Ruby Riott was released from WWE earlier this month. She later revealed on the Wrestling Perspective podcast that she does not plan on going back to her previous name, Heidi Lovelace.
During this discussion, she noted that she wants to keep the name “Ruby” as it is an homage to the Rancid song, Ruby Soho. Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen is also a co-host of the Wrestling Perspectives podcast.
“I am shopping for a new name I would like to keep [the name Ruby] if it’s possible. I feel like it fits me. Ruby came from Ruby Soho and that’s dear to my heart,” she said on the show. This led some fans to say she could just use the name “Ruby Soho.”
Ruby Riott recently changed her name on Instagram to “Ruby Soho,” another indication that this is the name she’ll be using moving forward. Her location is as “Destination Unknown” – another reference to the Rancid song.
Following her WWE release earlier this month, she wrote on Instagram, “Well… here it goes. I’ve never been good at this sort of stuff. Yesterday in a matter of minutes, my life changed very drastically. But after some tears, some panic and a full box of Oreos, I was able look back at how lucky I’ve been to accomplish what have. I never thought I’d make it to WWE. I’ve been honored to be apart of a Squad of the most incredible women I’ve ever met.”
The common theme among the ever-growing list of released WWE talent is that the creative limitations were stifling. The frustration of stars such as Miro and Jon Moxley were more than evident in their post-release podcasts and interviews. However, Ruby Riott likes to view things differently.
The star was cut from the women’s roster in June this year. Many wrestlers and fans claimed WWE had not allowed us to see the best of Ruby Riott. Be this as it may, Riott – formerly known as Heidi Lovelace – does not feel that the tight restrictions imposed on the stars are necessarily negatives.
Talking about what it’s like working under such tight reigns Ruby Riott said “”I like to be heard – even if it’s to be heard and be sh*t on.”
Talking further in an interview with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast Riott said that she chose to view the restrictions as a positive. Seeing it as a challenge. What could she still do with her character?
Thank you ! Thank you !! What a turn out for tonight’s Wrestling Perspective . Make sure you go and watch @RubyRiottWWE interview .. When you are done .. everyone just has one question for her .. Ruby .. what name did you pick ?!?!https://t.co/jPxjTatgBf

Ruby Riott Turned Creative Control into a Challenge
Talking about the negative aspect of WWE creative Ruby Riott said that she felt she thrived under challenging conditions. There’s no doubt WWE affords its wrestlers little to no creative freedom. Yet it is a breath of fresh air to hear a wrestler turn it on its head.
We have all heard what goes on behind the scenes in WWE. It isn’t new and it isn’t likely to change any time soon. Hearing a star like Ruby Riott, who undoubtedly has a valid reason to complain having never received a real push – barring one title opportunity against Ronda Rousey – give everything a positive spin is something worth writing about.
It is clear from her words that she wasn’t necessarily happy with what happened during her time in WWE. Her attitude does not paint WWE in a different light. It does, however, show the depth of character Ruby Riott has.
Nobody knows yet where Riott will head once her 90 days have been served, however, wherever she goes, good things are sure to happen.
The Riott Squad had a long run in WWE after their main roster debut but according to its leader and former WWE star Ruby Riott, the group was only supposed to last a few weeks originally.
The former WWE star recently appeared on The Wrestling Perspective podcast where she discussed many things and revealed the original plans for her faction.
Ruby Riott explained that the faction was not supposed to last more than six weeks. However, their different characters worked so well that the officials decided to keep them together:
“From what I understand, we weren’t supposed to last more than six weeks. It was supposed to be like an entry and then we’d go our separate ways. We didn’t change anything about our characters to adhere to each other,
We just stayed ourselves. What ended up happening was those three very different characters ended working well together,” explained Ruby Riott, “And in contrast, so they kept us together.”
Where Vince McMahon Got The Inspiration For The Group
Riott also revealed an interesting rumor about the formation of the group. According to her, she was told that Vince McMahon saw the Suicide Squad and took inspiration from it:
“I was also told that [Vince McMahon] had seen Suicide Squad and he wanted a Joker, a Harley Quinn, and a beast. Then, the Riott Squad was born.
I don’t know how much truth there was to that, it was a rumor, but I wouldn’t doubt it. A lot of my career was right place right time.”
Ruby Riott was paired with Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan upon her main roster debut in November 2017. The group broke up during the 2019 draft when its members were drafted to separate brands.
The latest wave of WWE releases saw the company parting way with some surprising names. One of them was the Riott Squad leader Ruby Riott.
Bryan Alvarez talked about Riott and her time in WWE during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live. He revealed the original WrestleMania 37 plans for her.
Ruby Riott teamed up with Liv Morgan to compete in the tag team turmoil match at night one of the show which also featured four other teams.
According to the wrestling journalist, the team of Riott and Morgan were originally scheduled to win this match and go on to challenge the then women’s tag team champions Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler on night two of the show.
However, the company changed the plans on the day of the event. Natalya and Tamina went on to win the bout and challenge for the titles. Jax and Baszler were scheduled to retain the title in the original scenario as well.
While Natalya and Tamina couldn’t cash in their opportunity at WrestleMania, the match opened the doors for more opportunities for them. They finally won the tag team titles on an episode of SmackDown last month.
Things are always changing in WWE but one can only wonder what would have happened if Ruby Riott and her partner would have got the opportunity and if they would have gone on to win the championships instead.
Former WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer Nikki Bella recently took to Instagram to write messages to some recently released WWE Superstars. Bella specifically mentioned Ruby Riott, Mickie James, The IIconics, Lana and Chelsea Green.
“I have been shocked to say the least about some of the releases lately at WWE” Bella began on Instagram. “Wanted to write a thank you post to the women that have given their everything to the wrestling industry. Mind, body, soul and time”.
“I was so honored to share the ring with some of you and the ones I hadn’t I was so looking forward to one day sharing it” Nikki Bella continued. “Ruby Riott you were one of my favorite matches, you are such a selfless, kind, and incredibly talented woman.”
Nikki Bella on Released Superstars
“Mickie James you are an icon” Bella added. “I always hoped to have had a badass storyline with you. I know we could have created magic. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, goodness our future wrote itself, Brie and I were dreaming of fighting for the tag titles against the both of you. You two were a magic duo!”
Nikki Bella then finished by praising Lana and Chelsea Green. “Lana you shined in and out of that ring, loved our Total Divas days and traveling the world together. So many amazing laughs and memories!”
“And Chelsea Green, was super excited to see what you were going to bring! Thank you all for the entertainment and the memories! I know the future is so bright for you all! Can’t wait to follow you all wherever you may go.???? #womenswrestling”
It’s not confirmed at this time when Nikki and Brie intend on returning to the ring themselves. The twins recently gave birth, with Nikki becoming a mother for the first time. Both were present at the WWE Hall of Fame and WrestleMania this year, but are likely still some way off of being ready for a return to the squared circle.
Ruby Riott was one of the names released by WWE as part of the roster cuts on June 2nd, 2021. The 30-year-old had been with the company since 2016. She released a statement on Instagram today regarding her release.
“Yesterday in a matter of minutes, my life changed very drastically. But after some tears, some panic and a full box of Oreos, I was able look back at how lucky I’ve been to accomplish what have,” the former Heidi Lovelace wrote.
“I never thought I’d make it to WWE. I’ve been honored to be apart of a Squad of the most incredible women I’ve ever met, I’ve gotten to see the world, share locker rooms with some of the most talented women I know, some of which I’ve made lifelong friendships with. I’ve gotten to meet fans that were just like me, introverted kids, who never quite felt like they fit in. And between the locker room and those fans, I felt like I belonged and I’m so grateful for that feeling. With that, I am overwhelmed by the amount of calls/texts/tweets and support that I have received from former coworkers, friends, family and fans. Thank you so much for the kind words. You’ll never know how much it helped.”
“In the beginning ‘Heidi Lovelace’ was given to me, at the end ‘Ruby Riott’ was taken away. So I don’t know what I’ll be called or where I’ll end up. But please know this is far from over. Thank you,” she concluded the message with.

Outpouring of support for Ruby Riott
Numerous people have been posting online about how much respect they have for Ruby Riott.
“Dori got all the dog Moms roses on Mother’s Day, sent me flowers when my grandma passed away, organized locker room birthday parties, sent a gift to Chelsea from all of us when she got hurt, made Jess a video to tell her we miss her AND is one of the greatest wrestlers out there,” Bayley Tweeted.
“She always made me feel so welcomed whenever I was around her. It meant so much to me. Truly a lovely soul,” said Indi Hartwell.
The last remaining member of the Riott Squad on the WWE roster, Liv Morgan, also commented:
Whoever is lucky enough to get Heidi Lovelace on their roster, you win.
Ruby Riott defeated Peyton Royce on RAW this week. The win avenges a loss Riott suffered to the Iiconics member on the June 27th edition of RAW.
Riott took to Twitter to release a statement on the win and what it means in light of the double shoulder surgery she underwent last year.
“Monday night was a special night. My match against Peyton Royce might not have been for a title, or even an opportunity at one. But, it was my first singles win since November of 2019.”
Ruby then begins to address her relationship with former Riott squad member, Liv Morgan, in the statement.
“When I came back from my shoulder surgeries, I thought things would be exactly how I left them, but they weren’t. Things changed…people changed and I didn’t know how to handle it, but the fire that was lit after Peyton disrespected Liv Morgan, was one that I needed to shake the guilt and the defeat that I’ve felt for months.”
Ruby then addresses Liv directly in the her statement.
“Liv, if you watched on Monday, I hope you were proud. And Peyton, from now on, keep her name outta your mouth.”
Riott has wrestled 14 times since returning to action beginning on March 2nd, 2020. Dates listed below are when the match was taped, not when it aired. She’s only had one singles win and one tag-team win in those 14 matches.
3/2/20: Liv Morgan defeated Ruby Riott (RAW)
3/8/20: Elimination Chamber Match: Shayna Baszler (RAW)defeated Asuka, Liv Morgan, Natalya, Ruby Riott, and Sarah Logan (RAW)
4/13/20: MITB Qualifier: Liv Morgan defeated Ruby Riott (RAW)
She did so on Monday’s episode of RAW in Salt Lake City, UT at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on the USA Network. Liv Morgan beat Lana in a singles match. After the match, Riott came out for what appeared to be a Riott Squad reunion.
However, that quickly faded as Riott attacked Morgan. Thus, it appears that the feud between Morgan and Lana is over as WWE shifts to her feuding with Riott.
Back in August, the WWE star underwent successful surgery to repair a bilateral injury on her left shoulder. She underwent the first surgery to repair the same injury on her right shoulder back on May 22nd.
She was last seen on WWE programming where she wrestled on an April 22nd episode of Main Event before RAW went live when she lost to Dana Brooke in a singles match.
Riott last competed at a WWE Live Event in Cardiff, Wales on May 17th as a participant in a Fatal Four Way for the RAW Women’s Championship that saw Becky Lynch successfully retain her title.
Before the injury, she hadn’t been used much since The Riott Squad was split up in the 2019 Superstar Shakeup.
It was recently reported that former SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi who has been out of action since last July is expected to be backstage at Sunday’s Royal Rumble event.
Now a new report from PWInsider has revealed two more names who could be returning to the ring for the women’s battle royal at the show.
According to the site, both Ruby Riott and Nia Jax are currently scheduled to be in Houston, Texas for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view at Minute Maid Park.
Ruby Riott has been out of action since May last year after
undergoing double shoulder surgery. She had the operation in her right shoulder
in May and the same operation was performed on her left shoulder in August.
She was spotted at the WWE Performance Center earlier this month. However, it was said that the former NXT star is not expected to return to in-ring action until later this year so her return at Royal Rumble seems less likely.
On the other hand, Nia Jax underwent double knee surgery in
April last year and reports on her recovery revealed that the former Raw
Women’s Champion was doing great.
It was reported earlier this month that Jax is expected to be back in the ring soon and therefore it’s more likely that she will make a surprise appearance at Sunday’s Royal Rumble event.
So far WWE has only announced 5 participants for the Women’s Royal Rumble in Charlotte Flair, Natalya, Nikki Cross, Alexa Bliss, and Sarah Logan. So there are plenty of spots open for the mentioned stars to fit in.
Royal Rumble this year will take place at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas on Sunday, January 26.
Ruby Riott hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since April and hasn’t wrestled a match since a house show in Cardiff, Wales back in May. The 28-year-old has been on the shelf ever since undergoing shoulder surgery on both her left and right shoulders.
According to a recent report from PW Insider, however, Ruby was spotted at the WWE Performance Center recently. It is believed Ruby was at the center in order for WWE doctors to monitor her progress.
Upon undergoing the two shoulder surgeries this spring, it was initially reported Ruby could be back by early 2020 but there is no update on how she is progressing.
Since she has been on the shelf, WWE has split up the Riott squad with Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan’s storylines not intersecting on Raw. This week on the show, Logan antagonized Charlotte Flair before a match between the two could begin. Logan attacked Flair before the bell and threw her robe on the ground.
The other Riott Squad member Liv Morgan interrupted the rather eventful wedding between Bobby Lashley and Lana last week. Morgan is scheduled to be in Rusev’s corner for a singles match against Bobby Lashley next week.
Ruby Riott has been on the shelf since May. The 28-year-old had surgery on her right shoulder in the spring and then a similar surgery on her left shoulder earlier this summer. Riott recently showed off a new tattoo she received on her official Instagram page:
“She’s even better than I could’ve ever imagined!!!” Riott wrote on Instagram. “@sarahloganwwe gave me the idea for this piece and @artbyamberolsenbrought it to life, and she’s incredible! She’ll hate me for saying this, but I’m such a huge fan of @artbyamberolsen, as an artist, as a human and as a friend. Thank you so much, she’s perfect!! ??? P.S. Check out my sweet surgery scar in my sunflower!”
Where is the Riott Squad?
Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan comprised the Riott Squad beginning on November 21st, 2017. The faction was split up shortly after WrestleMania this year when Liv Morgan was drafted to Smackdown and Riott was placed on the injured list, however.
Morgan’s only match on Smackdown since being drafted to the brand was a single’s loss to Charlotte Flair in July. After losing to Flair, Morgan promised to “be real” when she returned.
Sarah Logan cut an unaired promo on RAW once stating that she is a Viking and going to raid the women’s division. Logan’s only wrestled on RAW once since the Riott Squad broke up, however. She dropped a single’s match to Bayley in a Beat the Clock Challenge back in July.
Ruby Riott has gone under the knife for a second time.
On Tuesday, the WWE star underwent successful surgery to repair a bilateral injury on her left shoulder. She revealed the news on her official Twitter account.
This was expected as she underwent the first surgery to repair the same injury on her right shoulder back on May 22nd. At the time, WWE noted in a statement that she would need to undergo the knife yet again on her left shoulder at a later date, which was today.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when she’ll be able to make a return to in-ring action. We wish her a speedy recovery.
She was last seen on WWE programming where she wrestled on an April 22nd episode of Main Event before RAW went live. She lost to Dana Brooke in a singles match.
Riott Squad leader, Ruby Riott, who suffered an unfortunate bilateral injury, has undergone successful shoulder surgery on her right shoulder. She will be undergoing further surgery on her left shoulder at a later time.
WWE released the following update:
“Raw Superstar Ruby Riott underwent successful surgery yesterday to repair a bilateral injury to her right shoulder, WWE.com can confirm. Riott will receive surgery for the same injury on her left shoulder at a later date. Join WWE.com in wishing Ruby a speedy recovery!
The RAW Superstar last competed on television in a losing effort to Dana Brooke on the April 22nd episode of WWE Main Event.
She last competed on May 17th at a WWE Live Event in Cardiff, Wales as a participant in a Fatal Four Way for the RAW Women’s Championship. Becky Lynch would successfully defended her championship.
There is no scheduled return date for Riott at this point in time. However, considering she is yet to receive surgery to her left shoulder, she will probably be out for quite a while.
Given that The Riott Squad were essentially disbanded following Liv Morgan’s move to SmackDown Live post-Superstar Shake-Up, that only leaves Sarah Logan as a potential representative for the group on Monday Night RAW.
WWE has yet to really utilize either Logan or Morgan on their respective brands since the Shake-Up took place.
Ruby Riott is gearing up to the biggest match thus far in her career with the WWE.
The Monday Night RAW star is slated to challenge for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event on WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network.
WWE’s official Twitter account sent out the following video of Riott sending a warning to the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
This is where Riott stated that fans think they know how this will go and what the first-ever WrestleMania headlined by women is going to be. She knows the fans think it will involve Rousey against Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch.
“It has to be headlined by Ronda Rousey because she’s carried the women’s evolution on her back as far as she’s concerned. But I have news for ya.” Riott made it known that they ’re not just involved in the women’s evolution, the Riott Squad is the women’s evolution.
She added that they are the change this division needs and vowed that the entire Riott Squad are going to leave the Elimination Chamber PPV as champions then walk out those doors on the road the WrestleMania.
Ruby Riott will take on Ronda Rousey for a chance to win the RAW Women’s Championship Sunday at Elimination Chamber. She recently expressed on Twitter that Rousey is looking past their upcoming match.
Who cares about what’s best for business or what these people want?! You’re so focused on giving the #WomensEvolution what they deserve, that you’re not even looking at #EliminationChamber. So I’ll gladly take your title & main event #Wrestlemania whether they like it or not. https://t.co/aLZSBJWtey
Charlotte Flair chimed in with a Tweet as well. “I’ve been saying ‘Flair/Rousey’, but let me make something VERY clear,” Flair said. “Ruby Riott is as tough as they come, and that squad of hers will do ANYTHING to get gold around her waist. If Ronda is focused on Mania, Ruby is going to leave Elimination Chamber with that title.”
Riott and Rousey have met once in single’s action before. Rousey defeated Riott on the October 1st RAW. Rousey teamed with the Bellas twice to defeat the Riott Squad as well.
Riott then followed up Rousey’s response with the following:
Ruby Riott is upset many are looking past her match with Ronda Rousey at the Elimination Chamber PPV this weekend. Much of the focus of WWE programming as of late has revolved around who Rousey will defend the title against at Mania, all but assuming she’ll get by Riott on Sunday.
Ruby Riott took to Twitter to voice her concerns recently.
My title match was announced via tweet. The matches announced for Wrestlemania don’t even have me as a possible contender. I’ve been underrated & disregarded. But after I beat @RondaRousey this Sunday, I won’t be overlooked again. And @MsCharlotteWWE I’ll see you at Wrestlemania
The match between Rousey and Riott was made last week following Rousey defeating the other two members of Riott Squad RAW. Ruby was the only member of the team not to get in the ring with Rousey that night.
Rousey and Riott have met in single’s action once before, however. Rousey defeated Riott on the October 1st, 2018 show. They’ve also faced each other several times in tag-team action. The Bella Twins teamed with Rousey to defeat the Riott squad twice. The first time was at Super Show-Down in Australia and the second was two nights later on RAW.
In a dark match from this week’s RAW, Rousey again defeated the Riott Squad in tag action. Rousey teamed with Ember Moon, Natalya, and the Boss N Hug Connection to defeat the Riott Squad, Nia Jax, & Tamina.
Ronda Rousey will look to defend her RAW Women’s Championship at Elimination Chamber against Ruby Riott. The event takes place Sunday, February 17th, 2019 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Riott was the one member of the Riott Squad who Rousey did not submit on last Monday night’s RAW.
“Will the “unbreakable bond” between the nefarious faction help Riott conquer the unrelenting Rousey and forge her own path into The Showdown of the Immortals?” A WWE press release for the match reads. “Find out at WWE Elimination Chamber, Sunday, Feb. 17, at 7 ET/4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.”
Ronda Rousey vs Ruby Riott – Elimination Chamber 2019
Riott Squad member, Liv Morgan, noted on Twitter that every member of their faction will have a chance at a championship at Elimination Chamber.
Rousey will look to defend her title for the 8th consecutive time on WWE programming (i.e not including house shows). Since winning the title at SummerSlam, she has defended it against Alexa Bliss, Nikki Bella, Mickie James, Nia Jax, Natalya, Sasha Banks, and Bayley.
Also in Rousey news, she’s marketing a line of “Ice & Advil” T-shirts with a portion of proceeds going to charity:
Ever since moving from NXT to Raw, Ember Moon has been trying to help elevate the women’s division on the red brand. She’s not alone in her endeavors, as the women on both Raw and SmackDown share that united ambition.
Speaking recently with Busted Open Radio, Moon discussed with Bully Ray whom she believes to have the most potential amongst the women’s locker room. Bully asked if she agreed that fellow NXT-alumni, Ruby Riott and Sonya Deville, have further potential regarding their main roster runs.
“Oh yeah, 100 per cent,” she said. “[…] I’ve shared a locker room with both of those girls in NXT. I was there for Sonya’s first day when she came in knowing nothing about what we did, even from Tough Enough.”
“To see how much she’s grown from where she started and how she’s come into her own…she hasn’t changed who she is depending on who’s around her. She is who she is and that’s what you’re gonna get,” Moon explained. “A whole bunch of intensity, hard hits – I love her to death. I love watching her because something about her look just draws me in. I just wanna watch her.”
Riott Squad Love
Moon then recounted the journey she has shared with Ruby Riott in pro wrestling. The two come from similar professional backgrounds, both meeting whilst wrestling for the independent scene, wrestling for small crowds as they continued to hone their craft.
“I love her [Riott] more than life itself. We’ve had a similar journey to being on the independent scene and being told that because of the way we looked, we weren’t going to get hired. Then going from that swing to this Women’s Evolution… It’s really cool – we have a very personal relationship because we tagged and wrestled on the indies.”
Do you agree with Ember Moon? Who else on the women’s roster has the potential to break into the main event?
Last month, Ruby Riott broke sunglasses which used to belong to Natalya’s father, Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart, kick-starting a rivalry between the two. Recently on Total Divas, Natalya was shown giving the eulogy at her father’s funeral.
While Natalya would get a measure of revenge recently, defeating Riott in single’s action on Raw, the rivalry between the two appears to be far from over.
Riott sent out the following to Natalya on Twitter yesterday:
Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart passed away this summer at the age of 63. He is said to have died after falling and hitting his head at his home. Natalya sent out the following statement on August 13th:
“I can’t put into words how hard it is going to be for myself and our family to have to say goodbye to my dad,” she Tweeted. “He meant he world to us, and nothing will ever replace the special times we shared together as a family. My dad was always a fighter and an incredibly special person. There was no one like him! I’m just gonna miss him so much. We are going to hold all of the moments we had with him close to our hearts forever and never let them go. I promise to keep your memory alive. We love you so much, Daddy!”
“On behalf of my entire family, we would also like to personally thank everyone for the outpouring of thoughts and prayers. It’s meant so much to us,” Natalya continued.
Ivory responded, “Can I have a year to get in shape, first?!” Bayley then said, “How about I give you until Oct. 28?” — Evolution takes place on October 28.
There’s a personal connection between the two as Bayley met Ivory when she was 12 years old and the then-WWE star asked her if she’s going to see her in the ring one day.
“I remember having the opportunity to meet Ivory as a kid, and she was the first woman’s wrestler that I met. She looked at me and said, ‘I’m going to see you in the ring one day aren’t I?'” Bayley said in an interview earlier this year.
“I took that sign that I was going to make it and then I met her again at Wrestlemania 30 or 31 as a member of the WWE roster and told her that story.”
– At WWE Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia, Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins beat The Riott Squad in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match. The match ended in a unique fashion as Rousey made Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan submit simultaneously to a double armbar. Rousey took to Instagram on Sunday to thank Australia, The Bella Twins and even The Riott Squad.
Rousey wrote, “Yesterday moved me to my core. Thank you Melbourne. Thank you Australia. Thank you everyone who smiled back at me at #WWESSD … thank you @thenikkibella and @thebriebella for having my back in the ring last night…. And thank you #RiotSquad @rubyriottwwe @sarahloganwwe @yaonlylivvonce for being the force we had to reckon with.”
The Riott Squad debuted on Smackdown Live on November 21st, 2017. On the same night, The Squad assaulted the likes of Naomi, Becky Lynch, Natalya, and Charlotte Flair. The Riott Squad was apart of the Superstar Shakeup and moved to Monday Night Raw. On Raw, they feuded with the likes of Ember Moon, Sasha Banks, and Bayley.
The Riott Squad will face The Bellas and Ronda Rousey in six women tag action at the Super-Showdown PPV tomorrow. The card for the PPV goes as followed:
Final WWE Super Show-Down Card
Triple H (with Shawn Michaels in his corner) vs. The Undertaker (with Kane in his corner)
#1 Contender’s Match: Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe – No Count Outs, No Disqualifications, There Must Be a Winner
John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs. Elias and Kevin Owens
The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre – Six-Man Tag Team Match
WWE SmackDown Champion Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair
Ronda Rousey & The Bella Twins vs. The Riott Squad – Six-Woman Tag Team Match
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander vs. Buddy Murphy
Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey showed off a photo with fellow Four Horsewomen members – Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir. All members of the group are currently under contract with the WWE.
Years ago, Rousey, Duke, and Shafir were dubbed MMA’s Four Horsewomen as an homage to the classic Ric Flair-led pro wrestling stable that started in 1985 and lasted through the late ’90s. You can see the photo here:
As seen on this week’s episode of RAW in Jacksonville, FL at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on the USA Network, the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion beat Alicia Fox in a singles match.
Ruby Riott Returns To Action
Ruby Riott is back on WWE television as she made her return and reunited with The Riott Squad on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Jacksonville, FL at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on the USA Network.
If you recall, she had been out of action since suffering a MCL sprain in her left knee when she worked a match against Dana Brooke in late June. Following her return, she spoke with WWE.com where she noted that for the past few weeks, she had been at home and watching the shows where she has seen women’s division attempt to teach her squad a lesson.
What are your thoughts on Riott’s return? Sound off in the comment section.
Ruby Riott has been out of action since suffering an injury on WWE’s June 29th house show from Rapid City, South Dakota. She suffered a sprained MCL in a match she lost to Dana Brooke.
Last night on Wrestling Observer radio, Dave Meltzer gave an update on Riott’s timetable for return. “She’s not going to be out a long time,” Meltzer said. “She’s going to be out for sure a couple of weeks.”
The plans are to evaluate the injury in 3-4 weeks and go from there.
“From what I gather it’s not going to be surgery, it’s not going to be a long time off,” Meltzer continued. “So, she dodged a bullet there.”
I only lost last night cause I was missing my bae @RubyRiottWWE .. don’t feel too special @WWEEmberMoon … I’m sure I’ll see you in that ring again ???
Riott was absent from Liv Morgan’s match with Ember Moon this past week. Morgan lost the match, her 3rd straight single’s defeat since moving up to the main roster.
Riott recently explained why her trio likes to cause so much chaos:
“We’ve never been given nice things and because of that we are more aware of the people around us that take those nice things for granted. And the only way to teach those much needed lessons….is to destroy all the things you hold close to you.
Sasha Banks and Bayley, we understand we weren’t what started this fire, but we are proud that we were the gasoline that fueled it!”
The sports entertainment company announced earlier this week that Riott suffered a knee injury while working a WWE live event over the weekend.
She last competed in a WWE ring back on June 29 in Rapid City, North Dakota at a live event when she worked with Dana Brooke. WWE.com did note that she was scheduled for an MRI on July 2nd. Moving along to Tuesday, the promotion announced through their official website that the results from the MRI came back and showed that she suffered an MCL sprain.
This is good news for Riott as she won’t be out of action for an extended amount of time.
On Monday evening, the sports entertainment company made it public that Riott suffered a knee injury while working a WWE live event over the weekend.
As of this writing, there are not a ton of details on how she suffered the injury or how bad it is. WWE.com did note that she was scheduled for an MRI today (July 2nd).
It should be noted that she last competed in a WWE ring back on June 29 in Rapid City, North Dakota at a live event when she worked with Dana Brooke. We wish Riott a speedy recovery.
