Cora Jade Teases Return From ACL Injury

A recent tweet from WWE superstar Cora Jade has fans wondering if her return to NXT could be soon. The developmental brand had their Heatwave premium live event on July 7 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. One of the featured matches had WWE NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez successfully defending her title against Lola Vice. While ‘The Prodigy’ celebrated a victory, Jade teased fans on X that she is on track to return to the ring after her ACL injury.

After Perez defeated Vice, WWE posted a graphic on X celebrating her retaining her title and captioned it by asking who could stop her.

The tweet caught Jade’s attention, and she reposted it to warn Perez that her return was coming soon.

It’s unclear exactly when she will be cleared to compete. However, her tweet shows her interest in taking on Perez when she returns.

Cora Jade Rehab Progress & Possible Match With Roxanne Perez

Jade suffered her ACL injury during a match against Lyra Valkyria at an NXT House Show in January. Since then, Jade has been working hard to make a return and has posted her rehab progress on Instagram. On July 5, she shared a video of her doing barbell squats with 155 lbs without a knee brace.

The tweet after Perez’s victory is interesting as the champion continues to dominate the women’s division. She has retained her title five times with notable wins over Jordynne Grace, Natalya, and recently Vice. NXT General Manager Ava is also trying to find opponents that can give Perez a challenge, as ‘The Prodigy’ continues to boast that she is better than everyone else. Given their history as former friends turned rivals, Jade would be an interesting surprise challenger for Perez.

The possibility of Jade challenging Perez for her title depends on whether WWE feels she is ready to return. However, the tweet and her rehab progress show her motivation to get back in the ring.

Jordynne Grace Hosting Open Challenge At TNA Against All Odds

All eyes are on TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace as she prepares to make history. On June 9, she will challenge NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for the title at Battleground. The important matchup will be the first time an active TNA superstar and champion will challenge for a WWE title.

While Grace is focused on achieving a career milestone, she has announced her title defense at TNA Against All Odds on June 14.

‘The Juggernaut”‘ shared on Sirus XM Busted Open with Tommy Dreamer and Dave LaGreca that she will hold an open challenge for her championship at the TNA pay-per-view.

After Grace revealed that her title match was an open challenge, it immediately caught the attention of Dreamer and wrestling fans. TNA Against All Odds, taking place after NXT Battleground, has people wondering if a WWE talent will accept her challenge.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that the ongoing relationship between WWE and TNA could extend beyond NXT Battleground. Due to Grace hosting an open challenge, it’s plausible for anyone from the NXT women’s roster to make an appearance. That said, it’s still unclear if that is what’s being planned, and it’s possible TNA could have her face a talent from their roster.

Regardless, Grace’s announcement adds more anticipation for what will happen at NXT Battleground.

Jorydnne Grace On Potentially Becoming NXT Women’s Champion

Grace’s match against Perez will also mark the first time they will compete against each other. ‘The Juggernaut’ noted that they both grew up in Texas but never had the chance to interact. Although it will be her initial encounter with Perez, Grace feels prepared to win the NXT Women’s Championship. She has already decided that she would be willing to compete on any TNA and NXT events if needed as champion.

“…Honestly, I’m prepared to put my nose to the ground and grind it out again. I did it for years when I was on the Indies, so I’m not a stranger to it, and I’m ready to do it again,” said Grace.

The TNA Knockouts Champion will be in for the match of her life when she faces Perez next month. If she is successful, Grace holding both titles would be a historic moment for WWE and TNA.

Report: Roxanne Perez Didn’t Know About Jordynne Grace’s NXT Surprise

Jordynne Grace was revealed as Roxanne Perez’s opponent for Battleground during this week’s episode of NXT, surprising both fans and the NXT Women’s Champion. Fightful Select reports that Perez was genuinely surprised by Grace’s appearance, as she had insisted on not knowing her opponent beforehand to ensure an authentic reaction. Her reaction on television was organic, which made it an even more memorable moment fans won’t soon forget.

The NXT Women’s Championship match at Battleground is part of an agreement between Grace and NXT, which includes at least three appearances: two advertised matches and her recent appearance. The Fightful report states that Grace is earning at least six figures for these appearances for the NXT brand. She’ll take on Stevie Turner in singles action for the June 4 episode, the go-home show before Battleground.

