WWE Confirms Brock Lesnar For RAW, Teases More Carnage

WWE has confirmed Brock Lesnar for this coming Monday’s edition of WWE RAW in Atlanta, Georgia, which will be the WWE Battleground “go-home” episode of the show.

WWE wrote the following teasers for Lesnar and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins:

“With his clash with Brock Lesnar at WWE Battleground looming on the horizon, Seth Rollins undoubtedly clutching his WWE World Heavyweight Championship a little tighter these days. After all, The Beast Incarnate not only demolished J&J Security’s Cadillac last Monday night, but put both Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury on the shelf during his rampage. Who will watch The Architect’s back this Monday night in Atlanta, when The Anomaly is in the building?

Ever since Seth Rollins robbed Brock Lesnar of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar has had it out for “The Future of WWE,” and at WWE Battleground, Rollins will have nowhere to hide. Yet, as much as this collision is about the WWE World Heavyweight Title itself — the grandest prize in sports-entertainment — it’s also a matter of retribution for The Anomaly, who wants nothing more than to make The Architect pay for his past transgressions. But what is Lesnar truly looking for: Rollins’ title or Rollins’ suffering? Might his desire to destroy Rollins somehow supersede his championship aspirations? If that’s the case, what would happen if Lesnar got his hands on the WWE World Heavyweight Champion before their title bout? Could we see Lesnar destroy his WWE Battleground opponent before their championship encounter even takes place? Last week, we saw Lesnar decimate J&J Security’s Cadillac and J&J themselves … and we get the feeling he’s not done breaking things just yet. Expect more carnage from The Beast Incarnate on Raw.”

WWE SmackDown Results – July 9, 2015

WWE Smackdown on SyFy Live Review
Taped on Tuesday at Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Report by Jake Bennett & ProWrestling.net

[Q1] Footage was shown of Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar’s revenge on The Authority from Monday’s Raw, with the destruction of the Cadillac and J&J Security. Seth Rollins music hit to open Smackdown and he made his way to the ring alone. The announce team hyped the Battleground Main Event as Seth made his introduction.

Seth said that he marched down to the ring and did the unthinkable on Raw. He told the crowd to boo all they want, but he’s more of a man than any of them will be, because on Raw he went to the ring and called out Brock Lesnar. Seth said he gave Lesnar every opportunity to step between the ropes like a man to prove he’s the beast he says he is, but instead he proved he’s a coward. Instead of taking out his frustrations on Rollins, Brock took them out on the $56k Cadillac CTS. Seth made mention of the injuries sustained by Noble and Mercury, and called them his family. He said it wasn’t the car that bothered him as much as Lesnar messing with his family.

A beeping noise indicating a truck was backing up echoed through the arena. Someone backed up the destroyed CTS into the arena, and then Paul Heyman walked out and introduced himself as the advocate for the guy who destroyed that car. Heyman said Rollins will be all alone on the 19th at Battleground when he loses the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Brock Lesnar. Heyman said the damage done to the car will pale in comparison to the damage done to Seth Rollins on the 19th when Lesnar drags him not to hell but to a place much worse called “Suplex City”.

Rollins reiterated that Heyman thinks the car is metaphor for what he’s going to look like after Battleground. Rollins reversed the statement and said the car would resemble Lesnar after Battleground, and then listed off his accomplishments of destroying The Shield, cashing in at WrestleMania, and reuniting the authority to leave Lesnar you. Heyman attempted to get in a few words and declare that Lesnar would walk out of Battleground after holding the belt over a fallen Rollins, but before he could finish Rollins told him to shut up. Rollins told Heyman that the only man to walk out of the Battleground would be the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

[Q2] After the interview, the announce crew put over the main event of Rollins vs. Ryback, and Dean Ambrose made his ring entrance…[c]

Bo Dallas made his way to the ring. He told Ambrose that he looks to be in need of some inspiration, and a shower. Bo referenced his encounter with The Rock at a house show, and said he was so inspired that he went on to start in a hit HBO show. If he can do that for bland unattractive people like The Rock, there was still hope for Dean Ambrose. All he had to do was Bolieve!

