As previously reported, Monday’s there were technical difficulties that affected the voting results during Monday’s “Power To The People” episode of WWE RAW.
During the match to determine who would face Evan Bourne, many people (including Bourne) were surprised to see that Mason Ryan received the most votes – when fellow high-flier and fan favorite Sin Cara seemed like the logical opponent. It turns out – once the voting was properly counted – 90% of the fans did in fact vote for Sin Cara to face Evan Bourne.
In light of the technical difficulties, WWE is giving the fans what they voted for next week. The WWE website posted the following statement on Tuesday:
“During Monday’s Raw broadcast, WWE fans were given the option to text A, B or C to 46993 (GOWWE) in order to decide what they wanted to happen on the show. Things went perfectly at first when text votes selected Kelly Kelly (option B) to take on Brie Bella for the Divas Championship. However, our vote tabulating provider’s system became overwhelmed, causing these votes to definitively affect the following contest, in which Mason Ryan (also option B) was voted into a match against Evan Bourne — even though, as it was later discovered, Sin Cara had received 90 percent of the total votes in WWE.com’s Live Chat poll, and should have been Bourne’s opponent.”

— In light of the technical difficulties that occurred during the “Power to the People” edition of Raw on Monday night, WWE will make it up to fans by holding a match between Sin Cara and Evan Bourne on next week’s show.

WWE issued an apology via WWE.com to those who participated in Raw’s “Power to the People.” The tabulating provider’s overloaded system reported several inaccurate results, prompting WWE management to follow WWE.com’s Live Chat Poll for the night’s final vote.
Text Voting Inaccurate in Raw’s Power to the People
WWE would like to apologize for technical difficulties that occurred during the “Power to the People” edition of Raw on Monday night.
The interactive event aimed to give the WWE Universe the ability to choose what they wanted to see on their television screens. Unfortunately, uncontrollable difficulties created by an influx of heavy voting traffic resulted in not every one of the more-than 697,000 recorded votes to be properly counted.
During Monday’s Raw broadcast, WWE fans were given the option to text A, B or C to 46993 (GOWWE) in order to decide what they wanted to happen on the show. Things went perfectly at first when text votes selected Kelly Kelly (option B) to take on Brie Bella for the Divas Championship. However, our vote tabulating provider’s system became overwhelmed, causing these votes to definitively affect the following contest, in which Mason Ryan (also option B) was voted into a match against Evan Bourne — even though, as it was later discovered, Sin Cara had received 90 percent of the total votes in WWE.com’s Live Chat poll, and should have been Bourne’s opponent.
Votes for the third poll’s bout — Kane vs. Mark Henry in an Arm Wrestling Contest — were counted correctly. However, problems began to occur again during the next poll determining a match stipulation between United States Champion Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston. At this point, so many text votes were received that the system overloaded, crashed and had to be restarted.
With little information to work from, WWE management selected to follow the system’s earliest projections, which determined that the 2-out-of-3 Falls Match had been the people’s choice. It was not until later that it was discovered that “Vickie Guerrero Banned from Ringside” was actually the top vote getter.
Restarting the tabulating system allowed for things to run smoothly with the voting for the Triple Threat Match to determine a No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship going off without a hitch.
Regrettably, technical difficulties occurred once more leading up to the night’s Six-Man Tag Team Match main event, when it became apparent to WWE management that text votes were again not being tabulated properly. At this time, a decision was made to turn to WWE.com’s Live Chat Poll for the official judgment. With the power still in the hands of the people, the WWE Universe selected the Elimination Match (option C) by an overwhelming 87 percent, leading to this stipulation being enacted.

Sin Cara’s first few months in WWE have been rockier than expected, with WWE officials being dissatisfied thus far with the Mexican wrestling star’s in-ring work, namely, his ability to wrestle the “WWE style.” A number of measures have been to protect Sin Cara reputation, including moving him to SmackDown (a taped show, where botched moves can be edited out easier) and the recent signing of one of Sin Cara’s greatest rivals from Mexico, Averno.
As the first superstar signed to WWE under Triple H’s overhauled talent development division, many believe that he’s been cut more slack that most would get because he is Triple H’s pet project. Cara is said to be frustrated with having to learn a new style of wrestling, but is grateful that he is considered ‘protected’ for the time being.
Sin Cara and Chavo Guerrero had a lousy match at Over The Limit, and Chavo is the one who took all the heat for being unable to carry Cara.
In related news … When Sin Cara first signed with WWE, he told his previous boss, CMLL owner Paco Alonso, that he was very appreciative for giving him his big break in wrestling and would be open to working a few CMLL shows each year as a way of showing his gratitude. Alonso rejected the gesture and is said to still hold a grudge that Sin Cara left his promotion for WWE. WWE signed Sin Cara, one of the top stars in Mexico, as a way of expanding their business in the territory, which is already threatening CMLL’s business.
As noted earlier this week, CMLL trademarked the name ‘Sin Cara’ for use in Mexico since WWE never did so.

