Foley On Paige & Del Rio’s Relationship, Extreme Rules Twitter Stats, Rollins News

– In Nielsen’s nightly Twitter TV ratings for series & specials, WWE Extreme Rules had 268,000 tweets with 50,000 unique authors. The show ranked #3 for the night, behind the Billboard Music Awards and Game of Thrones.

– We noted earlier that Charlotte and Seth Rollins made the Sports Illustrated “Fittest 50” list. Charlotte came in at #24 on the women’s list while Rollins came in at #24 on the men’s list. SI wrote these blurbs:

“Ashley Fliehr, aka Charlotte, has athletic abilities that extend well beyond WWE. She competed internationally in gymnastics for seven years; won three cheerleading national championships, played volleyball and basketball and did swimming, diving, ballet and track and field. Fliehr uses everything from kettlebells to pull-up bars and more to sculpt her physique.”

“Colby Lopez, better known by his ring name Seth Rollins, is one of WWE’s top stars and an all-around freak athlete. He suffered a knee injury in November but has been rehabbing for months to return, using tools such as the SkiErg (a machine that mimics Nordic skiing movements), the rowing machine and, of course, some heavy weights.”

– Mick Foley posted a meme on WWE couple Paige and Alberto Del Rio but says he asked them how they felt about it before posting. Below is the meme and what Foley said in the comments section:

“I actually asked both Paige and Alberto how they felt about it a few minutes before the post even went up – and they were both very good sports about it.”

Reactions To Rollins’ Return, New Rollins Merchandise

The new t-shirt that Seth Rollins wore last night for his return at Extreme Rules is already on sale at WWEShop.com. According to fans in attendance at Extreme Rules, WWE had the shirt on sale immediately after the show was over, a pretty smooth merchandising tactic.

Here are some WWE reactions to Rollins returning:

Seth Rollins Returns At WWE Extreme Rules

Seth Rollins made his return to WWE at Sunday night’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

Following Roman Reigns’ successful WWE World Heavyweight championship defense against AJ Style, Rollins hit the ring and laid out the champion with a pedigree. The Architect took possession of the title and held it high as he stood above the fallen champion.

Rollins has been out of action since undergoing major knee surgery in late 2015. He has been medically cleared to return to the ring and is scheduled to be at this week’s WWE RAW and SmackDown tapings.

Seth Rollins At Extreme Rules, Scheduled To Be At RAW & SmackDown

Seth Rollins was recently cleared to return to the ring after a visit at the WWE Performance Center and he is in New Jersey for tonight’s Extreme Rules PPV, according to a report at PWInsider.com.

The former WWE World Heavyweight champion is also scheduled to be at this week’s RAW and Smackdown shows.

Of course, this does not mean Rollins will be returning to television. However, The Architect being medically cleared and backstage at WWE shows are a sign his return is happening any week now. The word going around several weeks ago is that WWE was going to wait until John Cena’s return next week on RAW before bringing back the likes of Rollins & Randy Orton.

Check back later tonight for our live coverage of WWE Extreme Rules.

Cena Comments On Rollins’ Return, Cena & Bellas At NBC Upfronts, Nikki Storm

– John Cena has commented on the buzz that Seth Rollins will be returning to WWE television in the coming weeks. Cena, who has also been rehabbing a major injury and returns to RAW on May 30th, tweeted:

– NXT Newcomer Nikki Storm wrestled her first singles match for NXT at Saturday’s live event in Jacksonville, Florida. Competing under her real name, Nicola Glencross, she lost to Adrienne Reese (a/k/a Athena). Storm made her in-ring debut in late April at a live event, where she and Mandy Rose lost to Liv Morgan and Aliyah in a tag team match.

Update On Seth Rollins’ Return To Television

Sources within WWE indicate that Seth Rollins is scheduled to return to television the week of June 6. The news comes from a report at report at PWInsider.com.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has been doing Cross Fit classes in recent weeks, an indication that his return was imminent. We can confirm Rollins was training at the WWE Performance Center last week.

Rollins has been out of action since November when he underwent reconstruction surgery on his knee.