1. Bo Dallas vs. Dean Ambrose: Ambrose controlled the early going with chops. He went to hit a bulldog out of the corner, but Dallas reversed and threw Ambrose into the post shoulder first. He then threw Ambrose into the post two more times, and Ambrose spilled to the outside. Bo followed him and threw him into the barricade, and used the ring apron to hold down Ambrose and hit strikes to the back. Bo applied a headlock in the ring…[c]

Bo still held onto a headlock, but Ambrose escaped and hit a rebound clothesline. Ambrose hit jabs and chops and then clotheslined Dallas to ringside. Ambrose followed up with a suicide dive that sent Bo into the announce table. Ambrose climbed up top, but Bo jumped up and hit a suplex that got a near fall. He went for the Bodog, but Ambrose avoided it and hit a bulldog of his own. Ambrose was able to hit dirty deeds a moment later and got the pin.

Dean Ambrose defeated Bo Dallas at 10:18.

[Q3] Randy Orton was teased for a return…[c]

Backstage, Big Show spoke to Seth Rollins. Show told him he sympathized with Lesnar taking out his buddies, and said he needed to take out his rage on Ryback later on tonight. Show said he would do him a favor and take out his buddy Roman Reigns later. The announce then cut to some footage of Rusev putting out Dolph Ziggler “indefinitely” on Monday. Tom Phillips said Ziggler had a bruised trachea and was having trouble swallowing and breathing.

Rusev made his ring entrance with Summer Rae. Rusev was wearing low cut boots now instead of wrestling barefoot….[c]

[Q4] 2. Rusev vs. Fandango: Fandango hit a nice head scissors and then thrusted in the general direction of Summer Rae. Rusev took over with kicks and punches, and then hit a knee to the ribs and rocked Fandango. There was a “We Want Lana” chant until Rusev applied a nerve hold and taunted the crowd. Fandango eventually escaped and hit a dropkick, and then hit a top rope clothesline for a two count. He then climbed up again, but Rusev got out of the way and hit a thrust kick to the chest. He then applied The Accolade and Fandango tapped immediately.

Rusev defeated Fandango at 4:09

After the match, Rusev reapplied The Accolade and had Summer Rae hold up his hand in victory. Rusev then celebrated in his usual silly manner. The announce team plugged Big Show vs Roman Reigns for next…[c]

Roman Reigns made his entrance as footage from his Bray Wyatt confrontation on Monday was shown. Big Show then made his ring entrance.

3. Roman Reigns vs. Big Show: Reigns tried to slug it out with Big Show early but ate a big shoulder block that stopped him in his tracks. Show hit a body slam and taunted the crowd and yelled “I’m a giant”. The announce team speculated as to whether Reigns head was in the match, as Show sent him out of the ring. Reigns sent Show into the post and hit one of his apron dropkicks to shake up Big Show.

[Q5] Show beat a countout by about a second and Reigns hit a series of clotheslines and punches, and eventually knocked down Big Show with a running clothesline. Reigns setup for a Superman Punch, but Bray Wyatt’s music hit to interrupt him. Someone walked out to the stage with the lantern, but Reigns turned around just in time to punch Wyatt in the mouth as he tried to sneak up from behind him. Reigns continued to battle Big Show for a moment until Wyatt interfered.

Roman Reigns defeated Big Show by DQ at 4:48.

After the match, Big Show hit a chokeslam on Reigns. Wyatt crabwalked up to him as he got up and hit Sister Abigail…[c]

The Prime Time Players were in the ring, and the New Day made their entrance. Big will be taking on Titus O’Neill. Footage was shown of New Day vs. The Lucha Dragons.

