Update On The Length Of Ronda Rousey’s WWE Deal

As we’ve previously noted, WWE Hall Of Famers Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan were interviewed by WSVN-TV Entertainment Reporter Chris Van Vliet at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

During the interview Flair seemed to indicate that Rousey’s deal with WWE was only for one year, as she planned on starting a family soon:

“In my humble opinion, if Rousey wants to elevate her status in the company she needs to go through The Queen and The Queen ain’t afraid of her, I got news for ya. I just saw her deadlift 315 lbs and she can bench 205 lbs for 6 reps. She is gifted beyond belief.

“I’m not involved obviously in any of the thinking but if they’re ever going to put the women where they belong, this is the year because I think Ronda has only signed a one-year deal and then she wants to get out of there. She wants to have kids and all that. She just needs to be be prepared to lose. Not if sure if Ronda likes that.”

A new report from Wrestling Inc. suggests that Rousey’s deal with WWE is actually a multi-year deal. It should be noted, however, that Rousey did tell Yahoo! Sports in March that she plans on having children with her husband, UFC heavyweight fighter Travis Browne, soon:

“We’re ready to start having kids soon and I was thinking about what I’ve left unfinished in my life because I want to entirely focus on having kids when that time comes,” Rousey said.

“I took a long look at my life and thought that if I don’t try and take a shot with the WWE, I would regret it for the rest of my life. I want to be an example to my kids about pursuing your dreams and being able to do anything. I guess this is my way of nesting and getting ready for children. I’m trying to prove to my unborn babies that they can accomplish any dream that they want to go after.”

Discussion: How long do you think Rousey’s WWE career will last? Do you expect her to take a significant amount of time off soon to begin a family?

Ric Flair Reveals How Long Ronda Rousey’s WWE Deal Is For

As we’ve previously reported, WSVN-TV Entertainment Reporter Chris Van Vliet interviewed WWE Hall Of Famers Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. During the interview Flair discussed the possibility of his daughter, Charlotte Flair, wrestling Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35.

During his answer he let it slip that Rousey may have signed a one-year deal with WWE, as she wants to start a family soon:

He also was asked why he never faced Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania during their heydays:

“I had no idea I was going to win the Rumble, I just came in and I was 40 years old and this was 1991. People had waited for it so long that I think they said we’re not waiting until WrestleMania. Let’s put these guys together because nothing else was working at the time.

“We actually started on the West Coast and sold out everything and in all honesty Turner did not have the audience or the viewership in the West Coast that they had in the Midwest. So they knew me but not that well. So we went to Oakland, LA, Phoenix, San Diego and back on the road I landed in New York, Bobby Hennan quit then we did the Garden and we didn’t see each other.”

Nia Jax On The Importance Of Facing Ronda Rousey At WWE Money In The Bank, Dream Opponents

WWE RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax is preparing for the biggest match thus far in her pro wrestling career.

The sports entertainment company has already announced that Rousey is slated to challenge Jax for the RAW Women’s Title at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view event on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena, which will air on the WWE Network.

Jax was interviewed at the WWE For Your Consideration 2018 Emmy nomination campaign.

During the interview, Jax was asked about facing the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion for the strap at this event. She explained the importance of it by stating the following (transcript courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com):

“It puts everything into perspective, I used to watch Ronda Rousey kill it in the UFC and she’s considered the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ and now I get to face her, I challenged her for [the title] at WWE Money in the Bank,” Jax said. “It gives me goosebumps about what’s going to happen and I don’t even know what’s going to happen.”

Although Jax rose to the top of the women’s division on the red brand quickly, she still has several stars she would like to work with both on the main roster and in NXT.

“I’d love to work with Charlotte Flair, she’s the best athlete in our company,” Jax responded. “Some girls down in NXT, we have Bianca Belair and Aliyah. One of the newcomers, Ember Moon, she’s killing it as well. Anybody from the Riott Squad.”

Ric Flair Says Ronda Rousey Only Signed A 1-Year Contract

According to the 16x World Champion, Ric Flair, WWE’s hottest mainstream celebrity is only signed on through next year’s WrestleMania. Flair’s understanding of the situation is that Rousey is only on a short-term commitment deal as she plans on starting a family.

