Drew McIntyre Reveals Who He Would Like To Induct Him Into Hall Of Fame

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have had very similar career paths. They both started their wrestling careers around the same time and got signed by WWE less than a year apart. Both the stars were positioned as future main eventers from early on in Raw and SmackDown respectively.

While their careers differed a bit after that, both have had a resurgence in the last few years. More importantly, they have been best friends through all these ups and downs and their friendship has only gotten stronger with time

During a recent interview with the Hollywood Raw podcast, the Scottish Warrior was asked which star he would like to induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s only fitting that Drew McIntyre took the name of Sheamus:

‘It’s Gotta Be Sheamus’: Drew McIntyre

“Oh God, it’s gonna end up being Sheamus, ain’t it? He’s been there since before we both got signed. The good times, the bad times. I am best man at his wedding coming up. He was best man at my wedding.

We give each other hell all the time. As everybody sees, we fight more than me and my actual brother. What people get to see on TV as well as backstage they don’t get to see. But yeah, it’s gotta be Sheamus.”

Both Drew McIntyre and Sheamus wrestled in highly praised matches during the Clash At The Castle PPV. The Celtic Warrior has since continued his feud with Gunther while McIntyre has been pulled from the road due to food poisoning.

Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match Added to WWE Extreme Rules 2022

Imperium and the Brawling Brutes will look to settle the score next Saturday when the two factions meet in a Good Old Fashion Donnybrook match at WWE Extreme Rules 2022.

The no-disqualification match was confirmed on WWE.com and on social media, after weeks of the two sides feuding.

Imperium Vs. The Brawling Brutes

The two teams have been at odds for some time, with Imperium reuniting at Clash at the Castle 2022.

At the Cardiff, Wales event, GUNTHER retained the Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus in a critically-acclaimed match.

Imperium once again stood tall over the Brawling Brutes in a Six-Man Tag Team Match on the September 9, edition of SmackDown.

After Butch and Ridge Holland defeated three-other teams (including Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci) to earn a shot at The Usos, Imperium attacked them, costing them the Undisputed WWE Tag Team title match.

On the SmackDown before WWE Extreme Rules, Sheamus will once again challenge GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship.

Extreme Rules

The Donnybrook match is just the latest addition to a stacked WWE Extreme Rules 2022 card, which will see several stipulations.

Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will defend her title against Bayley in a ladder match, the first singles ladder match in WWE Women’s history.

Drew McIntyre will take on Karrion Kross in a strap match, while Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins will square off inside the Fight Pit.

The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor will take on former leader Edge in an I-Quit match.

Sheamus Reveals Why He Wants The Intercontinental Championship “More Than Anything”

Sheamus battled Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE Clash at the Castle in a match that received rave reviews from critics and fans. The Celtic Warrior came up short but still got a standing ovation from the crowd in Cardiff.

On this week’s edition of SmackDown, The Brawling Brutes competed in the main event against The Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships. Sheamus, Sami Zayn, and Solo Sikoa were ringside for the match. It appeared that Ridge Holland and Butch were about to win the match but Imperium interfered.

Intercontinental Champion Gunther attacked Sheamus outside the ring and beat him down. The Usos capitalized on Imperium’s interference and hit the 1D for the pinfall victory to retain the titles. It was announced that Sheamus will battle Gunther once again for the Intercontinental Championship in two weeks on WWE SmackDown.

Sheamus Reveals Why He Wants The Intercontinental Championship

He joined WWE announcer Corey Graves on his After the Bell podcast and discussed why he wants to become Intercontinental Champion. The 44-year-old has never held the IC Title in his incredible career.

“My mentality is if you go in there and you’ve achieved X amount of stuff, there’s no doubt that your passion and drive is going to drop. And the idea is to zone that out and go in there like I’ve won nothing and today is the first day, and I want to achieve this, this, and this.

That is why I’ve been so adamant and so vocal about the Intercontinental Championship because it is the one title that is not sitting on this shelf right here. It is the one I want more than anything and that is what has been driving me. You have to have goals. You have to have targets and you have to know what is next.”

Sheamus Calls Clash at the Castle Match the Biggest Moment of his Career

WWE Superstar Sheamus has said that becoming World Champion or winning the Royal Rumble can’t compare to his match with Gunther at Clash at the Castle.

At the event earlier this month in Cardiff, Wales, Sheamus challenged the Austrian for the Intercontinental Championship in a losing effort.

