  • Ryback Interview: Offended By Batista’s Return, Surprise Rumble Entrants & More

WWE Superstar Ryback to DirecTV.com this week to promote Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Batista’s WWE Return: “I’m offended that he’s back. I’m the one and only “Big Guy” in the WWE. I go out there each and every night. I work the full schedule. I do all the cool power moves that you don’t see anybody doing anymore. I go out there and wrestle for 30 minutes, which you don’t see a lot of 295 lb. guys doing. I take a lot of pride in being big and having a lot of endurance and doing things that not everyone can do. So Batista is back, and it’s cool from a fan’s point of view, and I know he has some lofty goals, but this is my time now. I’m not taking a backseat to anyone. So if we end up in the ring together, it would give me great pleasure to throw him right over the top rope.”

Which Surprise Royal Rumble Entrants He Wants To See: “I’m sure a lot of people would love to see Goldberg show up and spear me right over the top rope. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen. But I also heard Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts mention that he wanted to be in the Royal Rumble. Obviously, from watching him as a kid, it would be pretty cool to be in the ring and hear that music hit. Or someone like Hulk Hogan would be pretty surreal. But I wouldn’t hesitate to throw either one of them over the top rope. My main thing is going out there and winning it.”

His Dream Tag Team Partner: “There’s so many, but I’d love to be able to tag with Triple H, and not just because he’s my boss. Just from the conversations we’ve had, he’s on a whole other level. We don’t have too many guys like that left – guys like Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart. Or a guy like Christian, who I’m looking forward to coming back. There’s so much knowledge in his brain. He’s wrestled all the greats – Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, guys like that. And I really wish Edge were still here. It killed me when I was out injured and he ended up having that final match with Alberto Del Rio. He was there while I was with the Nexus and he was just such a joy to be around. He’s a good human being and just knew so much. He was always helping. Its guys like that that I wish were around still. But yeah, off the top of my head, Triple H would be pretty cool.”

He also talked about his favorite Royal Rumble memories, his experience at NXT and more.

WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler attended the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo on Thursday night from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ziggler is currently out of action after suffering a concussion during a match with Ryback on the January 6th WWE Superstars taping.

Shortly after the incident, Ryback tweeted (and later deleted):

“Forearm gave The Showoff a concussion. Excessive hand grip use n rock hard muscle is reported 2 have been the cause n has been disciplined”

WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann provided the following update on Ziggler’s condition last week:

“Dolph was evaluated by a neuropsychologist today and he had ImPACT testing performed as well as balance testing,” he said. “Fortunately all of those tests appear to be equivocal to baseline and within normal limits. His symptoms have improved significantly since the injury on Monday, so our plan right now is to have him continue to rest, and when he is asymptomatic have him start doing some light cardiovascular exercise, and if that goes OK, we will proceed with our exertional protocol.”

Update On Goldberg vs. Ryback At WMXXX, PTP TV On The WWE Network?

    – According to reports, the match WWE hoped to schedule between Goldberg and Ryback for WrestleMania XXX is said to be close to dead due to the fact that both WWE and Goldberg are far apart on the financial side of the potential agreement. However, one WWE source noted that the company hasn’t quite ruled out the possibility of a Goldberg vs. Ryback match just yet.

    – As previously reported, WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil posted a tweet on his official Twitter account expressing some excitement over good news he received regarding the WWE Network. O’Neil’s tag-team partner, Darren Young, recently posted the following update on his official Twitter account:

Ryback Backs Out Of Arm-Wrestling Challenge, WMXXX Ticket Sale Update

    – JBL recently referenced a story during commentary on WWE television regarding an arm-wrestling challenge between Ryback and Titus O’Neil. According to reports, O’Neil challenged Ryback to an arm-wrestling match, but Ryback didn’t accept. The idea was for the two to compete in an arm-wrestling match for money, with the loser donating to charity.

