What You Need To Know About Cody Rhodes’ New $8,000 Sneakers

Cody Rhodes’ impeccable style is most easily associated with his signature fancy suits, but the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion is also a dedicated sneaker-head who has no problem dropping thousands on the right pair of kicks.

Recently, Rhodes went Sneaker Shopping with Complex at Stadium Goods in Manhattan and took home quite a haul. Among his acquisitions, the most eye-catching pair was the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Low, a shoe that blends luxury with streetwear.

Designed by the late Virgil Abloh, these sneakers represent a significant collaboration between luxury fashion and streetwear. Released on July 19, 2022, they feature premium materials and intricate detailing, showcasing a blend of Nike’s athletic heritage with Louis Vuitton’s luxury craftsmanship. The sneakers come in various colorways, including an all-white version, the White Royal, black metallic, silver and more, each incorporating Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram and Damier patterns.

Originally retailing for $2,750, these sneakers have quickly become highly-sought-after in the resale market. In New York City, where the sales tax is 8.875%, these sneakers would cost approximately $8,095.66.

In addition to the Louis Vuitton x Nike pair, Cody also picked up:

  • Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low TD “Canary”
  • Powerpuff Girls x Nike Dunk Low TD “Buttercup”

Cody Rhodes has been a fighting champion since winning the Undisputed WWE title at WrestleMania 40. He ‘does the work’ in and out of the ring. He’s earns the moniker of being this generation’s Face of WWE, and this sneaker spree is just the latest example of him dressing like a champion.

The Young Bucks New Sneakers Now Available To Purchase

The Young Bucks has their new kicks ready for a superkick party. Ahead of their Anarchy In The Arena match at AEW Double Or Nothing, The Young Bucks hyped the release of their new sneakers at Champs Sports by wearing robes with the Reebok logo on them.

“Minutes before the craziest battle we’ve ever been part of. Happy 5 year anniversary!”

Even after The Elite survived the wild main event battle against Team AEW, Matthew & Nicholas Jackson made sure to put their shoes on display at the media scrum.

As of this writing, the Reebok AEW Pump Omni Young Bucks Zone II sneakers are still available for sale at $130.00. The Young Bucks posted on X the link to the shoes which can be ordered online. The sizes still available range from 7.5 to 12.

A big aspect of The Young Bucks’ persona has been the high-priced sneakers they wear during their matches. Before Reebok released these new kicks, Matthew & Nicholas Jackson would be wearing all different types of Air Jordans in the ring. They aren’t the only pro wrestlers to do such as Roman Reigns became known for wearing Jordans too.

The Young Bucks have been hyping the new sneakers in commercials and have a very classic feel to them, particularly with the “pump up” feature.

For reference, Champ Sports has an array of casual sneakers available for sale on their website, including some Jordans that are comparable to the Young Bucks Zone II.

WWE-Nike Bloodline-Inspired Air Jordan Sneakers Coming In January 2025

Sneaker fans worldwide will be able to acknowledge Roman Reigns and The Bloodline with a new set of shoes set to launch next year.

The new shoes are black with blood-red stylings, according to mock-up photos shared by Sneaker News. The shows will be available at select Jordan Brand retailers in-store, online, and at Nike.com. The snazzy new footwear will retail for $200 USD.

The new Bloodline-inspired Sneakers will retail for $200 USD.

Roman Reigns & Sneakers

The Tribal Chief’s love of sneakers is no secret. In matches, Reigns often wears sneakers instead of traditional wrestling footwear. Speaking to Complex in 2021, Reigns recalled wearing Jordans when he announced that his leukemia was in remission in 2019.

“I felt so much confidence… That was one of those situations where I was able to come out of the Roman character and just be Joe. And that’s why you saw me the way I was. That’s why I was wearing the Jordans. Just kind of a casual look. For the most part for the Roman character, especially earlier on I stayed in the fatigues and the boots and stuff like that. But from that moment, I took that character armor off and exposed the real me.”

Roman Reigns Out of the Ring

The former Universal Champion hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since his loss to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 but he’s not been taking it easy. The Tribal Chief has been shooting a heist movie that’ll include Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer and others.

