  • Best Original WWE Network Programming

Since the launch of the WWE Network, over 600,000 fans have subscribed to the service. While it’s a bit below the one million subscribers they were hoping for, it’s still an admirable number for a service that is still only available in the United States.

With live access to every pay-per-view and a vault containing every special event in WWE, WCW, and ECW history, it is safe to assume that most fans signed up in order to gain access to the special events, and at the reduced price of only $9.99 per month, who can blame them?

There is a lot more to the WWE Network than just a vault of old events and live access to each month’s pay-per-view, however. There is also a boatload of original content. Here is a list of some of the must-see original content on the Network.

    5. Legends of Wrestling: Families – Watching a bunch of old-timers talk about the good old days is usually about as exciting as watching paint dry, but some of these are actually pretty entertaining. One of the best round-table discussions includes a panel consisting of Sergeant Slaughter, Jim Ross, Ted DiBiase, and James J. Dillon. The group discusses the importance and prevalence of families in the WWE. It is interesting to hear DiBiase discuss how having a father in the business influenced him to become a professional wrestler.

Daniel Bryan's journey to WrestleMania is something most fans will be able to enjoy.

Daniel Bryan’s journey to WrestleMania is something most fans will be able to enjoy.

    4. Journey to WrestleMania: Daniel Bryan – This is obviously one of the newest pieces of original content on the Network. It follows Daniel Bryan on his week leading up to this year’s WrestleMania and provides a number of exclusive interviews leading up to the event. It also discusses his rise to the top after initially being terminated from the company, with commentary from William Regal and Pat Patterson discussing how the company made a mistake in his firing. The most interesting parts of this documentary are the backstage scenes and hearing his fellow wrestlers praise him for his accomplishments.

    – Scott Rechsteiner, famously known as Scott Steiner, and legal representatives of TNA Wrestling are scheduled for a court hearing in Nashville, Tennessee on October 26, according to court records on nashvillechanceryinfo.org.

Songwriter Files Lawsuit Against WWE Over WCW Theme Songs

A licensing inquiry by THQ led one songwriter to file a federal lawsuit against WWE, WWE-owned company Stephanie Music Publishing, Inc., WWE employee Michael Seitz (a/k/a Michael “P.S.” Hayes) and WWE employee James Alan Johnston (a/k/a Jim Johnston). According to a lawsuit filed by songwriter James D. Papa, the sports entertainment organization redirected royalty payments to several wrestling related songs he either wrote or co-wrote by securing the rights to music unlawfully.

The songs in question are featured in the 1992 WCW compilation album Slam Jam 1 and were used as entrance themes by wrestlers. The songs include “Badstreet USA” (The Fabulous Freebirds), “Don’t Step To Ron” (Ron Simmons), “Man Called Sting” (Sting), “Mr. Bang Bang” (Cactus Jack), “Master of the DDT” (Jake “The Snake” Roberts), “Freebird Forever” (The Fabulous Freebirds), “Simply Ravishing” (“Ravishing” Rick Rude), “Johnny B. Badd,” “The Natural” (“The Natural” Dustin Rhodes) “The Dragon” (Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat), “He’s Smokin” (Barry Windham) and “Steinerized” (The Steiner Brothers).

Papa says he was contacted by video-game company THQ for permission to license “Badstreet USA” for its Legends of WrestleMania title that was released in March 2009. The lawsuit alleges, “THQ’s records showed the song to be owned by World Wrestling Entertainment.” The suit continues:

“As a result of the confusion, Papa contacted BMI to ensure that ‘Badstreet USA’ was properly registered to him and his companies. Upon his investigation, Papa learned that ‘Badstreet USA’ had been improperly and erroneously reregistered by Defendants and been given a new registration number, resulting in the royalties being redirected to Defendants. Eventually, through working with BMI, Papa was able to correct the registration to properly reflect his ownership in the work. However, by the time the registration was corrected, THQ had decided not to use the song.”

The suit says, “His investigation revealed a systematic pattern of errors and omissions by WWE personnel that effectively misappropriated Papa’s musical works and deprived the Plaintiffs of royalty payments that would have been paid but for these errors and omissions.” According to BMI.com, “Mr. Bang Bang” has two separate registration numbers: one for Papa, another that credits James Alan Johnston as songwriter and Stephanie Music Publishing as publisher. Johnston is WWE’s longtime music composer while Stephanie Music Publishing is a company owned by Vince McMahon that was named after his daughter, Stephanie.