WWE NXT & TNA Crossover

Andrea Concepcion and Johnny Russo were responsible for organizing Jordynne Grace’s segment, as noted by Corey Brennan. While most talent were unaware, Ethan Page knew about Grace’s appearance in advance due. They reportedly had an encounter at Cezar Bononi’s house.

The possibility of more NXT and TNA crossovers remains open. Despite Scott D’Amore’s departure from TNA, which initially raised concerns about future collaborations, sources within TNA confirm that communication lines remain open. There is a lot more to unpack in this story, as WWE seemingly has their own Forbidden Door to open now.

WWE NXT Battleground will go down on June 9 from the UFC Apex outside Las Vegas. SEScoops will have complete coverage of the show, including the highly-promoted Women’s Title match.

Jordynne Grace Set To Challenge Roxanne Perez For NXT Women’s Title At Battleground

Roxanne Perez’s challenger for the NXT Women’s Title was a mystery, but nobody expected Jordynne Grace as her opponent.

During this week’s episode of NXT, Roxanne Perez took to the ring to deliver a heel promo. She praised herself before demanding that NXT General Manager Ava reveal her next challenger. Ava responded by making a surprise announcement that shocked everyone.

Jordynne Grace made her entrance, proudly carrying her TNA Knockouts Title on her shoulder. The fans in the NXT Arena erupted into “TNA” chants as she approached the ring. Once inside, Grace remarked about her Royal Rumble cameo, and then she turned her attention to the NXT Women’s Champion.

Grace confidently declared that she would become a double champion after NXT Battleground, challenging Perez for the NXT Women’s Title.

This announcement, combined with Sexyy Red’s hosting role and the unveiling of the new NXT Women’s North American Title, has set the stage for a historic event. NXT Battleground will take place on June 9 in the UFC Apex.

It was later announced that Jordynne will compete on NXT next week. She confronted Stevie Turner backstage during a segment later in the show, where the NXT newcomer was complaining about Grace’s title opportunity. This set up a match for the June 4 show.

Jordynne Grace’s husband, TNA star Jonathan Gresham, was apparently just as surprised as everyone else by her appearance. He just thought she was running to the store and would be right back.

SEScoops will provide complete coverage of NXT Battleground, and you can find the updated event card below.

  • Sol Ruca vs. Lash Legend vs. Fallon Henley vs. Jaida Parker vs. Michin vs Kelani Jordan (Ladder match for the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Championship)

Cora Jade Returns During NXT Live Event, Calls Out Roxanne Perez

NXT star Cora Jade recently made an appearance during an NXT Live Event and set her sights on the Women’s title.

Last night’s NXT Live Event emanated from the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce, FL. Cora Jade, who is recuperating from a torn ACL injury, made her return and delivered a promo. The 23-year-old rising wrestler revealed that she will be back in a matter of few months and called out the NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez.

The reigning NXT Women’s Champion noticed Jade’s message and took to her X account to respond. Perez said that she would be keeping the title “nice and warm” for Jade.

Cora Jade has had the top prize of the NXT Women’s division in her sights for a long time but the title has eluded her. After a 4-months hiatus, Jade made her comeback to WWE last year at NXT Deadline in December. She immediately revealed her intentions to capture the title. However, she had a terrible start to the new year as she suffered an injury during an untelevised show.

On the other hand, since winning the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver, Roxanne Perez has already defended her title against the likes of Natalya, former champ Lyra Valkyria, Tatum Paxley, and Chelsea Green.

A trilogy match?

Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade could lock horns soon

Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez have been NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions in the past. However, Jade betrayed Perez when she beat her down with her skateboard.

They went on to have matches at NXT Heatwave 2022 which Cora Jade won, while ‘The Prodigy’ emerged victorious at NXT Halloween Havoc 2022. It seems that the fans could be witnessing a trilogy fight down the road. NXT Heatwave 2024 is set to take place in July and there is a huge possibility that the show could feature the bout.

WWE NXT’s Roxanne Perez Can’t Retire Until She Has Her Dream Match with AJ Lee

WWE NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is focused on getting her dream match with AJ Lee before the gold-brand Superstar hangs up her boots.

Sitting down with Ring The Belle, Perez discussed her immense respect for Lee, a three-time WWE Divas Champion. The NXT star made clear that she’ll keep wrestling as long as she can in order to get a match with Mrs. CM Punk.

