Sin Cara in WWE

Formerly known as Hunico, 39-year old Jorge Arias had a long run to WWE. He wrestled in AAA Lucha Libre, and briefly in TNA as a member of Team Mexico in the World X Cup competition. He was signed to WWE in 2009.

Arias toiled in developmental until problems began to arise with the original Sin Cara played by the former Mistico from CMLL. After feuding with the original version of the character, Hunico took over the role on a full-time basis in 2013.

Austin Aries Working WWE 205 Live?, Sin Cara’s Status For The Show

There has been talk of using NXT Superstar Austin Aries for tonight’s WWE 205 Live premiere from Columbia, SC. Aries is currently out of action after suffering a broken orbital bone, so this would be a non-physical role, but he’s been discussed as one of the ‘names’ that can be used to establish the show early on.

It’s interesting to note that Sin Cara is not being brought in for tonight’s 205 Live premiere, despite being added to the cruiserweight division recently. PWInsider reports that tonight’s show is an “all hands on deck” event but Cara is not being used.

As reported, 205 Live will be headlined by Rich Swann vs. Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship. Other cruiserweights advertised include Jack Gallagher, Ho Ho Lun, The Bollywood Boyz, TJ Perkins, Cedric Alexander and more.

Sin Cara Gets The Cesaro Treatment, Ladder Spot Video, Cyber Monday

– As part of today’s Cyber Monday shopping event, WWEShop.com is running a sale with up to 75% off select merchandise.

– Ahead of Sunday’s Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view, WWE released this Top 10 video looking at Superstars getting smashed through ladders:

– Last week, Cesaro voiced his displeasure over the fact WWE left him off the promotional art for the May 2017 WWE live events from Switzerland. SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan assured the Swiss Superman he’d be on all the event posters for SmackDown if he switched over to the blue brand.

Sin Cara is the latest superstar to receive this treatment. As seen on this poster promoting an upcoming tour of Mexico, the masked luchador is nowhere to be found. Like Cesaro did, Sin Cara wonders why he’s not on the poster for an event taking place in his own country.

WWE fan Jesús Rondón fixed it for him:

Sin Cara “Exiled” Over Tour Bus Fight With Chris Jericho

RAW Superstar Sin Cara has reportedly been “exiled” to the SmackDown side of the current WWE international tour.

As reported earlier, Jericho and Sin Cara were involved in a fight on the tour bus while WWE traveled from Leeds to Glasgow on Sunday. Sin Cara had been annoying the bus by making noises and when everyone asked him to stop, he got louder. Jericho confronted him and was told to “fuck off,” which led to a missed punch and a scuffle. Jericho reportedly bit Sin Cara’s hand during the incident.

Sin Cara was reportedly ordered to undergo anger management classes.

Regarding being “exiled” on the current tour, PWInsider notes that WWE officials were going to send him home at one point but they reconsidered and sent him to SmackDown to finish the tour.

Jim Ross Blog: Potential Hulk Hogan WWE Return, Jericho-Sin Cara Altercation

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has checked in with his latest blog update, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. JR spoke with Chris Jericho on Monday morning and got Jericho’s side of the story regarding his backstage altercation that took place over the weekend at a WWE live event in the United Kingdom.

“Chris said it was largely about nothing and that it resembled more of a scuffle than a full fledged fight. Sin Cara threw one punch and then the minor melee was broken up. Tensions often times rise on these extended, international tours which can bring out the worst in people. This scrap apparently occurred on the bus in route to Glasgow. At the end of the day, it was seemingly much to do about not that much on a slow news day online.”

JR also commented on the prospect of Hulk Hogan returning to WWE and appearing at WrestleMania 33 next April. He feels WWE (like any other entity) needs all the star power they can muster for their biggest show of the year.

“Seems like good marketing to me and something I that I’d concur with without any reservations. Hogan’s an icon, the Babe Ruth of his era, and would appeal to many fans who will engage the April 2, 2017 event. I think that it would be fun for many fans to see the red and yellow front and center at Wrestlemania because after all he did have a significant hand in helping build the brand that changed the business. ”

Chris Jericho & Sin Cara Involved In Backstage Altercation

RAW Superstars Chris Jericho and Sin Cara were involved in a backstage altercation over the weekend during a WWE live event from England.