4. Big E vs. Titus: Big E hit a body block and some stomps at the start of the match. Titus reversed an irish whip and sent Big E to the outside, and then tossed him back into the ring from the apron. Titus hit a couple of shoulder blocks and then an awkward looking body slam. Big E fired back with a belly to belly. New Day tried to interfere, but after Darren Young protested they were tossed from ringside. Afterwards, Big E walked into a sit out spinebuster and Titus pinned him for the win.

Titus defeated Big E at 3:28.

After the match, the announce team plugged WWE 2K16 and showed more footage of the Cadillac being wheeled to a recycling facility and crushed before it was brought to the arena for Smackdown.

[Q6] Randy Orton made his entrance into the arena as Tom Phillips plugged footage of what he did on Raw for next..[c]

Footage was shown of Sheamus and Randy Orton’s confrontation from Raw. Orton then said that no one in has career has gotten under his skin quite like Sheamus, He then said Sheamus fancies himself a modern day gladiator, and says ridiculous things like “Are you entertained!”, and he has made it his goal to make him entertaining. He would rip that stupid mohawk off his head and shove up up his pale white arse.

As Orton tried to leave, the Ascension walked out. Viktor said this was their match time, and he has two choices. He could leave and let them have their time, or stay and be eaten alive by two hungry wolves. Konnor said he should leave, or they would personally introduce them to the wasteland. Orton RKO’d Konnor and hit a hanging DDT in Viktor, followed but another RKO.

The announce team switched gears and focused on the Beast in the East special. They spoke about Owens losing his NXT Championship, and the confrontation between him and Cesaro from Monday, and the fallout from the Cesaro and Cena match. The Bella’s made their entrance with Alicia Fox…[c]

[Q7] Tamina and Naomi made their entrance…

5. Naomi and Tamina vs. Brie Bella and Alicia Fox: Brie and Naomi started and Brie fired up Brie Mode early but it went nowhere. Tamina tagged in and hit an impressive uranage. Naomi tagged back in and Brie sent her into the corner and tagged out to Alicia Fox. Alicia took down Naomi and knocked Tamina off the apron. Alicia sent Naomi off the ropes, but Tamina made a blind tag and surprised Alicia with an elbow to the back. She picked up Alicia for her Samoan Drop finisher but Nikki jumped up on the apron, allowing Brie to break the hold. Alicia hit a big axe kick and pinned Tamina for the win.

Alicia Fox and Brie Bella defeated Naomi and Tamina at 3:41.

Backstage, Ryback was interviewed. He called out Seth Rollins for being a coward for running from Brock Lesnar on Monday. He said he told Rollins what it meant to be a champion two weeks ago, but tonight he would show him. Ryback then said it was feeding time…[c]

[Q8] 5. Ryback vs. Seth Rollins: Ryback used his strength to intimidate Rollins, and then sent him to ringside. Rollins looked frustrated and re-entered the ring without taking his eyes off of Ryback. Rollins got in a few knees, but Ryback picked him up for a delayed vertical suplex, and then clotheslined Rollins out to ringside once again…[c]

Rollins dropped Ryback throat first onto the top rope, and jumped out to the apron to hit a side kick that sent Ryback to the floor. Rollins tossed Ryback into the barricade and then taunted the crowd before re-entering the ring. He then mocked Brock Lesnar by jumping with both feet onto the ring apron.

Seth jumped on Ryback’s back to apply a sleeper, but Ryback reversed into a backpack stunner. He then hit Rollins with a back body drop and a sit out bodyslam for a two count. Ryback went for a powerbomb, but Rollins avoided it and climbed to the top rope. Ryback avoided him and hit a spinebuster. Rollins attempted to roll to the outside, but Ryback pulled him back into the ring and hit a powerbomb. He set up for and hit a meat hook clothesline. He then picked up Seth for Shellshock, but Seth squirmed out. He then hit an enziguri and rolled out to the floor.

Seth signaled that he was taking his title and leaving. He grabbed his championship and started up the ramp, but Ryback followed and pulled him back. Rollins then tried to leave through the crowd, but he was stopped again. Ryback set up for Shellshock on the outside, but Rollins escaped again and left with his belt through the crowd. Ryback got in the ring and Rollins was counted out.

