers. So, I’ve been a fan of it since day one.”

With all the hype surrounding Ronda Rousey, how big of an opportunity is it for you to establish yourself as the most dominant women’s athlete by beating her at the Hell In A Cell pay–per–view?

“Obviously, I have some things to work on. SummerSlam did not go according to plan, so it’s time to look back and see what I did wrong, and find Ronda’s weakness, work on it, and figure out a way to get my title back, because that would probably legitimize my (spot) as the most dominant champion at that point.”

Ronda Rousey came to the WWE with a chip on her shoulder, but has been dominant thus far. What do you think it would take to finally end her dominance in the company?

“I think, for me, it would be to show that Ronda’s not really the baddest woman on the planet, and that the baddest woman on the planet is still beatable – I said the same thing about Asuka, that there is no such thing as ‘unbeatable’; I might be the one to prove that with Ronda. That would be the most amazing thing for me.”

Steve Austin On Rumored Charlotte vs. Rousey Match At Wrestlemania 35

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin took to his podcast recently to discuss his opinion on the rumoured Wrestlemania 35 match between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.

When contemplating Charlotte Flair’s character work as a compelling heel, Austin first juxtaposed her with her father, Ric:

“I loved [Ric] Flair as a heel. He’s the greatest [pro] wrestler of all time, but his heel work was outstanding. His baby work, eh, he’s still Ric Flair, but I like Ric Flair as a heel,” he observed.

“For me, Charlotte is a defined heel. We know she’s a heel. We’re pushing her as a heel. We’re booking her as a heel. Yeah, to me, she has a defined role. She’s totally confident in either one, but I think she’s more comfortable as a heel,” Austin said, before continuing, “And that’s not from me talking to her. That’s from me guessing that she’s more comfortable as a heel, but she’s going to do whatever they [the WWE] ask of her.”

With that in mind, Austin’s thoughts then turned to the rumoured match up that could take place next April.

“Boy, that has the potential to be a hell of a main event, but then you’ve got two babies. Would you go two babies or would you make sure Charlotte’s a heel because Ronda needs to be the baby?”

Ronda Rousey

Austin’s insight on this is timely, given the recent debate over the current Smackdown feud between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, who many have compared to “Stone Cold” in her recent antihero/heel turn.

Thanks to WrestlingInc.com for the transcription.

So, if the match were to go down at Mania, who would you prefer to go in as the face/heel of their showdown? Charlotte Flair or Ronda Rousey?

Four Horsewomen Of MMA Team Up At NXT Live Event (Photos)

We’re one step closer to a Four Horsewomen of MMA vs. Four Horsewomen of WWE match.

The Four Horsewomen of MMA are fairly new to professional wrestling. Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler are all currently inked to WWE deals. Rousey currently reigns as RAW Women’s Champion on the main roster.

The remaining three reside on NXT, with Baszler coming off a reign as NXT Women’s Champion. Shafir and Duke are just getting their feet wet inside the ring.

WWE’s eventual goal is a Four Horsewomen of MMA vs. Four Horsewomen of WWE (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch) match. That bout has been speculated for Survivor Series later this year.

Yesterday Baszler, Duke and Shafir teamed up to defeat Nikki Cross, Io Shirai and Dakota Kai in a Six-Man Tag Team match at an NXT live event. Check out some photos from the match here:

Alexa Bliss Says She’s Preparing For Ronda Rousey Rematch

WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss was interviewed by the CT Post during her appearance at the Connecticut Open.

Bliss comes off a RAW Women’s Title loss to Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam over the weekend. She admitted that if anyone had to take the title off of her, at least it was Ronda Rousey. Not many get to say that they shared the ring with the female mixed martial arts (MMA) pioneer:

“My thing on the whole situation is if there’s anyone that had to take the title from me at least it was Ronda Rousey,” Bliss said.

“Not many people can say they had their first big title loss to Ronda Rousey. I guess I’m OK.”

Bliss pointed out that she still has a rematch clause that she looks to invoke soon. She says she’s currently preparing for the rematch but doesn’t know quite yet when it will take place:

“But I do have a rematch clause that I get to invoke at any point,” said Bliss. “Every champion is entitled to a rematch. I am preparing for that. I don’t know when it’s going to happen. She’s going to hold the title for now, but she’s not going to hold it for long.”

