  • 10 Superstars & Divas Ready To Strike Gold In 2015

For better or worse, it’s a new year. Everyone starts with a fresh slate, New Year’s resolutions are in effect, and generally speaking, people try to better themselves for the first week of the year before giving up the futile expedition.

Things are no different in the WWE, as every superstar will be trying to reach the next level in 2015. Here are ten superstars who will strike gold in 2015 by capturing a title that was previously unattainable.

    10. Charlotte

Although her debut on the main roster was less than memorable, Charlotte has the potential to revolutionize the Divas division. As seen in NXT, the daughter of the Nature Boy can easily put on entertaining 15+ minute matches any night of the week. It’s now up to the WWE to let the talented women of NXT show what they can do on a regular basis. Charlotte will help to legitimize the Divas division a bit in 2015 by capturing the Divas Championship.

    9. Sasha Banks

Charlotte and Sasha Banks put on one of the best Divas matches in the history of WWE a few weeks back at R Evolution. It appears “The Boss” is next in line for the throne in the NXT Women’s division, meaning she will capture the title after Charlotte leaves NXT in 2015.

  • Roman Reigns Speaks On Being Compared To John Cena, Bizarre Moments & More

The following are highlights of a new WNS Podcast interview with Roman Reigns:

ON RETURNING TO IN-RING ACTION: “Man, I’m happy to do a lot of things. Having that hernia surgery and the first couple of weeks of recovery was something I had never experienced before. I’ve had some injuries in my day and I’ve been able to work through the rehab process but I mean the requirements for hernia surgery is sit on the couch and do nothing. Which you know, it sounds like what’s he complaining about? But for the first couple of weeks it was pretty cool. I’m not going to lie I did some pretty good couch work. Til about two and a half, three weeks oh man. You start getting so antsy you just want to get out. I want to get in the gym and I want to work ad sweat and I just couldn’t do anything like that. It’s nice to be able to move around. run, jump, wrestle, everything man. I’m very fortunate.”

ON WETHER OR NOT 2015 WILL BE HIS YEAR: “I think so. I think everyone’s thinking that. I think everybody goes into these type of matches thinking they’re going to be the guy. It can happen. Whether it’s 30, 40, 100 people in this match. Everybody should be going in with that mindset. “I’m the guy. I can change my whole career. I can change my whole life if I just dominate tonight and that’s what I’m going to do. Fortunately for me I have some experience with this match. I have a record of eliminations and I’m taking last year making it all the way to the end and coming up short as a mistake I can learn from. As a good experience. Hopefully, I can capitalize on it this year and correct that wrong and go onto the big one.”

ON BEING COMPARED TO JOHN CENA: “When I first started wrestling, I got a lot of comparisons to a lot of different people. Razor Ramon, The Rock. I had a bunch of different qualities and characteristics of former guys. I’m not trying to be the next anybody. I’m trying to be the very first Roman Reigns that’s all I can do. I’m not out to be somebody that I’m not. I know who I am and I know where I come from and I know where I want to go. It’s very flattering to be compared to someone who’s worked so hard and been so successful. I don’t want what he has, I want what I’m going to get.”

ON THE TRANSITION FROM BEING PART OF THE SHIELD TO SINGLES COMPETITION: “I was fine with it. People don’t realize that I was wrestling singles towards the end of The Shield’s run. I main evented a whole year of fighting Randy Orton while I was still in The Shield. I had multiple matches without the boys. It’s just one of those things, I’m a sports entertainer. I’m a wrestler. I’m a worker. I can wrestle in a team situation. Before I got in The Shield I was wrestling singles so you gie me a squared circle, ropes and someone to beat up and I can do it.”

ON ANY COUNTRY HE’S NOT YET GOT TO PERFORM IN BUT WOULD LIKE TO: “There’s quite a few places I’d like to go. I’ve been so lucky to go to so many different cool places all over the world. Places I never would have thought of going or even knew about. But I think the one continent that I haven’t been to would be South America. So, I would love to get down there and just do antour and go country to country and tear it up for the South American WWE Universe.”

