Sami Zayn made an appearance on Mike Jones’ podcast for DC 101 where he spoke about a wide range of topics.
During the interview, he sounded off on the debate among fans on whether WWE should have a definitive roster split or WWE allow their talent to be used on both shows.
According to Zayn, he thinks the brand split should remain intact with each show having their own set of talent on the roster.
“For me personally, I prefer the distinction,” Zayn explained. “I prefer SmackDown staying there and RAW staying there. I think it is a good way for people to get more opportunities to really shine. I’m for the interweaving of the brands maybe once or twice a year like we are doing now with Survivor Series. It makes it very interesting when you see it here and there.”
Zayn noted that fans get to see the interbrand matches only at Survivor Series and seeing talent jump the line is pretty exciting. It should be noted that WWE’s latest attempt at a brand split has only been around since October.
Before that, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon came up with the idea of the Wild Card Rule earlier this year.
This was a rule where members of RAW and SmackDown can appear on the other brand. At first, only a set amount of stars could appear on the opposite brand.
However, that rule changed by the week regarding how many stars are allowed to appear on the two weekly television shows.
WWE’s shows in Saudi Arabia have been criticized for a lot
of reasons and one of them is the fact that a number of stars have not been
allowed to work the show due to their political beliefs or even descent such as
Sami Zayn.
Zayn recently had an interview with Catch Newz where he discussed things like his new partnership with the current IC Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, trying to form an alliance with Daniel Bryan and more.
When asked about WWE’s deal with Saudi Arabia and the
reports that he has been kept away from these shows because of his Syrian
origin, the former NXT Champion said that it’s a complicated thing:
“I did a show a few years ago there. But with the new
WWE partnership, I have not had a chance to perform. It’s a complicated thing,
difficult to explain. But for the moment, I can not say much and that in favor
of any side. Maybe it will change, but for now no change. It’s a complicated
answer and I do not know how to explain it. “
Sami was also asked about the electric chair segment he did during a Raw episode in May. Fans were allowed to ask him any question they liked and Zayn had made some headlines by mentioning AEW during the angle.
When asked if the WWE Officials were angry over the mention
of the rival promotion, the former NXT Star replied negatively, saying that it
was only a big story on the internet.
Apart from this, Sami Zayn also talked about his former partners Shane Matthews and Scott Parker joining NXT and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.
One WWE star is more than willing to do a favor for The Undertaker by taking him out for good and that’s Sami Zayn.
It appears that Zayn is setting himself up for an attack by the former WWE Champion. This came after The Undertaker made an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning.
He was there to preview the big-time game between the #9 Texas Longhorns and #6 LSU Tigers. Zayn responded to a clip sent out by the show regarding Taker’s entrance where he wrote that he should do the Dead Man the “favor of a lifetime” and kill off his legendary character once and for all.
I should really do The Undertaker the favor of a lifetime and take him out for good. -SZ https://t.co/ZVU8jvzDaC
It is interesting timing by Zayn as “The Deadman” is scheduled to appear on SmackDown Live in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. As of this writing, WWE has yet to announce what Taker will be doing on this show.
However, if WWE wanted to get Taker physical then the company could play on this. Time will tell what happens when he returns to the brand that he helped build for so many years.
As noted, the reason that WWE is having The Undertaker appear on this show was in hopes of boosting ticket sales that have been struggling despite the fact that it’s the first time that WWE has held TV events at MSG in the first time in ten years alongside Monday Night RAW the night before.
The wrestling world is still buzzing from All Elite Wrestling’s inaugural event, Double Or Nothing. The show has been getting rave reviews from fans and performers alike, including WWE Superstars. The AEW pay-per-view was a hot topic of conversation behind the scenes at Monday’s Raw. Many people were waiting to see if WWE would react to the event on Raw.
The biggest instance of WWE acknowledging AEW came during Sami Zayn’s “electric chair” promo. Fans in the crowd (or as WWE would say, “Sports Entertainment Enthusiasts Comprising the WWE Universe”) were encouraged to ask Zayn hard-hitting questions. No topic was off limits, which seemed like a prime opportunity for an AEW reference. When none of the fans asked about AEW, Zayn mocked them and said, “You could have asked me about AEW.” The reference got a big reaction.
Given the WWE’s usual stance on other promotions, the namedrop surprised the WWE Universe— leading many to believe that Zayn went off script and improvised the reference. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, that’s not the case. He argued that it was a scripted moment.
Co-host Bryan Alvarez disagreed, stating that the AEW reference was, in fact, improvised. While Zayn was ready to respond to an AEW question had it come up, Alvarez heard Vince McMahon was “furious” after Zayn voluntarily referenced WWE’s new competition.
“There are absolutely people who insist that Sami was given the OK to mention AEW, alright?” Alvarez said. “I’ve even heard from one person who said that in the script that went around in the morning yesterday, it was in the script that he was going to mention AEW. One person said that. I had another person say, and Dave had people tell him that it was a scripted line. Now, with that said, I heard from multiple people, far more people in fact, and people that heard from other people, that all said, the line was not scripted, the line was not supposed to be said.”
“I was also told from multiple people that when it happened, Vince flipped his lid. He was furious that this happened, OK? […] The one [theory] that people seem to think is the most likely, is that a small number of people were told that he was given the OK, and that they’re working the boys and flipping out about it,” Alvarez explained.
“[…] I wasn’t there to witness it, but I do know that the people there who absolutely 100% believed that he was very angry, that this was not him putting on a show for people, that this was not him trying to work the boys, that he was angry when this got on the air. I don’t know how to explain everything, I just know that’s what happened last night.”
Future Consequences?
WWE edited out the AEW reference in their YouTube upload of the segment. They didn’t, however, choose to do anything with their live delay. RAW airs with a 15-second delay, which would’ve given them ample opportunity to bleep or silence the name.
If Zayn did go off script, and Vince was genuinely furious as described, it is believed that Sami will have to contend with the consequences of his decision. Meltzer even suggested that Zayn could face possible suspension if that’s the case.
Sami Zayn had a wild Sunday night while working a WWE live event in Oslo at the Oslo Spektrum.
He worked two matches at this show. Early in the night, he lost to Xavier Woods in a singles match. Then, in the main event, he lost alongside Kevin Owens to WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and Woods in a No DQ Tag Team Match that ended up serving as the main event.
This is where Zayn was busted open when he was hit with a botched trouble in paradise by Kingston.

Mark Henry says Sami Zayn has the best promo skills in the game at the moment. The WWE Hall of Famer made his thoughts known on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio.
“I listen to Sami’s banter and the people are now sitting and listening like they’re in church,” Henry said. “They’re not a wrestling audience, they’re an audience. And they’re listening to him, and they’re learning from him, and he is the best promo in wrestling today. There’s no one close. Sami is giving an opinion that is so polarizing that you have to sit there and listen, even if you disagree.”
Zayn’s promos as of late have been critical of the WWE Universe.
“People are sitting and they’re not clapping, they’re not booing and hissing unless he prompts them to. They’re sitting there like, ‘Wow, he’s right.’ He’s like, ‘You point your fingers at me and wrestling, and you expect us to kowtow to every little thing that you do. And when somebody says no, you pout.’ Sami is bringing these points that nobody is talking about.”
Sami Zayn’s Critiquing of the WWE Audience
Henry believes that Zayn’s comments are striking a chord with some in the audience.
“You can’t generalize a stadium full of 20,000 people, but it hits home to a bunch of them,” Henry continued.
Henry cautioned that Zayn should be placed opposite heels, however.
“Because the people who are wrestling fans feel uncomfortable, and I love it. That’s the entertaining side of what he’s doing and I hope he continues to do that, but more than anything, you cannot put Sami Zayn in the ring with a babyface because I feel he is a babyface. You have got to put a polarizing heel in a situation with Sami Zayn.”
It appears as though, at least at one point, WWE had a feud in mind for Luke Harper.
According to Dave Meltzer on Westling Observer Radio, the former Wyatt Family member was scheduled to feud with Sami Zayn.
The details of the feud are unknown, but it’s clear that the proposed program has since been cancelled entirely.
“This Decision, As Difficult As It Was, Feels Right”
Harper received double ligament reconstruction surgery last October. Despite being cleared to return since February 6th, he has yet to be given a new televised feud or storyline.
He recently wrestled Dominik Dijakovic at WWE’s Worlds Collide event. He was also a participant in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35.
Luke has been transparent about his frustrations within the company, highlighting that his goal going forward is to “continue to grow as a performer and person” outside of the remits of WWE.
WWE, however, declined his release request. Instead, the company has enforced a six-month extension, adding the time he missed working due to his initial injury. This means that, unless anything changes, Harper will be with WWE until roughly next year’s WrestleMania in April 2020.
This could be a tactical decision on WWE’s part—much in the same way as they handled Neville’s contract. Given the upcoming All Elite Wrestling and the surge of other independent promotions, it seems WWE are content with keeping Harper close for the time being.
He may have only recently returned, but Sami Zayn is already making an impact for himself. These past few weeks have seen Zayn lambast the WWE Universe on Monday Night RAW, insulting the crowd as he has highlighted the “toxic” environment that he has returned to.
Not content with just utilizing his TV time, Sami has now harnessed his social media to continue spreading his message.
Writing via his Twitter account, he picked up his attack against the WWE Universe. He claimed it would be “SO easy to publicly rip the idiots that fill my mentions to shreds,” referring to the people reaching out to him“idiots.”
He explained that if he were to “rip” into them, he would probably get “thousands of likes, retweets & affirmations like “yaaas drag him king!” […], because Twitter is mainly scum who live for public degradation of others.”
Zayn signed off with a promise that he wouldn’t “sink to your level.” He was even kind enough to include a few Xs and Os to end the tweet.
It'd be SO easy to publicly rip the idiots that fill my mentions to shreds.
I'd get thousands of likes, retweets & affirmations like "yaaas drag him king!" for it too, because Twitter is mainly scum who live for public degradation of others.
This past Monday, Sami Zayn was the guest on Alex Bliss’ show, A Moment Of Bliss.
After soaking in the adulation from his fellow countrymen, he would compliment the city of Montreal before launching into a tirade about its citizens. He expressed how they, and the WWE Universe, should be “ashamed” of themselves for projecting their unaddressed issues, anger, and insecurities onto him—baggage he has stated he will no longer accept.
The dark match after 205 Live and Smackdown last night saw old rivals/friends square off once again. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been on different trajectories since returning to WWE but their paths crossed again last night.
There wasn’t much to the match, however, as Owens hit a quick Stunner on Sami and got the pin.
Users on social media have been posting videos of Zayn vs Owens at the Smackdown after Mania.
Kevin Owens didn’t have a match at WrestleMania 35. He let his followers on social media know that this fact has been driving him crazy.
“Full disclosure,” Owens Tweeted. “Not being on Mania is gradually driving me more and more crazy as the show gets closer so my session at Axxess on Saturday should be a real blast!”
Owens was on Smackdown briefly last night. He gave Rusev a Stunner following a 6-man tag team match.
As for Zayn, he returned on the RAW after Mania this Monday. After dropping an Intercontinental title match to Finn Balor, he cut a promo critisizing WWE fans.
Sami Zayn, who had been sidelined due to injury, has made his return to WWE television.
The former WWE NXT Champion did so on Monday’s episode of RAW in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center when he battled WWE Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor. The champion would successfully retain the strap.
In June it was revealed that Zayn underwent shoulder surgery to fix a torn rotator cuff be and would out of action through the end of 2018. Then in August, he underwent his second bi-lateral rotator cuff surgery.
Zayn was last seen when he suffered a loss to Bobby Lashley at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena on the WWE Network. MITB was the last date with the company for Zayn before he took time off.
What are your thoughts on Zayn’s return and how WWE should handle the booking involving his character? Sound off in the comment section.
Two WWE stars are set to return to in-ring action soon. Those stars are Bray Wyatt and Sami Zayn.
For quite sometime now, fans have been speculating on when they will return to WWE television whether that be before or shortly after WrestleMania 35 Week
John Pollock is reporting that Zayn and Wyatt are scheduled to return imminently. It was speculated that Zayn could be back on WWE TV by the end of the SmackDown TV event in Montreal next week, where he is from.
According to the report, WWE is scheduled to begin running vignettes for Wyatt’s return. Thus, this means that he likely won’t return on Sunday at WrestleMania 35. There will reportedly be big changes to his character, which have been in the works for a while.
Back in December, WWE hyped the return of Zayn. In June it was revealed that Zayn underwent shoulder surgery to fix a torn rotator cuff be and would out of action through the end of 2018. Then in August, he underwent his second bi-lateral rotator cuff surgery.
Since WWE decided to take him off the TV show of the red brand in August, Wyatt has been sending out cryptic messages on his official Twitter account in order to remind people that he could make his return at any moment.
Sami Zayn went out of action just a few months before Kevin Owens and with Owens back on TV, a lot of people have been wondering about Zayn’s status.
Now latest reports suggest that Sami might not be far away from a comeback and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sami Zayn is ‘ready to return’.
Zayn lost to Bobby Lashley in a one on one match during the Money In The Bank event last year and he underwent double shoulder surgery in June.
WWE started advertising both Zayn and his arch-rival Kevin Owens for events in December claiming that both the stars will be ‘coming back soon’.
Later in January, it was reported that the former NXT Champion has been seen at the WWE Performance Center and has started training for his return to the ring.
The company then proceeded with Kevin’s return by airing vigilante for his new character as your everyday guy. He finally made his comeback on WWE Programming during this week’s episode of SmackDown.
Now with the reports of him being cleared, it will be interesting to see what the company is planning for Sami Zayn and when he makes his return to the TV.
Another injured WWE Superstar has been spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida: Sami Zayn.
According to PWInsider, Zayn has been frequenting the Performance Center in order to ready himself for his in-ring return.
WWE recently ran a promo video hyping his return, though no set date was established. Sami has not competed in a matchup since his clash with Bobby Lashley. This matchup took place on June 17th, 2018 at WWE’s Money In The Bank event.
It was discovered after WrestleMania 34 that Sami had injured one of his shoulders. Upon further investigation, it was then found that he had been carrying previously undiagnosed damage to his other shoulder. The match at Money In The Bank was done in order to write Zayn off of TV so he could undergo surgery to both shoulders.
With Royal Rumble taking place at the end of the month, and slots still to be filled for the men’s Rumble event, could Sami Zayn be taking one of those spaces?
Other performers have also been seen at the PC, rehabbing and training hard using the PC facilities. Sin Cara, Erick Rowan, Fandango, and Alexa Bliss have all been working hard as they march towards their return.
Despite recent vignettes stating he is returning soon, Sami Zayn says he is “not even close” to doing so. Zayn had double-shoulder surgery this summer. At the time, his timeline for return was listed at just before WrestleMania.
Zayn was Chris Jericho’s most recent guest on Talk is Jericho and spoke about his recovery from double rotator cuff surgery. Jericho asked him if he is close to returning on the show.
“No, I’m not even close, I need a few more months,” Zayn said about his pending return.
He would later mention he is currently rehabbing at the WWE Performance Center.
Sami Zayn On Being Injured
Zayn also said he’s been enjoying his time away from WWE.
“I know wrestling fans, maybe don’t want to hear this, but I’ve been loving being off,” Zayn said. “I think wrestling fans want to hear, ‘I can’t wait to be back and I miss everything.’ I don’t miss anything, I don’t miss it yet. I’m surprised by how little I’ve missed it. Five months and I don’t miss it. What’s up with that?”
Kevin Owens is also scheduled to come back in the first quarter of 2019. Zayn also spoke to his friendship with Owens on the show with Jericho:
“He lives like two blocks from me and when he lived in Montreal, he lived like two blocks from me. We can’t get away from each other if we tried. I get moved to RAW, he gets moved to RAW. Even when he got signed he got put into a program with me right away and since our names have been linked here in one way or another since. We can’t get away from each other if we tried. I’m sure he’d like to get away a little bit. There are times I’d like to get away a bit. It’s good.”
Several other topics were discussed by Jericho and Zayn on the episode. They opted to title the show “The Mental State of Sami Zayn”.
I sat with @IAmJericho to discuss where my mind has been the last 6 months!
It's a very honest conversation about how I view myself, the world, pro wrestling, and much more.
Sami Zayn is on his way back to WWE according to a hype video which aired last night on Raw. Zayn has been on the shelf since June. He underwent double-shoulder surgery this summer and was estimated to be out for 8 months.
Based on the video which aired last night, however, Zayn’s return could be coming sooner than originally expected. He posted the following to Twitter in response to his pending return:
During this time off, I've been working on becoming a better person, and letting go of a lot of toxic elements that come with egotism & ambition.
But I just watched that teaser for my return on #Raw and remembered how good I am at pro wrestling. I actually forgot how great I am.

Zayn had been dealing with shoulder problems for some time when it was finally decided this summer he’d take time off to deal with it.
“I was apprehensive [at WWE Money in the Bank], but it was still manageable,” Zayn explained to Sports Illustrated this summer. “It’s just so weird how you get so used to what we do: I could go in there and wrestle main events on Live Events for 25-30 minutes, but I couldn’t really get the sheets off me in bed. It’s weird how that works. Your body just adapts. And I guess my body’s used to being in the ring and that kind of punishment.”
WWE has hyped the return of one injured star to Monday Night RAW and that is Sami Zayn, who has been on the shelf due to undergoing surgery.
During this week’s episode of the flagship show of the company, it was revealed that Zayn would be returning to in-ring action under the red brand soon.
WWE has yet to reveal when he’ll be back in competition but with the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event just one month ago, it could be then if not sooner. You can see the graphic that WWE sent out here:

Sami Zayn has been on the shelf since June 17th, 2018. He underwent double shoulder surgery this summer as a result of torn rotator cuffs.
The timeline for return from Zayn’s surgeries is listed at about 8 months, which could mean he’d be ready to return in February. As that is the middle of WrestleMania season, however, his return could be pushed back until later in the spring as well.
Double shoulder surgery isn't fun, but I see the whole experience as a gift.
Time off wrestling gave me perspective, about myself and the world around me.
Honest introspection/critical reflection is SO valuable, and it costs nothing. To heal the world, we must heal ourselves.

Sami Zayn Double Shoulder Surgery
In June, Zayn spoke to Sports Illustrated about his injury. He said his shoulders had been bothering him for a few years before finally taking time away to deal with them.
“I was apprehensive [at WWE Money in the Bank], but it was still manageable,” Zayn explained. “It’s just so weird how you get so used to what we do: I could go in there and wrestle main events on Live Events for 25-30 minutes, but I couldn’t really get the sheets off me in bed. Sami Zayn recently gave some praise to Colt Cabana in a response to a fan on his official Twitter account.
He wrote, “I’ll go one step further and say that, whether they know it or not, many independent wrestlers probably wouldn’t be making the money they’re making now were it not for Colt. He truly changed the game.”

On Monday, December 10, 2018, Triple H took to his official Twitter account to announce several upcoming NXT live events.
The black-and-yellow brand will do a two-day tour starting on Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Viejas Arena in San Diego, before trekking to the Municipal Auditorium in Riverside on Friday, Jan. 25. Another tour will begin Thursday, Feb. 7, at the RWJ Barnabas Health Arena in Toms River, N.J., the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Friday, Feb. 8, and continues Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Ryan Center in Kingston, R.I., before wrapping up on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Mass.
Tickets for all four events will be available starting this Friday, December 14 at 10 a.m. local time at NXTtickets.com. NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, Undisputed ERA, Ricochet, Johnny Gargano, EC3, Velveteen Dream, Bianca Belair are all advertised for the show.
Sami Zayn recently stated who he thinks is the most underrated star under the WWE banner right now and he has some history with this talent, which is former NXT and RAW Tag Team Champion Bo Dallas. If you recall, five years ago, Zayn took on Dallas for the NXT Title. Zayn gave some praise to Dallas on his official Twitter account when he wrote, “Bo Dallas is highly underrated.”
Zayn was last seen when he suffered a loss to Bobby Lashley at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena on the WWE Network. MITB was the last date with the company for Zayn before he took time off. The reason for the time off was due to him undergoing shoulder surgery. The original belief was that he should be back in time for WrestleMania 35 next year. This timetable was delayed after he underwent a second surgery in August.
Natalya Praises Sasha Banks
WWE’s YouTube channel has released this video of Kayla Braxton talking to Sasha Banks, Natalya, and Bayley. In the video, Natalya praised Banks for being the true heart & soul of the division, and what the rest of the women want to be like.
As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Philadelphia, PA at the Wells Fargo Center on the USA Network, Banks was at ringside alongside Bayley to support Natalya, who was battling Ruby Riott in a singles match.
It looks like a certain 1980s pop star has Sami Zayn’s vote for a WWE Hall Of Fame induction.
The WWE Superstar took to social media on Thursday to comment about the exclusion of Cyndi Lauper from the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall Of Fame.
Zayn wrote about the impact that Lauper’s “Rock ‘N’ Wrestling” connection along with Hulk Hogan had on the WWE as the reason why she is a no-brainer for an inclusion in the coveted Hall.
“I only today realized that [Cyndi Lauper] is not in the WWE Hall of Fame celebrity wing,” wrote Zayn via his official Twitter page on Thursday evening. “As part of the ‘rock n’ wrestling connection’ with MTV in the 80’s, she was CRUCIAL to WWE crossing over into mainstream.”
Zayn continued, “Arguably no celebrity more deserving. #InductCyndi.”
This led to responses from Lance Storm and Lauper herself.
“I think she turned it down the year they offered it to her,” wrote Storm in response to Zayn’s tweet. Lauper, however, disagreed.
“Not that I remember,” wrote the 1980s pop star. “Well, you’d certainly know more than me,” wrote Storm in another tweet responding to Lauper. “Certainly deserving.”
The next WWE Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place in early April 2019 as part of WrestleMania 35 weekend from East Rutherford, New Jersey.
I only today realized that @CyndiLauper is not in the @WWE Hall of Fame celebrity wing.

Sami Zayn has given some good news to his fans that are concerned about his recovery while on the sidelines.
If you recall, back in June, it was reported that Zayn had been working through an injury and would be taking time off from the road with the WWE to address it. It was later revealed that in June that Zayn underwent shoulder surgery earlier this week to fix a torn rotator cuff be and would out of action through the end of 2018. The original belief was that he should be back in time for WrestleMania 35 next year.
However, earlier this month, he underwent his second bi-lateral rotator cuff surgery. “The Underdog From The Underground” posted this update on his official Twitter account about the second shoulder surgery, “Shoulder surgery #2 of 2 in the books and I’m feeling shockingly great. No pain pills, no problem.”

Zayn was last seen when he suffered a loss to Bobby Lashley at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena on the WWE Network. MITB was the last date with the company for Zayn before he took time off. We wish him a speedy recovery from this latest setback.

Sami Zayn has received his second surgery on his injured shoulder.
Zayn was operated on for bi-lateral rotator cuff surgery. He took to Twitter to offer fans an update on his status and joked about getting to wear a gown:
Who ever said bi-lateral rotator cuff surgery wasn't fun? I get to wear a gown! pic.twitter.com/VTLNvd2r1c
Zayn was previously working through several injuries in the midst of his feud with Bobby Lashley. After his defeat to Lashley at the Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV), Zayn went to Birmingham, Alabama to be examined.
It was revealed Zayn had suffered injuries to both rotator cuffs. Both would need to be operated on, and the second of those took place today. The RAW star isn’t expected back until early 2019.
Staying Busy
Despite being away from WWE, Zayn has kept busy during his injury layoff. He has been taking improv classes and also attended the “Just For Laughs” comedy festival in Montreal. Zayn is also at the forefront of his “Sami For Syria” campaign.
He has raised $105,000 for a mobile medical clinic and is raising awareness about those affected by the sociopolitical climate in the region. Zayn also launched “Sami Relief,” which helps refugees stuck in the desert at the borders while attempting to flee Syria.
Zayn spoke to The Nation about his efforts away from WWE recently. Here’s what he had to say:
“I almost feel like I was more a part of a problem than a solution,” Zayn said.
“It’s sort of this perpetual thing that keeps spinning, or people on one side of the fence versus people on the other side of the fence, and there’s this back and forth, dialogue and just nothing gets done.”
Word started making rounds a couple of days ago that Sami Zayn was hurt and his injury was the reason why he was booked to lose to Bobby Lashley without putting much effort during his match at the recent Money In The Bank PPV.
However, now it has been revealed that the Raw Star’s injury is more serious than anybody may have thought and he is expected to be out of action for the remainder of 2018.
In an interview with WWE.com Zayn revealed that he had been working with a hurt shoulder for a while but he didn’t realize the seriousness of the injury immediately and waited for the things to get better.
Though when it didn’t heal up as Sami was expecting, he underwent some tests. The medical examination not only revealed a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder but his left, surgically repaired shoulder turned out to be even worse.
According to the former NXT Champion, the evaluation showed that he had torn the rotator cuff in his left shoulder as well and his right shoulder, in comparison, was the ‘good shoulder’.
Later in the interview, Sami Zayn also revealed that he underwent a surgery recently for his right shoulder and he is scheduled to go under the knife again to repair the damage in his left shoulder in 6 to 8 weeks.
While no time frame has been given for his comeback, in the beast case, Sami will be eying a return in time for WrestleMania 35 from New Jersey next year.
Sami Zayn will be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.
This is due to him being injured, according to a report by Mike Johnson of PWinsider.com. The site is reporting that Zayn had been working through an injury and will be taking time off from the road with the WWE to address it.
As of this writing, the nature of his injury has yet to be revealed.
Zayn was last seen when he suffered a loss to Bobby Lashley at Sunday’s (June 17, 2018) WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena on the WWE Network.
He was also not backstage for this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Grand Rapids, MI at the Van Andel Arena on the USA Network.
MITB was the last date with the sports entertainment company for Zayn before he took time off.
Now, he’s slated to travel to Birmingham, Alabama this week to be examined. We hope to have more on this story as it develops.
