  • Update On Lana’s Backstage Heat

The heated Twitter exchange between Paige and Lana has been a point of discussion within WWE this week. Lana accused Paige of bullying her while the two were in NXT together, while Paige denied the claim and said Lana is just hungry for fame. Summer Rae and former NXT creative assistant Rob Naylor both came to Paige’s defense.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials aren’t happy with Lana, and she apparently has even more backstage heat due to the Twitter war with Paige. WWE has reportedly been upset with Lana ever since she went public with her engagement to Rusev, as they felt it ruined their television storyline with Rusev and Summer Rae. After Lana posted about her engagement to Rusev, the WWE.com team was instructed to turn the real-life situation into an angle, feeling that was the way to go about covering things up and convincing fans that it was just part of a storyline.

Prior these incidents, Lana was one of Vince McMahon’s favorite young talents. Whether or not that is still the case after all of the drama remains to be seen.

Engaged WWE couple Rusev and Lana, both of whom are currently away from WWE due to injuries, are on vacation in Europe. Here are some photos of them in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Rusev’s home town:

  • Bret Hart Selling His Home, Which WWE Star Would Make Best MMA Fighter?, Heenan

    – According to the L.A. Times, WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart is selling his home in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The asking price for the property is $705,000, which is down from the $725,000 they were asking for back in May. Hart originally paid $675,000 back in 2004 for the home, which is 2,064 square feet of living space, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a wet bar, a center-island kitchen and a personal office.

    – Former WWE star Tyler Reks turned 37 today. In other wrestling birthdays today, WWE Hall Of Famer Bobby “The Brain” Heenan turned 71 years old.

    – A new poll on WWE.com asks fans which Superstar would make the best MMA fighter. Topping the list is Roman Reigns with 1,000 votes, followed by Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Kofi Kingston, Dean Ambrose, Daniel Brian, Kevin Owens, King Barrett, Neville and Rusev. You can vote on the poll at WWE.com.

  • Update: WWE Confirms Rusev’s Injury & How Long He’ll Be Out, Rusev Comments

WWE.com has confirmed that Rusev did in fact sustain an injury at Tuesday’s WWE Main Event tapings:

“Rusev sustained a proximal bicep tendon rupture during his match with Neville at the WWE Main Event tapings Tuesday night, WWE.com can confirm. The match was called due to the injury, and the former U.S. Champion’s recovery time is currently slated at three to four weeks.”

    Rusev also tweeted:

Original Story: Last night, most talk on social media about the WWE SmackDown and Main Event tapings in Phoenix, Arizona centered around what looked like an injury to Rusev. His match with Neville was stopped when he suffered some kind of arm or shoulder injury. Afterwards, he menaced the timekeeper for ringing the bell, and nobody was completely sure if it was part of the storyline or not.

The latest information to come out since then is not good, as multiple sources have told PWInsider’s Mike Johnson that Rusev suffered a torn bicep. WWE has yet to officially confirm that there was any kind of injury. As for the shenanigans after the match, Johnson speculated that it was all a work to fill time lost when the match was cut short by the injury.

This is another bad setback for Rusev, as he just had his long-term storyline with Dolph Ziggler, Lana, and Summer Rae ended abruptly after his real-life engagement to Lana went public. That program transitioned him from a killer heel feuding with John Cena to more of a comedy character.

  • Summer Rae Joining Team Bella?, Update On Rumors Of Tommaso Ciampa To WWE

    – After several NXT TV appearances this summer and fall, top independent wrestling star Tommaso Ciampa may have finally signed a deal with WWE. Ciampa indicated that he had in fact signed after working a PROGRESS Wrestling show in London recently. Tommaso is set to return to NXT on November 29th to face Marty Scurll as NXT General Manager William Regal set the match in the storyline. It’s worth noting that despite the rumors, F4WOnline.com is reporting that Ciampa has not officially signed a WWE contract as of Sunday.

    – During a Twitter exchange today, The Bella Twins spoke to Summer Rae, teasing a possible addition to Team Bella. As noted previously, there’s also rumors that Summer will be managing Tyler Breeze when he comes to the main roster, which is expected to happen imminently. Summer is obviously in need of a new role now that she has parted with Rusev in the current storylines.

  • Update On NXT Star Injury Rumors, Lana Hangs With Former Roommate (Photo), Maryse

    – Former WWE Diva Maryse is currently filming an action-horror movie called “XP-573” with actor Joey Lawrence in Los Angeles, California. The movie is scheduled for a June 15, 2016 release. Below is a photo of Maryse on the set.

    – As noted recently, Colin Cassady was at the NXT meet and greet in Tampa, Florida on crutches on Friday. Cassady was involved in an injury angle on the show that some believe to have been a real injury. Whether or not Cassady was using the crutches to sell the injury angle or because he is legitimately injured remains to be seen. Below is a photo of Cassady on crutches at the meet and greet this past Friday.

  • Report: Rusev May Be Facing Backlash From WWE Creative

After suffering a quick loss at the SmackDown tapings, F4WOnline.com now reports that Rusev will have an “interesting” week ahead of him and may face creative backlash. • Dolph Ziggler Possibly Turning Heel Soon Due To Lana/Rusev Engagement News

With Dolph Ziggler on his own again after separating from Summer Rae in WWE storylines, WrestlingObserver.com reports that a heel turn is likely in his near future.