WWE Evolution

Aside from a pending rematch with Rousey, Bliss has another high-profile match on the horizon. She has been announced to be facing Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus at WWE Evolution. The pay-per-view (PPV) is WWE’s first all-female show in history:

“It’s very exciting,” said Bliss. “I’ve always loved Trish, I always watched Trish growing up. I actually got to meet her for the first time at the Women’s World Rumble Match.

“I wasn’t able to be part of it because I was holding a title at the time. I’m really excited to be in the ring with her, to have this match with an idol.

“I really want to work with Trish. I’ve worked hard for this. It might be a little harder to get mad and mean at Trish.”

Sasha Banks Explains How Her Opinion of Ronda Rousey Changed

When former UFC champion Ronda Rousey first arrived in WWE back in January at the Royal Rumble, there were more than a few women on the roster who weren’t exactly excited at the attention she received after a historic match just took place.

The first ever women’s Royal Rumble won by Asuka was suddenly dwarfed by Rousey’s arrival and superstars like Sasha Banks weren’t very happy about the way it all unfolded.

Now eight months later, Rousey is the new RAW women’s champion and it appears opinions about her have changed dramatically now that she’s been part of the locker room for most of 2018.

“When I first found out she was going to come, I was like we don’t need that,” Banks told Peter Rosenberg on “Open Late”. “I don’t need that taking away what we’re doing but she helps so much. She works so hard. She always wants to learn. She loves it and respects it and I appreciate that.

“She works really hard. You can see that in the ring.”

Rousey seems to have won over the entire women’s roster since her arrival and now just about everybody is anxious to share the ring with her at some point.

Banks hasn’t actually had any kind of opportunity to work with Rousey yet, but she believes when it does happen, they will put on a phenomenal match together.

“Any time, I’m ready for her,” Banks said about facing Rousey. “Especially like knowing her now, I’m more than happy to have a match with her. I think she’s awesome.

“I think we can make magic together. I [haven’t got] anything bad to say about her.”

What do you think about a potential Sasha Banks vs. Ronda Rousey match in the future? Sound off in the comments and let us know!

WWE Evolution Main Event Expected To Be Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella

There is another reliable report out regarding the planned WWE Evolution main event. According to the Wrestling Observer, Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will face Nikki Bella in the headline match of WWE’s historic all-women’s pay-per-view.

“The lead idea for the Evolution main event on 10/28 at the Nassau Coliseum is Rousey vs. Nikki Bella,” wrote Dave Meltzer. “With the idea you are headlining with the two biggest mainstream women stars in the company.”

Over the past week, we’ve seen The Bella Twins return to WWE television and Ronda Rousey capture the RAW Women’s Championship. At both SummerSlam and Raw, the Bella Twins have had stood alongside Rousey in celebrating her championship victory.

WWE Evolution takes place on Sunday, October 28th from Long Island, New York at the Nassau Coliseum. Expect to see more interactions between Rousey and the Bellas in the coming weeks. The Bellas have been supportive of Rousey thus far. It will be interesting to see how and when things go sideways.

Visit our WWE Evolution event page for more information.

WWE Evolution Main Event

The storyline may have already started to take shape this week. The Bellas were ringside during Rousey’s segment with Stephanie McMahon on Raw. They were also shown watching Rousey win the title at Summerslam.

The Bellas and Rousey are not strangers. The Bellas would sometimes train with Ronda when they were in California before Rousey got into the business herself. Rousey and her team would teach the twins MMA and judo moves, while the Bellas taught them wrestling moves. The Bellas and Rousey appeared together at the 2015 ESPY awards as well.

In 2015, Nikki told TMZ reporters she would love to face Ronda some day.

Ronda Rousey Reacts To RAW Women’s Title Win

Ronda Rousey was able to capture her first WWE Title when she beat Alexa Bliss for the WWE RAW Women’s Title at Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view from Brooklyn, New York.

After her victory, former UFC star spoke to Cathy Kelley backstage. Rousey explained that winning the championship wasn’t just her accomplishment. In fact, see feels it was a torch that has been passed to her from all of the women who held the title before her.

Watch: Ronda Rousey reflects on winning the RAW Women’s Championship:

That was Sunday night, after the win. On Monday afternoon, with some time to reflect on the magnitude of her achievement, Rousey posted another statement on Twitter. Rousey wrote:

“The creativity of fate never ceases to amaze me. I do not take this responsibility lightly. I will devote every fiber of my being to carry on and elevate the legacy of the scores of women who gave their bodies and hearts to the WWE to get us this far.”

