Ronda Rousey Fires Back at Report That She’s Leaving WWE Soon

Ronda Rousey is keeping her private life private and that includes any plans she might have for starting a family with her husband Travis Browne.

The reigning WWE RAW women’s champion fired back at a report that surfaced earlier this week from the Wrestling Observer that suggested Rousey could be leaving WWE after a year with the company with plans to start a family in the very near future.

Additional reports stated that Rousey could stick around WWE after WrestleMania but work a drastically reduced schedule similar to other part-time superstars like The Undertaker or John Cena.

It’s no secret that Rousey has said numerous times in the past that she wanted to have children with her husband but she’s not going to talk to anybody about the timing of when that will happen.

Rousey fired back at that report with a statement released through ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne, who is a regular collaborator with the former UFC women’s champion.

“I honestly don’t know why [anyone] feels like [they’re] an authority to speak on the plans for my uterus,” Rousey said. “If I responded every single time the world speculated what I was doing with my womb I would not have a free moment in the day.

“I really don’t feel like I should have to respond to that kind of thing. It’s my vagina, my life, keep the speculations to yourself. Leave me and my reproductive organs alone.”

Obviously Rousey didn’t flat out deny that she might be leaving WWE or possibly working a reduced scheduled after WrestleMania but she certainly isn’t going to justify rumors based around her private life.

It’s worth noting that Rousey has spoken (extensively) about her plans to start a family. Back in 2015, she told Fox Sports, “I’m an ovarian goldmine. I can’t waste these genes.” Last year, she told ESPN, “[Husband Travis Browne and I] had a set timeline set, and now we aren’t so sure about it because I love [WWE] so much,” she said. “I guess that’s the best thing that could’ve happened, that I would love it so much it would be so hard to stop.”

Rousey is scheduled to defend her RAW women’s title this Sunday at the Royal Rumble where she takes on Sasha Banks in one of the featured bouts on the card.

There are high expectations for Rousey to take part in one of the main matches at WrestleMania 35 including a potential and long awaited showdown with Smackdown women’s superstar Becky Lynch.

What Rousey’s plans are after WrestleMania remain a mystery but if she’s taking time off to start a family, she made it clear that she’ll be the one to make that announcement and no one else.

“I’ve not kept it a secret that I would definitely want to start a family,” Rousey said. “But how do you go about doing that? I love this way more than I thought that I would. So do you just keep going until you just happen to get pregnant? Or should you stop and go try and get pregnant? Or is going and trying to get pregnant putting yourself on the spot and then you’re less likely to get pregnant? I’ve never had a baby before, I don’t know these kinds of things.

“It would be kind of cool to just keep acting and then one day, ‘Hey, surprise twist, I’m pregnant.’ That would be fun. There’s a lot of things up in the air. A lot of decisions that we’ve gotta make as a family. I’m trying to figure it out as I go along.”

WWE Royal Rumble: First Look Inside Chase Field (Photos)

WWE presents the 32nd Royal Rumble event this Sunday from Phoenix, Arizona at Chase Field. It will be the first time since WrestleMania XIX (2003) that a WWE pay-per-view is held at a baseball stadium.

Since the Royal Rumble weekend is now upon us, photos from inside the venue are starting to surface online. Chase Field can accommodate over 43,000 people, but current ticket sales indicate around 30,000 are expected for the Rumble. It’s set to be a historic weekend that will jumpstart the road to WrestleMania 35.

SEScoops will have non-stop news coverage all weekend leading up to the Royal Rumble. Make sure to check out our official Royal Rumble predictions and join us here Sunday night for WWE Royal Rumble Live Coverage results.

Reason Why WWE Promoted John Cena For Royal Rumble

John Cena came back a few weeks ago in order to announce himself as an entrant into the Royal Rumble match. He recently had an opportunity to win a chance against WWE Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar. Cena would lose in the Fatal 4-Way to Finn Balor.

After the matchup, WWE revealed that Cena actually suffered a storyline injury. He was seen limping before heading to the back. They then claim he has since re-aggravated an injury during a training session. This series of events has threatened his chances at appearing in the 30 man Royal Rumble event.

But with the rumor that Cena will instead be preparing to film a new movie, why would WWE bring Cena back, build him up, only to remove him days before the Rumble itself?