Flair made the comments during an interview with Chris Van Vliet.

Ric Flair: Ronda Rousey Only Signed To 1-Year Contract

During the interview, the topic turned to Charlotte Flair possibly facing Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35 next year. It’s possible Charlotte and Ronda will be the first women to headline a WrestleMania.

Flair seemed to suggest Charlotte vs Ronda will need to happen next year as Ronda is only signed to a 1-year deal with the company.

“If they are ever going to put the women where they belong, this is the year because Ronda – I think Ronda only signed a 1-year deal and then she’s out of there,” Flair said. “She wants to have kids and all that.”

Flair and Hogan have been making promotional appearances together for several months. Since his health scare last year, Flair has been one of Hogan’s biggest proponents, stating the Hulkster has been there for him during some very tough periods in his life. Flair has been advocating for a return to WWE for Hogan as well.

The interviewer then turned his attention to Hogan. He asked the Hulkster how things were going in terms of an eventual return to WWE.

“Things are moving in that direction quite quickly,” Hogan said. “It’s all about execution and timing.”

CM Punk Reveals Advice He Gave To Ronda Rousey Before Her WWE In-Ring Debut

CM Punk did offer some advice to Ronda Rousey before her in-ring WWE debut.

Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut by teaming up with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team Match at WrestleMania 34 in April.

Punk, who is good friends with the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, continues to make the media rounds to promote his welterweight bout against Mike Jackson in the opening bout of the main card for the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view event on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Punk was asked by media members on Wednesday if he gave any advice to Rousey about her journey from MMA to the WWE.

“The only thing I told her was to just have fun,” said Punk (transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting). “I don’t know what it’s like back there in this current environment. I know she’d probably get treated differently, just as I know I probably get treated differently here. The only thing I ever told her is, ‘I know you’ve got a lot of people telling you, do this, don’t do this’ — whatever you do, when you go out there for WrestleMania, make sure you have fun. Period.”

Punk did mention that although he didn’t watch the match, he was able to see some clips of it.

“No, I did not,” CM Punk said. “I saw a couple of clips here and there. And still, when I say it’s hard for me to watch wrestling, it’s not like an anxiety thing, it’s not like an, ‘ugh, I can’t do it.’ I literally, I can’t get through eight seconds without being like, ‘OK, umm, can I change the channel? I’m bored, I gotta watch something else.’ It’s like going to a baseball game at [New York Mets stadium] CitiField. I like Wrigley Field, it’s old school. Going to a baseball game at CitiField, it’s like a guy gets ball four and they blow off fireworks and there’s LED screens on everything.

“Wrestling now is completely like that. There’s LED screens everywhere and there’s flashing lights and I feel like I’m gonna have a seizure.”

DDP On Ronda Rousey’s Push, WWE’s New TV Deals

WWE Hall Of Famer Diamond Dallas Page recently talked to CBS Washington DC where he discussed WWE’s new TV deals, Ronda Rousey getting a significant push early on in her WWE career. Below are some highlights from the interview:

DDP on Ronda Rousey getting WWE Raw Women’s Championship opportunity:

I think that would be like asking whether you’re a Republican or Democrat. You’re gonna have people say, ‘She’s who she is and she should get it.’ And other people are gonna go, ‘No, she didn’t earn it, she didn’t deserve it.’ But a lot people don’t understand all the work she put in to get to where she is today. So bottom line is, she’d be one of the highest paid people there. And she’s one of the highest paid people there because she draws and people are tuning in.

My opinion is, I think she’s gonna draw. I haven’t been watching enough to see her work, but I know what she did at WrestleMania and she killed it. So I think the girls are so good today. One of the things when you’re a great worker like a lot of these young ladies today, from Bailey to The Boss Sasha Banks. Charlotte’s one of the best athletes in the company. When they get there and they realize you’re in a feud with Ronda Rousey, guess what, you just got mainstream attention.

That’s gonna hold on for a while. Because I would never even push Ronda out of maybe doing a comeback [in UFC]. And guess what. She’s still a draw. She wouldn’t come back and go right against the champion, but she’d go out there and everybody would want to tune in. So don’t discount that either.”

