Marc Mero Has “Two Words” For Ex-Wife Sable (Rena Lesnar)

Former WWE talent Marc Mero has revealed he hasn’t spoken to his ex-wife Sable since they split.

Mero competed in the then WWF (now WWE) from 1996 to 1999. During his run in the company, he worked alongside his ex-wife Sable, who became a superstar in the 90s. The two left the company in 1999 after Sable alleged sexual harassment. She also filed a 100 million dollar lawsuit in June against the WWF for sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions, which the company and she settled in July 1999.

After some time away from the company, Sable returned to the WWE in 2003. During the time, Mero and Sable were still married until she had an affair with Brock Lesnar. The couple would get divorced, and Sable would go on to marry Lesnar years later.

Marc Mero

In an interview with Wrestling NewsCo Steve Fall, Mero shared what led to the divorce and that he has not spoken with Sable since they split almost two decades ago.

“…So she went back to wrestling, and she had to apologize to certain people. I think it was the Undertaker or Stone Cold, or certain people that Vince made sure that she apologized to because a lot of people were upset that she was coming back, and she did that and made amends and went back and had to do what Vince asked her to do,” said Mero.

He continued, “…Unfortunately, she fell in love with a wrestler while we were still married and found out about it, and that’s when I filed for divorce and moved on with my life.”

Marc Mero Holds No Grudges Towards Sable

Although Sable had an affair with Lesnar, Mero doesn’t hold any grudges against them. Mero has gone on to become a motivational speaker. This is an occupation he believes wouldn’t be possible without dealing with his life after the divorce.

“I’ve never spoken to her since then, and if I could ever say anything to her, it’s just two words, thank you.”

– Marc Mero to ex-wife Sable

If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t have this incredible life that I have today because I never would’ve been a speaker. I mean, I never would’ve gone down this route, so I think sometimes people that live with bitterness anger, or unforgiveness, man, it’s just a cancer that destroys you,” said Mero.

Sable left the WWE in 2004, and she and Lesnar went on to have children and remain married. Mero is active in his community and works with schools to help the youth as a motivational speaker.

Both Mero and Sable seem to be in a good space in their lives.

Bruce Prichard On Setting Up Sable’s Playboy Deal

In a recent edition of Bruce Prichard’s Something To Wrestle, Prichard discussed Sable’s run with WWE. One of the more interesting topics of discussion was WWE striking a deal with the famous men’s adult magazine Playboy. Sable graced the cover of the April 1999 edition of the magazine:

“We were hot at the time and the product itself was hot and Rena was — good god, Sable that character [was] one of the most downloaded females in the world,” Bruce Prichard said. “Playboy as they often or at least did back in the day would often reach out to celebrities or other people who would appeal to their audience and make that offer, ‘would you pose nude for Playboy?’

“They approached WWE about Sable and asked. There was even talk of doing the women of WWF and all that other stuff but Playboy had approached us. I don’t know all the particulars about this but usually they approach the company and since we have the talent contract we’re the ones that broker the deal and yeah the company gets a portion of that money because they’re under contract to the company.

“So I’m sure Vince looking at it and saying, ‘which of the females?’ Then approached her and asked if she would even be in interested in it if it’s something she’d consider doing and she interested in doing it so they went further on with the deal until finally it was actually done and everybody agreed on it.”

Two different photos were shot as options for Sable’s cover photo. The first was Sable being covered by nothing except a WWF Women’s Title. The other, which was eventually selected, was Sable wearing a black catsuit:

“I think it was Playboy’s choice looking at the two pictures and deciding which one was gonna sell more magazines,” Prichard said. “Not just appealing to the wrestling fan with the belt and what have you. I don’t know what the hell their thinking was behind it but I thought the cover they picked was a pretty good one.”

Enzo Legitimately Injured, Brock Lesnar Takes The Family To NHL Game

– Enzo Amore legitimately suffered a knee injury during a tag team match at the 12/30 WWE house show in Los Angeles, according to F4Wonline.com. This is why Enzo continues to use the wheelchair on RAW. There’s no timetable for his return but he’s scheduled to be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Jim Ross Blog: Lana The New Sable?, Sami Zayn/RAW, The New Day & More

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official website blog on Tuesday afternoon, posting a number of thoughts on Monday’s edition of WWE RAW. Below are some highlights.

On Dean Ambrose: “I like the fact that Dean Ambrose returns to more relevancy as he’s now in the main event of Payback along with Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns in a WWE Title bout that will feature the three former members of The Shield which speaks well to the productivity of WWE NXT. I’d love to see this be an elimination rules four way but it’s likely to be a traditional Fatal Four Way where the first man to score a pin or submission is declared the winner which means that the WWE Title holder has no championship advantage and cannot retain the title via disqualification or count out. These bouts can be feast or famine but have the potential to provide adequate drama in the expected Payback show closer.”

