Scott Hall Teases Possible nWo Reunion On Next Week’s WWE RAW

As noted previously, WWE is promoting special guests and surprises for next week’s “Hulk Hogan Birthday Celebration” on RAW. This has led to speculation that there might be a possible New World Order reunion at the show, with Hogan’s former nWo buddies Kevin Nash and Scott Hall rumored for the show.

Hall tweeted the following about the subject, further adding fuel to the rumors of an nWo reunion next week:

  • Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier Comment On WILD Brawl (You Won’t BELIEVE What They Say!!)
  • Goldberg Speaks On His Past Fight With Chris Jericho, A Possible WWE Return

The following are highlights of a new Phoenix New Times interview with Bill Goldberg:

Getting advice from Jim Ross before launching his podcast: “Well, yeah. Absolutely. I’ve been taking Jim’s advice for the past 30 years. He and I go way back to my Oklahoma days. So why reinvent the wheel and why not talk to people who have tread before you? And he obviously knows what he’s doing. And I’m not a radio personality by any stretch, but if you stop learning, you die, and I’m firmly a believer in that. So I’ll take advice from everybody, doesn’t mean that I’m actually going to act on it. But you gotta admit, when you’re not an expert at something and are able to hear advice from different people and discern between the good advice and bad advice, you do that and go from there.”

His podcast being different from others: “Yeah. At the end of the day, man, the reason I did the podcast is because I went through my Rolodex and thought, “There has to be a way to take advantage of all the cool people that I know.” So, in the beginning, by not [featuring] wrestlers, I wouldn’t be able to gain that much traction as the other guys, but I’m not at all like the other guys. I’m different.

I’m not a wrestler. I am a football player who looked at wrestling as a business. I do not live it, I do not breathe it, I do not eat it and shit it like everybody else does. And I truly believe that there’s a lot more interesting content out there that I’m going to try turning these wrestling fans on to that’s cool. I’ve been leading a pretty cool life and have some really cool friends.”

Would he have Chris Jericho on as a guest? “Absolutely. Why not? We’ll do a co-promoted podcast where it should be aired on both simultaneously. Yeah. No big deal. I’m 47 years old, man, I don’t hold grudges with people. If he’s got a problem with me, say it to my face. Other than that, shut up, you know?”

Jericho tweeting Goldberg is his “bro” and that anyone “trying to stir the shit can piss off”: “Yeah, that’s how I feel too, man. And I very much appreciate him saying that. Until I talk to him face-to-face, which I haven’t done since the B.S. went down years ago, which…it was ridiculous. It was the furthest thing from a fight that I think I’ve ever seen. But he knows the truth and I know the truth, and the reality is we’re grown men, dude, we’ve got bigger and better things to do than [dwell] on a ridiculous little subject that people seem to bring up every couple minutes.”

Is he a tough guy or a softie at public appearances and Scott Hall: “Well, they know that I’m the antithesis outside of the ring of the character that I am inside, except for the fact that, you know, you piss me off or do something that’s wrong then I’m going to show that other side of Goldberg. I mean, the reality is, I’m multi-dimensional in the person that I can become at the snap of a finger. But the most important aspect of my personality is the one that’s caring and the one that tries to give back to people who have put me in a position that I’m already in.

The wrestling convention or the signings are not the place to show that I can punch somebody in the face. It’s a place where the people can look at you as an idol, this big strong guy, but yet, at the same time, have a nice conversation with you, so you smile, put your arm around them and make them feel welcome. That’s what you do at these autograph sessions. But, if Scott Hall mouths off to me, then they’ll see the other side.

This would be a rematch that he’d never book, believe it. He’d never sign it, because this one would be done in the street or at my gym, which I’d rather take it there, you know?”

A possible WWE return: “I’ve expressed my desire…well, not my desire, my willingness to maybe consider it again, but I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 50,000 times, once they learn how to do business, then I’d consider it.