The match has been praised by fans and those in the industry alike, earning five stars by Dave Meltzer.

The Biggest Moment

Sheamus’ match in Cardiff came during something of a career renaissance for the Irish Superstar.

Speaking on the latest After the Bell, Sheamus explained the importance of the match, after a 13-year career on the main roster.

“Going into that match, I knew there was a lot of hype about it. I knew that people really wanted to see it… First of all, the reception when I went out. I didn’t know what way it was going to go. Gunther obviously has a cult following from being NXT UK Champion for so many years. I didn’t really know what to expect. It’s a moment I’ll never forget. It’s probably the biggest moment I’ve had up until this point in WWE.”

Speaking about Gunther who retained against Sheamus, the Celtic Warrior had nothing but praise.

Gunther. Great wrestler. Very aggressive. Knows his role. A great heel and a great opponent

Sheamus’ praise for the reigning Intercontinental Champion.

Outshining Drew

While Gunther and Sheamus had the arguable match of the night, the show’s main event saw Drew McIntyre face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Speaking about McIntyre, his real-life best friend, Sheamus said how he had no problem outshining the Scottish Warrior.

“That’s the goal for everybody. If that’s not your goal in this business then what the hell are you doing here? Listen, me and Drew are best mates but I was going out there to bleeding steal the show no matter what. That was the goal from day one. Once I knew that this match was going to happen, I’m like ‘I’m stealing the show here.’ There’s no doubt about it.

“Give me 15-20 minutes in that ring against a formidable opponent and I will give you a match of the night every single time.”

Sheamus made it clear he still plans on becoming Intercontinental Champion, the only men’s main-roster title he’s yet to capture.

Sheamus Reveals Storyline That Helped Reignite His Passion For Wrestling

Sheamus is one of the longest-tenured stars of the current WWE roster. However, not everything he has done has been accepted by fans. The former world champion admits that his passion for the sport also wavered at times but there are a couple of things that have helped reignite it since then.

The Celtic Warrior spoke to Inside The Ropes. Talking about his longevity, he admitted that there were times when he felt that he had lost his passion a bit. According to the WWE star, his run with Claudio Castagnoli as The Bar helped get a lot of it back:

“You just stay motivated, man, you have to have the passion. I’m not gonna lie. There’s been times in my career where I felt I’ve lost that a little bit. When I started tagging with Cesaro, Claudio that got a lot of that back, when we did The Bar. I learned an awful lot from him too. Just being in the ring with him to tagging with him was great for me.”

‘Dropped Me Ego’: Sheamus

Wrestling is a physically demanding sport, and a lot of people quit because they cannot handle the physical toll of it. Sheamus explained that changing his workouts as needed has helped him stay healthy:

“I also learned a lot about like, I was lifting heavy for quite a long time. I was definitely starting to have wear and tear on my back and my neck and everything.

So I just started training smarter now as well. Dropped me ego and you know, just doing a lot more movements, stretches and the dynamic stretches that basically have kept my body loose, you know, so that’s the key as well. But I think ultimately the key is just to stay motivated and stay hungry.”

Sheamus On How Many Years Are Left In His Wrestling Career

Sheamus is arguably in the best stretch of his career. Each match he is competing in is turning out to be better than the last. His outings are receiving praise from fans and critics alike. The good news is that he isn’t planning to end this run anytime soon.

The Celtic Warrior recently spoke to Inside The Ropes. When asked how long he plans to continue wrestling, the former champion said that “I’m into this till the legs fall off.”

The interviewers mentioned how Sheamus came back from a career threatening injury in 2019 and he has achieved new heights since then. In response, the WWE star recalled how there was a time when people didn’t like his character. Now that people are enjoying his work, he plans to continue it for as long as possible:

“Well I hope so. There was a time there when I was a babyface when people were sick of looking at me back in 2012. The red headed ginger hair John Cena. They were calling me all this weird stuff.”

“As long as people get excited to see the Celtic Warrior go out there, I’ll just keep going as long as possible. I feel like I have got at least another 8 years in me.”

– Sheamus

Sheamus received his first 5-star rating from Dave Meltzer for his match with Gunther at Clash At The Castle. With no plans of stopping anytime soon, we can assume that this is only the first of many 5-star ratings to come for the former US champion.

MJF Calls Out WWE Star For ‘Playing Top Guy’

It’s not uncommon for AEW and WWE stars to reference each other in various ways. However, two of them have decided to go a step further and engage in a verbal battle directly.