On The New Day: “Hopeful that New Day really studies some of the great wresting villain groups IE the Freebirds and others to ?begin to acquire the traits that will propel them to the next level. Opportunity is here for these three and with out of ring preparation and study they can become much more valuable to WWE as they are already easy to dislike which bodes well for antagonists. I’m much more encouraged by their current positioning than them being fan favorites but they n eed to learn a variety of villain nuances.”

On Lana’s rumored push: “Curious to see how this Lana/Rusev business plays out. Lana has ‘it’ and may end up being a bigger star than Rusev as stranger things have happened….see Sable and Marc Mero. I still like Rusev’s upside no matter his present creative role.”

On Bret Hart and Sami Zayn: “Thought the utilization of Bret Hart in Montreal was spot on as he gave Sami Zayn a magnificent “rub.” Zayn and John Cena had an excellent presentation that the fans genuinely cared about and it seemingly suspended the audience’s disbelief and the fans emotionally invested in their home towner who made his RAW debut. It played well on TV. Good booking.”

Vince Russo Tells Story Behind Infamous WWE Magazine Covers With Sable & Sunny

Vince Russo’s latest “What Culture” column is now available, and features his take on 10 insider stories from his days as the editor of the WWE Magazine.

Below is an excerpt from the column, which features Russo talking about the January 1998 issue with Sable and Sunny on the covers:

“If you worked the wrestling side of the WWF at the time, it was no secret to anyone that Sable and Sunny HATED each other. Now, I’ve got to be fair here, I think it was more on Sunny’s part than Sable. There is no doubt that Sunny was just flat out jealous of Sable, and quite frankly—I could never understand why? To me, they were two completely different types of women with their own appeal. Sunny was the girl next door, and Sable was the mysterious, exotic beauty. They both had their followers.

So, when I made the call to do a swimsuit edition of the RAW Magazine, and give both Sunny and Sable their separate covers—I should have known that I was in for it. I chose a picture of Sunny that was extremely sexy—I thought it put her in a spectacular light. Well—she didn’t agree. And, I found that out first hand when she came onto our floor to look at the pictures we chose. After viewing them, she grabbed them and ran to my office and screamed, “That’s not me! That’s not me!” I remember being caught so off guard at the time, that all I could do was laugh and say, “Well—if it’s not you—WHO IS IT THEN?!”

Marc Mero Speaks On His Past With Sable, Early WCW Days With HHH, DDP

The following are highlights from a recent WGD Weekly interview with former WWE Superstar Marc Mero:

On his ex-wife Sable becoming a star while he was injured: “I had blown out my knee and needed total reconstruction on my knee, I was out for eight months and in that time off was when my ex-wife became very popular, you know going out there and selling merchandise and becoming a diva and so on. Then they came up with the storyline of me being jealous of her and I’m thinking ‘wow, what a great idea.’ I know a lot of wrestlers were saying, ‘That buried you, when a girl beats you up or something your never considered anything again,’ but, you know what, all that didn’t matter. They were backing up the Brinks truck to our house, so you really look at what is really important, its entertainment, its being an actor, and I’m being paid very well for it, and now, she is getting paid very well for it. So, all in all, you look back…I have no regrets…it all worked for us, like I said, there was nothing I would change.”

On leaving WWE, the Sable lawsuit and their relationship: “Unfortunately, the ending of the WWF didn’t go well. My ex-wife had some problems with the company and their was a lawsuit. I had three years left on a guaranteed contract…and I just decided to walk away, it just wasn’t fun any more. It was just a sad part of our lives…so, we left the wrestling arena and obviously the lawsuit was settled out of court between my ex wife and the WWF…its no secret, we got divorced in 2004 and she went on to marry Brock and I married an incredible woman that I have been married to for four years. So, we both went separate ways, but you know something that is amazing, we have never said a bad word about each other. I have nothing bad to say, you think about the good memories you had together. I have never been happier than I am now with my life.”

On his early days in WCW with Triple H: “Triple H was and is a talented wrestler, he was like a student of the game, you know. I really enjoyed working with him. We wrestled each other hundreds of times, because obviously we would tour for quite a while on the road and we would wrestle each other every night, and not only that, we wrestled in WCW several times. I believe his first belt he ever won was when he beat me for the Intercontinental title. You’ve seen what he has done in his career and the amazing heights he has risen to…but he was really good to work with, very similar to “Stone Cold” in their work ethic…they can make guys that weren’t as talented, I wasn’t as talented as a Triple H or a Stone Cold, and they made our matches look fantastic…my hat is off to that guy.”