In light of word getting out that Rollins will almost certainly be back on television within the next month, John Cena tweeted a supportive message on Monday morning:

More on Bray Wyatt and Other Top WWE Stars Returning

After arguably the worst string of injuries in WWE history, several of WWE’s top names are gearing up to get back in the during. During today’s WWE Q1 earnings conference call, Vince McMahon painted an optimistic outlook regarding the company’s future, in part due to the imminent returns of John Cena, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. A couple new details courtesy of PWInsider:

– It’s expected that the other returns will take place after John Cena’s big homecoming on the Memorial Day edition of RAW in less than two weeks.

– Bray Wyatt is still recovering from his right calf injury and likely won’t be wrestling for some time after he’s back on TV.

– Seth Rollins is scheduled to be back in early June after “Temple” finishes filming.

Vince McMahon noted that 13 wrestlers have recently been called up to the main roster and additional talent called up soon, so it will be interesting to see how this “new era” looks come June.

Seth Rollins & Randy Orton’s Returns, Adam Rose Deletes ‘Wellness Suspension’ Tweets

– Shinsuke Nakamura’s new WWE t-shirt sold out immediately when released in Japan on May 2nd.

– For whatever reason, Adam Rose has deleted his tweets regarding his 60-day suspension from WWE, including his initial reaction to the Wellness policy violation as well as the doctor’s note he posted this week, which explained that he’s been legally prescribed Adderall to treat his Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

– Seth Rollins is getting close to being medically cleared to return to WWE. The former WWE World Heavyweight champion underwent reconstructive surgery back in November to repair ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus tears in his right knee. The injury was sustained during a match against Kane at a WWE live event from in Dublin, Ireland. You can see footage of the incident here.

Randy Orton’s recovery from shoulder surgery, however, going slower than expected. He’s recovering and could be at the WWE Performance Center to train for a ring return as soon as mid-June.

Seth Rollins Note, Finn Balor Correction, Backstage Videos From Payback

– We have a correction to run. Finn Balor obviously did not make his main roster debut last night at Payback. SEScoops correspondent Jonathan Fisher received a tip that Balor would be appearing in Chicago and he was authorized to run the story. It was reported as a ‘rumor’ but it was reported nonetheless. We’ve received some flack on Twitter for simply “making shit up for clicks” which was not the case, but we apologize for the botch and will hold ourselves to a higher standard of verifying scoops moving forward.

– Seth Rollins was not backstage at Payback last night, despite a report last week from the “Wrestling News World.” Rollins has been in New Orleans over the past several weeks filming the WWE Studios film, Temple.

– WWE has published the following backstage interviews from Payback:

Former NXT Champions With The Biggest Upside, WWE Stars Play UFC 2

WWE Highest Paid Stars List From Forbes Broken Down In Detail

Yesterday, we reported on how Chris Smith at Forbes had put together a list of WWE’s highest paid wrestlers. While lists of this kind have gone around for years, they’re usually of some nebulous origin or an incredibly unreliable source like CelebrityNetWorth. This is different, however: Not only is it from Forbes, the magazine of record for finance, but it’s also an actual Forbes staff writer as opposed to their larger contributor network. Nothing against them, but they weren’t hired with the financial angle in mind. Since it’s a Forbes article from a Forbes staffer, the list is being taken a lot more seriously than these things usually are.

In his article, Smith claims that “Over the last year we’ve pored over court documents, SEC filings and WWE’s booking contracts and spent hours speaking with industry sources, allowing us to construct the first ever FORBES list of WWE’s Highest-Paid Wrestlers.” Let’s take a look at the list again:

  1. John Cena: 9.5 million
  2. Brock Lesnar: 6.0 million
  3. Triple H: 2.8 million
  4. Randy Orton: 2.7 million
  5. Seth Rollins: 2.4 million
  6. Roman Reigns: 2.1 million
  7. Undertaker: 2.0 million
  8. Big Show: 1.5 million
  9. Kane: 1.3 million
  10. Dean Ambrose: 1.1 million

So, what do we know about the numbers on Smith’s list for Forbes?