WWE’s next pay-per-view offering is Hell in a Cell, which takes place on Sunday, September 16th from San Antonio, Texas. It remains to be seen when if former champion Alexa Bliss will seek a rematch against Rousey.

Even if Rousey does not defend the RAW Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell, it won’t be long before her next high-profile bout. October features two huge events for WWE, one of which is sure to feature Rousey in a big way.

On October 6th, WWE heads ‘down under’ for Super Show-Down at the Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium in East Melbourne, Australia. Later that month, WWE presents its first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution.

Ronda Rousey Wins RAW Women’s Title At WWE SummerSlam

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is now queen of the women’s division on the red brand.

Rousey beat Alexa Bliss to win the RAW Women’s Title at Sunday’s (August 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network.

Bliss’ third reign as champion didn’t last long as she beat Nia Jax after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in June in Rosemont, IL.

Rousey has put distance between herself and MMA as now she’s in the WWE and is learning to make the transition from the Octagon to the ring. Rousey has been out of the fight game for two years after suffering devastating losses in her last two bouts under the UFC banner.

Rousey made her professional wrestling in-ring debut when teaming up with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 34 in April after signed made her promotional debut at the Royal Rumble event.

Charlotte Flair Calls Out Ronda Rousey

There’s potential for a massive WWE women’s match down the road.

On SmackDown Live, it’s arguable that Charlotte Flair is the brand’s biggest female star. There’s no argument as to who is the biggest female star on Monday Night RAW, however. That spot is reserved for ex-UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

Both women will challenge for titles at tonight’s SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) in Brooklyn, New  York. It’s possible they find themselves standing across the ring from one another at some point down the road.

Flair recently appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up!” to promote SummerSlam. During the interview, Flair was asked by NFL player Keyshawn Johnson who in WWE she hasn’t faced yet that she wants to.

Flair Calls Out Rousey

“The Queen” responded by naming Stephanie McMahon and Ronda Rousey. Flair then elaborated on what it would be like sharing the ring with Rousey. She challenged the notion that Rousey is the “Toughest Woman On The Planet”:

“They keep saying she’s the toughest woman on the planet; but, I think I’m the toughest woman on the planet.”

Flair was then asked if she thinks she could headline a WrestleMania with Rousey. She admits it would be the right storyline, but is adamant about headlining a WrestleMania regardless of the opponent:

“Headlining WrestleMania is definitely a dream of mine. Who the opponent is, it really doesn’t matter because I’m headlining WrestleMania; but, I think it would be the right story.

“She says that she’s a 4-Horsewoman and I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m a Flair. I’m blood.’ So it’s 4 on 4? I don’t know.”

Dave Meltzer’s Recent Comments

Furthermore, Flair was asked to offer her thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding Dave Meltzer’s comments about SmackDown Live Superstar Peyton Royce:

“That’s what’s amazing about our job is that we do have a platform to make a difference and voice our opinions on certain things like that. In terms of her appearance being criticized, I just go, ‘Aren’t we past that?’

“You wouldn’t see someone sitting here saying, ‘Roman Reigns’ hair is phenomenal, or Seth [Rollins’] abs,’ or people wouldn’t be like, ‘AJ Styles on TNA looked better than WWE.’

“It shouldn’t be a topic of conversation and I know that we’re Superstars and people see us as untouchable; but, we’re human and when you see negativity like that, it’s gotta hurt her.

“I just wanted to touch her [Peyton Royce] and be like, ‘Listen, ignore that.’ My Dad always said that if they’re talking about you, you must be doing something right and that’s what they were doing.

“They were talking about her. Whether it’s her looks or not, you would think that we’re passed that.”

Ronda Rousey Wants Fans’ Help Naming Finisher

Ronda Rousey wants fans’ help naming her non-submission finisher. Rousey typically likes to finish her matches with her signature armbar. On the other hand, the former UFC champ also has a non-submission finisher she pulls out form time-to-time. Rousey puts her opponents on her shoulders and does a spinning suplex of sorts.

That finisher has yet to be named. “The Rowdy One” spoke to Yahoo Sports to promote tonight’s SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) event. During their conversation, Rousey contemplated a name for the finisher.