According to Dave Meltzer, their reasoning is identical to the recent Braun Strowman/Brock Lesnar debacle: sell tickets.

“The story going around is that Cena was never to be in the Rumble in the first place, but with a stadium to fill, they advertised Cena — similar to advertising Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman, another match never actually planned — to help sell tickets.”

Meltzer made a point that Chase Field has been configured to fit approximately 43,000 people. At this time, Royal Rumble is expected to have around 25-30,000 paid fans in attendance.

The start date for Cena’s new movie is actually February 4th. So if Cena wanted to be a surprise entrant in the Rumble matchup, there’s still a possibility of that happening.

Royal Rumble Burger Coming To Chase Field This Sunday

This Sunday, the WWE Royal Rumble takes place from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Over 40,000 fans will be on hand to witness which WWE Superstars will earn the right to challenge for championship gold at WrestleMania 35 .

To commemorate Sunday’s pay-per-view, Chase Field has announced it will be serving a one-of-a-kind Royal Rumble Burger. What exactly does a Royal Rumble Burger entail?

  • 18 oz. pork bratwurst patty on a toasted onion roll
  • Cheddar cheese, smoked bacon and fried onions
  • BBQ aioli sauce and crispy coleslaw
  • Topped with fried mac and cheese wedges.

For only $13, this thing is obscene. If you are attending the Royal Rumble and are brave enough to tangle with the Royal Rumble burger, please let us know on Twitter how it was (and how you felt afterwards).

Update: WWE Champion Daniel Bryan does NOT approve of the Royal Rumble Burger.

Jim Ross On Finn Balor Possibly Upsetting Brock Lesnar At Royal Rumble

This weekend (Sun. January 27, 2019) the WWE will host its Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) from the Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. In the main event, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will defend his title against Finn Balor. Initially, Lesnar was scheduled to defend his title against Braun Strowman. There has been a lot of injury concerns surrounding Strowman and his status.

However, those didn’t seem to be too much of a factor in the main event change. Instead, Vince McMahon decided to make the change to protect Strowman. Balor earned the opportunity to compete for the Universal Championship against Lesnar by winning two matches on Monday Night RAW recently. There will certainly be a massive size discrepancy between the pair, but that didn’t stop AJ Styles from giving Lesnar a great fight at Survivor Series in 2017.

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross discussed the bout in the latest episode of his podcast, “The Ross Report.” While he admits Balor is likely to do the job this weekend, Ross also discussed a scenario, albeit an unlikely one, in which Balor could emerge victorious:

“I’m happy that [Bálor] is getting this opportunity and win or lose, that’s where we are,” Ross said. “I guess what you have to consider about this match is could Bálor upset Lesnar and be the Universal Champion heading into WrestleMania? He certainly could. He certainly could. It wouldn’t shock me a bit.

“But you’ve got to think, who does WWE want in that title match at WrestleMania? I keep hearing they want Lesnar and Rollins. Okay, if you know that’s what they want, then, Bálor will do the honors at the Royal Rumble, but he’ll go down in a blaze of glory with an amazing story being told.

“So looking at it ahead, but maybe Bálor is their guy and they’re going to have him match up with say, Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. Well, you know the match is going to be badass.”

Do you think WWE will have Balor upset Lesnar at the Royal Rumble?

Finn Balor Talks About His Relationship With Vince McMahon

This Sunday, at WWE’s Royal Rumble event, Finn Balor will face off against ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar. The two will clash for the WWE Universal Championship. Balor was inserted into the matchup after winning a Fatal 4-Way to fill Braun Strowman’s spot. Strowman lost the opportunity thanks to Vince McMahon during last week’s Monday Night Raw.

Balor has already shut down the prospect of the WWE Universe seeing ‘The Demon’ at Royal Rumble. He stated, “[…] I can assure you that the man who faces Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble will be Finn Balor, the man.”

Backstage Balor

In a recent interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Balor reflected on his rise back to the main event, and his hard-earned journey to face Lesnar for the Universal Championship. Finn was also asked whether he thinks Vince McMahon believes in him, and what their working relationship looks like.