On new TV deals acquired by WWE:

“Wrestling is cyclical. And if you look at the 80s, it had an unbelievable run and then it just fell down. 90s had the biggest run ever, because of the Monday Night Wars. People would say, ‘Do you think you’ll ever see that again?’ I say to them, ‘You’ll never see it like that again.’ See Vince [McMahon] has mainstreamed the television. And he’s the taken the wrestle and over the last 20 years made him a superstar not a wrestler. And the biggest star in the world is who? Is The Rock. Then out of wrestling the next guy would be John Cena. And then maybe Dave Bautista, because what he did in the wrestling world, but what he’s doing in Hollywood. He is an A List actor, now so is John.

You’re gonna see a lot of guys come out of that. You’re gonna see The Miz come out at some point and have a hell of a film career. Cody Rhodes just got five episodes coming up on The Arrow. He’s mainstreamed the boys, and the girls. Because it’s not like these crazy ratings that they had. We had better ratings than they had back in the day. But it’s more mainstream audience, so it’s a way more valuable audience.

So no, I’m not surprised at all. I’m super happy because they’re getting these kind of money numbers from the television and they own the network, the WWE Network. So owning your own channel on a spot where you’ve got it 24/7 and we’re talking about creating your own channel. Just like I did with DDP Yoga. My DDP Yoga channel with my DDPY workouts, it’s my own channel. And I’m constantly putting money into making it better. I’m like over $2 million into my DDP Yoga Now App, which is insane. And no one, and that’s including Beach Body or anybody else is doing it the way we’re doing it.”

Ronda Rousey ‘Not Ready’ For Singles Matches?

The baddest woman on the planet has her first singles title match at MITB, but WWE officials are reportedly not sold that she’s ready to be working full-length singles matches.

Original Plans For European Tour

With the European tour behind us, it was originally planned for Rousey to face Mickie James during the duration of the tour. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE officials felt that Rousey was “not ready” for singles competition and opted to stick her in six women tag matches for the remaining tour.

Rousey was scheduled to face Mickie James in singles matches on the WWE European tour that just wrapped up but plans changed at the last minute and Rousey teamed with Ember Moon and Natalya to defeat Mickie, Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan in six-woman matches. Dave Meltzer said that the matches were changed because officials did not feel like Rousey was ready for a singles match with Mickie.

What’s next for Rousey?

With that in mind, it seems that the WWE has jumped the gun by placing Rousey in a title match at MITB. While her Wrestlemania/in-ring debut was considered a classic by many, that match was a mix-tag and included great ring technicians such as Kurt Angle and Triple H but, was heavily scripted move for move. Her singles debut against Nia Jax is expected to draw attention due to the fact that John Cena or Brock Lesnar are not on the card.

While there is some time between now and MITB, it will be interesting to see how Rousey will fair against the current Raw Women’s Champion.

Ronda Rousey’s Message For Nia Jax

Ronda Rousey is set to challenge for her first title in WWE, when she takes on Nia Jax for the RAW Women’s Title at the Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) later next month. Last night on RAW, Commissioner Stephanie McMahon hosted the contract signing between the two.

McMahon was able to manipulate Jax and Rousey into turning on each other and getting a bit hostile. Both women exchanged some heated words before shaking hands and starring down.

On Instagram earlier today, The Rowdy One had some strong words for the RAW Women’s Champ ahead of their match:

Ronda Rousey Reacts To Her WWE House Show Debut

While Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut on the biggest stage possible at WrestleMania 34 last month, it appears that the former UFC Star is still getting used to the WWE customs.

Standing on the turnbuckle and waving at the crowd or posing for the photos is a regular move for any WWE Star and it usually comes after they have won a match.

However, reacting to her first house show match in WWE as seen in the video below, Ronda revealed that she didn’t know how to do this and the house show in Geneva was the first time she stood up on the turnbuckle for a pose:

For those who don’t know Ronda Rousey made her WWE House Show debut last night while wrestling in a Raw Brand Live Event from Geneva.

Though while she was originally announced to face Mickie James in a one on one match, the former UFC Star ended up competing in a 6 Women Tag match instead.