It started when Sheamus shared a spoof of the PWI Top 500 List. The list titled Pro Wrestling Banger Index 2022 had his own name repeated several times in the top spots.

This led to an exchange between The Celtic Warrior and Happy Corbin. In one of his replies, the former world champion told Corbin that ‘real heels wear scarfs.’ AEW star MJF took notice of this tweet and replied with ‘sad.’

MJF Fires Back At Sheamus

When Sheamus tweeted out a Conor McGregor GIF asking who Maxwell was, he fired back at the WWE star. The AEW talent said that the former WWE champion has been handed the ball multiple times and fell:

“The guy you alluded to. Stop now or I’m gonna devour you. You can rock 6-inch lifts and play top guy, but you’ve been handed the ball multiple times and fell. I’m glad you’re having a resurgence and finally figured out how to get over. It only took you a decade. Took me 1 day.”

This Twitter war between the two wrestling stars has continued with Sheamus claiming that he was talking about Chris Jericho and MJF replying to these claims.

While a confrontation between the two is unlikely to happen anytime soon, the war of words shows that the tensions between the two sides will continue to pick up in coming times.

Sheamus Isn’t A Fan Of WWE Announcing Royal Rumble Surprises In Advance

Sheamus is currently one of 15 competitors that have been announced thus far for the men’s Royal Rumble match. As for the women’s bout, 21 competitors have been announced.

Both matches will feature active wrestlers, legends, and returning stars. For the women’s match, WWE announced several returning stars in advance instead of them being surprises.

This is something the longtime WWE star isn’t a fan of and talked about it during an interview with Louis Dangoor of GiveMeSport.

“I know this year, they’ve announced a lot of contestants for the women’s Royal Rumble. I like the fact that they just show up. I’m not a huge fan of telling people who is going to be in there. I think the men’s one is a bit more secretive. They’ve announced like ten people who are on the active roster. On the women’s side, there are a lot of girls coming back. It shows how much they’ve missed the product and missed being in the ring.”

Sheamus also gave some insight into the information the wrestlers know going into the match.

“We all know our numbers and when we’re going out. I’m not going to spoil the match for anybody. What we do is entertainment, I don’t like taking that away or pulling back the curtain. All I’ll say is, we know what our numbers are and what we have to do in there. Everyone knows their number, but they won’t find what number they are pretty much until two or three hours before the show. There has been a couple that have been really close on where we’re at coming out to the ring. That can be a little stressful, especially if you’re new. Now, I’ve been there 12 years, it doesn’t bother me at all.”

This year will mark the ninth time he has competed in the event. It will also be the ten-year anniversary of Sheamus’ Royal Rumble victory as he won the 2012 Royal Rumble by last eliminating Chris Jericho.

Sheamus has joined team SmackDown as the final member of the group to face team Raw in the traditional Survivor Series elimination match.

Last week’s episode of the blue branded show saw Sami Zayn losing his spot in the team after being defeated by Jeff Hardy in a one-on-one match.

The officials then held a fatal four-way match among Cesaro, Jinder Mahal, Sheamus, and Ricochet on this week’s show to determine who will join the blue team for Survivor Series on Sunday.

The Celtic warrior won this match after interference from his friend and the newest SmackDown roster member Ridge Holland.

Drew McIntyre Reveals His Pick For Mystery Partner At Survivor Series

Drew McIntyre has a suggestion for the final member of Team SmackDown at Survivor Series.

McIntyre will be representing SmackDown, his new home following the WWE Draft, this Sunday night (Nov. 21). The former WWE Champion will team with Xavier Woods, Jeff Hardy, Baron Corbin, and a mystery partner.

Team Raw will feature Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, and Austin Theory.

Drew McIntyre Wants Sheamus On Team SmackDown

During a chat with Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer on Busted Open Radio, Drew McIntyre said Sheamus would be his pick as the mystery partner.

“I have some suggestions of who I’d like as a fifth member. You know, personally, he’s not been on TV for a while.

“If I was gonna suggest anybody, it’s the guy that I’m at odds with right now, I’ve known forever. I always make the same joke cause it’s true, we traveled Europe and I was 19 and he was 43 at the time [laughs].

“He hits harder than anybody in WWE and us together on the same team will strike fear into any opponent, and that’d be Sheamus I would put in there.