The only one whose pay would come up in SEC filing is Triple H, since he’s an executive officer of WWE under his real name of Paul Levesque. This does appear to be correct: If you don’t include stock awards, and Smith didn’t, he made $2,812,629 in 2015. That’s broken down as $573,269 in salary for his executive role, $526,000 in incentive plan compensation, and $1,713,360 for his pay as talent, $1 million of which is his contracted downside guarantee. There’s a note that “Mr. Levesque has out-earned this minimum guarantee in each of the past several years.”

Randy Orton and John Cena both had divorces, though only Orton’s finances went public as a result. TMZ reported that at the time of the July 2013 divorce, Orton was making $291,666 a month, or just $8 short of $3.5 million in a year. It’s not clear if that was his total 2012 pay or what, as the belief is that WWE’s downside guarantees never top $1 million. Cena did have his annual earnings pegged as about $10 million by Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer in January, while Meltzer has also reported Brock Lesnar’s pay in the past because he gets a flat fee per appearance. In the past, Meltzer has said something to the effect of how these days, it’s understood that The Undertaker’s $1 million guarantee is considered his WrestleMania payoff. With additional appearances headlining SummerSlam and Hell in a Cell last year, $2 million sounds reasonable.

It gets hazier after that as you move further down the line.

In a deposition that I cited in my January article for SBNation about Big Show’s flirtation with boxing, Big Show said that when he returned to WWE in 2008, he asked for $1.25 million and a $250,000 signing bonus…but that was eight years ago and it’s not clear in the public filings if he even got what he wanted. A deposition with his wife, who apparently handles their finances, had her testifying that she didn’t think he made any bonuses on top of his base salary. That would be unusual for a full time WWE performer, but it could also have to do with confusion over the nature of WWE contracts. WWE pay works two ways: You can just take your per-event pay and royalties as they come, or you can take your downside guarantee as a salary and get a balloon payment at the end of the year for what goes over the guarantee. Since he has little merchandise, $1.5 million doesn’t sound outrageously low, though.

Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kane, and Dean Ambrose all have little to no information out there about their pay. Kane recently put his home up on the market and it was huge, sprawling property with a house customized to his specific needs as a very tall man, but because he’s based in Knoxville, Tennessee, the price was dramatically less than you’d think, coming in under $1 million.  The rest seem realistic enough.

What do you think of the list? Let us know in the comments.

Video: Seth Rollins In The Gym Training For His Return

A video was posted on Instagram over the weekend showing Rollins in the gym continuing to prepare for his return.

Last week we reported that Seth Rollins was back in the ring “multiple times a week” training. Rollins has been out of action since suffering a knee injury back in November which required complete reconstructive surgery. Post-surgery estimates initially had him missing 6-9 months of action, so he seems to be making good progress.

Seth Rollins Back In The Ring Training For Return

Former WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins is already back in the ring multiple times per week, according to a report at Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Rollins went down with a knee injury back in November during a match against Kane in Dublin, Ireland. The Architect was forced to surrender his title after it became clear he’d need complete reconstructive surgery. Rollins has been wearing a brace while training at his Black and Brave Wrestling Academy in Moline, IL.

Initial estimates after surgery had him missing 6-9 months of action, so it’s encouraging that he’s already back in the ring. Last week, Rollins was seen at the WWE Performance Center along with John Cena, Cesaro and Dr. Jeff Dugas from the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.

Seth Rollins Single Again, Total Divas Viewership Continues To Decline

– Seth Rollins and former NXT Diva Zara Schreiber are no longer dating, according to a report by Pro Wrestling Sheet. The two quietly split last month and Schreiber has been posting photos on Instagram of her new apartment.

Schreiber made headlines last fall when Nazi-themed photos from 2012 were uncovered on her Instagram account, which led to her eventual release from WWE. Schreiber continues to wrestle on the independent scene.

– Total Divas continues to decline in viewership, dropping for the 6th straight week. This week’s episode drew only 777,000 viewers, down a sharp 30% from the season premiere back on January 19th.

Season 4 averaged over 1 million viewers per episode while season five is averaging 882,000 viewers per episode.