ON THE MOST BIZARRE THING THAT’S HAPPENED WHEN HE’S WALKED OUT THROUGH THE CROWD: “There’s been a couple of situations. There’s one time a few months ago this little girl came out and wave slapped me. Just a big bear hug on me and I didn’t even notice. She was on me before I even knew so when I looked down this 7-8 year old little girl who was as cute as can be. Not too long ago, I think last week i saw those little short films they do on the internet some girl just feeling my arm up and holding my hand. There’s so many people and I’m trying to take in the crowd and see what I’m working with with the people that sometimes I don’t even notice things like that. We have an awesome job, they’re so fiesty and emotional and outspoken. But they’ve been awesome with me. They haven’t done anything too crazy to where we put the entrance in jeopardy.”

ON POSSIBLY BEING A COMIC BOOK FAN AND SOME OF HIS FAVOURITES: “As a younger kid, I’ve read comic books. I was really into the Spiderman vs Venom and the Superman comics and things like that. But I’m not one of those grown men comic book guys like a few people I know. I got a kid, I don’t do little kid stuff. I like to think I emulate a comic book character with the things that I do. My look, my gear, the moveset that I have. Try to emulate that of a Superman-Spiderman mix or something like that.”

ON FACING RUSEV IN BEAUMONT, TEXAS: “I think it’s a great opportunity. What better place to win the U.S Title then right there in Beaumont, Texas. I think he’s been on a bit of a hot streak. I don’t even think anyone’s beaten him thus far.”

ON THE EMOTIONS GOING THROUGH HIS DAY OF WRESTLEMANIA: “It’s unlike anything else in the world. Our first one one was in New York/New Jersey and last year down in N.O. and it was awesome and just the whole tour, the whole week we get to do a lot of different things at Axxess and do a lot of meet and greet and signings with the fans. So, to have. To be able to interact and hang out and have a lottle time not only with the fans but your family it’s almost like a bit of a vacation up until it’s time tomkind of get your game face on and remember why you’re there. To perform on the grandest stage of them all. For us it was cool because you can feel all those people and you know they’re out there. Fortunately for us, going through the crowd we legitimately got to walk through them.”

ON HIS FAVOURITE MATCH AND FANTASY OPPONENT HE’D LIKE TO FACE: “Yea, i’d have to say my favourite match wzas the first Wyatt match we had on pay per view. I still haven’t watched ot back. I want to leave it to what I remember. The vibe and the emotion we had out there. The reponse. The manipulation of the crowd just going in and out of stuff. All the different chants and things like that. It was an unbelievable match. Also, I gotta say for me personally. I really dig my match I had with Randy Orton at Summerslam. I thought we did some pretty cool stuff especially down towards the end of the match. Incredible exchanges, signature moves and stuff like that. He had an RKO caught me out of the Superman Punch no one’s ever done that and that just speaks to the type of competitor that guy is and not only that I had enough in me to beat a guy like that.”

ON FEELING PRESSURE BEING THE AMBASSADORS FOR NXT ALONG WITH DEAN AMBROSE AND SETH ROLLINS: “I don’t know if it was extra pressure. There’s always pressure. Pressure almost becomes like another emotion. Most people are happy, sad, angry just all the different emotions you can feel and pressure is just one of them. That time I’m alive. If i’m not nervous or feeling butterflies then like what am I doing. For me, it was a cool responsibility to be given, to take on. I think that’s just part of the process. Being the first few to come out of NXT, we felt it but everyone behind us all the way from The Wyatts to Rusev and the list is just going to continue to go on. You’ve got great talent down there that are going to come up and make a big name for themselves. The Ascension, sami Zayn, Adrian Neville. There’s even newer guys, international stars from the independant scene so it’s a good time to be a wrestling fan.”

ON HIS REACTION TO BEING NAMED SUPERSTAR OF THE YEAR: “To be honest I was shocked. I didn’t even look at it like I was going to win. I was in The Shield for a little bit of the year. When I came out of there, I came out with a rocket on me and I was able to do some cool stuff with the Rumble and Survivor Series. What you saw on live TV, was what I was going through at the time.”