“Hopefully, one day, she’ll come back and maybe we can all do something together. That would be, that would be like my dream. I can’t retire until I have a match against AJ Lee.”

AJ Lee hasn’t wrestled since 2015 but the former Superstar hasn’t left the world of professional wrestling entirely. Lee joined WOW – Women of Wrestling in 2021 as an executive producer and commentator. In August 2023, Lee said she would be parting ways with WOW at the end of her contract.

Perez is hardly the only woman in wrestling to hold AJ Lee in high regard. Fellow NXT Superstar Cora Jade has called Lee an inspiration, especially her feud with Paige (now AEW’s Saraya.) Julia Hart told the Busted Open Radio podcast earlier this year that she looked up to Lee and Alexa Bliss before stepping into the ring herself.

Unsurprisingly, CM Punk has a high estimation of his wife and has said that he’d love to see Lee back in the world of wrestling and has brought her up on WWE TV since returning in November 2023. Lee is said to be well-liked and respected by those in WWE today, but a return was not something actively being discussed as of March 2024

Roxanne Perez Defeats Lyra Valkyria For NXT Women’s Title At Stand & Deliver

WWE has focused on this weekend for months now, and we are finally here. Roxanne Perez knew that she had to giver her all to walk out of Philly as champion, and she did just that.

Roxanne Perez battled Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Title at NXT Stand & Deliver. In the end, Perez won the title in front of a packed Wells Fargo Center crowd.

Roxanne Perez eventually latched on her crossface submission, and Lyra had no choice but to tap out after trying to get out multiple times.

Perez’s Road Back to the NXT Title

This marks Perez’s second reign as NXT Women’s Champion. She will start this reign as the company prepares to debut a new NXT Women’s North American Title as well. It will be interesting to see who steps up to face her next, and who vies for the new title.

Perez’s journey had its highs and lows. She entered her first Royal Rumble match on January 28, 2023 as NXT Women’s Champion. Then, at Vengeance Day, Perez successfully defended her title in a triple threat match against Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. She then beat Meiko Satomura at Roadblock, but collapsed after the match. She required medical attention and was written off television after that.

Perez declared her intent to defend her title at Stand & Deliver, however, she lost the title to Indi Hartwell in a ladder match at the event.

Following unsuccessful attempts to reclaim the title, including a triple threat match at Spring Breakin’, Perez entered the NXT Women’s Championship Tournament at Battleground. Despite defeating Jacy Jayne in the first round, she was defeated by Stratton in the semifinals.

The 22-year-old Prodigy was distracted from the title chase after that for a while, but she eventually turned back around to focus her eyes on gold once again.

Roxanne Perez’s road back to the NXT Women’s Title took over a year. Since her heel turn, she has showed a brand-new side for her character. Her heel promos have focused on how WWE paid more attention to Becky Lynch as champion instead of her.

Roxanne Perez’s Current Situation With Future WWE Main Roster Call-Up

WWE has many talented Superstars of tomorrow in NXT. The thought of Roxanne Perez becoming a big deal on the main roster only seems logical, but there is a process to everything.

Roxanne Perez is back in contention for the NXT Women’s Championship with a new heel persona. While fans clamor for her promotion to the main roster, conflicting opinions within NXT are present regarding the matter.

Current Main Roster Call-Up Situation For Perez

Roxanne Perez is #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship once again as she gears up to vie for the title at NXT Stand And Deliver this Friday against Lyra Valkyria. The big question is still out there about her main roster future.

Corey Brennan of Fightful Select has reported various insights within the company regarding Perez’s future within WWE. Amidst fan requests for her main roster call-up, it’s not that simple.

Brennan is told that Perez has impressed major officials in each of her main roster appearances and her callup was described as “only a matter of time.”

That being said, some in NXT would like to see Perez stick around on the brand for the time being to allow her to continue developing her new heel character, which is said to have blown away officials, with some pushing for a Perez title win at Friday’s Premium Live Event.

NXT insiders have refuted the notion that Perez is being slotted into Cora Jade’s former spot, clarifying that plans for Perez’s character arc were distinct from Jade’s circumstances.

Roxanne Perez on the WWE Main Roster So Far

The Prodigy has made notable appearances on the main roster already, particularly in two consecutive Royal Rumble matches in 2023 and 2024. She caught the eye of WWE officails with those appearances as well.

At 22-years-old, Roxanne Perez has plenty of time to make her way to the WWE main roster. They can’t rush the process, but it seems she may have something to take care of in NXT first. The result of her Stand & Deliver match will certainly shed more light on that.

SEScoops will have more on this story, and so much more. Keep checking back throughout the day for more headlines!

Roxanne Perez Explains Heel Turn During WWE NXT: “Screw You Guys For Booing Me”

The 2024 NXT Stand & Deliver event is scheduled to go down on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This marks the fourth annual Stand & Deliver event, and Shawn Michaels’ crew is putting a lot of work into the show. That show will likely see Roxanne Perez in a heel role.

Roxanne Perez turned heel last week in a surprising attack on Lyra Valkyria. On this week’s episode, she got to explain her actions.

Roxanne Perez Explains Herself

During this week’s NXT, they kicked off the show with a match that will determine the challengers for Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin’s NXT Tag Team Titles. After the LWO won that match, Roxanne Perez had a chance to cut a promo.

On last week’s WWE NXT, Roxanne Perez turned heel during the Roadblock special. This week, she got to explain herself.

She addressed collapsing in the ring at Roadblock 2023 after beating Meiko Satomura. She said she collapsed after carrying the women’s division on her shoulders for four months. Roxanne Perez was rewarded by having her title taken from her, “and no one cared.”

Perez said that she’s waited a year, while busting her ass the whole time, but she was never awarded a title match. Instead, Tiffany Stratton or Becky Lynch got the spotlight. Then she really turned her focus on The Man.

Roxanne said that she was face-to-face with Becky Lynch in the middle of an NXT ring and, “you guys acted like I didn’t even exist.” She then continued to blame the fans for going home crying that night, because of how everyone made her feel.

“Screw you guys for booing me and making me feel like I was worthless,” she continued, before saying she doesn’t care what fans think. Perez went on to say she’s the most decorated woman in NXT history, “I have won everything.”

That is when she turned her focus to Lyra Valkyria, because she never got a title shot with Lyra. When Roxanne went after the WWE Tag Team Titles at Roadblock, that is when she decided to do something about it.

Roxanne Perez’s Heel Turn

During the Roadblock edition of NXT, NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria was attacked by Roxanne Perez, who has turned heel. Perez injured Valkyria’s arm after Valkyria and Tatum Paxley failed to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships from The Kabuki Warriors. Following the attack, Valkyria was taken from the arena in an ambulance.

WWE NXT commentator Vic Joseph speculated that Valkyria may have a broken arm, as Valkyria believed her arm was dislocated. Valkyria expressed concern about her arm to medical staff inside the ring.

This incident suggests a potential match between Perez and Valkyria at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 6, just before WrestleMania 40 begins. While the match has not been officially announced, it could be in the coming weeks leading up to the event.

Lyra Valkyria Retains WWE NXT Women’s Title at Vengeance Day Despite Lola Vice Creating Impromptu Triple Threat

WWE NXT Vengeance Day took place on February 4, 2024, at the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee, marking the first NXT livestreaming event to be held in Tennessee. The event brought some notable moments, including a massive one for Roxanne Perez.

NXT Women’s Title Match at Vengeance Day

Lyra Valkyria defended the NXT Women’s Title against Roxanne Perez at Vengeance Day. This match had the Tennessee crowd on fire, but they didn’t know what to expect.

Lola Vice won the Women’s Breakout Tournament. With that win, she had a guaranteed contract for a title shot. Midway through Roxanne and Lyra’s match, right after Perez nailed Pop Rocks, Vice ran down to make this a triple threat match.

After the match carried on a bit more, Roxanne Perez nailed Pop Rocks again, but Tatum Paxley ran in and took her out of the ring. The pandemonium ended as Lyra nailed Night Witch on Lola Vice instead, and she secured the win to retain the NXT Women’s Title.

 What’s Next?

Lyra Valkyria is now on the road to defend her NXT Women’s Title at March 5th’s Roadblock event. Then Stand & Deliver is coming on April 6.

Her future opponents have not been determined yet, but odds are, they will address that in the coming weeks on NXT’s weekly USA Network television show.

Roxanne Perez Reveals What It Means To Secure NXT Women’s Title Shot

The rising NXT superstar Roxanne Perez has yet again secured a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship and has explained what it means to her.

‘The Prodigy’ is aiming to become a two-time NXT Women’s Champion when she takes on Lyra Valkyria at Vengeance Day next month. Though she had odds stacked against her, Perez outlasted 19 other women to earn a title.

Last night on NXT, Roxanne Perez competed in the 20-woman battle royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. She made it to the final four which turned into a four-way match as previously announced. The bout also consisted Kelani Jordan, Fallon Henley and Kiana James. and Perez eventually won the match.

Perez is quite confident on her quest to dethrone the NXT Women’s champion and reclaim the title.

Roxanne Perez: I’m The Prodigy, and you can’t break me

In a WWE NXT Exclusive, Roxanne Perez shared her thoughts on her triumph last night and reiterated that she’s the best woman in the locker room.

“What does it mean to me? I just stood in the ring with 19 other women and prevailed. It was me against the world tonight. But did I doubt myself? No. But I’m pretty sure every single person out there did, just like they have been for the past year. When I said that I’m the best damn woman in this locker room, I wasn’t lying. I’ll say it once, I’ll say it twice. I’ll say it a third time. I’m The Prodigy, and you can’t break me,” Perez said.

Roxanne’s last reign as champion lasted for 109 days. At last year’s NXT Stand & Deliver Perez dropped the title to Indi Hartwell in a ladder match which also involved Gigi Dolin, Zoey Stark, Tiffany Stratton, and Lyra Valkyria.

On next week’s edition of NXT, Perez and Valkyria are set to have a contract-signing segment for the title match.

We will have to wait and see if Roxanne Perez manages to dethrone Lyra Valkyria at Vengeance Day which takes place on February 4 at the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee.

NXT’s Roxanne Perez to Make Indie Appearance for Reality of Wrestling

Roxanne Perez has made her name as part of WWE NXT for some time now, but The Prodigy will soon make an appearance for Reality of Wrestling.

On Twitter, the official ROW account announced that Perez will be coming “home” for the upcoming ‘One Night Only’ event. The show will take place in Texas City, Texas, on January 13, 2024.

Roxanne Perez and ROW

It’s fitting that Perez will be at the upcoming Reality of Wrestling show given her history with the promotion. After training under Booker T, Perez made her in-ring debut for the Texan legend’s Reality of Wrestling promotion in December 2018. As Rok-C, Perez is a former ROW Diamonds Division Champion. Booker has often referred to his personal connection to Perez on WWE NXT as the two-time Hall of Famer serves as a commentator for the gold brand.

Reality of Wrestling & WWE NXT.

Roxanne Perez isn’t the only notable name to be associated with Booker T’s promotion. In February, ROW reached a partnership with WWE NXT that has seen gold brand performers add some star power to shows. Ivy Nile, who was an NXT Superstar at the time, appeared at an event later that same month. In July, Trick Williams appeared for Reality of Wrestling. In September, fans attending ROW’s The Next Chapter show got two appearances for the price of one as NXT’s Charlie Dempsey and Axiom both competed on the show.

Roxanne Perez Reveals How Mandy Rose Reacted To Her Title Win

Roxanne Perez has revealed how Mandy Rose reacted to finding out that she’d be dropping the NXT Women’s Title to her.

Last month, Perez shocked fans when she pulled off a surprise win over Mandy Rose on an episode of NXT to capture the NXT Women’s Title. However, shortly after, Rose was released from the company.

It was alter determined that Rose was let go after releasing explicit content on her subscription fan page. Perez recently spoke to Faction 919 about the entire ordeal, and what it was like working with Rose in her final match with the company.

“For her to be such a good human being, I was always so grateful for her. In a way, I was a little sad, because of the way it was happening, but she was so supportive and being like, ‘You deserve this.’ It made it so much more special.

“To have Booker T, my trainer, on commentary. My boyfriend was also there as well, he was a big part of my training and me becoming a wrestler. To have them there and when they gave me the championship, holding it in my hands, it didn’t feel real until that moment.

“Everything I went through, all the trials and tribulations, the ups and downs of this wrestling journey that I’ve been on since I was 13, all those moments were so worth it. It was finally real and it finally happened. It was crazy.”

Perez noted that Rose was actually supportive of her throughout the title win, telling her she deserves it.

Perez is in the midst of her first title reign as NXT Women’s Champion. She only signed with the company last March and is already a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Cora Jade.

The induction of Wheeler Yuta into the Blackpool Combat Club was a fantastic creative decision earlier this year, and a lesson on how to make a new name with established stars.

This time last year, sure, some wrestling fans would be aware of Yuta, but it his inclusion with the BCC that has turned him into one of the most exciting prospects in all of wrestling.

4: Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker NXT Champion
Reports of WWE wanting to fast-track Breakker to the main roster come as no surprise.

Our reigning NXT Champion, it’s incredible to think that Bron Breakker has only been with WWE for slightly over a year.

In such a small amount of time, Breakker has become one of the biggest stars the gold brand has ever produced, thanks in part to his family connections as a Steiner.

But Bron isn’t just a tribute act to his father and brother, and has shown endless ability and charisma, so it’s hardly surprising that we see reports of WWE wanting to fast-track him to the main roster.

3: Hook

Hook
Originally a meme among wrestling fans, Hook has become one of the most promising future stars in AEW (Scott Lesh Photography)

What started off as a meme among fans, Hook has become one of the most popular names in AEW, all without having to do much.

The 23-year-old FTW Champion, Hook’s presence screams ‘star’ and his ability in the ring (complete with suplexes inspired by his father Taz) have only added to his starpower.

In short, Hook has all the tools to be a top name in wrestling, and when you consider his young age, the second-generation wrestler has oodles of time to make that goal happen.

2: Roxanne Perez

Roxanne Perez started this year as ROH Women’s World Champion and will likely end as WWE NXT Women’s Champion.

Roxanne Perez started this year as the first-ever ROH Women’s World Champion, and short of a monumental upset, will end it as the WWE NXT Women’s Champion.

Throw in a reign as NXT Women’s Tag Champion, Perez is proving herself each week, not just as a star of today, but as a top babyface for years down the line.

The 21-year-old former Rok-C is a babyface that fans naturally want to cheer (something that is a slight rarity in these modern times) and expect many more accolades, titles and moments in her future.

1: Logan Paul

Roman Reigns Logan Paul WWE Crown Jewel
Logan Paul has won over even his harshest of critics with his three WWE matches this year.

Logan Paul was once society’s public enemy number one, but it’s safe to say that he has found something of a home in WWE.

After a mixed response to his WWE debut last year, Paul stepped into the ring as a wrestler for the first time at WrestleMania 38, and exceeded expectations.

Paul’s impressive WrestleMania outing has been followed up with more impressive performances at Summerslam and Crown Jewel, and the Maverick has won over even his harshest of critics.

Rumors of Paul’s imminent return aren’t being met with disgust or outrage, but rather excitement and intrigue, as the YouTuber has proven he belongs in professional wrestling.

Roxanne Perez Reacts to Winning NXT Women’s Championship: “Everything Was Worth It”

Roxanne Perez earned a title shot by winning the inaugural Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge this past Saturday night at NXT Deadline.

At the beginning of this week’s NXT, Mandy Rose hit Roxanne Perez with the NXT Women’s Championship. Perez demanded her title shot in the main event of NXT.

Mandy connected with the Kiss From a Rose but somehow Perez kicked out at two. Perez then connected with Pop Rox for the pinfall victory and captured the NXT Women’s Championship. Mandy Rose’s reign as NXT Women’s Champion lasted an impressive 413 days.

Roxanne Perez Reacts to Winning the NXT Women’s Championship

After winning the NXT Women’s Championship from Mandy Rose in the main event, the 22-year-old was interviewed backstage. Roxanne said that she started wrestling when she was 14-years-old and everything she has gone through to get to WWE was worth it.

2016 is the year I started wrestling, I was 14-years-old and that was the day I said I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that I get to WWE.

No matter what it takes, I am going to get there. My whole life revolved around wrestling, up until now.

Everything I did, literally every single thing I did was to be here and for this championship.

I’m sure you saw that I just broke down into tears out there but everything was worth it. All the trials and tribulations, the ups and the downs, every single thing was so worth it.

And this is proof to every little girl out there that no matter what you tell yourself, no matter what doubts there are in your mind. It can happen.

Roxanne Perez Wins WWE NXT Women’s Title (Video)

Roxanne Perez was the person to dethrone Mandy Rose as the WWE NXT Women’s Champion.

The Match

At the start of Tuesday’s NXT episode, Rose attacked Perez from behind. This led to Perez challenging her to a title match on this show instead in the main event with Rose accepting.

The back-and-forth match ended after Perez kicked out of Rose’s finisher and rolled up Rose for the win.

Rose defeated Gonzalez to win the NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc last year with the help of Dakota Kai.  Rose became the unified champion at NXT Worlds Collide when she beat NXT UK Champion Meiko Satomura and Blair Davenport in a triple threat match.

WWE to Feature More Crossover Between Brands Going Forward

The WWE Universe will be seeing Superstars on Raw, SmackDown and NXT make more appearances on other shows moving forward.

In 2016, WWE reintroduced its brand extension, splitting the WWE’s main roster into distinct brands for Raw and SmackDown once more.

Crossover

WWE Superstars appearing on a show they’re not rostered for does happen and is set to increase in the coming weeks.

Sources who spoke to Fightful Select said that fans can expect more crossover between brands.

No reason was given as to why there will be more crossover, though it is believed that using Superstars from other brands will help increase viewership.

This week’s Raw saw appearances by The Bloodline, all of whom are SmackDown rostered Superstars.

Jade and Perez

This crossover will be felt next week in WWE NXT as part of the feud between former NXT Women’s Tag Champions Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez.

On last night’s episode, it was confirmed that Jade and Perez will choose members of the WWE main roster to face each other on next week’s show.

Jade asked interviewer McKenzie Mitchell if she has the number of Ronda Rousey, while Perez will be on this Friday’s WWE SmackDown on FOX.

WWE Main Event

One way NXT Superstars are getting exposure on the main roster is by appearances on WWE Main Event.

In their report, Fightful adds that more NXT Superstars are expected to be on the show, with WWE watching to see how ready they are for a full-time transition.

On last week’s WWE Main Event, Fallon Henley made her main roster debut by taking on WWE 24/ Champion Dana Brooke.

Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen, former NXT UK Tag Team Champions, also appeared on last week’s show, facing Shelton Benjamin and R-Truth.

More NXT Superstars will appear on this week’s episode of WWE Main Event.

Alundra Blayze Returns on NXT, New Women’s Tag Champs to be Crowned

Earlier this month, Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez captured the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships, but their reign was short-lived.

The next week, Perez was attacked at the start of NXT 2.0, ahead of her NXT Women’s Championship match with Mandy Rose.

It was later revealed that Jade had betrayed her tag-team partner, attempting to take her out of the running so she could face Rose instead.

During last week’s show, Jade threw her NXT Women’s Tag Team Title in the trash, signifying the end of the team.

Blayze’s Surprise Appearance

One person who knows all about throwing titles in the trash is WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze.

During last night’s NXT 2.0, Perez was seen with her NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and was furious at Jade’s actions given the work they’d done to win the titles.

That’s when Blayze appeared and revealed that a Tag Team Elimination Match will take place next week and that the winners will be crowned the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Blayze didn’t confirm any teams for the match, but Kayden Carter and Katana Collins were featured in a backstage segment along with Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley.

The two teams brawled and it was revealed that Toxic Attraction and Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz will also be competing.

Blayze’s history

It was in 1995, after leaving the WWF for WCW while still the former’s Women’s Champion, that Blayze infamously threw the title in a trashcan.

It has since been explained that Blayze wasn’t comfortable with the action, but was made to do so by Eric Bischoff.

Due to the action, Blayze was blacklisted from WWE for years before returning to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.

NXT Champion Turns on Partner, Officially Goes Heel

An NXT star has turned over to the dark side.

The July 12 episode of NXT didn’t end on a happy note. The main event featured an NXT Women’s Championship match between titleholder Mandy Rose and Roxanne Perez.

Perez was accompanied to the ring by Cora Jade. Perez thought she could trust her good friend and tag team partner.

After all, they currently hold the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles. Jealousy eventually won out, however.

Cora Jade Turns on Roxanne Perez

With the referee distracted during the title match, Jade took her tag title and nailed Perez in the injured ribs. Mandy Rose capitalized and pinned Perez to successfully retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

Perez had been selling the injured ribs as she was attacked in the infamous NXT parking lot earlier in the night.

It had been reported that WWE was planning on turning Cora Jade heel ahead of the recent NXT episode.