I’d love to do it too, man. I mean, like I said, I’ve said it before, I think the WWE and I will never see eye to eye, so I don’t think [it] will be very logical, and I think the chances of seeing me elsewhere are between zero and zero, unless it’s Japan or unless somebody comes out to be a competitor to [WWE’s owner Vince McMahon], because I’m not just gonna do it to do it.”

    What’s next for him:
“I’ve got a movie [Minkow] coming up in September [and] just got off a conference call with a new TV show. I’m pretty damn busy man. I’m as busy as I want to be. And at this time in my life, at 47 years old, I just want to be able to make my own decisions and live by it. So as long I’m still able to do that, then I’m good, man.

I don’t need to vindicate anything because of my last match against Brock Lesnar, by no stretch of the imagination. Because I haven’t seen anybody press [slam] him over their head yet. When that’s a normal occasion, then I won’t feel as though I accomplished very much. But I haven’t seen anyone jackhammer The Giant [a.k.a. WWE’s The Big Show] yet. So, if I’m the “flash in the pan,” as a couple people have said I was, so be it. But this “flash in the pan” put asses in seats, money in a lot of people’s pockets, and I was able to jackhammer The Giant at will.”

  • 10 Reasons the WWF vs. WCW Invasion Angle Failed (Part 1/2)

    20010401_vkm

During the summer of 2001, the WWE was under attack and at risk of a hostile takeover. After finally winning the Monday Night Wars, the WWE had to find a way to integrate the influx of talent that was acquired with the purchase of WCW.

Their first attempt at doing so would come in the form of the Invasion storyline, which saw former WCW and ECW employees “invading” the WWE in an attempt to take over the company. If this sounds a bit like the nWo’s plot to conquer WCW, well that’s because it is essentially the same story.

Ultimately, the program forced the WWE to fend off the intruders by forming a coalition to battle Team Alliance, which was led by Shane and Stephanie McMahon, the respective on-screen owners of WCW and ECW at the time.

Many fans have cited the Invasion storyline as one of the most entertaining periods in recent WWE history, as it featured a number of matchups that had previously been unimaginable. However, there were many aspects of the storyline that could have been handled better, resulting in a program with great potential that was squandered by poor booking. Here are ten reasons why the Invasion storyline was not as memorable as some fans recall.

DDP & Jake Roberts Comment On Scott Hall’s Recent Issues

WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall missed an appearance at a Big Time Wrestling event in California due to ‘personal issues.’ Hall tweeted about the situation, noting that he had been dealing with “medical problems” and thanked fans for their support.

During a recent interview with Wrestling Inc., Hall’s longtime friend Diamond Dallas Page commented on what might have triggered Hall returning to a dark place:

“I think the [Ultimate] Warrior passing affected a lot of people,” DDP said. “I know Scott and Jake had great discussions with him. Both of them were supposed to work with Warrior at sometime and didn’t. Scott was supposed to tag with [Ric] Flair at Survivor Series and that was around the time Warrior ended up leaving. Jake was doing all those vignettes and that didn’t work out either. Jake held onto that anger until they talked. Scott will never put himself out there as the poster boy for being cured. He’s thinking he could fall today. He only lives a mile from me, which was his design, and sometimes he’ll just come by. I am a foundation of positive energy because the other way sucks. You need to figure out how to pull yourself up again.”

Jake Snake Roberts also appeared on last week’s Piper’s Pit podcast and noted that Hall had “slipped up” and he was praying for him.

Scott Hall Misses Weekend Booking, Says He’s In A “Dark Place”

WWE Hall Of Famer Scott Hall did not appear at the Big Time Wrestling convention this weekend in Newark, California as scheduled. Hall was supposed to attend the convention and then manage his son Cody Hall at the Big Time Wrestling event, which was also scheduled to feature Ric Flair, The Godfather, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and others.