    – According to the latest estimates, WWE has sold approximately 55,000 tickets for WrestleMania XXX, which is considered very good at this point. The legitimate capacity for the set-up they will be using in the arena is 70,000, although WWE will likely claim a figure of 82,000 or more. The current attendance record in the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, the site of WrestleMania XXX, is 87,500 for a Rolling Stones cocert in 1981.

    Portfolio manager John Stephenson said:

“I think they’re already on the top rope after that 111% increase last year. There’s nowhere to go but down. The core business is just deteriorating. You don’t have enough young men looking at wrestling with its scripted program. You’re looking at a model that’s in decline and valuation is stupidly high.”

  • Ryback Wants To Team With Brock Lesnar, Where He Sees Himself In 5 Years

Ryback spoke with The570.com this week to promote tonight’s WWE live event from Wilkes-Barre, PA. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

If he could wrestle any WWE Legend from the past, who would it be?

“That’s a tough one. I grew up watching Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Razor Ramon and The British Bulldog (Davey Boy Smith) — if I could step into the ring with anyone of those four, it would be an absolute honor. They were heroes of mine when I was a kid.”

Who is his dream tag team partner?

“Another tough one. A guy like Brock Lesnar. I believe we are very similar breeds as far as style and intensity. I think if you tagged us together, that’s an unstoppable force that would never be beaten.”

What’s a hobby of his that might be surprising to fans?

“I am a big reader. I’m very big on the Law of Attraction, positivity and books such as The Secret. We have a very busy WWE schedule with a lot of traveling and long drives at night, but I set a goal for myself to read at least 20 books. Considering our schedule, it’s not the easiest thing to do, but I enjoy reading.”

Where he sees himself in 5 years:

“I see myself here in the WWE, hopefully leading the pack of a whole new generation of young, hungry talent traveling around the world entertaining the world like the WWE can. Id like to have some movies under my belt, work with sponsorships, charities and get my name out there. I’m excited for the future. There are big things in store for Ryback in the next five years.”

    – There is a lot of heat on Ryback backstage in WWE. Ryback has ‘earned’ a reputation for being reckless in the ring – and he displayed that once again last night when he gave Dolph Ziggler a concussion. The two wrestled in a match that was taped for this week’s episode of Superstars. Ziggler went down hard after a stiff clothesline by Ryback and his concussion is being as “not a mild one.”

CZW Star Says He’s Ready For WWE Talks Working With Ryback, Indy Issues

SESCOOPS.COM reader Phil Johnson sent along the following:

Combat Zone Wrestling Star Blk Jeez recently took some time to take part in an interview with PWMania.com. Blk Jeez spoke on several topics from his time in WWE and TNA, working with Ryback, current issues with Indy Wrestling and more. Here are some highlights from the interview:

You made appearances for both WWE and TNA, what were them experiences like?

I enjoyed my experiences with both companies. Basically, I’m at a point where being on the indies isn’t challenging enough anymore. There isn’t anything for me to accomplish on the indies. My appearances with WWE and TNA just confirmed that I have the talent, experience and maturity to make it on that level. That’s where I want to be and that’s where my talents will ultimately take me.

You had the opportunity to work with Ryback in WWE, what was it like to work in the ring with him?

Good times. Ryback was professional, safe and easy to work with.

What are your thoughts on Indy wrestling today and what could make the Indy scene better?

There aren’t enough generals left on the indies. A high percentage of the indies are full of weak minded individuals that are too scared to speak up for themselves and lack passion. Too many guys don’t take their craft serious enough in my view. Anyone that does speak up gets labelled as “unprofessional” or as a “hot head” which is ridiculous. If more people conducted themselves as businessmen, things would be better.

WWE Punishes Ryback On RAW?, Update On JR’s “Major Announcement”

    – According to one source, the reason that WWE booked Ryback to hit his finisher on Big Show on WWE RAW a few weeks back, only for Big Show to kick out and then beat Ryback moments later with his Knockout Punch, was possibly due to their frustration over Ryback using Bill Goldberg’s spear and jackhammer during a recent match without getting permission ahead of time.

We noted that the announcement involves his plans for his one-man shows coming to the United States, with New York City likely being his first stop.