Papa says his songs have appeared on myriad places including numerous video releases, broadcasts of cable television shows and on-demand programming, without his permission and without receiving financial compensation. He is seeking royalties paid (plus pre- and post- judgment interest) on the sale of videos, computer games, the sale or licensing of ring tones, and the broadcasts of cable television shows and on-demand programming; a preliminary and permanent injunction to halt the use of the copyrighted materials; an order directing the named defendants to file a report detailing how they have complied with the injunction; reimbursement for legal fees; and a trial by jury where the court will determine damages. He also wants the court to certify that he owns the rights to the music.

The entire complaint is available here.

TNA Takes Legal Action Against Scott Steiner Over Twitter Rants

Total Nonstop Action Entertainment has taken legal action against former wrestler Scott Steiner following weeks of “disparaging remarks” online about the organization, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff and other employees, according to Nashville’s City Paper. TNA filed a verified complaint Monday in Nashville Chancery Court asking for an injunction to stop Steiner’s “disparaging remarks” on Twitter.

Read Here: All Of Scott Steiner’s CRAZY Twitter Rants

The Nashville based wrestling organization claims that Steiner’s remarks breach a contract he signed in December 2010. It specifically stipulates that he is “forbidden from making public statements, including messages online, concerning TNA or any of its employees without prior approval.” City Paper, however, does not disclose whether the stipulation stands following his departure from the organization in March 2012.

“In blatant disregard of the parties’ Agreement, Steiner has engaged in a concerted effort to disparage TNA, its wrestlers, and other talent and cast them in a negative light,” the lawsuit states.

TNA formally demanded that Steiner stop posting disparaging remarks on Twitter on May 10. He responded five days later through the social media website: “Havent tweeted lately bcuz I got a letter from a lawyer representing hogan n [Bischoff] basically saying… They take my tweets seriously and if threats continue they will take to law enforcement….really hogan my.. Tweets scare you,Ive said worse in interviews on tv,LOL.”

TNA’s lawsuit asks for injunctive relief due to Steiner’s breach of contract. No hearing on the matter has been set since TNA hasn’t filed an order for injunction,

It was also disclosed in the filing that Steiner was paid $2,500 per pay-per-view performance during his time with TNA.

Additional details on the matter are available here.

Reason Behind Steiner’s Crazy Rants, Masters To TNA Update

    – Scott Steiner has gone on some epic Twitter rants this year, absolutely burying TNA’s booking, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff and their kids. While Steiner does have legitimate beef with Bischoff and Hogan, some people in TNA think that Steiner’s real motive for discrediting the Hogan & Bischoff regime is to get his longtime friend Jeff Jarrett back into power.

Steiner Takes Aim At Bischoff Over Recent Interview Comments

Scott Steiner, who parted ways with TNA Wrestling in March, has continued to fire off messages on Twitter trashing his former employer’s uppeer hierarchy. In his latest series of messages, “Big Poppa Pump” slams Eric Bischoff, Brooke Hogan and Hulk Hogan for destroying TNA in his eyes. He also takes issue with Bischoff’s comments regarding him during a recent interview.

When asked of Steiner’s scathing Twitter rants, Bischoff said, “Scott is a 50-year-old man and is at a stage of his life where in his mind he is a much bigger star than in reality and he is having a hard time adjusting to that. It is sad to see, especially with people at one time you thought were friends become so bitter because their identities are so diluted in this wrestling character that they think it is their life. When that chapter of their life closes they can no longer perform to the level they need to perform to be able to compete with the younger talent.

“Some guys are able to adjust to that very well and just move on but other people like Scott Steiner just become bitter. I hope he finds a way to look back at his career and realise he was very fortunate, he made a lot of money, got to see the world and got to do things very few people got to do. I would like to see Scott become less bitter, he will be a much happier person.”