Ryback defeated Seth Rollins via Countout at 12:11.

After the match, Big Show’s entrance hit and they decided to take apart Ryback. They surrounded the ring and Ryback tried and failed to take down Big Show. They both hit kicks and punches until Roman Reigns made his entrance to even the odds. He speared Big Show and sent Rollins into Ryback to be hit by Shellshock. Both babyfaces celebrated to close the show.

WWE Place Ban On Another Wrestling Term, Update On Fan Hit By Car Door On RAW

– It appears that for whatever reason, Vince McMahon and the WWE have decided to pull the use of the term “backbreaker” according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer explained that it’s possible that Vince may have had another decree for the commentary team not to use the term – though Michael Cole did use it during last night’s main event on RAW.

He went on to add that he wasn’t sure why Vince or the WWE had decided to remove the term but explained that McMahon has requested the term be kept off television previously.

As an update to the earlier story of a fan being struck by part the door thrown by Brock Lesnar during RAW, the fan was said to be well on leaving the arena and was given free merchandise.

Brock Lesnar destroyed the car given to J&J Security by Seth Rollins last week and pulled the door off its hinges. He tossed it towards the crowd and a fan being struck by part of the doors interior was caught on video.

Steve Austin Talks Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens & WWE’s Top Young Talent

WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin just spoke with MTV UK to promote being on the cover of the upcoming WWE 2K16 video game. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Finn Balor, Kevin Owens and WWE’s Top Young Talent:

“I know Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Paige, Bad News Barrett [are all included]… but Finn Balor, I think, is going to be an interesting addition to the game. Here’s a guy from Ireland who’s been around for about 15 years, give or take – a guy with his experience and moveset and the different paint jobs he wears to the ring, he’s very entertaining guy and I’m looking forward to big things from him. I know this is the biggest roster they’ve ever had in this series of WWE games from 2K – but for me to speculate who could be on there, I have no idea. I have heard some very interesting rumours but I cannot speak to those rumours. But it should be a very cool and – if I might say so – completely badass roster!”

“I tell you what, first of all, I love Finn’s work. There have been some tremendous workers come out of Ireland and Northern Ireland over the years. I talked to him once on the telephone – and I’m a big fan of Fit Finlay – so he reminds me a little bit of Fit, but much more dynamic with his moveset and all of his experience in Japan. Man, the kid is just a walking highlight reel as a far as technical wrestling, a master. He’s just a good looking kid, he knows his business in the ring. And I’m a fan of the bodypaint he wears on special occasions. And then you put him across the ring from Kevin Owens… again, there’s a guy – probably, what a 13 or 14 year veteran? – and finally getting a shot here in the big leagues and for those two guys to go in there and have match in Japan, I think it is a good time to be a WWE fan. Some people consider these guys rookies on the big scene but they are veterans, have paid a lot of dues and are damn good workers so I think right now is a pretty exciting time as we see these guys develop further and get some more ring time, get more over than they are. But they certainly have all the tools, all the moves and all the talent to do so. I think the horizon is very bright for the upcoming in ring product as far as WWE is concerned.”

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins:

“There’s a guy who has got all the pieces put together right now, he’s on a roll and I think he’s an exciting guy, I think he’s representing very well. I think he has a pretty good repertoire right now. I might play him a little bit more aggressively than he performs in the squared circle, dial him up from that aspect and give him a bit more of a mean streak. But I think you’re looking at a guy who is a very well-rounded athlete. I know he loves crossfit for his training regime. All of these guys are so dynamic now.”

Jim Ross Blog: TNA Slammiversary, GFW-TNA Working Together?, Lesnar/Rollins

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated his official blog. Below are some of the highlights.