Justin LeBar also reported on the fight, noting that one of the combatants might not have the leverage in the company to avoid punishment by management for fighting. There’s currently no word on what started the fight, of if either men will be disciplined.

It’s worth noting that both Jericho and Sin Cara were involved in separate backstage incidents earlier this year, with Sin Cara getting into a locker room fight with Simon Gotch of the Vaudevillains and Jericho scuffling with Brock Lesnar backstage at SummerSlam.

Jericho posted a video on Instagram shortly after when the incident was rumored to have taken place, and had no visible injuries or scrapes.

Update On RAW’s Cruiserweight Division & Vince McMahon’s Involvement

WWE used to weigh their competitors during the Cruiserweight Classic to keep them under the 205 pound weight limit, but the company is no longer doing that on RAW. It’s unknown if WWE will maintain the strict weight limit going forward. Some fans noted that Brian Kendrick was billed as 150 pounds during the CWC, but has been billed at 170 pounds on RAW. Sin Cara was previously billed as 205, but during his cruiserweight tag match on RAW he was billed as 198.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter speculated that Vince McMahon may be behind the slight changes to the cruiserweight division. The WWE Chairman had very little to do with the CWC, but obviously is overseeing the division on RAW.

Noam Dar was backstage at Monday’s RAW, but there’s no word on when he will make his TV debut.

More Details On Backstage Fight Between Sin Cara & Simon Gotch

As previously reported, Simon Gotch and Sin Cara got in a real fight backstage at last Tuesday’s SmackDown taping. The fight was said to be a “one-sided destruction” by Sin Cara.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter now reports that the fight may have started when Sin Cara flipped out at Gotch and threw a soda can at his face. Another version of the story says that Sin Cara dropped him with a punch instead. Gotch didn’t work last weekend’s live events.

Apparently Gotch has heat with several other members of the roster, and had issues with Cara specifically in the past. The report in the Wrestling Observer says that Gotch’s heat is a result of things he’s said.

– One of the top stories of the week is Ryback’s ongoing contract dispute with WWE and his Tumblr post from Tuesday about what he feels is an unfair pay structure for WWE performers. While you can be sure there are people in the WWE locker room who agree with Ryback’s positions, the only person to publicly show their support is Cameron. She tweeted:

More On Myzteziz’s Departure From AAA, Alberto El Patron’s Involvement

As noted earlier this week, Myzteziz (formerly Mistico and “The Original Sin Cara”) is no longer with Mexico’s AAA promotion.

Myzteziz, (real name, Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde) actually showed up unannounced at last Friday’s CMLL’s Arena Mexico show, which had a lot of people wondering exactly what was going on. Alvirde was reportedly telling people at the event that he was looking to finish up his obligations with AAA and then return to CMLL.

AAA tweeted a statement on Tuesday afternoon, noting that Alvirde is gone from the company and they will be maintaining ownership of the Myzteziz name moving forward.

Myzteziz will likely go back to using his popular Mistico character, which has since been passed on to another performer.

It’s also worth noting that the Wrestling Observer reported this week that one of the main reasons Alvirde decided to leave AAA is because of issues with Alberto El Patron. The two recently exchanged some words on Twitter, with Alberto threatening to beat up Myzteziz.

Rey Mysterio On Rumors About His WWE Departure, Being Booed At Royal Rumble, More

Rey Mysterio, who goes one-on-one with Myzteziz (aka the original Sin Cara) at this Sunday’s TripleMania XXIII event, which airs live on North American pay-per-view, recently appeared as a guest on Ring Rust Radio to promote the show. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his upcoming TripleMania XXIII match against Myzteziz (Sin Cara): “Well that match between us is going to a legacy defining match. There is a lot of animosity and egos that are going to come into play that night. I have to point out that this match was made for the fans by the fans. The fans were the number one critiques on who is better? Rey Mysterio or Myzteziz. At one point I left Mexico to continue my career globally and a new star came about. He is known now as Myzteziz, but back then he was known as Mistico and then Sin Cara when he joined WWE. I would have to say the fans in their eyes see a lot of similarities between us. We even tagged at one point in the WWE and now here we are against each other thanks to the fans.”