“He’s the kind of guy when some of our opponents see my name on the card or Sheamus’ name across from em’ they’re like, ‘Oh my god, we gotta get in there with those guys? They’re gonna beat the crap out of us.’

“Both of us together will strike the fear in Raw, lead us to victory, and then afterwards we’ll probably fight each other and end up drinking some pints but I would suggest Sheamus.”

WWE Survivor Series will be taking place inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Fans will get to witness WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns go one-on-one with WWE Champion Big E.

Plus, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will collide with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte. There will also be a women’s traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series tag team match.

Sheamus Believes Cristiano Ronaldo Is Not One Of The Greatest Footballers Ever

There are millions who believe that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best football players of all time, though WWE superstar Sheamus is not one of them. The celtic warrior recently had an interview with BT Sport. Among other things, he also explained his reasoning for not considering Ronaldo among the greatest ever.

Sheamus explained that Ronaldo is definitely a world-class player but everything he does is for camera. Even if his team doesn’t win, the Portuguese star doesn’t stop:

“Don’t get me wrong, Ronaldo is probably one of the greatest players. Is he one of the greatest players ever? Absolutely not, he’s not. But he’s definitely a world-class player and one of the best there’s been in the last decade.

But even if he scores a penalty, he’s just all about the camera, mate. D’you know what I mean? Shirt off, where’s the camera? Even if he scores a penalty and they didn’t win, like, shirts off, whatever.” said Sheamus, “I’m not knocking the guy or hating him; it’s just he knows exactly what he’s doing.

The former world champion was also asked how he thinks the football player would fare in a wrestling ring. To which, he replied by saying that he wouldn’t even last 5 seconds. Sheamus claimed that football players go down when the wind blows or a blade of grass hits their shin. They wouldn’t last even 2 minutes in wrestling.

WWE Status Update On Alexa Bliss And Sheamus

Alexa Bliss and Sheamus are expected to remain off television for the foreseeable future.

Alexa Bliss was written out of storylines at Extreme Rules this past weekend. She unsuccessfully challenged Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte at the PPV. After the match, Flair destroyed her beloved doll, Lily. Bliss freaked out after seeing her doll being shred to pieces. She did not appear on Raw the following night. According to PWinsider, WWE ran the angle because Bliss is scheduled to undergo sinus surgery.

Sheamus’ absence is also due to nose surgery. His procedure took place on Wednesday and provided these updates on Twitter:

The Celtic Warrior is not expected to take part in the upcoming WWE Draft, which kicks off Friday on SmackDown and concludes at Raw next week. Sheamus is coming off two consecutive losses against United States Champion Damien Priest at Extreme Rules and Raw the following night.

Sheamus Considers Current WWE Run His Best

Sheamus has done quite a bit over the past year after making his return from injury. He went back to his old hairstyle, won the United States Championship at WrestleMania 37 and had some great matches. He recently talked about his current run in the WWE and said that it’s the best one he’s had so far.

Sheamus also revealed that The Undertaker recently told him that Sheamus is “one of the old crew now.” Sheamus told ComicBook that it took him a second to process that he’s now considered one of the “seniors” in WWE, because the last 12 years have been like a blur to him.

Sheamus was asked if he thinks this has been the best run of his career. He absolutely agreed that he’s done his best in all aspects, whether it’s on the mic, or inside the ring. He’s finally able to be himself and not have second thoughts about what he’s doing.

“I guess sometimes it was in my interest to emulate this persona that wasn’t me. So for the last year and a half, I’ve really been able to just throw all that aside and just be me, and go out there and do what I do best. I’ve always been a physical competitor in the ring, and for me it’s never been the ‘Oh, you just want to take liberties’. You hear all that stuff in the past. It’s always about bringing the best out of my opponent, bringing the fight out of my opponent, because I know at the end of it all, whoever I’m in there with when the match is over, I’ve had that physical encounter,” Sheamus said.

Sheamus considers this year and a half his best. He stated that he loves working with the younger talent and others including Matt Riddle, Damien Priest, Keith lee, Humberto Carrillo, Drew McIntyre, etc. Sheamus said that it feels like he has started his career right all over again.

Damian Priest Wins WWE United States Title At SummerSlam

Sheamus put the WWE United States Championship on the line when he faced off with Damian Priest at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium.

Priest with an outside dive and he landed bad on his hip. He clearly was in pain, which is not great considering he had a back injury earlier this year. Priest with the heel kick then hit his finisher for the win.