While Reigns is off WWE TV, his presence continues to be felt. In his absence, Solo Sikoa has become the new leader of a new Bloodline that includes Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Paul Heyman has been noticeably concerned about the change that Sikoa has claimed that the order to take leadership of the faction came from Reigns himself.

Young Bucks ‘Superkick Party’ Branded Reebok Pumps Coming Soon

The tyrannical EVP duo of Nicholas and Matthew Jackson revealed that Champs Sports will soon be selling their very own Young Bucks-branded Reebok Pumps.  The announcement was made on the May 15th edition of AEW Dynamite, where a commercial showcasing the shoes and featuring AEW stars: The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, John Silver, and Evil Uno was shown.

Here are some high resolution photos of the stylish kicks:

This is certainly not the first time the reigning AEW Tag Team Champions have had an exclusive footwear line. The duo are well-known sneakerheads, wearing flashy brands and styles to the ring for years. In September 2022, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson announced a collaboration with Diadora for their line of basketball sneakers.

The Young Bucks are NOT the EVPs to mess with

The Young Bucks have been on a ruthless quest to cement their control of AEW by any means necessary for some time. Following the debut of Kazuchika Okada and the return of Jack Perry, the Young Bucks made their move to seize control by attacking AEW President Tony Khan on the 4/24 edition of Dynamite.

Since their shocking actions against Khan, The Elite has run roughshod through the AEW roster. They have concentrated their power through title belts, and ironclad contracts; even going as far as to attack their old friend Kenny Omega. On the May 15th edition of Dynamite, the brothers “fired” The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels who had been critical of the duo.

Despite their recent successes, things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows in The Elite’s world. The Elite will have to contend with the combined forces of Bryan Danielson, FTR, and a returning Darby Allen in an Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing next week.

Questionable Authenticity: The Young Bucks’ Dior x Nike Air Jordan 1’s

The Young Bucks kicked off Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite by cutting a promo about their decision to align with Kenny Omega and company last week. The Bucks are now working as heels and introduced new ring gear to signify their new attitudes.

Nick and Matt Jackson sported Jordan 1 Retro High Dior sneakers this week. The shoes sell for upwards of $10,000 on the secondary sneaker market.

Some eagle-eyed fans on social media were quick to point out that the Young Bucks’ Jordan 1 Retro High Diors might not be authentic. Sneaker aficionado @Richiedge is convinced the Jackson brothers were rocking fakes.

It’s interesting that this ‘controversy’ occurred just as the Bucks were solidifying their heel turn. Was this fashion faux pas an oversight, or was it really a very clever move that shows the depths to which some wrestlers are willing to go in order to play their characters?

Designing the Perfect Heel

Spending $10,000 on sneakers could be perceived as a heel move. However, if the shoes are in fact fraudulent, there could be other forces at work.

Could Excalibur’s insistence that Don Callis is literally human garbage could point to the fakes being a planned spot? After all, great professional wrestling is about great storytelling just as much as it is the action in the ring.

Could it be that the Bucks’ new designer shoes were a gift from Callis? A device to further highlight his slimy and underhanded nature? He is, after all, a bold-as-brass coward, and an even bigger snake than Jake has ever met. Kitting out his guys in fake designer gear would be a perfect fit.

Whether true or not, you could easily see the story being spun that way now, and fair play for it. Creativity is important to AEW and well, let’s face it, you’ve got to give the people what they want.

Great heels were becoming a thing of the past, and the universal loathing for Kenny Omega and the new Super Elite is a throwback to the days when a heel was booed and loathed to the very core of a wrestling fans heart.

The line of limited edition gear will launch in select Foot Locker stores to celebrate WrestleMania 33. The new collection has been exclusively curated by Rosenberg.

The new collection of Puma products is designed by Alexander John, featuring exclusive art of six WWE legends: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Ultimate Warrior, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Ric Flair, André the Giant and The Undertaker.

The collection is slated to hit stores on Saturday, April 1, one day before WrestleMania.