Mexican based wrestling magazine Super Luchas reported on Sunday that WWE had signed Averno, one of the top heel wrestlers in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He then claimed he hadn’t signed with WWE and would prove it by defeating La Mascara in an upcoming Mask vs. Match Match. His father confirmed that his son had signed with WWE, but backtracked because it would make the result of the match, scheduled for June 17, obvious.
Averno participated in a tryout match with WWE in October, but was not signed then due to organization officials’ directive on not obtaining talent older than 30 years unless established. He is 34 years old.
Averno, as well as WWE developmental wrestler Peter Orlov, participated in the filming of the vignettes promoting Sin Cara’s debut. WWE’s acquisition of the masked grappler is said to be directly related to the SmackDown Superstar being asked to name the wrestler he worked best with, following concern over his match with Chavo Guerrero at Over the Limit. WWE officials are determined to make Sin Cara successful because he was promoted as the first discovery of Triple H in his role as chief of talent development. However, there has always skepticism on his prospects due to his inability to speak English and being thrown on television before learning the American style of wrestling.
It is considered certain that Averno will debut with a new ring name. One name being discussed for the 16-year wrestling veteran is Rey Ortiz II. He is also expected to perform without his mask.

Super Luchas reports that masked Mexican professional wrestler Averno has signed a contract with WWE. He is crossing over to the sports entertainment organization as an unmasked heel to work with Sin Cara on the SmackDown brand. He is expected to lose his mask to La Mascara at CMLL’s next big event, which takes place on June 17.
Averno had a tryout match with WWE last October and performed well, but was not signed due to concern over his age—34 years old. A deal was completed recently when company officials asked Sin Cara who he would most like to work with and he suggested Averno. WWE asked for his advice since most of the organization’s talent haven yet to adapt to his style of wrestling and therefore isn’t performing up to par. Averno, his longtime rival in CMLL, can work his style and showcase his strengths.
Super Luchas also reports that WWE is also considering signing two other young CMLL luchadors.

— After getting beat down by the Corre on last week’s episode of SmackDown, Ezekiel Jackson worked as a babyface at Saturday night’s SmackDown live event in Pensacola, Florida, teaming with WWE Tag Team Champion Kane. The oversized duo defeated Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater.
It appears that WWE is going through with the babyface turn that’s been rumored for Ezekiel Jackson for the past several weeks. As we’ve been reporting, the SmackDown brand is light on babyface talent, so Jackson breaking off from the Corre appears to be an effort to remedy that situation.
— Rosa Mendes, who has been portrayed as a babyface character in recent months, was reverted back to the dark side. She appeared as a heel character against babyface Natalya at last night’s SmackDown live event in Pensacola, Florida. The third generation wrestler beat Mendes via Sharpshooter.
Mendes’ sudden turn can be attributed to the shortage of heel Divas on SmackDown. Layla established herself as a babyface on Friday’s episode of SmackDown, leaving Alicia Fox as the lone heel on the brand. However, Fox suffered a shoulder injury at the television taping after taking a clothesline from Kharma and therefore is out of action. Meanwhile, Kharma is working this weekend’s Raw live event tour. This leaves Mendes as the lone active heel Diva on SmackDown.
— WWE launched a program between Sin Cara and Chavo Guerrero on Friday’s episode of SmackDown as the third generation wrestler shook Cara’s hand following his victory over Tyson Kidd. In their first match together, Cara beat Guerrero at last night’s SmackDown live event in Pensacola, Florida.

The first superstar signed by Triple H is Sin Cara. While WWE has high hopes for Sin Cara and see him as having the potential to be this generation’s Rey Mysterio, there were some botched moves in his first few WWE television appearances.
As a result, the decision was made by Triple H to draft Sin Cara to SmackDown, which is a taped show – where any botched spots can be edited off television.

– After a rocky WWE debut, SmackDown star Sin Cara continues to rub people the wrong way and has been described as “the guy with the biggest target on his back” in the WWE locker room. Sin Cara was a major star in Mexico and is one of WWE’s biggest acquisitions in recent years.
Despite the fact that he’s a rookie in WWE, he acts like he’s an established star in WWE – which nobody likes. One person in particular that is not a fan of Sin Cara (to say the least) is Alberto Del Rio. While there is no real evidence that Del Rio is “out to get” Sin Cara in WWE, the two had heat from their time working together in Mexico and it’s no coincidence that Del Rio and Sin Cara were kept on separate brands after the Draft.