On his friendship with Diamond Dallas Page: “It is no secret that Dallas and I are still great friends today. He is by far one of the hardest working people I have ever met, bar none. Just an incredible work ethic…When we were in our program together…we would go down to the Power Plant and work on our matches and moves…then all of a sudden, I get a call at like three o’clock in the morning…I’m saying ‘oh my gosh, who is calling me at this hour?’ Of course, I pick up my phone and its Dallas and he goes, ‘hey, brother, I wanna run by a spot,’ and I am going, ‘What, Dallas, its three o’clock in the morning.’ He goes, ‘I know, but I couldn’t sleep, I had to tell you this spot I want to do’… I’m thinking, ‘Are you crazy?’ But, that was his work ethic and I will tell you something, if you are ever going to bet on someone, bet on DDP, the guy…he has got that never die attitude and he never gives up…I just have such admiration for Dallas, not only as a friend, but just as a wrestler, as a human being, an entrepreneur…believe me, DDP Yoga is going to be a household word someday, you watch.”

New Matches Confirmed For WWE SummerSlam PPV! [UPDATED LINEUP >>]

Tammy Sytch Explains Why She Never Liked Sable

WWE Hall of Famer Sunny recently spoke to Hater Nation and explained why she and former WWE Diva Sable (Rena Lesnar) never got along:

“Basically with her, a lot of people think I had a professional jealously, or that’s what the heat was about, but that completely was not the case. She had her character and her role. I had my character and my role. They were completely different. I was like the all American girl next door that you wanted to bring home to mom and marry. She was like that racy, risqué kind of a girl that you wanted to bring to a hotel room for an hour and leave her on the curb.

“We had completely different personalities, completely different characters. There was no professional jealousy at all. What it came down to is in all honesty, she’s really not a good person and that’s why I didn’t like her. She didn’t have any fans in the locker room and stuff because of her husband at the time, poor Marc. She said something in the girl’s locker room once that struck a really, really bad chord with me and Terri Runnels and from that day on, nobody had respect for her.

“Basically it was this. She used to bring her eight year old daughter Mariah on the road. I knew that Marc Mero wasn’t Mariah’s dad. So I asked her one day in the locker room in front of Terri Runnels, where’s her real dad? She said oh, you know. He died when she was an infant. He was in a car accident. I said oh my God, I’m so sorry to hear that. This was her reply and this is why I lost all respect for her. She says no, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, because if he never would have died, I never would have met Marc.

“So she said that about her husband and her baby’s father. That the best that ever happened to her was him dying so she would be able to meet Marc. And right then and there I lost all respect for the woman. I mean, that’s just the most selfish, cruel, horrible, inhumane thing to say. You should never be happy that someone that’s that important in your life died. It was just horrible.

“Terri and I looked at each other like did she just say what we think she just said? And from that day on, that’s where she kind of buried herself with her personality and in the locker room with everyone because words got spread around and nobody had respect for her.

Why The “Scratch” Logo Is No Longer Blurred, How Old Is Sable?

– For the past ten years, video content from WWE’s “Attitude Era” (1998–2002) has been edited due to a lawsuit with the World Wildlife Fund over the WWF initials. All WWF “scratch” logos and references to the initials had to be blurred or edited out. This directive has now changed, at least in part.

In regards to the former “scratch” logo appearing unaltered in video packages in recent weeks, use of the symbol in flashback sequences is permitted after the organization’s legal proceedings with the World Wildlife Fund were settled in the last quarter. However, it is unclear whether the permission extends to complete matches and other archival footage.

Meanwhile, WWE.com published a photo gallery Tuesday chronicling the long line of Presidents, Commissioners and General Managers that have ruled over sports-entertainment and a shot of Mick Foley donning a T-shirt with the WWF “scratch” logo on display is shown.

– Former WWE Women’s Champion Sable, wife of WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar, turns 45-years-old on Wednesday. Though her age has come into question over the years, Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer noted in her $110 million lawsuit against WWE in 1999 (citing allegations of sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions) that she listed herself as being born on August 8, 1967. Therefore, she was 28-years-old when she joined the sports-entertainment organization in 1996 and 35 when she returned in 2003.

Fans have speculated that with Lesnar’s renewed partnership with WWE, the legendary Diva could return to television as well. That, however, is believed to be highly unlikely. According to people close to the couple, she has absolutely no desire to return to the spotlight and is very content on being a homebody.

Kelly Kelly Says It’s Good To Be Back, WWE Removes Sable Pics

– Kelly Kelly returned to WWE programming Monday on Raw as she scored a singles match victory over Eve following a surprise hurricanrana. The WWE Diva explained how it felt to be back on Backstage Fallout.