She teamed up with Natalya and Ember Moon to face the trio of Mickie James, Liv Morgan, and Ruby Riott. The match was won by Rousey and her team when she made James tap out to an arm bar.

As noted before, Ronda Rousey is scheduled to work a number of more Live events in near future and she is also expected to wrestle at an upcoming Raw episode.

After this and the announcement that she will be challenging for the Raw Women’s Championship, many believe that Ronda will be wrestling more frequently in upcoming times and she may start competing regularly on Television soon.

Ronda Rousey is currently set to challenge Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Championship at Money In The Bank on June 17th.

Ronda Rousey Makes WWE Live Event Debut (Video)

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has worked her first WWE live event.

On Wednesday, the sports entertainment company held a RAW live event in Geneva, Switzerland at the SEG Geneva Arena that featured Rousey making her live event debut.

Fans in attendance noted that she teamed up with Natalya and Ember Moon to take on the team of Mickie James, Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott.

The finish of the match saw Rousey take down James then applied the armbar for the quick submission.

https://twitter.com/wwefullthings/status/996866123546185731

Originally, Rousey was slated to wrestle Mickie James in a singles match on this tour. However, WWE changed plans and it appears that she will be working six-woman tag team matches going forward.

She is advertised for the following dates for this ongoing UK tour: May 17th in Vienna, Austria on May 18th in Turin, Italy, and on May 19th in Paris, France.

Rousey is slated to challenge Nia Jax for the RAW Women’s Title at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view event.

Ronda Rousey To Wrestle At Upcoming Raw Episode?

Many fans were worried that Ronda Rousey will have a similar schedule to Brock Lesnar and she will wrestle only on selective PPVs during the year, but it appears that she will at least be wrestling more than the current Universal Champion.

In the past few weeks, Ronda has been announced for several live events and it appears that she will also be wrestling at atleast one Raw episode in upcoming time.

According to WKBW in Buffalo, New York, the former UFC Star will be making her Buffalo in-ring debut during an upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw on July 16th.

At this point, it’s not known if this will also be the in-ring Raw debut of the female star or if the company has plans for her to be part of more Raw episodes between now and the July 16th event. Her opponent for the show is not announced either.

Ronda Rousey made an impactful wrestling debut when she teamed up with Kurt Angle and defeated the pair of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H during WrestleMania 34.

However she didn’t wrestle in any match in the following weeks and after she missed the Backlash PPV as well, many started wondering if Rousey will be having a similar schedule to Lesnar.

Though since then WWE has cleared the air by announcing that Ronda will be wrestling at several Live Events this month. It’s worth mentioning here that she has also been announced for a Live Event in UK in August.

Ronda Rousey is currently scheduled to challenge Nia Jax for Raw Women’s Championship at Money In The Bank on June 17th.

Charlotte Flair Reacts To Rousey vs. Jax, Styles & Nakamura Hype Stipulation Match (Video)

Flair Reacts To Rousey vs. Jax At MITB

As we’ve previously reported, RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax will defend her title against Ronda Rousey at the Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) next month in Chicago.

Charlotte Flair Tweeted out the following in reaction to the announcement, warning both women to be prepared for when she wins the Women’s MITB Ladder match:

AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura Hype Stipulation Match (Video)

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live will feature a non-WWE Title match between champion AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. The winner will select the stipulation for their WWE Title match at the MITB PPV.

Both Styles and Nakamura posted videos on WWE’s Twitter account hyping the match-up tonight. Check them out here:

Styles and Nakamura first fought it out at WrestleMania 34 this past April. Styles won that match-up but was assaulted by Nakamura afterwards. At the Greatest Royal Rumble they rematched, but that ended in a double count-out and resulted in Styles assaulting Nakamura after the match in return.

At Backlash last week, Styles and Nakamura put on what was probably their best match against each other in WWE. That ended in another double count-out, as neither men could get to their feet and answer the referee’s 10 count after exchanging low blows. It should be interesting to see how things shake out at MITB next month.

Ronda Rousey Featured In New Mile 22 Movie Trailer

Ronda Rousey is featured in the first trailer for the upcoming “Mile 22” film.