“I [have] got to be honest, I’m not sure what my relationship is with Vince McMahon. I’m not sure if he believes in me or not. He can be a man of few words. When I show up to work, I find out what I need to do and go handle my business in the ring,” Balor admitted. “That’s kind of how I’ve handled my career for the last 18 years. I’m not the type of guy who is going to be knocking on doors trying to pitch storylines and work inside angles. I’m just going to show up and do my job. I will say he has shown nothing but respect to me face-to-face, but that is as far as our relationship goes.”

Do you think Vince McMahon believes in Finn? Will Balor make the most of his opportunity this Sunday and walk out victorious? Does he need to channel ‘The Demon’ to stand against ‘The Beast’?

Rusev Discusses The Origins Of ‘Rusev Day,’ Reflects On His WWE Character

This Sunday, current WWE United States Champion, Rusev, will defend against Shinsuke Nakamura. Their match takes place during the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show, which begins at 5E/2P.

The three-time US Champion took the time for an interview recently with Planeta Wrestling. During their conversation, Rusev divulged that the popular ‘Rusev Day’ concept was only meant to be a one and done thing.

“It [Rusev Day] was supposed to be a one-off, just a celebration after I beat Randy Orton and that was it,” he admitted. “A few weeks after I was going “Rusev Day, Rusev Day” and people really started digging it. Even in the backstage, with the New Day and with Aiden singing “Rusev Day” helped. People just got it and loved the whole concept and it became really big.”

“I went from being the most hated or one of the most hated to now being praised. I loved being both.”

Rusev then talked about wanting to elevate the importance and prestige of the United State championship. He admits, however, that no matter the title, he would feel the same way.

That’s why “[…] every time I step foot in that ring I wanna have a great match to prove that this title belongs right there with all the rest.”

“There’s No Gimmick. It’s Just Me.”

In another interview, with sportskeeda.com, Rusev extrapolated on the importance of Rusev Day in relation to his WWE character. He claims that “It’s never been about [portraying] a good guy or a bad guy. I’ve always been me. And that’s what people don’t understand. Just because I supported Russia before because that was my belief or understanding, that doesn’t mean I was a bad guy.”

“I was just outspoken about what I believe in. And now, instead of Russia, I believe in Rusev Day. And being the best United States Champion I can be. That’s what I believe in. There’s no character. There’s no gimmick. It’s just me.”

Rusev will take on last year’s Royal Rumble winner, Shinsuke Nakamura this Sunday, 27th January.

Alexa Bliss Announces In-Ring Return At The Royal Rumble (Video)

Alexa Bliss suffered an unfortunate injury that resulted in a concussion late last year. Ever since then, there has been speculation and rumor surrounding Alexa Bliss’ overall health and when she may return to in-ring action.

Last night during her talk show segment, ‘Moment Of Bliss’, Alexa cleared up all worry and confusion. She’s coming back, and will officially return at this Sunday’s Women’s Royal Rumble event.

Alexa has not competed in-ring since a WWE Live Event back on October 20th 2018. In that time, she has gone through rigorous testing in order to ensure she is healthy and capable of returning to competition.

Thankfully, it appears that all the hard work, rehabbing, and tests have paid off as Lil’ Miss Bliss now aims to walk away with that lucrative number one contender opportunity.

John Cena’s Royal Rumble Status In Question Following Injury

John Cena was part of a fatal four-way match on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw and as we noted before, Cena chose to put over Balor in the bout by taking the pin.

However, the Cenation Leader was seen limping in the videos taken after the show went off air, raising suspicion that he might have suffered an injury during the bout.

Now WWE is reporting that Cena reaggravated this injury while training yesterday and now his status for the upcoming Royal Rumble event is in question:

“The injury was exacerbated earlier today as Cena was training his legs at the gym, which has cast doubt on whether he will be able to compete in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match this Sunday.”

What’s interesting to note here is that the 16-time world champion was originally expected to have a short stint with the company. It was speculated that he will miss Royal Rumble because of his movie commitments.

However, John then announced his entry into the 30 men battle royal, making people think that the company changed their plans in light of the recent low ratings.

Though with the reports of his injury, the big question is if the angle is legit or if WWE just tried to boost the ticket sales of the upcoming PPV with Cena’s name while knowing that he won’t be able to compete at the show.