  • Jim Ross Predicts World Title In Rusev’s Future, Says CM Punk Isn’t Coming Back

The following are highlights of a new website Q&A update by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On CM Punk: “Cash and creative strikes again and Punk isn’t the first nor will he be the last to leave a wrestling promotion in less than favorable circumstances. Sounded like Punk was burn out, banged up and needing a sabbatical. I’d say his wresting days are over.”

On Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania: “LT needed the money…Bam Bam was a great booking because of his skill set and professionalism. I think that Pat Patterson and Tom Pritchard worked with both men a great deal. No backstage ‘heat’ or no controvsersey…great performance by both men considering what their role was on the biggest show of the year.”

On whether or not he’ll attend the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia: “Not sure but not at this time. I will watch it nonetheless.”

On Rusev’s future: “Some day Rusev will be WWE Champion or so I feel. Might be sooner than we think.”

  • Ranking Every 2014 Pay-Per-View (Part 2/2)

As promised, here are the top pay-per-view events from 2014.

    8. NXT Takeover

    nxt-takeover-poster-ses-1

This event started off sluggish but certainly ended with a string of entertaining matches. In particular, the match between Tyler Breeze and Sami Zayn featured solid in-ring work and highlighted why both of these guys could succeed if given the opportunity.

The real treat during this pay-per-view, however, was the final two matches of the evening. The match between Charlotte and Natalya for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship was probably the most technically sound women’s match I’ve ever seen, and the main event between Neville and Tyson Kidd was the perfect way to end the show. In my opinion, this was the event that made fans realize NXT is more than simply a developmental league for the main roster.

Worst Match: Adam Rose vs. Camacho

    Best Match: Charlotte vs. Natalya

    7. Payback

    payback

There was some worry heading into this one, largely due to the absence of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The event would carry on just fine without the title, however. It started off strong with a bruising contest between Sheamus and Cesaro.

From there, the Last Man Standing match was entertaining, even if it would have been nice to see Wyatt pick up the victory. With that said, this pay-per-view is all about the main event. It was an awesome 30-minute affair that featured memorable spots, brutal action, and a decisive Shield victory. This was also important because it would set up Seth Rollins’ heel turn the next night on Raw.

Worst Match: Bo Dallas vs. Kofi Kingston

Best Match: The Shield vs. Evolution

  • Ranking Every 2014 Pay-Per-View (Part 1/2)

2014 is coming to a close. Aside from two episodes of Raw that most likely be forgettable, fans have seen everything the WWE has to offer this year. Here is a look back at all 16 pay-per-views (including NXT), with each event ranked and summarized.

    16. Battleground

    20140703_Article_Battleground

This event took place during July, and boy was it a hot mess. The opening contest between the Usos and Wyatt Family was money, but it was downhill from there, as fans were subjected to one dud contest after another.

The biggest mistakes involved advertising a Rollins/Ambrose match that didn’t take place, and using the same predictable ending sequence during the main event. Overall, this was completely forgettable and easily the worst pay-per-view of the year.

Worst Match: Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

Best Match: The Usos vs. The Wyatt Family

    15. TLC

    tlc-2014

The final pay-per-view of the year was certainly not the best the company has to offer. Overall, this event suffered from a thin roster and overcomplicated booking. Like many pay-per-view events, it started off strong before derailing.

Ziggler and Harper stole the show during the opening contest. However, lame gimmicks (Stairs/Chairs Matches) and cheesy endings (Wyatt/Ambrose, Cena/Rollins) really held this event back and prevented it from being a success.

    Worst Match: Ryback vs. Kane

Best Match: Dolph Ziggler vs. Luke Harper

  • VIDEO & PHOTOS: The Bunny Without His Mask On Caught In Backstage WWE Video

After being attacked by Rusev on Tuesday’s live edition of WWE SmackDown, Ryback was helped to the backstage area by WWE officials. While he’s being helped to the back, there is a quick shot in the background of the person who played The Bunny, believed to be Hunico (aka Sin Cara) without his Bunny-mask on.

WWE has since edited the video to remove the shot of The Bunny sans-mask in the background, however it has been re-uploaded by a fan to YouTube in a video that you can check out below.

    – The official WWE website has announced that tonight on Raw, Chris Jericho will host “The Highlight Reel” with special guests, United States Champion Rusev and Lana.

This news was confirmed in the Raw Five-Point Preview, which states, “Chris Jericho’s back to run Raw this week, following Daniel Bryan and the Anonymous Raw GM as the latest Superstar to fill The Authority’s power vacuum. With power at his disposal and plenty of former friends and foes to play with, Jericho has already arranged for U.S. Champion Rusev and Lana to appear on “The Highlight Reel.” It’s anybody’s guess as to exactly what The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla has planned for the Russians, and the rest of the WWE Universe, but it’s likely to be something we’ll never, eeeeeeever expect, or forget. What else does Y2J’s have up his sleeve?”

    – While WWE no longer publishes WWE Magazine, the company will apparently continue to put out special issues. Joey Styles revealed on Twitter this afternoon that a “Collector’s Edition” magazine highlighting the best photos of the year is now out on newsstands.

    – In the latest edition of Ringside or Riot with Noelle Foley—daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley—Noelle reviews her dad’s documentary I Am Santa Claus, gives her take on CM Punk joining UFC, and reveals who she thought should have won the Slammy Awards.

  • Pros and Cons: TLC 2014

TLC came and went last night, leaving behind a trail of broken tables, dented chairs, and fried television monitors. There were plenty of highlights last night, but the company certainly took a few missteps as well. Overall, here are the pros and cons from last night’s TLC pay-per-view.

    Pros

Screen shot 2014-12-15 at 11.44.28 AM

The show got off to a hot start last night with the ladder match. Ziggler and Harper really gave everything they had, as both were men were bruised and bloodied by the end of the contest. There were a number of memorable spots (especially when Harper catapulted Ziggler into the ropes with the ladder), and overall, it ranked up there with some of the best ladder matches in company history. Amazing way to start the show, and unfortunately for WWE, the rest of the show paled in comparison.

Screen shot 2014-12-15 at 11.45.14 AM

Ambrose and Wyatt also put on an amazing show. This was about as brutal as it gets during the PG era, with Ambrose leaping from the top of a ladder to drive Wyatt through a table on multiple occasions. It was also nice to see the company have the confidence to let these guys close the show, although the ending was less than desirable (more on that later).

Screen shot 2014-12-15 at 11.45.31 AM

As expected, Damien Mizdow was over big time with the crowd, with the fans even booing Miz in his hometown of Cleveland in favor of Sandow. I couldn’t help but crack up when Mizdow started emulating the half crab on the apron. The guy has major star potential, and he and the Miz play perfectly off of one another.

Although the booking was atrocious, Rollins proved why he is a future star during his match with John Cena. Join me in the “Cons” section to read more about this one.

Screen shot 2014-12-15 at 11.56.22 AM

Finally, I thought it was a decent decision to have Nikki Bella retain the title, and honestly, it was far from being the worst match of the night. It seems like the company has being playing hot potato with the Divas Championship since AJ Lee’s long title reign ended so it’s nice to see the title stay around someone’s waist for more than a month.

  • WWE Bringing Back The European Championship For Rusev & Lana?

    0fRGkkD

It looks like WWE is bringing back the retired European Championship for Rusev and Lana.

Lana posted a photo of the old European title on her official Instagram page earlier this weekend. The photo featured the title with the new WWE logo on it. Soon after posting it, Lana quickly deleted it. The post featured a caption which included a “#RAW” hash-tag.

The WWE European Championship was retired back in 2002.

  • TLC 2014 Preview and Predictions

The final pay-per-view of 2014 is only a few hours away, and there should be enough tables, ladders, and chairs to fill a large dining hall. (I’m not entirely sure that I’ve seen a ladder in a college dining hall, but whatever.) The card will feature a total of nine matches, including a main event featuring Seth Rollins and John Cena. With that said, here are my predictions for this Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view.

The New Day vs. Gold and Stardust

Screen shot 2014-12-13 at 5.29.35 PM

The New Day hasn’t done much since returning from a brief hiatus, as they’ve been largely relegated to SmackDown and other programs that aren’t worth watching. However, they’ve looked impressive the few times they’ve been on Raw and all three are above average workers. The New Day has more to gain from a win here, so I’m expecting Big E finish off Stardust after hitting the Big Ending.