If you recall, she was filming this movie around the time that she made her surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in January.

The movie is expected to be released on August 3rd, 2018 and stars Rousey, Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais, and John Malkovich.

The description of the film reads like this, “In a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA’s most highly-prized and least understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport an asset who holds life-threatening information to Mile 22 for extraction before the enemy closes in.”

Although Rousey has only competed in one match in her pro wrestling career, the WWE has already announced that Rousey would challenge Nia Jax for the RAW Women’s Title at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view event.

Jax and Rousey were both at an NBCUniversal media event today to announce the news, where Rousey said they are both “very civil and professional,” and they have the same goal of trying to “lift the women’s division.”

Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax Official For Money In The Bank

Nia Jax is ready to give Ronda Rousey real welcome to the WWE – by giving her a title shot.

On Monday as part of the NBC upfront presentations that included the WWE, Jax revealed that she will face Rousey at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view event on June 17.

The two superstars were actually next to each other on the red carpet during the presentation where the revelation was made that Jax challenged Rousey to a match in June.

“We are very civil and professional ladies, so Nia did just challenge me for Money in the Bank to come after her title,” Rousey told E! News on Monday. “I happily oblige respectfully, so I can sit next to her.

“We’re professionals, so when we get in there, there’s a job to be done. We’re outside of the ring, then we can still be respectful to each other. We all have the same goals. We’re all trying to lift the women’s division and to show people that we have more to offer than they’ve given us credit for in the past.”

Jax doubled down in the respect shared with Rousey when they’re both in public but she promises that will all change once they step into the ring together at Money in the Bank.

“We can still get along for now, but once we get in the ring, it’s over. All bets are off, right?” Jax added.

“I’ve never been in a ring with somebody like Ronda. She’s one of a kind, so there definitely has to be an alternation to my regimen and I’m looking forward to it.”

WWE later confirmed the matchup as Rousey will face Jax for the RAW women’s title in June.

It’s been an incredibly fast rise for Rousey after signing to join WWE earlier this year after giving up her previous career in mixed martial arts. Rousey shined in a mix-tag team match at WrestleMania 34 where she teamed with RAW general manager Kurt Angle in a bout against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

After the show was over, the match was hailed as the best for the entire event despite Rousey’s relative naivety when it comes to professional wrestling.

Now it appears WWE is looking to push Rousey directly into title contention without having a single’s match on her resume.

WWE Money in the Bank goes down on June 17 from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Report: Ronda Rousey To Wrestle At Money In The Bank

We now know the next time that Ronda Rousey will wrestle at a WWE PPV event.

POST Wrestling is reporting that the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion is currently scheduled to wrestle at WWE’s Money in the Bank event.

Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut by teaming up with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team Match at WrestleMania 34 last month.

Although this report did not mention who she would be facing at this upcoming event, it could be against Mickie James. Rousey wrestling at Money in the Bank should be considered a rumor for now until WWE confirms the news.

The reason for this speculation is due to the fact that Rousey will wrestle James at four WWE live events as part of the current UK Tour.

It would make sense for Rousey to wrestle James in her first singles match with WWE as if you recall, WWE had Rousey’s match at Mania rehearsed to the point where each spot was laid out. With Rousey and James working four times together before Money in the Bank, it would allow them time to get a match put together in a structured way.

Those dates where Rousey vs. James is advertised to take place include on May 16th in Geneva, Switzerland on May 17th in Vienna, Austria on May 18th in Turin, Italy, and on May 19th in Paris, France

The Money In The Bank pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured.

Reason Why Ronda Rousey Missed This Week’s Episode Of WWE RAW

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey was handling some non-WWE duties on Monday night (May 7, 2018).

She did not appear on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Uniondale, NY at the Nassau Coliseum on the USA Network.

WWE has revealed that the reason she did not appear on the show is due to her currently filming for Shark Week, which begins Sunday, July 22 on Discovery.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if the former UFC champion is expected to return to the sports entertainment company’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, next week as that show will be taped in London, England at the O2 Arena.

Rousey has shared this video on her official Instagram account:
