William Regal: I Put my Job on the Line for Sasha Banks

AEW’s William Regal encouraged WWE to fire him if Sasha Banks didn’t work out, in order to get “The Boss” a shot with the company.

Prior to his release earlier this year, Regal worked as the on-screen General Manager of NXT and as a talent scout, locating some of WWE’s brightest stars.

Speaking to Renee Paquette on The Sessions, Regal recalled his ultimatum to WWE during a discussion about former Superstar Cesaro.

“I put my job on the line once for Sasha Banks, she was someone who I went with because I knew her – my first thing on the job was hire this lady. I said If she doesn’t work out then you can fire me.”

William Regal.

Banks was invited to a WWE tryout in June 2012 and signed a contract in August that same year.

She has since gone on to have one of the most decorated careers of any woman, becoming a five-time Raw Women’s Champion, three-time WWE Women’s Tag Champion, and has had reigns as SmackDown and NXT Women’s Champion.

Is Sasha Banks leaving WWE?

Original Plans For Sasha Banks & Naomi Revealed
Banks and her tag-team partner Naomi walked out of WWE Raw this week over a creative difference between Banks and Vince McMahon.

William Regal may have been released from WWE this year, but Sasha Banks may not be far behind.

On this week’s Raw, Banks walked out of the show due to creative differences with Vince McMahon, and her tag-team partner Naomi walked out in solidarity.

In a statement, WWE apologized that they could not deliver the advertised main event, a six-pack challenge that would have included Banks and Naomi.

There’s been speculation that the company is ready to cut ties after this week’s incident.

However, given Banks’ celebrity status, both from WWE and for her role as Koska Reeves in ‘The Mandalorian,’ it’s unlikely WWE will release her and risk someone of significant star power joining AEW.

Sasha Banks Unfollows WWE, Vince McMahon, and Others on Twitter

Sasha Banks has unfollowed several prominent WWE accounts over the past few days, ahead of her and Naomi’s walk-out during this week’s Raw.

During the show, Banks and Naomi left the Scope Arena, forcing WWE to change their announced six-pack challenge main event into a singles match between Becky Lynch and Asuka.

On Twitter, Banks has unfollowed the accounts of WWE, Vince McMahon, Bayley, Becky Lynch, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos, Seth Rollins, and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Now, “The Boss” is following only six accounts: Naomi, John Cena, Tamina Snuka, her cousin Snoop Dogg, and two fan accounts.

During Raw, Corey Graves said the pair had acted “unprofessionally” by walking out.

In a statement, WWE said that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions placed the titles on the desk of John Laurinaitis before leaving.

Why did Banks and Naomi leave?

Fans have compared this incident to Banks requesting her WWE release in 2019 after losing the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 35.

The duo left Raw after Sasha Banks expressed her frustration with creative and had a meeting with Vince McMahon to discuss changes.

When McMahon refused to budge, Banks left and Naomi sided with her tag-team partner.

Fans have compared this to a 2019 incident, where Banks requested her release after losing the Women’s Tag Titles (then held with Bayley) to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35.

WWE Statement on Sasha Banks & Naomi Walking Out of Raw

WWE has responded to the actions of Sasha Banks and Naomi.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions were scheduled to compete on the May 16 episode of Monday Night Raw. They were to participate in a six-pack challenge to determine the number one contender for the Raw Women’s Championship.

Things went awry when Sasha had creative differences with Vince McMahon, which was first reported by PWInsider.

Sasha Banks made her exit after Vince wouldn’t budge on her suggestion for a change in plans. Naomi ended up leaving the arena as well, which confused many as PWInsider reported that she was scheduled to win the six-pack challenge.

The match ended up being changed to singles action between Asuka and Becky Lynch. The two competed for a title shot against Bianca Belair at Hell in a Cell on June 5.

WWE has issued the following statement on what transpired on Raw:

“When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in the main event of tonight’s Monday Night Raw.

“During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’ office with their suitcases in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk and walked out.

“They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents —even though they’d had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence.

“Monday Night Raw is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract.

“We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight’s main event.”

Original Plans For Sasha Banks & Naomi Revealed

It appears the initial plans for Sasha Banks and Naomi have been revealed and it’s left more questions than answers.

During the May 16 episode of WWE Raw, it was announced that Sasha and Naomi would be featured in a six-pack challenge. The match was to also feature Asuka, Becky Lynch, Nikki A.S.H., and Doudrop.

The winner was to challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at the Hell in a Cell premium live event.

Sasha Banks & Naomi Exit Midshow

The problem is, the match never took place. The commentary team revealed that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions left the building. As a result, WWE booked Asuka vs. Becky Lynch in a number one contender match.

PWInsider reported that Sasha Banks and Naomi legitimately left the arena. Sasha had creative differences with Vince McMahon and decided to leave once the WWE Chairman didn’t budge on her suggestion for a tweak in plans.

Naomi left with her, which is puzzling given this latest update.

Initial Plans

PWInsider is now reporting that Naomi was scheduled to win the six-pack challenge. This has left many confused as to why she would leave with Banks if she was going to be getting a big spot at the upcoming June event.

We’ll keep you updated as more information rolls along.

Sasha Banks & Naomi Leave WWE Raw Mid-Show Over Creative Differences

WWE Raw is going on without Sasha Banks and Naomi.

Banks and Naomi were scheduled to compete on the May 16 episode of Raw. They were going to be in a six-pack challenge involving Asuka, Becky Lynch, Nikki A.S.H., and Doudrop. The winner was set to challenge Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at the Hell in a Cell premium live event.

The commentary team later announced that Sasha and Naomi left the building.

PWInsider is reporting that this is NOT part of the act and Sasha Banks was frustrated over the creative with Vince McMahon. Naomi is apparently on her tag team partner’s side and left with her.

Sasha’s exit left WWE in a last-minute pickle, and the company was forced to pivot. The scheduled match has now been changed to singles action between Asuka and Becky.

It’ll be interesting to see what consequences Sasha and Naomi will face after leaving the building. The two currently hold the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Fans have already compared the situation to CM Punk, who left WWE before Raw went on the air back in 2014. The difference here is, Punk didn’t leave midshow with a match advertised.

When Corey Graves discussed the situation on-air, he did take a shot at Sasha and Naomi. Graves said the two are usually professional but not tonight.

Sasha Banks & Kevin Hart Lightsaber Battle On “Cold as Balls” (Video)

Sasha Banks recently made an appearance on Kevin Hart’s “Cold as Balls” program, which will even include a lightsaber battle between the pair.

A preview for the episode recently dropped, showing a clip from the lightsaber duel. Banks sports the green lightsaber, while Hart wields the red one. Check out the preview below.

The pair are likely referencing Banks’ appearance in Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian” series, which takes place within the Star Wars universe.

Banks plays a Mandalorian character by the name of Koska Reeves in season two. She even got a small fight scene with Temuera Morrison’s Bobba Fett character. It remains to be seen if Banks will be a part of the show’s third upcoming season.

Currently, Banks has been on quite the roll since returning to WWE action in January. She and Naomi captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 38 this past April.

Banks and Naomi topped Carmella & Queen Zelina, Liv Morgan & Rhea Ripley, and Natalya & Shayna Baszler in a Four-Way bout for the straps.

On this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Naomi and Banks yet again successfully defended their titles by defeating the team of Natalya and Shayna Baszler.

Now, Banks and Naomi will sit back and wait for a new set of challengers emerge for their titles.

Sasha Banks Threw the First Pitch at Fenway Park on Sunday

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks appeared at Fenway Park this past weekend to throw out the first pitch.

In a clip uploaded by WWE’s official Twitter account, Banks said this was her first time at Fenway Park and her first baseball game.

In a separate interview, Banks, who is a Boston native, spoke about her career starting off in the city and making it to WWE.

“To go from here to main-eventing a WrestleMania… all my dreams have come true thanks to the WWE.”

Sasha Banks.

In a tweet, Banks said that “she’s the legit boss but y’all knew that” and tagged Mariah Carey, her cousin Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent.

All three of these celebrities have had memorable first-pitch experiences in the past, with Mariah Carey’s throw in Japan spending very little time in the air.

As for her cousin and 50 Cent, both of their throws went wildly off target.

Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox is one of the most iconic baseball stadiums and has been opened since April 1912.

Banks and Naomi will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships this Friday on SmackDown against Natalya and Shayna Baszler.

Sasha Banks Names NXT Stars She ‘Would Love’ To Work With

The current WWE women’s tag team champions Sasha Banks and Naomi have the privilege of appearing on both Raw and SmackDown. Though if that’s not enough, they are not hesitant about going back to NXT and working with some of the development stars as well.

The current champions spoke to Give Me Sport in UK. Among other things, they were asked about the possibility of competing on NXT 2.0.

Naomi mentioned how she has history with Mandy Rose and said that she is ready to face Toxic Attraction anytime. Banks, on the other hand, named two stars she thinks have been working very hard:

“I really like Kayden and Kacy down there. They’ve been working really hard. I’ve trained with both of them at D-Von’s school. I love girls that want to do more.”

Sasha Banks continued by noting how she has seen the duo work hard for long. The Boss claimed that she ‘would love the opportunity’ to work with them:

“I’ve seen them work so hard for so long and would love the opportunity to go down there and tangle with them,”

Sasha Banks and Naomi are currently feuding with Shayna Baszler and Natalya. Banks is currently scheduled to face Baszler in a one-on-one match on this Friday’s SmackDown.

Three More Big Matches Added to WWE UK Tour

Three more big matches have been added to the WWE UK tour coming up later this month.

WWE will be running shows from the Utilita Arena on Thursday, April 28 in Newcastle, England; The O2 Arena from London, England on Friday, April 29; the Accor Arena from Paris, France on Saturday, April 30; and finally the QUARTERBACK Immobilien Arena in Leipzig, Germany on Sunday, May 1.

Earlier today, WWE confirmed several matches for the Newcastle and Leipzig shows. First, former WWE Champions Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre will be going head-to-head. Also, current SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair will take on Sasha Banks. In what should be a real treat, RAW Tag Team Champions RK-Bro will be taking on SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions The Usos. And finally, Sami Zayn will go one-on-one with Gunther.

We also mentioned last week that WWE announced three big matches for their respective shows in London and France. Check them out here below:

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
  • SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey
  • SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. RAW Tag Team Champions RK-Bro

It should be noted that WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Naomi, Gunther, and Bobby Lashley are also advertised for those shows. More so, the SmackDown Live taping on Friday, April 22 from the MVP Arena in Albany, New York has a special start time of 6:30pm ET.

This indicates that the show will be a double taping, meaning the April 29 episode of SmackDown Live will be pre-taped as WWE is running their shows in the UK.

Sasha Banks Invites Jon Moxley Back to WWE

Sasha Banks would love to see AEW stars Jon Moxley, Dustin Rhodes and Ruby Soho back in WWE some day.

The Legit Boss appeared on NBC Sports Boston’s Ten Count podcast to promote Friday’s SmackDown from her hometown at the DCU Center.

During her chat with host Steve Fall, Banks spoke about Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE, her history-making win at WrestleMania 38, her role on Star Wars: The Mandalorian and much more.

Sasha Banks Invites Jon Moxley Back to WWE

While discussing Cody Rhodes returning “home” to WWE, Banks said she’d like to see several other AEW stars join him. She specifically named Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), Goldust (Dustin Rhodes) and Ruby Riot (Ruby Soho).

“It’s good to see the Rhodes’ back in WWE, you know.. Next, let’s bring back Goldust,” said Banks. “Let’s bring them all back. Dean Ambrose, you want to come? Let’s go! The more the merrier. Let’s do it!”

Banks wasn’t done name-dropping AEW talent. She’d also like to see Ruby Soho back on the WWE roster.

“I would love to see Ruby Riot back in the WWE Universe, yes,” she added. “Yes, absolutely. That’s one of them.”

It remains to be seen if Jon Moxley, Dustin Rhodes and Ruby Riot have any interest in going back to WWE. However, it’s interesting to see Sasha Banks at least extend the invite.

Sasha Banks & Naomi Win Women’s Tag Team Titles At WWE WrestleMania 38

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Zelina Vega & Carmella put the titles on the line against Sasha Banks & Naomi, Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan, and Natalya & Shayna Baszler in a fatal 4-way bout at WWE WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas at AT&T Stadium.

At one point, everyone hit their finishers on each other. Vega with a moonsault to Ripley on the floor. Banks and Naomi with a double boot to Morgan. There was a tower of doom spot. Naomi and Banks hit a double team finisher on Carmella for the win.

The match was originally a triple threat as Natalya and Baszler were late additions to the bout. They interfered in a tag match on SmackDown featuring Banks and Naomi taking on Ripley and Liv Morgan and laid them all out.

Natalya and Baszler then had a staredown with Zelina and Carmella. Later in the show, Sonya Deville congratulated Natalya and Baszler for what they did and revealed they would be added to the WrestleMania bout.

Carmella and Vega became the champions last November on an episode of Raw when they beat Ripley and Nikki A.S.H. Heading into WrestleMania, they had held the titles for 129 days.

What are your thoughts on Banks and Naomi retaining the Women’s Tag Team Titles? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.

Sasha Banks Recalls Trying To Quit WWE In 2019

Sasha Banks is one of the most influential women’s wrestlers of recent times. She has become an inspiration to many by rising to this level despite all her struggles. Though this journey has not been easy.

The Boss has gone through many ups and downs in her WWE career. One such low point of her career was the WrestleMania season in 2019, when the former champion even tried to quit WWE.

Banks detailed her mindset during the time in an interview with The Athletic. She and Bayley had just become the inaugural women’s tag team champions. Sasha revealed that she had separated her shoulder in a match against Ronda Rousey in January but she didn’t tell this to anyone:

“I had a Make-A-Wish the next day, and I couldn’t move, couldn’t put my clothes on, couldn’t do my hair, Bayley had to come into my room and do that. I didn’t want to tell anybody. Those titles meant so much to me.”

Sasha Banks On Why She Took Time Off

Sasha Banks wanted to make the title reign something special to put the championship on the map. That’s why it was a real blow to her when they had to drop the belts to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35, less than two months into their reign:

“I felt so sad every day, and I didn’t know why, I had to take myself away from a situation and such a fast world where I had to stop and realize who Mercedes was and who Sasha Banks was. I had no time off. I never got to see myself, my family. I took that time to figure out what I loved besides wrestling.”

Thankfully, Vince McMahon declined Sasha’s request for a release. The chairman offered her some time off instead. The Boss returned to the WWE programming after rediscovering her passion four months later.

Sasha Banks Wants To Follow In Footsteps Of The Rock & John Cena

Sasha Banks made history with Bianca Belair when they closed WrestleMania 37 in the main event. It was the second time WrestleMania was headlined by women, but the first time two black women were in the main event.

Sasha Banks has had a great year career-wise, as she not only did well in the ring but outside the ring, she landed a role in Disney+’s The Mandalorian as Koska Reeves.

Sasha Banks, real name Mercedes Varnado, thinks that just like The Rock and John Cena, who achieved everything they could in the ring and then went on to have successful acting careers, she could do the same. Banks said that wrestling for WWE already prepared her for acting and it was super easy for her to transition to acting.

“Wrestling is acting. It’s SNL. We are live, doing things on the fly,” Banks told The Athletic in a recent interview. “Sometimes we get handed a script five minutes before we go out there, and you can’t memorize it right when it’s handed to you. We’re performing these things off the cuff and feeling. When it came to ‘The Mandalorian’ and transitioning from WWE, it was honestly so easy. Sometimes they would make changes on the fly and I wouldn’t stress, because Vince (McMahon) does that to me every week.”

Banks was asked if she sees herself having an acting career just like other wrestlers before her.

“I think I can in such a different way,” “I see The Rock as maybe the biggest global superstar, and John Cena is coming right behind him. It would be cool to see a woman step into that level. I think with Sasha Banks and Mercedes Varnado right there, I think the stars are aligned for me.”

Banks is proud of the hard work that she has put in ever since she was a kid. She is glad that women’s wrestling is being taken seriously now and hopes that people think women’s wrestling is the greatest thing they’ve ever seen.

“This universe keeps giving me so much more. It’s so cool that my hard work since I was a kid is paying off. Women’s wrestling, something I wanted forever, it’s being taken seriously. I never want that to change. I want it to be something people look to and think it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever seen.”

Sasha Banks is eyeing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships and will face champions Queen Zelina and Carmella in a fatal four-way tag team match alongside the teams of Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan and Natalya & Shayna Baszler on night 2 of WrestleMania 38 on April 3.

Trish Stratus Still Open To Wrestling Sasha Banks

Trish Stratus says she’s willing to step in the ring against Sasha Banks, under the right circumstances.

Stratus will be on hand for this weekend’s Road to WrestleMania live events from Canada. WWE will be in Kichener on Saturday and Toronto on Sunday. The 7-time WWE Women’s Champion spoke with ET Canada this week to promote the the live events shows, as well as WrestleMania 38.

During her conversation with Shakiel Mahjouri, Stratus commented on Lita’s recent match at Elimination Chamber, as well as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s upcoming appearance on the KO Show next Saturday.

Stratus has been discussing a ‘dream match’ against Sasha Banks for several years. The trailblazing Attitude Era star maintains that she’s not scared of The Boss and knows this is a match fans want to see.

“I’ve heard that I’m running from her, which is absolutely untrue,” she said. “At one point, she had done this promo saying that I wasn’t ready. I posted a photo of my six-pack and said, ‘I am ready, girl.’ These little moments. Her and I had, maybe, a five-minute moment in the 2018 Royal Rumble and, to this day, people say that’s the match they want to see.”

Sasha Banks and Trish Stratus

She continued, “Sometimes you just have this energy that is palpable. It’s like when Lita and I first faced off. People felt that. When The Rock and Austin faced off, they felt that. When Sasha and I faced off, I felt it too. It was a good moment. Will we follow up on it? If there is an opportunity, perhaps. Did I wish this was a SmackDown tour? Yes, I did.”

Sasha Banks Returns From Injury On WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Sasha Banks made her WWE TV return earlier than expected during the opening segment of this week’s Friday Night SmackDown.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was in the ring for a promo segment when she was interrupted by Natalya, Shotzi, Shayna Baszler, and Aliyah where they all talked about winning the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. Banks came out and declared, “The Boss is back, baby, and I’m ready to Rumble.” A brawl broke out with Banks standing tall to end the segment.

Banks had been on the sidelines since earlier this month when she suffered an injury at a house show during a match against Charlotte Flair in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The injury occurred when she took an over-the-knee backbreaker as her leg was planted awkwardly.

WWE later announced that Banks would be out of action for 6-8 weeks due to an injury.

Before the show, Fightful had reported that WWE had plans to bring Banks back ahead of the publicly announced schedule and the company informed after the injury creative that she wouldn’t be factored into the Royal Rumble plans because they expected her to be out past the show.

Sasha Banks Update

Sasha Banks provided an update on her condition late Sunday night.

The Boss let her fans know she’s “good” and thanked everybody for their concern.

Xia Li Praises Sasha Banks For Welcoming Her To WWE Family

Xia Li has detailed how Sasha Banks made her feel welcome within the WWE circle.

Li joined the WWE Performance Center back in early 2017. She competed in the Mae Young Classic, becoming the first Chinese female to enter a WWE ring.

Li also participated in the 2019 Royal Rumble match. She’s currently a member of the SmackDown brand.

Xia Li Gets Warm Welcome From Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks is a multiple-time world champion and a top star in WWE. It seems clear that she doesn’t let the fame get to her head, however.

In an interview with Sportskeeda, Xia Li said that Sasha didn’t hesitate to welcome her as a guest in her home.

“She’s been very friendly with me. Even at the very beginning. I don’t speak English very well and she still invited me to her house for a holiday party to celebrate together. She’s already a top superstar. She’s not in my class. So that’s why I’m very grateful she can do this for me. She’s the best.”

Li went as far as to say that she looks up to Sasha as a gold standard in the industry.

“What she does on TV is amazing. She’s my idol in wrestling, and I want to be like her.”

The love doesn’t stop with Banks, however. Li also credited NXT coaches such as Matt Bloom, Norman Smiley, and Sara Amato for helping her develop and make it to the main roster.

Sasha Banks Recalls Taking A Break Due To Mental Health Issues

Sasha Banks felt on top of the world but she realized some time off was needed.

Banks has emerged as a top female star in WWE over the years. “The Boss” has won multiple championships and is relied upon to fulfill any role asked of her. No one is immune to the struggles that can come from mental health issues, however.

