WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross sees John Cena and Ryback as the top candidates to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX. When asked on Twitter today who he believes may take on “The Deadman” at the pay-per-view event taking place next April in New Orleans, Louisiana, he stated the following:
@Ryback22 & @JohnCena on Short list.RAW5115: @JRsBBQ
Who do you think the first candidate to face the Undertaker at WrestleMania 30?!!”
Ryback has his sights set on ending The Undertaker’s famed undefeated streak, which he revealed last week during an interview with TribLIVE (to promote Monday’s Raw at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania): “One of my main goals is ending The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak. It’s something everyone has their opinion on. Some people say it’s something that should never end. I say why not? I say I’m good enough to end it, and I’m very confident in myself. I know there are a lot of people that will say otherwise, but I could care less what they say. I’m the one who wakes up every day and knows how hard I’ve worked for this. It’s something, if I don’t believe I can do it, nobody else is going to believe it.”
Meanwhile, the official YouTube account of WWE has released this 30-second highlight video of “The Human Wrecking Ball” delivering the Shell Shock.
-Former WWE Superstar Perry Saturn was introduced as a trainer during Saturday night’s WWE NXT live event in Bartow, Florida.
-WWE is continuing the “Where’s Drew?” theme for Drew McIntyre. According to various reports, this could lead to McIntyre splitting from the 3MB group and returning to his “Chosen One” gimmick. The official company Twitter account posted the following on Saturday:
“Is @TheDrewMcIntyre in #WWEAlbany? #WheresDrew”
-WWE has added a video preview of the CM Punk vs. Ryback match scheduled for this Sunday’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view on their official YouTube channel. You can check that out below:
Despite the fact that CM Punk is dealing with multiple injuries, and the feeling that Ryback is limited in the ring, the plan is for the Punk-Ryback match at Battleground to receive a decent amount of time. All signs point to the fact that the match should be kept short, but apparently that is not the case.
Additionally, while this should come as no surprise to anyone, the plan is for the Punk and Paul Heyman program to continue past this Sunday’s pay-per-view, no matter who ends up going over in the actual match.
Ryback says he has two major career milestones on his radar – ending The Undertaker’s famed undefeated streak at WrestleMania and taking on former World Heavyweight Champion Goldberg.
Speaking to TribLIVE (to promote Monday’s Raw at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), the WWE Superstar considers it a “good thing” that the topic of a showdown with Goldberg is constantly discussed by wrestling fans.
“For me, I grew up watching the guy. He came in an era and dominated. I still remember to this day being in high school and him taking on Hogan. It was during my summer baseball tournament in Mesa, Ariz. All the guys went out and I stayed back. ‘Ah, I gotta stay back because I got stuff to do.’ I stayed in my hotel room to watch Nitro and watched Goldberg take on Hogan when he defeated him for the world heavyweight championship in Atlanta. The reaction that man got out of all those people, it takes a special person to do that.
“I’d love to take on Bill Goldberg. I think it’s a match that’s going to make me a lot of money. It’s going to make him a lot of money. It’s a match the WWE Universe want to see. I said recently that if people keep chanting his name at me, they’re going to make me a ton of money. WWE’s going to want to bring in Bill Goldberg to face Ryback.”
Despite his interest in facing Goldberg, Ryback does not consider it his “dream match.” Rather, it is facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania and ending the streak.
“No, one of my main goals is ending The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak. It’s something, if I don’t believe I can do it, nobody else is going to believe it,” said the former Skip Sheffield.
“I talked to him (The Undertaker) last year at WrestleMania. He made a comment to me. We were down by the ring somewhere and he said ‘I hear you’re doing some interviews and saying you want The Undertaker.’ I said ‘You’re damn right I do.’ That’s all it was. Whether it happens this year or the year after, I don’t know.
“Whatever the WWE asks of me, I will do because they are my employer. I give them everything I have because I have a love and passion for this and there is no ego involved. The Undertaker is definitely another one for WrestleMania. There is no bigger for me. The streak has become its own attraction. If that’s a possibility, I’m there.”