Winners: The New Day by pinfall

    Ryback vs. Kane (Chairs Match)

Screen shot 2014-12-13 at 5.29.49 PM

Each December, fans can usually look forward to a Chairs Match at TLC. It’s like receiving a Christmas gift you didn’t request or care to receive. You put a smile on your face, do your best to enjoy it, but nine times out of ten, it ends in disappointment. This year’s edition should be no different. Nobody would want to see these guys square off in a singles contest, and throwing a few chairs into the mix will do little to save it. Ryback will win after a “brutal” match where the two exchange chair shots to the back for ten minutes.

    Winner: Ryback by pinfall

The Miz and Damien Mizdow (Tag Team Champions) vs. The Usos

Screen shot 2014-12-13 at 5.30.48 PM

This contest should be an entertaining way to fill ten to fifteen minutes of the midcard. Mizdow is perhaps the hottest thing in WWE right now, so I expect he and the Miz to go over. However, it likely won’t be without some dissension. Overall, this should be an entertaining contest with a lot of back and forth action. If booked correctly, it should advance the tension between Miz and Mizdow, hopefully leading to a payoff at WrestleMania.

Winners: The Miz and Damien Mizdow by pinfall

  • WWE TLC 2014: Solid on Paper

Last night on Raw, the WWE handed out some shiny plastic hardware, and more importantly, finalized the card for this Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view. With CM Punk badmouthing WWE before signing with UFC, and Brock Lesnar sitting at home while the title collects dust, it seems like the most exciting WWE-related action these days is taking place outside of the squared circle.

With that said, TLC actually looks like a solid pay-per-view on paper, especially considering it’s another event without a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.

Ziggler has performed well in ladder matches during his career. Will the Show Off steal the show on Sunday?
Ziggler has performed well in ladder matches during his career. Will the Show Off steal the show on Sunday?

In general, gimmick pay-per-views can be pretty lame. With events such as Elimination Chamber, Hell in a Cell, TLC, and Extreme Rules, the stipulations often seem forced and predictable (Money in the Bank is the only exception). However, it seems like the gimmick could be highly beneficial this time around.

This is due to the fact that most of the matchups would be forgettable without a special stipulation. Take Ryback vs. Kane for example. Nobody wants to see a washed-up Libertarian and supposed steroid user battle in a regular singles contest; that’s the same garbage fans are served up every week on Raw. However, if the two are going to beat the hell out of each other with chairs, it increases the possibility (albeit slightly) that fans will remain interested.

The same holds true for Dolph Ziggler and Luke Harper. They are two of the better workers in the company, and they’d undoubtedly put on a great show without any gimmick at all, but the ladder match stipulation gives them the opportunity to completely steal the show.

Not only will the midcard benefit from the TLC gimmick, hardcore stipulations were necessary at the top of the card to get this event over with the fans. In particular, the tables match between John Cena and Seth Rollins should be one of the highlights of the night, as Cena will attempt to remain number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

  • Possible Spoiler On Two Title Matches Being Announced Tonight For WWE TLC PPV

Rusev vs. Jack Swagger for the WWE United States Championship and Nikki Bella vs. AJ Lee for the WWE Divas Championship are expected to be announced on tonight’s RAW for this coming Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view.

As noted, tonight’s RAW is the “Slammy Awards” themed edition of the show hosted by actor Seth Green, but is also the “go-home” edition of the show for Sunday’s pay-per-view.

  • Jack Swagger Responds To Vince McMahon Saying The Locker Room Is Not Ambitious Enough

Jack Swagger was interviewed by Mike Jones of DC101 on Monday and commented on a number of topics, including Vince McMahon telling Steve Austin that the Attitude Era roster was more ambitious than today’s Superstars. Here are the highlights:

Vince Saying The Locker Room Is Not As Ambitious As The Attitude Era:

“This is an environment where literally hundreds of thousands of people want to be on this roster, and there’s what, 75 of us on top? To get here you have to be very ambitious but to stay here you need even more. It takes a lot of drive and a lot of hard work. I can only speak for myself that I have gotten hungrier. As far as the rest of the locker room, you know, it’s tough but you gotta see the finish line and sometimes that’s hard to do.”