Finn Balor Says He Won’t Be The Demon At Royal Rumble

Finn Balor spoke to ESPN about his Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar this Sunday at the Royal Rumble. Lesnar will be the toughest fight of Balor’s WWE career. When Balor is up against his biggest challenges, he summons the demon inside. The Irish Superstar told ESPN he will not be tapping into his painted alter ego at the Rumble.

“I feel like maybe I leaned on the demon too much there in the past as a crutch, and I can assure you that the man who faces Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble will be Finn Balor, the man,” he told Tim Fiorvanti of ESPN.com.

“I think a lot of people were surprised when I came out at WrestleMania not in demon paint but I feel like I had a bigger message to spread that day — one of equality and acceptance. Honestly, this match just kind of came about so fast that I haven’t had much time to think about it.”

Balor added that he not have new ring gear or a surprise look in store for the title match, but we’re still several days away and he’ll probably come up with something.

Brock Lesnar Trains With No. 1 Heavyweight Wrestler in the Country

Brock Lesnar may be preparing for a showdown against Finn Balor at WWE Royal Rumble in January but lately he’s been back at his old stomping grounds at the University of Minnesota wrestling room.

The 2000 NCAA champion wrestler went back to his roots this week with a session at the Gophers training facility where he faced one of the best young heavyweight wrestlers in recent history.

Gable Steveson — a freshman at the University of Minnesota — just recently took over the No. 1 ranking in the country as he moved to 20-0 on the season earlier this week.

As the NCAA wrestling season continues, Steveson got some mat time in with Lesnar, who was a ferocious monster during his college days while racking up an incredible 106-5 overall record including his championship season as well as being a two-time All-American at Minnesota.

Lesnar has made scarce appearances on Monday Night Raw since winning back the WWE Universal championship but obviously he’s staying in shape while he’s been away.

There are still plenty of questions about Lesnar’s future in WWE after WrestleMania because he was originally expected to return to the UFC for a heavyweight fight against current champion Daniel Cormier.

That plan has been put on hold for now as Cormier deals with some injuries and Lesnar remains focused on his professional wrestling career.

It’s unknown if that will continue after WrestleMania but Lesnar is obviously staying ready for the ring or the Octagon by working with the best heavyweight in college wrestling today.

Ronda Rousey Wants To Wrestle In A Royal Rumble

Nearing the first anniversary of her debut as a regular performer at the Royal Rumble, Ronda Rousey already has a long list of WWE achievements. Rousey recently talked about her future goals on her YouTube channel.

From a featured match at WrestleMania 34 to capturing the Raw Women’s Championship to headlining the Evolution pay-per-view, Rousey has already checked a number of boxes on a performer’s Hall of Fame resume.

What’s Left To Do?

Obviously, headlining WrestleMania would put Rousey among an elite class of superstars. It seems that Rousey may check that box as well in just a few short months.

What Else?

For Rousey, entering a Royal Rumble match at number one is something that she has put a lot of thought into, and would like to accomplish.

“It was one of my dreams in the WWE, when I first came here, one of the things I really wanted to do,” said Rousey on her YouTube channel.

Rousey goes on to explain what entering the Rumble match first would mean to her.

“I just felt like I would never be able to prove to anyone that I actually knew how to wrestle in a way that wasn’t just memorized from beginning to end unless I was the first one out in the Royal Rumble and go all the way to the end and win it.”

“Then nobody can say I don’t know how to wrestle,” said Rousey.

“That to me was the most difficult thing you could do,” Rousey said.

“That, to me, is like the peak of being able to say I can really f—ing do this.”

Will It Ever Happen?

With a showdown with Sasha Banks at this year’s Rumble, it won’t happen this year.

Rousey’s desire to start a family is well known. She isn’t expected to have longevity in the wrestling business for that reason.

“It’ll probably never happen,” said Rousey.

“We’ll see.”

Legend Rips WWE For Replacing Strowman With Balor As Lesnar’s Rumble Opponent

After Braun Strowman ripped the door off of Vince McMahon’s limo during Raw, The Chairman stripped “The Monster Among Men” of his Universal Championship Match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble and made an impromptu Fatal 4-Way Match for later in the night to determine his new challenger. Balor then beat John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin to earn the Universal Championship Match against Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.

Superstar Billy Graham, a WWE Hall of Famer and one-time WWE Champion, took to Facebook on Tuesday night to criticize WWE for switching Strowman with Balor as Lesnar’s opponent at the Royal Rumble. Graham feels that WWE fans won’t buy Balor as a worthy opponent for Lesnar, pointing out that Balor is considerably smaller.

Graham wrote, “Well fans, just my professional opinion once more, and certainly nothing personal about any of the talent. But as you folks who watched RAW last night ( I didn’t ) know that ” The Monster Among Men ” Braun Strowman has been pulled from the main event against Lesnar. Despite Strowman’s superhuman strength and his ability to over turn paramedic trucks, 18 wheeler 10,000 pound cab trucks, and then overturn Vince’s limo, he can’t quite seem to beat a mere mortal in Brock Lesnar. So, now he has been replaced with less than 2 weeks before this mega PPV by Finn Balor.

“Does anyone in their right mind really believe Finn will have a chance in Hell of beating Lesnar ? I would want my money back immediately. Word is Finn Balor will spend 3 hours getting his spray paint demon gimmick on, to help him beat Lesnar, who it looks like to me out weighs Finn by a good 100 pounds.”

Graham also responded to Dave Meltzer stating on Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon planned Balor vs. Lesnar all along. With WWE continuing to promote Lesnar vs. Strowman to sell tickets, Graham feels that WWE is double-crossing fans “by putting in a man who will not sell one ticket to see this match.”

Graham continued, “Ah, but the following news by Meltzer is very telling. Meltzer is reporting that this was the plan all along to sell tickets. Knowing that fans would not buy Finn Balor against Lesnar. So that is where the WWE is with their talent. They have to work a gimmick that is a new one for me by advertising a wrestler the fans think had a chance to beat Lesnar to sell tickets, then pull the rug right out from underneath the fans, double crossing them by putting in a man who will not sell one ticket to see this match. Also waiting as long as they could.”

Graham closed his post by writing, “Damn, the WWE sucks when it comes to talent. I bet that Cody Rhodes and his crew will out draw WWE head to head every time. Truly, a colossal scam by the WWE, man do they ever suck. S.B.G.”

WWE Announces Big Change To Universal Title Match At Royal Rumble

WWE has announced a big change to one of the top matches at their next event, Royal Rumble.

During this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Memphis, TN, Braun Strowman chased after Baron Corbin after having a promo segment to the point that Corbin was hiding in Vince McMahon’s limo. Strowman busted out a window and ripped off the door of the limo. This led to McMahon giving a $100,000 fine to Strowman then after Strowman questioned that, decided to remove Strowman from this Universal Title Match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.

Later in the show, McMahon booked a Fatal 4-Way Match in order to determine a new #1 contender. Finn Balor beat John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin to earn the right to challenge Lesnar for the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble.

Earlier in the day, there had been rumors that a change to this match would be made on this show. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on exactly why the match was nixed. It could be due to Strowman’s elbow injury, which he underwent surgery for last month, as he was not medically cleared to compete.

Edge Reveals Why He Liked Entering Royal Rumble Matches Early

Recently, WWE Hall Of Famer and former World Champion Edge was interviewed by “Inside The Ropes.” With the Royal Rumble right around the corner, “The Rated-R Superstar” was asked about some of his favorite Rumble memories. Edge noted how the stories that develop during the course of the match is what helps make it so special. He also made a very interesting revelation.

Edge said that he would prefer to enter Royal Rumble matches early, as opposed to later on. He noted this was because he didn’t want to miss an opportunity to work with a surprise entrant, such as Jake “The Snake” or Booker T:

“I think that’s the key, if you’re one of the pieces of thread through the Rumble, then yeah, it makes for a more difficult, challenging night. But that’s what you want to be!

“I always loved if I was gonna get to be #2 and be in there at #22, because that means, at some point every talent is going to go through you and you’re basically going to be in there for the greatest hits as every character rolls through.

“And hopefully you’re in there when, I don’t know, Jake the Snake comes out, or something, and you can take the short arm clothesline, or Booker T, or take your pick. I always enjoyed the rumble from that aspect.”

Edge In WWE

The 45-year-old has a Royal Rumble victory under his belt. He was the winner of the 2010 Rumble and went on to challenge Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 26.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to beat “Y2J” for the title that year. However, after 11 World Titles and being part of one of the greatest tag teams of all time, Edge was forced to retire in 2011. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame the following year.