The TV storylines saw Summer Rae thinking of leaving Rusev for Ziggler, before proposing to Rusev on the 10/5 episode of RAW. News of the real-life engagement between Lana and Rusev hit the web the same week Summer Rae proposed to Rusev on Raw. In the eyes of WWE management, this “screwed up” their storyline. WWE.com interviewed Ziggler before this week’s Raw and seemed to indicate that Ziggler was done with the Summer Rae storyline.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Vince McMahon was not happy the real-life engagement news hit the web, even though he knew TMZ would eventually cover it. Fans were able to figure out the engagement before the TMZ story because photos got out on social media showing Lana with an engagement ring on her finger.

Ziggler will be feuding with Cena for the U.S. title, and with Cena only having two TV dates left before taking time off, it appears he will drop the belt to Ziggler on one of those two dates. According to WrestlingObserver.com, one idea being tossed around is that Summer Rae may help Ziggler win the title to kick start his heel turn. They could then feud with babyface Rusev and Lana.

  • Lana Comments On Her Engagement To Rusev

WWE.com caught up with Lana on Monday afternoon after TMZ broke the news that she is engaged to Rusev. The revelation of Lana’s engagement to Rusev in real life as they are feuding on television has lead to WWE acknowledging the relationship and wrapping up the angle with Ziggler and Summer Rae.

    Lana told WWE.com:

“It’s very obvious Rusev proposed to me. If you watched Rusev and Summer, Rusev has always loved me. He was just so devastated about me picking Dolph that he went with Summer to make me jealous. But at the end of the day, we know we’re good for each other.”

“I am from the former Soviet Union; Rusev grew up in Bulgaria, and one common thread they teach you there is to survive. The winters get very cold and they get very dark. We do what we need to do to survive. This is what is happening. We will be leaving the greatest legacy this company and the WWE Universe has ever seen.”

“Ziggler is very funny and he’s charming, but he is not The Super Athlete. With me, Rusev was the undefeated Super Athlete. He listened to what I said, he was very focused. We made each other better. He challenged me and I challenged him. Summer has made him so soft that he hasn’t won. You tell me, who is the better pick?”

  • WWE Confirms Rusev And Lana Engagement Reports

As we reported late this past weekend, WWE Superstar Rusev proposed to his longtime girlfriend Lana, as the two are now officially engaged. Rusev recently popped the question at the couples’ home in Nashville, Tennessee.

WWE acknowledged the engagement on RAW and on the company website, effectively putting an end to the Rusev/Summer/Lana/Ziggler storyline. Lana is finally back with Rusev and hopefully the whole breakup and the past several months of this angle can be quickly forgotten.

  • Plans For Rusev & Lana To Reunite On WWE TV

WWE’s ongoing storyline involving Rusev, Summer Rae, Lana and Dolph Ziggler will most likely conclude with Rusev and Lana being reunited, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The feeling behind the scenes is that both Rusev and Lana are worse off now than when they were together, which is hard to deny. Rusev remains a dominant physical force and has been pretty funny on Twitter when taunting Lana, but this angle has not done his character any favors. Lana was red hot earlier this year and really on the cusp of becoming a breakout performer before WWE stripped her of the evil Russian spokesperson gimmick that got her over.

No word on whether Ziggler and Summer Rae will wind up on television, but hopefully Rusev and Lana can rekindle the heat they had just a few months ago.

  • Update On Lana’s WWE TV Status, New Nia Jax/NXT Vignette (Video), Jim Ross

Other titles that will be up for grabs include Nikki Bella’s Divas Championship and The New Day’s tag team titles.

  • Dolph Ziggler Returns On RAW, Will Face Rusev At SummerSlam

Dolph Ziggler returned Monday night on RAW and will be squaring off against Rusev this Sunday at SummerSlam. He had been out of action for several weeks with a ‘throat injury’ (filming WWE Studios’ “6:42”) and resumed his romance with Lana and feud with the Bulgarian Brute.

Lana was ringside on commentary for Rusev’s match against Mark Henry. As the announcers talked about her recent issues with Rusev and Summer Rae, she said she’s not worried and teased she had something up her sleeve. Rusev defeated Henry in a hard fought match with the Accolade.

After Rusev and Summer Rae celebrated, Lana got into the ring, took her shoes off and began screaming at the heels. Lana pointed at Summer Rae and told her to get in the ring. She did just that. She took her shoes off, charged at Lana and got slapped in the face. Summer Rae went down hard. Lana then pointed at Rusev, who went face to face with his former manager. Just as Rusev was closing in on her, Lana looked to the entrance area with a smile.

Dolph Ziggler’s music hit and the show off sprinted to ringside. Ziggler took out Rusev with a flurry of offense and was about to deliver a superkick, before Rusev put Summer Rae in the way in cowardly fashion. Lana delivered a kick to Summer Rae’s head and Dolph Ziggler knocked Rusev out of the ring with a superkick.

The heels retreated while Ziggler and Lana celebrated in the ring. The two made out while Rusev flipped out at ringside.

Backstage, JoJo caught up with Ziggler and Lana. Ziggler said what he’s feeling right now is why this is the best job in the world. Ziggler challenged Rusev to a match at SummerSlam and declared that he’s back. Later in the show, they confirmed the match is official.

    – Becky Lynch def. Sasha Banks in Divas action in a dark match taped prior to the start of the WWE Main Event television taping.

    – Rusev def. Fandango in the first match taped for Main Event. This match basically amounted to a one-sided squash match, with Rusev picking up the “W” by way of his Accolade submission finisher.

    – Jack Swagger def. Adam Rose in singles action in the second of three matches taped for this week’s broadcast. This match was given a little bit of time, but the crowd never really got into it.

    – Stardust & King Barrett def. Mark Henry & R-Truth in tag-team action as the headline match taped for Main Event. There was more crowd heat for this match compared to the others taped for the show. After this match, the set was switched to prepare for the SmackDown television taping.