    The Wrestlers Training At NXT:

“I know they’re training hard, otherwise they wouldn’t be there. They have a sign on the wall that says ‘When one comes in, one has to go out.’ It’s very cutthroat down there and I know that they wouldn’t be there unless they wanted it.”

    His Feud With Rusev:

“We had a very memorable matchup back in the summer, finishing up at Summerslam. And then last week he tried to go after Slaughter, now week he got Zeb. It’s time to stop all the jokes, stop all the talking and get down to who is tougher, and I got a feeling America will come out on top.”

  • Confirmed Matches For This Week’s WWE Main Event & WWE SmackDown

    – On this week’s edition of WWE’s “Cyber Monday” edition of RAW, a big match was announced for this week’s edition of WWE Main Event, which airs live on the WWE Network on Tuesday night. In singles action, Jimmy Uso of The Usos and The Miz of The Miz and Damien Mizdow will collide in one of the feature matches on the show.

    – Also announced on the “Cyber Monday” edition of RAW was one of the main events for this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown, which airs in the United States on the SyFy Network. In singles action, WWE United States Champion Rusev will go one-on-one with “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose.

    – It was announced during the post-Survivor Series edition of WWE RAW on Monday night that one of the key matches on this week’s edition of WWE Main Event, which airs live Tuesday night on the WWE Network, is Kane vs. Dean Ambrose.

    – Also on Monday’s RAW was the return of WWE Hall Of Famer Sgt. Slaughter. Slaughter took part in a segment where Rusev and Lana were forced to recite the “Pledge of Allegiance.” They never actually did so, as Rusev tried bullying Slaughter until Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter came to the rescue.

Survivor Series is mere hours away at this point. This baby is totally free, so anyone paying for this pay-per-view is doing it all wrong. In total, there are five matches on the main card, including a traditional Survivor Series tag team main event. Without further ado, here are my predictions for tonight’s Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Fandango (with Rosa Mendes) vs. TBA

Although Fandango’s opponent has yet to be announced, I’d put my money on Adam Rose serving as the punching bag. The match will likely be used to further tension between Adam Rose and the Bunny, while also allowing Fandango to pick up a victory in his return to action.

    Winner: Fandango by pinfall

Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi, and Natalya vs. Paige, Cameron, Layla, and Summer Rae (Divas Elimination Match)

This will be similar to last year’s Divas elimination match in that it will be total waste of ten minutes (and if we’re really lucky, we might get to see it again on Raw tomorrow!). This could go in many directions, but my guess is that Paige’s team wins after last eliminating Natalya.

Winners: Paige, Cameron, Layla, and Summer Rae by pinfall

  • One Year Ago: WWE Survivor Series

We are just days away from the WWE’s latest pay-per-view, Survivor Series. At last year’s event, Randy Orton defended his championship against the Big Show in a highly criticized main event. This time around, it will be John Cena risking his job in an attempt to slay the Authority.

The shelf life of a WWE superstar can be short, so it’s always important for competitors to make the most of their time in the ring, especially at pay-per-views. Here is a look at the superstars who have progressed, regressed, or remained stagnant over the past year.

    Progression:

    Luke Harper

    luke-harper

Harper has made tremendous strides over the past year. He and former partner Erick Rowan were destroyed by Daniel Bryan and CM Punk at last year’s Survivor Series. He walks into this year’s event as a surprise Intercontinental Champion, and is booked into the main event with Team Authority. Harper’s stock is definitely on the rise.

    Ryback

It appears the company is once again fond of Ryback. The Big Guy was basically buried in the midcard after his feud with John Cena last year, including a quick defeat at the hands of Mark Henry last year at Survivor Series. He has been the focal point of WWE television over the past few weeks, so it will be interesting to see where they go from here. One can hope that this isn’t simply a stopgap measure until guys like Reigns and Lesnar get back on television.

    Honorable Mention: Ambrose/Rollins

It’s difficult to talk about progression without mentioning the former Shield brothers. These two were destroyed last year in a match whose only purpose was to get Roman Reigns over as a singles competitor. (Dean Ambrose was eliminated 2 minutes into this match and Rollins eventually stepped aside so the Spear party could commence.) What difference a year makes, however. Rollins is the leader of Team Authority and arguably the star of the main event, while Ambrose has elevated himself and will attempt to solidify the midcard on Sunday.