On rumors about his WWE departure: “The initial meeting in Buffalo went well. Both parties, they agreed to continue to move forward on the Rey Mysterio brand. There was no rumors, no animosity, no bad feelings between us. I feel like resigning with the company due to the fact that I had a large amount of injuries on my body. That was the number one reason why I was on the bench so long. So when it came around to resigning, they were ok with me wanting to depart and do my own thing. There was no hard feelings and we departed in an amicable way. It was my time to think for myself and act upon myself and that was the best thing I had done for myself in years. I have had time to rest and my body feels a thousand times better. I’m calling my own shots and doing things I have never been able to do in my career. I never had the freedom to do them but now I do.”

On if he’s willing to return to WWE: “Yes of course. I think that’s what every wrestler would want, there’s nothing better than dictating your own future and not over working your body. You can’t keep running on fumes constantly when you are older. You don’t see the same Rey Mysterio you see when I was 25 years old. I think it’s good to understand from both ends that I can’t deliver the way I used to when I first signed with the WWE. To make sure talent last, you have to take care of it.”

On being booed at the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble: “No hard feelings at all. One thing I have learned through the years is I have never been political about certain things and I take things lightly through my whole life. At the moment, I couldn’t believe or understand what was going on. After the match I was able to sit down and digest what was going on, and sure enough it was the fact that the fans weren’t given what they wanted. At one point I remember talking to Konnan about it, thinking if they would of let me walk down to the ring, then when the fans were booing, let me go back into gorilla and give my spot to Daniel Bryan to be number 30.”

TNA Star Mica On Getting Injured By Sin Cara, His Father Haku, Billy Corgan

TNA star Mica recently appeared as a guest on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast and spoke about a number of topics. Below are some highlights of the interview.

On competing in a TNA Gutcheck and getting signed by the company: “I did the Gutcheck and on that day we filmed I honestly thought I was just going to be rolling around and maybe doing a tryout match and next thing I know we are doing an actual show and taking bumps and I was grateful of the opportunity to do it. Tommy Dreamer pulled me aside and said that it was a great performance and don’t be surprised if you get a call and sure enough about a week or two after I got the call from Bob Ryder saying TNA would like to bring me on as one of the TNA Superstars and I was delighted. It was awesome to get a call from TNA and that they wanted me to be apart of their family.”

On Billy Corgan’s influence on the product thus far: “He loves wrestling. Billy’s mind is for wrestling. He is all about it and what’s nice is he does have a wrestling background, he is the Smashing Pumpkins there is no one else, it’s him. His creative genius is amazing. Although we only had him for like four days he is really engaged with a lot of us and their are a couple of story lines that he was apart of and he wanted to make sure he stayed really focused on the story lines that TNA has brought to television. I’m really looking forward to working with him and to see what he has in store for TNA as a whole. You can tell the TNA roster is very excited to have him and we are looking forward to working with him.”

On working against the BDC (Beat Down Clan): “Those guys, especially (Low) Ki and MVP were both in WWE at one time and actually MVP was in a pretty big spot up there so it’s nice to get his insight on how things were, how they are going and how to adjust and adapt to TNA right now. Ki is a hell of a talent and has such a mind for the game. I love talking to him and understanding how to stand out as an individual wrestler and how to make things work. Kenny King for as tall as he is he works as if he could be a Luchador. He is deceiving as far as his ability. Homicide I knew from way back when and got to work with him a little bit but right now he has torn something in his shoulder and I am really looking forward to working more with Homicide.”

On problems injuries caused him while working with Mistico (Sin Cara): “It definitely played a role. He (Mistico) had significant injuries that just happened one after the other. First it was his knee, then his hand. The poor guy was just plagued by injuries and it did hold us up. Their were opportunities for us to start something with another talent on the roster and they tried to get us into something with Ted Dibiase and that came to a stand still creatively because Ted wanted something else and we were just bouncing around doing live events and just doing tag matches with different people.”

On working with Hunico and their relationship: “Hunico is an amazing guy and is ridiculously strong. He has an amateur wrestling background so it was always great to be in the ring with him and learn from him. Besides the amateur background he also has the Lucha background and I learned a lot about being a good base for the Lucha style wrestlers. He himself is a hell of a base for the Lucha guys, he used to catch me which is amazing when we would do Lucha style moves on each other and I always appreciated him taking the time to show me the Lucha style on our off time when we were traveling.”