Hall reportedly sent a text to promoter Kirk White and informed him that he was in a dark place and that he refused to get out of bed for Cody or Diamond Dallas Page, both of whom tried to get him to fulfill his bvooking committment.

Hall ended up taking to Twitter, tweeting out the following comments regarding the situation:

Daniel Bryan/Kane Feud Stats, Ric Flair Note, No SmackDown Post-Show Tonight

    – There will be no WWE SmackDown post-show on the WWE Network tonight. There will, however, be a SmackDown pre-show before this week’s episode begins.

    – WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair is scheduled to appear at a wrestling convention at the Newark Memorial High School in Newark, California on May 17th. Also scheduled to appear are Scott and Cody Hall, Chris Masters, Ezekiel Jackson, Molly Holly, Daniels and Kazarian.

    – For statistic junkies out there, Daniel Bryan and Kane have had nine singles matches against each other on television over the past two years. Of those nine, Bryan has won seven, with two of those wins coming by way of disqualification. One of his losses was also by disqualification. Bryan has won their last six meetings, as Kane’s last victory over the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion came back in June of 2012.

  • DDP Talks About Jake & Hall Entering the WWE Hall Of Fame, Ultimate Warrior Memories

Diamond Dallas page recently appeared on Wrestling 365 hosted by Alfonso Marimon and Jon Curry. Here are some highlights of what DDP said about:

The Energy Backstage at the WWE Hall of Fame:

“The Hall of Fame was really cool, getting there was the journey, the whole thing with Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts and Scott Hall. It was great to see both those guys be inducted, they both put a lot of work in. It’s one of those things, so many people bring it up, you get to the end and go, okay we got here, awesome, dreams do come true, but both of those guys are still addicts, so they fight it daily. I’ve had people come up to me and say dude you’ve cured Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts and I’m like what?, no, I never did that. All I did was help him, guide him and put him in a positive environment. Jake could fall down tomorrow and he does from time to time. He doesn’t live with me anymore, I can’t be his keeper, I just hope he can stay on the right track, but someone like Jake or Scott, either one of those guys could fall and hopefully not too far, because we can fall too far and then the promoters and everyone don’t want to deal with that stuff, but as of right now, it was a glorious moment.”

How It Felt To See Jake Roberts & Scott Hall Inducted:

“It actually felt great man, for Scott’s speech I went out in front and sat with my girl and my ex-wife Kimberly, they were both there, they’re friends and we watched Kevin (Nash) come out and then Scott and afterwards I went backstage again. To be in that whole…..That’s like the highest honor you can get in our business, I think it even crosses over World Championships to that next level. There’s still certain people that belong and should be in there and that will always be the case, but eventually, sometimes that takes a while, everyone gets their turn. I said it 18 months earlier, we set the big pie in the sky dream that we would be on this (Hall of Fame) stage on this night.

“Jake didn’t think that was possible, but Jake had to go through a lot of changes for that to happen and he did and it was a journey. We’ve done the movie, that’s where the movie ends, I’m sure we’ll have a little trail-off, because I don’t know exactly what will happen in the next 6 months, 8 months before we’ve got the film completely tied up. I’ve been filming with director and co-producer Steve Yu the resurrection of Jake The Snake’s story and that details Scott Hall coming in and where he was when he started and that journey and a lot of it is really fun and inspirational, while some of it is dark. There’s dark moments man and there’s times where the 3 of us did not get along.”

    Memories Of The Ultimate Warrior:

“The first time I was on a card or an event with the Warrior was at WrestleMania 6 and I didn’t get the gig, my car did, I was Diamond Dallas Chauffeur for Rhythm N Blues and I got to meet a lot of the boys. I was in the AWA at the time as a manager, but everybody dreamed of being at WrestleMania, this is the spot and I’m there. I may be driving a Cadillac, but you know what, none of my other buddies are. Hulk Hogan came up to me and was so nice to me and talked about my gimmick and we talked for about 10 minutes and it was amazing.