  • Update On Rumor Of AJ Lee Leaving WWE, Team Cena vs. Team Authority Hype Video, Rusev & Lana

    – Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com mentioned during Sunday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live that there’s a rumor going around in WWE that AJ Lee could be parting ways with the organization shortly after Survivor Series on Sunday. Dave Meltzer, however, says in this week’s issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter-published Wednesday on F4WOnline.com-that the rumor is not true.

“By the way, contrary to some rumors, she is not leaving,” Meltzer noted in his recap of Nikki Bella’s “exhibition” against Brie Bella on Raw-Brie was dressed as Lee.

    – The official YouTube account of WWE released this video hyping the Team Cena vs. Team Authority Match at Survivor Series.

    – Rusev and Lana were in attendance at Wednesday’s Orlando Magic vs. Los Angeles Clippers game at the Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida.

  • Jim Ross Blog: TNA’s New TV Deal, Survivor Series, Brock Lesnar Returning To MMA

The following are highlights of a new Jim Ross blog:

On TNA’s new television deal: “Congrats to @ImpactWrestling for securing a new cable TV home beginning in January and partnering with Destination America TV owned by Discovery Communications. I’d expect TNA to be able to provide more programming throughout the year for this network. I will admit that I’ve not watched a great deal of programming on this network but I easily found it on my cable provider which is Cox Communications here in Oklahoma. If wrestling fans remain as they have been over the years they will find the network and support Impact Wrestling which I plan to do. Why? Because I’m a wrestling fan and many of my friends are employed there. When the show debuts it will find it’s place on my weekly DVR list.”

On Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series PPV: “I’d be shocked if Ryback isn’t highlighted Sunday as he appears to be the “next man up” as WWE continues to seek the right talent at the right time to connect with their audience.

One could also assume that Rusev will be carefully presented Sunday which comes as no revelation.

Curious to see how the Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt pairing is structured. Will it be a brawl or will it feature some wrestling? Nonetheless, it’s a fantastic opportunity for both men and the outcome, if presented properly, won’t hurt either talent. whether they win or lose. I certainly hope that a winner is derived out of it and not a DQ or Countout. Those finishes have become increasing flat on all wrestling TV shows and it helps all involved to have a winner and a loser via pin or submission more than to leave the issue flat with a too often used out….with the uncreative “let’s throw it out” finish. Just my two cents…”

On Brock Lesnar potentially returning to MMA: “If you listen to my podcast you know that I’ve often times mentioned how big a fan of Brock Lesnar that I am to the degree that I’m not sure that Brock isn’t the the most gifted athlete that WWE has ever signed but that he was also a smart businessman and a competitive, alpha male in his daily life. With those things said, I also said I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brock return to UFC now that his health issues are behind him. Lesnar used the same reasoning to leave WWE the first time to try out for the Minnesota Vikings. He’s a competitor who loves challenges along with a nice, fat pay check. With the Vikings the pay check wasn’t his primary motivator but instead it was the challenge of making a NFL team after not playing football since high school in Webster, South Dakota. If Brock is presently undecided on what he’s going to do, it leaves WWE in a quandary as it relates to the centerpiece of their company, the WWE World Title. I would not be shocked to see Brock return to the UFC while he’s still young and healthy enough to compete at the highest level. If that decision is imminent, it certainly could make the Royal Rumble even more interesting. Interesting days lie ahead for WWE and their primary championship.”

  • Final Members For “Team Cena” And “Team Authority” Announced

During a match between Big Show and Sheamus on Monday’s WWE Survivor Series “go-home” edition of RAW, which featured interference from Rusev and Mark Henry, Sheamus was “injured” and is now no longer part of “Team Cena” in the traditional elimination match main event for this Sunday’s pay-per-view.

This led to the main event “contract signing” between Team Cena and Team Authority. While no contracts were actually signed, all members of the now five-on-six elimination match for this Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view was announced.

Team Authority will feature Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev, Luke Harper and Cesaro.

Team Cena consists of John Cena, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan and Ryback.