Sasha Banks Reflects On Time Off

In 2019, Sasha Banks realized that she wasn’t exactly feeling the love for a profession that she’s always been glued to. Speaking to Ariel Helwani for BT Sport, she revealed the moment she realized a break was in order.

“Maybe, yeah 2019 I was at that WrestleMania when I was just like, ‘Woah, I’m not nervous. I don’t feel anything and this is Wrestle freaking Mania. I couldn’t believe it.

“The biggest fan, the girl that wanted this her entire life didn’t feel anything at the biggest show ever?

“I mean, this is every wrestler’s dream to be here, and at that very moment I knew that I needed to take a break and I was like, ‘Alright, I gotta go find myself.’ And I did and it’s the best decision that I ever made and I’m so thankful that I did.”

Banks went into further detail on knowing that she simply wasn’t feeling right.

“It’s the energy that you feel. It’s the feeling, the numbness that you feel of going out there and not feeling the crowd the same way that you used to and not feeling that energy from them.

“If you go out there feeling numb and there’s no light in your eyes, if you can’t perform at your highest good, even though I did go out there and I put 110 percent, I was not loving it.

“There was no light behind my eyes and I wanted to find that again because this was my everything. This has been my life since I was 10 years old and I wasn’t gonna let it kill me.

“So, I was gonna find my light with it again. So, I took my break and it’s the best, best, best decision I ever made. It’s the best I’ve ever been.”

Just two years later, Banks found herself headlining night one of WrestleMania against Bianca Belair.

Sasha Banks says WWE trained her to work like a Diva, not a Wrestler

Sasha Banks has recalled the time when she was told not to train like male superstars.

WWE has come a long way when it comes to how female talent is utilized. The company went from the “sex sells” mentality to putting women on an even playing field.

Female stars such as Banks, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Bianca Belair have proven to shine bright on the biggest stage.

The change hadn’t occurred during Sasha’s time in developmental, however.

Sasha Banks Reflects On WWE Developmental

Sasha Banks spoke to Kurt Angle on his podcast and admitted she pretty much had the handcuffs on while training in developmental due to the Divas era.

“It was really tough. Still, back then they didn’t want us to train like the men. We were told to train like Divas and we didn’t have any explanation to what that meant.

“They just came out and said, ‘Hey, no striking, no doing this no doing that.’ We’re like, ‘Okay, but we wanna wrestle. We wanna do it.’

“But training was every single day plus live events plus setting up the ring plus going to different towns and putting posters up so people could attend the shows.

“It was every single day sacrifice. I think maybe only Sunday I had off and that wasn’t even an off day cause you just had to recover mentally for what the next day was gonna bring.”

Banks has become one of WWE’s top stars regardless of gender. She has also been open about her positive relationship with Vince McMahon.

She was seen in action at the WWE Survivor Series PPV. Banks represented Team SmackDown in the traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series tag team match. Team Raw ended up getting the win.

Sasha Banks Recalls Attending Eddie Guerrero Tribute Show Before Learning Of His Death

Sasha Banks’ love for Eddie Guerrero has been well documented. Recently on Ariel Helwani Meets, however, she detailed attending the tribute show to him filmed the day he died. Banks says she only learned of Guerrero’s passing upon arriving at the arena that night.

Guerrero passed away on Sunday, November 13th, 2005 and WWE taped both a RAW and Smackdown episode that night dedicated to him. The show took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Banks was living at the time.

“I was so excited to go to that show. All I wanted to do was to show Eddie Guerrero my sign,” Banks said.

“I remember going into the arena and I saw all these signs that said ‘Rest in Peace, Eddie Guerrero.’ I was so confused. I was like, ‘Well, maybe Minneapolis doesn’t like Eddie because it was advertised as Eddie Guerrero vs. Undertaker, which I just assumed everybody loved The Undertaker,” Banks continued.

“A fan came up to me and he told me that Eddie Guerrero passed away that night and everything inside of me just broke. I couldn’t believe that my hero passed away.”

Banks would have been 13 at the time.

“I was in my mom’s arms just bawling. I couldn’t believe it,” Banks recalled.

Last weekend’s Full Gear show took place on the anniversary of Eddie Guerrero’s death in the city that he died in.

Eddie Guerrero was 38 years old at the time of his death. The cause of his death is listed as heart failure due to underlying atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Eddie was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2006.