    Steiner responds:

Brooke Tessmacher will now be called miss tessmacher bcuz hogan wants it that way…..really

How about brooke A and brooke B …A is for amazon B is for beautiful..guess which brooke is the amazon

Ive always said hogan n bitchoff are car salesman and are the best at it but how do these con men

Convince a company that they have brought nothing but bad storylines and bad ratings and trying

To save money hire their siblings who are both worthless, they were paying garrett bitchoff more money

To go thru school than they are paying most of their cruiserweights and he still cant throw

    A believeable clothesline,fn bullshit

Leaving one cunt and going to another..bitchoff did an interview and all he has

To do is say what im saying isnt true but he cant so he tries too convince whoever that im bitter

No im telling the truth and im saying what everybody wishes they could in tna but cant,i am the voice

For these guys and im trying to save tna, bcuz ive seen this same bullshit before in WCW,where is hogans

And bitchoffs accountability, then he said he thought we were friends…really..hogan thought we were

Friends bcuz i gave him the # of the Dr who did my back surgery, and you thought we were friends bcuz

…WHY….you have an inflated opinion of yurself bcuz you are viewed by 99% of the wrestlers that

Were in WCW as the jackoff who made David Arquette champion and eventually running WCW into

The ground, and now for those wrestlers who werent in WCW but know about it you are a jackoff that

Doesnt know shit about booking and are destroying the fanbase of TNA

And anybody that knows wrestling; once you lose fans its not like turning the faucet back on it takes awhile

To get those fans back and sometimes you dont get them back

Thats why TNA should be in a panick bcuz these 3 assholes have brought bad ratings for 21/2 yrs

Bitchoffs then says when he was in wwe he wishes he would have picked vince’s mind more….are you

Fucking kidding me …bitchoff the only time vince let you in his office was to save you from the guys from

WCW kicking your ass,At raw flair went up to bitchoff and slapped the shit out of him and bitchoff being

The cunt that he is did nothing, then Arn was going too, then pretty soon a line of guys from WCW started

To form bcuz eric was a arrogant asshole and they wanted to take their shot and Vince brought bitchoff

In his office and then tried to calm everybody down,You wonder why your son is a pussy……bcuz you are

Age is a state of mind and i feel great, put me in the ring with garrett and we’ll see who looks better

Fuck the piece of shit cant even wrestle

Scott Steiner Rants About Brooke Hogan

Scott Steiner is back with another epic Twitter rant – and this time, his target is the new head of TNA’s Knockouts division – Brooke Hogan. Take it away, Big Poppa Pump”

“After brooke hogan tweeted that she could make more money on her back than i did in my wrestling career Which i accepted and i will get into later,a high ranking official from TNA (who i respect) called me and Without going into the whole conversation he ask me to stop tweeting and since im trying to Save TNA from the same fate as WCW,and this official also has TNA’s best interest in mind i agreed Until bitchoff opened his mouth spewing his bullsh*t as usual, but first since i missed brookes debut,I know The camera adds 10 lbs but OMG how big is her head, did everybody notice when they were advertising her For the show they had a picture of her that looked totally differerent of her when she walked out,how many Gallons of paint did it take to airbrush that big head…and this is why i accepted her challenge that she Could make more money on her back, even though guys have fetishes and sometime guys are just bored But she has too many physical variables and abnormalities to be competitive or make money as a wh*re.”

“Keep in mind she could have issued the challenge that she could make more money singing but she chose Prostitution bcuz even she knows her singing sucks…her dad took her to a few music studios in nashville in a last ditch effort and of course they got laughed out of the studio…same results cant sing cant dance and shes an amazon.”

“Alot of responses to her debut was that she was a amazon..she has fat knees, cankles and did i mention she has a big head Spinkled with a lil transvestite dust.”

“So with the horrible ratings and reviews of his daughter what does hogan do;re-tweets a sexual tweet bcuz The guy asks him too! LOL what a f*cking idiot..need some ppl to tweet hogan the most vulgar sexual laced tweets and lets see if The dumbass will re-tweet them”

“For 21/2 yrs since hogan bitchoff n pritchard have been in charge the ratings have sucked and TNA continues To lose more and more of its fanbase and they think bringing in hogan’s no talent daughter in will help The ratings…..they are fn crazy….the knockouts are pissed and think shes a joke.”

You want a storyline you want ratings make brooke the chazz bono of tna, minus the Penis implant, bcuz he/she has to have a vagina like her dad.

Not only is tna wasting money on flying his daughter to the shows,TNA also pays to fly her dog with her. Unbelievable!!!!