“It feels so great, oh my gosh, I can’t even describe it,” Kelly said. “Just walking through the curtain and hearing the crowd react, ’cause I doubt they had any idea that I was coming back tonight; I didn’t make any mention of it. I just wanted everyone to be surprised and excited when I walked out and they were so into the match and they were cheering my name. I missed that so much. I’m so glad to be back, it’s been great.”

Curt Hawkins, Tyler Reks, Alex Riley and Daniel Bryan also react to Raw events.

– Less than two weeks ago, WWE.com published a photo gallery of Divas who have appeared at SummerSlam over the years, many of which featuring former Women’s Champion Sable. WWE then promoted the photo gallery on the site’s main page late last week, but with all photos of the former Diva removed.

Will Sable Ever Return To WWE?, J.R. Not Planning To “Shoot”

– Former WWE Women’s Champion Sable was backstage at Monday’s Raw 1,000 as she accompanied husband Brock Lesnar to the show. She has accompanied him to shows before to keep him company since he detests being away from his family, even for a short while.

Fans have speculated that with Lesnar’s renewed partnership with WWE, the legendary Diva could return to television as well. That, however, is believed to be highly unlikely. According to people close to the couple, she has absolutely no desire to return to the spotlight and is very content on being a homebody.

– WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who has witnessed many noteworthy events over the course of his 38-year wrestling career, was asked on Twitter whether he ever sees himself taking part in a “shoot” interview—tell-all interviews where one discusses their career and gives their opinion on other wrestlers and specific events in their past. He responded, “Nope.”

Ross also responded “no thanks” regarding whether he would be interested in overseeing TNA Wrestling.

– Tickets went on sale today for Raw on October 22, 2012 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It is the first time Raw has been held at the venue since April 19, 2010.

Rating For This Week’s Raw SuperShow, Sable Not On Twitter

– Monday’s Raw SuperShow drew a 3.28 cable rating, down from 3.42 the week before. The program averaged 4,710,000 viewers compared to 4,960,000 the week before.

Raw averaged 4,590,000 viewers in the first hour before increasing to 4,840,000 in the second.

NY Law Firm Claims $5 Million From WWE In Injury Lawsuit

The law firm of Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. issued the following press release Sunday announcing a $5 million settlement with WWE following a motor vehicle accident involving a WWE employee in 2007.

World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. Sued for $5 Million

Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. recently accepted a settlement offer of $5 million after 4 weeks of trial on behalf of a client who was injured in a low impact motor vehicle accident in downtown Manhattan. The client suffered a knee injury which resulted in surgical procedures and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 12, 2011

Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C., a leader among personal injury and medical malpractice firms in the New York area, recently settled a case (Index No 13451/08- Kimberly Benson v. World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. and Matthew T. Yackeren) for $5 million involving a knee injury caused by a low-speed, low-impact motor vehicle accident.

According to court documents, On November 2, 2007, Kimberly Benson’s car was struck in a sideswipe collision by a vehicle operated by Matthew Yackeren, an employee of World Wrestling Federation Entertainment. As a result of the low impact motor vehicle accident that occurred at a low rate of speed, Ms. Benson suffered a knee injury.

According to the case, Yackeren was driving a commercial van in the financial district of downtown Manhattan. While attempting to pass traffic, he backed up and then struck Ms. Benson’s jeep in the back driver side bumper with the side of his van. Damage to both vehicles was minimal.

Court documents show that Ms. Benson, a 41 year old mother and phlebotomy manager with a pre-existing knee injury, suffered a fracture of the cartilage in her knee and underwent several surgical procedures. In addition to the pain, degeneration of soft tissue and difficulty ambulating, Benson also developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) aka Reflex Symptomatic Dystrophy (RSD), a debilitating chronic pain condition which rendered her disabled and incapable of working.

Benson sued World Wrestling Federation Entertainment and their driver, Matthew Yackeren, for past and future medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. The case (Index No 13451/08) went to trial, and the defense argued causation- the low impact accident that occurred at such a low rate of speed could not have caused an injury.

After four weeks of trial, both parties settled the case. Benson recovered $5 million from World Wrestling Federation Entertainment and Matthew Yackeren. Andrew L. Libo, the attorney for Benson from Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C., was satisfied with the result. “Kimberly’s life and the life of her daughter will never be the same, due to this accident. We refused to settle this case before trial because we knew Kimberly deserved justice, and we were willing to fight as long as needed to ensure she was justly compensated.” The trial was conducted by Jeff S. Korek and Nicolas Bagley.
