Daniel Bryan Explains Royal Rumble Absence, Says WWE Is Holding Him Down

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan posted a pair of interesting tweets on his official Twitter account following Sunday’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Bryan tweeted:

  • Hulk Hogan/WWE Return *SPOILER*, New WMXXX Plans REVEALED! **CLICK HERE**
  • Mick Foley Posts Lengthy Blog Criticizing WWE Royal Rumble PPV

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley posted the following blog sharing his feelings on the WWE’s booking of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Sunday night.

    HEY WWE….WHAT THE F?

Yes, I’m going to put a brick through my TV. It’s just going to have to wait until tomorrow. I had every intention of putting a brick through my TV tonight, after seeing that Daniel Bryan was not even entered in the Royal Rumble match, let alone going to win the thing. But, upon seeing their dad with a brick in his hand, my younger children got a little bit scared, thinking their dad had lost his mind. A rather spirited debate about the wisdom of following through on the promise to put a brick through my TV ensued with my wife – and, as is usually the case in marital debates, I, being the husband, did not emerge victorious. Honestly, the points she made about mercury and glass fragments everywhere were pretty good ones.

But I’m still going to put a brick through my TV. It’s just going to have to wait until tomorrow – when the kids are in school, and I can take the TV outside the house for the actual throwing of the brick. Granted, it’s not nearly as dramatic as doing it live, right after the Rumble, but at least I will be keeping my word.

As I mentioned on Twitter, I’ve never felt so disgusted at the conclusion of a WWE (or any) PPV. Like many of you out there, I just don’t get it. This Daniel Bryan thing is a phenomenon. You get it. I get it. The fans in Pittsburgh (yes, I was thinking of writing “RIGHT TH…but I’m just not in a cheap pop mood) got it. But tonight, for the first time, I had to admit to myself that the powers that be are just not going to get it. And that makes me sad. I’m just honestly sad, just flat out fucking sad (yes, I dropped an F-bomb there to emphasize how F’ing sad I am for the guys who bust their butts night in and night out – Ziggler, Punk, Bryan, etc – with no hope of getting their shot at this year’s Mania.

You know who else I’m sad for? Me. In my two years as an official WWE Ambassador, I never once had to lie about my enthusiasm for the company or the product. Now, although I am no longer officially an Ambassador for WWE (believe it or not, my only official role in WWE is as GM for Saturday Morning Slam, a contract that ends in one month) I was till looking forward to being part of the biggest event of the year. I’ll probably end up going anyway. But I’m about 1/6th as excited about it as I was just a few hours ago. I wanted so badly to hear 75,000 WWE fans chanting “YES” – and seeing fans walk away absolutely ecstatic about the outcome of a PPV for the first time in a while…a long while. But when given the chance to make it happen (unless they’ve got something MAJOR up their sleeve) WWE’s answer tonight was a resounding “NO, NO, NO”

  • Jim Ross Blog: WWE Royal Rumble Thoughts And Predictions

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts & predictions for tonight’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view:

Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt: “I’ve got Daniel Bryan beating Bray Wyatt but if it goes the other way I won’t be shocked. I can see an argument made for each participant to win in this match. As a matter of fact, the more I think about it, the more I see Wyatt grinding out a physical victory. It’s official…Bray Wyatt will be the winner vs. Daniel Bryan.”

Lesnar vs. Big Show: “Part time superstar and full time badass Brock Lesnar has to get on a roll to monetize his obvious upside so I’ve got Lesnar beating Big Show. Brock using a fan favorite finisher, the ‘F5,’ on the near 500 pounder would be impressive. Something tells me that if Lesnar wasn’t aligned with the masterful Paul Heyman that the former Golden Gopher would be a MAJOR fan favorite in WWE. What is there to detest? Exactly….Heyman! (That’s a compliment by the way.)”

Randy Orton vs. John Cena: “Randy Orton will retain his WWE World Title with a victory or a non finish decision over John Cena. I’d be very surprised if Orton leaves Pittsburgh without the championship. One thing about this matchup is that these two have had multiple opportunities to develop chemistry. This match should be very good.”

CM Punk Entering at #1: “It would be a great story for #1 entrant CM Punk to go door to door and win the Rumble match but wait, doesn’t that also apply to the #2 entrant? Punk’s issues are seemingly with the authority figures within WWE which usually end up biting a fan favorite like Punk in the backside. Just remember back to many of the predicaments that Stone Cold Steve Austin found himself in back in the day with ‘authority figures.'”

The Rumble Match & His Prediction For The Winner: “Throughout the Rumble match, talents will be provided specific opportunities to make themselves stand out and become more marketable thus making them more valuable to their employer. At no time of the PPV year does ‘maximize one’s minutes’ ever hold more true. If, for example, Roman Reigns eliminates a dozen men, which would be one more than Kane’s record of 11, then Reigns can notch his gun even if he doesn’t win the Royal Rumble. Big E Langston is another young talent to keep an eye on tonight.”

“Like many others, I’ve got Batista winning the Rumble match especially if he enters at #20 or above.”

Daniel Bryan Warns Bray Wyatt, Ricardo Rodriguez’s Role At Royal Rumble

    – Former on-air WWE personality Ricardo Rodriguez will be handling the Spanish commentary for tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble broadcast.

    – Daniel Bryan tweeted the following regarding his match against Bray Wyatt at tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view:

  • Update On Hulk Hogan’s WWE Return, Hogan At Royal Rumble?, More

At this point, Hulk Hogan is basically confirmed for an appearance of some kind at WrestleMania XXX. In fact, there are some who believe it’s even possible that Hogan will return at the Royal Rumble tonight. Nothing is official, but there is talk that it’s at least possible.

As previously reported, Hogan was examined by WWE doctors and afterwards the decision was made not to allow Hogan to get involved in any physical capacity. Not only is Hogan unable to work an actual match, but it’s being said that he isn’t even permitted to throw punches, let alone have someone run into a big boot, and especially no leg drops.

  • Mick Foley To ‘Throw A Brick Through His TV’ If Daniel Bryan Doesn’t Win The Royal Rumble

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has posted a new blog on Facebook and gave his thoughts on tonight’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Foley says he’s hoping for a surprise appearance from Jake Roberts and purchased a ‘nice, new, red brick’ that he plans to throw at his television if Daniel Bryan doesn’t win the Rumble. Here’s what he wrote:

    WHO’S READY TO RUMBLE?

With the exception of Mania, this is the most wonderful day of the year for this wrestling fan. The Rumble match ALWAYS delivers – with plenty of drama, some humorous moments, and a couple of crowd-pleasing surprises each year. Like many of you, I’m hoping for an entry from Jake the Snake this year.

This year’s Rumble takes on an added dimension however. This year’s winner doesn’t get to choose his opponent, and become a participant in ONE of the main event matches at Wrestlemania; he becomes a participant in THE main event at Wrestlemania.

There is another added dimension to this year’s Rumble as well. In no other year that I can remember has there been such a groundswell of good-will towards one particular participant. I still have that brick – that nice, new, red brick – I purchased just for the Rumble (it’s right here beside me) and if DANIEL BRYAN doesn’t win this Rumble, I’m going to take that nice, new, red brick…and throw it through my television set.

I don’t expect you guys to take out your frustration on an innocent television set, but I do think there will be an AWFUL lot of AWFULLY disappointed WWE fans leaving the building tonight in Pittsburgh, and turning off their televisions around the world.

I like my TV. Here’s hoping that the nice, new, red brick I bought will never need to serve its purpose.

Seth Rollins Speaks On The Shield Breaking Up, Hogan & Warrior Returns, Rumble

The following are highlights of a recent Digital Spy interview with WWE Superstar Seth Rollins:

On whether or not the Royal Rumble will cause The Shield to part ways: “I don’t think so. It’s every man for himself but there’s 27 other guys in there that need to get out of that ring before we figure out which one of the three of us is the best. I would be worried for the 27 other dudes who are gonna be having to deal with hopefully the three of us in the ring at the same time. No-one has gotten away from that the whole year. Not The Rock, not The Undertaker, not John Cena. When there’s three of us in the ring at the same time, it’s disaster for anybody else.”

On the rumors that Hulk Hogan is returning to WWE: “I mean hey, he’s a legend, if he comes back in the WWE that’d be great for us just to have him around. He’s an icon in the history of our business. But, if he steps in our way, he could end up getting triple-powerbombed too.”

On whether or not WWE’s tag-team division is as exciting as it’s been in a long time: “I would say so. We went through, as a company, a good chunk of time there where tag team wrestling just fell off. Then Bryan and Kane [as Team Hell No] had the tag titles for a long period of time. We took them from them, which really is a great honor, because they really brought ’em back to really meaning something. I think myself and Roman Reigns, even Dean Ambrose with him to an extent, we took tag wrestling in a different direction in the WWE. We showed people what it could be.”

“I love tag team wrestling. I’ve loved it my whole life. A lot of my favorite teams – The Rockers [Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty], Legion of Doom [Michael ‘Hawk’ Hegstrand and Joseph ‘Animal’ Laurinaitis], The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express [Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson], Midnight Express [Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey].”

“The excitement with all the guys in the match. There’s so much more you can do with four bodies in the rules of a tag team match than two guys in a singles match. It’s just a completely different thing. I think we just took it to another level. I felt the writing on the wall with what we can do, and there were a lot of guys in the tag division who were on board. And once we stepped up our game everybody else had to measure up. That was a cool thing.”

On The Ultimate Warrior returning to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame: “I can’t wait for his speech! I hope I’m there, I can’t wait. That’s just going to be immense. I don’t know what they’re going to do with that. If you’re not there live, then wait for the DVD, because they’re going to have to edit that thing for a Hall of Fame special for sure! To have him back is really cool because he’s an icon in our business and the history of our business. He was like a whisper in the wind. Like a firecracker – a few years, BOOM! blew up and then gone. To have him back, doing his thing with us is pretty cool. He was one of my favorites growing up.”

*Spoiler* Potential Royal Rumble Surprise Entrant Revealed

Former WWE Champion Kevin Nash has checked into the hotel where the WWE crew is staying in Pittsburgh, PA for Sunday night’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Nash hosted a “Royal Rumble Party” on Saturday night and is rumored to be one of the surprise entrants in the Rumble match.

As reported earlier this week, Nash posted a photo of himself on Twitter with his hair and goatee dyed black. He claimed it was for an upcoming TV pilot he was filming, but it appears we could see another surprise Rumble appearance from Diesel.

Jim Ross Blog: Royal Rumble Winner, Physical WWE Hall Of Fame Building

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Batista’s Role At The Royal Rumble: “Still leaning on Batista, who I’m predicting will enter after #20, winning he Rumble which would set up a WWE World Title Bout vs. Randy Orton at WM30 as I see Orton winning Sunday in Pittsburgh vs John Cena with an obligatory helping of controversy.”

Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show: “Don’t see Lesnar losing to Big Show at the Rumble. It’s feeling more and more like it could be a Lesnar vs. Undertaker showdown at WM30 in NOLA but all that could change with one major signing or via the use of the most powerful weapon in the business….an eraser.”

CM Punk Entering At #1: “I’d love to see CM Punk go coast to coast while entering #1 in the Rumble match and win it all in Pitt but that’s a legit, long shot. I could see Punk lasting a abnormally long length of time before being tossed over the top rop…perhaps by Batista himself or Punk could run a foul of the Shield again.”

Dainel Bryan’s Popularity: “I’m still of the belief that Daniel Bryan is the most popular performer on the WWE roster these days but my opinion and a couple of bucks will buy you a few bottle of JR’s BBQ Sauce, too.”

Physical Hall Of Fame Building: “According to the New York Post, NBC Universal is allegedly attempting to sweeten the TV rights deal in which they are currently negotiating with WWE. Allegedly, NBC Universal is offering to house a bricks and mortar WWE Hall of Fame at Universal in Orlando. Orlando would be a great spot for the WWE HOF considering that WWE does a ample business in Orlando including the WWE Performance Center and the NXT tapings at Full Sail University.”

Ryback Interview: Offended By Batista’s Return, Surprise Rumble Entrants & More

WWE Superstar Ryback to DirecTV.com this week to promote Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Batista’s WWE Return: “I’m offended that he’s back. I’m the one and only “Big Guy” in the WWE. I go out there each and every night. I work the full schedule. I do all the cool power moves that you don’t see anybody doing anymore. I go out there and wrestle for 30 minutes, which you don’t see a lot of 295 lb. guys doing. I take a lot of pride in being big and having a lot of endurance and doing things that not everyone can do. So Batista is back, and it’s cool from a fan’s point of view, and I know he has some lofty goals, but this is my time now. I’m not taking a backseat to anyone. So if we end up in the ring together, it would give me great pleasure to throw him right over the top rope.”

Which Surprise Royal Rumble Entrants He Wants To See: “I’m sure a lot of people would love to see Goldberg show up and spear me right over the top rope. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen. But I also heard Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts mention that he wanted to be in the Royal Rumble. Obviously, from watching him as a kid, it would be pretty cool to be in the ring and hear that music hit. Or someone like Hulk Hogan would be pretty surreal. But I wouldn’t hesitate to throw either one of them over the top rope. My main thing is going out there and winning it.”

His Dream Tag Team Partner: “There’s so many, but I’d love to be able to tag with Triple H, and not just because he’s my boss. Just from the conversations we’ve had, he’s on a whole other level. We don’t have too many guys like that left – guys like Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart. Or a guy like Christian, who I’m looking forward to coming back. There’s so much knowledge in his brain. He’s wrestled all the greats – Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, guys like that. And I really wish Edge were still here. It killed me when I was out injured and he ended up having that final match with Alberto Del Rio. He was there while I was with the Nexus and he was just such a joy to be around. He’s a good human being and just knew so much. He was always helping. Its guys like that that I wish were around still. But yeah, off the top of my head, Triple H would be pretty cool.”

He also talked about his favorite Royal Rumble memories, his experience at NXT and more.

Daniel Bryan Comments On Not Being Booked For The Royal Rumble Match

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan was interviewed by StraitsTimes.com and spoke about a number of topics, including the fact that he is not currently scheduled to participate in Sunday’s 30-man Royal Rumble match. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

    His Yes Chant:

“It’s happening all over the world and it’s really cool. I think this is the biggest reason for my success.  The coolest thing is how the fans have gotten behind me. How they’ve joined the ‘Yes’ movement. It’s just been crazy. People will just break out in chants at any given time during a show and they do it all around the world. I love what I do and what I do is fun. I’m very confident in my ability to go out there and perform.”

Not Being Booked For The Royal Rumble Match:

“As of now, I’m not in the 30-man Royal Rumble match, I’m trying to get involved in it. (WWE) COO Triple H doesn’t want me anywhere in the Royal Rumble match.”

Getting Over Without WWE’s Full Support:

“The company doesn’t neccesarily want somebody like me at the top. I’m not what they think a WWE superstar should look like, but because the WWE fans have been so loud and vocal in their support of me, they kind of had to put me at the top of the card because people want to see it,” he noted proudly. I’m just thankful every day for how awesome my fans have been.”

Video: CM Punk Talks About His Contract Expiring, Bryan’s Popularity, Becoming An MMA Fighter & More

WWE Superstar CM Punk was interviewed by Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting this week and spoke about the following topics:

    – Attending this weekend’s UFC live event from Chicago

What Happened After SmackDown Tapings, Former Superstar Teases Rumble Appearance

    – SEScoops.com reader Mike Van Wormer II sent in the following live report of what happened after Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown tapings went off the air:

I was at the SmackDown tapings tonight in Grand Rapids and if you want to add something to it, the post-show match saw CM Punk take on Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins in a 2-on-1 handicap match. Roman Reigns attempted to interfere, but CM Punk beat the odds to send the crowd home happy.

Jim Ross Blog: Batista’s Return, Daniel Bryan, Cena vs. Orton, More

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Batista’s Return: “Good to See Batista back as Dave physically looked great and got a welcoming reaction back to the show. Batista is my favorite to win the Rumble Match this Sunday in Pittsburgh on PPV. One could assume that a major talent like Batista will have a huge role in NOLA at WM30.”

Daniel Bryan: “It seemed as if Daniel Bryan could have had a higher profile role on RAW based on how RAW left the air last week.”

Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar: “Impressed that Big Show was able to GUTWRENCH Lesnar over the top rope. Felt like a bigger moment at home than on TV. Impressive.”

John Cena vs. Randy Orton: “It’s obvious that the Cena vs. Orton WWE World Title bout is the primary focus of the Royal Rumble PPV this Sunday. Would loved to have seen Orton make a clean, non contact, getaway on RAW. I’d assume WWE will end with the Rumble match but make no mistake about it the focus of the show is on the WWE World Title….not that’s a bad thing.”