WWE set up this match on the August 9th edition of Raw when Sheamus accepted a challenge from Priest. Last month, Priest was set up as the next challenger for the title when he defeated Sheamus in a non-title match.

On the August 9th Raw, Sheamus and Priest both picked up wins as Sheamus defeated Ricochet in a non-title match, while Priest defeated John Morrison.  Heading into the match, Sheamus vowed to put Priest in his place.

Sheamus has been United States Champion since winning the title from Riddle at WrestleMania 37 this April.

Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in September.

Sheamus: I Fought Hard To Face Drew McIntyre At WrestleMania

Sheamus says he fought tooth and nail to try to meet his close friend Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania earlier this year.

Sheamus and McIntyre saw themselves involved in a heated feud over a betrayal. Back in February, Sheamus nailed McIntyre with a Brogue Kick following a promo with Royal Rumble winner, Edge. At the time, McIntyre was the WWE Champion.

McIntyre ended up losing the WWE Championship at the Elimination Chamber PPV later that month. Rather than go with McIntyre vs. Sheamus at WrestleMania, the match happened at Fastlane instead. McIntyre won the match and went on to lose a WWE Title match against Lashley at WrestleMania, while Sheamus won the United States Title from Riddle at “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

During a chat with BT Sport, Sheamus said he did everything he could to push the match with McIntyre to WrestleMania.

https://twitter.com/btsportwwe/status/1427608145581559839

“We really were hoping this was gonna be WrestleMania. That’s where we felt the feud should basically climax, should come to an end at WrestleMania. I fought as hard as I could, we both did, to make that happen, but you do what you can do.”

McIntyre confirmed Sheamus’ efforts and said he himself wanted the match to take place at WWE’s biggest PPV of the year.

“If you watch the pre-match video, it was WrestleMania worthy. The story, the real story. We can come back around, there is always next year’s WrestleMania. With the fans back, it’ll be new again. It certainly was disappointing.”

Sheamus Reveals His Celtic Cross Was Stolen During Thunderdome Theft

United States Champion Sheamus appears to have been one of the victims of the recent Thunderdome theft. He lost an item that was an integral part of his entrance gear for a long time.

The University of South Florida Police Department had made a tweet earlier this month asking people to help identify the suspect who was caught on video while stealing some items from Thunderdome.

Sheamus recently replied to that post from the police. He revealed that his Celtic Cross pendant was one of the items taken by the unidentified man:

“A lovely fella stole my cross (on camera below). I’d appreciate it if you internet sleuths could track it down & return it via details below.. ringside seats reward when we return to your town & many beers”

Based on the released photos from the police department, fans speculate that the thief also managed to get away with an original championship belt from the company, possibly one of the Raw tag team title belts.

The incident originally took place on May 22. It came to light earlier this month when the police department posted photos of the suspect. They noted that the person removed several items “belonging to WWE” from the premises.

Sheamus On Potential Becky Lynch Return Next Month

Becky Lynch is one of the big names people want to see back in WWE as the company returns to the road next month and Sheamus recently commented on the possibility.

The current United States champion recently had an interview with Vibe Wrestling where he talked about things like possibly winning the IC title and becoming a grand slam champion in WWE and more.

When asked about The Man possibly making her return alongside fans, Sheamus said that he doesn’t know if it will happen but he will be excited if Lynch does come back because everybody misses her:

“I don’t know when she’s gonna come back. I am not gonna ask her, it’s not of my business to ask for that or what are her plans for the future. But I think that going into the live events with the fans we’d love to have her back.

I miss her, everybody else misses her too. I’m excited if she does come back.” said Sheamus, “That question can only be answered by her.”

The former WWE champion also praised Becky Lynch for making herself a star. He said that despite the bookings and not being on people’s radar, Lynch went there and made herself.

Apart from this, Sheamus talked about the latest WWE releases and commented on the locker room morale after it. You can check out his comments on the matter at this link.

Sheamus Discusses WWE Morale After Talent Releases

Since April, WWE has released a lot of talent and employees as a way to save money. These talent cuts have happened on the main roster and in NXT.

Samoa Joe, Chelsea Green, and Mickie James were just some of the names released in April. Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Buddy Murphy, and Santana Garrett were the names most recently cut from the main roster.

Sheamus talked about this and speculation that morale in the locker room is low while doing an interview with Vibe and Wrestling.