Ryback also reveals what he would be doing if he wasn’t wrestling, his reaction to discovering he would be working alongside Paul Heyman, and what he plans to do to become WWE’s premiere Superstar. The full interview is available here.
– The Undertaker could return to WWE programming for Survivor Series or the Royal Rumble, depending on his health. He had agreed to appear at SummerSlam in a tag team match alongside Kane against The Shield, but was injured when the nefarious group slammed him through a table in a post-WrestleMania angle and has not appeared since. Some creative ideas were presented to him when he met with Triple H last week, but as noted, his return will hinge on how he physically feels.
As reported recently, both he and wife Michelle McCool recently paid a visit to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. Of some who saw her, they feel she looks better now than when she regularly appeared for WWE.
– WWE fans in India showed up in droves to see Ryback at the Oberoi mall in Mumbai for the WWE 2K14 pre-order launch. The official YouTube account of WWE has released this video of the former Skip Sheffield receiving a rousing ovation.
– The official WWE website has issued a poll asking fans whether they would accept an invite to be a “Paul Heyman Guy.” Of the over 9,000 people who have voted, 57% say they would not accept an invite.
– On Monday’s Raw, it was teased that Paul Heyman wanted to marry Ryback after being “saved” by the former Skip Sheffield at Night of Champions. Instead, Heyman proposed that he become the latest “Paul Heyman Guy.” Vince McMahon was behind a shock tactic taking place on the program, as he made it clear to members of the writing staff that they feature “a spectacle” to lure viewers of ESPN’s Monday Night Football away during halftime. An unnamed creative writer then pitched the idea of teasing Heyman asking Ryback his hand in marriage.
– On the heels of Monday’s debut of Los Matadores, the official website of WWE has published a photo gallery highlighting the numerous masked individuals in the history of professional wrestling. A wide range of masked wrestlers are showcased, including Rey Mysterio, Mr. America, Sin Cara, Aldo Montoya, Blitzkrieg, Golga, The Midnight Rider, and Konnan as Max Moon.
– In recent WWE attendance figures: Sept. 27 in Denver, Colorado, drew 5,500; Sept. 28 in Dallas, Texas, drew 9,000; Sept. 28 in Huntsville, Alabama drew 4,000; Sept. 29 in New Orleans, Louisiana, drew 5,000.
– On Monday’s edition of TMZ on TV, wrestling fanatic Ryan Satin donned an “Employ Joey Ryan 2013” T-Shirt. This led to a debate over who is a bigger celebrity, Paris Hilton or Hulk Hogan.
It will be announced on this week’s WWE SmackDown that WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel will defend his title against R-Truth. Bray Wyatt also teased an appearance at Battleground, which will likely be the rumored match we reported on Tuesday with Wyatt taking on Kofi Kingston. That match, however, is still strictly a rumor at this point.

-Former WWE Superstar Mark Jindrak recently posted a tweet on his official Twitter account in response to the news that Triple H revealed in the Extras section of his new “Triple H: Thy Kingdom Come” documentary, where he talked about Jindrak being the originally intended fourth member of the old Evolution faction in WWE, instead of Batista, who ended up filling the role. Jindrak wrote:
“I wasn’t ready for Evolution at that time in my career. I was immature and Batista fit better. It was mine to lose and I dropped the ball…But since then I’ve matured and understood why I missed that chance and it’s helped me in my career which ended up in CMLL in Mexico.”
-WWE Superstar Ryback recently shared a story with the media in India while he was there doing promotional work for the new WWE 2K14 video game, about his favorite pro wrestlers growing up, and how one of them now texts him to tell him what a good job he’s doing. Ryback said:
“Growing up, I loved Razor Ramon, ‘The Bad Guy,’ I thought he was the coolest thing walking on the planet. But him, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and The British Bulldog were all interchangeable there for awhile. I liked Diesel, the big seven footer… It’s also cool because Razor Ramon – Scott Hall’s his real name – he texts me now or will call me and just says, ‘great job, keep doing what you’re doing.’ So for me, growing up he was my favorite, that’s pretty cool to me now that this guy that I grew up idolizing texts me now tells me, ‘good job.'”
