Original Sin Cara Returns To Action At SmackDown Live Event

Luis Ignascio Urive Alvirde, the original Sin Cara, returned to action at Saturday’s SmackDown live event in Tacoma, Washington.

Alvirde is eligible to resume performing since his thirty-day suspension for his first violation of WWE’s drug testing policy expired on Tuesday. He claimed in an interview that he did not know what he had tested positive for and that he had only gotten a routine injection for his injured knee in Mexico.

Alvirde’s future with the organization was believed to be in doubt since developmental talent Jorge Arias (a/k/a Hunico) assumed the Sin Cara character at the last two SmackDown tapings. There was talk that the move would be permanent since company officials were reportedly sour on Alvirde due to his attitude and lackluster performances.

Sin Cara Update: Suspension, Backstage Heat, Hunico

Last week on SmackDown, we saw developmental wrestler Hunico make his WWE television debut, donning the mask of Sin Cara while the original Sin Cara (Luis Ignascio / Mistico) finishes up this 30-day suspension this week.

A WWE source has informed us that it was in fact Hunico working as Sin Cara once again at Tuesday’s SmackDown tapings from Bakersfield, Californi – set to air on Syfy this Friday night.

Luis Ignascio, will be eligible to return to WWE this weekend – but many are questioning whether he’ll be brought back at all. After a rocky start in WWE over the past several months due to blown spots, poor matches and an overall underwhelming rookie year, the original Sin Cara reportedly has “nuclear” backstage heat on him.

Hunico As Sin Cara

Tonight on SmackDown, Sin Cara returns to action – but due to the original Sin Cara (Mistico) still being suspended, it will be developmental wrestler Hunico under the mask.

We’ve been reporting in recent weeks that the man who originally portrayed Sin Cara might not be brought back at all – and a new report on Mexican wrestling site Super Luchas indicates that Mistico might in fact be gone from WWE for good.

While there is some belief in WWE that Mistico will be brought back to eventually feud with Hunico, Super Luchas is reporting that Hunico was informed that he will be portraying Sin Cara on WWE’s upcoming tour of Mexico in October.

WWE had major plans for Sin Cara, a beloved hero in Meixco, to headline the upcoming Mexican to – but many are worried that the Mexican fans will see the new Sin Cara as a fraud. Sin Cara was supposed to be one WWE’s showcase talents as the company looks to expand its Mexican business – but that could now be in jeopardy.

People in WWE’s promotional department are still awaiting word from management as to whether Mistico will ever be brought back – and there is some fear that the WWE machine will get behind Sin Cara and Hunico as Sin Cara will be a flop.

A clip of Sheamus powerbombing the masked wrestler from the ring apron through a steel ladder aired last night to explain his absence.

NXT Season 4 contestant Johnny Curtis, who was to have made his in-ring debut on last night’s episode of SmackDown, instead appeared in a backstage vignette. He said, “the writing is on the wall.” A chalkboard was then shown indicating that his debut is set for next week.

Transcript Of Sin Cara Interview Discussing WWE Suspension

Below is a transcript (which has been translated from Spanish to English) of Sin Cara discussing the circumstances behind his WWE suspension earlier this week with Record, a Mexican sports publication.

The Record: Are you surprised by this situation?

Sin Cara: Why did they suspend me? They haven’t told me anything.

Record: How did you find out?

Cara: I found out just now.

Record: What do you think happened? You’re one of the guys who has had a lot of success there.

Cara: I’m going to talk to them to find out what’s going on because they told me [wait] until tomorrow.

Record: You’re talking with them tomorrow to clear this up? How has this affected you?

Cara: Well yeah, they haven’t told me anything bad. This hasn’t affected me because they would have told me something.

Record: Why did they suspend you?

Cara: I don’t know. What happened is I have pain and I injected something, I think it caused the test to be positive, they didn’t tell me anything. Supposedly steroids but lots of medications have steroids.

Record: What body part did you inject? Is this some type of injury?

Cara: It’s an injection I normally get in Mexico.

Record: Oh so something you’ve done previously? What body part?

Cara: My knee.

Record: The same one that’s been giving you small problems here and there?

Cara: Yes.

Record: So you’re going to meet them and get more information.

Cara: Yes.

Record: Do you have a date on when you’ll be back?

Cara:No, like I said they haven’t told me anything, I just found out but I’d like to know. They told me not to worry about anything, nothing is going on, that we’d talk tomorrow, that’s all they told me. I think until I talk to them tomorrow I’ll know what’s going on.

Record: Do you have a message for your fans?

Cara: Thanks for their support, the fans know I’m not a drug addict, much less am I taking anything. I’m not sure what happened, it looks like it was from the medication, let’s wait and see what happens. Because my body doesn’t really look like it’s on steroids, If this were a drug thing they would have fired me. I’ve very grateful for the public’s support and we’ll wait and see what happens.

WWE Unhappy With Sin Cara Discussing Drug Test Failure

WWE officials are reportedly very upset with Sin Cara publicly discussing the circumstances behind his recent drug test failure with Record, a Mexican sports publication. More specifically, they’re upset with his claim that he didn’t understand why he was being suspended.