“Really, the only superstar I wanted to meet that evening and didn’t get the chance to was Warrior, that would happen 10 years later when he came in in WCW to start up his feud with Hulk Hogan and when he got to TV, I was planning on going by, I was looking forward to shaking his hand and meeting him, maybe having some kind of a relationship with him and one of the agents came by and said DDP, you want to meet The Ultimate Warrior and I said absolutely, I’ll be down there later, but the agent said that he sort of asked me to come by and grab you and Goldberg and see if you guys would want to meet him and I was like he’s requesting US to come by, sure, I’ll come with you.

“I walked down there and gave him a big hug and he talked about how much fun he’s had watching us (DDP and Goldberg) and how we made him want to get back in the business. The main event that they would be working towards would be Halloween Havoc and this story shows how anything is possible in this world. 10 years later, from working at the Skydome, being a chauffeur and watching Hogan vs. Warrior for the title to watching them 10 years later, but this time I’m going for the World Championship against Goldberg.

“It took a fan writing me that on Twitter to really put that in perspective and I was like, woah, I never really put that together. I saw him at WrestleCon last year and we talked for a little bit and he was so blown away by what I was doing with DDP Yoga and Scott and Jake and he said, you’re doing God’s work man. He’s a big God man, I am too, I’m not the big preacher guy, but I’m a big God man. For him to give me the shoutout at the Hall of Fame for him being inducted, not once, not twice, but like 4 times and it was a little tongue-in-cheek funny, but he respected what I was doing. I never got a chance to thank him for that, because that was just so cool of him to do that.”

DDP Speaks On Warrior’s Passing, WWE HOF Thoughts, Roberts/Hall & More

The following are highlights of a new Wrestling 365 interview with Diamond Dallas Page:

On the energy backstage at the WWE Hall Of Fame: “The Hall of Fame was really cool, getting there was the journey, the whole thing with Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Scott Hall. On how it felt personally for him to see Jake and Scott be inducted: “It actually felt great man, for Scott’s speech I went out in front and sat with my girl and my ex-wife Kimberly, they were both there, they’re friends and we watched Kevin (Nash) come out and then Scott and afterwards I went backstage again. The official WWE website recently interviewed all of the members of the infamous “Kliq” about the “Curtain Call” incident at Madison Square Garden in 1996. Below are some highlights of the interview.

WWE.COM: Did you guys plan The Curtain Call ahead of time or did it just kind of happen that night?

SHAWN MICHAELS: It was talked about in Europe then it was never talked about again. We had done a European tour, then we came back and had this last run. For us, not that we needed a reason to celebrate something, but everything was the last time we’ll be doing this, the last time we’ll be doing that.

KEVIN NASH: This may be the last time we’re in a Lumina van! We should really drink tonight.

    [Laughter.]

MICHAELS: Then, that night, as best as I can recall, it was Hunter coming up and going, “Hey, are we doing that thing we talked about?” I don’t think anybody remembered it.

NASH: I walked in and talked to Vince and Pat [Patterson]! You [points to Michaels] were with me and he said it was fine and we were supposed to go to [New York City steakhouse] Smith & Wollensky afterwards. And it just turned into a thing …

WWE.COM: Before we get into the fallout, let’s talk about the incident itself. What do you remember about that moment at the end of the night?

SCOTT HALL: I remember standing in the ring and we’re all there together. It was unheard of, but the people appreciated it. I remember looking at Kev, we’re all hugging and I remember thinking we all made it.

NASH: I remember — and I think we may have even said it in the ring that night — that we weren’t disbanding The Kliq.

MICHAELS: We were taking over the business.

NASH: We’re going to go down south and take over Ford Motor Company. You guys run GM and we’ll run the automobile industry.

MICHAELS: I remember Vince came up to me after and said, “Did that mean a lot to you?” I said, “Yes it did.” “Then it meant a lot to me.” And he was fine. It was fine that night.