On TNA Slammiversary: “Hope TNA did well on their PPV that I did not watch due to family obligations. I know that they needed a hit and hopefully folks bought the show. Their taping schedule, while it may be good for their financial model, is a system built to never garner success. Taping so much content at one time, much of it out of sequence, etc is not the way to do business. However, if that’s the only way that TNA can afford to tape their TV show then it is what it is. I want this brand, as I do all promotions, to succeed and will continue to watch their weekly shows and pull for them but any company who thinks that they an build their brand back to being close to profitability on a network the caliber of Destination America has to be kidding themselves. It cannot be done. Most people that communicate with me can’t even see the network on their cable systems. I get it but I pay for it in a premium package so that I can watch TNA and Lucha Underground. I watch ROH generally on our local stations in OKC.”

On GFW and TNA working together: “By all reports the talents worked hard which is no surprise to me as I’ve always liked their roster. I have to be honest with you though that I couldn’t explain what a King of the Mountain match is to save my BBQ Sauce. Jeff Jarrett winning the main event surprised me and indicates that there is more coming as it relates to a working relationship between GFW and TNA. In all honestly, they need each other for various and obvious reasons. BTW, I’m happy that Mike Tenay returned to broadcast booth. Sunday night.”

On Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar: “Smart of WWE to allow Seth Rollins to get some steam versus Brock Lesnar last week and the smart money is on Rollins needing/getting more ‘heat’ between tonight and Battleground on July 19. Lesnar won’t get another beat down but Rollins can’t be beat down by Lesnar between now and the St Louis event either. I still think that Wrestlemania Texas is the right spot for Lesnar to win back the WWE World Title if the story is properly told.”

Jim Ross Blog: Heyman Leaving Lesnar?, Problems In TNA, Rollins’ Title Reign

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official blog on Wednesday with his latest thoughts and opinions. Below are some of the highlights:

On the Brock Lesnar angle from RAW: “Caught up wth RAW from Monday where Lesnar got beat down. Fundamentally it had to happen. Baby faces have to be put in jeopardy and that includes monster, fan favorites like Lesnar who is the biggest star in WWE today, in the view of many, because he’s a legit beast and the fact that he isn’t over exposed. Plus, it took multiple people to put Brock down into a selling situation. Let’s not forget that Brock is still a human and the human element can’t be factored out of how Brock Lesnar is booked. Any one who is vehemently opposed to this creative likely doesn’t understand the art of booking as much as they would like to believe.”

On Seth Rollins’ title run: “I’d still like to see Seth Rollins hold the WWE Title until Wrestlemania Texas. There is where Lesnar could win the title back IMO after winning the 2016 Royal Rumble. Now that’s the cue for someone to pipe up that idea is too predictable but I’ll go for doing the right thing over doing something unpredictable for the sake of surprise any day. It’s a great, long term storyline arc that makes sense on many fronts.”

On Paul Heyman leaving Lesnar: “Plus, anyone who is speculating that @HeymanHustle will be leaving Lesnar is ultra fantasy booking as well. No reason to have Paul leave Brock that is more viable than Heyman staying with Lesnar and I’d do NOTHING to disconnect the Heyman/Lesnar duo. NOTHING.”

On TNA problems: “Hearing all kinds of rumors, some good and some not so good, out of TNA so I will leave them as they are until confirmed but, again, this company is battling to stay in the game and I hope that they do. The thing that all of us can do as fans is to watch their TV show on Wednesday nights on Destination America. I still say if they wrestle more and talk less they will be better off. They are down to their hard core fans who want to see action and physicality and TNA has the roster to get that done.”

Blackjack Mulligan Suffers Heart Attack, NBA Champions Use Seth Rollins’ Promo, More

Currently, Windham, age 72, is in critical condition, but is conscious.

– The Sports Illustrated website notes that the NBA’s Golden State Warriors used a clip from Monday’s WWE RAW in their film session on Tuesday, just hours before winning the NBA Championship by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jim Ross Blog: RAW Thoughts, Lesnar/Heyman Return, Owens Attacking MGK

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official blog on Tuesday with thoughts and opinions of Monday’s edition of WWE RAW. Below are some of the highlights.