The news came as a surprise to many as Jade comes across as a natural babyface. Time will tell if she can find her groove as a rotten apple.

After the match, Cora attacked Perez with her skateboard and even broke it in half.

Major NXT Championship Changes Hands at The Great American Bash

Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez are the new WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions as they dethroned Toxic Attraction (Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin).

In the opening match of Tuesday’s special edition of WWE NXT Great American Bash, the bout opened the show and went back and forth. NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose got involved as she pulled the referee out of the ring when the challengers were going for a pin attempt, so she got thrown out.

Moments later, Perez hit her pop rocks finisher on Jayne for the win, marking the first time Jade and Perez held gold in NXT.

Dolin and Jayne had been in their second reign as Tag Team Champions. Their first reign started last October when they defeated Io Shirai & Zoey Stark and, Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta in a triple threat Scareway to Hell ladder match to win the titles.

Although they later lost the titles to Dakota Kai and Raquel González at Stand & Deliver this past April, WWE had them win the titles back three nights later.

WWE Title Match Added to Upcoming Event

A WWE championship match has been added to a card set for early July.

The wrestling industry is no stranger to big title matches. WWE has plenty of gold, which means title matches are easy to come by.

There are also three brands under the WWE banner, all of which are on TV networks so there are championships galore.

This latest title match announcement is for NXT.

NXT Women’s Tag Titles On The Line

During the June 28 episode of NXT 2.0, new NXT Women’s Tag Team Title contenders were determined. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter to earn a title opportunity.

They will meet the current title holders, Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) at NXT Great American Bash on July 5.

Dolin and Jayne are in their second run as the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. They’ve held the gold since April.

NXT Great American Bash will be held inside the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Check back on the SEScoops homepage for coverage of the event.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett Compares WWE NXT 2.0 Superstar To Becky Lynch

Former WWE Superstar Maria Kanellis-Bennett has praised newly-signed talent Roxanne Perez, comparing her to Becky Lynch.

Perez, previously known as Rok-C, officially signed with WWE in March 2020, and is a former Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.

Speaking to the Bleav in Pro Wrestling Podcast, Kanellis-Bennett said that Perez shares a lot of similarities with the former Raw Women’s Champion:

“I hesitate to say this because I don’t like anybody comparing anybody to anyone else, but the ability that you have in Becky Lynch, you have in Roxanne. I think that is only going to continue to grow. Of course, she’s still got things she has to work on but I think at some point, Roxanne will be on the same level as Becky.

“She has the technique down. She has the story, she has the heart. She used to ride the bus to go to wrestling training before she could drive a car or anything like that. She rode a bus so she could go to training.”

Roxanne Perez’s ROH Women’s World title win came when Kanellis-Bennett had a backstage role with Ring of Honor’s Women’s division.

Perez made her WWE in-ring debut on the April 12, 2022, episode of NXT LVL UP, defeating Sloane Jacobs.

In her most recent match, she faced NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose in a losing effort

Kanellis-Bennett recently announced the start of her own all-female promotion ‘Women’s Wrestling Army.’

Roxanne Perez Reacts to “Fever Dream” WWE TV Debut

Roxanne Perez made a successful WWE television debut on Tuesday’s edition of NXT.

Just days after picking up a win on NXT Level Up last week, Perez is now working a program with Toxic Attraction.

A vignette aired on NXT that highlighted Perez growing up as a WWE fan. She’s watch WWE programming and play WWE video games to escape feeling like an outcast at school.

Perez was initially scheduled to debut next week, but she was confronted by Toxic Attraction (NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin). The heels attempted to intimidate Perez and told her to keep her expectations in check.

Perez wrestled Jacy Jayne and got a surprise win. The finish came after Wendy Choo was shown on the big screen destroying the Toxic Lounge. Perez used the distraction to her Code Red finisher on Jayne for the win.

Backstage after the match, Perez said wrestling in WWE is a dream come true. She’s been working for this goal since she was 13 years old and showed off a tattoo that marked the date of her first match.

“I had my first win in my debut for WWE NXT, and it feels so crazy to say that,” she said. “Because like I said, I’ve wanted this my entire life. This is all I’ve ever dreamed of, and now it’s real.”

She also tweeted that winning her NXT TV debut was like a fever dream. She received congratulatory messages from several people including WWE’s Senior Director of Content & Development Jeremy Borash.