Rousey said she liked the sound of “Plex and Violence.” It’s a play off of the song the UFC didn’t allow her to walk out to before her fights, “Sex and Violence.” She’s not sure WWE would allow the name, so she asked fans for their input:

“Oh, that throw I keep doing? We keep throwing around names for it. Originally, my walkout song for MMA I wanted to be ‘Sex and Violence’ and they wouldn’t let me. So I thought a cool name would be ‘Plex and Violence,’ like suplex and violence.

“Yeah, so Plex and Violence I like. Maybe, I don’t know, it’s PG, I don’t know if they’ll let me keep it. What do you guys think? … Or do you have any suggestions? I’m open to suggestions. Name that thing that I do.”

Ronda Rousey faces RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss tonight at SummerSlam. Ronda Rousey is also rumored to be involved in the WWE Evolution main event.

Ronda Rousey: WWE Women’s Champion, Is It Too Soon?

Ronda Rousey will be stepping into the biggest match of her short wrestling career this Sunday. The ‘Rowdy’ Superstar will face Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship. Rousey is currently tipped as the odds on favourite to win the bout (1/5 at the time of writing). The question now has to be is this all too soon?

Rousey’s mainstream appeal is unquestionable. The former UFC Champion arguably catapulted Women’s MMA into the main event and gave the division a viable ‘killer’ who remained dominant for a lengthy period of time. Rousey herself has stated her love for pro wrestling and has been appearing for WWE in cameo parts since Wrestlemania 31 with The Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Rookie Year

Still, to give the top Women’s Championship to a Superstar who is less than a year into her career is a gamble. Rousey has been more than serviceable as a performer thus far, with a show-stealing Wrestlemania performance and excellent work against Nia Jax at Money In The Bank and Alicia Fox on Monday Night RAW. To be a champion at the top of the pile and to represent a division however is a very different proposition.

If you have ability then tenure shouldn’t be factor, Kurt Angle achieved a huge amount in his rookie year and has gone on to become one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots. Comparing Ronda to Kurt is bold but she has the pedigree; a premiere athlete with a passion and clear understanding of the business with huge upside potential.

Marketing Power

Still, this will be Ronda’s fourth match on WWE programming. With WWE’s renewed focus on Women’s wrestling and their upcoming Evolution PPV they could easily go with Ronda as the Champion OR Alexa Bliss could retain. A poster featuring Ronda Rousey holding the Women’s Title on a billboard in Manhattan sounds like marketing gold but would this be accepted by the fans or yet another rejection of WWE’s booking policies?

A potential difference maker may be the result of the Universal Title match. If Brock Lesnar retains then would you want two top “part-time” Champions? Whilst Ronda is touted as a full-time star she won’t be appearing on every single RAW. You have to also consider what two UFC affiliated Superstars as the top Champions also looks like to the casual consumer, would this make the rest of the roster seem weak? Likely not, but it’s worth considering.

Is it too soon for Ronda to take the belt? I’m leaning more towards saying no. This would actually be the perfect time to have Rousey win the big one and head into Evolution as the top star of the RAW brand. Marketing potential, star power and mainstream appeal are too great for WWE to ignore and Ronda Rousey is the biggest star that they have right now. It doesn’t hurt that she is pretty damn good in the ring too.

Ronda Rousey Opens Up On Her Friendship With Natalya

Ronda Rousey has had a great run with WWE thus far.

She made her debut back in April at WrestleMania 34. Rousey teamed up with Kurt Angle and defeated Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team match. “The Rowdy One” returned to the ring at the Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV).

Rousey took on Nia Jax for the RAW Women’s Championship. It looked as though Rousey was about to win the title, when Alexa Bliss crashed the party with her MITB briefcase. After attacking both Jax and Rousey, Bliss cashed-in her briefcase and won the RAW Women’s Title.

This weekend at SummerSlam, Rousey gets her shot at redemption when she takes on Bliss for the strap. Rousey spoke to AMNY.com to promote this weekend’s Brooklyn event. During the conversation Ronda Rousey opens up about her friendship with fellow WWE star Natalya.

Natalya has been training with Rousey since the beginning of her trials with WWE. Rousey said Natalya really went out of her way to train her for her professional wrestling career in WWE:

“I’ve known Nattie years before I started wrestling. She teaches me so much technically, obviously but I was coming into a new environment, I was nervous and felt like the new kid in school,” Rousey said.

“She really went out of her way to make me feel welcome and comfortable and part of the family. She’s been amazing since day one and I’m so lucky to have her as a friend.”