On Monday’s RAW: “This Raw had a good beginning, a viable middle and a great close with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman returning to confront WWE World Champion Seth Rollins. To ever do a ‘great’ three hour TV Wrestling show is going to be challenging but this show definitely had its moments and took a nice step toward the next WWE PPV which is, luckily, four weeks away.”

On Kevin Owens attacking Machine Gun Kelly: “Kevin Owens had a memorable night but his power bombing rapper Machine Gun Kelly seemed to be enjoyed and not jeered by the live audience. Nonetheless, @FightOwensFight is making positive strides to become WWE’s top villain. I hope that he succeeds. He’s a throwback in many ways and I enjoy him not trying to be a ‘cool villain.'”

On Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman returning on RAW: “As mentioned the return of @HeymanHustle and Lesnar was well timed although I’m somewhat surprised but not disappointed that it will be Lesnar vs. Rollins at Battleground PPV in St Louis in approximately one month and not at Summer Slam although that’s still a possibility. Lesnar is a legit monster and has more of the ‘IT” factor than any one in WWE for my money. I look forward to some verbal jousting from Heyman and Rollins in the coming weeks while Lesnar stays at home and eats red meat.”

Brock Lesnar Returns, Will Face Seth Rollins At WWE Battleground

Brock Lesnar returned Monday’s RAW and was named as Seth Rollins’ next opponent for the WWE World Heavyweight championship.

The Authority came out for the main event segment and teased the announcement. Rollins came out and was told that it’s time to see how the asset WWE has invested so heavily in will hold up under the most extreme pressure.

Lesnar’s music hit and the mayor of Suplex City hit the ring with his advocate Paul Heyman in tow. Lesnar and Rollins went face to face before Rollins retreated and left the ring. The two stared each other down as Lesnar’s music played to close the show.

The announcers sold that Lesnar’s indefinite suspension has been lifted and that match will be taking place in 5 weeks at Battleground.

Big SummerSlam Match For Seth Rollins, WWE Battleground IC Title Match

– At Sunday’s WWE Money in the Bank PPV, we saw The Miz interfere in the IC title match between Ryback and the Big Show. This was done to set up a 3-way match between them at next month’s Battleground PPV.

– As of this writing, the scheduled main event for WWE SummerSlam in August will be WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. Triple H. The news was first reported by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio.

WWE has already planted the seeds for the match, with a rift forming between Rollins and The Authority and Rollins using Triple H’s pedigree finisher. It remains to be seen if Rollins will be turning babyface for his feud with Triple H, but Brock Lesnar and Triple H both wrestling at SummerSlam will help solidify the show as one of WWE’s top special events of the year.

Seth Rollins Credits Joey Mercury For Saving His Career In WWE

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins spoke at the Wizard World convention in St. Louis, Missouri last week and credited Joey Mercury for saving his career in WWE.

While in NXT, Rollins had developed a reputation for having an ego, as he believed he was the best performer in WWE’s developmental system and grew frustrated with being there for longer than he felt he should have been.

Rollins said he was almost fired by the company until Mercury helped lay out everything for him and put him on the right path, which he claims ultimately saved his job.

WWE Calls Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman To Return Earlier Than Planned

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will be returning to WWE television sooner than originally planned.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE called both Lesnar and Heyman to return about a month earlier than they were planning on having them come back.

Originally, WWE was looking at having Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this year’s SummerSlam event on August 23rd, which means Lesnar would have returned a week, or a few weeks, prior to the date of the pay-per-view. Now, the plan is for Lesnar to return in time for a match at the Battleground event on July 19th.

While the Lesnar-Rollins match at SummerSlam is still a possibility, so much in creative has changed since that idea was in play. So far, Lesnar has been advertised for the June 22nd edition of RAW in Indianapolis, the July 6th RAW in Chicago and the July 13th RAW in Atlanta. Lesnar is also scheduled to work a match at what will now be a live WWE Network special on July 4th at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