The masked grappler believes a routine injection to his knee to alleviate persistent pain containing steroids triggered a false positive. He denied being a steroid user, reasoning that his body could not support it.

Sin Cara said his knee injury treatment is used by numerous wrestlers in Mexico. The treatments are normal for his body, but because it was not in compliance with WWE’s drug testing policy, he was suspended.

Regarding speculation that he may not return to WWE after his suspension is lifted, Sin Cara said his status will be cleared up when he meets with officials this week. He believes he will return to the company.

Sin Cara Explains How He Could Have Failed A Wellness Test

Earlier this week, it was announced that WWE star Sin Cara has been suspended for 30 days due to a violation of the company’s Wellness policy.

  • To catch up on all the news regarding Sin Cara’s suspension, head over to our Sin Cara news page.

During an interview with Mexican newspaper The Record, Sin Cara has made his first public comments regarding the situation.

According to Sin Cara, WWE management recently informed him that he had a drug test and tested positive for steroids. Sin Cara said he asked WWE for more information. He added that many medications contain steroids and could result in a violation – and he believes that it’s possible an injection given to him by a doctor is what resulted in the failed drug test.

He stated he would be meeting with Vince McMahon to discuss the issue.

JR Blog: McMahon Angle, Sin Cara’s Suspension, WWE Title

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read it its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

The Vince McMahon Angle On RAW: “It certainly sets up numerous, new, storyline opportunities which will hopefully be capitalized upon in the near and long term future. What changes will be made under HHH’s watch, if any, and how will those assumed changes affect the presentation of WWE’s top TV priority?”

“As a fan and after working with and for Mr. McMahon for many years, I simply can’t see the sports entertainment visionary “going quietly into the night.” That’s TBD I assume and will be one of the catalysts that encourage fans to tune into Raw Monday night. ”

The Vacant WWE Championship:  “At least we do know that a new, WWE champion will be crowed Monday night between Rey Mysterio and the Miz. Tough spot for both to be in considering that CM Punk won the WWE Title in the ring against the former champion John Cena. Whoever wins between Mysterio and Miz or even the MITB winner Alberto Del Rio, will be standing in the shadow of Punk who has left the company and apparently has zero plans to return in the immediate future of which I am aware.”

Sin Cara’s Wellness Violation & Suspension: “What happened to Sin Cara? According to the WWE website, Cara violated the rules of the Wellness Program which resulted in him receiving a 30 day suspension. Some fans didn’t even know what the Wellness Program is and the best way that I can explain it is that the Wellness Program is essentially WWE’s drug policy. Very unfortunate for the fans, WWE, and especially for the Talent. I like and endorse ‘2nd chances’ if they are deserved and desired by all parties. Time will tell on this one.”

Sin Cara Update, WWE Working With ROH, Punk-Ebay

– As we’ve been reporting, Sin Cara’s Wellness violation actually occurred back in June, despite the fact it took almost a month for WWE to announce his suspension. One story going around is that Sin Cara told WWE that he could produce a prescription for the substance he tested positive for, but was unable to do so after several weeks. As you can imagine, management is said to be very disappointed with the situation.

– Some of the commemorative CM Punk t-shirts that sold out at Sunday’s WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view are going for over $500 on eBay this week.

– There are many people in both WWE and Ring of Honor that suspect that the two companies have some sort of a working agreement in place,.

Sources insist that some of the things CM Punk spoke about in his infamous RAW promo a few weeks back will start finding their way onto WWE TV soon. For example, Punk talked about Triple H taking over and he began that storyline on this week’s RAW. Punk also mentioned John Laurinaitis and Colt Cabana, both who appeared on WWE TV in the past week. While Cabana wasn’t named by the announcers, he was shown at ringside on Money in the Bank and was photographed with Punk and the WWE Title in Chicago after the pay-per-view.

For what its worth, Cabana has told at least one indy promotion that he’s worked regularly with that he’s not taking any more bookings with them after next month.

“As per our Talent Wellness Program policy if there is a violation the company will make the necessary announcement.”

That announcement was delayed until today.

There was a lot of heat on Sin Cara for failing the test, as he had been promoted heavily as Triple H’s first major international hire in his new position. WWE Posts Storyline Injury Updates On Big Show and Sin Cara

Coordinating with angles involving Big Show and Sin Cara last night at Money in the Bank, WWE stated this afternoon that both Superstars suffered “substantial injuries.”

As a result of Henry’s brutal assault following their match at Money in the Bank, initial reports from medical technicians treating Big Show reported that Henry’s vicious actions have left the star of Knucklehead with a distal fracture of the fibula that will keep him out of action for six to eight weeks.

The injury occurred moments after Henry secured victory, when he wrapped a chair around Big Show’s ankle, ascended the ropes and brought all of his weight down on his opponent’s leg. WWE.com also discovered if his injury had been more serious than originally thought, Big Show could have been sidelined for up to four months.

Regarding Sin Cara, WWE says he suffered an injury during SmackDown’s Money in the Bank match, when Sheamus viciously powerbombed the masked grappler from the ring apron through a steel ladder.