“The locker room has got to get on with it. I’ve been in the company for 12 years and it is part of the business. People come in and people go and you gotta get down with it. Every Monday you have to get there and perform.

I don’t think the morale is down, I think it is a lot better than what it used to be when I started. There is a lot more camaraderie and we have great lads, experienced lads and young lads working together during the pandemic with no fans. You talk to some of the legends and they will tell you that they would not adapt to perform in that ring. So I think it is a credit to everybody who has been working non-stop during the last 15 or 16 months and keeping the company going and people entertained during this situation.”

Sheamus recently broke his nose in a match on Monday Night Raw and had to get surgery to fix it. As it stands right now, he won’t be missing any lengthy time in the ring.

Sheamus Confirms Status Of US Championship After Raw Injury

Sheamus suffered a gruesome injury during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in his second match of the night against Humberto Carrillo.

Reports later revealed that the Celtic Warrior has broken his nose. This revelation made many wonder about the future of the US championship the Raw star currently holds.

Though now Sheamus himself has confirmed the fate of the title. He made a tweet to reveal that he will not be vacating the title due to his injury:

The Irish star pulled double duty on last night’s episode of Raw where he competed against Ricochet and then Humberto Carrillo in singles matches.

Sheamus got busted open from a hard strike from Carrillo during the second bout. He was seen bleeding heavily after this but he still completed the match as planned.

It has since been confirmed that he will not be requiring any time off due to the damage. The Raw star will only be off TV if the company decides to sell his injury.

There is no word yet on what the company is planning for him next. Considering the current storylines; it’s possible that we will see a triple threat match between Sheamus, Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo in near future.

Sheamus Reportedly Suffers Broken Nose On Raw

Sheamus who pulled double duty on this week’s episode of Raw suffered a gruesome injury during his second match on the show.

PWinsider provided some update on the United States champion’s condition after this week’s episode of Raw. The site notes that they have ‘100% confirmed’ that the Celtic Warrior has suffered a broken nose.

Though a testament to his toughness, the report claims that Sheamus will not require any time off to heal and he will only be out of action if the company requires him to sit out.

The former world champion pulled double duty on tonight’s episode of Raw and competed against both Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo in separate singles matches during the show.

Both these bouts were non-title matches but unfortunately for Sheamus; he lost both the matches due to Ricochet and Carrillo interfering in each other’s bouts.

The Irish star suffered the injury during his second match against Humberto. He took a stiff strike to the nose and got busted open. He started bleeding heavily due to the injury but the US champion still finished the match.

It’s possible that the company will keep him out of the WWE programming for a week or two to sell the injury. We will keep you posted on his status.

Sheamus Wins United States Title At WWE WrestleMania 37

Matt Riddle vs. Sheamus put on a hard-hitting style of a match with the WWE United States Title on the line on the second night of the WWE WrestleMania 37 pay-per-view event.

The match that was held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida saw a back and forth spot fest. Riddle hit some dives off the top rope and a spot on the outside. Sheamus got a close nearfall with the brogue kick. The finish saw Sheamus hit the brogue kick when Riddle was going for a moonsault off the middle rope.

WWE set up this match on the March 29th edition of Raw when Sheamus defeated Riddle in a non-title match. Before it started, Sheamus sent Riddle into a production crate while backstage.

The end of that contest saw Sheamus pin Riddle after hitting a knee strike. After the match, Riddle got some payback when he knocked Sheamus, who was celebrating, out of the ring. Before that, Sheamus did a segment where he was interrupted by Riddle, who asked multiple questions. When Sheamus acted like he was interested in riding Riddle’s scooter, Riddle was about to give it to him, but Sheamus instead attacked him with it.

Fastlane: Last Man Standing Match Reportedly Planned

Fastlane will reportedly see a huge Last Man Standing match on its card that will determine the WrestleMania card and lineup. While there are only three matches confirmed on the card so far, a report suggests that one more match that will have a significant effect on the WrestleMania card and the WWE Championship picture is in the works. According to a report by Wrestling Observer, a Last Man Standing match between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus is in the works for Fastlane, and the winner will become the challenger for Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37.

On the last episode of Monday Night Raw, we saw former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre face Sheamus in a match. The match was set when Sheamus attacked McIntyre from behind during an interview earlier in the show. This resulted in a No Disqualification match set up between the two. Drew McIntyre got payback for the attack from before by attacking Sheamus during his entrance, and then he went on to dominate the beginning of the match. The No DQ match went on with the introductions of kendo sticks and steel chairs eventually. Later, both McIntyre and Sheamus got hold of steel steps each and charged at each other. They both collided and fell to the floor, with the match ending in a no contest.