Despite two matches being scheduled as post-show dark match main events for this week’s edition of WWE RAW in Biloxi, Mississippi, no matches took place after the camera’s stopped rolling on Monday night. For those wondering how the live audience was sent home after the television portion of the evening wrapped up on Monday, here’s what went down.
WWE Superstar CM Punk came out to make the save for Daniel Bryan. This led to both Ryback and Curtis Axel running down to assist Randy Orton. As the heels starting gaining the advantage again, The Uso’s and Dolph Ziggler made a run-in to help out the babyfaces. All of the faces performed their finishing moves on the heels to send the fans home happy.
For those wondering what happened before the camera’s started rolling on Monday’s RAW, check out the WWE Superstars taping results, which are up on the main page right now.

-WWE Superstar Ryback recently addressed the rumors that he and CM Punk once had a backstage altercation in WWE during an interview he did with CNN-IBN as part of his promotional work for WWE in India last week. While Ryback didn’t exactly deny the rumors, he did say he hadn’t heard them and pointed out that “everything was fine” between he and Punk. You can check the interview out online at IBNLive.IN.com.
-Part-time WWE Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently posted a tweet on his official Twitter account pointing out that after he completes filming for the new “Hercules” movie he will have been on an “intense diet” for 172 days straight. Johnson wrote:
WWE returns live to Biloxi, Mississippi on Monday night for the WWE Battleground “go-home” edition of RAW.
The main item heading into this week’s show is the Rhodes Family being “invited back to RAW” for a “business proposal” from the WWE COO Triple H. As noted, the Rhodes Family will be on RAW this week to build towards the six-man tag-team match against The Shield.
Also advertised in advance for this week’s RAW is the debut of the Los Matadores tag-team, which is the repackaged duo formerly known as Primo and Epico. After weeks of vignettes hyping their debut, Los Matadores will finally arrive on RAW in Biloxi on Monday night.
Outside of the aforementioned items, the main focus on this week’s show will be the final build towards the three previously announced WWE Battleground main events which consist of Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan for the vacant WWE Championship, the “Battleground Hardcore Rules” match between Alberto Del Rio and Rob Van Dam for the World Heavyweight Championship and the CM Punk vs. Ryback match.
The officially advertised talent roster for this week’s show includes Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Paul Heyman, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Alberto Del Rio, Rob Van Dam, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Jack Swagger, Antonio Cesaro, Zeb Colter, Damien Sandow, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, A.J. As reported Saturday evening on SEScoops.com, Ryback addressed Bill Goldberg while promoting WWE 2K14 in India as he was asked about fans chanting the name of the former World Heavyweight Champion during his matches.
“When I first started with WWE, I did not get that [Goldberg chants] right away,” Ryback said. “But then the WWE.com website actually posted an article – because people that run the website aren’t necessarily the ones at TV – and they wrote that I channeled Bill Goldberg before my matches, which is completely false. So whatever creative genius did that… a bunch of people read that article on the .COM, and the chants started a week after because of that brilliant article that was posted.
“It’s something that never bothers me, but I’m a man of my own identity and eventually the people that keep chanting it, they’re going to make me a ton of money because I’m going to have to beat him eventually. We’ll get him back and I’ll beat him.”
Goldberg was informed of Ryback’s remarks via Twitter and issued the following message: “Good luck with that…”
The following are highlights from a recent WWE 2K14 promotional interview with WWE Superstar Ryback:
On why WWE.com is to blame for the constant “Goldberg” chants he receives: “When I first started with WWE, I did not get that [Goldberg chants] right away. But then the WWE.com website actually posted an article – because people that run the website aren’t necessarily the ones at TV – and they wrote that I channeled Bill Goldberg before my matches, which is completely false. So whatever creative genius did that… a bunch of people read that article on the .COM, and the chants started a week after because of that brilliant article that was posted.”
On his feeling that he’ll eventually have a match with Goldberg in WWE: “It’s something that never bothers me, but I’m a man of my own identity and eventually the people that keep chanting it, they’re going to make me a ton of money because I’m going to have to beat him eventually. We’ll get him back and I’ll beat him.”
Following Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown, a stipulation is now official for the World Heavyweight Championship match at the upcoming WWE Battleground pay-per-view on Sunday, October 6th.

With that now known, here is a look at the official WWE Battleground pay-per-view lineup:
-Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton [Vacant WWE Championship]
-Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Rob Van Dam [Hardcore Rules For World Heavyweight Championship]

WWE Superstar Ryback recently spoke with SunHerald.com to promote next week’s episode of WWE RAW from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Here are some highlights of what he said about:
His Feud With CM Punk: “What better way than to take out C.M. Punk. He was the guy who started my downfall. That’s what you strive for: being the guy who everything revolves around.”
His Road to Success in WWE: “I had a lot of setbacks and negativity early in my career. There was a lot of criticism. You have to brush it off. It all helped me become the man that I am today. Each and every day, I wake up wanting to do my best. I’m taking it one day at a time.”
Speaking of Ryback, he won’t be on tour with WWE this weekend because he’ll be in India promoting the new WWE 2K14 video game in Mumbai.
Following the televised portion of Monday’s WWE RAW show from Chicago, Illinois, the hometown boy CM Punk came out and did the “Yes!” chant to Daniel Bryan and patted him off. Afterward, Punk cut a promo about how he felt like garbage, but that he was still here and still wanted to fight. He challenged anyone to come out to take a Chicago-beatdown from him.
Paul Heyman, Ryback and Curtis Axel all came down and surrounding the ring. Jerry “The King” Lawler then assisted Punk by handing him a kendo stick. Punk beat up Ryback and Axel with the kendo stick and then held Heyman down with his foot. He managed to blast Heyman with two shots to the back with the kendo stick before Ryback and Axel came to his rescue.
Ryback went to throw Axel into Punk in the corner of the ring, but missed, and Axel went flying out to the floor. Punk kicked Ryback down to the mat and then grabbed a steel chair. Punk hit Ryback with two hard chair-shots to the back before Ryback fled the scene.
After that, Punk set his sights on Axel. He threw Axel into the ringside barricade. The crowd then began chanting for Punk to hit Axel with his GTS finishing move. Punk blasted Axel with a steel chair and then played to the crowd before ultimately hitting him with the GTS spot that they so badly craved.
Additionally, a fan threw Punk a Chicago White Sox hoodie. Punk made a frown-face, shook his head, and threw it back. Another fan threw Punk a Chicago Blackhawks Jonathan Toews jersey, which he accepted.
-The wrestler that Ryback defeated on Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown was independent pro wrestler Jamin Olivencia. Olivencia has been working regularly, as of late, for Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) as well as the Wrestling Cares promotion.
-WWE will be holding a live RAW television show from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 2nd. This will be the company’s first visit to Oklahoma since the “retirement” of the city’s own Jim Ross.

WWE announced that injured Superstar John Cena will be a part of the upcoming live event tour in Europe, which kicks off in November. Obviously Cena will be unable to wrestle actual matches, but he will be traveling with the company and making special appearances at the shows.
Cena will be a part of the show in Munich, Germany on Saturday, November 9th. That event will be headlined by CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman and Ryback in a Handicap Match. Also announced are World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio and The Wyatt Family.
For the live events on Wednesday, November 13th in Zunish, Switzerland and Saturday, November 16th in Vienna, Austria, WWE announced Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship as the headline attraction. Also announced for both shows are The Shield and Big Show.
The following are highlights from the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:
JR on WWE Night Of Champions PPV: “Solid show with an outstanding main event is how I would describe the PPV. Thought Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton closed the show strongly and with a memorable conclusion that will hopefully garner them was water cooler talk in some circles. Bryan is a wrestler’s wrestler who has paid his dues and is an exemplary member of the WWE team and locker room. Congrats to him and hopefully he will have a long, productive reign as WWE Champion. Time will obviously tell on that one.”
JR on Paul Heyman and Ryback: “Ryback aligning himself with Paul Heyman might be the best thing that Ryback has been able to accomplish since getting healthy. If Ryback is to become a major, major player in WWE then @HeymanHustle is the man to help Ryback accomplish such.”
JR on his retirement: “I haven’t bought a rocking chair just yet in the midst of all this retirement talk. I’ve retired from WWE….but not from life. I’m being engaged by a variety of ‘suitors’ who are all presenting some interesting, potential projects to me. Until we pull the trigger on projects that I truly am passionate about and want to invest my time and energy, I will immerse myself in Oklahoma Football, the UFC, and the NFL which isn’t a bad thing for a sport’s junky.”

Based on Sunday night’s WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view, it appears as though Ryback is the new Paul Heyman client that has been rumored for a while now.
As noted previously, there was discussion internally in WWE of using an unknown from NXT as a new “Paul Heyman guy,” while the other options were moving either Ryback or Big E. Langston over to the Heyman crew. It appears that WWE is turning Langston babyface, and decided to go with Ryback as Heyman’s new client. If that is the case, you can expect it to be confirmed on RAW tonight.
For those who missed it, Ryback came to the aid of Heyman after CM Punk beat Curtis Axel in the Handicap Elimination match, which was also made a no-disqualification rules match during the Night Of Champions Kickoff Show.
-Jim Ross recently responded to allegations that WWE is promoting bullying with the recent direction of characters such as Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, as well as Ryback. JR noted, “Anyone who interprets being a TV wrestling villain to real life bullying is embarrassingly misguided.”
-WWE Hall Of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s son Colt is currently taking part in a campaign called “Warrior Dash” to help the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. For more information, visit WaysToHelp.StJude.org.
-WWE Superstar Justin Gabriel and WWE Diva Layla will be signing autographs this Sunday, September 8th, at the Connecticut Women’s Expo at the Connecticut Convention Center at 11:00AM.
-WWE Superstar Ricardo Rodriguez was at the WWE Performance Center today.
– Ryback is featured on the promotional poster for WWE’s Battleground pay-per-view event taking place on October 6 in Buffalo, New York at Niagara Center.
The official synopsis for the pay-per-view event is as follows: “The battle for dominance in WWE is just beginning. See John Cena, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, The Shield and all your favorite WWE Superstars square off at WWE BattleGround, Sunday, October 6 at 8PM ET/5PM PT, Live on Pay-Per-View.”
– Alicia Fox channels “Macho Man” Randy Savage in this photo gallery on WWE.com.
– Lanny Poffo’s limerick book released in 1988, Leaping Lanny: Wrestling With Rhyme, has been released on Kindle by Solstice Publishing.
As previously reported, Bill Goldberg appeared during Pro Wrestling Night at the Miami Marlins baseball game this weekend. Goldberg threw out the first pitch before the game, and even performed a vicious spear to Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler. Check out an animated GIF of the spear below:
Results from matches at the show were as follows:
-Koko B. Ware defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr.
-Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake defeated Mike Knox
-Harry Smith defeated Wes Brisco
-The Nasty Boys defeated Ken Anderson & Garett Bischoff
Additionally, WWE Hall Of Famers Bret “The Hitman” Hart and “The Mouth Of The South” Jimmy Hart, as well as “Leapin'” Lanny Poffo and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart appeared at the event.
And finally, Goldberg talked a bit in one of the interviews about the recent WWE and WrestleMania XXX rumors. While he didn’t rule out the possibility at some point in the future, he did shoot down the specific rumors about his supposed return at the annual classic next year. He mentioned that if he did come out of retirement for a match, he would be interested in facing off with either “Stone Cold” Steve Austin or The Undertaker, as he said he has no interest in working a match with Ryback.