As there was really no solid outcome from the match, it looks like WWE would give both Drew McIntyre and Sheamus an opportunity to go against each other again at Fastlane. This could very well culminate in a Last Man Standing match on Fastlane, to determine who would challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at the “Grandest Stage Of ‘Em All.”

WWE Fastlane Card

Here is what the card for Fastlane looks like so far:

  • WWE Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair
  • WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan
  • WWE Intercontinental Championship Big E vs. Apollo Crews

Bully Ray: I’d Like To See Sheamus vs Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania

WWE Hall of Famer and co-host of SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio Bully Ray recently discussed the WWE Championship on the show. Ray was discussing the WrestleMania main event situation, with the odds on Edge deciding to face Roman Reigns at the show of shows this April.

With the Universal Championship match seemingly set, Bully Ray stated who he would like to see challenge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37. “Based on story, and what I’ve seen lately? I would love to see Sheamus versus Drew. I really would” Bully Ray began on Busted Open.

Bully Ray on Sheamus

Bully Ray then said how he’s concerned that Sheamus hasn’t hit the point of ‘main eventing’ a WrestleMania. “I just don’t think Sheamus…I don’t think Sheamus’ star has risen since he’s come back to the point of WrestleMania main event.”

“And I wish I did not have to say that” Bully Ray continued. “Because Sheamus is/has been so damn good and I could make an argument for him being the MVP of the WWE for a long time now; at least during the COVID era, with his matches and his promos and everything they’ve handed him. I’m just not sure if that’s a WrestleMania marquee main event [Sheamus vs McIntyre].”

Sheamus On His Favorite Royal Rumble Of All Time

Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated PPVs of the year and Sheamus, who won the iconic battle royal at the show in 2012, is also excited for the PPV.

The former world champion recently appeared on WWE’s The Bump where he talked about things like having both great and embarrassing moments at the show and more.

During the interview, Sheamus also revealed his favorite Royal Rumble event. He recalled watching the confrontation between Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior as a kid from the PPV in 1990:

“Uh, I think for me as a kid, the biggest moment for me was the Royal Rumble in 1990, I remember I snuck downstairs and watched it – I recorded it – and watched Hulk Hogan win it all but then he and Ultimate Warrior went at it. I remember that was an unbelievable moment ’cause I was a huge Warrior fan because of his intensity.

I liked the energy he brought to the ring.” said Sheamus “There was a lot of electricity about him. It was such a surreal moment. You didn’t really see two good guys go at it like that, you know? They both had such a high profile in the company. So, it was crazy.”

The Celtic Warrior also talked about winning the Royal Rumble match himself in 2012 and claimed that he is the kind of person who gets his adrenaline going after every show.

So winning the Royal Rumble was a pretty surreal moment for him and it was a bucket list item for the former champion. You can check out his full interview in the The Bump episode below:

Bully Ray Compares McIntyre/Sheamus to Orton/Edge

WWE Hall of Famer and co-host of SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio Bully Ray recently discussed the RAW interactions between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus. Ray would compare the two British Superstars to Randy Orton and Edge; saying how their real life history gives the potential upcoming storyline feud ‘real life’ legitimacy.

Bully Ray on Orton vs Edge

“Randy [Orton] and Edge have characters and personalities that are carved out” Bully Ray began on Busted Open. “That’s why you will stay invested in their story. They had a history, that’s why you will stay invested in that story. They talked about real life relationships, but their real life relationship? That’s why you will stay invested in that story.”

Edge and Randy Orton had a run of bouts earlier in the year. These would include the Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania and ‘The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ at Backlash.

“Sheamus and Drew [McIntyre] are very similar” Bully Ray would continue. “They’re friends in real life. They have story, characters and personalities that are carved out and definitive. That’s why you’ll be invested.”

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus go back an extremely long way. The two men were featured members of the Irish Whip Wrestling promotion, back in

Bully Ray would then use a movie analogy to finish and elaborate on the point. “This is why being into the character or the personality first? Is so important. When you watch a movie, what’s the most important thing a movie can do within the first half hour or so? Build the characters.”

Do you agree with Bully Ray? Do you think that Sheamus vs Drew McIntyre could be a strong feud given their British/Irish links? Let us know in the comments
